Unpopular opinion: There is no Link Click “trio.” It’s just the ShiGuang Duo + Qiao Ling
Now, before the Qiao Ling fans come after me, I just want to make it clear that I do not hate Qiao Ling. She’s a queen, and I love her. What I do hate, however, is the writers’ neglect of her character.
Warning: This will contain major Link Click season 1 and 2 spoilers.
Cheng Xiaoshi, Lu Guang, and Qiao Ling have been marketed as the main trio right from the OPs and EDs all the way to the different official artworks and PVs. But despite this, Qiao Ling has never been portrayed like a protagonist in the story itself. Her value has always been tied to some other character, and what’s sadder is that even as a supporting character, she’s still being neglected by the writers.
Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang both have something in themselves that push the story forward. Cheng Xiaoshi’s recklessness in s1 is what gives tension to the dives and what leads to the overarching plot related to Emma. His planning in s2 also keeps the plot going. On the other hand, Lu Guang acts as the voice of reason, grounding the fantasy aspect of the show. His hypocrisy revealed in s2 also reshapes how we view the entire story.
But what about Qiao Ling?
Throughout most of season 1, she’s been kept in the dark about ShiGuang’s powers, which in turn excludes her from a big part of the story. In s1, it was only during the kidnapping arc that we see a bit more about her, but the focus wasn’t on her at all but on some random extra. And at the last episode when she finally gets to be in on the whole eye power thing, Li Tianchen possesses her, overshadowing Qiao Ling entirely and redirecting our attention and interest to him. (Extra: In season 1, between Qiao Ling and Emma, would you dare say Qiao Ling is the protagonist? I bet you won’t.)
Then in s2, despite Qiao Ling’s extra screen time and more involvement in the plot, the neglect of her character is even more palpable. She got possessed by a murderer, nearly killed her friend, and even tried to stab her own brother, but even after all these, we barely get to see how she had to process everything.
It’s really no surprise many people loved this scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This, for me, is the one time, the ONE time Qiao Ling is portrayed as a character on equal grounds with Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang. If Link Click were a sports anime, this would be the scene where she discards her role as the female manager over a bunch of male athletes and expresses her desire to become a player as well.
But unfortunately, after this episode, Qiao Ling is once again pushed to the sidelines. She’s a player now, yes, but a player who’s just being pushed along the game. She may take the initiative in some things (like talking to Li Tianxi), but even then, the things she do are all still just to help her friends. You know, like a supporting character. None of what she’s doing is for herself alone. (If any Blue Lock fans are reading this, Qiao Ling has no “ego,” so to speak.)
Qiao Ling has no goals of her own, and this is how the writers failed her.
All the other major characters have their own goals. Heck, even the antagonists are more like protagonists than Qiao Ling.
Cheng Xiaoshi wants to find his parents. And he also just wants to help the people he meets in dives
Lu Guang selfishly broke the rules of time travel just to keep one man alive and will do it again if he must
Li Tianxi betrays her brother and Qian Jin just to find a way home
Li Tianchen approaches ShiGuang and later kidnaps Cheng Xiaoshi because he also wants to go home
And Liu Xiao wants to, I don’t know, change the rules of time and space entirely?
God, writing that last bullet makes me realize that even Liu Xiao, who only showed up in the last episode of season 2, has more weight in the story than Qiao Ling. This is ridiculous.
Seriously, what is Qiao Ling even here for??? Play big sister???
Just market her as a supporting character. It’s fine. She’s still badass.
I also don’t have much hopes over how she will be in season 3 because of how season 2 ended. Qiao Ling seeing Lu Guang’s memories means her worth in s3 will inevitably be tied to this secret. It’s the s1 ending all over again. At the end of s1, her worth was tied to the mysterious Red Eyes. At the end of s2, it’s tied to Lu Guang.
If the Link Click writers are gonna keep pushing her as a protagonist, then they better start treating her like one!
It’s not enough to just give Qiao Ling a goal, by the way (although it is very important too). She must also become a player who has the power to control how the game goes. If she ends up inheriting Li Tianxi’s powers, as many theories have said, then may the drama around her not be focused on how she may leak Lu Guang’s secret at any time.
I don’t know what she could do with her powers, but I think it would be very interesting if she ends up opposing Lu Guang.
Lu Guang wants to keep Cheng Xiaoshi alive, but...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...he’s no longer alive. The Cheng Xiaoshi we see is just a glimpse of the past...
