i understand he's often got prominent roles in more controversial media (ie his debut 06) and its fine to not like or even hate him but why do people get mad at others for liking silver?

while he IS heavily featured in poorly written/executed stuff, he's also typically one of the good aspects of those poor things. if he weren't in 06, it would probably be even less popular than it currently is (although i think it's reaching a small resurgance in fans). admittedly, i can't say anything about forces (other than him dropping the hardest line in the whole game) and while people are devisive on idw, he does typically feature in spin offs or the arc that everyone agreed was Good. uhhh also i cant say about archie because i havent read it lol

but even if he was just a poorly written guy with no redeeming qualities, i don't understand why you need to get mad at people for it??? like. i used to DESPISE starline but i wouldnt get upset when people would get horny over him or something? critiquing a character's writing flaws is fine. bashing a character just because you don't like them is kinda annoying for fans, but ultimately fine. but what does anyone have to gain from you getting pissy because someone likes a cartoon hedgehog?

i know it's sort of a huge meme that sonic fans don't care about quality if there was potential, but strip him down to his most basic traits: somewhat rude and bossy but means well; time traveller from the future who aims to fix the past; heavily determined to do the right thing, although sometimes led astray by his own naïvety. if you remove the time traveller part, that could literally just be a description of knuckles, ie one of the most beloved characters in the whole cast. people will like a poorly written character if they have likable traits! in fact, people will even like a poorly written character if they have dislikable traits! why not silver?

Ok so first of all, we can be delulu yknow?? Everything will be resolved somehow and no one is going to the PM! Everyone is happy. I mean doesn't Asagiri always pull the least expected thing??

Second of all: no one is happy let's break it down member by member

Yosano: she ain't going.

Kenji: ok yknow what? I think the PM could benefit from his powers, and innocent personality! But aside from that, Kenji isn't really focused on, so the chance of this might be low, but still, reasonable.

Tanizaki: OKAY I saw someone else say this and I AGREE! Ofc it's the same thing with Kenji, it would be random asf for him to be the big sacrifice but! Tanizaki managed to trick the PM a few times with his ability! So this would make a lot of sense! I think the chance of this is higher honestly.

Kyouka: Ufff, guys idk... I mean she was in the PM not too long ago and she's focused on a good amount... This would make sense, knowing that Atsushi can't just steal her away anymore but... for a loooot of time, in the beginning of BSD, it was a whole back and forth thing with Kyouka getting to the PM, then escaping, then getting back, then escaping. So not only would the series fall back to that again, the PM might've just given up. Still, I feel like this has a 50/50 chance of happening, depending which way Asagiri wants to go.

Kunikida: As much as I don't want it happening, it might just happen.. I can't really say much about this one. Kunikida is smart, organised and loyal to the ADA and would die for them. But then again, he wouldn't stray away from his ideals and go off killing people and torturing them. I don't think this has a high chance of happening, I mean there's still a reasonable chance, but, it would be hard to work with him yk?

Atsushi: honestly, aint no way. I mean yes, the first major thing in the series was about the PM trying to catch Atsushi for money! But then again the relationship with the PM (mainly Aku) changed drastically for him! The guild isn't offering money to the PM for atsushi anymore, and Aku and Atsushi work together anyway! And mainly since he's the main character, I don't think he's going to have his POVs in the PM, since I think the ADA is going to get more focused on, and his relationship with Aku. NOT TO MENTION the fact that Dazai would DEFINITELY get him out of there bc??? His mentor?? Going down on the same path as him? Also as Aku? Killing people and basically becoming the person he promised Oda not to be anymore?? Aint no way.

Ranpo: Yeah... i could see it. But then again I don't. Because yeah it's reasonable for the PM to choose him, and since Ranpo is being focused on a lot currently, and it would really impact his story - Ranpo is then again a smart-ass brat who wouldn't even use his "ability" in the PM, especially since it's more helpful for detective work and not mafia work. So I have no clue about this one honestly, It would be interesting character arc but how would that like... work?

And lastly..

