Whoever decided to name it 無羁 (wú jī) and make it the WangXian version (from the books/donghua) of the live adaptation, and also the one that Lan Wangji canonically composed as a theme song for him and Wei Wuxian — had made the second best decision in the entire decision making world.

Like it was so genius? Knowing that whenever you listen to 無羁 (wú jī), it’s Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji themselves singing the song? Their theme song? And that even though they censored it, they still managed to make the song name a combination of their names (Wuxian + Wangji)? And that the literal English translation of 無羁 (wú jī) is “unrestrained” which can also mean “Untamed”?

Sick and tired of pretending Lan Xichen is #1 wangxian shipper because man absolutely is NOT

He absolutely hates the idea of wangxian together, he only supports it because he loves his brother and respects his autonomy

Everyone acts like he's constantly trying to get them together, when in reality he's just mildly charmed by 15 year old Wei Wuxian's charisma and after that is just constantly asking Lan Wangji "Are you sure?"

Even in the final battle, Lan Xichen yells at Wei Wuxian for being such an idiot for not realizing Lan Wangji has feelings for him, and basically tells him that everything that has caused his brother pain has been because of him - the ONLY reason he tolerates them together is because he can't bear to see Lan Wangji heartbroken again.

I can guarantee if Wei Wuxian didn't die, Lan Xichen would play a much more active role in keeping them apart - he doesn't do that now because he saw the pain and mourning Lan Wangji went through when he died and can't bear to do that to him again

i always find it funny how mxtx writes 6-7 year age gaps in all her main couples then makes them functionally useless in various ways.

with bingqiu: shen yuan dies around age 20 and transmigrates into shen qingqiu when luo binghe is 14. around five years later, shen qingqiu dies. five years after THAT, he wakes up in a temporary cheat sheet new body, unaware of and unaffected by any time that has passed, so he's mentally still 25-26ish. by this point luo binghe, who has been alive and fighting over his corpse the whole time as a newly awakened heavenly demon emperor, is basically only one year, maybe less, his junior. though nobody else in-universe knows, we can assume binghe is smart enough to eventually figure it out, especially after their marriage.

with wangxian, it's almost reversed. they start out being several months apart in age. wei wuxian dies in his early 20s, but unlike shen qingqiu, wei wuxian IS aware of the passage of time, though muddled. so when he's resurrected thirteen years later in the body of mo xuanyu, he's physically younger than 35-year-old lan wangji, but mentally not much different aside from catching up to how the people and places he used to know have changed. (it's a common misconception that mo xuanyu is a teenager or barely twenty, but if you dissect the timeline, he was actually somewhere in his mid to late 20s when he gave up his body.)

and finally, hualian, objectively the funniest: she slapped 800 extra years on them and called it a day. age gap, what age gap? a 10 year old peasant boy hero worshipped and developed a budding one-sided crush on the 17 year old prince of his country. after a series of tragedies they are separated for over eight centuries until they meet again as an 810ish-year-old ghost king named hua cheng and a 817ish-year-old god named xie lian, and then they mutually fall in love. basic math. amazing.

I know i wrote about Sqq wingmaning HuaLian and Wangxian but he's not exactly better than them, he's just good at hiding it

So, here's how his first enconter with Wwx went

After he stopped screaming, Wwx pulled him out of the earth and gave him some spare clothes (Definitely not Binghe's and definitely not on purpose) he was trying to act as if he didn't know what was going on but it didn't last long, stupid reflexes "So... How should i address...?"

Wwx nodded solemly "And to hold hands, and how to plan dates, ah, but i think ge might already have a few ideas"

The person having to watch over the recently found Shen Qingqiu was, unfortunately for him, Shang Qinghua "Bro i can explain!"

"Explaining My ass! You sold me!" He yelled, running behind him with a newly acquired fan that Wwx bought him in the city, or more exactly, picked out, threw his way, and put into his brothers "tab"

"Because Binghe wants to kill me, that's why!"

"... Shizun thought i wanted to kill him...?" Asked a voice that was holding just by a tread, a voice that Shen Yuan recognized in an instant

In the moment it took for him to turn around, Wwx grabbed Sqh and run out of the room, but stayed in close vicinity, he wanted to see how this went "I..."

"Shizun..." Binghe slowly made his way over, and Sy couldn't help but back away "So, Shizun really..."

"This Master..." He sighed, if Binghe really wanted to kill him this might've been easier "This Master knows what he is deserving of, that's all"

Basically, Wwx wingmaned and speedran Bingqiu kind of on accident

The only reason Sqq didn't actually run away completely is because he's starting to doubt himself thanks to Wwx, because well- could he be right...?

