Coming Back Home To You
Tumblr media
pairing : steve rogers x reader
fandom : marvel/avengers
synopsis : after a new threat wreak havoc on the team, steve suggests a safehouse with a surprise awaiting them inside.
a/n : inspired majorly by clints house!!
warnings : mentions of mind control and injuries etc. typical marvel stuff
the quinjet is completely silent, apart from the quiet hum of the engine. the entire team is still, dark shapes in the dimly lit cabin, everyone in varying levels of disarray.
natasha sits completely still, eyes staring unseeingly at the large console while a worried bruce sits beside her, combing her short red locks behind her ears. thor sits across from them, hand trembling slightly as it gripped mjolnir, mouth pressed in a thin line.
clint sits on the other end of the space, eyes squeezed shut as his wife spoke softly from the phone, reassuring him the 4 of them were all okay. tony sits a little away from him, his hands gripping his phone, staring at the picture of pepper and him peeking out at him.
wanda sits next to steve, her eyes wet with unshed tears, glimmering in the fading sunshine. steve casts worried glances in her direction from time to time, as he commanders the jet, the coordinates set in as he informs maria about where they're going. bucky sits on the other side, quiet, but not as badly affected as the rest. he had stayed on the jet for the majority of the time.
"i think we need a small break. some time to reset. whatever these things are, we need a break okay?" he says, voice firm. his team is down and he needs to look after them.
"where are you going to take them?" maria hill's voice fills the empty space. "a safehouse. fury knows where" is his cryptic response and she furrows a brow, but decides if fury knows, it's safe enough.
"okay. keep me posted" she replies, and logs off. steve takes a deep breath and wonders how it all went so wrong. one minute they were taking down the hydra base, and the second, they had all been blasted black, minds trapped in a simulation of them carrying out their deepest fears.
even wanda had been caught off guard, and before they knew it, bucky had brought the jet closer and steve was struggling off the ground to get the others back into the jet, back to safety.
they had all remained entrapped, until one by one it broke and they all snapped out gasping and shaking.
the sky is fading, a soft orange shade similar to ripe peaches, streaks of golden sunshine peeking out occasionally, as they sped away from the city, white clouds becoming more and more prominent as they reached the countryside.
after what felt like hours, steve landed the jet in what seemed like an isolated farmland, acres of green land and small dairy farms in smatterings across the area.
"where are we?" thor asked, helping wanda get to her feet. "yeah cap, are you sure this place is safe? it seems deserted" tony said, hiding the slight quiver in his knees.
"it's safe" he confirmed, helping bruce get natasha to her feet. "just have to walk for 5 minutes to the left" he continued, leading the way.
the team followed silently behind, trudging like a pack of kicked puppies, exhaustion laced on every line on all their faces.
"how do you know this place is safe?" clint asked, striding up to catch up with steve. "you'll see" he responded, smiling softly when a large house came into view.
"oh.." clint said, eyes brightening as he looked to steve for confirmation. he gave him a small smile in response.
a beautiful rustic, wooden house stood surrounded by what seemed like never ending green farmland. a beautiful wooden shed stood beside the house, and pretty flower pots and trees trailed around the house.
a beautiful patio was at the back of the house, with a small outdoor fire place and covered in fairy lights and small light bulbs, with a small table and couches.
it seemed to scream homely and comforting, and seemed to exude an aura of warmth. clint took in the place with a smile, noting the swing set and slide in the yard, and assorted collection of children's toys in the backyard.
"what is this place?" wanda muttered groggily, holding onto thor for support. "you'll see, but please wipe your feet on the mat" he said, gently pushing the front door of the house open.
what greeted them was the scent of vanilla and musk, oakwood and patchouli, and the subtle whiff of pinecones. the hallway was bright and sunny, pretty paintings and photos decorating the walls. there were small figurines made of ceramic, that looked hand painted.
as steve turned the corner, natasha noted the way he kept glancing up the long staircase, eyes glimmering with what looked like endless adoration.
"sweetheart?" he called softly, taking off his shield and setting it down on a shoe rack, that looked like it was made for his shield.
he neared the kitchen, the scent of cinnamon filled the air, and thors tummy rumbled loudly.
"steve?" came a honeyed voice, and the team was able to put a face to the voice when a gorgeous woman made her way out from behind the stove. she had eyes that sparkled softly, crinkled in a bright smile as she looked at their captain. she had an elegance to her, an aura of gentility and kindness that seemed to radiata in the brightness of her smile.
she was clad in a soft summer sundress dress, a pretty white dress that was covered in blue flowers, flowing just below her knees. they watched her eyes widen in joy, and rush towards steve, who pulled her into his arms, head burying into her neck, wrapping his arms tightly around her plush waist, pressing soft kisses to her shoulders, before pulling away and pressing his lips to her own, a deep, passionate kiss that took his breath away.
"hi sweetheart" he murmured against her lips before drawing back, suddenly hyper-aware of his team. "you're home!" the woman exclaimed again a soft laugh leaving her lips. "yes I am, and i have a few guests darling, i hope that's alright?" he asked, gently cradling her head in his palm
"uh sure! hi!" you said, waving kindly to the disheveled team. bruce smiled at you, confusion still present in his eyes, while thor and wanda gave you warm smiles. natasha looked at you giving you a once over, before flashing you a weak smile. she decided she liked your kind eyes.
