Audio-Powered Robots: A New Frontier in AI Development
Audio integration in robotics marks a significant advancement in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Imagine robots that can navigate and interact with their surroundings by both seeing and hearing. Audio-powered robots are making this possible, enhancing their ability to perform tasks more efficiently and intuitively. This development can affect various areas, including domestic settings, industrial environments, and healthcare.
Audio-powered robots use advanced audio processing technologies to understand and respond to sounds, which allows them to operate with greater independence and accuracy. They can follow verbal commands, recognize different sounds, and distinguish between subtle audio cues. This capability enables robots to react appropriately in various situations, making them more versatile and effective. As technology progresses, the applications of audio-powered robots will broaden, improving efficiency, safety, and quality of life across many sectors. Thus, the future of robotics is expected to be more promising with the addition of audio capabilities.
The Evolution and Importance of Audio in AI and Robotics
Integrating audio into robotics has always been challenging. Early attempts were quite basic, using simple sound detection mechanisms. However, as AI technology has progressed, so have robots’ audio processing capabilities. Key advancements in this field include the development of sensitive microphones, sophisticated sound recognition algorithms, and the application of machine learning and neural networks. These innovations have greatly enhanced robots’ ability to accurately interpret and respond to sound.
Vision-based approaches in robotics often need to catch up in dynamic and complex environments where sound is critical. For instance, visual data alone might not capture the state of cooking in a kitchen, while the sound of sizzling onions provides immediate context. Audio complements visual data, creating a richer, multi-sensory input that enhances a robot’s understanding of its environment.
The importance of sound in real-world scenarios cannot be overlooked. Detecting a knock at the door, distinguishing between appliance sounds, or identifying people based on footsteps are tasks where audio is invaluable. Likewise, in a home setting, a robot can respond to a crying baby, while in an industrial environment, it can identify machinery issues by recognizing abnormal sounds. In healthcare, robots can monitor patients by listening for distress signals.
As technology evolves, the role of audio in robotics will become even more significant, leading to robots that are more aware and capable of interacting with their surroundings in nuanced, human-like ways.
Applications and Use Cases
Audio-powered robots have many applications, significantly enhancing daily tasks and operations. In homes, these robots can respond to verbal commands to control appliances, assist in cooking by identifying sounds during different stages of food preparation, and provide companionship through conversations. Devices like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa show how audio-powered robots transform home life by playing music, providing weather updates, setting reminders, and controlling smart home devices.
Robots with audio capabilities operate more efficiently in noisy industrial settings. They can distinguish between different machine sounds to monitor equipment status, identify potential issues from unusual noises, and communicate with human workers in real-time, improving safety and productivity. For instance, on a busy factory floor, a robot can detect a malfunctioning machine’s sound and alert maintenance personnel immediately, preventing downtime and accidents.
In healthcare, audio-powered robots have great significance. They can monitor patients for signs of distress, assist in elderly care by responding to calls for help, and offer therapeutic support through interactive sessions. They can detect irregular breathing or coughing, prompt timely medical intervention, and ensure the safety of elderly residents by listening for falls or distress sounds.
In educational environments, these robots can serve as tutors, aiding in language learning through interactive conversations, providing pronunciation feedback, and engaging students in educational games. Their ability to process and respond to audio makes them effective tools for enhancing the learning experience, simulating real-life conversations, and helping students practice speaking and listening skills. The versatility and responsiveness of audio-powered robots make them valuable across these diverse fields.
Current State, Technological Foundations, and Recent Developments in Audio-Powered Robots
Today’s audio-powered robots have advanced audio processing hardware and software to perform complex tasks. Key features and capabilities of these robots include Natural Language Processing (NLP), speech recognition, and audio synthesis. NLP allows robots to understand and generate human language, making interactions more natural and intuitive. Speech recognition enables robots to accurately interpret verbal commands and respond appropriately, while audio synthesis allows them to generate realistic sounds and speech.
The speech recognition algorithms in these robots can transcribe spoken words into text, while NLP algorithms interpret the meaning behind the words. Audio synthesis algorithms can generate human-like speech or other sounds, enhancing the robot’s communication ability. Integrating audio with other sensory inputs, such as visual and tactile data, creates a multi-sensory experience that enhances the robot’s understanding of its environment, allowing it to perform tasks more accurately and efficiently.
Recent developments in the field highlight ongoing advancements. A notable example is the research conducted by Stanford’s Robotics and Embodied AI Lab. This project involves collecting audio data using a GoPro camera and a gripper with a microphone, enabling robots to perform household tasks based on audio cues. The results have shown that combining vision and sound improves the robots’ performance, making them more effective at identifying objects and navigating environments.
Another significant example is Osaka University’s Alter 3, a robot that uses visual and audio cues to interact with humans. Alter 3’s ability to engage in conversations and respond to environmental sounds demonstrates the potential of audio-powered robots in social and interactive contexts. These projects reveal the practical benefits of integrating audio in robotics, highlighting how these robots solve everyday problems, enhance productivity, and improve quality of life.
Combining advanced technological foundations with ongoing research and development makes audio-powered robots more capable and versatile. This sophisticated hardware and software integration ensures these robots can perform tasks more efficiently, making significant strides in various domains.
Challenges and Ethical Considerations
While advancements in audio-powered robots are impressive, several challenges and ethical considerations must be addressed.
Privacy is a major concern, as robots continuously listening to their environment can inadvertently capture sensitive information. Therefore, ensuring that audio data is collected, stored, and used securely and ethically is essential.
Bias in audio data is another challenge. Robots may perform poorly in real-world settings if the data does not represent diverse accents, languages, and sound environments. Addressing these biases requires careful selection and processing of training data to ensure inclusivity.
Safety implications also need consideration. In noisy environments, distinguishing important sounds from background noise can be challenging. Ensuring robots can accurately interpret audio cues without compromising safety is essential.
Other challenges include noise reduction, accuracy, and processing power. Developing algorithms to filter out irrelevant noise and accurately interpret audio signals is complex and requires ongoing research. Likewise, enhancing real-time audio processing without significant delays is important for practical applications.
The societal impacts of audio-powered robots include potential job displacement, increased dependency on technology, and the digital divide. As robots become more capable, they may replace human workers in some roles, leading to job losses. Moreover, reliance on advanced technology may aggravate existing inequalities. Hence, proactive measures, such as retraining programs and policies for equitable access, are necessary to address these impacts.
The Bottom Line
In conclusion, audio-powered robots represent a groundbreaking advancement in AI, enhancing their ability to perform tasks more efficiently and intuitively. Despite challenges such as privacy concerns, data bias, and safety implications, ongoing research and ethical considerations promise a future where these robots seamlessly integrate into our daily lives. From home assistance to industrial and healthcare applications, the potential of audio-powered robots is vast, and their continued development will significantly improve the quality of life across many sectors.

