A Valentines exchange gift for @adelacreations ! It has a little snippet of story to go with it. @hellfirevalex
------
"I..I don't understand...What do you mean you're-"
"Dead? Un-living? Cursed to walk these lands on this earth at night until raptures comes?"
A rumble had escaped from Steven's chest like the thousand hooves of wild buffalo running in the summer nights of the Californian grassy planes, a laugh so deep that I could feel it in my bones as it shook the wooden planks of the floor were we stood.
"Are you scared of me now?"
"...I could never be afraid of you Steven."
"You are though...afraid of me, even just a little. It's alright though, I'm not upset."
I was scared that night, I will admit. Terrified of what the man I had come to know as a friend...a lover really was. The biggest secret he had been keeping from me finally revealed. I had been terrified before of course, laying with another man while the Mother Mary and her child rested on my breast bone, God's judgement weighing heavy on my soul while my breath was light in my throat.
"Will you kill me now?"
"Kill you? No...never...Exactly the opposite my dear William...my Billy."
I'd never been afforded the opportunities and grandiosity that my Steven had been able to shower me with while he courted me, lavish outings and fine clothes draped over my shoulders all paid for by his aloof parents dime. Of course, after he turned me that night, draining me within an inch of my life before supplying me with his own, I found out his parents had been dead for at least a hundred years now.
"S...Steven?...I feel...fa...faint."
"Shh...save your voice my dear."
I'd fallen in love with the man regardless of the gifts and the money, regardless of the lies he had told me to lure me into his web of blood and honeyed words. There was no doubt in my mind at the time that I would have made any other choice than what I did, falling into his arms like a southern bell in the thick summer heat and I was happy for it.
"I'm...I'm scared."
"I know my love...it will be over soon, I swear it."
We had our rough times of course, as all relationships do. Most would call it a human condition but it is not, love and companionship accompanied by hard times and disagreements long settled in by old hurts and misunderstanding Is merely how the world works.
"S...st..."
"Shhh...Once you wake, I will be there to greet you. And then?....Then we can truly begin to live."
However we always made up after a time, slowly gravitating back towards each other over a few years of brooding or ill tempers. It was in our nature after all, something we couldn't fight against lest we fell deeper into the pit of mania. It was easier to embrace it, to throw the punches when tensions got high...yet we always regretted it.
I loved him once. I love him now and I'm most positive I'll be able to love him again in due time.

Rome, day 4, part 3
After spending the hottest hours of the day relaxing in our room (although, due to the aforementioned caffeinated gelato, I was less "relaxing" and more "feeling like I was dying"), we headed out to the biggest tourist attraction we hadn't yet seen: Trevi Fountain.
Tumblr media
Trevi Fountain was, I think, the most crowded attraction we've seen yet, which I guess makes sense, because it's free and centrally located. People were packed in there like it was a Billy Joel concert at Jones Beach.
Tumblr media
Then we walked up the Via del Corso, which is like the Magnificent Mile of Rome. (A comparison only useful for people familiar with Chicago, I realize.) We stopped into the Lego store, where Jilli took what is my new favorite photo of myself.
Tumblr media
Then we hiked up the hill to the terrace at Villa Borghese, which supplied a good view of the city.
Tumblr media
From there we headed back downhill to Il Gabriello, for our fancy Roman dinner. The Rick Steves-approved restaurant is located down a steep flight of worn-smooth stone steps that I'm sure at least one person a week takes a header down. (Thankfully, neither of us was that person.) The ambience is fun — a campy combination of high and low culture — though they sat us at what was surely the worst table in the place, nestled in a corner next to the "bar" (actually just a counter covered in liquor bottles). Jilli was sitting in front of a shelf of bottles of red wine, and had to duck out of the way so a server could grab a bottle. Meanwhile, I had a bartender standing directly behind me, slicing limes and shaking cocktails.
Tumblr media
This isn't a complaint, mind you. We're not assholes, so we found it funny. And the food was excellent. We started with the buffalo ricotta with honey and pepper jam, and a plate of green beans (not pictured because it was literally just a plate of green beans).
Tumblr media
For our main courses, I had the spaghetti alle vongole (spaghetti with clams), and Jilli had some sort of lemon sage spinach ravioli. (I don't like savory lemon and she doesn't like seafood, so this was a non-sharing course.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We managed to save room for dessert, which was a thankfully sparse assortment of white chocolate mousse, chocolate crumbles, and berries.
Tumblr media
Then we walked back to our hotel in the 85-degree dusk, ready to go to bed and begin our final day in Rome!