Dazai: Ah god, I wrote him last bc I don't know what to say! I mean most people I've seen guessed it was him going. And honestly? Fucking reasonable! Like why WOULDNT Mori pick Dazai? Like yeaaah he's scared of him, but throughout the series he asked Dazai a lot of times if he would come back! It would make a lot of sense! Especially since Dazai became older and wiser. Honestly the only big thing that's holding be back from actually betting on Dazai is that... would asagiri really put him back there? Right now? I mean, look, guy was in jail this entire time, barely goes back to the agency and boom, back to the PM. I think Dazai is going to be again crucial for this new arc, especially in Atsushi's character! I think, writing wise, Dazai shouldn't go back. But then again it's the most logical thing! I have so many thoughts about this.

i've previously made a ramble about how 'steves ending' upset me and how i felt like it was just not really fitting to his character, and i've recently (and i mean i literally just paused it midcredits to write this) watched winter soldier for the first time, and i cannot FATHOM how correct i was but also HOW MUCH WORSE it all was and i didnt know.

first off, i did not like the fact that in endgame he ended up getting with peggy, it was upsetting to me because i had watched civil war and felt it was a very confusing decision, because in civil war he decides to discard everything he has so far built with tony and the other people, (and at some point, somewhat also natasha) for the sake of bucky, which is in my opinion was frankly fucking insane, but nevertheless he still did it, everything just for bucky.

another part in civil war that frankly bothered me a bit, was peggys death, now thinking about it i would have thought it was going to be an end of an era for steves character, (but i watched the movies heavily out of order so i am only now thinking about that) peggy dying would have made perfect sense for steve to finally move on, even if he got with the sharon lady (which was peggys niece iirc) which personally i wouldnt particularly count as 'getting over' peggy if he was going for direct family but i mean anything counted at that point

so why is it that after everything that happened, that speech at peggys funeral clearly meaning something to steve which made him decide to go for bucky - literally all go to shit? he decided to risk everything for him, to finally have him back in his life, especially with the fact that the speech and everything happy at PEGGYS funeral, his literal prior(?) love interest, it made like.. complete sense for it to be a form of moving on romantically of all things, and take the risk to go after for the next most important person to him.

end of civil war comes, he defends bucky through and through even though tony (sort of) was rightfully upset, and was almost completely and willing to kill tony stark to save bucky, and he sure as hell did a number on him anyways, knowing that entire fight was definitely going to cause the large fallout between them, without even knowing if bucky was going to stick around, (which spoiler alert, he didnt! .. for his own reasons, that i cannot blame).

infinity war happens, he finally gets back to bucky after their separation and after his life sorta crumbled a bit because he was literally a fugitive, they fight together than, for the billionth time, he loses bucky, but this time to the snap. the past two times they were separated was due to a choice made by bucky, (first time.. was not) so if he was torn out of his hands again just like in captain america's first movie, the most understandable response is that he wanted to get him back, he of course was not happy he lost bucky, or anybody at that matter.

endgame happens, and near the end they finally get their chance to be back together, same with everybody else. see i know steve clearly struggled to get over people, or anything as a whole - knowing how stuck on he was on peggy, so his actions throughout civil war and further on sort of made sense since bucky was finally back in his grasp after losing him brutally originally, so .. why is it, that he managed to get over him so easily suddenly at the end of the endgame and went back to be with peggy?

i can tell now that he seemingly never got over peggy, which really makes still no sense because it felt like a finality of that arc in civil war, but nevertheless.. he still did go back to her, willingly losing absolutely everything he had now, after fighting tooth and nail to get bucky back, after being so willing to let the winter soldier KILL him, saying "cause im with you till the end of the line", and then completely disregarding that writing and making him do exactly the opposite, he was with him in civil war, and after that, so when he finally had his chance to actually exist with him in a form of peace.. he let that all ago.

also i believe the entire idea of steve going back makes no sense, it feels like a very giant plot hole, because i dont understand how him going back had no repercussions on the future? i genuinely cannot even understand why he ended up at the last part in endgame either, because seemingly it meant he was always in their world?? which what???? i dont know but it felt like a very forced ending.

and frankly, shows how just weirdly scared they are of making characters have a queer dynamic, it wouldnt feel like 'forced diversity' when their dynamic was so self sacrificial and clearly a bond that preceded friendship (in my fine ol' opinion), they could have done absolutely anything to make captain america have a fulfilling ending, like simply retiring, but they didn't, which again i just dont get and really think it messed up the timelines on stuff.

11. is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? why?