And Binghe is calmer thanks to him too, yes he's still been grieving for 5 years, but for 3 of them he's had two people who do love him by his side and who are good at dealing with demonic energy overall, so Xin Mo didn't make as much of a mess of him as in canon (It still does, is just kinda delayed)

I’ve been thinking about omegaverse WangXian AU and I’m so not normal about it

Basically, WWX was always known as a beta by people around him, constantly hiding his scent and on such heavy suppressors he’d practically never have a heat. When the Wens take all of the young cultivators/clan heirs or whatever he no longer has access to that kind of stuff and it’s only so long before the medication’s effect goes away.

In the big carnivorous turtle cave he can feel his omega-ness slowly come back so he’s desperate to get out away from all the young alphas and betas he’s surrounded by. Things go as cannon and only him and LWJ are left in the cave and LWJ??? Well he’s not doing too well, neither of them are with their fevers, being stuck in a cave alone and pheromones- oh yea LWJ is in rut too lol

So they do their do in the cave, escaping out and then WWX runs off after making the other man swear he’s not gonna tell anyone that WWX is an omega.

During the attack on Lotus Pier WQ pulls WWX aside asking if he knows about the kit in his womb. WWX, freaking out about it swears her to secrecy. He’s been… kinda aware about it over the month or two that’s past, but just used his high level of cultivation to just keep it in a dormant state.

When he gives JC his core such a thing isn’t an option. He doesn’t want his child to live during a time of war so he promises himself to end the war against the Wens before his birth.

He levels up his demotic cultivation at way faster of a pace, easily out numbering any bad Wen troops, cutting off the supply lines, anything to get an advantage. His tactics are often called brutal, disgusting but most of the Sunshot doesn’t care because whoever is doing it is on their side.

Keeps following cannon but now LWJ has just a totally weird feeling in his gut all the time. He swears he can feel WWX’s emotions, the stress, the fear, the agony all of it. When he finally lays eyes on who he knows is WWX as the man takes down WC and he can’t help but feel relief. Relief that after nine months (WWX froze his pregnancy for like two months so he’s about eight and half along) he’s finally able to see the man he’s fallen in love with, that he spent a rut with while the man was in heat.

WWX doesn’t acknowledge him.

He doesn’t even really acknowledge JC, his little shidi who’s so excited to see him again. WWX remains quiet, a large cloak wrapped over his whole body

Instead of properly interacting with his friends he instead asks when their plan to attack the nightless city is (he has less then two months, and by god he wants peace of mind that his child won’t be born in a war). He lets them take him to the war camp, discussing with the leaders like LXC and NMJ to move the battle forward, saying that he can balance out the sides.

They agree and that’s that.

At the final battle WWX holds up the tiger sigil, controlling more undead then he ever has. He watches as the rest of the tyrannical Wens get torn apart, their army in ruins before NMJ takes their leader’s head. Some of them still fight, and in a blaze of glory WWX destroys the tiger sigil, creating a bright light that takes out more of the Wen’s army, any of the roaming undead and himself.

LWJ feels his blood go cold. He can’t feel WWX suddenly. He canthecanthecant.

Where did his omega go?

Back in Yiling WWX falls to the ground, any last remains of his power, spiritual or demonic finally shredded into pieces. WQ helps him recuperate, Wen Yuan at his bed side as he looks up.

It’s then and there WWX smiles as he promises himself a normal life, patting A-Yuan’s head and scenting him like he’s his own kit.

Two years later.

LWJ feels lost, constantly wandering around for something, any sign of WWX. He’s looking at hair ribbons in a market outside of Yiling, a beautiful red ribbon with lotuses embroidered in it. He jolts as he feels a hold on his leg, looking down curiously.

“Baba?” The little kid asks, no more then two years old. A six year old huffs as he goes over, bowing his head in apology to LWJ.

“Sorry Mister, my brother gets confused.” Wei Yuan huffs, pulling his younger brother away. LWJ sucks a breath in as he looks at the young toddler, tan skin, enchanting yellow eyes, perfectly straight hair except with the tips granted a slight curl.

There’s no denying this is a Lan child, just from looks alone, but the scent surrounding both of the children? That’s something LWJ had smelt once, trapped in the cave in the throes of passion with his mate.

Wei Wuxian. Wei Ying is alive.

