“Women and non-binary people” stop. Do you mean people with marginalized genders? Do you mean gender-oppressed people? Then say that. Stop refusing to recognize the very much gendered oppression of other trans people. There’s not some chasm of difference between how our oppressors treat a very masc non-binary person and a more binary trans man. I’m also non-binary and very much oppressed for my gender but because I’m transmasculine I could never feel comfortable in a space that marketed itself like that. Tell me what the real harm is of letting gender-oppressed mascs into spaces discussing gender oppression is. Because the consequence of not doing so is denying them space for their experiences just because of their gender identity. Do better.

my experiences being queer in mostly cishet physically disabled spaces: everyone minds their own business, totally accepts my masculine name, welcoming to my trans girlfriend, cool with me bringing a horde of 5+ visibly queer friends to the rugby tournament, some of the older men call me 'they/them' out of a misguided attempt to be accepting which is not my pronouns but I don't mind because they're trying, I play a mixed-gender sport so nobody really cares about my gender anyway
my experiences being disabled in able-bodied queer spaces: bullied, villified for trying to arrange events mostly in wheelchair accessible spaces, constantly disregarded, complete lack of access at Pride, pushed around physically, I've never been to a queer bar with wheelchair access, constantly fighting to have my gender accepted because I don't have the physical attributes people demand from butches, lonely

as a butch, I think that watching your femme do their makeup is an ancient lesbian ritual and it’s my love language and I will not be taking other opinions thank you

I have seen far too many gen z queer people being outright lesbophobic, particularly toward butches, studs and lesbian transmasculinity in general. It shows in their refusal to say the words “butch” or even “lesbian;” it shows when they shame mascs for being “manly;” it shows when they think the word “femme” means to pass as cishet; when they ignore femmes’ historical relationship with butches; it shows when they assume all lesbians are TERFs (which is a total erasure of the sheer number of trans lesbians—including trans men—who have always been a part of our community); it shows when they describe lesbian love and lesbian sex and lesbian desire in general with solely feminine or yonic adjectives; in short it shows when their internalized misogyny shows

It’s always weird to me when people try to recommend books similar to Gideon the Ninth and none of them are about lesbians. It indicates to me that the person completely misunderstands the series’s popularity. Like, the gothic sci-fi elements and the sarcastic narration are great and all, and I think Gideon the Ninth is a FLAWLESSLY written book, but I would not like it anywhere near as much as I do if the main character wasn’t a butch lesbian. That’s an integral part of the novel’s appeal and you can’t just replace it with any other book about necromancy like they’re in any way comparable