What if… as Qiao Ling sees more of Lu Guang’s memories, she sees more of the real Cheng Xiaoshi and suddenly… wants to let go… wants to move on?
The fandom have talked a lot about how ShiGuang may react once the secret is out. But what about how Qiao Ling would react to it over time as she realizes those memories weren’t just her overthinking things?
In season 1, she couldn’t bear to face that kid’s father for years, and at the end of s2, she couldn’t bear to confront Lu Guang… In s3, how long can she bear looking at her dead brother?
The chances of her “giving up” Cheng Xiaoshi and returning to the original timeline is slim, though. I’m just giving an example of how she can be more like a protagonist.
Anyways, I’ll end here… I still have so many thoughts, but I can’t figure out how to organize them. This has also been in my drafts for over two weeks and I just want to post it already!

What animes will I be watching in Winter 2023? (+ Staff Roundup) - Part 1
For leftovers from last season, I have Blue Lock and To Your Eternity 2, which I will continue to watch. Now on to the new shows! I will admit and say that Winter 2023 on paper doesn't seem like the most exciting season ever, however I have been surprised before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Buddy Daddies: Direction: Asai Yoshiyuki Series Composition: Kakihara Yuuko, Shimokura Vio Character Design: Sako Souichirou Studio: P.A. Works
P.A. Works has always been known for their original animes more so than their adaptation of manga series. Though recently they did adapt a heartwarming show in Ya Boy Kongming! They're now back in their roots with Buddy Daddies, the latest original anime in their lineup. Right up in the vein of Spy X Family, Buddy Daddies appear to be a family-centric story about two people with a dangerous profession who becomes intertwined with a little girl. The premise alone makes it one of the more interesting shows coming out in Winter 2023. Asai Yoshiyuki is not a director I have a lot of experience with except for some of his work in Fate/Apocrypha a series I didn't end up finishing mostly because of my school schedule at the time (I ended up forgetting about it). But Fate/Apocrypha if anyone has any praise for it, it has to be the action. Though Yoshiyuki himself probably wasn't very much involved in that aspect as a lot of the action praise likely goes to the action director, who we'll be talking about in the Fate/Strange Fake section. From my memory and just checking out the screenshots that people are posting on Twitter, his layouts are fairly nice, though I don't think he makes the best use of his lighting. It's sometimes overly dark and too many effects applied honestly. Looking at the trailer for Buddy Daddies, here it doesn't seem to be suffering from those issues due to it being a different style of anime completely. It's much brighter and less cinematic so I don't think those issues will plague the show. I wish I can talk more about Asai Yoshiyuki but aside from some nice wide-shot layouts, that I've seen from him and the flaws I've mentioned. I don't have too much to say. I expect Buddy Daddies action direction to be a bit above what P.A. Works has done in the past from eyeing the trailer, but I wouldn't be expecting anything similar to the output in Fate/Apocrypha. It should be a fun time on paper similar to this season's Akiba Maid War, maybe slightly limited animation at times but it's campy and fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fate/strange Fake: Whispers of Dawn (Special): Director: Enokido Shun, Sakazume Takahito Series Composition: ??? Character Design: Yamada Yuukei Studio: A-1 Pictures
My reason for watching this series is well... I watch every Fate series. At the time that I'm writing this, there hasn't been much footage of the actual anime. So only the last image is actually from the project, while the other 3 images are from Fate/Strange Fake PV from a couple years ago. However, the staff from that PV is returning to work on the special here, so it'll look very similar. To tell you the truth I was a little disappointed that it was A-1 Pictures again for a Fate project and especially with some similar staff not only is it the same character designer, but both of the directors also worked as action directors on Fate/Apocrypha. One of the praised aspects of Fate/Apocrypha was definitely its action, so this is a good sign for Strange Fake here.. But I'm just slightly disappointed. A majority of the Fate anime series have often been done by different studios. Shaft, ufotable Silver Link, Deen, Troyca, and of course A-1 Pictures. I would have loved to see another studio's take on a Fate series, but this is more of a personal gripe. From the small glimpses we saw of Prelati, I personally think she looks great in the anime. They've captured her personality really well with her look so big credit to Yamada Yuukei. I think the designs as far as I can tell seem much more appealing than the character designs in Fate/Apocrypha. Much bolder and more stylized. The composition of the scene is also really nice, varying different color tones throughout, with warm lighting playing favor to the character's face in an otherwise shot with a cool color range. It's unfortunate that this isn't a full series, but I'm for sure going to be watching this and it's likely one of the animes I'm most hyped about in Winter 2023 regardless of my small gripes with the repeat staff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In/Spectre 2: Director: Gotou Keiji Series Composition: Takagi Noboru Character Design: Matsumoto Kentarou Studio: Brain's Base