A young looking man pulls the children away before LWJ can say anything. The man picks up the two year old and gently holds him in his arms, the six year old grabbing onto the man’s leg, still glaring at the alpha.

Now this is meaner than i like to be when talking about fandom because i am pro people having fun and doing what they want and playing around with dynamics. So let me preface by saying that if you like this headcanon there's nothing wrong with you and I hope you have a great day. That said, aside from the Wen erasure and trying to flatten a more unconventional family dynamic into a nuclear family shaped hole one of the main reasons I vibe less with the "wangxian are a-yuan's dads" headcanon is that I honestly think it's kind of... Lan Wangji character assasination.

Yeah that sounds really harsh but the headcanon recquires Lan Wangji formally adopting a-yuan as his own and/or raising him as his son and i cannot stress this enough he would not do that. Because that would be actively endangering A-Yuan's safety.

To be clear: Lan wangji and wen yuan canonically look so alike that strangers who'd never met either of them assumed they were father and son. If Lan Wangji suddenly comes back with a child that he is insisting to raise, and that child looks exactly like him, people aren't going to assume that's hanguang-jun's adopted son. That is hanguang-jun's biological son with a mystery mother!

Jiang Fengmian didn't even formally adopt wei wuxian, and people knew who his actual (married!) parents were, and they still regularly assumed that he was secretly jiang fengmian's bastard instead of the child of the man cangse sanren literally eloped with.

Yeah, Hanguang-jun knocked someone up and apparantly the union was so scandalous he's deperately trying to cover it up while literally bringing this bastard kid into his own clan. Can you imagine a more juicy rumour? Everyone would want to know who this kid's mother is. A-Yuan's background would be one of the hottest pieces of gossip around.

Which, if you're triyng to make sure that no one finds out that this kid is actually a Wen and came straight from the burial mounds, is really fucking bad. If everyone is looking for A-Yuan's backround and someone succeeds, his life is in danger.

A-Yuan lost his memories, and that must've hurt like hell for Lan Wangji, both for A-Yuan's own sake and because that means this child that Wei Wuxian loved and who loved him in turn now no longer remembers him, will only ever know him from the lies the world tells about him. But he didn't do anything about it, because not knowing was safer for A-Yuan. Even if Lan Wangji wanted to personally adopt him, he would not risk A-Yuan's safety to satisfy his own feelings.

On the other hand, A-Yuan looking like Lan Wangji means he looks like a Lan, and wonky as the mdzs timeline is it's pretty clear he was born during the sunshot campaign. The Lan lost a lot of people in the war, they probably have loads of war orphans, and this kid clearly looks like one, they'd have no problem taking him in. Are they 100% sure who his parents were? No, but they probably died shortly after he was born and weren't able to safely return him to cloud recesses.

It's really easy for Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji to come up with a story from here. Someone came across the kid on the streets, saw the family resemblance, and decided to take him back to his home! After the burial mounds Wen Yuan probably wouldn't look too different form an average street rat. Or maybe the boy was raised by a common family who told them about the cultivators that left him there for safekeeping, unable to idenify them exactly but mentioning the signature white robes and forehead ribbon. Who knows!

The point is that Lan Wangji and Lan Sizhui could, for Sizhui's own safety, not be seen as father and son. From Sizhui's comments that Lan Wangji was "like a father or older brother" to him, and the fact that Lan Wangji chose his courtesy name we can infer that after he got out of seclusion Lan Wangji was more involved in his life than he would've been with other disciples. But from the outside that could be explained as a teacher having a favorite student, and an honoured sect elder (and family member, though now the assumption is "distant cousin/nephew" instead of "bastard child") helping to name a child in lieu of parents that are no longer there. By all accounts, Lan Yuan was raised collectively by the Lan as one of the several war orphans they must have had. Just like how he was raised collectively by the burial mound Wen before that.

Yes! Barring some unforeseen circumstance. I know a lot of people don't and there's no one right way but it's important to me to try, i write fic because we're all in the space together and commenting and responding to comments is how I stitch the fabric of fandom

Both experiences were totally different because the pwp we wrote together on voice chat, so that was simultaneous writing and the Leverage fic was done async, by drafting sections and then rewriting them and reorganising them.

this is such an odd question like sure? if it's fun? ok actually i DO have thoughts on this if the characters are already speaking that language and then words are sprinkled in I think that breaks immersion but also. do what you want. I do that myself with pet names sometimes. like sure i studied some philosophy of translation stuff but fundamentally i don't care i am here to make macrame.