                                                                         SEPTEMBER 2022
THE  RIB  PAGE
Season 11 of American Horror Story is almost here!! Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are also working on the new American Sports Story and American Love Story! This season is still secret, of course, but it seems that it will include Billie Lourd, Isaac Powell, Patti Lupone, Zachary Quinto and Sandra Bernhard!!!!! Some have said that it will be set in the 70’s and or 80’s.
*****
Micky Dolenz has sued the FBI to find out more about a Monkees FBI file. His lawyer stated,“the lawsuit seeks to expose why the FBI was monitoring the Monkees and its individual members. The 7 page file was released in 2011 but was heavily redacted. It includes an FBI source who went to a 1967 concert with “subliminal messages” on screen, “which constituted left wing innovations of a political nature. Dolenz states that he has “exhausted all necessary required administrative remedies.”
*****
Kansas voted to protect abortion rights.

Days alert: WE HATE U NBC!!!!! Taking off Days, a program that has been loyal and steady since 1964!!?? Peacock? What a great way to ease it out. They have been looking for a way to get rid of it for some time. I guess they finally figured out a way just so they could add more news. Nobody is a bigger news junkie than me but there are plenty of more reliable news outlets than NBC. Gimme a break! But, I digress. So glad to see Xander and Sarah working together to get to the truth. What the fuck is wrong with Stephanie? Does she not know about the evil in some of Salem’s residents?? I know she was a bit of a rebel back in her driving days but she wasn’t stupid! **Please, bring Tate and his Mother back to town!** It is cute the way we are seeing Gabi and Stefon’s love story thru Rolf. ** Hooray for Roman and Kate! Now if the ladies can just save themselves and put Orpheus in his place, things will be just fine.
*****
I can’t believe Better Call Saul is over. Salute to one of the best shows ever to hit our screens. What a great way to use the Nesmith demo there towards the end. There was not a bad performance in the bunch but let’s really not forget Michaell Mckean and his astounding work!!!!!
*****
Hillary Clinton was there for opening night of the79th Venice Film Fest.
*****
Batgirl was nearly finished and WB/ Discovery shut down post production.  Was it because of taxes?
*****
Kelli Giddish is leaving Law and Order SVU. It was not her choice.
*****
Polio?? Really??
*****
What?? Arizona sold their back-up water supply to the Saudi’s?? I could not believe that this was true until I found out it was. The Arizona State land dept. sold thousands of acres to a Saudi Corp., Fondomonte. They have leased the right to pump as much water as they want and sell it back to Arizonians. What??
*****
Bill Paxton had a stroke in 2017, following an aortic aneurysm during a valve replacement. His family settled a wrongful death lawsuit with Cedars- Sinai Medical Center.
*****
The latest sexual misconduct news: Gary Busey was arrested on 2 counts of criminal sexual contact,  1count criminal attempt/ criminal sexual contact in the 4th degree, 1 count harassment, disorderly persons offense. ** Arcade Fire’s Win Butler has been accused by 4 people of sexual misconduct. ** In 2016, it was learned that Charlie Sheen had exposed about 25 women to HIV without divulging that info. He just settled one of those cases for $120,000.** Former Buffalo Bill, Matt Araiza has been accused of rape.
*****
Young Thug and Gunna Face were arrested under the RICO (racketeer influenced and corrupt organization) Act with evidence dating back to 2013.
*****
Plesiosaurus fossils have been found in the Sahara Desert. Plesiosaurs in fresh water???? This does help the Lochness believers.
*****
Jon Batiste is leaving The Late Show.
*****
Kathy Griffin asked for help from the internet crowd. It seems that medical personnel sent her a copy of her latest cancer scan with no explanation. Luckily some image readers out there helped her out since she could not get a return call from her physician. It is not just the civilians out there that are getting shoddy service, it is everywhere.
*****
The Georgia case has heated up. First Sen Graham claimed he couldn’t testify, then he was told to take a bus, an Uber, whatever and testify. Soon a delay was granted so they can decide about testimony that involves the full role of a Senator.
*****
Biden has delivered the largest economic recovery plan since Roosevelt, the largest infrastructure plan since Eisenhower, the most judges confirmed since Kennedy, the second largest health care bill since Johnson and the largest climate change bill in history. -Klain

The 87,000 new IRS agents will be phased in over 10 years. 50,000 are set to retire. This will bring the number of employed to 2013 levels.
*****
Florida GOP candidate, Martin Hyde threatened a Police officer’s job when he was pulled over for speeding and texting. It seems that every day we see another example of politicians thinking that the laws do not apply to them. I thought they supported law and order.
*****
Joe Pesci, Edie Falco and Pete Davidson will star in TV’s Bupkis which will be executive produced by Lorne Michaels.
*****
Gotta check out Leslie Jones, Ken Jong and Jason Alexander in Out of Office.

