“I haven’t in years, honestly, but I remember— it was awhile ago now, maybe two or three years ago, I was pretty drunk after a night out. I listened to the whole thing. Top to bottom. The whole discography. Like, the whole thing. Either that, or every single song I really loved. It was actually… by the end of it, I was definitely really proud of all the stuff that we’d made! I don’t really know why I haven’t since then, I suppose I’ve been a little bit preoccupied with my stuff! But also, I’m singing them onstage as well, so yeah. I’m really really proud of what we did in the band, definitely.”

Random Fact #6,445
The word in Brazilian Portuguese for "billboard" is the English word "outdoor" (pronounced "ouch-d'awr").

^ A Brazilian billboard celebrating Trump's loss (the text reads "Bye, darling/babe!", basically the Brazilian equivalent of "Bye Felicia!")

Billboard USA Exclusion Zone Episode 11 (05/13/2023)
Tumblr media
I'll be honest with you, last week I didn't do this episode of USA Exclusion Zone because I saw Alone by Kim Petras & Nicki Minaj debuted while I'm in the middle of taking care of finishing my college degree and just tuned out. Thankfully we only have five songs debuted but all of them are interesting.
-----------------------------------------------------------
39. "UNFORGIVEN" by LE SSERAFIM ft. Nile Rodgers
I have been a fan of this girlband for sometimes ever since Fearless and this song really just solidified my opinion on them as one of the best girlband in the new generation. That guitar by Nile Rodgers is just bruhhhhh.
169. "Conexoes de Mafia" by Matue ft. Rich the Kid
Okay seems like we have another Brazilian song here and it's a trap rap song...wait why is Rich the Kid here? I guess it's fitting that he's here because this sounds like what trap song sounds like around 2018.
177. "Money Trees" by Kendrick Lamar ft. Jay Rock
I'm of the opinion that TikTok is filled the niche of Gen Z the same way YouTube does towards millennials. But with TikTok and how Billboard do their streaming tracking, it can make any songs that became a hit on TikTok to have some charting presence whether it's for better or worse. This one is definitely for the better because...it's a deepcut from Good Kid, m.A.A.d City which is a 9/10 album.
188. "Que Sera Sera" by Mrs. Green Apple
Tbh after the departure of Ayaka Yamanaka, this band weren't the same anymore. If I would describe this band now...Imagine if Panic! At The Disco but they made Pray for the Wicked right after A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
199. "Rosa Pastel" by Peso Pluma ft. Jasiel Nunez
You know I was vibing with this song...then the trumpets and horns happened.
I highly recommend everyone to listen to these songs.

“My favourite album… I love Made In The A.M. and it’s also the latest— the last one. It’s intersting because we didn’t really tour that record, so I think there’s a lot of untapped potential in that record, for sure. But for me, Midnight Memories was a real moment for both us as artists and as songwriters. We were really getting opportunities that we wanted to as songwriters, I think the sonic and the sound of the record changed quite drastically from the record before, Take Me Home, so yeah, probably Midnight Memories.”

Madonna - Like a Prayer 1989
"Like a Prayer" is a song by American singer Madonna and was released as the lead single from her 1989 fourth studio album of the same name. Written and produced by both Madonna and Patrick Leonard, the song heralded an artistic and personal approach to songwriting for Madonna, who believed that she needed to cater more to her adult audience. Along with the parent album, "Like a Prayer" was a turning point in Madonna's career, with critics starting to acknowledge her as an artist rather than a mere pop star.
"Like a Prayer" is a pop rock and gospel song that also incorporates elements of funk. The lyrics contain liturgical words, but they have been interpreted by some people to have dual meanings of sexual innuendo and religion. "Like a Prayer" was acclaimed by music critics upon release and was a global commercial success, becoming Madonna's seventh number 1 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100, topping the Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks and also topping the charts in many other countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain and the UK. It was Madonna's fifth number 1 hit on the Eurochart Hot 100, and stayed at number one for 12 weeks.
The accompanying music video for "Like a Prayer", directed by Mary Lambert, shows a white woman being sexually assaulted and subsequently killed by a group of white men, but a black man is arrested for the crime. The video depicts a church and Catholic symbols such as stigmata. It also features the Ku Klux Klan's burning crosses and a dream sequence about kissing a black saint. Leon Robinson was hired to play the role of a saint; the part was inspired by Martin de Porres, the patron saint of mixed-race people and all those seeking interracial harmony. The Vatican condemned the video, while family and religious groups protested against its broadcast. They boycotted products by soft drink manufacturer Pepsi, who had used the song in their commercial. Pepsi canceled their sponsorship contract with Madonna, but allowed her to retain the $5 million fee.
While most TV stations banned the music video, MTV notably continued to air the video on heavy rotation. The controversies leading to her "Like a Prayer" video introduced the concept of free publicity and became a turning point where Madonna was viewed as a shrewd businesswoman who knows how to sell a concept. At the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards, the video for "Like a Prayer" was nominated in the Viewer's Choice and Video of the Year categories, winning the former. It was number one on MTV's countdown of "100 Videos That Broke the Rules" in 2005, and for the channel's 25th anniversary, viewers voted it as the "Most Groundbreaking Music Video of All Time". In addition, the video was ranked at number 20 on Rolling Stone's "The 100 Top Music Videos", and at number two on VH1's 100 Greatest Videos. In a 2011 poll by Billboard, the video for "Like a Prayer" was voted the second-best music video of the 1980s, behind only Michael Jackson's "Thriller". According to Screen Rant, "Like a Prayer" is one of the most used Madonna's songs in movies and television, most recently notably featured in the 2024 film Deadpool & Wolverine.
"Like a Prayer" received a total of 87,9% yes votes! Previous Madonna polls: #18 "Who's That Girl", #184 "Live to Tell".