Robot girl, finally back online after a year and a half, looking at the newly outfitted soldering station. There's a lot more tools on it than there were when she last closed her eyes: Inspection microscopes, hot air reflow, EEPROM programmers, logic analyzers, thermal cameras and regulated power supplies. She starts to tear up when she sees the video history of her partner (and repairperson): months and months of electronic tutorials, starting simple ("what is a circuit?") and towards the end there's PCB design classes and CCC videos about reverse engineering secure processor firmware.
"You did all this, for me?" she asks, her voice sounding different from how she remembers it, lacking the stutterglitch and 8-bit audio harshness. Her partner smiles. "I thought I'd lost you... I couldn't live with that. I had to!"
She hugs them in a pile of spare parts, servos moving smoothly for the first time in decades, pressure sensors finally accurate enough to hold them without risk of crushing them.
Sometimes, love is stored in the soldering iron.

Anthropic's stated "AI timelines" seem wildly aggressive to me.
As far as I can tell, they are now saying that by 2028 – and possibly even by 2027, or late 2026 – something they call "powerful AI" will exist.
And by "powerful AI," they mean... this (source, emphasis mine):
In terms of pure intelligence, it is smarter than a Nobel Prize winner across most relevant fields – biology, programming, math, engineering, writing, etc. This means it can prove unsolved mathematical theorems, write extremely good novels, write difficult codebases from scratch, etc. In addition to just being a “smart thing you talk to”, it has all the “interfaces” available to a human working virtually, including text, audio, video, mouse and keyboard control, and internet access. It can engage in any actions, communications, or remote operations enabled by this interface, including taking actions on the internet, taking or giving directions to humans, ordering materials, directing experiments, watching videos, making videos, and so on. It does all of these tasks with, again, a skill exceeding that of the most capable humans in the world. It does not just passively answer questions; instead, it can be given tasks that take hours, days, or weeks to complete, and then goes off and does those tasks autonomously, in the way a smart employee would, asking for clarification as necessary. It does not have a physical embodiment (other than living on a computer screen), but it can control existing physical tools, robots, or laboratory equipment through a computer; in theory it could even design robots or equipment for itself to use. The resources used to train the model can be repurposed to run millions of instances of it (this matches projected cluster sizes by ~2027), and the model can absorb information and generate actions at roughly 10x-100x human speed. It may however be limited by the response time of the physical world or of software it interacts with. Each of these million copies can act independently on unrelated tasks, or if needed can all work together in the same way humans would collaborate, perhaps with different subpopulations fine-tuned to be especially good at particular tasks.
In the post I'm quoting, Amodei is coy about the timeline for this stuff, saying only that
I think it could come as early as 2026, though there are also ways it could take much longer. But for the purposes of this essay, I’d like to put these issues aside [...]
However, other official communications from Anthropic have been more specific. Most notable is their recent OSTP submission, which states (emphasis in original):
Based on current research trajectories, we anticipate that powerful AI systems could emerge as soon as late 2026 or 2027 [...] Powerful AI technology will be built during this Administration. [i.e. the current Trump administration -nost]
See also here, where Jack Clark says (my emphasis):
People underrate how significant and fast-moving AI progress is. We have this notion that in late 2026, or early 2027, powerful AI systems will be built that will have intellectual capabilities that match or exceed Nobel Prize winners. They’ll have the ability to navigate all of the interfaces… [Clark goes on, mentioning some of the other tenets of "powerful AI" as in other Anthropic communications -nost]
----
To be clear, extremely short timelines like these are not unique to Anthropic.
Miles Brundage (ex-OpenAI) says something similar, albeit less specific, in this post. And Daniel Kokotajlo (also ex-OpenAI) has held views like this for a long time now.
Even Sam Altman himself has said similar things (though in much, much vaguer terms, both on the content of the deliverable and the timeline).
Still, Anthropic's statements are unique in being
official positions of the company
extremely specific and ambitious about the details
extremely aggressive about the timing, even by the standards of "short timelines" AI prognosticators in the same social cluster
Re: ambition, note that the definition of "powerful AI" seems almost the opposite of what you'd come up with if you were trying to make a confident forecast of something.
Often people will talk about "AI capable of transforming the world economy" or something more like that, leaving room for the AI in question to do that in one of several ways, or to do so while still failing at some important things.
But instead, Anthropic's definition is a big conjunctive list of "it'll be able to do this and that and this other thing and...", and each individual capability is defined in the most aggressive possible way, too! Not just "good enough at science to be extremely useful for scientists," but "smarter than a Nobel Prize winner," across "most relevant fields" (whatever that means). And not just good at science but also able to "write extremely good novels" (note that we have a long way to go on that front, and I get the feeling that people at AI labs don't appreciate the extent of the gap [cf]). Not only can it use a computer interface, it can use every computer interface; not only can it use them competently, but it can do so better than the best humans in the world. And all of that is in the first two paragraphs – there's four more paragraphs I haven't even touched in this little summary!
Re: timing, they have even shorter timelines than Kokotajlo these days, which is remarkable since he's historically been considered "the guy with the really short timelines." (See here where Kokotajlo states a median prediction of 2028 for "AGI," by which he means something less impressive than "powerful AI"; he expects something close to the "powerful AI" vision ["ASI"] ~1 year or so after "AGI" arrives.)
----
I, uh, really do not think this is going to happen in "late 2026 or 2027."
Or even by the end of this presidential administration, for that matter.
I can imagine it happening within my lifetime – which is wild and scary and marvelous. But in 1.5 years?!
The confusing thing is, I am very familiar with the kinds of arguments that "short timelines" people make, and I still find the Anthropic's timelines hard to fathom.
Above, I mentioned that Anthropic has shorter timelines than Daniel Kokotajlo, who "merely" expects the same sort of thing in 2029 or so. This probably seems like hairsplitting – from the perspective of your average person not in these circles, both of these predictions look basically identical, "absurdly good godlike sci-fi AI coming absurdly soon." What difference does an extra year or two make, right?
But it's salient to me, because I've been reading Kokotajlo for years now, and I feel like I basically get understand his case. And people, including me, tend to push back on him in the "no, that's too soon" direction. I've read many many blog posts and discussions over the years about this sort of thing, I feel like I should have a handle on what the short-timelines case is.
But even if you accept all the arguments evinced over the years by Daniel "Short Timelines" Kokotajlo, even if you grant all the premises he assumes and some people don't – that still doesn't get you all the way to the Anthropic timeline!
To give a very brief, very inadequate summary, the standard "short timelines argument" right now is like:
Over the next few years we will see a "growth spurt" in the amount of computing power ("compute") used for the largest LLM training runs. This factor of production has been largely stagnant since GPT-4 in 2023, for various reasons, but new clusters are getting built and the metaphorical car will get moving again soon. (See here)
By convention, each "GPT number" uses ~100x as much training compute as the last one. GPT-3 used ~100x as much as GPT-2, and GPT-4 used ~100x as much as GPT-3 (i.e. ~10,000x as much as GPT-2).