The FBI went into Mar A Lago because Scary Clown 45 did not return all the boxes of info that he said he did. I mean, he was the one who signed some of this into law!  His lawyers lied to the DOJ and sort of forced the hand of the DOJ. 18 months ago, the National Archives asked the DOJ to look into the missing boxes. The Trump crazies have run to his aid. Not only do we have to worry about what they may be doing to our voting rights and elections, now we have this. The threats to law enforcement, the FBI and the military by the Trump gang is atrocious. How can bullies be so upset about Hillary’s emails which is just a step over the line, when Trump has run way past the line? More than 300 documents have been recovered since January. I am sure that Scary Clown loves the optics of this. Is that why he kept them, just so they would HAVE to come and take them. He knows that details are not made public in ongoing investigations but we have gotten to see a little of the affidavit. And let’s not forget the Chinese operatives that were once found at Mar A Lago. All of that top secret info was vulnerable. If nothing else, we are looking at obstruction. There are strict protocols with classified info. There was a system in place for the most sensitive materials which the Trump administration does not seem to have followed. How do we know that other countries have not already seen this material? In cases of espionage, it takes years for spies to infiltrate and gather info.
*****
George W. Bush changed the rules with the Presidential records act that used to let us see things in 12 years but now it is 20.
*****
Scary Clown’s current legal team includes a Florida insurance lawyer who’s never had a federal case, a past General counsel for a parking garage company and a former host with far right One America News. - Washington Post
*****
Judith Giuliani has sued Rudy for $262,000 in divorce settlement money she says he owes. She also claims she has “bailed him out” with about $70,000. In 2020, he was sued by Miller Gafney art advisory for $15,000. Dominion Voting has sued for $1.3 billion. The District of Columbia and NY have suspended his law license.
*****
Paul Rudd will join season 3 of Only Murders in the building.
*****
Does the T Rex have small arms so they can hold onto their mates during sex?? Some scientists are telling us that.
*****
Edie McClurg’s family have said that she suffers from dementia and is being victimized by a friend.
*****
Former Detroit Lions Rob Sims and Calvin Johnson have formed Primitiv in Michigan. The Cannabis co. Was inspired by all the injuries they and their teammates suffered on the field.
*****
Is this true? Aaron Rodgers claims he took ayahuasca, a psychedelic and it worked wonders for him. It is apparently not on the NFL’s list of off limit drugs. He has made comments that he is a magic mushroom fan as well.
*****
Keenan Thompson will host the Emmy’s.
*****
Johnny Depp will direct Al Pacino in Modigliani.
*****
I always wanted David Alan Grier to host one of the late- night shows. Thanks to Kimmel, we saw that he is a fabulous host!! He is a natural! More Please!!  Late Late show??** It was great to see Al Franken as host as well. People talk of him running for Senate again. As much as I would personally like that, I think he has more influence as host or talking head because he can be less inhibited and have a bigger impact. That said, I stick with my dream ticket from a few years back of he and Stacey Abrams as a Presidential ticket. Don’t care who is on top.
*****
Dollface was cancelled.
*****
Salmon Rushdie was stabbed on stage as he was beginning a speech about the U.S. being a safe haven for exiled writers.
*****
The word is that Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb do not really get along. Some were concerned that when Savannah was late for work, it was to make a point! Some insiders say that the fans love Kotb and the NBC execs love Guthrie.

Why do Piers Morgan and Chris Christie remind me so much of each other? Are they related?

