Longpost Life Update!!

Queue is empty, haven't had much on the dash that I felt like putting in there lately!! It's probably time for a dash cleanup, unfollowing inactive blogs and such. That's something I will do on desktop soon!!

I've been spending my days sleeping and watching shows with my Beautiful Wife, sometimes playing games. Whenever I try to put my sleep schedule back to normal there's something I have to be up early for and it throws it all off again. Very frustrating. Things have been fairly uneventful otherwise! I'm still experiencing the heart thing, but as I have exhausted my healthcare possibilities and the conclusion was that it is psychological, I am simply dealing with it ._.

I have a meeting coming up to go over AISH paperwork before I submit anything, which is very exciting!! I will likely have to apply again since my social worker, doctor, and therapist have told me they almost always deny the first one. Medications and therapy are very expensive, and I'm still trying to find funding assistance for a proper wheelchair.

Monday I have an intake for community support groups/activities (I have to be up at 8AM which is hellish for me) and I hope to get into their art program!! I really want to spend more time making art, and I would love to meet some people and get out of the house more often.

I have lots of art projects in the works, and many of them require skills and materials I do not currently have, so I have plenty of work to do!! My current priority is finishing up a card for my Beautiful Wife and finally sending it to them!! My other projects are quite large and will require consulting with various people in my life on how to best approach and execute my visions :3

Choir starts up again in the fall and I am so excited to go back!! Weekly rehearsals gave me so much structure, and it's at night which works great for my sleep schedule!! We got a preview of our setlists at our director's dinner party last month. Most of them are good but there's a couple that are so bad they're funny and I really hope we can convince her to maybe put those ones back on the shelf >_<

I'm preparing to go on a trip in either December or May (depends on finances) to see my Beautiful Wife!! It will be my first time traveling on my own, so I have lots to sort out. My first hurdle is making a plan for the airport!! I have lots of people helping me, and I am so so so determined to make this happen!!!

Haven't been blogging much due to all of the above, but I am still here :3 A family friend is going through some mental health stuff right now, so my attention is primarily focused on that. Thanks for reading this wall of text, and for sticking around so long!! Hope you're all doing well 💕💕💕

The quality of the comic was much lower than the PLA comic I just did. No backgrounds, rushed line art.. uninspired house design.. eh. I just wasn't satisfied.

Slime Rancher fan art :D I've gotten back into the games again recently, like obsessively and I wanted to draw all of the slimes (all of them!!). I drew the lucky and glitch slimes in their secret style designs since it makes them stand out more from tabby and pink slimes respectively

So I've been talking about dolls alot on my doll account (which this technically should go to, but I want to post here instead). I just want to make a lil appreciation post about about my fav dolls right now.

I saw a couple new dolls recently that are gamer girls and I just want to highlight how many there are right now.

We have the roughly 11-12 inch dolls that are both gamer girls. I just saw the LOL one recently and wanted to highlight her and the RH/SH doll. They both have the cat headphones and some gamer accessories. Pinkie has a cute switch type handheld, while Ace has a gameboy-esque over-the-shoulder bag. I can't explain really, but Pinkie looks like a proper twitch streamer while Ace looks like an e-sports girlie. They cover both vibes of gamer girl in a nice way while still having similar elements.

We also have Ghoulia from the new g3 MH who is a gamer and skater. I love how she has a switch like handheld as well and in her secrets version she has a laptop and controller earrings. I know she also was a gamer in MH g1 too, but it wasn't as obvious in the dolls, her love for comics was more so (not a bad thing, just isn't what I'm currently highlighting). She doesn't really have strong vibes like the other 2 with how she is as a gamer except maybe being a fan of the "oldies"/old school gamer.

Next we have a true newcomer, she's a doll a part of a new up and coming doll line called Secret Findees Magic Mailbox. She's a tiny (2 inch) fairy type strawberry based gamer in a literal pink mailbox. She gives me massive v-tuber vibes (not negative of course) and feels like a true cozy gamer. I feel like she and I could play slime rancher together or somethin and we'd vibe great (or animal crossing).