"y/n!" bucky exclaimed, rushing forward to pull you into a tight hug. you laughed, squeezing him, before pulling back to assess him. "hi buck! how are you?"
the super soldier grinned at you, eyes flashing with an odd expression as he shook his head sadly. "I'm okay"
"care to introduce the rest of us?" tony chimed in awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck.
"guys, meet my wife, y/n l/n rogers." steve said, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you in close to him.
"i know all your names" you confessed, playing with the string of your dress nervously as they all said hello softly.
"how long have you been married?" bruce asked, slowly warming up to his captains wife.
"about five years. fury helped me set this up like he helped clint. didn't want her getting involved in the dangers of being married to an avenger. thats why I don't wear my ring around everyone" he said, answering the questions on everyones lips.
"it's nice to meet you" wanda said shyly, and you gave her an encouraging smile.
"why don't you guys go and get changed and bathed? there's three bathrooms in here and a wash room in the shed in case you don't want to wait" you said , going towards the oven to turn it off. "I have some fresh cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies in the oven, and i can have a cold jug of lemonade ready for you by the time you're done getting changed" you said, leaning down to make sure everything was done baking.
"where are my two troublemakers?" steve asked quietly, not wanting to spoil the biggest surprise of all. you smiled, pointing towards the staircase. "let me call them for you-" before you could finish, the thundering of footsteps became audible and you shared an amused glance with bucky.
"daddy!" two gleeful voices filled the air and two blue eyed, pigtailed figures came running into the kitchen, clad in denim dungarees and white shirts.
"hi my loves!" steve said, scooping both his daughters into his arms, laughing when they squealed and kissed his cheeks.
"we missed you!" the girl on the left said, burrowing into her dad. "so much!" the girl on the right completed, squishing his cheeks.
"guys, meet sarah marie rogers and stella jamie rogers" steve smiled proudly, to an awe struck group of avengers who had their jaws on the floor.
"you have children?!?!" natasha said, mouth agape as she stared at the twins in steve's arms. "actual puny little humans?" thor said, eyes as wide as saucers.
clint just laughed, waving to the little girls. stella buried her face in her dad's neck, clearly the more reserved of the two, while sarah waved brightly back at him.
"uncle bucky!" sarah exclaimed, reaching for the man who took her with a laugh, spinning her around. "hello little angel! I've missed you!" he laughed, ruffling her hair softly.
you watched your daughter's reuniting with their father, a soft smile on your face. how you had missed him!
"well, I guess captain america's got more than just his shield to protect now! who knew old cap could multitask? i wonder if he still gives the 'I can do this all day' speech during diaper changes." tony chimed in, smirking at steve.
you laughed at the comment, shaking his hand warmly. "yeah he does sometimes" you smirked, earning a look of betrayal from your husband while wanda and clint laughed.
"woah you're black widow!" sarah said, looking wide eyed at natasha. "you're my favourite avenger!" she exclaimed, earning a chuckle from the assassin, who raised her hand up for a high five.
"whose your favourite?" clint asked stella, his fatherly instincts kicking in.
stella mumbled something softly, still holding on to her daddy. "tell him sweetie, thats hawkeye, remember i told you about him?" steve urged gently, softly pushing his daughter's long locks away from her eyes.
"my favourite is thor" she mumbled, eyes widening as she took in the asgardian. steve watched as the god visibly melted, a bright smile on his face as he strode over to the little girl.
"it appears that i am the mightiest avenger in the eyes of the smallest mortal! dear child k if you require any tips on wielding a tiny hammer or battling bedtime monsters, you know who to call. i humbly acclaim myself your immortal servant" he said seriously, holding out his large hand for a handshake.
stella just turned away, shy and flustered at the hulking avenger before saying a soft "okay" earning a laugh from bucky.
"she's just a kid thor" bruce said, looking up from the paintings around the room. "did you guys paint these?" he asked, looking in awe of the paintings. "daddy did some and we did some" sarah responded, still happily snuggled in her uncle's arms.
"wow" wanda said, examining one of a field of tulips. "which one of you painted this?" she asked, looking over at you. "me" a shy voice responded as stella spoke up. "oh you're so talented!" wanda said, voice still soft. she related to this quiet child, and felt an immediate connect with her.
"t-thank you" she said, offering her a sugar sweet smile. "do you want to see my other paintings and crafts?" she asked, slowly clambering off her dad's lap, and walking carefully over to the sokovian.
"I'd love that!" she said, leaning her hands towards the little girl, who took her hand in her own.
"uncle bucky, do you want to help me build my trampoline?" sarah asked, arms looped around his neck. "sure sweetheart, we can do that".
"darling, let's let them all get comfortable first okay?" you interrupted, smiling when your younger twin (sarah) came bounding over to you for a hug.
"okay mama, I'm gonna go and show stella and auntie wanda some of my drawings too!" she said and she was shooting off like lightning again, but not before hugging her dad's knees and saying "i love you daddy!" again to steve.
as the team dispersed to the various bathrooms, steve led you up to your bedroom, closing the door behind you two.