But sometimes you're far from the people that used to be your people but you can listen to them talking and it's the thinnest of lifelines.

Snow flakes - ft. Wangxian

The world outside was hushed under a thick blanket of white, the snowfall muffling sound, softening the edges of everything beyond the window panes. Delicate flakes drifted down like scattered petals, slow and aimless, painting the courtyard in quiet stillness. The Jingshi had always been a sanctuary, but in winter, it seemed to hold its breath even more—suspended in serene timelessness.

Inside, the brazier crackled gently, casting a slow, amber warmth through the room.

Lan Wangji moved in silence, as he always did, his robes flowing with practiced grace as he set the table. The teapot was already warm, steam curling lazily from the spout. A modest meal—congee, preserved vegetables, and the little sesame buns Wei Ying liked more than Wangji—sat neatly arranged on the low table, everything in its proper place.

His movements were precise but unhurried. There was a kind of ritual in it now. A quiet joy. Every morning, whether Wei Ying rose early or slept in until noon, Lan Wangji prepared breakfast the same way. Not out of habit, but because it grounded him. Because it reminded him that this life—their life—was no longer a fleeting dream.

He turned toward the bedroom and paused. The silken curtains had been pulled slightly aside by the restless shifting of the one still buried in their bed. A tuft of dark, tousled hair peeked out from beneath the thick layers of quilt. Wei Ying had curled in on himself, cocooned in warmth, one arm flung carelessly over the pillow where Lan Wangji had once lain. His face was mostly hidden, but his mouth was relaxed, lips slightly parted in the softness of sleep.

Lan Wangji allowed himself a rare, lingering glance.

Wei Ying slept without defenses. Without the mask of laughter or mischief or teasing bravado. There was something achingly tender in the way his brow was smooth, untroubled, in how his lashes brushed against his cheeks, in the way his breathing was slow and even—safe. Peaceful.

The sight never failed to stir something deep in Lan Wangji’s chest, a quiet warmth that bloomed slowly and settled there like the snow outside—gentle, certain, unmoving.

He turned back toward the table and poured the tea.

Wei Ying would grumble when he finally woke up, no doubt. He always did, especially when Lan Wangji rose before him and slipped away. “Why didn’t you stay?” he’d ask, voice scratchy with sleep, half-accusing, half-pleading. “It’s freezing without you. Don’t you know I’ll freeze to death without my Lan Zhan’s warmth?”

Lan Wangji would never say it, but that was exactly why he woke earlier on cold mornings like this. He would rather Wei Ying stay nestled under the covers, hoarding warmth like a dragon curled over its hoard, instead of padding barefoot across the icy floors. He would rather endure the slight ache of absence than disturb that rare look of perfect, undisturbed rest.

Outside, a sudden gust stirred the wind chimes in the corridor. The faint melody danced through the room, delicate and fleeting.

Behind him, the sound of sheets shifting. A groggy groan. Then: “Lan Zhan?”

Lan Wangji turned, and sure enough, Wei Ying was blinking blearily from the bed, hair an unholy mess, a line pressed into his cheek from the pillow. He looked every bit like someone who had fought valiantly to sleep through the morning and lost.

“You’re awake,” Lan Wangji said softly.

Wei Ying squinted. “It’s still snowing?”

Lan Wangji nodded once. “Heavily.”

Wei Ying flopped onto his back and groaned. “Ugh. I was dreaming of warm things. You were there. And so were sesame buns.”

Lan Wangji’s lips curved, barely. “Coincidence. Both are here.”

Wei Ying perked up slightly at that, but then frowned as he looked to the empty space beside him. He patted the sheets with an exaggerated pout. “You left me. I was all alone. Cold. Abandoned.”

Lan Wangji walked over, kneeling beside the bed, hand reaching to brush a lock of hair from Wei Ying’s face. His fingers lingered there, just a moment longer than necessary. “You were warm,” he said. “I didn’t want to wake you.”

Wei Ying leaned into the touch with a soft hum, eyes fluttering shut again for a moment before he cracked one open. “But I like it best when I wake up to you. Warmth’s better when it’s shared, Lan Zhan.”

A beat passed in silence, before Lan Wangji quietly replied, “Next time, I’ll stay.”

Wei Ying smiled. Sleep still clung to him, but the smile was real—soft, content, a little lopsided. He sat up slowly, letting the blanket fall from his shoulders, and reached out, catching Lan Wangji’s hand.

Their fingers threaded together without thought.

“I’m glad I woke up to this,” he murmured, glancing at the table. “Snow outside, tea ready, you kneeling beside me like something out of a dream.”