I can't really think of any off the top of my head but two close answers:

i don't understand the hatred towards jordan todd. at all. not because i like her but because i truly can't imagine feeling that strongly about a character who was in eight episodes. i also really liked her inclusion for how it reminded the audience "hey the BAU is Not Normal. they are largely desensitized to the things they see (not that they're unaffected, not at all, but they deal). here's how a normal person would react." i'll probably write a whole thing about it when i get to her introduction but i think her character served a really good purpose

nathan harris. he's not hated or even disliked, but a lot of the fic about him has him coming back as an unsub (not that that isn't a compelling and plausible premise!) but i like to think that nathan goes on to lead a relatively normal life. a lot of the time, especially when it comes to the more sympathetic unsubs, the audience and the characters are thinking "if only someone had intervened before it got to this point..." and nathan is a little underutilized in fic as an example of that intervention succeeding, if that makes sense? i also really like his character for how he put reid into a role he doesn't get often, as the one providing guidance and support for a younger character. if nathan came back as an unsub, that would just put reid into the victim role, which he is unfortunately very familiar with. i just think his dynamic with reid as it is in the episode is far more interesting than him becoming a killer. (again: i have no problem with those fics. ive read several! im not complaining about their presence, just the lack of the opposite, if that makes sense?)

i know this is a very basic and unsurprising opinion in the cm fandom but i really wish we'd gotten a real addiction arc for reid. he just kind of...stops using offscreen? it felt a little like the writers realised they had no idea how to write a character dealing with opioid addiction and just went "nvm he's better now <3" it just felt very noncommittal and underwhelming.

this is dark, but i would especially have loved to see reid hitting rock bottom. there are only so many option for that that wouldnt make him keeping his job...highly unrealistic, but one that comes to mind is him going on a full-on bender. i think that specifically could have really worked because they would still be able to relegate most of his drug use to the implied/offscreen, both for the purpose of time (because the A-plot is always the case) and to avoid getting too graphic with it, which i think may have been a concern.

now im specifically picturing an episode starting with reid picking up the phone to hotch telling him they have a case. he doesnt look Well, and when he hangs up, we get a wide shot of where he is and it becomes obvious what happened the night/weekend before. maybe it becomes apparent he doesn't even remember most of it. i think that would really fuck with him—it would fuck with anyone, but especially reid. that would be a good opportunity for ethan, too. he implied he had a problem with alcohol in 2x18 and i would have liked to see him help as someone who Got It at least a little bit.

honestly just his whole arc being a pretty blatant abuse/depression metaphor combined with like. some of the most realistic disabled writing ive seen in fantasy. like i remember reading dunmeshi for the first time and pogging about seeing a character with ptosis because i NEVER see that shit outside of my own ocs and also some of the stuff discussed about him like. having a weird sense of direction (which is partially bc of dungeon lord business but also iirc he is stated to have weird walking/gesture patterns so!) and not really being aware of his own energy or triggers.... like it hits very close to home for me as a chronically fatigued guy with bad balance and bad eyesight and its just really nice to see someone like me portrayed in like. a way which doesnt exaggerate mithrun's disability as laughable or tragic in a very unsympathetic way. like the way the canaries accommodate him and the way his arc finishes up (+ the little chats he has with marcille....) i think its very sweet very comforting. ive just been very into him recently after like. coming to terms with being abused by an ex and going through the whole rollercoaster of emotions that comes with that. like. ughhh. i saw this thread recently and it keeps swimming around in my mind. its good

why heinkel hates reinhard but still replaces reinhard with schult: speculation + analysis

i may have written too many words of anime fanfic about them but im gonna talk about this completely unprompted anyway. 👍 i was in an essay writing mood again.

so. basically. we all know heinkel hates reinhard’s guts and is overall an abusive father. but heinkel STILL replaces reinhard with schult. why would he do that if he hates reinhard so much, given how similar schult is both visually and personality-wise to reinhard? and when you pair it with the fact that heinkel USED to love reinhard, it gets more complicated. of course theres the fact that theresias death and wilhelm deciding to blame reinhard for it caused this landslide effect when it comes to heinkel and reinhard’s relationship, but we ALSO know heinkel actually defended reinhard at first. heinkel DEFENDED reinhard from wilhelm when wilhelm blamed reinhard for theresia’s death. but of course, we all know how well heinkel and reinhard’s relationship turns out later. but why? we know the core trauma that triggered it all (theresia’s death and wilhelm’s response to it) but it still doesn’t entirely explain everything until you look deeper.

i think the answer is actually that heinkel separates reinhard into two parts—reinhard the person, and reinhard the sword saint.

