With your Para au, how do the Jedi react when they find out why Obi-Wan agreed to make the clones? Is it unethical? Yes. But also it was a shit situation and he's TRYING to help the Jedi?! Like I just picture them being like o.o. This is technically better than him betraying us but wtffff.

What was Jaster like in this AU? I know fabdom has him being a great guy but can ANY political leader of Mandalore be truly good in this AU lolllll

after boga gets rescued by the jedi, he ends up killing quinlan (the mandalorian jedi spy) to make sure the mandalorian empire doesn't find out that there is an escaped obi-clone with the rebels. of course, because he stabbed quinlan in the neck, he gets put in jedi jail

anyways, this is the point where the jedi find out that a) boga and all his obi-clone brothers are all in a psychic hive mind and b) obi-wan has the ability to possess his clone sons and c) obi-wan is still alive and in jango's torture basement. which to be fair, is a lot of things to have to come to terms with at once

mace (and friends) is of course extremely conflicted about this, not least because he's thought that obi-wan was dead these last ten years, and also because making all these obi-clones is definitely against the principles of the jedi, and also also because the whole situation with a hive mind of 2000 obi-clones is extremely fucked up as a concept. later on when obi-wan is able to have an actual conversation (through boga) with mace, it's helpful for them to understand just how dire obi-wan's circumstances have been for the last fifteen years since he was captured. like yes, obi-wan is doing a lot of really dubious stuff, but also he's been unable to contact any outside jedi for all that time and he had no other options. also, it helps that the obi-clones are very conveniently positioned to help the jedi and the rebellion

jaster, at least from the standpoint of the mandalorians, was a good ruler. as emperor, jaster moved the mandalorian center (and imperial palace) from sundari to keldabe, and also made a lot of changes which shifted power towards the working class mandalorian instead of having it all sequestered by the noble class. obviously the traditionalists hated him for that, which was why he was assassinated, which led to jango taking the throne quite young and putting his legitimacy into question. jaster had a strong interest in mandalorian history and also warrior's pride, so maybe he had more honor than jango does, but whether that translates to being less shit to the people of the empire is inconclusive. we can safely say that jaster did not hate the jedi nearly as much as jango does, though, because jango's hatred towards the jedi is obsessive and very directly tied up with his relationship with obi-wan

on a personal level, jaster was really busy being emperor so he didn't have all the time to spend raising jango--jango was primarily raised by other members of jaster's clan, the same way that jango has not had very much time to raise cody and rex, who ended up being primarily raised by myles (and also to some extent by obi-wan, who they talked to a lot in prison). I do think cody and rex remember grandpa jaster and remember him fondly, but that has more to do with the fact that jango used to spend more time with them when jaster was alive than jaster himself. like, even though jango's the one who's kept obi-wan in the torture basement for eleven years, jaster is the one who built that prison in the keldabe palace in the first place, so what does that say about him?

which is to say, jaster is definitely less shit than jango, but that's more because jango is especially shit than because jaster is a good person

Oooh. About your parasitic extraction au? How do force sensitives live in the Mandalorian empire? Like you said conscripted, do they have a bastardization of Jedi culture? Are they enslaved? What is it like? Do canon characters live in the empire or in the Jedi Order in hiding? (I'm thinking Mace Windu, Depa Billiba, Plo Koon, and Ahsoka Tano mainly.) Also! Do other clones exist? Mainly the CCs. Wolffe, Fox and Bly lol

the mandalorian empire love having force sensitive warriors because they're extra strong and have superhuman reflexes so they do everything they can to get their hands on as many of them as they can

general practice is for young force sensitives to be 'adopted' by high-ranking mandalorian clans for training. if they're born into a less prominent mandalorian clan, maybe they can train their kid themself or they can surrender the kid. if the family is not a mandalorian family (e.g., one of the occupied worlds) they're supposed to surrender their force-sensitive child for training and this is considered an honorable thing to do. if they don't want to do that and try to get their child to the jedi order instead to save them from being conscripted for basically the rest of their life then usually their whole family gets killed and the child gets sent to a mandalorian clan as above (this happened to ahsoka and she hates the rebellion because she blames them for her family's death)

mandalorian jedi all wear collars which cannot be removed, and the collar denotes their rank. each mandalorian jedi is also assigned to a handler who is supposed to act as support and also is supposed to kill their jedi if they go off the rails (drink too much dark juice from all the murder and start killing everyone). a mandalorian's jedi armor specifically has an undefended back for this purpose. they're not *technically* enslaved because this is considered an honorable position and they get a lot of privileges but like. read between the lines here.

