Possible songs; love 'em? Hate 'em? Let me know!

I've got 27 songs that fit this year's primary theme of "reunion" and/or our seven themes:

I tried to get songs from either Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters' original 2000-2004 run, or from the last year (2022-2023).

And because I suck at musical discovery, I had to ask AI (Claude.ai, Bing Chat, and GPT-4+plugins) to help me out. 😆 Of course, I listened (or already know) almost all of the below songs, and think they somehow either fit Seto Kaiba, Anzu Mazaki/Téa Gardner, or their relationship in line with this year's themes.

Day 18: Hackneyed

Aymeric was on the couch reading when Kitali finally emerged from the bath, still squeezing water from her hair.

“You have a letter,” he said, nodding to the sealed envelope on the side table. “It arrived a couple days ago.”

“Who’s it from?”

“No idea. Some secret admirer, by the looks of it.”

She scoffed, and then made a noise of disgust when she held up the letter. Aymeric chuckled, knowing how the address of “Dearest Warrior of Light” with a dramatic heart beneath would be received. The snap of the wax seal being broken was followed by the sound of papers shuffling against each other.

“Four pages,” she said. “Front and back.”

He looked up from his book to see her holding the letter as though it were a rotten head of chyshal greens. The curl of her lip did not lessen as she read first one page, then the back, then the second, before at last she rolled her eyes and marched across the room to throw the whole bundle into the fire with a shower of sparks.

Aymeric nearly choked on the mouthful of tea he had just taken.

“That bad, was it?”

She settled onto the couch, rubbing a hand across her eyes as she laid her head in his lap.

“Yeah, that bad. I don’t know why people keep sending me shit like that, it’s not as if it’s a secret we’re married.”

“What, you don’t think you can do better than a bastard from only a minor house?” he joked. “I’m sure you could if you tried.”

“But I don’t want to do better than a bastard from a minor house,” she said, looking up at him. “I want you.”

Warmth bloomed in his chest, as it always did when she looked at him like that. He leaned into the hand that she brought up to his cheek and pressed a lingering kiss to her palm.

“And what, pray tell, did your mystery admirer say to you to earn such a fiery rejection?”

Kitali sighed. “So. He started with an actual introduction.”

“Already better than the last one,” Aymeric remarked.

“Better than the last one,” she agreed. “Then the first page or so was spent extolling my many virtues-” she rolled her eyes mockingly- “half of which were exaggerated and the other half were entirely fabricated. Then he started making all sorts of assumptions about how I must surely be a ‘woman of the world’, whatever that’s supposed to mean, and how I would surely be in want of a partner who could match my sense of adventure. And then he suggested that I run away with him, at which point I threw it in the fire. I have no interest in reading what he thinks would happen on such an affair.”

“Hm. Not very original, I must say,” Aymeric hummed. “I think I have…...no less than three books on that shelf alone that follow the very same plot.”

Kitali chuckled.

“The whole thing read like a bad soup of every two gil romance book I’ve ever read. It was so-” She stopped, motioning searchingly in front of her. “What’s the word. There has to be a word.”

“Hackneyed,” Aymeric supplied. “Cliched. Trite.”

“Sure, one of those.” She sighed again. “I leave for a tenday and this is what I come home to.”

Valentine's Week, Day 6, Fic 2

Five minutes.

Macaque had been gone for five minutes.

And instead of coming back to Wukong's lovely warm lap, his soft fingers ready to groom through his hair, he came to the awful scene of Azure Lion's head in Wukong's lap. The sight was almost ridiculous, considering the height difference, but Macaque was more focused on the annoyance that rose up.

How dare Azure?! Wukong's lap was meant for his head! The lion could swoon over the king all he wanted, but Wukong's attention was his. 

Macaque marched up and humphed, glaring at the lion. "What is this?" he huffed.

Wukong, at least, looked up and aimed that sunshine-sweet smile at him. Despite his annoyance, Macaque felt himself relax, just a little. "Hi, Macaque! Azure was just wondering what grooming felt like. So I figured I would groom him."

"And I thank you, my king," Azure cracked an eye open and Macaque felt himself bristle. Oh, he knew Macaque was annoyed. "It's very relaxing."

"Then can you move over, just a bit. I was grooming Macaque and he needs to be finished," Wukong patted his shoulder. "I have two hands, so I can do both of you!"

Azure sighed and moved. Macaque settled next to him, their shoulders pressed against each other.

It was a little awkward, considering how small Wukong's lap really was, but Macaque relaxed once Wukong's fingers began to gently card through his hair.