Next we have these two lol dolls from the arcade cabinet line (series 1 and 2 respectively). These were the 2 super rare dolls in each series of the line. Two young arcade girlies just dressing up in power ranger type outfits hanging out with the boys. I will never stop loving the concept behind their line, literal arcade cabinets with the dollls, outfits, and accessories inside with a coin operating mechanic.

All in all these dolls each have a diff vibe while all fitting the aesthetic and terms of "gamers" and "gamer girls" and I love each and every one of them. Also I know I probably left some out, not on purpose I just can't remember a lot of them with proper set gamer stuff as a tag line sort of to them.

i've decided to start a new series where i interview my colleagues and other lesser-known writers of tumblr. in each stop of my virtual travels, the writer will pick the location and soundtrack for our conversation. this was a really good conversation with @mushroommanchanterelle, where we discussed a little bit about diversity and representation in the world of the disabled writer. join me below and get some insight about the fledgling brilliance our community has to offer!

“Steps of clear quartz ascend through inky void, the indigo darkness broken only by speckles of warm, yellow light. The staircase of near invisible steps seems to last an eternity, leading to a land mass afloat in the cold sea of stars. Now visible at the final step is a gate, tall and looming, made seemingly of ice cold cast iron. Through the bars, there are vast and rolling hills, colorful and bright. The gates open, revealing the landscape in full.

Taking steps in, the chill in the air is dulled by the warmth of the ground, radiating through the feet and permeating the soul. In place of grass, the ground is covered in the soft fabric of an enormous quilt, spreading as far as the eye can see. Barren trees dot the landscape, pillows settled at their roots, illuminating the landscape with jars of luminous moss tied to their branches by unknown creatures. Their yellow glow matches that of the stars above, giving off golden radiance only rivaled by the morning rays of fresh sunshine. The air smells of rain and fresh linen.”

where are we?

Ash: The Patchwork Fields.

can you explain what that is?

Ash: It's a place I go to in my head whenever I need to center myself. It's not a place in anything I've written, or at least not yet. The Patchwork Fields are supposed to be really calming. Like...being nestled under a blanket fort reading a book with a flashlight on a cold winters night. They're a series of floating islands amidst a night sky, with quartz steps acting as a pathway between them. that sounds nice.

i'm honored to be here with you today. do you think you could start by introducing yourself in whatever way you feel comfortable with? maybe saying any qualifiers or communities you identify with?

Ash: I'm really happy to be here with you today as well. My name is Ash, but my current screen name is mushroommanchanterelle. I'm a self taught artist, a writer, a poet, and am just a few months shy of having a bachelor's in English.

this is legitimately the first time i’m learning your name! what a delight. so we've been talking for some time now about your project Fault Lines. It's how i actually was first drawn to your work as an artist on tumblr. do you think you could talk a little bit about the premise? i know that's a hefty task for a writer.

Ash: Ah yeah. I always draw a blank whenever I'm asked about the premise. I'll do my best! Fault Lines is a fantasy novel that's been manhandled into science fantasy. It revolves around Magnus Experah, Ruth Pothec, Theodorre Ursana, and Advent Natura as they find their way through an energy crisis that's slowly shutting down their society.

i specifically wanted to talk about magnus as a character if you don't mind. i'm very fascinated my them and their development. i actually wanted to interview you first in this new series because you made a comment saying you were particularly attached to them because of wanting to write a depiction of a disability you both share. would you feel comfortable talking about that?

Ash: Right. Shortly after the main plot is announced, Magnus develops a condition known as PNES, or psychogenic non-epileptic seizures. It's a conversion disorder that causes seizures, as the name suggests. They're triggered by stress, and you're completely awake and aware when they happen, but because there isn't anything physically happening in the brain like an epileptic seizure, there isn't any medication that can help. It's managed through therapy and thought exercises. Of course, there's medication that can help things like anxiety that exacerbates the condition, but there isn't anything you can take for the seizures themselves.

i've done a little research into PNES, which i'm sure you have too. i'm sure it's probably as disheartening to read the statistics as it is for me when i research conditions i've been diagnosed with. from what i gathered it seems like a great example of an "invisible illness". i read that upwards of 40% of adult patients considered to have drug-resistent epilepsy actually suffer from it. can you share a little bit about your history with PNES?