Lan Wangji shook his head lightly. “Not a dream. Reality.”

Wei Ying’s smile widened.

“Even better.”

They stayed like that for a few moments—hand in hand, snow falling in slow silence, the warmth between them more than just physical.

Then Wei Ying leaned forward and whispered conspiratorially, “Did you make two extra sesame buns? Because I had a dream I ate four, and I’m pretty sure that counts as prophetic.”

Lan Wangji gave him a look. Wei Ying grinned.

“Fine, fine,” he laughed, throwing off the blanket and crawling to the edge of the bed. “But only because you looked unfairly good kneeling beside me just now. You know I can’t say no to that.”

Lan Wangji helped him up with a quiet patience, guiding him to the table, where the tea had cooled just enough to drink.

Outside, the snow continued to fall. But inside, time slowed. There was only this moment, this warmth, this shared quiet. And in that stillness, love spoke its truest language—not in grand declarations, but in the gentle way one waited, and the other woke.

I have been hanging out mostly in f/f spaces for some time now and I kind fell out of touch with the m/m side of the fandom. Last I've checked there was the pirate show, but what about now? Are there any new juggernauts?

The newest hot ships aren't usually the massive, massive juggernauts. Those tend to be ones that have been around for a bit.

For my money, the most recent fandom-that-ate-fandom was The Untamed and the most recent juggernaut Wangxian

The way I usually get a read on what's up, at least for fanworks, is to go to the m/m tag on ao3 and then filter by date, exclude some things, etc. to see the top 10 or 20 or however many.

So the most boring BTS ship is still going strong, I see.

Generally, AO3 is ever more anime- and kpop-heavy in recent years. A lot of the action is in fandoms outside of ye olde US live action SF shows. I guess 9-1-1 being an emergency services show is kind of in the ballpark of ye olde buddy cop shows, and Stranger Things has been active, but a lot of what's going on is for canonically queer ships, video games, Asian media, etc.

The kinds of fandoms AO3 was built on aren't where the action is at the moment for the most part. (Well, aside from HP.) Though, of course, there are bajillions of mid-size fic fandoms at all times.

In mdzs, cultivators usually live long right? So would wangxian also live long like 100 years+ or so without aging much? Since wen Rohan was quite an old man and still looked really young.

Hm, good question! I think wangxian would definitely live an advanced lifespan from how advanced their golden cores are and how disciplined their training is. On top of Wen Ruohan already being considered old by the time the adult cast come up, mxtx has also said that cultivators in mdzs tend to live longer and experience life events later, hence why a lot of the adults haven’t even gotten married well into their 30s. However, we are never told how old the average cultivator lives to, nor is this helped by Wen Ruohan seeming to singlehandedly be killing off the older generations as soon as their heirs are old enough to get drivers licenses, like some sort of orphan-maker sixth sense 😭 Cultivators in mdzs don’t seem to cultivate to ascension or immortality like in other cultivator novels, and the only named “immortal” is Baoshan Sanren (which could just be a title, since in other cultivator novels, the title of “immortal” is given when you reach a certain level of cultivation and not necessarily because you have achieved eternal life and youth).

But all this aside, in short: I definitely think wangxian will be living into their 100s—barring any more bullshit wars or corruption—and I’d dare to wager they would canonically live even longer, all the while maintaining their youthful appearances.

I think it was something along the lines of yzy kicking wwx out, and wwx went to the lan household first (in the middle of the night?) but lqr thought he was being a disturbance and didn't let him in to see lwj and then wwx disappeared. Then several years later, lwj and wwx reconnect and there's a part where lqr is really repetent and shows that he always regretted turning wwx away bc he felt like it was partially his fault for how difficult wwx's life was after that. I read a fic a couple of years ago that I'd love to find again... it was a modern au, where LWJ worked in his family run martial arts complex or something along those lines (I think a-yuan was a student, which is how WWX met him? But I might be getting my fics crossed) I remember LWJ was autistic, and there was a community festival or something and he was getting super overwhelmed so wwx put some juice or ketchup on his hand and pretended to be hurt so LWJ would have an excuse to go inside and "heal" him.

WangXian are married (arranged) and WWX only sleeps with LWJ enough to conceive a child and once he is informed of LWJ being pregnant, WWX stops seeing LWJ at all. WWX is under the impression that LWJ would find him ugly and so he even dims the lights and has LWJ wear a blindfold whenever they share their marital bed. Seriously though stop applying MODERN standards to historic settings in books. You just sound silly.