No One Loves Like Gaston Ch 6- Gaston/Beast fanfic
Rated: K+ (The plus is due to canon-compliant beer and violence. Other than that, I made it as family-friendly as I could.)
Fandom: Beauty and the Beast
Pairing Type: M/M
Pairings: Gaston/The Beast, Lumiere/Cogsworth
Potential content warnings: References to beer and light references to homophobia.
Description: Ah yes, a man falling for a male furry creature, a tale as old as time. Wait, what? In an alternate timeline, Gaston spots Maurice's horse before Belle does and decides to save Maurice to earn Belle's affection. He is so excited to do this that he forgets to bring weapons and, unable to win a fight against the Beast, he takes Maurice's place as the castle's prisoner.
The last thing he expected was for the Beast to have a kind and gentle side. After all, how could someone ever learn to love a beast, especially a man as intent on shielding his genuine emotions as Gaston?
Lumiere and Cogsworth bicker over the possibility of a relationship between Gaston and the Beast, becoming closer in the process. However, Lumiere keeps flirting with the feather duster, and Cogsworth is adamant that no relationship between two men could work.
Tumblr media
Chapter 6: You can ask any Lefou or Billy
The toasty glow of the lamps made the beer look even more golden. Clinks of metal steins mingled with laughter and chatter. Now that Gaston had remained unseen since that afternoon, one of the blonde dames who usually followed him was now sitting next to Lefou. Usually, this would make Lefou smile. In fact, the atmosphere of the bar would usually make him smile.
This time the bar had a decidedly muscular silhouette cut out of it.
Lefou slammed his stein on the wooden table. The girl immediately receded, raising her arms to the level of her chest with her fingers curled in fear. After a second, she inched forward to prevent herself from falling off her stool, causing it to sway.
‘What’s wrong, Lefou?’ she asked.
If only Lefou knew.
Ever since he had led Gaston to the perfect hunting spot a year ago, he had long asked himself what was wrong with him. Gaston had rewarded him with a pat on the head and a glowing smile that silently said thank you. Lefou was always drawn to the man’s confidence and self-focus. Yet there was something special about him doing something out of his usual character in a way that still fit him perfectly, something magical about his love of life painted on his face.
The night following the end of that hunt, Lefou had considered drinking his sudden, inexplicable emotions away. What, was he destined to like men now? Was that his new calling? He had shifted his gaze to the women sitting next to Gaston and was entranced by their beauty. His eyes went back and forth between Gaston and his fangirls, confusion welling in his heart.
He had opted to drink nothing out of fear of revealing his new secret. Naturally, Gaston hadn’t noticed.
Now it was Lefou’s turn to ignore someone, the girl beside him whose beauty had faded not in appearance but in Lefou’s eye. Just as he lifted his stein to his lips, Maurice pushed through the doors.
‘Gaston’s been captured!’
Lefou’s ears perked up at that. Of all people, Gaston?
‘Who did it?’ a man asked. Billy was a tall (not as tall as Gaston, of course) and scraggly man with an equally scraggly beard. He had two steins of beer on his table.
Maurice, already panting from running, sped up his breathing. ‘A fearsome beast! He has the horns of a buffalo, the claws of a bear and the jaws of a wolf! He let me go in exchange for Gaston.’
A feeling of intense hatred sparked within Lefou’s soul for a tiny moment. Maurice let Gaston be captured? Lefou’s precious Gaston? He took a sip and calmed his nerves.
‘Ha, as if Gaston couldn’t have taken him on!’ Billy retorted, pulling up his pants to reveal a bite mark on his ankle.
‘Yeah!’ shouted multiple people in an out-of-sync chorus.
Maurice’s entire body trembled. ‘No, he was a terrifying, dangerous beast! No one could-’
‘Let me guess, crazy old Maurice!’ Lefou responded, putting on his best Gaston impression. He slammed his stein again and crawled onto the top of the table. ‘He could fly and shoot fire from his mouth!’ He leapt off the table like he was about to fly himself. Befitting his name, his decision to do this resulted in his bulbous nose crashing into the floor. He rubbed it, stood up and brushed off the dust on his clothes like it was nothing.
He was about to continue mocking Maurice when a memory whizzed through his brain. Gaston was riding on Maurice’s horse with no weapons at hand. After that, Lefou had taken all the weapons Gaston had left behind to his own house, glad to have pieces of the other man in his possession.
Once the memory disappeared, Lefou shook his head. Couldn’t Gaston have used his fists? Still, the memory bugged him.
Everyone laughed Maurice out of the bar and Lefou returned to his seat. He looked down at the beer still left in his stein, spotting his reflection. His chin was much weaker than Gaston’s. He angled his head towards his arm and saw how flabby and frail it was.
If Gaston really was captured, Lefou would be able to do nothing. He grit his teeth, hopped off his chair and stormed out of the bar. He headed into the forest, stopping by a boulder around his size. He reached around it and put all his effort into picking it up. It didn’t budge an inch.
Lefou slipped out of his jacket, rolled up his sleeves and picked up two less heavy but still weighty rocks the size of his palms. As he flexed his arms, their pain did little to dissuade the corners of his mouth from lifting to his cheeks.

dearest-solitude recs, part four
Anon asked:
If I enjoy Violaf fics, which other fics(and original works) could be to my taste?
Finally, original works! Thanks again for this ask, I had so much fun compiling all these.
General CW for all sorts of problematic content.
Books:
Lolita by Vladimir Nabakov - This one is sort of obvious. Daniel Handler loves Nabakov (and called Lolita sexy!) so I definitely recommend checking it out if you haven’t. I myself wouldn’t particularly consider Lolita to be a “sexy” story, but it is an excellent book, and basically a must read if you love exploring power imbalance due to age gaps.
My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russel - I finished this one recently, and really enjoyed it. It got a lot of hype when it came out, deservedly so. The story explores two timelines: a budding student/teacher relationship, and the aftermath twenty years later.
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold - This book doesn’t have anything remotely shippy in, but the the catalyst and first chapter of the story is the rape and murder of a fourteen year old girl by her middle-aged neighbor. I did not enjoy this book nearly as much as the above two, but it explores grief and tauma in an interesting way.
Abarat by Clive Barker - I think this series is YA but possibly it is middle grade. It is a series about a girl who gets called to a magical world and has to help save it. The plot isn’t super original, but it is a fun series to read, and the main villain of the first two books (a evil man named Christopher Carrion) tries multiples to kidnap and then to marry the teenage lead, Candy Quackenbush. My memory of it is a bit foggy since I read these sophomore year of high school, so no promises with this one.
The Lost Episodes of Revie Bryson by Bryan Furuness - I read this book on the recommendation of @s-softersoftest a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it! Again, nothing too shippy, but there is a storyline about a middle school boy who’s substitute teacher begins a relationship with him. Overall, I think Furuness did an awesome job of balancing some really serious topics while also staying realistically in the voice of a middle schooler.
//
Movies:
Buffalo 66 (1998) - I love this movie and I love Billy Brown and Layla. A summary would be “Freshly released from prison, man kidnaps local girl and forces her to be his pretend wife when meeting his parents.” I don’t know how old the characters are, but the lead actors (Christina Ricci and Vincent Gallo) were seventeen and thirty-seven when the movie was filmed. I believe it is online to watch for free if you are interested.
The Lover (1992) - A french 15 year old begins a steamy affair with a 32 year old chinese playboy in 1920’s french colonial Indochina (Vietnam). This movie has hot sex scenes, and a lot of them. It also made me cry.
//
Comics and Art:
@kmclaude’s work - Lots of power imbalances and advantage taking and truly lovely art. It’s real good stuff. I’m not sure how to summarize it all here, so aside from checking out the art on their blog, you can read up on their character’s here.
BeLoved by Jaelui - Comic follows 32 year old, Dr. Wei, after she realizes she hooked up with a (legal) 16 year old girl who she brought home from a club. This story is just like Violaf in the age gap aspect, everything that goes on in the story is legal, consensual, and it’s just a super cute love story. I’ve read it like six times.
The Double Agent -This is a newish webtoon, about a woman who is forced to be a spy, and who is immedeatly caught and subsequently psychologicaly tortured by the opposing side. Sexual tension is very high, and Sasha Laurent and Major General Johann von Willendorf quickly become obsessed with each other. This is possibly the darkest romance story I’ve seen on Webtoon.