Ash: I developed it in 2018 when I was attempting to work full time and go to school full time, but I had been having nervous ticks for years before then. I started having them every minute at first, and after a few months they started calming down to every few minutes, then every hour or so. Lately, they only happen when I'm out in public or doing something stressful at home. Loud noises, crowds, and some smells trigger them, so I have to be careful where I go. Through various treatments and therapy, I've managed to reduce them enough to where I no longer need a wheelchair, but I still can't be in areas with horns, alarms, yelling, etc.

so it's a common experience for artists with some form of born or hereditary neurodivergence to have that unique perspective alter the themes, motifs, and sometimes even color and shape of the work they do in the case of visual artists. there's the near word salad of philip k. dick in the midst of his bouts of psychosis, or the warped cats of louis wain after a head injury triggered schizophrenia. even, on a lesser scale, there is the way neurodivergence affected the works of poets sylvia plath, anne sexton, and even shel silverstein. do you think the same could be said about psychogenic illnesses? how much of your living with PNES can be seen in what you create - and the way you create?

Ash: I've definitely heard that before, and I've seen it in the work of some of my friends. Since I developed PNES I've been making an effort to make more of my characters live successfully with various disabilities, Magnus included. After having been bedridden and in a wheelchair for years, I pay more attention to mobility devices and their functions. I think there are other things going on in my life that affect my creations more than my PNES though.

can you tell me more?

Ash: It's a bit hard to explain. I put a piece of my soul into each character I write. I'm autistic, I have PTSD, and I have borderline personality disorder. As a result, some of my characters struggle with expressing themselves and understanding others, or are blunt and don't understand social cues. Some of them struggle with looking too deeply into patterns. A lot of them have struggles that pertain to black and white thinking, where they struggle to keep friends and loved ones around after big fights. I suppose the old saying that you "write what you know" is true in that extent. Characters are the thing I think I spend the most time on, and little pieces of who I am show in each and every person I write into existence. That isn't to say that I agree with all of their motives, or that all of them are self inserts. I just write from my own experiences and make characters the way I know how to feel and talk and see the world.

do you think as neurodivergent and disabled writers, we have a certain duty or obligation to fit representation into a standard of some kind? do you feel the need to label experiences in terms anyone can look up and understand, like by directly referring to a character as autistic, or would you rather just allow your experiences and perspective to exist through your work in a way that's left for anyone to interpret and relate to?

Ash: I've got a lot of thoughts on this one. I definitely don't think anyone has a single obligation to fit ANYTHING into a standard. Everyone's experience is different. Everyone solves problems a different way. I don't think that you HAVE to label your characters in any capacity if you don't want to. I think representation is important, and characters that are explicitly stated to be neurodivergent, disabled, queer, etc. need to exist in media of all types.

It's good to have labels on some characters for folks to learn about the different aspects of life that aren't heterosexual, cis, neurotypical, or able-bodied, and for the groups being represented to have someone to identify with, but I don't think that every character who displays characteristics of being neurodivergent or disabled or queer or any other group have to have a defined label. That being said, I don't tend to label my characters as anything unless it's going to be a core element of a story. Magnus has a PNES diagnosis in story because I've never seen PNES discussed in fiction, and that's something I want to see change, but other characters of mine aren't outright stated to have autism because that's not the focal point of their story.

has your perspective towards neurodivergence has shifted do to your age? i think we're both in our mid to late 20s – but then again, i didn't know your actual name until just now so i could be wrong. either way, is the sort of optimistic perspective of characters living successfully with disabilities (what you described earlier as your goal in Fault Lines) something you could've wrote in an earlier time in your life?

Ash: I'm in my mid 20s, yeah. My perspective towards neurodivergence has shifted after being diagnosed and treated properly. There was a time in my youth that I only wrote my neurodivergent characters suffering because that's what I was living with. I couldn't write what I'm writing today back then, because I was convinced that being neurodivergent and disabled was being doomed ot a life of misery and bitterness. However, with time and therapy and proper medications, I've experienced that you CAN live successfully with a disability, and that being neurodivergent isn't a sentence to being miserable your entire life. I now write stories about successfully living with disabilities in my mid 20s because I could have benefited from reading those stories when I was young and getting my first diagnosis.

i like that. if you could see that person in your mind, who only saw their conditions as a sort of curse or sin, what would you say to them?