"my sweet baby, I've missed you so much" he said, advancing towards you, cupping your cheeks in his hands, tugging you close, forehead resting gently against yours.
"I've missed you more. are you okay? how come you're here?" you asked, brushing his sandy blonde locks away from his forehead.
his blue eyes clouded over and his grip on you tightened. "i thought i-" his voice broke and you immediately wrapped your arms around him, hearing him take a deep stuttering breath.
"there was this new hydra variant. some element of mind control. I saw you and the girls...lying here... cold and..." his voice broke and he pulled back, thumb grabbing your chin to yank you into a kiss.
he needed to feel you. to physically feel and make sure you were alive and right there with him.
"I'm right here steve, right here my darling. I'm okay, the girls are okay. and were all right here." you chanted like a mantra, stroking his hair.
he pulled you into a kiss again, messy, teeth and tongue clashing, hands roaming your waist, hips and finally resting in your hair and one hand on your waist.
"i love you" he murmured, eyes never leaving yours as he leaned back. "i love you more" you whispered back, slowly pushing him to sit down. "let's get you changed honey" you said, drawing a warm bath as you slipped into the bathroom.
steve took a deep breath.
it was all going to be okay.
he was finally home.

Jealous
Summary: Steve really doesn't like the person you're interviewing, so afterwards he fucks you sensleess.
Trigger Warning(s): unprotected sex, cursing, degradation, slight forcing, mentions of breeding kink, not proof read, maybe some typos
Word Count: 3.4k
A/N: Happy early birthday @ceo-of-daichi ! Possessive Steve is the best Steve~ (P.S. - I drank some tea for the flu in hops that it'll make me feel better, so the last half of this was written with a drowsy mind).
**Minors and ageless blogs do not interact. 18+ only**
Tumblr media
“You’re interviewing him?”
You turned to look at your boyfriend as you buttoned up your blouse. You cocked a brow at the tone of his implication. You had been getting ready for a meeting for an interview that was to be done in an hour when he stalked into the room.
Ever since Steve had found out you were interviewing Loki for his part in the literal destruction of New York City, he had been making comments here and there on why this was a bad idea. Maybe he was right, but you were just over the moon Loki had even agreed to do an interview with you.
"Babe, I don't really see what's the problem," you responded nonchalantly, taking your time to button up the last few buttons. To show some boobage or to not. You chewed on the inside of your lip in thought.
Steve scoffed. "Are you kidding me? He just tried to take over New York City, causing millions in destruction. He's dangerous."
"Dangerous." You repeated. "Everyone is dangerous, Steve, even The Avengers. Besides, there's going to be, like, a bunch of police guys there guarding him. I actually think they might be S.H.I.E.L.D. agents."
You watched as the muscles on Steve's arm flexed as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Is that supposed to make me feel better?"
"Jesus Christ, Steve--"
"Language--"
"Why don't you just come with me? Brood in the corner like my silent protector."
It was silent for a few heartbeats, and you thought Steve might laugh in your face. Instead, he shook his head, a ghost of a smile on his lips.
"Fine," Steve said, leaning back against the door frame. "Button up your shirt again, I missed the show."
You giggled and rolled your eyes, but obeyed. You unbuttoned your blouse, then buttoned it back up again slower this time, giving a good show.
Tumblr media
You walked into the interview room: Loki's cell. He was held behind some type of glass box, the floors some sort of dark, holographic tile. The room was bare, housing only a dozen or so S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Loki had escaped once from a cell similar to this, the chances of him escaping again were likely. These agents wouldn't be able to do much to stop it.
You stepped towards the glass, stopping a foot or two from the cell. Loki was already standing, and as he stalked towards you, he made sure to trail his eyes over your body.
"Did you get all dressed up for me?" Loki drawled, a smirk tugging on the corners of his lips.
You rolled your eyes and pulled out the small recorder that was tucked into the waistband of your tight skirt. "I hate to bruise your ego, but it's actually a job requirement," you responded, tripling checking the recorder had enough charge. You had checked the decent sized black rectangle before you left the apartment and then on your way over here. A nervous habit and the constant feeling that something would go wrong.
"An enjoyable job requirement. For me," Loki commented.
You heard a low growl come from Steve and felt the warmth from his chest as he stepped closer to you.
"Oh," Loki hummed. "A displeasure to see you Mr. America." Loki took a few steps closer. "Did they send you in to keep guard, too?"
"No," Steve answered roughly. "And it's Captain."
"Yes, so sorry. Mr. Captain." Loki smiled wide, clearly enjoying making your boyfriend irritable.
You couldn't help but giggle and look down. Loki was charming and funny. Too bad he was an absolute menace to society.
"Mr. Laufeyson--" you started, pressing the record button.
"Oh, I like the sound of that," Loki purred.
"--I want to make you aware that from this point forward, I'll be recording or conversation for the interview you agreed to."
