The Boy Wonder #1 by Juni Ba rambling about why every time i open this book, i stare in wonder...HAHA and ofc!! how cute Damian is!!

Juni Ba’s style is so absurdly effective in telling a fairy tale for the ages. It’s a stunning blend of simplicity and complexity I'M GRIPPING THE PAGES AGAINST MY EYES…

Before getting into the interiors, THE COVER!! It associates autumn leaves to Damian's Robin title through the iconic cape shape/color; and on top of that, for a Robin going through a big transition in his life...a season of change one might say...Juni Ba your brain...

Damian and the leaves being the only colored parts of this cover is nice in focusing on those elements, but i also like to think by not coloring the background it prepares you to expect impressive inkwork in this book.

On that note, the interiors!! Starting off with Ba's backgrounds of Gotham as it establishes the strange new world that our young hero has been thrust into:

We get a neat tracking shot following a champagne glass that gives us a glimpse of Gotham from the upper echelons to the downtrodden in "Underwell"

This opening sequence quickly lays out the environment Damian will be traveling through in this series! It also sets the tone for some silliness with the cute zoom on the champagne glass before it BOKs the robber lol. Along with Ba's inks, O'Halloran's colors makes every part of Gotham pop - especially love the golds of the higher society shifting into the blues of the underbelly!!

Besides Damian’s personal conflict, Gotham feels like its own entity that he has to contend with. The dialogue speaks for itself, but within the art as well!!

"This city of ours swallows and crushes everything it can" -> a gargoyle's beak over Damian, crowds of people, and walls of advertising

"You've seen it too...the way it coils around one's mind from below." -> bridges and a passing train on a rail viaduct towering over a civilian

"A dark voice calling as if to say..." -> literally, "FEED ME"

LOVELY SHOT OF MOVEMENT... and i love how Damian's venture into Gotham opens with him passing a tree - its branches and leaves are the most organic element on the page before getting into the gritty details of the city! Some yammering because the inks are. so cool: the delicate lines of the leaves in the tree to the thicker/bigger lined ones closer to the camera on the right; the background inks allowing space around Damian's form + the fine line of his grapple!! More O'Halloran praise - PRETTY, and love his coloring over Ba's bg lines, particularly here, keeping the leaves darker on the right.

It's not only a pretty page it's just a really clean layout!! Ba exhibits this throughout the book but i really enjoy it here - from Damian nyooming, we head into these last 3 panels. his cute lil "Robin" shape easily draws the eye to the tops of the panels as we take in Gotham's liveliness alongside the lettering/narration

and the "Robin" shape?? SO CUTE. it's instantly familiar to us as Robin!! bold outline and filled with yellow...it's a Robin in movement!!...AN AUTUMN LEAF IN THE WIND... yeah, still not over that 😭

Damian's inciting incident is introduced in the former panel with a gorgeous backdrop of Gotham in the distance (plus itty bitty Trinity cameo haha). The shot parallels!! beautifully!! in the final page!! Damian is now in the depths of Gotham, his objective out of reach. The colors are of note too, where the familiar yellows of Gotham are suddenly a startling green after the demon makes its appearance. The Gotham land looks even more unfamiliar, which prompts Damian to seek help.

Some speculation, but the green could also be associated with the more mythical side of demons and such (like the ghost?? of the thief), but it could even imply there's a connection to the Al Ghuls themselves as it's the only other time green is so prominently used.

Now that the land of Gotham is established, popping in other fav bgs!

More lovely mix of Ba's inks and O'Halloran's colors!! especially allowing some of the brush/marker strokes to show faintly as part of the twinkling sky...STUNNING!! 😭 i love this whole page but this panel gets me weepy, SMALL DAMIAN IN THE VAST UNIVERSE COMBINED WITH THIS LINE "He knew he could be great. How unfair of the world to make him feel so small." KICKS MY ASS... i need to lie down

YAPPING AT MORE WONDERFUL INKING: the suggestion of windows offscreen from the frames casting these thick lines over the walls and stairwell; the minute shadow details over the railing; the hatching on the suits in the portrait; the framed portrait being its own panel!! cute hooded Damian in the gutter space looking in on the portrait/panel!! CUTE HOODED DAMIANS!!