Ash: I'd give them a hug and tell them that it gets better. Once you're in control of your own life and medical choices, it gets better. Once you can get help without being afraid of what you have to say, life opens up and the clouds part and you're HAPPY.

beautiful. so that's all of the questions i have, and i think that's a great bow to kind of tie all of this together. do you think you could take this time to share some of your hopes in joining the community here on tumblr? maybe say how people here can best support you?

Ash: Thank you very much for interviewing me. I think I'm just grateful to have a place where we can collectively share our thoughts on writing. It's like...a really big refrigerator that we can pin our work up proudly for other people to see. There are so many creative stories and styles and characters that are all collected in one tag and I think that's wonderful. I hope to be able to add to that collective wealth of literature one day along side the rest of you.

March 2023 - Hal Monitor (Humanized) and SMG3 on a Unicycle

I was honestly surprised on never seeing one of my favorite characters have a human design, so I did one myself and would like to imagine that he has somewhat of a cherry brunette look to him. Oh and uh for what he is wearing it's an actual monitor, or you could call it a visor. I based that off of Future!Tom from the Eddsworld movie/special). In the other artwork, it was a request from James himself on Twitter that he wanted SMG3 on a unicycle. Fans provided and someone I know has been recognized which I am proud of them for. But yeah, I made this for the funny and I mean, who else can help the purple man besides Eggdog?

June 2023 - Life is But A Dream and Gothic Hunter SMG3

So I added horror elements to the TV and I wanted to add a creepy scenario of it. I think if I recall, this was before or after the events on when the TV showed up during the Wild West special. But I forgot since it's been awhile. This piece I went all out with my shading and wanted to experiment dramatic effect. Which was nice. Now for the Gothic Demon Hunter, SMG3? This is an AU that I still have yet to make. The AU is called "The Last Moon", it's about a hunter that hunts down demons but in space. So practically, the Meme Guardians that take place in here are not Meme Guardians, but they do have an interesting past. I won't reveal much but more shall come once the story releases. (If I ever have the motivation...)

May 2023 - SMG4's Birthday x Slime Rancher 2 Crossover

Final piece of the day is something that I planned months for and worked about 2-3 weeks in advance. This was an art piece that I've made special for Luke. It was a painting as well as appreciation and gratitude for all the things that he has done during my childhood. He brought me laughs, joy, and something to smile for. And even if I didn't personally know the guy, his content as well as his team meant a lot to me. I was there during his first video and seeing how much his channel grew, left a soft spot in my heart. It taught me so many things. He also inspired me to keep going as a fellow artist and fan and that is something that I will truly cherish. I have so much to thank him for. It may have been unfortunate that he wasn't able to see my artwork on Twitter, but it didn't bother me in the end. I know that he can be a busy guy and there are other amazing people out there doing the same for him and the team. Personally, what really matters is that I least made many fans smile with what I create and that itself is good enough for me. ❤️

Chiel is a timid but aspiring slime. While she's never been the best at small talk, she's been making a commitment to step outside of her comfort zone and be more social with others. Being a puddle slime at heart certainly makes it a challenge, but for what it's worth, she's doing better than she used to! Her shyness can be measured by how close to the ground she is, as she tends to sink to it the stronger the emotion is. At full confidence (which is more likely during the nighttime), or whenever she needs to, she picks herself off the floor and rises to her true height. Being shy is what Chiel is known for, but she's also analytical, visionary, and above all, empathetic.