I've for the most committed to watching most sequels of shows I've seen before as long as I didn't completely dislike them. In/Spectre Season 1 was something I had several positive things I liked about it. The main protagonist in Kotoko is very likable, I can't say the same about her boyfriend in Kuro though. I thought their relationship was very constrained. The anime overall had solid production as you would expect from a Brain's Base work, it didn't blow my mind or anything of the sort, but it was good enough to watch without ever complaining. I thought the 2nd half of the season was really starting to pick things up and the mystery surrounding Kuro's cousin is genuinely very interesting. Yet, I can't really completely forgive the first half of the story for its painfully slow pace. This is very much an extremely dialogue-heavy show, which is completely fine. But I think the show could've used more engaging storyboarding in general, the scenes in which Kotoko is working out her plans and interacting with the people online, whom she's trying to convince to change the rumors of Steel Lady Nanase was done in a visual representation of a debate room in this almost like empty purple space. All of these could have been really cool, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired with plain shots and lackluster background design. It felt stationary and just very bland, making an empty purple void feel constrained when really it should feel vast and endless. I have had similar gripes with the dullness of the director, Gotou Keiji's work before in a series called Endride. That being said, I did enjoy Kotoko's breakdown of the case and her different tactics in trying to best Rikka. It was probably the most entertaining part of the series for me alongside with the interesting takes on spirits/ghosts designs throughout the show. I have higher expectations for Season 2 regarding the story because it seems like they're going to be exploring deeper into Rikka's story and her motive which is shrouded in mystery.

Kaina of the Great Snow Sea : Director: Andou Hiroaki Series Composition: Murai Sadayuki Character Design: Fukushi Ryouhei, Kotani Kyouko Studio: Polygon Pictures
From the creator of Blame! and Knights of Sidonia, comes another CG anime in Kaina of the Great Snow Sea helmed by Blame! and Ajin director Andou Hiroaki. Polygon Pictures alongside Studio Orange are probably regarded as two of the best fully CG anime studios in the industry (with Orange receiving more of the praise) and this anime looks to be no different. The models have a very nice cel-shaded look to them similar to many of their animes, looking almost 2D in some shots. The environment makes good use of being 3D by being extremely large and the camera being able to display it all as it's a 3D environment. Hiroaki has worked with many CG shows in the past, so this will be nothing new for him especially when he's already worked on Tsutomu Nihei's other creations before. He is a very flexible director who while he specializes in 3D, makes very good use of 2D assets which can be seen in the extremely creative and also disappointing 2020 anime, Listeners. I don't have much to say about this due to the lack of knowledge of the story, but the staff is solid and the trailer showcases some impressive and large-scale environments that are nice to look at. I look forward to this one quite a bit.

Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible: Director: Koga Kazuomi Series Composition: Takahashi Yuuya Character Design: Saitou Yoshiko Studio: Pine Jam
Pine Jam is a studio that has been around for quite some time but hasn't been that active throughout. Releasing only 7 shows since it's establishment in 2015, however, its presence has been noted. Many animated shows from them have a very particular look when it comes to how it's animated. They experimented quite a bit with breaking the style for different scenes to establish a different effect. From just messing around in a slice-of-life anime by providing a surreal visual to break the established norm of the series, to breaking models in combat scenes to establish impact and movement, the studio historically has had very interesting ideas. Their final products also come out fairly refined without much for me to nag on. I don't know much about Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible, except for the synopsis provided on MyAnimeList and Anilist, but it seems to be the most well-regarded source material that Koga Kazuomi has had the opportunity of directing. Most people probably know him from the now infamous series, Rent-a-Girlfriend, but looking at that show from a purely directional and storyboarding standpoint, it is a charming piece of work that displays Kazuomi's strength quite well. Just check out the opening of the Season 1 of the show, it utilizes interesting color palettes in the background to provide emphasis on the makeshift panels of the characters dancing in a very cute way. His boards tend to have also quite expressive facial expressions that are cute. This should fit the cute high school vibe that Kubo seems to also have. I look forward to seeing what interesting experimental cuts, the Pine Jam staff plans to sneak into this little show and it should be a fun chill time.