SPEAKING OF PANELS, along with general effectiveness and efficiency, there's more whimsy in others!! like this kickass page of Nightwing whipping his escrima from first panel -> afterimage lines going POWPOWPOW hitting demons from a distance to ones closer to the camera -> and back into his hand!! IT'S SO GOOD AND SO FUN!!

Ba's action employs more diagonal panels, and characters are less restrained within boxes - there's more energy and freedom across the page!

not necessarily focusing on the action for this one, but THE WHIMSY!! the border itself is goop!! Also gotta point out that looming hammer shape!!

Nightwing's critical hit spans the entire page!! from silhouettes of a flip -> flashy stomping pose/Clayface -> to a distant shot of Dick landing

and a smooth finisher page!! love the motion lines on Dick's arms and waist + his head and arc effects popping outside of the borders; then the smaller panels for quick activity, and the final WOOB WOOB WOOB LOL i can hear this sound effect just as much as i can see it

Along with O'Halloran on colors, Aditya Bidikar on lettering works seamlessly with Ba's vision!! The text boxes for the fairy tale narration are like strips of yellowing pages from an old storybook!! Had to look up the term for this lol, but also reminiscent of those storybooks, there's even a use of "drop caps" - the big fancy capital letter!

Smaller things of note, but the bit of "Weakness" text from Ra's has a kind of. grandiose feel to it. Then the cute B< Damian behind the window!! Love how the bubble and text are faded behind the glass too! The end of the bubble tail is a nice touch as it matches well with Ba's bg inking :0

Otherwise, it seems Ba has done a majority of the lettering - dropping a couple of my favs below!!

also just this whole page: the very loud AAAH! text draws both Damian's and the reader's attention to the panel below!! it's a cool transition to a new shot where you can see Damian's silhouette on the building! The final panel is cartoony violence off-page through the bold POW BOOM SLAM haha + DAMIAN'S LIL FIST!!🥺 and the guy's tooth RIP

Pure speculation - Juni Ba's concept art included Carrie Kelley, so i'm wondering if the hostage in the beginning could be her and we'll be returning to this moment in time by the end. The worn Robin colors are similar to the design + their head is conveniently covered.

In terms of story, I'm obviously heavily biased, but the initial read got me rolling in emotions with how it has you caring for Damian. Damian as a character is so fantastical in essence - it’s part of his individual charm in the batfam cast! an heir of two kingdoms, born and raised with great expectations suddenly thrust into an unfamiliar land. he has a sword. he has a dragon bat for a companion. he is haunted by the sins he has committed. he is two apples tall. he's truly fairytale material!!

LIKE...past the panels of only his silhouettes, this is our introductory appearances of Damian. It's laid out clearly in the narration, but this parallel is SO GOOD: from the powerful and ornate visuals of Damian and the Al Ghuls -> to a simple panel of Batman's shadow behind a boy littered in scars, stripped of his home and status

Damian is out of his element and proves himself in the way he knows how!!

just kick me down a flight of stairs why don't you. i don't know which messes me up more, the top 3 or bottom 3 panels. His facial expressions!! his expectations for approval dashed!! Damian's hand reaching for his father!! only to be left alone with the body. The page after this is the final nail in the coffin in feeling just how lost he is in the world before he acts on it. And you root for him the entire way!!😭

Despite Damian's fanciful background there's so much heart to be shown in his struggles and discoveries - and this classic form of a fairy tale lays it out so brilliantly!! It's shaping up to be an amazing balance of heavier elements and whimsy based on this first issue, and it leaves you wanting more!!

Besides being a thoroughly enjoyable read, it's inspiring work!! i've ordered Juni Ba's other books to consume more of his storytelling, and here's the ones i've found so far if you're interested in checking them out as well!!