Learn to separate our standards from the past and you'll appreciate the characters and themes of the book better, I promise.

Unfortunate as it is, the novel's society does have what we consider today as bigoted standards. But to them, homosexuality for example, was not the norm. In MDZS, it was unusual, in fact, hence everyone other than wangxian's reactions towards it. (Even then, WWX had his own confusion and, in a sense, bigotry towards it, which I mentioned in a previous post. And that brings me back to the PERIOD TYPICAL STANDARDS of the book's setting which ALL the characters subscribed to in some way!!)

The characters are therefore acting on the morals OF THAT TIME PERIOD.

As uncomfortable as it is, stop holding characters to our standards. Oh and whilst you're at it, let people interpret characters however they like in FANON.

Would also like to add that even fanon aside, JC himself is 🏳️‍🌈 coded, regardless of what the author says. As such, it is completely understandable how some LGBT fans like and latch onto him and headcannon him as such.

See the jealously he has towards anyone talking to WWX and his zero interest in women. Plus his reaction to seeing WWX with LWJ and the fact he never married.....

Yeah. Makes perfect sense why LGBT headcannons of him would exist, especially if you read into how the gossipers in the book literally described his relationship with WWX.

To act as though the LGBT headcannons of him are nonsensical is, in fact, nonsensical in itself for these reasons. Just admit that you're going by your own bias towards JC and go. Because the LGBT HCs whether he be gay, bisexual, ace or a combination of some isn't as big of a reach as you think it is if you read into the character. And it explains how a lot of ace fans have latched onto his character and those still questioning their sexuality too because they may still be in an environment where it isn't safe or welcoming to come out yet (quite like the setting in MDZS).

Consider internalised homophobia exists, and can apply to some MXTX characters is all I'm saying and ultimately, let people enjoy their headcannons fs. It isn't hurting anyone. But remember that your shitty, biased opinions are!

My unpublished modern AU where Di Feisheng is an MMA fighter cowboy, Li Lianhua is his chiropractor, and Fang Xiaobao is the new sheriff in one of those Chinese towns they built purely for tourism. In this case, it's an Old West theme. Here's a preview.

My Wen Xu/Wei Wuxian/Lan Wangji AU where Wei Wuxian is adopted by the Wens instead of Jiang Fengmian. I swear I subvert so many jianghu tropes, this could be its own original novel, but here we are lol.

My two-part where Jin Zixuan flees to Lotus Pier and manages to alert the Jiangs in time for the Wang Lingjiao's attack. It's mostly written from Yu Ziyuan's perspective, and it's been a delight.

Which one are you finding the hardest to finish?

Definitely #1 under Mo Dao. It's a huge labor of love, but I'm thinking maybe I thought too big with the plot. It could have just been a fun teenage romp, but then it turned into a drama that handles much larger themes, and the trouble is in being able to tie up all the plotlines I suddenly have.

What does it usually look like when inspiration strikes for you?

Usually when I have two days in a row off of work, so my brain has had at least 24 hours to clear out and think about fun. I go into a pleasant fugue state, meaning I'm focused, but I can occasionally take a five-minute break to chatter about it with my frens or listen to a song. (I'm answering this post while I'm working on fic btw.)

Do you curate playlists for each fic or is your process different?

Oh nah lol. I sometimes line some chill songs or ballads up in the background or like a Buzzfeed Unsolved marathon for background noise, but sometimes it has the opposite effect where I can't focus at all. So sometimes I just write in complete silence.

Do you go balls to the wall and write as you go or are you more organized?

Balls to the waaaaaaall babeeeeeee. Aside from the ones that're born from me chattering with frens. Both my Lianhua Lou fics and #2 under MDZS are from very specific and thorough chats that I screenshotted for reference.

the only place you wanna be by aiyexayen. WOH canon divergence/fix-it, gu xiang/wen kexing/zhou zishu, background wenzhou, four seasons manor arc, multiple pov, gu xiang-centric, introspection, non-sexual intimacy, hurt/comfort, angst, found family, rarepairings, polyships, M. zhou zishu has a problem, and its just as annoying and confusing as wen kexing. gu xiang realizes that the lao bing gui her zhuren keeps following around might be a little bit good-looking. wen kexing rearranges his perspective of what it means to him to care for his silly little girl. while they all live at four seasons manor, things develop. this fic single-handledly changed my brain chemistry! and the dynamics are so warm and so gah!!!! also aiyex shared a little of the bts process of working on it here!!!!!