I guess it’s a preview type of day. Almost done! Let me know what you all think of Biker Frank Castle. Even though he technically isn’t on this preview. 😬😬😬
———
Another day, another soul.
You were used to death.
But seeing it almost hour after hour, others waiting out in the hall for an impending doom, it definitely did not bode well for your psyche. It wasn’t as horrid as the beginning of the year, but were there any measurements to the severity of this particular situation?
You turned your phone on and saw you had multiple messages from Billy, one in particular was a bit creepy since it was a picture of you tending to a patient, violated so many HiPAA laws, but Billy was a the fucking Sergaent of arms for a biker gang. What were the laws?
‘I’m wounded that my own sister didn’t even inform me that she had been back in this hell hole.’
You laughed at Billy’s message.
‘Hell hole, you love this hell hole.’
Bill was quick to reply. Must be just lounging around in their little clubhouse. ‘No, I’m quoting you, too lazy to put the quotation marks. 😂.’
You rolled your eyes. Your little brother was such a punk. William Russo was your little brother, adopted really. You both were part of the foster care system and you basically aged out at the same time. You were the first to go and got a job, so that when Billy’s time was up, you would take him in. Once Billy was eighteen, you two reunited and you lived in the shittiest apartment in Buffalo, but you didn’t care and he didn’t either, you two had your own place and you were making a life together. Your co-dependency started when Billy first got into the foster care system, he reminded you of your younger brother, the one you lost after a car accident that killed your parents and little brother. Billy became your saving grace, the thing grounding you to this world. Losing your whole family at eight years old was life changing, obviously, but you thought maybe it was a blessing in disguise. Your mother was just recently diagnosed with a terminal illness and your father was a drunk. He was drunk that night, the only true collateral was your younger brother.
But then you met Billy and your heart started to heal. You knew it was possible for you two to be separated as well, but they basically began to shop you two as a pair. You knew it was a moot point, older children rarely got adopted. You would have lived with your aunt, but she knew she couldn’t provide for you, though you two kept in touch.
In your little apartment in Buffalo, you two met Frank Castle and Curtis Hoyle, they were a few years older and took Billy in. They were good guys, super into their motorcycles, which in hindsight should have been the first clue for you. Billy enlisted to the military, following the two as they were to be deployed again. They served together for five years and in those five years you grew close to both, and your glaring crush on Frank grew every day. But you knew there was no chance, he was in love with his then girlfriend Maria and they eventually had a baby when he got out of the military, their daughter Lisa was the cutest.
Coming out of the military, it was hard to readjust, but the three somehow formed a fucking motorcycle club. You thought it was something new, but it seemed that Frank and Curtis had been a part of this club prior to being deployed, they were prospects prior to being deployed the first time. It seemed like the club was made up of military veterans.
And here you all were fifteen years down the line. You as a registered nurse and the three knuckle heads being widely known in the East Coast as motorcycle enthusiast with a kick.
The kick being a crime organization with ties to the mafia.
You would have thought that being in the military, they would be straight laced, stay on the side of the law.
But people who served in the miltiary at times didn’t get the thank you they deserved.
‘William, I’m here for work. I wasn’t trying to have a reunion.’
The knock on your window startled you and you already had your hand on the gun Billy had gifted you. You looked at the mirror and it was Billy.
“Are you Fucking crazy?! I could have killed you!”
“Mm, doubt that, you’re a terrible shot.”
“Fuck you Russo.”
“We both know that’s disgusting.” He smirked. “Unlock your door.”
You unlocked the door and motioned for him to move away.
“For what?” Billy scoffed.
“COVID, don’t be a dick. I could be infected for all you know.”
“Jesus Christ.” Billy rolled his eyes. “Fine.” He stepped six feet away. “This looks stupid.”
“You are stupid.”
“Mature.” Billy rolled his eyes. “So, been back for almost a year and no calls, texts, or hello’s while practicing social distancing of course.”
“Billy, you live in Buffalo, I’m in the big city, there was no need.” That was a lie and you were certain Billy saw through it.
“Yeah, want to try another excuse?” Billy leaned on some stranger’s car. Your brother never cared much for other people. And with the way Billy looked, you knew it would invite a fight. Every one discredited him, the prim and proper look, a pretty boy, surely he didn’t know how to fight.
People usually learned the hard way.
“It’s not an excuse. I came here at the start of the pandemic.”
“Seattle didn’t pan out?” Your broken relationship with your ex was still a mystery to Billy. You never even told him and had to learn from your friend, Maya, who frequented the clubhouse. She was their resident bartender.
“Yeah, too wet.”
“That’s what she said.”
You and Billy looked at one another, a grin appearing on both of your faces.
“Billy, I would really prefer that this stays between us. I’m not going to stay here. Looking to move to California.” New York held too many memories of the past you never thought you would want to run from. You were never a runner, you always face your problems head on, but what occurred between you and Billy’s best friend Frank on that fateful night, you couldn’t bear to face him again.