Tumblr media
The door that lead to Loki's cell closed with a loud thud and you walked down the quiet hallways in silence. Steve hadn't said much since speaking up before the interview, and you had this gut feeling that something was wrong. You stole a glance toward him and frowned. He was brooding, his brows knitted together with irritation. Even as pissed as he looked, he still looked so beautiful, like he was carved by the hands of a goddess.
"Stop staring at me," Steve said sharply.
You frowned at the roughness in his voice. "You're angry."
"I'm not."
You moved your gaze back to the labyrinth you were walking through, deciding to stay quiet. It was no use trying to talk to Steve when he got in these moods. His walls would come up and anything you'd say would just bounce right back at you. You'd just have to wait until you got home.
The next few minutes were filled with the sounds of your shoes echoing off the dark floors. At this point, you weren't even sure where you were going, and you were hoping that Steve would guide you in the right direction. But he stopped, causing you to stop with him.
"What--?"
"I told you, you shouldn't have done that interview with him," Steve hissed.
You turned towards him, your brows furrowed with confusion. You opened you mouth, but closed it as soon as Steve continued.
"The whole time--the whole fucking time--he was doing nothing but flirting with you. Commenting on your clothes, commenting on your hair, commenting on your hips--"
"I do have nice 'birthing hips,'" you interjected playfully.
Steve backed you up against a wall, his hand slamming against the tile above your head. "That's not the fucking point," he growled, his face inches from yours.
"Language," you breathed. Your thighs instinctively rubbed together at the close proximity of your bodies. With just a slight arc of your back, your aching breasts would be flush against his chest. You mentally kicked yourself. Now wasn't the time to have your head in the gutter. Not when Steve was finally addressing the situation at hand.
"You looked like you were enjoying the flirting, too," he spat. "Did you?"
You were at a loss for words. Of course you enjoyed the playful flirting. You enjoyed the senseless comments just to irritate Steve and the below the belt jabs just to get a response out of him. How could you not? Steve was always so tense, so worried about his image in public that it came home with him. He didn't know how to let loose, how to just be Steve Rogers instead of Captain America.
"Yes," you finally answered. "I enjoyed it. A lot."
Steve pushed himself off the wall and ran a hand through his perfectly combed hair. "Fuck--" He took a deep breath and looked at you, then looked away. He seemed to be having an internal battle with himself.
"I liked the way you reacted to it," you continued bashfully, looking down. "Y'know, this--" You quickly gestured with a hand to Steve and stepped away from the wall.
You felt stupid at the disclosure, but you didn't want Steve to think you enjoyed the flirting because of who it was coming from. You liked the way Steve would place a subtle hand on your hip or gently brush back your hair whenever Loki would make a sly remark. Steve wasn't the possessive type, and you enjoyed it. But you also didn't know him being possessive would do these things to you. Your breasts felt heavier, your nipples pebbled, and your core ached with a neediness you had never felt before.
"This..." Steve trailed off. He gave a breathy chuckle and shook his head. "You're mine."
You blinked, taking a shallow breath. You needed to hear him say that again, needed to hear him say that while he was in you.
Steve shook his head again and backed you up against the wall once more. "You're mine." He buried his head in the crook of your neck and gave you a rough kiss against the sensitive skin. "Mine."
"I'm yours," you whispered, digging your fingers into his shoulders. You tilted your head back, exposing more of your neck for Steve to explore.
He pushed a knee between your legs and pried them open as much as your skirt would allow. His thick, muscled thigh rest on your lower thighs. If only you could hike this skirt up more, you thought, you'd be able to get some friction on your core. Your hips bucked and you licked your lips.
Were you really going to do this right here in the hallway? Steve tangled a hand in your hair and tugged roughly, eliciting a soft moan from your lips. To hell with this being a public space, you wanted Steve now. Your hands trailed down the blue button up he was wearing down to the gold buckle of his brown leather belt. You groaned in frustration, the belt lodged deep within the buckle.
"Steve Rogers and very horny girlfriend," echoed Fury's voice through the PA system. "Go fuck in your own house before I have you arrested."
Your hand froze, as did the rest of your body. How could you have forgotten you were in a public S.H.I.E.L.D. hallway with dozens of cameras? Nick Fury was practically watching the beginning of a porno. You moved your hands away from Steve's belt buckle and fixed your skirt. He stepped away from you, fixing his shirt. That's when you noticed his smirk. Had he planned all this? Realization hit you like a semi truck. Fury had exposed you all over the speakers. Speakers that sounded everywhere. Everywhere like in Loki's cell. After all the shameless flirting, Steve had proven to Loki that you were his.
You frowned. How could Steve have done this? It wasn't like him at all to dangle you like some prize.
"Real fucking mature, Steven."
Tumblr media
"What's wrong, angel? You haven't spoken to me the whole ride home."
"Can it Steven," you snapped, tossing your purse on the kitchen counter. "You used me back there."
Steve scoffed. "Did I make a little scene in that hallway knowing Fury would say something? Maybe, sure. Did I know that Loki would hear? Yes. But, Angel, what was I supposed to do when you liked his flirting?"
You whirled on the ball of your foot toward Steve and pointed a finger at him. "You tricked me! I thought you were finally showing--I don't know, this dominant and possessive side? And I thought it was genuine, not some fucking show!"