reinhard the sword saint becoming the sword saint helped caused theresia’s death. reinhard the sword saint killed theresia. reinhard the sword saint publicly defeated heinkel in a duel (we dont know the specific circumstances of this duel but we do know that public perception of heinkel was ALREADY bad even before the present day and losing a duel to your five year old son does not help matters). reinhard the sword saint saves the day, is regaled as a hero with the van Astrea name, while all these rumors going around about heinkel crushes him on top of the fact that his only support system (his wife) is gone with no cure for her condition in sight. along with the fact that his son Seemingly killed his mother. and this is AFTER the fact that heinkel begs theresia to go on the white whale mission in his stead. meaning that heinkel ALSO helped theresia to her death. and then reinhard the sword saint swoops in to be the kingdom’s beloved hero while failing to fix Any of these issues. reinhard the sword saint is a monster to heinkel, especially when you remember that reinhard kills theresia Again in front of heinkel at the end of arc 5.

reinhard the person, however, is different. reinhard the person is the son that heinkel knew—the son he loved dearly. thats why schult as a replacement is the perfect choice. schult’s a young kid with a resemblance to a younger reinhard and a similar timid personality. on top of that, schult is normal. schult doesnt have any world-ending, mind-bending superpowers that affect Everything about him. schult is everything that heinkel missed about reinhard Without any of the baggage. Without anything that makes reinhard difficult to love now. heinkel even says it himself:

kids should stick to being kids, instead of going off and becoming a hero that betrays you. because i think that heinkel thinks that being the sword saint warped reinhard. why wouldnt it, when the whole situation where reinhard Gained the sword saint dp is theresia’s death? the innocent little kid that he had as a son is gone in his eyes. and it’s just a monster that’s left. he Misses reinhard the person—reinhard, his son—but he loathes reinhard the sword saint, who seemingly destroyed everything they had. and i think this especially shows when you remember that heinkel 99% of the time says the sword saint instead of reinhard’s name.

this division that heinkel likely has about Past Reinhard and Present Reinhard also has to be what caused heinkel to go from a very loving father to a very abusive one. why is it now easy for him to be so cruel to someone he doted on whenever he could? it’s because to him, that person became a Monster. reinhard betrayed him, from his point of view, over and over again. theresia’s first death. the duel he and reinhard had. and then theresia’s second death. theres a chance even, that heinkel’s anger towards present reinhard may also partially be because present reinhard stole past reinhard from him. to heinkel, the only thing of reinhard left is the sword saint.

and schult being heinkel’s replacement for reinhard does show that heinkel misses reinhard. you wouldnt need a Replacement for someone unless theres a void that needs to be filled. and heinkel’s choice of replacement specifically says a lot about him and his relationship with reinhard.

wilhelm’s choice of replacement also says a lot about him. but that’s for another essay akdndndn

thanks for answering. Yeah im aware that they were talking about two different things in The Purge episode and Dean hearing something different than what Sam meant. I thought you disliked the characterisation of Sam, that's why i asked. The part of Dean going "thought you were ok with me (dying)" and Sam going "i lied" as if that was what he meant in The Purge– that i understand why youd hate that. I do too, though i also get why Sam wouldnt argue with it in that moment. And its also kinda.. So Dean to use (even unconsciously) the fact that hes hurt and Sam panicking to make Sam agree with Deans meaning/make him twist his own words/basically redeem Dean of his mistakes. But yeah, the most infuriating part is how the show kinda glosses over these moments and makes it hard to like, think about it and understand, for a casual viewing, so the fandoms misunderstanding about those parts makes sense and is definitely a writing issue. At the end of the day, on one hand it makes sense to me that Sam internalizes Deans guilttripping, and struggling with his own beliefs, considering he already internalizes Deans thoughtless comments + his already existing issues with guilt, but on the other hand, youre right, the writing doesn't explore it/dissect it enough and frames it very badly sometimes. Not always, but often enough to cause inconsistency and misunderstandings. Anyway, like i said, i thought you just disagreed with Sams choices in s9, and i usually agree with your opinions which is why i asked and added this much context (and did it again rn because i also dont wanna be misunderstood). So thank you for clearing it up and sorry for rambling on again

also for the record I don’t dislike a single bit of sam’s characterization throughout the entirety of the 15 seasons; it is literally all fascinating and sympathetic to me and I’m in love with him the whole way through. any criticisms I make abt his arcs are guaranteed to be specific to how his actions are framed by the writers and abt the miles and miles of missed potential in terms of his trauma and his feelings abt dean, etc, especially compared to dean’s treatment by the same writers.