We are just now starting to see "~10x GPT-4 compute" models (like Grok 3 and GPT-4.5). In the next few years we will get to "~100x GPT-4 compute" models, and by 2030 will will reach ~10,000x GPT-4 compute.
If you think intuitively about "how much GPT-4 improved upon GPT-3 (100x less) or GPT-2 (10,000x less)," you can maybe convince yourself that these near-future models will be super-smart in ways that are difficult to precisely state/imagine from our vantage point. (GPT-4 was way smarter than GPT-2; it's hard to know what "projecting that forward" would mean, concretely, but it sure does sound like something pretty special)
Meanwhile, all kinds of (arguably) complementary research is going on, like allowing models to "think" for longer amounts of time, giving them GUI interfaces, etc.
All that being said, there's still a big intuitive gap between "ChatGPT, but it's much smarter under the hood" and anything like "powerful AI." But...
...the LLMs are getting good enough that they can write pretty good code, and they're getting better over time. And depending on how you interpret the evidence, you may be able to convince yourself that they're also swiftly getting better at other tasks involved in AI development, like "research engineering." So maybe you don't need to get all the way yourself, you just need to build an AI that's a good enough AI developer that it improves your AIs faster than you can, and then those AIs are even better developers, etc. etc. (People in this social cluster are really keen on the importance of exponential growth, which is generally a good trait to have but IMO it shades into "we need to kick off exponential growth and it'll somehow do the rest because it's all-powerful" in this case.)
And like, I have various disagreements with this picture.
For one thing, the "10x" models we're getting now don't seem especially impressive – there has been a lot of debate over this of course, but reportedly these models were disappointing to their own developers, who expected scaling to work wonders (using the kind of intuitive reasoning mentioned above) and got less than they hoped for.
And (in light of that) I think it's double-counting to talk about the wonders of scaling and then talk about reasoning, computer GUI use, etc. as complementary accelerating factors – those things are just table stakes at this point, the models are already maxing out the tasks you had defined previously, you've gotta give them something new to do or else they'll just sit there wasting GPUs when a smaller model would have sufficed.
And I think we're already at a point where nuances of UX and "character writing" and so forth are more of a limiting factor than intelligence. It's not a lack of "intelligence" that gives us superficially dazzling but vapid "eyeball kick" prose, or voice assistants that are deeply uncomfortable to actually talk to, or (I claim) "AI agents" that get stuck in loops and confuse themselves, or any of that.
We are still stuck in the "Helpful, Harmless, Honest Assistant" chatbot paradigm – no one has seriously broke with it since that Anthropic introduced it in a paper in 2021 – and now that paradigm is showing its limits. ("Reasoning" was strapped onto this paradigm in a simple and fairly awkward way, the new "reasoning" models are still chatbots like this, no one is actually doing anything else.) And instead of "okay, let's invent something better," the plan seems to be "let's just scale up these assistant chatbots and try to get them to self-improve, and they'll figure it out." I won't try to explain why in this post (IYI I kind of tried to here) but I really doubt these helpful/harmless guys can bootstrap their way into winning all the Nobel Prizes.
----
All that stuff I just said – that's where I differ from the usual "short timelines" people, from Kokotajlo and co.
But OK, let's say that for the sake of argument, I'm wrong and they're right. It still seems like a pretty tough squeeze to get to "powerful AI" on time, doesn't it?
In the OSTP submission, Anthropic presents their latest release as evidence of their authority to speak on the topic:
In February 2025, we released Claude 3.7 Sonnet, which is by many performance benchmarks the most powerful and capable commercially-available AI system in the world.
I've used Claude 3.7 Sonnet quite a bit. It is indeed really good, by the standards of these sorts of things!
But it is, of course, very very far from "powerful AI." So like, what is the fine-grained timeline even supposed to look like? When do the many, many milestones get crossed? If they're going to have "powerful AI" in early 2027, where exactly are they in mid-2026? At end-of-year 2025?
If I assume that absolutely everything goes splendidly well with no unexpected obstacles – and remember, we are talking about automating all human intellectual labor and all tasks done by humans on computers, but sure, whatever – then maybe we get the really impressive next-gen models later this year or early next year... and maybe they're suddenly good at all the stuff that has been tough for LLMs thus far (the "10x" models already released show little sign of this but sure, whatever)... and then we finally get into the self-improvement loop in earnest, and then... what?
They figure out to squeeze even more performance out of the GPUs? They think of really smart experiments to run on the cluster? Where are they going to get all the missing information about how to do every single job on earth, the tacit knowledge, the stuff that's not in any web scrape anywhere but locked up in human minds and inaccessible private data stores? Is an experiment designed by a helpful-chatbot AI going to finally crack the problem of giving chatbots the taste to "write extremely good novels," when that taste is precisely what "helpful-chatbot AIs" lack?
I guess the boring answer is that this is all just hype – tech CEO acts like tech CEO, news at 11. (But I don't feel like that can be the full story here, somehow.)
And the scary answer is that there's some secret Anthropic private info that makes this all more plausible. (But I doubt that too – cf. Brundage's claim that there are no more secrets like that now, the short-timelines cards are all on the table.)
It just does not make sense to me. And (as you can probably tell) I find it very frustrating that these guys are out there talking about how human thought will basically be obsolete in a few years, and pontificating about how to find new sources of meaning in life and stuff, without actually laying out an argument that their vision – which would be the common concern of all of us, if it were indeed on the horizon – is actually likely to occur on the timescale they propose.
It would be less frustrating if I were being asked to simply take it on faith, or explicitly on the basis of corporate secret knowledge. But no, the claim is not that, it's something more like "now, now, I know this must sound far-fetched to the layman, but if you really understand 'scaling laws' and 'exponential growth,' and you appreciate the way that pretraining will be scaled up soon, then it's simply obvious that –"
No! Fuck that! I've read the papers you're talking about, I know all the arguments you're handwaving-in-the-direction-of! It still doesn't add up!

Personally speaking there’s something so beautifully nostalgic about seeing hermits and co meet up and hangout irl? Like it feels like the way old conventions work (pre Covid) with post Covid technology/ technology popularised during 2020 like Scar’s remote robot. The silliness of watching them go around and compare heights and talk to each other. The pie thing. People interacting with Scar through the robot. Martyn being a champ and powering through reading the donos despite being sick. PEOPLE SLIPPING IN AND OUT OF EACH OTHER’S STREAMS. Each stream providing a slightly different pov but you vaguely here the same audio in the background because they’re all together!! They’re just really just a group of friends who organised a charity event and they’re hanging out <3

Greetings! It’s the A Quiet Place AU anon again. Ever since I sent my first ask, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this concept. Because of that, today I decided to watch the movie again, and I was reminded that the death angels are in fact capable of carving up metal like a hot knife through butter.