Steve gave a heavy sigh. "Angel--"
"Don't fucking 'Angel' me, Steven." You pointed at him again, this time poking his chest. "I wanted to fuck you in that hallway. I was ready to fuck you in that hallway."
Steve grabbed you by the wrist and pulled you closer to him. "I was more than ready to fuck you in that hallway, too," he said, his voice a tad more gentle. "I would have fucked you against the glass of Loki's cell to claim you." A hot shiver ran down your spine and fluttered in your core. "I would have fucked my cum deep inside you until it ran down your legs for everyone to see. Especially him."
Your breath caught in your throat and the anger that was once boiling over in your blood had now dispersed. What replaced it was a deeply rooted lust that burned to your very core. Your blood, your body was on fire and the only way to sate it was to rip the clothes from your body and ride Steve until dawn.
"Do you want that, Angel?" Steve ran a hand down your arm and gently turned you around. His hand ran over your abdomen, his fingers catching in the buttons of your blouse. Your back was now flush against his chest and you felt something hard against your lower back. You breathed a shaky sigh of anticipation as he untucked the shirt from the tight skirt. His fingers worked to free the buttons and you shivered at the tension it caused your body.
You could only nod as the last button was freed, your chest nearly exposed. Your nipples hardened further at the coolness of your shared apartment, your lace bralette doing nothing to keep you warm.
He ran his hands up your bare stomach, then to the bottom of your bralette. His fingers dipped under the black, Lacey fabric and caressed the bottoms of your breasts. Another shaky sigh passed your lips and you rest your head back against shoulder. The feeling of his fingers sliding and squeezing your tender breasts, pinching and rolling your nipples between his fingers had you squirming for more. Wonton mews fluttered through your lips and your own hands rest over his, begging to handle you more rough.
Warm, wet kisses trailed along your neck to the outmost corner of your jaw. Your skin tingled where his lips met your flesh, tingled and buzzed until you felt as if you were going to explode. Steve had never handled you like this, had never been so passionate with you before.
Sex had always been mostly simple with Steve. Standard missionary was the go-to, with the occasional cowgirl. Everything else was…uncharted territory. Of course, you didn’t mind the simplicity, but this…this was amazing.
You pushed your bottom against his hard bulge and whined softly. “Steve,” you mewled. “I need more—please.”
Steve paused his ministrations on your breasts, his breath shaky against your neck. He slid his hands out of your lacy bralette, pausing at the bottom. In an instant, his fingers were digging into the lace, ripping the fragile fabric in two. Goosebumps pimpled over your breasts as the cold air of your apartment enveloped you skin. You gasped softly, the sudden show of aggression catching you off guard. His hands found place at the hem of your skirt, pushing the tight professional ware down your ass.
“What do you need, sweetheart?” Steve asked, his voice an octave lower.
You shakily stepped out of the skirt now pooled at your feet, now only standing in your opened blouse and a simple black thong. You shrugged the blouse to the floor, the remnants of your bralette falling with it. You turned around to face Steve in your nakedness.
“I need you,” you answered timidly, your gaze on the floor. “I need you inside me.” It was weird to tell him what you needed, having never spoken to each other during sex other than the occasional “you like that?” But you felt brave and…sexy. You took the smallest step closer, your fingers teasing the button of his jeans.
Steve let out a shaky breath, his hands gripping your hips tightly. You managed to undo the button one-handed and drag the zipper of his pants down, your fingers brushing against his clothed cock. You felt him twitch slightly, and you couldn't help the smile that tugged on your lips. He must be so hard, probably harder than he's ever been.
"Do you need me, too?" you asked, your hand fingering the hem of his boxers. Where was this braveness coming from? You slipped your hand inside his underwear, gently grabbing his cock. Your thumb swiped along the head of his penis, smearing his pre-cum.
Steve swallowed hard, and you could see the effort it took for him to bring his hand to caress your cheek. "I want you to suck my cock," Steve grunted.
Your thumb stopped its ministrations and you pulled your hand from his boxers. "No." You stepped back, looking Steve up and down.
Steve cocked his head to the side, his brows furrowed. "'No'?" he repeated. He took a step towards you, and you took a step back, your lower back brushing against the kitchen island counter. Steve shook his head and pulled up the shirt he wore. Understandably, you were quite distracted by his chest and the dark hairs leading down to--
You let out a small yelp as Steve grabbed you by the backs of your knees and placed you on the counter. He forced your legs apart, running a finger over the thin g-string covering your heated mess. A finger pushed the thin fabric aside and delved inside your needy cunt. His finger flexed and curled almost instantly, and you let out a loud moan.
"You sound so needy," he growled, pulling his finger out. He rubbed his thumb and forefinger together, spreading your juices. "Is it me that's got you like this? Or him?" He shook his head, disgust shining through his features. "Slut."
You winced at the word, at the harshness of it. Did he really mean that? "Steve," you started, "of course it's you--" You were cut off with a loud moan pushing through your lips as Steve inserted two fingers inside you. His fingers curled once more, and with it your toes.
"This pussy belongs to me," he pumped his fingers inside you, his other hand pushing down his boxers and pants. "Your pussy belongs to me."