I have a lot of really great pictures of Nanuq- in focus, good composition, etc. And I also have a lot of pretty bad pictures of Nanuq- and in a lot of them he's the happiest he could be. And i really miss him a lot, so here- some terrible photos of my excellent dog.

An Baby, extremely suspicious of the incoming tide, and Yearling's First Harness time. The one and only time his reaction to that harness was bored befuddlement and not 'instant joyful zoomies.'

Still mostly baby, refusing to get out of the driver's seat of the car because this is where the Snow is and this is where the Bacon Lady is and we can't leave yet.

Self-explanatory

A park saga of finding a delicious grody tennis ball, becoming a husky vortex of murdergrowlraarg, and then realizing it's california and sunny and it's hot so now it's time to de-vortex and just lay down and snap lazily at each other. (white is Sasha, black is Mishka; the dog park quickly learned what Husky Hour really meant and either adapted to a background noise of murder or avoided the park around sundown)

And finally, his favoritest thing ever: mud and stormy weather and nyoom. That estuary muck took like four rounds of scrubbing, and he was the saddest wet beaft in existence during that process. He had that sproingy wooly husky fur that traps the smallest bits of grit and particulates but loooved mud puddles and smushy grass and lakeshore/bayshore shenanigans.

He was ours and we loved him.

Lil betta fish update that nobody asked for! :D So, few weeks ago I bought in a shop this raggedy lil thing. All fins shredded and ripped, not in ideal conditions at the point that I had no idea which kind of betta it was... I never do this kind of stuff, but it looked promising, so I brought it at home regardless its state. He looked weak, but a bit lively. It looked like this.

This is him after just few weeks of clean water and good food. One day I'll learn how to take decent photos with the phone. They all look bad. :,D

He still looks like a wet paper towel and I still have no idea what he actually is (He might be a half moon dumbo ear plakat...Not sure yet..), but his fins are growing back super fast. He also got purple-ier than before. And he nyooms all around his fishtank as you can see below.

A good thing. It means he's feeling better. :D Also the bullied-nice-colored female betta I got the same day is doing good. She loves food. She's like me fr fr.

I thus present to you Zedaph as Poudretteite as well as Worm Man as 'Pink Chalcedony' and a fusion of WM with @sweetest-honeybee 's Evil Xisuma design. (Mainly bc i had a better idea of a fusion btwn the two rather than with chrisrin's tango and impulse, but i might figure it out) Thanks for letting me use your design! It let me make Covelite!

And while there's some notes in the drawings, there shall be more below the cut!

Okay so I immediately jumped to Zed being a pink colored gem and stumbled upon a few options. I knew I wanted to pick 2, one to be Zed's gem and the other to be WM's supposed gem, and almost swapped their gem types before learning that there was a chalcedony on the show.

I think it is a fun thing to have Zed and WM insist they are totally not the same person (or gem in this case), and here we see that WM is shapeshifting the gem position around, and that could have worked... if it weren't blatantly obvious that he looks nothing like a chalcedony. I mean look at how close the different colored Pearls look, or Sapphire and Padparacha.

The base form I used for Zed is from a gem silhouette from 'The Answer', which was the only one to have those lil ball hands as the others had at least some semblance of regular hands. So I kept that detail and even made a joke about how Zed can still just pick stuff up, and that even carries over to the fusion

speaking of the fusion.

Other than a ZIT(S) fusion, the most obvious one is w/ Evil X. And I absolutely love Bee's design and brain went nyoom with it, expecially the fact that he's corrupted??? Hello???!??! We saw in the show w/ Jasper and one of the corrupted Jaspers fusing that it left remnants of the other's corruption on Jasper herself. I loved the idea that Zed could get lil sheep like horns post-first fusion with Evil X, so boom, it now exists.

(Also the lil spots carrying over makes it even more obvious Zed/WM are the same gem so haha lol)

As for the fusion itself, I saw that Evil X seemed to have dragon elements, and that fits perfectly w/ my personal headcanons of them being an ender dragon (hybrid), and then we have sheep hybrid zedaph, and what is a fluffy dragon? luck dragon!!!