Chiel's dream is to become a botanist and geologist, studying the biochemical properties of plants and the intricacies of the moon itself. But she has a long way to go before she can make that happen, so for now, she remains an assistant in an unrelated scientific field.

yknow what why dont i just put out my terraria build ideas that i havent quite gotten to (or some that ive gotten to a bit) out there?

so. ofc theres gonna be new furniture sets in 1.4.5, and i def wanna get building around those. those seem fun (fallen star set, aetherium set, etc) but theres also like. the lihzahrd furniture set exists and ... yknow, i think building an underground temple of my own for a jungle pylon seems quite fun. maybe it'd make the witch doctor feel a lil at home. could have an alchemy kinda area um, also i think it'd be awesome to make an iceberg with a home inside of it. like. im reminded of a certain iceberg you can swim inside of in subnautica below zero... has a cool interior. twists and turns, then u surface and . its like a cave ! i'd love to live in an iceberg heh i think a ghost pirate ship with the shimmered pirate would be a cool build ! could use lotsa fog machines and ofc gravestones for the graveyard biome i think meteor and sunplate furniture could really go together well if painted right, they both feel like. really unique "high tech yet in a fun way" vibes though speaking of high tech i think it'd be cool to build an abandoned overgrown laboratory in the jungle, for housing your planter boxes. if only i knew how to build metal stuff and make it look nice..

in terms of shimmer theres lotsa stuff i think u could do. ofc theres crystally hallow kinda place.. or clouds are also cool. but i think just making shimmer into more of like, a secret hotspring area would be cool. make it into like, pools that cascade down into each other.. maybe its even like some cave aquifer that opens up from a big ol tunnel in the ocean, and the further down into the oceans abyss you get, the more shimmery and ethereal (aethereal?) the vibes get

okay heres a real fun one: shimmer can change how NPCs look. so. have a seecret nightclub looking uh. neon... well. ig a fashion club of sorts with the clothier and stylist. tbh shimmered steampunker is very fashionable too. and just have like, a very Pool looking pool of shimmer in there. could store lots of vanity items there! call it the uhh Shimmer Salon or something. a ... mirage club. maybe the entrance to it is on the surface but only appears at night time bc . echo coating stuff. or something. disco balls ! and most recently, im thinking "yknow, granite caves look cool in the jungle. could contrast the jungle really interestingly with a granite elemental themed house, or a manmade detailed granite biome of sorts"

but also you could apply that to like... a mushroom surface build? have it be some weird granite-shroom grotto? you CAN paint glowing mushroom grass and do some funky stuff...

oh, and also you could do a yin yang kinda vibe for an underground base made of half marble and half granite. cus theyre like, opposites

in terms of places in games i think would be cool inspirations? area zero from pokemon SV, as well as any stage from the risk of rain series. and ... maybe some certain lategame areas in slime rancher. if you're bold, a rain world outskirts style place would be cool i think the best places to take from risk of rain could be a combination of both of the games' snowy places.. as well as ror1s temple of the elders and ror2s sky meadow. sundered grove is also very pretty but i think it'd be hard to really nail the vibes of oh and. minecraft ancient city? mayb..e...

...and now you see how i overwhelm myself ! lots of ideas! i think ill try and just focus on granite or maybe a hallowed crystal themed area (oh , and i have an unfinished TOTK sky island build. actually 2 of them. different takes on the idea. i think zonai stuff could be cool...)

FINALLY: what i want to do for my next world where i spawn inbetween 2 hills, is fill in the area between them with lotsa dirt and make a burrow like. rabbit burrow kinda vibe area. or a Mound . an anthill. a.. yea i think a Burrow like moles or rabbits make would be cool. just a big one. for people to live in. cool mega-spawnbase idea !

As for the Order, I briefly thought of making THEM our friends over the messages! Such as Gabriel being Ogden in specific - however the personalities and dynamics fit more for the group me and my fiance have written down. (Me and him roleplay our aus, so it's not possible without him! )

Gabriel has a new role! He is GG in Rancher 2!!! The man who leaves the bots around! Also known as GW here. ( this is subject to change due to the Grey Labyrinth not being released yet.)

First off, happy happy anniversary to you and your amazing story! I was new to the Obey Me fandom when I discovered it while I was searching for Leviathan x Reader fics, and I'm so happy I did! It's such a detailed and wonderful story <3

Hi Kkat!! I sincerely thank you for all your love of my silly story. I still can't believe it my fic you found when you were new! (I hope the occ never put you off back then HJSJH)

As you have asked a lot of (original!) questions, I have answered them under the cut! and I definitely don't mind you continuing to ask more in-depth ones. as long as I can keep it spoiler-free!

