Currently, A large number of emergency crews and other agencies are responding to a massive explosion at a shell oil refinery plant in Deer Park, Texas with reports of multiple people having been injured. israel has launched an invasion and heavy bombing of rafah(a.k.a the "safe zone" 1.7 million Palestinians were forced into) after the UN approved a ceasefire resolution for the rest of ramadan... all 2 weeks of it. results were 14 votes for YESes. 0 NOs. and 1 didn't vote(take a guess who it was) the resolution called for an unconditional release of all hostages on both sides. so yes, mr "i am totally just doing this to get my hostages back whom i totally care about and totally didn't kill" Israel is launching harder attacks even after being promised all hostages release. just in case anyone was still questioning if Israel was using hostages as just an excuse for colonialism

russia tried to turn it into a permanent ceasefire but the US vetoed it. i guess vetoing a ceasefire looks less bad when russia is the one proposing it

Students at Goldsmiths University of London have restarted their protests in the face of footage that surfaced from Rafah and in response to Frances Corner showing little sign of taking student demands seriously and even less intent to hold up to her divestment agreements, which were made at the beginning of May 2024.

Protests at the uni have been covered by Al Jazeera and The Socialist Worker. Updates can be found on their Instagram @goldsmithsforpalestine. A vote of no confidence has been kick-started by the Student Union and will commence on June 7th 2024.

In meetings leading up to this vote, there has been a stark lack of support of any kind or any intent to vote against the no-confidence proposal. Students unanimously stand against the Warden.

UPDATE: Fire chief confirms at least 9 victims following mass shooting at Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Texas; gunman shot dead by police.

Police were already at the outlet mall responding to a separate call before hearing rapid gunfire. Police worked quickly to ‘neutralize’ the gunman, likely saving countless lives.

The Allen Fire Department transported nine victims, but added that others might have been transported by other agencies or driven to a hospital by friends or family.

The victims' conditions have not yet been released.

A spokesperson for Medical City Healthcare said eight victims ranging from 5 to 61 years old are being treated at their facilities.

Witnesses said the shooter at the Allen outlet mall Saturday afternoon was dressed in all black and was carrying an assault rifle.