The front legs are more dragon like, back legs more sheep like (claws and then hooves respectively) and then there is fluffy luck dragon tail! oh! and I had fun with making the mane of hair work as Evil X's fancy collar thing.

Their head is based a lot on Alexandrite's, with the two mouth thing going on. I thought it would go nicely with their concept and i think it works well.

And then other details! I used the distance models style to show off the past reformations of Zed and WM. Also slight drawing mistake, in the lil comic of WM showing off his new corruption marks, he should be in his 'Early s5' design (I'll prolly go back and fix it in the morning fixed 'n added Covelite's colors). I picture the first fusion btwn the two being an adaption of when EX trapped WM in prison, then reappeared being good now to help him escape, but they needed to fuse to do so. (Oh i also used the distance models to do a lil size comparison)

man I'm creating that fucking outline of timelined events for Counting Sheep, and I wanted to at least yeet in that first Halloween Event, since it's effectively just a week, but THEN YOU GOT ENDLESS Halloween and if you're like me, you wanted OUT by then because "LET ME OUTTTT!!! LET OUTTT" cuz I burnt out nyooming through the first part for my SR Malleus, and dipped.

So lemme just turn that into a fucking noodle incident that often gets referred to cuz nothing much really changes, but it adds some slight depth to Malleu's eventual behavior in Book 7, and you can expect Yuu (ewe) to just bring it up every now and then like... "Hey, remember when that happened?"

Only Yuu really looks back on it fondly, but that's also because Tsunotaro was being a typical brat boy fae who STILL hasn't realized he has a crush yet and Lilia THE FUCKING ENABLER, just, "hey, you should spend more time with Yuu."

They also love to play in water and they can get zoomies.

Hey, I just came here from your Celestial Depths fic, which I love by the way, and as I was looking at the art in the note of the last chap I noticed that Sun's tail seems to have crevices along it, rather than being flat and solid. Basically what I'm getting at is: is Sun's tail actually a single limb, or is he too rocking stealth tentacles like Moon and Reader just didn't notice since he didn't separate them during their interactions? You don't have to answer, I was just curious and thought I'd ask! Thank you for writing such a nice fic!

I'm happy to answer this! Yes! Sun does indeed also have secret tentacles! Sun and Moon have the same tails!

Even if Sun did untwist his tail in front of reader, reader wouldn't have noticed because almost all their interactions being very swift due to Sun nyooming off or had Sun hiding most of his body (like the peekaboo bit)/being too close for reader to get the chance to look down and catch him or realise his tail was odd. That's for them to be exasperated about another time! These alien fish and their damn secrets! >:3

In the art, you're seeing essentially what both "modes" are. Moon is in "stealth mode" aka he's got his many grabbers out, and Sun is in "speed mode" where the limbs are all twisted/pressed together to create the tail. In the fic, when I mention Moons tentacles all pressing together to create one limb? That's what's happening. Just imagine Suns tail on Moon instead!

Moon prefers creeping around and grabbing up stuff, so he'll more often be in stealth mode. He prefers ambush hunting, so will creep up on his prey and either grab them unawares or will burst out at them (usually at this point he would switch to speed mode if he needs a bit of distance, but that generally also depends on how large what hes hunting is. The bigger it is, he may decide grip/restraining ability is needed).

Sun like swimming around fast and prefers chase hunting, thus hes usually in speed mode. He gets bored (as evidenced by the poor guys constant search and failure in finding something else to play with so he's not constantly bothering Moon lol) and the thrill of chase entertains him and gets his energy out. He very much plays with his food haha. Sometimes he'll speed at his prey then unfurl his tentacles and essentially crash tackle whatever unfortunate creature he's decided to play with/hunt lol ^^"

Apologies if the tail switching wasn't entirely clear- I did intend to expand more on it later once the boys and reader has a chance to get a good look at them. I hope this help clarify!