and btw it wasn’t even just this moment in “do you believe in miracles?” though that pisses me off tremendously on its own. there’s also at least one other moment in s10 - I think in “the werther project” dean goes “I thought you didn’t care about me” or something along those lines and sam goes “come on, I told you I didn’t mean that.” like they very much did double and triple down on this poor writing choice post-s9. it is an insultingly shallow summation of the gadreel issue, which I consider to be one of the worst (complimentary) samndean conflicts in the entire series, absolutely laden with narrative potential, which makes its limp conclusion extra disappointing to me.

ppl here are stressed or worried about mike's sexuality meanwhile I am more worried about other things. at the end of the day, mike's sexuality could just stay as 'unlabelled', he'd just be portrayed as 'queer' overall and it'd be fine in itself.

but there's other topics that i am worried about;

1- max's coma situation, she's now portrayed as brain dead. and i worry abt how its gonna handled. maybe an unpopular opinion, but i wouldn't like it if max is brought back and then is completely healed without having permanent damage on her body. it's a hard topic to be addressed and I'm worried how it's gonna appear.

2- lucas and erica's storylines, some scenes in S4 were too much triggering, but i have little to no hope that they will be addressed. and i am not sure if the writers learned or realized the writing in that and how it came off as... so idk.

3- dustin's whole eddie grief situation. i get that the duffers intended to give dustin a more personal loss and depression/grief, but i wouldn't want it to be dustin's whole story arc or a major story focus for him.

4- will's whole character, he has too much under addressed issues from s1 due to his upside down experiences, or his possession (which was f-ed up), his internalized homophobia, overall i am not sure how they're gonna deal with all of that esp his supernatural plot.

5- i wouldnt want jncy to be underwhelming, but i am not sure if the duffers are gonna continue teasing stncy or not. i think it is very reductive to jon and nancy's characters and relationship, as well as unnecessary to steve's own character.

I don't care too tbh I am just saying what I think is happening when I talk about Mike being bi, I'm not saying it because I like it more, it's just how I interpreted stuff in the show but he could be gay too and I would be happy if he ends up with Will and is happy at the end of the show and I'm repeating this same thing since day one... the only annoying thing to me is constantly having people tell me that I'm making drama just because I'm sharing an opinion or a theory about bi Mike... the tag is for ALL of us not only gay mike believers 😅

2) sadly I agree with you on this, I'm not sure they will handle Lucas and Erica as well as they should... I can only hope they have listened to the feedback online, they are usually open to criticism and they are open to listen to the input of others so I hope they will do the same for this matter

3) I think Dustin is going to want revenge for Eddie, maybe? I'm not sure but I think they have to focus on that because what Dustin lived through marked him forever sadly :(

4) I have faith they will deal with that in a good way because they are building Will's character arc since before season 1 even started!

5) I personally right now think Jonathan is probably dying in s5 so Idk what to think about Nancy's finale... I think jancy is going to end in tragedy but I really hope not and I hope that even if jancy doesn't happen she just focuses on her career after and not Steve...

@cluelessbees told me a nice idea about Steve's arc for s5, basically the ides is that he's going to focus on his platonic relationships next season and be a support for Dustin's arc and Robin's and maybe he's going to feel guilty because if he went with Max instead of going with Nancy (because he likes her) maybe things would be different now, if he had accepted being the babysitter maybe Max wouldn't be in a coma?

the thing is. there is so much potential. if it was just a bad show i wouldnt care but the problem is it could have been such a good show <////3 i love every character and the plot lines were ALMOST there every time and it could have been so good i could fix this fucking show hhghghjghhjghgmhgjhjg

like right off the bat theres all the shit with the proposals that i LOVE. i love eugene and rapunzel both trying to propose to each other like 5 times but neither of them could ever get the timing right <333 but the problem comes in with. literally everything surrounding it. the idea that the marriage would trap them pisses me off bc at first i assumed it would be like. they eventually realize that marriage isnt a trap and its not the end of their lives. but thats not what happened. instead it was like "yeah the marriage is us accepting that our adventures are over and we're settling down" ?????????????? and everything chris said always makes me think like. can someone please check on his wife oh my god