I'll be uploading part 2 sometime this week. It'll be around 5 more anime I'll be watching in Winter 2023.

Fic Writer Review
Thank you for the tag, @flutteringdreams-matw!! I loved reading your review, and I’m stoked to have the opportunity to fill this out myself, too!
1) How many works do you have on AO3?  46. And not all of them have been transferred over from FFN. There’s at least another dozen between multiple fandoms over there, lol.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count? 656,571. My word.
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?  When one of your fandoms is DC Comics...Does that count as one or several? LOL. xD
There’s been Merlin, Danny Phantom, Batman (Comics), Young Justice (cartoon), Teen Titans (cartoon), Titans (TV Show), Smallville (TV show), The Justice League (movie), The Flash (Arrowverse TV Show), Miraculous Ladybug, Harry Potter, Rise of the Guardians, How to Train Your Dragon, Sword Art Online (anime), Blue Exorcist (anime), The Bright Sessions (podcast). Might be missing some.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 1. Come Alive (Young Justice) 2. life, if well lived (Batman) 3. On Three (Miraculous Ladybug) 4. a million dreams (Batman) 5. Genesis (Danny Phantom)
@redriotted should be informed that my top two are fics she requested from me via prompts I’m sure neither of us expected I would ever fill. Love you, dear! I credit you for these fics!
5. Which of your fic do you want more attention for?  Difficult question for me to answer. I’ve been gifted with lovely feedback on most of my work. I guess if I were to choose one it would be Locking Up the Sun (Batman)? It’s a Fantasy AU. A fantastic exercise in world-building. I had so much fun with it that I’ve been playing with the idea of spinning bits of it into an original work.
6. Do you respond to comments, why or why not? YES. I try to respond to every review and comment I receive. I understand it takes a lot of time and energy for some people, but from the moment I posted my first Merlin fic in 2011, I needed to respond, even if with nothing more than a little thank you. And I’m not about to stop the habit. I met some of my dearest friends responding to reviews. I still meet wonderful people doing so. :) 7. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?  Uhhhh, I’m not sure? I guess it depends on perspective. Most of my fics end happily, or rather, I am quite heavy-handed on the comfort part of the Hurt/Comfort trope. I do bittersweet more often than I do angst. I wrote a Merlin AU inspired by The Picture of Dorian Gray about Uther Pendragon that was pretty angsty? Grief was another one, also in the Merlin fandom. I’m sure there were some in my FFN Merlin oneshot collection Rabbits and Bathroom Breaks that apply, but lord knows I hardly remember half of what I’ve posted in that monster.
8. Do you write crossovers? Once. I wrote a Rise of the Guardians/Frozen crossover with an Elsa/Jack Frost pairing as a gift for a friend.  9. Have you ever received hate on a fic? Oh, of course. Who hasn’t? I’ve been cursed out more than once, too. It always stings, but it’s a matter of stepping back and asking myself: is this constructive? will this make me a better writer? Once you frame the comment/review that way, it’s a bit easier to see that it’s unproductive to linger on it for long. It’s someone’s personal preferences and/or beliefs not aligning with your own. Or someone who can’t quite distance themselves from fiction enough to realize you are not always what you write, nor are you a reflection of the characters/plot you’re writing about.
10. Do you write smut? if so what kind? Rarely, and only as crack or as a joke. Nothing I would ever share in public. RIP Uther Pendragon/Troll fic of circa 2013-2014. I do so wish I’d saved you somewhere safe. 11. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, but I have no idea where they are posted or in what language. Most of the requests came over FFN, so I’m sure they’re available somewhere. In some capacity.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Not quite. My friend and I wrote every other line of the aforementioned Uther/Troll fic in a chatroom, if that counts. 13. What’s your all time favorite ship? I’m far more interested in platonic/family relationships in pretty much every fandom I’m in. If I were to choose one? Adam Hayes/Caleb Michaels from The Bright Sessions. Or Barry Allen/Iris West in The Flash.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?  *eyes Shift warily*
I KID. I made a promise over half a decade ago, and I intend on keeping it.  In all seriousness: A Merlin time-travel fic I started ages upon ages ago. I hardly remember what the point of it was. There is a fun scene I’ve considered posting as a oneshot more than once over the years, though, just because it makes me laugh.
