Slugbell, or ‘The Soulminder’ is a young slugcat that was found and raised by the iterator Sundered Steel, who trains her and genetically modifies her to infiltrate the superstructure of Descending Starless Night, where her goal is to implement a fake ‘slag reset key’ that will actually terminate DSN’s system and kill him.

Slugbell has a total of nine food pips and only needs four to hibernate. She is be able to use various soul energy attacks which receive a tiny damage boost the higher your karma is (or if you have a spear, much like how Wolfbell needs to have a sword to channel her magic!) at the cost of food pips, the bigger the attack the higher the cost. Much like Wolfbell can, Slugbell can very easily climb up vertical walls and structures and hold her breath under water for a long time. Slugbell also has the maul mechanic. Another unique function is the use of her bells, which will jingle when other beings have noticed Slugbell.

While this does seem a little broken, it’s all skills very necessary to survive DSN’s superstructure, where he has been cooking up many different monstrous creatures that without Slugbell’s skills could not be survived.

She does have her drawbacks of course, other hazards would include Slugbell being a bit of an insomniac and anxious, causing her to wake up early before a rain cycle can finish and forcing you to have to try to navigate through the rain. And because poor baby anxious, sometimes she’ll fire off her soul magic without player input as she’s scared, wasting food pips.

Sundered Steel legit threw this anxious rodent at Descending Starless Night in hopes it would kill this other giant super computer god.