THEN we've got varian. literally such a great character, his villain arc is the best arc of the whole show !!! but!! then it was over. honestly i think that varian was one of the characters that made it out relatively unscathed with no stupid choices for his character. but even then thats mostly because he just kinda got ignored after season 1. he didnt show up at all in season 2 except in a hallucination, and im not THAT mad about it bc obv they werent in corona so its not like there was really any place for him but like. please. anyways he got a quick redemption arc in season 3 but the worst part of that was that it was a little rushed so he made it out ok. but the problem comes in with the fact that chris got pissed off that everyone wanted to talk about varian so he refused to give varian anything interesting to do overall. but the problem is that there were already seeds planted earlier in the show to give him more to do (like everything with quirin and the letter) that got dropped bc they didnt want to deal with it

and CASS. oh my god. ive talked about her villain arc a hundred times because it makes me so fucking insane. it could have been so good. like you can go back to pretty much the first episode in season 1 and see cracks starting to form in her & rapunzel's friendship and there was soooo much to work with. but. "gothic was my mom but she kidnapped and abused you instead so you stole my destiny" what the fuck are you talking about. talk about being overshadowed! talk about being forgotten and never taken seriously!! talk about ANYTHING that youve already been upset about in the show!!!!!! what the fuck!!!!!!

and then fucking. the dark kingdom stuff at the end of season 2 with eugene:( :( :( i was a little excited for the dark prince stuff bc ! it could be fun!!! he found out that hes the prince of a dead kingdom and his mother died because of the stone thats the opposite of rapunzel! there was sooooo much there that just got forgotten :( we never even found out how the queen died or her fucking NAME. why did we abandon all the dark kingdom lore at the end of season 2 :(((( i love the dark kingdom its such a fun concept and i want more of it but like. go girl give us nothing ig. the kingdom got completely abandoned and forgotten about within 25 years! lets talk about that!!!!! fuck lets acknowledge ANYTHING about dark prince eugene !!!! and on that note i wish they had done a little more with the fact that edmund had been protecting the moonstone for his entire life just for someone to take it and leave and now his life's purpose means NOTHING.

also it pisses me off that season 3 became The Cass and Rapunzel Show. there were so many other characters with problems but everything else was ignored bc look! cass and rapunzel!!! like can we PLEASE focus on anything else for like 5 seconds.... why was the finale entirely just cass and rapunzel's fight :( everyone was dead on the ground and it was "and now cass and rapunzel are gonna spend 3 seconds handling it" like please..... you have a beautiful cast of characters that want to affect the plot so badly let them help

as a rapunzel fan i think that one thing that annoys me a lot about the show is that. rapunzel can never be wrong. i get that shes a disney princess and its a disney show so they cant make her TOO bad but like,,, all her weaknesses are the shit you say in a job interview. "shes too nice" "shes too upbeat" "she trusts people to much" i wish she had actual problems. like she tends to accidentally be selfish and focus on how she feels without thinking about how it affects other people!!! thats something they could have thought about more instead of making her always right about everything. and the fucking episode on season 3 where eugene says "cass abandoned you you need to let her go" then she goes back in time and changes his past and then hes like "yeah you shouldnt leave cass behind!" NO HE WAS RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. cass literally took the moonstone and left she doesnt want to come back why is the lesson here that rapunzel shouldnt let her go

and oh my god. lance im so sorry for what they did to you. he is SUCH a fun character i love him so much he should have had so much to do but NO he gets one lance-centric episode and a few lance-and-eugene-centric episodes in season 1. then he never gets focus ever again. he gets the moment in the season 2 finale where he starts fighting the ghosts (and i love him so much i love that moment) and then he never affects the plot again. hes so fun because he and eugene have basically the same backstory except lance never had The Moment where he chose to give it up so its so fun to see his approach to just. everything in the show. but we never get to see him!! he gets ignored and shoved to the side so that there can be more hookfoot centric episodes. i will forever stand by the fact that theres something about hookfoot could've been a lance episode. ALSO ALSO ALSO the episode that was pitched with the broken window at the orphanage :( :( :( :( :( i mourn it every single day i wish it had happened. he doesnt get taken seriously as a character even though they had sooooo many opportunities to! then i literally love that he adopts kiera and catalina at the end but. it doesnt get any focus. we dont get to see him getting closer to them (okay we get a little bit of it but STILL there should've been more) so it feels so unearned. i love their little family so much but give me MORE. NOW.