Without a warning, Steve's fingers abandoned your needy core, and in its place was his cock. The thickness stretched you out, and the head of his penis hit against your puffy walls. He pulled out quickly, then bottomed out inside you once more. His hands gripped your hips roughly, his thrusts just as rough. You cried out each time, nearly feeling him in your stomach. It was too much, but not enough at the same time. You had never been fucked like this before, and you relished in it. Relished in the way Steve's balls slapped against you with a wet snap. Relished in the way Steve made a mess of you--your wetness dripping down to the counter.
"I belong to you," you whimpered, back arching. Your hands gripped his thick biceps, your nails digging into his flesh.
Steve's thrusts faltered and he finally looked at you. He pulled you flush to his chest, your bare breasts against him. He gripped your chin and looked deep into your eyes. "Say it again."
You were caught aback, never having seen Steve so vulnerable before. You moved your hands up to rest on his shoulders. "I'm yours, Steve. Body and soul."
It was as if a switch had been pressed in Steve. One minute you were on the counter and the next you were bouncing against the wall. Steve thrust up into you, his cock never leaving the warmth of your pussy. His grip on your hips was ironclad as he fucking you on the wall. You screamed in bliss and in pain. You'd never been explored like this--Steve had never explored you like this. His cock was hitting places you didn't even know existed or felt good. He shifted his position, thrusting into you at a different angle and you saw stars. Tears leaked from the corner of your eyes as your orgasm washed through your body. Your legs wrapped around his torso, your ankles locking around each other.
Steve fucked you through your orgasm, sweat lining the both of your bodies. Your hands tangled in his hair and tugged lightly, another cry emanating from your lips. You ground your hips down against him, your clit rubbing against his pelvis. You could feel another orgasm coming, could feel the tension in your body rise. Your fingers tightened on the strands of Steve's hair as another orgasm was nearing its peak. Your back arched as your body trembled with another orgasm, your legs shaking. Steve's thrusts faltered and he groaned loudly. His cock twitched inside you as he pushed himself as deep as he could in your battered cunt. He allowed himself to spill his seed within you, and you both stayed in that position for quite some time. Even when you felt his cock soften within you, you stayed like that, each breathing hard.
"Steve?" you breathed, untangling your fingers from his hair.
"Hmm?" he answered. His head rest on your shoulder, his breath fanning against your neck.
"Did you really mean that? That you'd fuck me in front of Loki?"
Steve lifted his head and looked at you. "Well, maybe not in front of someone--"
"But like," you paused timidly, "in public?"
Steve chuckled. "I wouldn't mind, angel. We can try it one day."

Random Thoughts - Ass , Tits , Thighs
There are three kind of people. Ass guy , a tits guy and a thighs guy.
Steve is a tits guy. He loves his partners chest. No matter how small or how big. He loved them. Even if they are pecks any size he loves. Loving to touch , kiss, lick whatever it might be. He especially loved laying on the chest of his partner. Even if you think you have nothing for him to lay on he still wants to lay on them and finds the most joy in doing so.
If your a female and your wearing a low cut shirt that might show off any kinds of chevage , he is not paying attention. At all. His eyes and mind are only focused on one thing.
"Steve!" Y/n snapped as she was trying to get his attention as she was trying to talk to him about a case. He kept humming like he agreed but he wasn't listening as he stared at her chest. Till she finally pulled her shirt up to hide her cleavages. Making his finally focus on what she's saying.
If your a guy and your working out without a shirt. Steve is off to the side drooling. Just watching the pecks move and flex as you work out.
"Steve?!" Y/n called out as he was bench pressing and Steve was suppose to be spotting him. But Steve seemed out of it as he stared down at Y/n's chest. As he was shirtless. But now he was struggling to push the bar up as he added more weight and needed Steve's help. "Steve!" Y/n yelled as he finally got Steve to snap out of it and help. "I'm wearing a shirt from now on when I work out with you". Y/n said groaning as he sat up. Which Steve pouted at.
Bucky is an Ass man. Like Steve he doesn't care what size of ass. If it was more muscled or round or even a bit floppy. He doesn't care. He just likes them. He loved to have his hand on his partners ass at almost all times. And as his partner you better be prepared for him to slap your ass all the time. He also loved to lay on his partners ass as they lay on their stomach. Although be careful cause he will bit your ass. Even try to leave his teeth marks on your ass.
If your a female good luck getting around to anything if you wear leggings. He will be on you and not leaving you alone the whole day. having you pressed against his front or even having his hand on your ass.
This can be for a guy too if your a guy to wear leggings. But more for a guy he loves watching his boyfriend walk around in his boxer. Those like tight athletic feeling ones. The ones that are almost tight against the skin and end a little below the fold of the ass.
female or male if your doing any kind of squats in front of him, good luck! Cause he is going to be pressed up against you.
"Bucky!" Y/n groaned. As they were trying to do some weighted squats. Bucky agreed to spot , which they knew better then to agree to. But there they were now they were getting ready to pick up the bar but Bucky wouldn't step back. Finally he steps back letting them do the squats. But as soon as Y/n reracks the bar even if its just to take a small break in between sets. Bucky steps back up against them again.