They're a lot of fun to pet! Some will just zoom right on up for some petpets! I met one a few years ago at a zoo who just loved me, he was in a circular pool, so he'd slow down to let me pet him, and then NYOOM around the circle just to get pet again

there's also a small interaction where Clara invites the player for a picnic and you can suggest to bring along Svarog, and she says; "I will invite Mr. Svarog along! Top 5 "Extra Character" Modes in Castlevania? (Ex: Richter in SotN, Trevor in CoD, Maxim in HoD).

5) Joachim Mode. He has a very interesting moveset with his swords! And I can't ignore the novelty of playing as a villain. Also lol Joachim you can land your feet on the ground sometimes, showoff

4) Trevor Mode. Sadly this mode exposes how much the main game relies on forging and crafting, because it's not very fun to run around without a purpose. But holy shit Trevor is a fucking beast and he reduces everything to pulp... not even with the elemental whips, just with his kicks :P weaponizing his slutty boots <3

3) Julius Mode (DoS). What a great idea to make it an alternative ending instead of just a reskin! And the bad ending to boot! And recreating CV3 (but without grant rip) was very smart.

2) Maxim Mode. Only ruined by how it's even easier to get lost in this mode, Maxim is a joy to control. He nyooms even faster than Juste, he triple jumps, he uses the Screw Attack like he was Samus... Personally I prefer playing as him in a Maxim Story hack to enjoy his moveset with the right restrictions.

1) Albus Mode. Very similar to Maxim, but he fits like a glove the linear structure of OoE. I love shooting and teleporting to my heart's content <3 nothing else to say, he just has great movement.

GLADLY but I can't reveal too much bc of spoilers since my GF and I are working on a thing together about the foxxo and her dragon husband uwu we hope to release it very soon. For now I can tell you a bit of her background +  about her.

Haru is from the spirit realm and she comes from a very wealthy and highly respected family. She was born around the Heian Period , Kannin Era (year 1021). She was born as a small fox and couldn't shapeshift properly into a human-like form until she was about 7 years old as she wasn't able to control her abilities and powers let alone figure out how (she was just a child after all), thus making her a late bloomer (in her parent's eyes that is, they always put too much pressure on her and have high expectations).

Now having 9 tails, Haru has better control over her powers and has many abilities such as: Multiplying herself - At most she can make 9 clones of herself. She leaves one clone at home to keep watch over the house while she is working with her husband, Norio.

Fox familiars - Haru can hear and see everything through her fox familiars, wherever they are she will hear and see all. She is everywhere, yet nowhere. Her familiars are very useful in the type of work she does at night (assassin). During the day she assists her husband (who is a CEO) with work and often times he likes to steal one of her familiars cuz they are sooo cute and technically her. His wifey is just soooo cute and fluffy you know.

Shapeshifting / Transformation - She can turn into either a small fox, medium fox or an even larger size; larger than a house even. Illusion Manipulation / Dream Manipulation - Pretty much speaks for itself I think. Haru can make illusions seem so real and trap you within it that you might not ever come to reality. She revels in breaking others' mentality for fun or when one dares cross her. Foxes love to play tricks after all and she is very petty, she will not be the bigger person if someone messes with her. She is the epitome of r/pettyrevenge. Definitely don't do weed before encountering her.

To see one squirm underneath her gaze brings her delight but she is harmless if you show her respect and treat her kindly, she will treat you the same in return. Hell, maybe even give her offerings in food, like strawberry daifuku, fried tofu or even a hamburger and she might give you her protection. But absolutely do not betray her trust.

Around her husband she is just so affectionate and cheerful towards him. She even has a bit of a silly side such as pouncing into the snow when no one is looking and has a habit of snatching her hubby's belongings so she can be chased by him. Those fox instincts you know. Nyoom.