okay im gonna stop now but i have so many thoughts about this show i could fucking fix it. there is so much potential and i love every character so much and i love the version of the plot lines that only exist in my head

I think as well is that (not at all to diminish dreams writing or contributions) but I think cdream doesn't really have much motives beyond doing evil shit cause like.... Most people weren't willing to step into the role, and dream was one of like four people who were willing to be a villain who's character didn't die immediately (and the only one willing to be the bbeg). Like, cdream kinda turned into blank slate bad guy so others could write their own stories off of. I kinda think that's what made the newer guys so upset as well when dream specifically wouldnt rp with them. They want the fame of dream of course but like... Everybody hinged their character off of one dude, cause no one else wanted to be an evil little bastard.

like i think c!techno was a really excellent chaotic neutral villain. he said he stood for things but in practice often just didn't. his own personal amusement took precedence as often would in a roleplay server. c!Tommy was very chaotic too flipping from good to evil depending on that characters pov of him.

c!Wilbur was a very good villain but the redemption arc flopped. The ending was my personal victory showing c!Wilbur is still scum and still and was ruining the lives of everyone around him and had to leave.

I also think c!Dream's motives changed because playing the antagonist who wanted to own the whole server could only work well with everyone online all the time. Las Nevadas was an empty shell with like three people in it. Kinoko had c!Karl forgetting everyone, c!George asleep in some random forest 99% of the time, and Sapnap is completely uninterested in doing anything character and CC wise. Cause the fans sucked. I don't even blame the streamers I blame the fans. They made people not want to log in and that's why the server died

It's why c!Dream's motives legit did change never understood the argument they were the same from the start cause they never were. And he had to make do with the revive book which again no point in killing and reviving people who won't log on. And then everyone proved to be a clout seeking leech and Dream was so much better off letting the final scene of the dsmp be disc duo happy ending.

Bentinck doesn't cry about this because he thinks he's fulfilling his purpose.

Probably rambling, but here are some more reasons why I don’t (romantically) vibe with MHA’s Shoto Todoroki/Momo Yaoyorozu. Whenever the pair are painted in such a light, Todoroki’s needs are highlighted more while Yaomomo’s are often overlooked (as if her needs aren’t as important). A more realistic/plausible take would mean that neither of them are truly happy being in a relationship with each other. Which would lead them to seek their (non-material/financial) needs elsewhere. Also, I’m not fond of the fact that both Todoroki and Yaomomo are pretty watered down when romantically paired together (character-wise). Any problems they may potentially have are often swept under the rug (notwithstanding Todoroki’s difficult past). The combo of OOC (out of character) and sheer sexism are some of the major turn offs for me.

Actually, thats a common problem with most ships, especially canon romantic ones. There is a reason why people are interested in so called 'platonic friendship' between others than actual romance because when it comes to romance, authors dont seem to put any effort in it. Especially because of 'power of friendship' thing in shounen and mangas, besties have more chemistry than actual romance. Why? Because they are their own characters first. Because whole series is about their relationship and their center arcs connected to each others BECAUSE they care about each others a lot.

For some partners, 'friends' (or even bros/sis) have lines that used in romance movies. (I didnt realize this until others point this out).

'Its always been you and me.' , 'If only i have you'.

Difference between that scene for so called friends and romantic scene? For 'friendship' or 'brotherhood/sisterhood' scene, its earned. Its not out of nowhere. It took a lot times them to get there. Its deep. Its so beautifully written to the point that it makes many readers question that those so called friends are actually in love with each others. And honestly, in most series, it is really questionable.

Well, while platonic relationships are exist and its completely natural to explore those platonic relationships too. People can love each others without any romantic feelings but we rarely get actually well written romance without basic rules. Thats why it feels empty and superficial. And most of the times, its really toxic. It feels simple crush. It feels like it happenned because boy and girl are in same scene. It doesnt feel impactfull enough because in the end, we all know that its not true love. Because love is about getting to know each others, it happens with trust and respect. It takes time and effort. It doesnt happen out of nowhere. Especially at writing, i think it should be explored.

Romance doesnt even need to happen but if you are gonna put it into your story but dont make any effort to write or actually explore it, then whats the point of writing it?

This is also what i think about todomomo too. I kinda explained it in here. They feel like classic shoujo manga dynamic but just like you said, anon, i think they both are/can be more than that.

