Reality changes constantly. We can accept it or resist the whole way. My reality keeps bouncing between denial, sadness and anger. Many things happened last month. Not only did I lose a family friend, in a very tragic way; my grandma was in horrible accident. I mean this accident SHOULD have killed her but it didn’t. Thank heavens, she’s alive.
However, this accident has marked her forever. Her skin is burned from that accident. 2nd degree deep burns and PTSD that is slowly creeping in. She survived a gas tank explosion. But her body and mind took the huge brunt of it. While she’s had many surgeries and has been a good hospital in Guatemala, for about month now, things have changed exponentially.
She will be released soon and the hard work is about to come. My family and I have been dealing has best as we can but this has been heavy. Heavier than you could ever imagine.
So I want to share her gofundme and just ask that people share. If you want to donate, I would be grateful forever. But shares and visibility helps equally. These toughs times have been hitting hard. Real hard on people I love most in this world. So a reminder that everyone is fighting a hidden battle. Be kind. Be mindful. And be empathetic to people who are struggling. You don’t know the battles they fought or are still fighting.
Thank you,
Veronica

How should live action media handle stuff like burn scars? I was thinking about this book The Candymakers where a main character has burn scars on his arms and face from a very plot relevant event; the scars itch and make him drop things, and his arc involves realizing ppl treat him differently b/c of how he looks. If someone made a TV show or something out of that, should they look for someone with those specific scars or just use makeup?
So I actually have quite a bit of scarring myself because of cystic acne and selfharming and my aunt suffered burns on like 50% of her body as a kid in the 70s. Honestly I think we really need to see more burn victims in media. Like I follow amputees and people with acne scarring like mine on youtube that can cover it up you know? But I rarely see people with burn scars on social media. And like my aunt is pretty she's always been pretty to me but I've never seen burn victims in magazines or even tiktok or insta.
Tbh I think an effort should be made to include more burn victims in media and we shouldn't rely so much on makeup and visual fx. Also you don't have to have the same burn pattern you could definitely adjust the burn pattern to an existing person.

In Knives Out Blanc wanted to do the murder mystery investigation with Marta so bad, but she was certain she was guilty so she spent a good amount of the movie avoiding/hiding stuff from him
Meanwhile in Glass Onion Helen was fucking carrying the investigation, even while accidentally getting drunk, and even went to investigation lengths Blanc was hesitant to do

Halloween prompts year 2 day 28
Thomas stared down at Bruce-no- Danny as he led him by the hand toward what he had dubbed as his "Secret Lair" which was just an old fall out shelter in the woods that had been well hidden and forgotten about. The door to it was old and still buried under years of dirt and plant growth, requiring Danny to phase them into it which made Thomas wonder how his grandson had found it in the first place.
Inside was surprisingly high tech. "You have a secret lair filled with all this equipment but don't have any weapons or armor?" Thomas asked, making mental preparations to fix that.
Danny sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck and explained his only allies were two other 14 year olds who were also untrained, unarmed, unarmored, and unsuper-powered which would explain why Danny was so excited to be working with an adult vigilante who at least knew what they were doing.
The kid didn't even mind when some of his more evil or harmful rogues "stopped showing up" thankfully no one would really question the reclusive Vlad Masters "going back to Wisconsin" only to never be seen again. No one saw much of him before coming to Amity Park, it made since he would become a hermit again once he had his fill of human interaction.
And if hes later found dead in his cheese castle? Well, the body had decomposed too much to really say what killed him. His will left everything to a Daniel James Fenton/Daniel James Masters which visibly infuriated Danny. Thomas mentally patted himself on the back. It was a good call to get rid of that one. The will was a surprise, though one that can only benefit Thomas in his crusade of protecting his grandson. Its not like he can return to a timeline that no longer exists anyway.
Unfortunately this doesn't stop the bats from hearing about "Batman" operating in a city in Illinois for the past few months...

Looking at the Saw wiki’s page for Jigsaw’s victims gives such major whiplash because the reason for being tested will be like:
killed someone
corrupt cop
abused partner
racist
And then you’ll see shit like:
was a defense attorney and defended people
tried to catch a serial killer
was abused by partner
cared about friends too much
And my personal favorite
unknowingly married a guy who lied about some stuff

team bolas' victim complex makes sooooo much sense from like a character standpoint and it drives me crazy. i don't think they ever left day one. i think in their heads, they're still burning themselves in that bonfire. half their players were inactive, they had a clear pvp disadvantage, and they kept getting killed by other teams. it was them against the world on day one. their only solace was each other when they felt helpless and they're carrying that with them to drive them forward. they still call themselves victims because if they win, then it's a pleasant surprise, and if they lose, that's just how it is with team bolas, right? it's better to have no hope at all in the first place than to feel the crushing weight of having your hopes dashed.
day one was hell. their friends killed them repeatedly without mercy, they had barely anything while other teams built their bases, and they were bottom of the leaderboard. they've come to expect tragedy, even after their multiple victories, after they've come to regard one another as family, after they've worked so, so hard to be one of the last teams standing and actually made it. they never left that bonfire.

not to get too serious about a silly shonen but I genuienly find it heartbreaking that dabi is pretty explicit about how his father forced himself onto his mother and we have to see other supercops trivialize this boy’s trauma and hurt like okay. It’s realistic but it’s so sad like wow ok

Whumpmas in July: Day Three
"___ deserved it."
TW: Blood, knife, torture, victim blaming, burning
"You were bad," Whumper said, as they wiped the blood off their knife. "You disobeyed my rules. You understand that, don't you?"
Whumpee shivered from their place on the table. "I-I understand," they whispered, tears blurring their vision.
"Do you? Or are you just saying that to get me to stop?"
They choked on a sob. Of course they were saying it to get them to stop. They hadn't done anything wrong, they were only trying to get away, to escape this place of rules and punishment.
Whumper sighed. "Well, I suppose that's that question answered. What do you think we should try next? I've got a pyrography pen I've been meaning to break in..."
"No, no please-" they couldn't take any more, they couldn't, it had been hours since Whumper started carving into their skin, they couldn't do this-
"You deserve this, Whumpee. I'm not punishing you for no reason. You disobeyed, and now you deserve to be punished."
Whumpee nodded frantically, eyes following whumper as they walked to a shelf and grabbed a tool, a pen with a plug for an outlet. They bent down and plugged it in and oh god it wasn't done-
"Say it, Whumpee. Tell me what you deserve."
They sucked in a breath, and the air felt heavy in their lungs. "I-I deserv-ved it. I deserve t-to be punish-shed."
Whumper smiled, picking up the pen and positioning it just above Whumpee's thigh. Close enough that they could feel the heat radiating off it.
"Good. Now I just need you to believe it."