queens-A-10s cus they get to blow stuff up but theyre really slow so pick your poison, i think they'd do A-10s in the field and hang back to train on the T-38s but i know queensies would love A-10s cus they have a rotating gun on the front that shoots super fast and is just an all around cool plane ALTERATIVELY they would also be F-16s because go nyoom shoot stuff

bronx-T-38s, trainers for the big jets and only used sparingly (sorry bronx xx) i think they'd be ground control as well

harlem-C-5 galaxy, MASSIVE jet used for transportation of troops and cargo n planes n stuff and when i say massive i mean m a s s i v e like they drive wholeass tanks and jets n stuff in there, and the nose swings up aswell as the back hatch so you can just. drive straight through this giant plane, its so cool

long island-F-35 theyre pretty fast and can go pretty high so all around a good jet, not much else to say

ive had a scene for if i actually wrote this stuck in my head all day abt eel n shoe and i just ughhhh ok now i have to write it but i'm gonna put a read more so if you dont want to read it you dont have to xx

a crackle and a ding came over the intercom, soft breathing following. "heya harv, it's just me n' you right now." eel rasped. harvey swallowed, bile threatening to rise in his throat.

"no no no, please-" another burst of static in his ear. "hey this is monkey to shoe, are you ok? i know-ah shit!-sorry, there's a lot goin' on, but no one was talking to ya before-?" monkey trailed off, waiting for shoe's answer. he blinked back the tears he knew were going to come, tilting his throttle up to get him higher. "i-uh, it's- it's fine, i-"

"harvey, i ain't got a lot of time, i ne-i need you to listen." eel's voice wavered, but it was still strong in harvey's ear. he nodded. "m' listenin'."

"monkey to shoe again, are-" "gimme a second, blake?" shoe snapped, maneuvering around the sky as projectiles screamed past him, missing him by mere meters. using the first name in the field was a big no-no, but it made monkey shut up, though shoe could hear him over the comms talking to the other pilots, asking if they had heard shoe as well.

his comms were messed up, he realized; he was supposed to be on a private channel with eel, and it had glitched and made it so only he could hear eel, but the entire squadron-and everyone on the ground, he thought-could hear him.

he drew in a shaky breath. "i'm here, zeke. talk to me."

eel chuckled dryly. "don't go all top gun on me, you'se the one makin it out of here."

harvey's heart seemed to stop, the air around him seeming to compress in and choke him.

"what?"

eel sighed and sniffed, the shuffling from his end telling shoe he was moving his helmet around, wiping tears. "harvey, my engine's blown and we're on enemy territory. i'm miles away from everyone else on orders from boss, it was s'posed to be a sneak attack but they got to you faster than cowboy thought-" "no, do not say what-" harvey interrupted. "harvey liam sellers, will you listen to me for once in your stupidly beautiful life?"

shoe sobbed quietly, watching his radar on his display, praying to any god who might still have love for him that it would pick up anything but the others in the squadron and the MIGs.

"we both knew deep down when we got orders i wasn't coming back from this one." eel sounded surprisingly calm for a guy who was talking about the possibility of his own death. "no, please, you can't do this to me right now, what about-" shoe sniffed, knowing he was arguing with a mind made up.

"ground control to phantom four, are you alright?" it was comforting to hear another familiar voice, the message poker carried not so much. "peachy, ground. i- everything's just kosher." harvey knew he sounded extremely far from fine, and hoped his friends on the ground wouldn't comment.

"your comms seem to be malfunctioning, i'll get saz on that asap, but are you sure-" poker seemed hesitant, like he didn't want to push buttons but was genuinely worried.

"fine, poker." shoe flipped the manual switch to cut comms with ground, before flipping it back on a moment later.

"still there?" he murmured, knowing full well there was at least twenty people besides eel who could hear him if they listened.

"never left, sweetheart." harvey almost started crying at the sound of eel's voice, and the knowledge of what he was going to say next.

"you gotta listen here, harv. you n' i both know i ain't gettin out of here alive-no, do not argue, i know you want to i know, sweetheart-you have to get home to charlie and fia, you gotta-" he swallowed, the sound audible through the headset. "you gotta tell them what happened to me, and tell them-"

the scream of a missile and the unmistakeable sound of an implosion blocked out eel's voice.

harvey's heart stopped.

"eel? eel, are you there? this is phan- phantom four to ra- raven two, are you-" the panic in his head and the pounding in his ears made it nearly impossible to see. he tried to breathe like eel taught him, but his throat seemed intent on making him stutter and practically asphyxiate.