Madonna played the final shows of The Celebration Tour, closing her six-month trek with $225.4 million and 1.1 million tickets sold over 80 shows, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore.
The Celebration Tour is Madonna’s sixth trek to gross more than $100 million. The only other acts to achieve this are the Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and U2, making her the sole woman in this elite group.
The Celebration Tour pushes Madonna’s reported career total to $1.6 billion and – without accounting for the Brazil show – 12.8 million tickets.

Ekko and Jinx's History: A Simple Comment
So I read something the other day talking about how fans are making Ekko and Jinx's relationship romantic and not all male and female characters HAVE to be romantically involved. I agree with this. I'll go so far as to say that this is true for any character of any gender. In my own writing (with my original characters) I rarely have romantic undertones. Mostly just friends being friends. While I get the allure of the romantic chase, of most people we deal with in life we aren't connecting to them romantically. Friends are friends.
That said, this is not the case with Ekko and Jinx. From Ekko's release in 2015 there has always been some romantic undertones with Jinx. Riot has always been a bit mysterious about what his relationship is with Jinx. Ekko even has a line in the game where he says:
Tumblr media
The foundation had been laid long before Arcane was released in 2021.
Between 2015 and 2021 (when Arcane was released), a lot of official art and such dropped hints about SOMETHING going on between them. Much like Jinx being Vi's sister. You have to remember that this was originally a secret. It was Ghostcrawler who finally confirmed fan theories, even though he tried to walk it back later. Oops! Ha, ha!
Tumblr media
(An image from 2015)
To add to the mystery, on both of their official pages, Ekko is listed as connected to Jinx and Jinx is listed as connected to Ekko. However, at no point does Riot explain how they're connected. Their stories don't mention the other at all. So this means that some things were planned, but they weren't ready to reveal. I'm still of a mind that they were waiting to use Arcane as a vehicle to get into Jinx's history and how that intersected with Ekko and Vi. Before Arcane, we knew very little about Jinx and how she ends up the way she does.
Then, before Arcane came out we got this little nugget in Legends of Runeterra:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember, this is 100% from Riot themselves. Not the fans. Riot laid the seeds down and it was the fans who picked up on it and ran. I doubt anyone would have ever thought there was something between Ekko and Jinx without Riot dropping hints. By the time we got to Arcane Season 1, the train was already in motion.
Let's not even forget the insane number of Jinx references in the True Damage video they released in 2020. Generally it wasn't odd to see Ekko and there would be some sort of Jinx reference somewhere. That wasn't true for Jinx until recently.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Arcane, Riot themselves has been dropping hints like crazy. Jinx has been putting Ekko's hourglass symbol on stuff. League Brazil did a huge Twitter AMA with Star Guardian Ekko and Jinx. Jinx goes to the Grammys with Ekko.
Tumblr media
Another official Ekko and Jinx moment. Check out her shirt!
And let's not forget this one for the Billboard Music Awards:
Tumblr media
They went to the event together!
So...while I see people saying that the fans were to blame for Jinx and Ekko being romantically involved, it should be pointed out that this is all Riot's doing. The best part is that the fans have been largely receptive to their efforts in promoting the couple. Riot has waited a long time to be able to say what they want to say about them.
And if there is any doubt about where they're going with them as a couple, let's just remember this cover for the art book for Arcane:
Tumblr media
Another official piece done by Riot and Fortiche themselves.
Sorry for the long post, but I thought it was important to point out that it's not the fans who set this up. It'll be interesting to see where this all goes, but based on their track record so far, it should be clear where the end game is headed.
Thanks for reading!