Sam is a Thighs guy. Like the other two , does NOT care what size they are. He is going to be touching up on them, kissing them and so on. Your inner thighs will always be covered in bit marks and hickies. He also loves to lay and sleep on your lap. They are his nap spot. On Sundays he loves to take a nap right on your thighs. He does not care if you are doing something he will pull you away to sit on the couch as he lays his head on your thighs to go to sleep.
If your a male or female if you put on those like thigh high socks and you pull them up and some of your thighs is spilling up over the socks, he's losing it. Kneeling to you and acting like a dog for you.
There is also no way you can sit that won't have him going crazy. Have your legs cross and your thighs squish together he's going crazy. Especially if your a male and you sit in that male way of leaning back with your legs spread. He's on his knees with a nose bleed.
He once paid Bucky to dare you to crush a watermelon between your legs. Even if you can't crush the watermelon, Sam is drooling. Just watching as your thighs wrap around the watermelon and flex squeezing the watermelon. It seconds he's pulling you away from the watermelon and to his room to ask you to squeeze his head like you did that watermelon.
That's it Just my thoughts on the guys!-MM

How the Marvel men treat you on Valentines Day
pairings Steve Rogers x reader warnings none, teeth rotting fluff
masterlist
Tumblr media
Like Bucky Steve is very old school. Therefore, it’s not a hard decision for him on what to do on Valentines Day. First of all, he wrote you a little love letter, telling you to be ready on Valentines Day, 7pm. And you do just that, just as you finish putting on some lipstick there’s a knock at your door. Excitedly you open it to find Steve standing there, a bouquet of flowers in hand and a huge smile all over his face. “Happy Valentines Day” he says and patiently wait for your reaction. “You look amazing, darling” he looks you up and down and you can’t take his cute look anymore and just wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him in for a kiss. Steve returns the kiss and smiles softly at you as you part after a couple of seconds. “You ready to go?” As soon as you nod he gently takes your hand and leads the way. He takes you to a vintage bar nearby where you spend the evening. You talk and laugh a lot together, and eventually he is even comfortable enough to dance with you to the music out of an old jukebox. And for a moment he even forgets all the stress and responsibilities he has as Captain America. He feels sent back in time, with you, the love of his life, swaying in his arms.

This wasn't supposed to happen.
You weren't ready to get dragged through the mud just yet.
You and Steve have been dating for a year. You were a regular software engineer. Wandering around on the internet, to help fellow programmers with their problems. Little did you know, that none other than Tony Stark was there for help under the disguise of 'toiletdistroyer'; frankly, you should have known by this username, but oh well.
So, you caught the billionaires eye and he offered you a job on the spot. And of course, you took it, much to your parents dismay and happiness. With tears filled in your eyes and aachar, parathe stuffed in your tiffin. Of you went to America.
You didn't meet the captain for a good month and honestly, even if you had. You wouldn't have given two fucks about him since you were stressed to the brim with work and moving in.
You slowly met every avenger. Tony was the first, of course. Then it was Bruce Wayne Banner as you worked on the technical part of a bio-tech project he was developing. He was good but was shy and mostly kept to himself. Afterwards followed, Natasha, she was sassy and perfect. You liked talking to her about girl shit and somehow, she took a liking to your weird ass and you befriended black widow.
Next up, was his best friend. Bucky. He caught you wandering outside the stark building because you came too early and so he joined you and the birds chirping. He was cute and funny, but not your type. Thankfully, he wasn't interested and quickly friend zoned him.
Then you met him.
You whistled as you sauntered into the lobby. Clocking out early from your shift and cherry on top, it was Friday. You were going to have a fun weekend. Talking with your parents, watching kdrama and being gleefully single.
Your whistle was disturbed by something squashy yet hard coming underneath your foot. You retreated your foot and glanced down with furrowed brows. It was a brown leather wallet. With a sigh, you bent down and picked up the lost wallet.
You opened the wallet to see the identity of the abandoned wallet's owner and your eyebrows disappeared into you hairline as the stupidly handsome face of the captain appeared in front of you. He must have dropped it in a hurry.
Your eyes darted around as you bit your bottom lip. The sane thing to do would be to go to the reception, hand her the wallet and go your merry way. But he might still be around and also, the receptionist looked too bitchy for you to deal with. So you went for the less sane option, of course.
You took a deep breath and glanced up at the ceiling. "Hey, Friday. Is Captain Rogers still in the compound?"
"Yes, miss. Shona. Captain Rogers is in the parking lot." The robotic voice of Friday said from above.
"Thank you, Friday." You said and deeply sighed. Yes, you could do it. No need to be nervous. What if he's Captain America? You ain't a criminal. With that peep talk, you rushed to the parking lot.
You almost tripped while trying to find Steve in the parking lot but in the end, you found him. He was swinging his leg to climb on his bike when you shouted to get his attention.
"Captain Rogers! Captain Rogers!" The man stopped mid-way, setting his foot back on the ground as he turned around and you almost died at the sight of him. He was wearing blue jeans, white T-shirt and blue jacket, making his sapphire eyes pop as some blonde hair strands falling over his forehead. Oh, girl. Get a grip on yourself!