(I'm also very flattered there were questions about me haha!)

How much time do you dedicate to writing and research for your story in your daily/weekly life? It varies wildly per week if I am honest. Sometimes I can't write more than a sentence for three weeks straight and another day I pump out 3 spell-checked chapters. The research took up a LOT of time in the very beginning, especially figuring out how I wanted the cast to work out. Now it’s a whole lot less and I barely have to do it. Only when new characters appeared. Or now more commonly when a fact gets revealed about them I tend to thoroughly research it. Last time I had to study for a new fact I had like 7 tabs open on Ley lines and how they worked/their origins. Only to not use it at all lmao (well it's used but only if you squint) However, despite this the story is on my mind 24/7. Thinking about what I want to happen or cute/interesting character interactions. It is often a lot more difficult to put it down in words

When you're not writing or doing school work, what else do you do during your free time? …Well… I mostly uhm, read. Big AO3 fan here. Beyond that, I am a very creative soul. I draw! I used to have an art blog with like 500 followers, but that is in the long past- I'm also trying to make a Bullet Journal atm but I haven't done a whole lot. If I am not busy being so incredibly creative/lh I am usually playing games. I'm not a huge gamer like Levi, but I have a few games that I have quite a number of hours in! (Slime Rancher) Recently I became a huge fan of The Witcher 3 and Cult of the Lamb. If not any of those, I watch anime/read manga, regular shows or movies, talk or hang out with my friends. And I try to go to the gym! Although that's only like 2 hours per week since my stamina is utter garbage lmao

But my deadly sin would 100% be Envy I am such an incredibly jealous person, even since I was young. Not to trauma dump but all my life I've been compared to my siblings or other family members and now I get envious super easily. Now that I am older I can manage it a lot better than when I was little. But unfortunately, I have my fits. Also yes it correlates to Levi LMFAO Not asked, but if I had to make a tierlist of the sins that describe me. I’d have to say Envy>Wrath>Sloth>Lust>Pride>Gluttony

Of the OM characters, which one do you relate to the most? Extremely difficult question- I relate to so many of them, all for different reasons. Without naming Levi since I spoke about that in a different question, I'd have to say either Lucifer or Satan. Mostly Lucifer as we struggle with those delicious oldest sibling angst and responsibility. Ironically I really hated Lucifer at first, only to realise I was looking in a mirror. While I do not suffer from my pride in the slightest, and without doing a character analysis- I relate to the way he is perceived by others, many new fans think he treats his brothers so roughly. But if you take even 3 seconds to observe him closer you can see he holds so much fondness and love for his close ones. And I feel that. Satan is a similar case. When people don't see him for who he is they tend to quickly fall for the ‘he’s such a gentleman’ or ‘he’d murder you for a sprinkle’ guy. And I love the way Satan is complex because he IS a sweetheart, but he also is the sin of wrath. And people also tend to dumb me down to just one of my character traits so I relate to that so bad. And we are also both obsessed with books!

How did you get into reader inserts? Have you played any other dating sims/otome games before getting into OM? Have… have you heard of Mystic Messenger- that truly was my first otome/dating game. From there on it all went to hell with me- (Beyond Obey Me I actually haven't played that many other dating sims. Dangerous Fellows, LoveUnholic, HUGE fan of The Arcana. Got addicted to Character.ai for a while) Funnily enough, it wasn't that what truly got me into reader inserts. It was… it was Hetalia… while at first I only read their canon ships. I remember a 2p!Italy x reader that made such a huge impact on me, that I suddenly began reading a lot more fanfics with the trope I at first found cringe. (this fanfic has sadly been deleted) I still read a lot of ship fics, but also a big fan of my lovely reader inserts

What other, if any, fandoms are you a part of or just like enjoying content of? Please don't ask for my fandom list. It'd be worth 82 pages long. I’m a huge multi-fandom enjoyer.