Originally, I was thinking it would be more of a “the cybertronians save the humans and adopt us and all is well” thing, the end of the apocalypse and such, but I think the idea that the death angels pose a considerable threat to them as well could be more interesting.
(btw I love everything about the coterie, being a space cat would be rad)
———————
“I thought you said this planet was safe, Prime.”
The Autobots stand over the battered frame of their fallen comrade. Though these creatures were far less advanced than their own kind, they certainly put up a fight. They were fewer, and yet resisted the mech’s weapons long enough to extinguish the poor bot’s spark. His last expression still on his faceplate, making it clear that it had been a painful end.
The Prime scans the scene, before letting his optics rest on his lost soldier. Another member of his family, gone, and not even as a result of the war. No, his friend was taken from him, by an unknown species, on a strange and distant planet, far from the war. A planet that was supposed to be a respite, where they could recuperate before plunging back into the fray.
“…..It was supposed to be. All data gathered of Earth indicated that it would be safe enough to shelter us.” There had been no time to send in scouts. The Ark was losing power fast, and he had to take a chance for the sake of his crew. It was a risk, but one he thought would be minor based on his research. “There was even the possibility that some of the indigenous life forms might welcome us…”
The lieutenant scoffs. “Well, what a warm welcome, eh?”
“No… these… creatures, were not listed among the native earthlings…” He stills, and lets the sounds of the forest fill his audio receptors.
It’s quiet.
“…Something is wrong.”
———————
Alone and afraid, a human makes their way to the place the giant spaceship descended. They know it’s foolish, considering the last things to crash-land on this planet have proven to be quite the unsavory bunch, but they still find themselves carefully making the trek.
Might as well, they think. With long-term survival feeling like some distant hope that slips away with every new morning, perhaps death by curiosity would be a release. The human’s inner cat was scratching at the walls of their mind to find out what happened.
The sandy path other survivors poured in days long past only stretched so far, and when it was gone, so began the careful stepping over twigs and dead leaves. Even barefoot, every step was too loud. With each foot placed on the ground, the human paused and listened. Waited. Then another step.
The pattern repeated until they came upon a newly formed clearing. Burnt and broken trees, singed and upturned earth. At the end of it all, a vast star-faring ship.
But that is not the interesting part, no. The human’s attention is solely on the giant robots near the entrance to the ship, one of their kind seemingly deactivated, and the broken bodies of four Listeners.
The relief is short lived, as now there is the matter of new, stronger, and presumably smarter creatures.
That thought, too, hasn’t the chance to linger, as the sound of an alien screech brings a horrific realization…
There were five Listeners in this area.
Before they can turn around and face their impending doom as it thunders towards them, one of the robots swiftly turns and raises its weapon. With a flash, a bright beam of energy flies over the human’s shoulder, making painful sounding contact with the creature. Its body limply thuds on the ground.
The human stands frozen, watching as their rescuer lays down its weapon and strides over to them. The other robots hang back, quietly speaking to one another in a strange language.
The rescuer stops to kneel in front of the human, a futile attempt to appear smaller. Bright red and blue metal shines in the sunlight, and the robot’s mask retracts.
“Greetings, little one. My name is Optimus Prime, and I come in peace.”
The human gapes in astonishment, amazed by the robot—Optimus Prime’s—voice, and that he speaks their language.
Gathering composure, they close the distance, and carefully lay little hands on his much larger one, before speaking for the first time since this all began.
“…Optimus Prime, on behalf of every living creature on this planet, welcome to Earth.”
Anon I've had this stuck in my inbox and could not post it for some reason, I am sorry! This is FANTASTIC.

Typing Quirk Suggestions for a Robot kin
I hope it gives you a wonderful uptime! :3
Mod Vintage (⭐)

Letter replacements:
Replace "O" with zeroes "0"
Replace "i" or "L" with ones "1"
Replace "one" with "1", including "one" sounds like "any1", or "we 1 = we won" (the past tense of "win")
Replace "zero" with "0"
Frankly, you can just replace all sorts of letters with numbers, such as
R = 12
N = 17
B = 8
A = 4
E = 3
etc.
or maybe make all "A"s and "i"s capitalized, cause "A.I." (artificial intelligence
Prefixes and Suffixes:
Get inspired by programming languages!
Begin your text with "//" like a comment on C++
If you prefer other languages comment tags, you can use "< !--your text-- >"
Or maybe begin it with " int main () { std::cout << "your text"" and end with "return 0; }" like C++ too
Greet people with the classic "Hello world!"
Or greet people with "beep boop!" honestly, I have no idea where this comes from, but it's cute.
Or write down html stuff, like sandwiching your italicized text with "< em> "
The possibilities are endless!

in an AU where Chance is a robot...
[heavy credits go to https://pin.it/16oorotS4 THIS GUY for the inspiration I got to incorporate nuts and bolts into this gambler!]
[lots of these are based on how I play Forsaken]
-Over time, especially with older maps, Chance internally mapped out the whole layout of every map, and pointed out certain POIs. These include:
> The killer's relative spawn location, and the area farthest from it
> All known medkit spawns
> All possible generator locations
-He bleeds purple. Think of it like Thirium from DBH
-UNLIKE ME, he has immaculate aim. Unbarred from human error, as a machine, he is an absolute beast at aiming, coming outta nowhere from behind a wall to noscope the killer.
-[this is where I begin to take inspiration from the aformentioned user] Chance's glasses are literally part of his face. some visor shit. Taking it off is like taking off a TV's screen itself.
-on his torso is a literal coin slot. yes a coin slot. and that's how he's powered on, through the coin slot. like an arcade machine, one coin = one month of constant activity, if you don't count internal system repairs during sleep mode. Chance usually starts off with 12 every year, and has an internal alarm clock to remind him of when time is almost up.
-what remains of the cash in Elliot's wallet is literally the only thing keeping him alive.
-when he turns on, his glasses display a slot machine hitting 777s, or JACKPOT
-he has a full combat mode. like full on laser cannons for arms type of deal. but y'know the Spectre, THAT GUY probably somehow blocked off the directives concerning that full combat mode.
-he programmed a string of code so that when he successfully shoots someone, internal audio plays the jackpot sound effect (this is true for me, I have that set as my hitsound)
-he's VERY good pals with Builderman, being the only mechanic amongst them. asks for repairs and maintenance from him a lot, which led to them becoming close buddies.
-his creator is named Lady Luck. not much is known about her except for that she's one of the richest people in Robloxia, barring Admins. they are mother and son :)) [she's fucking dead by the way]
Might add more. Remember this signature
- 🌟
Ooooh, robot chance..... neat. Also, I'll try to remember you, 🌟 anon :)

*ੈ✩‧₊˚ 'The Method Isn't Working !'