"hoarder to shoe, what is going on? are you alright, do you need backup?" his friend sounded alarmed. for good reason, thought shoe through his panic.

"ground, i ne-i need co-ords on- on raven two, i-i've lost comms with-"

"ah, merde! harv, i'm here!" the sound of eel's voice was garbled, but it was there.

"eel? ezekiel cattaneo, where t-the hell are you? give me your coord-coordinates, i'll be right there." the relief that flooded shoe's body was instantaneous, but short lived.

"no time! they got my other engine, i've put them post on standby and i'm usin' the propellors, but they blasted those too. i think there's three MIGs, but it's hard to tell."

the sounds of the entire rest of the squadron and ground control trying to get shoe's attention faded as he absorbed the information his lover gave him.

"i know i'm goin out, so i'll say this before i die.

"harvey 'shoe' liam sellers, you are the most incredible and amazing soul i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. my life has been so much better since i had you in it, and i know charlie and fia can say the same. i need you to tell the kids i love them, and i need you to remember to take deep breaths when you get overwhelmed, okay? can you do that for me, tesoro?"

"ez, i-i-"

"i love you, you know that? you're the first man i've ever truly believed that i've loved, and the first to have loved me back." eel was clearly out of breath and choked up, but shoe could hear him as clearly as if he was standing next to him, despite the delay on the comms and the static overlaying eel's speech.

"zeke, ple- please, y-you gotta tell me whe- where you are, i can get th- there in t- time i promise, please-" harvey was sobbing. he knew he couldn't reach his lover in time before his engines failed completely, and the risk of hitting the canopy on ejection was so high there was such a slim chance of survival it was almost laughable, if shoe had felt like laughing.

"i love you, ok?" screaming missiles and static filled shoe's ears again.

he sat in shock.

"eel? c'mon, y- you c- can't do thi- this to me, baby, i-i can't..." silence and more static.

"g- ground, y-you got a- a locat- a location o -on raven two?" he muttered, his brain feeling like mush.

Smashed (Gwen): it’s a solid audio up until she gets smashed and then it’s just terrible to listen to and also they established this one good guy OC was the only person of color in the town and then killed him off and I have never gotten over that, don’t fucking bother

Dissected (Gwen): Martha beloved, it’s a solid audio, the characterization of their dynamic is a little strange when compared to the radio play with them, but it’s nothing unforgivable, worth it

bushmed: i think both would give the other a little alone time first, just because medic and sniper are prone to being in moods when they're upset! but medic would absolutely croon and dote on sniper, laying it on really thick!! he's so sorry his spatzchen had a bad day, come and relax! :-) the over the top cooing would make sniper snort and playfully shove him off (before clambering up close to him or resting his head on medic's lap)... he feels better already! when medic is upset, sniper is the master of changing the subject. what medic usually needs is just a little change of setting! sniper will lace his fingers with medic's (gently coaxing some kind of Murder Tool out of his hands) and bring them to his own chest and hold them there... say "why don't you let me take you outside for a while, out of your gilded cage," and grins crookedly and medic can't help but smile and medic hums and is like "i suppose i could stretch my wings..." (medic loves when sniper likens him to a bird and sometimes he does it because he Wants sniper to know he loves it and do it More) and sniper smiles and kisses medic's forelock and is like "mhmm. c'mon then, pretty dovey." and even if they just go to sniper's camper or go out on a walk or something small and simple, it's always just what medic needs to cheer up! spoovy: neither of them need alone time; they just go right to each other! heavy and spy are mercenaries that aren't particularly close with any of their other teammates (and that's how they like it), so they find sanctuary in each other. spy is someone who is almost always Put Together, so it takes heavy a bit to find out just how spy ticks and knowing when he's really down. once heavy senses his partner is feeling bad, he takes spy in his arms and gently pulls him close... spy loves the feeling and security of heavy's embrace and will always insist that he's fine, and heavy will hum and be like "heavy knows this. spy is always just fine," and shrug casually and be like "perhaps we can stay like this anyway?" and spy nods and after a few moments he leans his head into heavy's chest and takes deep breaths... calming breaths... focuses on heavy's weight all around him and feels Secure... Safe.... sometimes this is when he'll open up but other times he won't, spy is very fickle like that! but heavy is there for him regardless :) and when heavy's upset, spy loves to hold him, too. people laugh at their size difference but they both love it... spy can be just as Strong and Secure-feeling as heavy can and heavy loves the contact... spy will put on tea for them and let heavy prepare it (doing things with his hands helps calm him; plus the smell of the tea and the steam does too) and holds him... i also think heavy can be a sleeps when he's upset kind of person and spy holds him the entire time, sometimes reads to him (heavy will ask questions about the book and spy will patiently answer and heavy will sigh in content at spy's voice and the literature itself)... i think heavy and spy are mercs that know each other's pain without having to say it (it's long-term and Always Present ykwim) so they don't often "need to talk about what's wrong", they're just always happy to be there for each other!