15. What are your writing strengths?  Dialogue, I think? I love it.
16. What are your writing weaknesses? Imagery/action. Give me a single scene focused on a conversation between two hopeless individuals that need some TLC and let me forget about where they are sitting or if they are sitting at all or if there are things that need describing around them, please and thank you.  17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?  I’ve done it, in some capacity. I used my knowledge of Latin grammar from old high school classes to try to write spells for Merlin fics. I probably butchered quite a few, lol. I think it’s important to use language as accurately as possible, though, if it were to be used at all. Most of the time I take the lazy man’s route and use dialogue tags and italics, just so I can avoid making ignorant mistakes. As a reader, as long as I have translations in front of me, I’m golden.  18. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Merlin. I owe that fandom everything. 19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? Come Alive. I don’t know that I have ever had so much fun writing anything in my life. a million dreams (my Flying Grayson time travel tear-jerker) and Not a Bit (my MLB Brothers AU, inspired by the original PV) come in close second. I dig my family feels, obviously. 20. What fic are you most proud of?  Shift, my Danny Phantom AU, if only because it’s been seven years since I posted its first chapter. Writing it has felt like pulling teeth at certain points, but it has been with me for a long, long time. Rereading it is like looking at a time lapse of how I’ve developed as a writer, lol.  Heart of Gold (Merlin) is another. Before Shift, it was the longest fic I’d ever written, one, and it was my first time really developing an OC/attempting a redemption arc as well. It was far from a perfect fic, but boy did I feel like a queen when I finished it. I’m sure you might’ve done something like this at some point, @cdelphiki, but here you go! @breynekai-tfc, too! And anyone else who sees and wants to share, please do so!

So you guys remember the post I made yesterday stating the different death outcomes in the Petit Vampire franchise right ?
Well like I said in a much older post, I HC that among other franchises Petit Vampire (rather the continuity of the movie and the recent comics and novels) takes place in the same universe as Haunted Mansion and Phantom Manor
So let me explain why bssing ourselves on what I pointed out yesterday :
In the PV franchise (at least in the movie but it could perfectly fit the other continuities), you become undead after a "broken heart", aka if you had trauma, a bad situation or felt any sort of horrible negative feeling/experince in the moment of death. And even if most ghosts in HM are now happy haunts and we don't truly know their exact circumstances of death, we may have some clues not all were as happy as they are now : it's strongly implied the Ghost Host hung himself, the tightrope girl probably had a stunt accident that had eaten alive by an alligator, Madame Leota had to flee for a long time because people thought she was a witch abd hunted her down so even after she became the Graceys' personal medium and was saved maybe she kept the trauma with her forever, the Hatbox Ghost and his bride died on their wedding day and in Hatbox Ghost's case his death was brutal since he got beheaded, May died looking for her son Victor who had lost himself in the swamps and himself died there after having been lost alone looking for his mom, and in PM the Phantom not only died in a violent Earthquale he was also furious at the time thatvher daughter was engaged, and said daughter died alone, locked up and terrorized by her father forever waiting for her groom who never came to their wedding since murdered. In both franchises, without counting the HM movie which is its own continuity, there is nothing about an unfinished business
You can also be summoned as an undead in the cartoon, and Madame Leota can summon spirits into ghosts in both HM and PM
If you had no "broken heart", you immediatly go to the underworld and become "dead dead" like Michel's parents. And in both HM and PM there are instances of people who died but never became undead, like the caretaker's dog's mate who is dead for good in HM and Martha Ravenswood in PM despite having died she too in the earthquake along her husband (maybe she was sleeping so didn't see it coming or whatever). Mélanie's fiancé doesn't seem to have become undead either, but given the fact he was brutally murdered hung by force by the Phantom and the latter is extremely powerful and has entire control over the Manor, maybe he IS undead but got locked up somewhere only he knows
In PV, you can become one of 3 kinds of undead : ghost, vampire or whatever living corpses are called (living dead ? Zombies ?). In HM and PM, even if the vast majority are ghosts to enhance the concept of haunted houses, there ARE some instances of non-ghost undead people, like that claustrophobic zombie stuck in his coffin begging for someone to help him, or in PM the dog of the Phantom who seems to be not a ghost but a rotting walking dog corpse and skeletons and corpses getting out of their coffins and having fun in the catacombs. And even if in the final products we don't see vampires, we can imagine they do exist since in a HM concept there was supposed to be a character called Mademoiselle Vampire (if she were a vampire or a ghost never was precised) and among her guests they were Dracula himself