Underneath the Tree - a Jeffrey Dean Morgan fanfiction
Jeff scrunched up some newspaper and threw it in the fireplace. He pours two cups of our favorite coffee and saunters back to the living room. My husband looked the sexiest in his bathrobe and glasses. His chest hair peeked out from between the fabric. He had on buffalo plaid pajama pants and cozy slippers.
It was Christmas morning, my most favorite day of the year. We decided to open gifts together before meeting up with friends and family.
“Merry Christmas,” Jeff kisses my forehead and hands me a steaming cup of dark roast with a peppermint stick and cream. I glance up at my husband.
“Merry Christmas, baby,” I hold his cheek peck his lips softly.
He sets down his coffee mug and turns up the radio, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Vince Vance and the Valiants begins to play. Jeff extends his hand.
“Dance with me, pretty girl.” My heart flutters as I get up off the couch. My husband was the sweetest damn thing. We sway around the room. Jeff twirls me and pulls me against his chest, his arms wrapping around my shoulders and rocking me back and forth. “You are the angel atop my tree,” his gruff voice sings. “You are my dream come true. Santa can't bring me what I need. ‘Cause all I want for Christmas is you.” He kisses my neck, “I fall more and more in love with you each day.” The song fades out and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Judy Garland starts.
“I love you immensely. You’re my everything,” I lean in for a kiss. “Ew, coffee breath,” I tease. He pulls away.
“You have it too!” Jeff laughs, kissing my nose and sitting down. “Shall we open gifts?” I grab a small box and Jeff snatches it from me with a cackle.
“Hey! What was that for?”
“Save that one for last!” Jeff kisses me.
“Fine, can I open this one?” I point to the envelope nestled in the branches on the tree.
“Of course!” I grab the envelope and curl up next to my husband on the couch.
“I wonder what it could be,” I say in a sing-song tone. Jeff has a sly grin on his face as he sucks on his peppermint stick. I open the envelope, revealing Jeff’s handwriting with glittery Christmas stickers.
“You’re always a woman to me...”
“Huh, Billy Joel?” I open the card. “OH MY GOD! BILLY JOEL! JEFF! YOU DID NOT!” I throw my arms around his neck, laughing excitedly. “JEFFREY DEAN! YOU GOT ME TICKETS TO BILLY JOEL?! I knew you looked like you were up to something!” Jeff smiles widely.
“I did and I was!” Jeff laughs.
“Thank you so much! I can’t wait! Thank you, babe!”
“It’s on one of my weekends off too, so we’ll be able to go together!” Jeff replies.
“Who said you’re coming?” I tease and playfully punch his chest. I give him the biggest hug and kiss him.
“Who said they’re for you? My name is on the tickets!” Jeff jokes back. We laugh as he grabs a gift.
“My wrapping job isn’t the greatest,” I say sheepishly. Jeff scoffs.
“Doesn’t bother me none.” He unwraps the shimmery paper. “Ooh! Nice! I’ve been needing something warm to feed the animals and shovel in, thanks!” He holds up the cozy jacket.
“You’re welcome!” He unties his robe revealing his gorgeous, slender body.
“It’s a little toasty, don’t you think? I want to see you open more,” Jeff says like a giddy little kid. He points to a large box and a small bag. “I love spoiling you. These next two kind of go together.”
“You don’t have to, you know that.” He hands me the bag.
“I don’t ‘have’ to do anything. I want to, baby doll.” I crack open the bag.
“Aww, that’s so sweet! How did you get your hands on this?” I pull two bags of coffee from my favorite place back home in Illinois. I took Jeff there shortly after I introduced him to the family.
“I’ve got connections.”
“Connections?” I glance at him.
“Okay, it’s your mom,” Jeff laughs. “She snuck it to me when we picked them up from the airport.”
“Black Forest too! Wow! They never have that flavor when I call!”
“That sounds really yummy!” Jeff remarks. I hand him the bag and he takes a whiff. “Smells incredible too.” I grab the fairly large box.
“She got some weight to ‘er!” I unwrap it. “Wow! Jeff! It’s beautiful!” It was a shiny new espresso machine!
“Now you can be my favorite barista at home too!” Jeff kisses me, I place my hand on his warm chest.
“Thank you, honey!”
Jeff opens up another small box. I got him the slim wallet he had been eyeing at the local department store, “I’m going to get me one of those one of these days. That’s super nifty,” he’d remark every single time.
“Alright, NOW you can open this one,” Jeff reaches into his pocket and hands me the delicate box with a bright, Santa Claus red bow. I give it a light shake. I removed the bow and plopped it on Jeff’s head. He giggled and kissed me.
“I love you, baby gal.”
“I love you, Jeffr-,” I gasp. “Wow, it’s absolutely beautiful.”
“I wanted to get you something nicer,” Jeff smiles. “I thought that one suited you perfectly.” Jeff removes the placeholder ring he bought me in Atlanta and slips the real deal on my left hand. “Now, you’re officially Mrs. Morgan.” It was a simple, gold vintage band with a floral engraving all around it.
“I couldn’t have designed this better myself!” I remark. “It’s perfect in every single way.”
“I’m glad you like it,” Jeff kisses me deeply and pulls me onto his lap. “You’re mine,” he rasps, running his hands up my back. I press my hands against his broad, hairy chest. I close my eyes and savor his touch. “It’s Jesus’ birthday, I shouldn’t be this horny for God’s sake,” he mutters and laughs. “Fuck it. Want to have some hot, hot under-the-tree sex before we have company over?”
“I never thought you’d ask,” I playfully roll my eyes and ruffle my husband’s hair.