10. If your otp had met at a different point in time/their lives, what would change? Would they still end up together?

this is actually interesting to think about for both ships!! i love thinking about medic bringing out some Mischief in sniper and that they'd probably both have gotten along really well at any time, having the same "both weird kids who were totally rejected by everyone else so they found love in each other" kind of way! but how they'd fall in love i think would be varied. i can also see them having a Casual Sexual Tumble and then developing feelings afterwards, i can see them Pining and Slow-Burning, i can see them being friends with benefits... very flexible ship in how you can ship them! with spy and heavy i think yeah, they'd be compatible no matter when or where. they're both flexible and emotionally mature enough that i think they could work wherever/however! and they've been Saddled with feelings of Duty (VERY different than medic and sniper's "married to the job"; i could make a whole post about this sldkj) for a Very Long Time (spy's Stubbornness with opening up might create a bit of a problem..!), but i think they could ultimately work together no matter what!

going to preface this with saying that i think making the mercs homophobic sucks and i do not subscribe to that idea. gay people existed at literally any and all times in history and In My Mind they are all very accepting of one another no matter what. anyway!

bushmed: hmm well if they get together post-comics, sniper's parents are already dead :( but i think if they were living, well.,,. i think sniper Obviously cares about what his parents think and i think that he'd want medic to meet them eventually, even though he'd be SO nervous about it! but i think medic would be sensitive to that and would be on his best behavior for his beloved bushman! he can't relate to sniper's desperation to please his parents, but it's definitely something he would be understanding of. he'd never make sniper feel guilty (or feel guilty himself) for sniper "hiding" medic from his parents. whatever makes sniper feel safer and happier, medic is more than happy to oblige! and i don't think he'd cut medic off just because/if his parents disapproved, though! with medic, he literally does not care what anyone thinks: if they have a problem with he and sniper, they can look forward to a jolly knock in the mouth! medic's parents are long since passed and even if they were around he wouldn't take any bs from them! spoovy: both of them value their families greatly and their family's opinions! scout's mom (and scout.. after their relationship starts being on the upswing) is everything to spy and always will be. i think she and spy have a very Cool relationship and she knows about heavy (and spy talked to her about him before they began dating) and heavy knows about her. heavy and spy are polite and easy-going with others so worrying about family approval doesn't concern them; as long as heavy is happy, heavy's mom and sisters are happy too! they might playfully threaten spy should he break heavy's heart, but they all have a good sense of humor about it! i don't think it would ever come to the point where they'd have to cut people off over it. heavy bonds with scout more when they start dating and finds it to b very easy. everyone likes being in heavy's company! sometimes if spy and scout are Snarking at each other, heavy will come in and place a giant hand on both of their shoulders and say something like "scout. spy. there is no time for this." with a dismissive/subject changing statement like "dinner is ready", "engineer is waiting in the car" etc. nobody wants to argue with heavy so they're both like "thank you, mikhail (spy)" and "thanks big guy (scout)". heavy's the king of diffusing Bad Vibes! SKDFKSDF