Another reason why i think this happens is maybe because the idea of romance for them/media etc. Ships that naturally happen in story also works better than this. In real life, love that starts with friendship is the best, i mean if you cant even be friend with your partner, how can you even have healthy relationship with them? Let them interact first. Let it happen naturally. Let them have conflict. Let them try date. If it doesnt work, then it doesnt. Dont ruin your characters to make 'romance' work. (Because in life romance, most patners wouldnt want to date with someone who is 'in love' with their so called friends. Imagine, actually dating with brocon/siscon or some guy who would prefer their friends/or one specific friend over you, lol. Literally break up reason.)

WHY (VRISKA) IS THE BAD END TO VRISKAS ARC IN HOMESTUCK BY KRIS DREEMURR

for starters lets define what "bad ending" even means in this situation. i would argue (vriska) herself doesnt actually have a particularly bad ending. yeah she dies but she gets her own little happy ending in one of the most touching flashes in the entire comic.

in contrast, post-retcon vriska *is alive*, first and foremost, therefore shes not being forcibly drawn into irrelevance by her literal death. she *gets shit done*, going out of her way to scout around the B2 session, doing research, and putting together the plan. she doesnt HAVE to reunite with terezi because theyre already there together, and she gets to spend three whole largely uneventful years together where they get to be GENUINELY THE ONLY REAL HEALTHY MOIRALLEGIANCE IN THE ENTIRE COMIC.

she shapes up everyones lives on the meteor, she keeps rose from drinking, everyone literally admits that tho she can be a bitch, she at least is a helpful bitch who kept things from falling apart. nobody ever even points this out either! she spent three fucking years on that meteor being a functioning helpful member of the group and nobody ever bothers to acknowledge that when criticizing her. vriska haters refuse to admit there was a stretch of time where she just chilled and was a decent person.

because nobody wants to admit she maybe was actually a good person who just wasnt very nice. because that ties into the other major themes of homestuck: good people arent always nice, and nice people arent always good. vriska is example number 1 of the former. and her story doesnt end with her "opening a box to let OTHER PEOPLE save the day". regardless of what you think of the post-canon stuff, her story clearly continues.

and even if you only consider what happens in canon? it still doesnt end that way. because someone had to go get the weapon. someone had to go out there and stop him. she was literally prepared to do it entirely alone. because nobody else was going to. nobody else wanted to. they were happy to let her do the hard part. all by herself.

let me stress the importance of her going out there: if she had not gone out there, the entire rest of the groups attempts at fighting off condy and the two jacks would have been for nothing. all of it would have ended in failure if nobody had taken the weapon out there. like i cant stress this enough. the entire rest of the finale was literally them distracting the three beings that could have possibly made her job even harder. yes it also kept condy from getting her hands on the new universe but otherwise the two jacks were irrelevant. vriska going to fight lord english was the reason they were able to enter the door. they would not have been able to without her.

im not even exaggerating. she literally spells this out. (vriska) even spells this out! page 6053 when she does her monologue about being a hero. if nobody went out to stop him, he would keep coming. he would keep destroying worlds, even universes. they wouldnt be free from him on earth C. he would find a way to come after them. but thanks to her, and meenah, and even TAVROS, plus all the ghosts? hes done for.

and let me once again remind you: SHE WAS GOING TO GO THERE ALONE. SHE WAS WILLING TO BE THE ONLY ONE IN ALL OF EXISTENCE WHO WOULD ACTUALLY ATTEMPT TO STOP THE METAPHORICAL MOON. BECAUSE NOBODY ELSE CARED ENOUGH TO DO THE HARD THINGS.

i dont say things like "(vriska) is objectively the bad end for vriska" lightly. i dont use the term objectively lightly. i dont typically refer to things as objectively because im not an arbiter of that. but this? this is all *right there in the text*. its loud and clear. (vriska) is objectively the bad ending to vriskas arc because she shows what happens when you give up and accept irrelevance. you stop caring, and you die. or double die.

if you still cant understand why i say this after all of this im happy to answer questions but like: if you genuinely cant see it after all of that plus me expanding further and answering questions and clarifying things? then you didnt understand homestuck. sorry. hussie is pretty good at being subtle. vriskas arc and especially what happens with (vriska) isnt them being subtle. thats hussie spelling out exactly what they want to say. vriska serket is just a bitchier simon the digger. always pushing forwards, never giving up.