DREW’S VIEWS
~Words & Photos by Drew Nez~
Tumblr media
With the year of fucking 2020 in the rear view mirror, take a moment to think about all the shit we’ve had to sit and watch going on. From the crumbling state of world affairs, socially and economically, to the disconnect with our of loved ones and the ever present touch of humanity -- all of it dissipated on a dime, leading to the mandate of dehumanizing our very faces for the sake of saving each other from one another. It’s crippled many industries in unimaginable ways, although we’ve adapted (still kicking and going strong) in ways that match the perseverance that our community has always carried without question. A pertinent reminder that we can prevail, overcome, and unify -- even when the subject matter is at its darkest.
This is the introduction to a variety segment, where I can provide poetic rhetoric based on the work of musical masterminds that connect with me sonically. It’s an attempt to go over the top and paint the absolute most vivid picture for listeners that are looking for something new, different, and fresh -- maybe even busting any preconceived notions of how a musical piece sounds, in the process. I sure as fuck ain’t the typical writer with pen and quill in hand.
With the news that Bandcamp will be extending their popular “Bandcamp Fridays” well into 2021, I hope this column will shed light and understanding on new music that really does deserve your ear. Follow me now as I guide you through what I feel are a few of the most impactful compositions released over the past year.

Lord Buffalo  Tohu Wa Bohu
Tohu Wa Bohu by Lord Buffalo
I can’t place a finger on my whereabouts upon hearing this. Roaming a desolate plane on a far off planet, perhaps. What I can say is that this album perfectly depicts what that would mean. 'Tohu Wa Bohu' (2020) is the latest composition from Austin's LORD BUFFALO. It is, to me, the story of acting on nothing but instinct in search of an entity -- a higher being, perhaps -- with writhing and erratic behaviour, as well as the search for closure, perhaps even a stoic warrior soul of sorts at the brunt of an epic journey. Smooth, ambietic delivery, instrumentally and vocally -- as seamless as the fiddler at hand.

Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou     May Our Chambers Be Full
May Our Chambers Be Full by Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou
Consider this a kind of 'David and Goliath' soundtrack of the mind. It tends towards tales of self-indulgence, the disparate perspectives of those who live together intimately, and the dead experience of life. At times, it presents as a kind of duality -- the siren's cadence on the one hand, the wretched guide tugging at the pathos of one’s sense of spiritual direction on the other. One can liken all of the tracks to an experience of being dragged into catacomb under a spell, with the subtext of battle between the gold or filth that lies deep in the gulch of human will. All throughout, backed by an ever flowing orchestra that projects the feeling of being drug down to the deep deep, soothed into an acceptance of fate, and given the yearning to rise again to the surface.
Tumblr media
Primitive Man    Immersion
Immersion by Primitive Man
Defining depths of wrought horror, Immersion is like a gulch liquid that creeps up the walls and consumes every ounce of hope one could possibly aspire to. PRIMITIVE MAN casts the setting of being totally and absolutely lost in a space, coupled with a sense of anxious foreboding in the pursuit of hopelessness. It’s as if I’m getting coaxed into comfort, but through entrapment. A claustrophobia path set beneath the weight of a constricting tunnel, absolutely void of return.

Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol  Burger Babes...FROM OUTER SPACE!
Burger Babes...FROM OUTER SPACE! by Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol
Right out the gate, there’s a build of energy and speed in the latest adrenaline shot from RICKSHAW BILLIE'S BURGER PATROL. Like an otherworldly abduction, the almost surgically executed rhythms are enough to sweep you off your feet and violently whiplash your headspace into orbital lift off. The transitions leave my body feeling completely weightless and calm, with the occasional feeling of explosive confrontation with an alien onslaught -- writhing in vacuum, however, prevailing with defiant persistence! All of this on a machine of exquisite fortification, forged thick, riveted precise, and equipped to destroy, with the capability to ward off the gnarliest of foes until the bitter end!

literally all the horror questions
LMFAOOO thanks matt
Halloween: Favorite horror movie of all time?
SCREAM i think billy and stu are so fun
Scream: What horror movie do you think you’d be able to survive in?
i do not! maybe jennifers body since shes mostly just killing teenage boys and i am not a teenage boy. like i think it would have to be a situation where i am just not on the killers radar bc honestly? honestly? im not fucking like, outwitting michael or some shit
Child’s Play: How and when did you get into horror movies?
okay i was a weirdly nervous kid and was too scared to do anything that might make me get scared, like i would leave school early on the halloween party days bc i didnt like all the masks, so i avoided horror for a really long time, but for some reason when i was like sixteen i REALLY wanted to watch hannibal so i got the dvd from my library and was then obsessed
The Witch: Scariest horror movie you’ve ever seen?
probably the blair witch project. i dont normally get like actual physical anxiety when i watch horror but this movie made me feel tense as fuck. the original reason i wanted to watch it was that i was reading one of stephen kings books about writing/horror and he mentioned in it that the first time he tried to watch it he had to ask his son to turn it off like halfway through bc it was freaking him out too bad and i was like omg. i have to know what goes on in the movie that fucked up stephen king
Poltergeist: What are some horror movies on your watch list?
carrie (forgot to watch it after i finished the book back in march), some of the other saw movies now that the first one has me fucked up, the other texas chainsaw massacres, the exorcist (which i should also read at some point), and whatever those fucking like classic zombie movies are that im blanking on the names of rn
Friday the 13th: Least favorite horror movie?
nightmare on elm street was bad! tbh i thought freddy sucked shit before i even watched it but like. hes really just a pathetic little man isnt he. i dont care about any of the people in that movie. wes craven you did scream so good how did you fuck this one up
Psycho: When was the last time you watched a horror movie?
literally last night when i watched saw for the first time which FUCKED by the way i would literally watch saw again right now. this is an adam stanheight account from now on
Rosemary’s Baby: Favorite sub-genre of horror?
i mean. slashers. obviously. they take up a lot of my blog i think. but thats really just for movies like, horror books that try to read like slashers tend to be Not Good, so i guess my favorite sub genre for books is whatever tf the shining had going on. haunted house shit. CONCEPTUALLY ive been obsessed with spatial horror lately but im just obsessed in a Thinking About Things sort of way and not so much in a consuming things sort of way
The Exorcist: If you were able to make your own horror movie villain, what would you call them + what would they be like?
oh good fucking question a while ago @thegrandmarsh and i were sort of generally talking about a couple slasher ocs that i forgot to do anything with bc i am bad at maintaining ocs. i dont know how people do it. but generally speaking when i try to do slasher ocs i come up with these traits: they are a little shit, they live someplace very cold, they either already have a partner or try to convince someone to become their partner, and they have some kind of proclivity for stalking. they're also USUALLY a white boy because white boys just love serial killing. they have the entitlement necessary. god i saw someone on tik tok the other day draw their slasher oc and i really should have saved the video
Frankenstein: What’s an underrated horror movie, in your opinion?
RED DRAGON i like red dragon so much more than silence of the lambs. like i think silence is a good movie if we all agree to ignore the transphobia for two hours or whatever but like. i care so much more about dolarhyde than i do about buffalo bill, like, fundamentally. its not even that i think hes a more interesting villain (i do) but like i CARE about him as a PERSON. i get it we all subscribe to the hugh dancy will graham school of thought now but i promise if we can all just accept this blonde will then we can have so much fun with this movie. francis eats a painting. okay
A Nightmare on Elm Street: Favorite horror franchise?
HALLOWEEN i literally like. okay honestly i think TWO of the halloween movies are worthwhile and the rest are like. i simply do not need these, but i give the little ted talk i have in my head about what i think are the Five Michael Canons like every time im bored pacing around my room so its definitely the franchise that i think about the most. and i love michael so much