When you become a ghost, you can have any appearance going from something very close to what you were to something very different in both franchises. In PV, the Captain looks like a skeleton with glimmering red pupils, Fantomate like a normal dog but red, most of the Captain's crew look like skeletons except one who has a big eyeball for head, Douglas looks normal but with blue skin and he is transparent, Christian Rosenkrutz looks like the way he did but with violet skin etc. Same thing in HM and PV where ghost designs vary greatly : the Ghost Host is blue skinned with yellow sclerotics and white hair and is hanging noose around his neck, Constance Hatchaway looks blue and and transparent so do Gus and Phineas, so does Ezra but he also looks corpse-like, the Faceless bride looks like a shadow with hair with glowing eyes and a beating red heart, the Corpse Bride like a blue skeleton with hair with golden irises and a beating red heart, the other beating heart brides like normal women but with blueish skin and a beating red heart, Purple Shroud looks like a purple shadow, the Hatbox Ghost looks like a corpse, May looks like a creepy woman whose eyes and haie are made of black goo that alwsys run down, Madame Leota is a very pale head with dark blue hair in a crystal ball, Mélanie looks exactly like she used to one could think she is still alive, and even better the Phantom looks like the Captain, a skeleton with glimmering red pupils. In both franchises looks don't seem to be based on anything, it is like a lottery, if you are lucky you will look like you used to or something close and if you are not you will look like a corpse, an eldritch horror or a shadow. Just out of pure fate
Monsters exist in both franchises. In PV you have the 3 monsters of the haunted house, Marguerite the creature of Frankenstein, Claude the anthro crocodile and Ophtalmo the radioactive mutant, as well as a lot of others we see throughout the franchise like sirens, a kraken etc. In HM, you have the portrait of a gorgon, the portrait of an anthro feline lady and banshees who are doing bike in the graveyard. And in the concepts, back on Mademoiselle Vampire, she was supposed to marry Monsieur Bogeyman who or may not have been a boogeyman, and among the guests was THE monster of Frankenstein
In both franchises there are living portraits that contain their own worlds and can be visitted, supposing that the ones in HM in the changing portrait gallery count that way because it is obviously not the case in PM or in HM's stretching room where they are normal portrait that change because of paranormal powers
Among the HM portraits that may be their own world and/or entered in like in PV, there is a portrait of the Flying Dutchman's ship. And in PV it does exist, even if it looks different (bah, Sfar's style is inconsistant anyway), and has no Bois Dormante but maybe it was painted before she came to the Captain's (the Flying Dutchman himself) ship
There can be living objects, even if in PV Bois Dormante is herself made as a living object without being a ghost where in PM and HM the living objects we know (the Singing Busts and Little Leota) are inhabited by ghosts who use them like bodies, but eh maybe there are different ways
Animals can become undead, like we see Fantomate and the Captain's bird in PV and the invisible horse ghost in HM and the Phantom's dog in PM (and in a HM concept there was supposed to be a skeleton horse ghost that wss often reused in orher adaptations like the HM movie). However we don't know if they gain speech and human comprehension in death too unlike PV where they can
In PV, the undead has a hard time with dealing with years going by since they no longer have the emergency of having to do things begore dying since now THEY are dead, so they can be very distracted even if there are postmortem emergencies and thus seem like airheads like the Captain. Nothing concrete indicates that in HM and PM, however like in PV they often are stuck in a discrete loop that has them do everyday again and again one thing they did before dying, like the Captain's crewmate who is doomed to forever give him everynight in the cartoon the black spot to announce his muttiny that would kill all of them : Mélanie often wanders and waits for her fiancé and prepares herself singing, the ghost girl blows her birthday candles everyday etc. So we can suppose the same for the lack of time discernement. Maybe the same for ghosts forgetting they are alone and assuming their crew is with them like the Captain who is alone yet gives orders at the moment which has Michel think he is crazy