He could share. Just a little bit.

i have done NOTHING but play rougelike poker (balatro) for 5 DAYS and the hyperfocus that comes from it is doing fighting game combos on me. it's 4 am. i have done nothing but play this game for 3 hours straight AGAIN. my head hurts my back hurts i am dehydrated as fuck and i am so fucking sleepy. sorry for not being around as much i did NOT get a life but i think i got even less of one

Oc kiss 2024 day 3 - Sunrise!

Today, the sun rose on a new day.

In fact, it was the first day of summer - the first summer Hayune experienced in a long time. Of course, Hayune wouldn't dare miss it's rising.

As always, with each passing day, a fear lingered in him - of new problems arising, of having to hit the reset button one more time - and of course, no longer having the ability to do so.

But he promised Celebi - on the summer solstice, he would set them free. This was that time.

So, he pulled the GS ball from his hiding place, and after a deep breath… he hit the release.

Celebi sprung out, stretching arms to the sky, trilling happily with a stretch. It turned around, looking at Hayune with their head tilted.

He dropped the ball on the ground, and after a moment of hesitation, crushed it under his heel. “There. Free forever. I hope you never need me to fix fate. Ever again. But… I'll be happy to have some lunch with you in some years, if you want.” he rambled softly.

The little mythical squealed happily, throwing her arms around Hayune's neck. One last time, the little celebi spoke telepathically to him.

“Thank you! Goodbye!”

Gently, he hugged the little pokemon back. “Goodbye.” He replied.

With that, the little green pokemon flew off. And slowly, as it danced in the sunrise, Celebi's colors gradually changed.

Slowly, the green body faded pink - a symbol that they had finally gotten quite old. Many times before, it was a sign of their wilting. But this time, the change was not brought on by exhaust drying them up. It was brought on naturally.

After all, today was their birthday. This Celebi's, at least.

He watched for a while, and eventually, he heard footsteps.

“There you are.” Rust spoke, “didn't think you'd do it so… quick.”

“Are you going to be okay?” Azure asked.

Hayune shrugged. “I promised them I'd let them go. Better to rip the bandaid off, right? I just… hope we'll see each other again, someday. When we're both all healed up.”

“I'm sure you will!” Azure replied, doing their best to comfort him, “We'll be right by your side as much as you need us.”

“Yep.” Rust agreed, “No gettin’ rid of us.”

Hayune smiled a bit. “Thanks, guys.” He turned away from the bright sun's rays, sighing softly. “I'm happy for them. I just… can't shake the nervousness. You know how it is…”

At that time, Rust and Azure glanced at each other as Hayune moved away slightly. A quiet agreement was met between them, as they had discussed the ways to lift their partner up before meeting here. Rust was very embarrassed about it, but just about as determined as Azure was, reassured by her mischievous smile.

They nod to each other, and then move.

Rust grabbed Hayune, hand landing clumsily on his chest, while Azure tugged at his arm.

“Huh? Guys, whats-” Hayune began, only to be cut off as the two leaned in.

Rust had to lean down, and Azure had to stretch up a bit, but they each planted a kiss on Hayune's cheeks at the same time.

The result? Hayune's brain screeched to a halt, his face flushed red. His worried thoughts drowned in happy static.

After some moments, the two pulled away. Rust was bright red, while Azure was more composed.

“Sorry if you didn't like that.” Rust muttered, flipping his hood up. “It was Azy's idea to surprise attack ya.”

“Says the guy that immediately agreed to it with no hesitation.” Azure smirked. “You're so silly! You have no problem flirting, but you're all hot and bothered over doin’ somethin’ so tame!”

“Well-! I-! It's just-!” Rust stammered, getting redder as his voice cracked, “Different! FUCK-”

At that, Hayune's brain finally rebooted in full. Smiling blissfully, he said, “Can I have another?”

“Oh- sure, sweetheart!”

“I'm gonna croak, but… s-sure, fine.”

Aside from kicking off the brainstorming for this year's overarching theme, "video games," I have unfortunately had little input on this year's fun prompts (due to having moved, started a new job, and dealing with very demanding toddler):

Day 2: Nap

The gentle breeze and dappled shadows soon lulled them into a midday doze. When they awoke, it was to be surrounded by a sea of fluffy white. In a surprising turn of events, it would seem the karakul had counted them instead.

I may be late to Gunvolts Anniversary! I might be early! Who knows! All I know is I'm very happy to finish this and celebrate a whole year of enjoying this game and its characters, I'm not sure I'd have such a fun time with my friends if it wasn't for this game series. To more years to come! :]
