I still remember the day when I accidentally saw the spoiler and people were like "oh, but it was without a context, we have to wait for it!" and it made me truly curious and excited to see what the whole scene was about
And let me tell you it turns out I was perfectly happy not knowing what it was about
(But you know, curiosity killed the cat. And I loved this scene, it was positively heartbreaking, angst in its truest form. Exactly opossite to what I expected to happen knowing this season was supposed to be quiet and gentle and romantic, really.)
Men, it's fucking normal to have stretch marks and even cellulite. It's normal to not have a flat stomach, to have body acne (especially because of hormones/puberty), to have unbalanced hair distribution along all parts of your body. It's normal to have deep hair lines, to have thin hair, for hair to regrow odd.
Very, very few of us will live in this world unscathed. You owe nobody the conformity of man. So many problems that are seen as "womens-only" occur in men, too, because it is a part of the human condition to have weird bodies.
Patalliro! is fascinating to me because of stuff like this. It's unapologetically gay - even within its anime which aired during primetime hours in 1982 - in a way that many later BL manga would never be, like the ones from the early 2000s which would never dare to call their characters actual homosexuals. Patalliro has actually aged quite well in this regard, there's something comforting about how campy it is.
It's really freeing when you learn that rationality isn't going to be feasible in the long run, not because rationality is this thing that only Truly Enlightened people get the privilege to experience, but because humans are just irrational.
You can know when you're being irrational, and sometimes, it is in big ways. But pretending like that irrationality doesn't exist or can only exist if you're "stupid" only sets you back from growing. Irrationality is part of the human condition - it is impossible to actually be this enlightened person people like to project themselves onto.
[ID: A vertical portrait of a fat version of Mitsuri lying on pink and cream clouds with her eyes closed and a smile on her face. A string of light pink roses cover her breasts, but otherwise she is completely nude. She has stretch marks on her breasts, arms, and belly. A cream cloud above her head which is framed by metallic roses holds the title of the zine, "To Love Yourself." The subtitle which is held in a smaller cream cloud under the title reads "A Body Positive Mitsuri Fanbook." End ID.]