mandalorian jedi are basically all trained in combat and not so much in the psychic philosophical spiritual stuff because the mandalorians think that 'don't kill people' thing is for chumps and they burned down most of the jedi temple's libraries. they just don't know how to do the psychic stuff and most of the psychic stuff doesn't work very well when you don't teach them emotional regulation first. like a trial for all mandalorian jedi is that they get their kyber crystal and they're not promoted until they've killed enough people that it turns red. if that puts things into perspective.

anyways, the old jedi order is in hiding across the galaxy. they wear normal clothes and they got rid of the padawan braid because they don't want to be murdered on sight. instead of the braid, they use a set of prayer beads, which they carve and add beads to as they go through trials and visit different worlds, partially because prayer beads are really easy to dispose of in a hurry. they do have a base in dagobah though where they take care of and teach the youngest force sensitives.

re: who's who, there are a lot of canon characters on both sides. obi-wan, obviously, is one of the traditional jedi. he was mace's padawan when he got captured by jango. depa, plo koon, jocasta, yoda, and maul are all traditional jedi. obviously there are more, but those are the ones who get mentioned by name.

on the mandalorian side, we have ahsoka (whose handler is padme), anakin (whose handler was rex), qui-gon (who is dead), ventress (whose handler is isabet reau), dooku (whose handler is myles), quinlan (who is a spy trying to infiltrate the jedi order), also aayla and vokara che who kind of just briefly show up

the other clones mostly don't exist. I say mostly because when jango put in a clone order for two sons, kamino made three in case one of them didn't make it, but all three of them did make it and the third one is fox, who the kaminoans then put into the brainwashing factory to turn him into a brainwashed super soldier. and then when jango went back and asked for a new son because cody and rex disappointed him, they made three again and two made it. one of them is boba, and the other one I have named kiki. he is also put into the brainwashing factory.

which is all to say. being a jedi is rough as hell regardless of what side you're on.

jess has always been the bad boy of stars hollow since he moved. that is a fact. and when he meets you it completely throws him off because how can someone be so happy and sweet, and so beautiful at the same time?

obviously he’s not known for being optimistic… so when you meet him while working at luke’s, you try to make it your personal mission to have jess smile at least once a shift

luke thinks it’s great that you two have to work together because jess badly needs a good influence, and you’ve known luke since you were young so you’re completely and entirely trusted with the shop when luke goes fishing and whatever

jess is astounded

and then the way you treat the customers

even kirk likes you- he thinks you’re a wonderful break from whatever the hell luke’s attitude is

you’ve memorized everyone’s regular orders and never fail to serve someone without a smile on your face

at first it kinda pissed jess off tbh because he thinks it’s an act and not genuine

but as he gets to know you better he realizes that you’re just a really lovely sunshiney person no matter what, and hey, maybe you’re rubbing off on him a bit after all

one time he leaves his book at the counter while he’s on a break and you run up to the apartment to give it to him, even though there’s a backlog of customers

“you forgot your book downstairs”

he kind of stares at you, a smile creeping up 

“thanks”

“you’re welcome”

more awkward pauses

“you should really use a bookmark, you know, it’s bad for the pages if you bend them like that”

“you read?”

“yeah. you should really start a new book, though. that one had a super unsatisfying ending”

that’s when everything changes for him

the next shift he comes to work on your day off and you’ve left him a small package beside the coffee machine with his name in cursive on it

you guys get closer and more attached, working perfectly in sync at the diner- you’ll have the fries done at the same time he’s grilled a burger, so that everything stays warm for the customers

jess also starts doing more little things for you: wiping down the counter, helping clean up so you can go home earlier, giving you all the tips in the tip jar even though technically he deserves half

until one day you come into work late, eyes rimmed with red, furiously blinking tears away

he’s never seen you like this, so obviously he has to fix it

because you’re y/n l/n. you’re the sunshine of stars hollow

lorelai and rory are there, and so he asks lorelai to help man the coffee 

jess takes you upstairs to his room, away from prying eyes, and asks you what’s wrong, cause he can tell

you just burst into tears

“hey hey hey, you’re okay, what’s wrong?”

cue protective jess.

through the tears you tell him how you’re overwhelmed with school, homework, the pressure to get into a good university, and how you feel like you’re supposed to handle it all by yourself

jess knows it’s not the time for wisecracks

so he wipes away the tears from your cheeks and listens as you talk

when you’ve calmed down, you hug him as a thank you

jess has never really been hugged before. luke and his mom aren’t very affectionate, especially physically

when you finally pull away, his touch lingers

and you kiss him on the cheek very quickly

that’s when jess knows you’re the one

you’ll always be his sunshine, even through both of your worst moments

and he knows he’s going to spend the rest of his life with you, and devote his days to hearing you laugh

but that’s a story for another time