From robotic affirming and visualization to detailed scripting and listening to the same guided meditation everyday. There are many methods to assist you in manifesting. Key word, assist.
Methods are supposed to assist you, they're not doing the manifesting. They only help you 'let go' and live in the end. However, they're not doing all the work.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ Then, what is making the manifestations happen?
You. Not a subliminal that's several hours long, not the OP, and god-forbid not some post that told you to use the audio for good karma. None of that is what makes you manifest, YOU DO. Why? Because you're the creator of your reality, no one else, but you. Methods only work, when you assume they are.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ Why aren't any working for me?
Because of you. At the end of the day, you are the only thing in the way of getting what you want. LOA is thought based, it's not something higher above you stopping you from getting what you want. It's really just you. I've seen most people that say 'No methods works for me' usually try the methods once, waver and complain, and then look up the newest method on XYZ app or poster. The worst part, you make into a cycle. If you assume and persist a method works, it works. If you assume and persist a method doesn't work, it doesn't work. And that's the honest truth. Most of the time, there's really not even a method needed. Most people just use methods because it assists them to be in the state of being in the end.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ How can I fix this?
Just take a deep breath, and persist. You can retry a method, just make sure not to waver. If you continue to persist, it'll come. You also need to know, manifesting is easy for you. Don't react to the undesirable. If you are constantly doing so, you should work on your self-concept.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ Reflection
You are the one that manifests, not the methods themselves. Assume, persist, and don't waver. Stay in the end goal, live in it. You are a powerful manifestor, embrace it. You got this, I promise. Don't second guess, don't contradict. It's okay.
That'll be all for now. Hope this assisted you in anyway, have a good day my love <3 -Blue

Karen at the Fish Market
While working the fish stall at the market, Eclipse has a poor run in with an angry karen who threatens to take his child from him.
~~~
Twoshot written by my friend @crazedauthor and myself for the sams mer au! They wrote the first chapter and i wrote the second. Eclipse has a not so great day while working at the fish market. :)
Wordcount: 3,861
Relationships: Eclipse/Ruin (qpr)
Content Warning: Panic Attacks
Also on A03!
~~~Chapter 1~~~
Working at a fish stall is about as entertaining as watching paint dry, in Eclipse’s opinion. For the most part, he sits there watching a couple random humans stare at dead fish eyes until a mental connection is built enough for them to decide to buy the smell sea creature. At Ruin and his boss’s request, he doesn’t tell as many people to “hurry the fuck up” anymore, but the temptation is always there. It’s telling that Ruin prefers to nap underneath the stall, curled around Eclipse’s feet. He isn’t sure what’s so much better about napping under the stall, compared to napping on his nice, comfy blanket nest at home, but he admits, begrudgingly, that the company is nice.
However, a recent change in their routine has been the pups choosing to accompany them during market days. With the job being mostly just sitting there and waiting (as well as trying not to scare away potential customers with his sour expression), it’s fairly easy for Eclipse and Ruin to keep an eye on their children during the workday. Sometimes, they decide to stay home instead, but it isn’t uncommon for one or two to join them when work calls.
Particularly their youngest pup, Loon, only a few months hatched. He still retains the usual clingy nature of baby mers, so attempting to detach him from either Ruin or Eclipse when he wants to latch on is a foolish endeavor. As it stands, the tiny spotted pancake is content to lay in Eclipse’s lap as a ball and snooze the afternoon away, so neither of them is too bothered by this. After all, stall days are rather boring and quiet.
That is… until the Karens of the market happen to show up.
"I can't believe this! Is this what you call customer service?"
Eclipse holds back the urge to roll his eyes as this woman's shrill voice assaults his audio processors. He doesn't even understand what she's upset about. He just asked what fish she wants when she said she was ready to buy.
The woman, some lady with short brown hair and sharp, annoyed blue eyes, continues her rant, pointing a manicured finger at Eclipse. "I have been shopping here for years and you don't even know my order? What kind of shop owner doesn't keep track of his regulars' orders?"
Is that really what she's upset about? The fact he asked what she wanted? Eclipse actually does make an irritated huff at that. He will never understand some humans and their thought processes. The woman’s face screws up in disgust, perhaps from his clear disregard for her complaint. However, she still refuses to actually point out a fish she wants. Eclipse may be a robot, but he’s no mind reader.
Just as he's about to speak up to tell the woman to give him her order or fuck off, though, he feels a shift in his lap. The tiny ball, sleeping rather cozily beforehand, unfurls with a growl and suddenly leaps . There is a flash of blue with yellow spots flying through the air before sense returns to Eclipse. He thanks whatever powers that be for his fast reflexes because Loon was halfway to the Karen's face before he managed to grab him, caging the angry pancake in a gentle, but secure grip of his two hands. His urgency to do so nearly knocks over the stall as he bumps it with his legs – thankfully, it remains standing, though the sight of the woman covered in fishy water would have been entertaining.
Loon cries out in annoyance at the prison he finds himself in. Thoughtless, he waves his stumpy arm at Eclipse’s fingers in an attempt to escape, but it proves rather ineffective. The hisses and growls sounding from Loon mix with the Karen's startled gasp... before her noises turn to that of outrage.
"How... HOW DARE YOU!" she screeches, alerting other humans at the market to this situation. Several turn to watch the commotion. Eclipse instinctively pulls Loon closer to his chest, making sure any wrath she exacts is aimed solely at himself instead, and also trying to shield him from the view of others. However, the woman settles for a much more terrifying method to make her displeasure clear. "Owning a mer as a pet is illegal! You think you're above the law just because you're a robot! I will fix that ! You'll never see that mer again once I'm done with you!"
Eclipse freezes. In his hands, Loon continues to fight, now trying to swipe with his fully intact arm at the lady. He is doing his best to protect him from her anger (and in turn protect this ungrateful bitch from Loon's), but her words seem to make his machinery stop like a heart skipping a beat.
"Once I report this, you'll have your rights revoked and that little... creature will be removed from your lacking care at once! You should have thought twice before siccing such a thing at me in broad daylight! You'll have nothing left once I'm done with-"
Suddenly, the Karen falls silent. Eclipse glances to his left to see that Ruin has now crawled out from under the booth and is giving a very wide smile to this customer - though none of it reaches his eyes.
His voice comes out with feigned politeness. "That 'creature' is my pup, miss. Not a pet. And this robot is my mate. You will not be taking our child nor doing any of the other things you've threatened." His lips pull higher, causing his teeth to flash in the sunlight. Despite the casual way he props up his head on one hand, the other hand stands poised on the stall, displaying sharp claws only a couple feet away from her body. "I'd like to see you try~."