It is common to find haunted houses that are inhabited by a lot of undead and monsters even if they do not originate from it because they needed a place to find sheleter. A lot of monsters and undead who were not in the Captain's crew accumulated and settled down in their haunted house, and in HM ghosts from everywhere came adding themselves to the ones whose mansion belonged to (the Graceys and friends) making it the place of the 999 happy haunts ; PM is a different story since the Phantom with his powers simultaneously cursed all the town's people who died in the earthquake to be forever stuck under the house making them prisonners like his daughter and invited evil spirits to settle down and help him terrorize the others
Now with all of that, I think I will opt for the Petit Vampire movie continuity instead of the cartoon or original comics continuity : it establishes the broken heart thing and it fits, it introduces the concept of Reapers and God of Death and Oblivion which could be interesting in HM and PM too, and I like how in the movie the haunted house to protect itself from the Gibbous has magical protections that makes the undead and monsters invisible if you are not invited, it could be maybe what the Phantom uses for his manor so that nobody would come to help his prisonners since they wouldn't notice them, plus in the cartoon vampires are undead but also implied to be their own species that can reproduce whereas I think an entirely morbid context would fit more ; aaaand since in the movie ghosts don't necessarily live through loops or think they are not alone, they just lack time discernment, it could be easier to play with

My Mind About PV
It is a long time since I was writing something (sorry)
So when I was seeing the Weibo Love and producer, I see there is a new update of kiss day karma. I'm not quite sure about "Kiss Day" because Kiss day is July 6 but the theme is "Lipsticks." I found a lot of interesting things in PV >.< so I will try to get the meaning of it. There will be 2 or maybe 3 parts of this blog because there will be too long if I put all of them here. And now is the first part (Victor and Lucien)
Warn:
❥ Spoiler Chinese server ❥ I am sorry if someone already writes about these things! ❥ I am sorry if I was making some mistake in my grammar or my writings! ❥ Everything that I write here is coming from my mind! ❥ Give credit if you want to reupload it somewhere ❥ If you to lazy to read all of them I write all conclusions at Note ❥ The website that I use as a reference at the end of the blog! ☆♬○♩●♪✧♩ ✧♪●♩○♬☆♬○♩●♪✧♩✧♪●♩○♬☆♬○♩●♪✧♩✧♪●♬♩○♬☆
⚘Victor
Tumblr media
He is the first character who appears at the PV, I assumed that Victor is the most "senior" at the "romantic" thing. With the word "Stuck on me" on his side that means "we" are very attracted to him or he is very attracted to the main character of course.
Tumblr media
At 0:38 there's a real half-water red rose, with "time" and "Forelsket"
Let's talk to the easy topic first-word "time" we can connect to Victor Evol and about everlasting love between Victor and MC. A real half-water red rose, as we knew Victor always connects to a red rose, the red rose symbolizes "true love" About the half water maybe just maybe that means a process about true love because the water slowly drowning the rose. And the last thing at that time was the word "Forelsket" which means "in Love" from the Danish language. Overall this scene means just "Process to Deep in love with each other"
Tumblr media
At 0:41, Victor with two red roses, a lock, and a kiss mark *cough
Victor's place is in some kind of plant thing. That means their love always grows like a plant. We know a rose symbolizes "true love" and now two roses that mean "true love between two people" And a lock symbolically locking their love forever. A neck kiss mark means that we are deep in love with him and just can't get enough of him. And a sentence that is quite hard to read "the part of existence that is measured in minutes, days, years, etc., or this process considered as a whole" That's just the meaning of time. The meaning of this scene "We need time to let the love grow and keep them forever"
Tumblr media
At 1:03 they shoot a blue rose and they shoot Victor and MC (They are so cute >.<)
Blue Rose: blue rose can bring hope for an unlikely or unrequited falling in love. That way, it can also signal someone waiting for a miracle. The blue rose also signifies a fresh start.
This scene is just like the climax of the story to me, at first attracted to each other, second about the rose slowly drowning, locking their love to each other, then waits for a miracle to have a fresh relationship
𐐒𐐚Lucien
Tumblr media
Lucien's introduction of a real umbrella and rain with words "Cold" and "Lucidity" (The alphabet in the picture seems to be "P" but I see everywhere "Lupidity" has no meaning) Rain: We see a lot of Lucien's karma with rain and sadly that's not a good sign. Rain can symbolize many things. It can represent unhappiness, rebirth, foreboding, determination, the breaking of a drought The umbrella usually symbolizes the canopy of the heavens, shelter, and protection, and an umbrella is a symbol of shade. It is often an emblem of power and dignity. Lucidity: Lucidity comes from the Latin "lucidus" meaning "light, bright, clear." I can't really take a good conclusion from this scene. I just think about how the "umbrella" clearly can block all of the sadness from him.