The stall finally falls silent as the woman quickly flees the scene. You never threaten a mer's mate or their pup. Sticking around was a disaster waiting to happen and she at least had the presence of mind to figure that out.
Still, Eclipse can't relax. He feels his body shake, the little hand cage for Loon (who is still hissing and trying to escape to pursue the lady) rattles against itself. It is only when Ruin's cool hands fall onto his that he unconsciously relents and lets Loon free - though Ruin is quick to hold him in place lest he continue to make a scene.
As the pup cries out in righteous fury, Ruin gently mlems his face. "Now now, little one. Dad looks rather upset, don't you think? Shouldn't you try to make him feel better? We don't want Dad to be sad!"
Huffing, Loon looks at Ruin with a glare, but reluctantly turns to Eclipse, who sits there as if a statue. The pup heeds his pa's words and scurries up Eclipse's chest, hugging his flat face and mleming against his cheeks. A soft rumbling purr reverberates through his flat body. This action eventually breaks Eclipse from his stupor. Carefully, he brings his hand up to pet Loon’s tiny head, the baby responding in kind with happy cheeps and faster purrs. Eclipse sighs, closing his eyes and letting the sounds soothe his nerves.
Loon is fine... Loon is safe in his arms, away from that woman. Her words still echo in his mind, but for now, he can relax with his family by his side...
~~~Chapter 2~~~
As the shock started to wear down, only then did the panic begin to emerge within Eclipse's mind. He could feel it as it lurked beneath the thin veil of his self control brushing against his mind like ice cold fingers, a soft chilling echo in his mind whispering the words said by that woman on repeat over and over.
You'll never see that mer again once I'm done with you!
As Eclipse continued to spiral, he could distantly hear Ruin as the mer huffed and thumped his tail against the floor in clear displeasure.
"Honestly the nerve of that woman! Can you imagine being so bold as to threaten a pup in front of their parents? Absolutely-"
The mer trailed off once he turned to face his robotic partner. Despite Eclipse's best efforts to hide it, it was clear Ruin could see his distress as the mer's expression shifted from confused to worried, and in an instant he was by Eclipse's side.
"Eclipse? My dear, are you alright?"
Eclipse didn't reply. He dared not to, knowing his voicebox would betray his inner turmoil with garbled static instead of coherant words. And even as Loon continued to hug his face and mlem his rays, it was not enough to stay the anxiety as it rose like a tidal wave, crashing against his emotional walls as they begun to crack, panic seeping through into his mind like poison. The dark orange animatronic released a rattled vent as the first sharp pang struck his chest, and his fans seized and juttered.
Fuck.
Eclipse gripped the table, claws digging into the wood. Loon seemed to realise something was wrong as the little pup cheeped at him, his single hand bapping his forehead. Eclipse shakes his head, no no he's fine he's fine it's nothing he's fine-
Ruin let out a small chuff, and Eclipse felt a webbed hand very gently cup his face making him flinch as the mer carefully guided his face toward him meeting a pair of mismatched eyes from behind the little fins of Loon that still wrapped valiantly around his head.
"Dear," Ruin said softly, running a thumb over Eclipse's cheek, "you are clearly not fine. You are having a panic attack."
Eclipse stared, unable to stop another hitch of his vents. He.. he hadn't realised he'd been saying those words outloud.
Ruin continued, "let us go somewhere else, hm? Somewhere quieter."
He feels a gentle tug on his hand and Eclipse numbly realises that Ruin had slipped his other hand into it at some point without him noticing. The storm continued to rage in his mind, but Eclipse forced himself to keep it contained as Ruin helped him onto his shaky feet. Loon shifted himself on Eclipse's head, clambering up to settle on top instead of covering his face, reaching his single arm down to pat at the space between the animatronics eyes. His own little way of telling his dad he's still there.
"Excuse me miss!" Ruin suddenly speaks up and Eclipse jolts having not realised he was zoning out. He realises Ruin is talking to a human girl and it takes him a moment to remember who she is. Short orange hair, above average height, wearing a tank top with a shark printed on the front and has a tattoo of some kind of seabird on her upper left arm. Can't remember her name, but Eclipse knew she was a co-worker. Usually worked out back sorting the fish crates.
So focused he was on recalling the girl, Eclipse didn't realise Ruin had been talking to her. She was looking at Ruin but her gaze switched between the navy coloured mer and Eclipse a look of sympathy on her expression. Normally Eclipse would have scoffed or snarled at the sight of being pitied at but currently his mind was still stuck in panicked turmoil. He looked away instead.
Another sharp pang shot through his chest and his eyes widened as Eclipse briefly forgot where Loon was, realising he wasn't over his face like before. He shot a hand up to his face, only to feel a tiny webbed hand grip his finger and tiny teeth knaw on the casing before mleming it. The typical but overwhelmingly familiar pattern of Loon making his presence known.
Another hitch fell from Eclipse's vents that left him wanting to shrivel up on the floor from embarressment once he realised his action did not go unnoticed. He may have very well done if it wern't for Ruin still holding his hand, keeping him upright. The mer gave his hand a gentle reassuring squeeze.
"Yeah it's not a problem, I can man the stand easy enough" the red haired girl said, continuing the brief conversation with Ruin that Eclipse had not been tuned in to before. "I saw the whole thing with that karen. She was a real bitch."
Ruin huffed, a small growl lacing his words. "That she was. For her sake, i sure hope not to see her likes about this place again." He muttered darkly, his head frills flaring a little.
"Ugh yeah nah I doubt it. Not when the boss hears about it." The girl flapped her hand, "anyway, you go and get him home safe and sound, yeah? I'll let the big man know what's up and all."
Ruin gave her a grateful smile. "Thankyou my dear. Come along Eclipse, Loon. Let's head home, yes?"
The little pancake pup let out a chirrup from the top of his dad's head and Eclipse himself let out a shaky huff, still not trusting himself to speak. Ruin guided them further behind the stall and through the door that led to the chilled storage room. They walked past the crates of fish where they were lined up against the wall and the animatronic had half a mind to reach up and hover a shaky hand over loon lest the little pup got it into his little fishy brain to diving into them. Thankfully however Loon seemed to be quite content remaining fixed to the top of Eclipse's disc shaped head, his fins gripping tightly around the two rays that were still partially poked out between him.
Once they reached the exit door Ruin pushed it open with a small grunt, the squeaky hinges causing Eclipse to twitch before the three of them were exposed to the cool salty sea air. The evening autumn sun was low in the sky, golden light washing over the robot and two mers soaking them in its warm amber glow.
But it was not enough to stay the sudden wave of anxiety as it crashed full force into Eclipse's mind, causing the robot's legs to buckle beneath him. Now that he was away from prying eyes, with only his partner and child to witness him crumble, Eclipse's walls finally broke and he let out a loud shuddering gasp that quickly developed into hyperventilation.
"Oh Eclipse.." he could barely make out Ruin's voice as the mer carefully settled Eclipse down by the wall. Eclipse shuddered, clutching his chest as a sickening pang of anxiety shot through him. His rays began to twitch and jutter from within his disc, and despite his panic Eclipse had enough sense to reach up and tug Loon off his head before the pup could get poked by his erratic rays. Thankfully the little mer came free without a fuss but immedietely clung to his hand chirruping and purring as he nuzzled against his dad's palm.
Eclipse let out a broken glitched sob as he curled around Loon, drawing his legs up. Ruin cheeped and coiled himself around Eclipse, pressing his forehead to Eclipse's own whilst muttering soft reassurances in both english and his own tongue that Eclipse had long since learned to understand after many days of practicing with Ruin. They helped to drown out the echoed screaming words of that banshee of a woman that continued to haunt his mind.
"Hush. I'm here, we're here. You're alright dear. No one is going to take our child. It's going to be ok." Ruin murmered softly, gently nuzzling Eclipse and stroking his cheeks with his thumbs from where his hands carefully held the sides of his head, keeping their foreheads pressed together.
Another hitch escaped Eclipse's vents, but he closed his eyes and forced himself to focus on the feeling of Ruin pressed against him, his words of reassurance and the feeling of Loon as the little pup purred against his chest and mlemed his fingers. After a while of sitting there together, Eclipse finally felt himself beginning to calm down. The panic slowly receded from his mind, taking with it the distant echos of the womans threats. Though he could still feel it lurking in the back of his mind, Eclipse now had it back under control. He let out a sigh, putting back up whatever remained of his shattered walls as he pulled himself away from Ruin.
The mer watched him carefully as Eclipse leaned back releasing a shaky sigh from his vents, still keeping Loon held securely against his chest. He ran a thumb over the spotted scales as Loon cheeped curiously up at him. "Are you alright now dear?" Ruin asked softly.
Eclipse didn't reply immedietely, needing to take a moment to recalibrate his voicebox since it had glitched out during his panic attack. It took only a few seconds and once it was done he let out the biggest and most exasperated groan, throwing a free arm over his eyes. The sun had since gotten lower but it was still too bright and he was beginning to feel the start of a killer headache forming.
"Fucking peachy."
Ruin huffed a small mirthless laugh, as he shifted closer and mlemed Eclipse's cheek. "Do you feel ok enough to stand?" The mer asked, "would be best if we made our way back home now, yes?"
"Give.. give me a minute Ru," Eclipse sighed tiredly, dropping his arm from his eyes and instead wrapping it around Ruin, while the other hand continued to stroke Loon. "I'm still... recalibrating." He settled on, deciding not to mention the fact that his legs felt like strings of jelly. The mer cheeped and pressed his head against Eclipse with a purr.
"Take your time dear. I can help you walk if needed. I am quite able to do that today so don't fret about that either."
Eclipse rolled his eyes. But before he could respond, suddenly the phone in his pocket which he had completely forgotten about started ringing, startling Eclipse and the two mers with him. Loon hissed and flared his fins but Eclipse pressed him back against his chest before the little pancake tyke could pounce on the device as he weasled it out of his pocket. Ignoring the annoyed squeaks of his child, Eclipse brought the phone out and held it before him.
However the anxiety that lurked in the back of his mind briefly flared again sending a small shooting pang through his chest causing Eclipse to freeze, his mind suddenly jumping to the worst case. What if this was the police calling him? What if the woman had called authorities and they were calling him to tell him Loon would be taken away and Eclipse his rights revoked and-
"Let me answer it sweetheart." Ruin said, breaking Eclipse from his spiralled thoughts as the mer gently plucked the device from the robots hand. Eclipse's fingers twitched but he made no attempt to take it back, instead letting it fall onto his lap, watching as Ruin turned the phone over in his hands before hitting the answer call button.
"Speaking?" Ruin asked politely.
A gruff but familiar voice crackled from the speaker. "Bobby. Is Eclipse there Ruin? He ain't in trouble, but i got word some trouble went down and I wanna know if he's doing alright."
Eclipse felt another brief wave of panic but it died down as soon as his boss mentioned he wasn't in trouble. Ruin glanced over to Eclipse with a sympathetic look as he replied.
"Yes he's with me. Not doing the best i'm afraid, but he is stable, for now at least. I'm taking him home as we speak."
The old man grunted on the other side of the phone, and Eclipse could hear the creak of his chair as he moved. "Alright. Is he alright if i talk to him for a sec? Won't take long."
Ruin looked to Eclipse again with an eyebrow raised, an unspoken question in his eyes. Eclipse sighed, and reached out with his hand. Ruin placed the phone onto his palm, and Eclipse drew it back to hold before his face.
"Yeah?"
He hated the way his voice sounded so croaky, but his boss didn't comment on it, instead jumping straight to the point and asking "you alright son?"
Eclipse huffed a bemused laugh. It was difficult to not retort with an automatic snappish response of 'do i sound fucking ok?' but he managed to grind out a simple "no."
Bobby clicked his tongue. "Yeah figured as much. Now listen, i'm gonna tell you right now you got nothing to worry about. I heard about what that woman said to ya', Katherine gave me the whole thing and I confirmed it on the cameras. She's on the blacklist so she won't be coming back again."
Eclipse blinked. Oh so that was the red haired girls name-
Bobby continued, "that lady was talkin' shit too by the way. There ain't no way anyones gonna come for your partner or your kid, definitely not in this town. She could land herself in real trouble trying to take a pup from it's parents afterall."
Eclipse pressed Loon a little closer to himself, recalling the vague threat Ruin gave the woman, teeth and claws on full display. "Yeah.."
"Alright son. You get yourself home and rested, yeah? Take tomorrow off if you need it too, i got folk who can cover ya. You'll get yer' paid leave and all too, just let me know beforehand if you can."
Eclipse nodded despite his boss not being able to see it. "Sure. Thankyou." he added on quietely.
"Don't worry about it. Take care of yourself now."
And with that Bobby hung up. Eclipse let out a long sigh as he dropped his arm with the phone still in hand, relief blooming in his chest and the tension in his mind finally starting to ease up more. Only he immedietely had to jerk his hand back up again when Loon made a sudden mad dash for the device in his hand.
Eclipse grumbled a curse as he shoved the device quickly back into his pocket, holding Loon back as he did so. "Stop that!"
Loon growled and swatted in the direction of the pocket as Eclipse scooped him further away. Ruin chuckled, leaning in to nuzzle Loon affectionately which helped cease his gremlin behaviour before looking up at Eclipse with a soft look.
"Shall we head on home then?"
Eclipse sighed. "Yeah. I think i can stand now."