Tumblr media
At 0:18 Lucien is in public holding a lipstick, raining, clear umbrella with a "Love" word on the top of it, other people are walking opposite him and He is wearing a brown coat. AND HE IS SO CUTE UGHHHH
Raining: unhappiness, rebirth, foreboding, determination, et Walking opposite: Maybe he will trying to be different from others and pick you. Brown coat: A sense of strength and reliability. Brown is often seen as solid, much like the earth, and it's a color often associated with resilience, dependability, security, and safety. Feelings of loneliness, sadness, and isolation. And now is making more clear that Love is the one who protected him from sadness, but he is wearing a brown coat, which means he still has feelings of loneliness inside him even though the "umbrella" save him (If you guys asking me why I use the "Feelings of loneliness, sadness" one other than " security, and safety" you guys will find out later)
Tumblr media
At 0:20 Lucien's figures with his "iconic" pose and word "Stay on my ring"
This was just my opinion that the "stay on my ring" word has meant that he wants us to be on his side forever to keep him from the "rain"
Tumblr media
At 0:48 MC is laying at the top of his body wearing Belle yellow dress, Lucien takes off his brown coat and unbuttons 2 or maybe 3 buttons of his shirt *chough* They sleep on the couch seems like warming each other, sunlight from the windows, Carmelia (?) flower in the back (I'm sorry I'm not sure that was a Carmelia flower), a lot of thing with white-purple-ish color.
The yellow color represents Happiness, warmth, sunshine, and positivity. Belle dress, maybe we know the beauty and the beast, belle always stay by the beast side and warming the cold lonely castle. Lucien take off his brown coat that means his sadness is gone Sunlight from the window, it seems like the rain has stopped, and bring a light for them The camellia flower symbolizes love and affection. White blooms stand for adoration and are given to someone who is meaningful White color represents happiness and purity
Meaning from this scene is MC will always remain by his side and she will erase his sadness and make him happy. Their pure everlasting love and affection will carry them to a positive future.
Note:
Finally, I write things on my mind and share them with you I love how Love And Producer give a little bit of story at the PV for each character, when I was writing this my mind be like "oh wait that makes sense"
Victor story is about how they love growth
Lucien story about how his life process to be happier with mc
Anyway, thank you for sacrificing your precious 5 minutes of your time reading this blog. Let me be honest. I'm really happy to share my mind with you! I'm sorry if I make some mistake

BLUE LOCK TEASER HELL YES
AHHDJSNA (I am so sorry I didn’t get to your other asks, I’m awful at time management 😭) At least there’s an actual final official announcement lol. I was waiting to be let down, the same as you expected in your previous ask :/
I’m really hyped for the anime! The fandom will undoubtedly grow, which is fantastic because the manga is phenomenal and so is the mangaka, and I’m eagerly anticipating a crazy new volume of fanmade content, but I’m also feeling sort of… sad? We had a cute little space to ourselves, the relatively few people who knew about the manga and those who actively read it. We’ll get swamped lmao. But totally worth it.
And the animation from the teaser was… really interesting! I kinda don’t know what to expect. I LOVED that they did justice to Nomura-sensei’s art style (the heavy detail, the iconic whirling of Isagi’s eyes). I’m just hoping it lives up to how breathtakingly intricate and airy the manga graphics are. Also, thankfully, because Japanese VA’s are top-notch, the characters’ voices suit them PERFECTLY. Exactly as I envisioned them. I was worried about Bachira’s the most, but they hit the nail on the head with him. That boi is mischievous and adorable but at the same time, steely focused and slightly manic. I’m sure his VA will make that come across well. Chigiri’s, Isagi’s, and Kunigami’s were perfect too!
Ahhhh what else. OH YEAH, ugh, I was so excited to hear Barou’s voice. I believe there was a PV earlier in the year or maybe last year (who knows at this point, I’ve lost all track of time) that featured it? Idk. But then again, it’s just a teaser, and Barou did not appear until Chapter 27. It’s too early for the animation studio to disclose all its cards yet.
But hell yeah. I am EXCITED excited. This story deserves so much more love and attention. Low-key wished it had come out earlier so that any theme songs could’ve been played during the Tokyo Olympics :’)

I’ve translated the Japanese text with Google Translate and from my understanding, this is the FIRST Character PV and you all know what that means: MORE OF THEM ARE COMING.