Ruin grinned, and he shifted himself next to Eclipse who allowed Ruin to manouver his arm around the mers shoulders before helping him stand to his feet. The animatronic stumbled only a little before he regained his balance. Ruin kept his hand wrapped around his though, giving Eclipse's hand a small squeeze which the animatronic returned while Loon scrambled up onto his shoulder and then back to his perch on top of Eclipse's head, sitting quite proudly between his rays.
With that and a gentle tug from his partner, Eclipse allowed Ruin to lead them back home.
finally getting brave enough to use this blog. hopefully will keep using it i make 0 promises though
anyway. BEHOLD. my winston headcanon designs
more extensive thoughts/headcanons and doodles belowww
i know a lot of people dont agree but as far as im concerned, shes always been a skelecog. she was built specifically for COGS inc pretty much as is
besides the radio head. that happened later, but still before they made moves into toontown. yes hes been a part of the company that long
has actual radio functions built into them. the intent is for him to be able to tap into existing radio broadcasts as a literal live advertisement. insidious!
i dont have many thoughts on this design because this is borderline "canon" winston. besides the eyelashes. which they should give him canonically.
no i havent figured out what the dagger is logically. its just a part of her ok
i guess i could talk about personality headcanons but i wont. yet. i need some content for other posts if i want to keep this blog alive
winston is in the dungeon for a LOOOONG time. im talking over 5 years baby. id make her more visually fucked up but i dont want to make details mcgee more complex to draw
if i was powerful id make more of her visually broken and those joint problems external in some way. thats for someone else to do though
several of her other not visible functions are long broken; plenty of her internal systems have long gone non-functional, including her radar, propellor, and ability to access some of her internal databanks (ie: memory)
her balance, visual and audio processors (sight/hearing) and control of her limbs fail occasionally too. her voicebox is broken (we know this) but it hasnt entirely failed.
system errors are effectively like an abscence seizure. BSOD for robots, basically
if im being realistic the whole glitching through walls shouldnt exist with how seriously im taking him. but it does anyway because i like fun
WHEELCHAIR WINSTON
this idea has lived rent free in my head for years its about time i got round to this
anyway while shes in the dungeon they do just effectively get fired on paper after a while; so when they show their face back up for real, he does just get fired officially for reals
he ends up finding refuge with old friends; william and alton. im not getting into my awesome dynamics with them here but they were close before the dungeon happened
he gets semi-patched up by will, whos learned some level of self maintenance thanks to his horrible leaky suit. will isn't familiar with skelecog maintenance though, so he could only fix some of his simpler problems
besides the external patch-ups, shes managed to get some simpler system fixes from him, enough to at least help with the frequent system errors and the glitching problems. theyre both still present, but not as severe.
everything else is still a problem though. in fact, some of them have gotten worse, particularly with his arms and legs. theyre prone to fail on a moments notice, and she tends not to go far without some sort of mobility device after a while.
IN SUPER DENIAL ABOUT BEING FIRED. he takes up a bunch of hobbies to keep himself busy now they dont have a job and makes herself a scarf in bootleg sellbot colours so they can pretend. they have to go through an arc before getting over that sorry.
can you tell this is the thing ive put the most thought into
okayyyyy thanks everyone who actually read alla that biiiiieeeeee
#winston byrd#public relations representative#toontown#toontown corporate clash#ttcc#hi everyone im crawling out the woodwork with this blog#look at my extensive refs of a character like 5 other people like#i like her. a lot#(looks at my url)#if you hadnt guessed already#i think she is awesome though and i had fun drawing these. i think it took me over a week lol#um. intelligent commentary go#...#I LOVE WINSTON BYRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#idk im bad at thinking. send in an ask if you want to know more about my very extensive winston headcanons#which i didnt go over just so this isnt like#10000 words long
So, I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I’m here to tell you there’s nothing to worry about, Uh, you’ll do fine. So, let’s just focus on getting you through your first week, okay?
Uh, let’s see, first there’s an introductory greeting from the company, that I’m supposed to read. Uh, it’s kind of a legal thing, you know.
Um, “Welcome to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovering that damage or death has occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced.” Blah blah blah.
Now that might sound bad, I know. But, there’s really nothing to worry about.
Uh, the animatronic characters here, do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No. If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath? I’d probably be irritable at night too. So, remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay.
So, just be aware, the characters do tend to wander a bit. Uh, they’re left in some kind of free roaming mode at night. Something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long? Uh, they used to be allowed to walk around during the day too, but then there was The Bite of ’87. Yeah. I-It’s amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you know?
Uh, now concerning your safety. The only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, if they happen to see you after hours probably won’t recognize you as a person. They’ll most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on. Now, since that’s against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, they’ll probably try to…forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit. Um, now, that wouldn’t be so bad, if the suits themselves weren’t filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices. Especially around the facial area. So you could imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort, and death. Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask. Heh. Yeah, they don’t tell you these things when you sign up.
But hey, first day should be a breeze. I’ll chat with you tomorrow. Uh, check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if absolutely necessary. Gotta conserve power. Alright, good night.
Happy Audio Drama Sunday! This week I am a little behind actually, but there were still some episodes that really hit.
📹 I’m a huge fan of the horror anthology Thirteen anyway, but this particular episode was especially creepy. What started out as an implied werewolf situation became something SO much worse. I think something about these particular characters really emphasizes the horror—a pair of teenagers with a little crush and a heap of determination between them. And all that is not enough.
🏠 Ghosts in the Burbs has evolved over time, but the reason I listen is that Liz Sower is a fantastic writer, and now she’s posting a new story about the inherent horror of keeping up with the Joneses. This first episode of the series established the worldbuilding of the cul-de-sac, and already I am feeling the unsettling cleanness of this place.
✨ @vestaclinicpod is building their second season masterfully, adding this slow exploration of backstory and additional character conflicts to their already fantastic premise. Every episode this season has been a banger, but I love watching an unassailable wall of serious confidence absolutely lose her cool. Xaelest Adra needs support too, even if it’s from a ridiculous baby doctor and an AI she’s got serious beef with.
🤖 And speaking of powerful second seasons, @monstrousproductions’ latest episode of Travelling Light delivers a solid one-two punch of a disabled robot (I love them?????) and the mortifying ordeal of being known. Our traveller gets called the heck out by the person maybe most qualified to do so—and Óli makes a decision too, based on their own new uncomfortable understanding of themself. I’m proud of these two for getting some perspective. After all, that’s kind of what travelling is for.
🚀 Yayyyyy @fortunepod is back! And I'm really loving what they're doing with silence and quiet--Starship Iris has the background hum of the ship behind everything, and Fortune does have some background noise, but it fades in a way that really emphasizes how huge and quiet space really is. I'm very interested to see what this new development with Alice and the visitor in her head is going to become, and I'm absolutely frothing over any details of Aaric's species. Tell me the alien facts, plz.
That's it for me! Have a good week!