He was startled by your incessant shouting as he looked at you with his doe yet alert eyes. "Yes, miss. How can I help you?" He asked, ever the gentleman and you internally sighed in relief that he didn't call you ma'am.
You waved his wallet and said. "Your wallet. I think you dropped in the lobby."
His eyes widened as he patted his pockets and a sheepish look appeared on his face. "Ah, I think I really dropped it. Sorry." He said and walked up to you.
You gave him his wallet with a smile and bit your lip when your hands touched. Fuck, were you on your pms?
You peered at him through your lashes as he checked the insides of the wallet and promptly shoved it in his jeans back pocket.
He glanced at you and with a shy smile, said. "Thank you, miss."
"Oh, no problem. You can call me shona." You didn't know what divine energy of confidence came over you as you extended your hand for Steve to shake.
Steve looked at you funnily but shook your hand nonetheless. "That's not your real name, is it?" He asked timidly after the handshake, his touch lingering on your hand as you unwittingly savoured the feeling.
You beamed at him and shook your head. "Nope."
"Then, what is it?"
You told him your name and the smile on his dashing face faded away as he looked down. You could not blame him, most people had the same reaction and that was why you gave your nickname, not actual name.
"I'll probably butcher that." He muttered sadly as he scratched the back of his neck.
You chuckled and waved off his concerns. "It's alright. Most people can't say my name. Only few special people have made it into a special group who can pronounce it outside India." And it was true. Only few people were able to say your name without getting their tongue twisted, including Natasha.
Steve raised an eyebrow. He bent down, close to your face and whispered, in a husky voice. "And what are the requirements?"
You hummed as you pretend to think with your finger on your chin and said, dramatically. "A lot of dedication and practice."
Now it was his turned to be amused as he leaned even closer and asked. "And what will I get if I get into this special club?"
You were caught off guard as you spluttered out. "Um, what do you want?" And you also had kdramas to binge for fuck sake.
"A dinner sounds good." He said with a lopsided grin.
You gave him a thumbs up and said. "Perfect! Now I need to go. I have a weekend to enjoy, bye." You said and rushed out without a second thought or glance at Steve.
When you sat down in the metro was the time when your dumb mind actually processed his words and you froze In your seat. Wait! Did he just ask you on a date?
He did, in fact, ask you on a date.
After he learned to say your name. You two went on a date and you knew you were doomed. Those blue eyes had effectively captured your heart as you slowly fell for him.
And who won't? He was so soft, affectionate, caring, supportive. He was perfect. You didn't know what he saw in you. You were so... Regular.
But whenever you would say this to him. He would look at you all offended and ask why not? You were beautiful, intelligent and his sunshine. And you melted everytime he said that.
You told your parents and you had to make your mother take an oath that she won't say anything about your relationship to any of your relatives as she just couldn't stop giggling. Thankfully, she kept her oath.
You also officially got introduced to the avengers. Bucky and Natasha already knew about it and everyone was happy for you and Steve. Yeah, Tony did throw a tantrum about how he didn't figure out your budding romance and how Rogers whisked you away from under his nose. His words, not yours. And he also earned a slap to the chest by Pepper for that.
You both decided to keep your relationship private. Steve did not want to make a circus of his relationship in the media and you also wanted to lay low. You wanted to take the Katrina Kaif route, one day you're single and the next day, poof! You are married.
But the Cosmos had another plan.
You didn't know who it was, a reporter or a fan. But someone captured you and Steve in a not so platonic way. You were sitting on his bike, one hand occupied with an ice cream and the other, draped over his board shoulder. He was holding you by the waist as you both kissed. Ice cream long forgotten as you both were smiling into the kiss. But someone had posted it on social media and overnight your very private relationship was in front of the entire world to judge ans comment about.
You woke up to a cold bed and your phone exploded with texts and calls, ranging from judgmental relatives to your friends from India and America to the entire avengers team.
You furrowed your brows at the slew of messages and calls and decided to call Steve but instead his phone blared in your shared room, making you sigh. What the fuck was going on?
You scrolled through your contacts and paused when Natasha's name appeared. You hovered over her number hesitantly before calling her. Just after two rings, she answered.
"Hello, Natasha. What is going on and where is Steve?" You asked her in a sleepy voice and scratched your head.
On the other side of the line, Natasha sucked in a sharp breath and replied with unusual franticness. "Shona, somebody leaked a photo of you two and now the world knows that you both are in a relationship. Steve's in the living room, come here quickly and don't open your social media!" Natasha cautioned.
"Wha-" You didn't even get a chance to comprehend her words before she hang up the call. You glance at your phone incredulously. You sat up straight when your brain finally processed the given information. Your relationship was public. Your Katrina Kaif moment was ruined even before it materialised, ugh! So unfair.
And telling you not to open your social medias? It was like telling a child not to eat the candies from the jar. You bit your lip and opened the hellhole called twitter. And the number one trending hastag was:
#CaptainAmericaisdatingwho?
You tapped on the hastag and was instantly greeted by the picture of you and Steve. Your eyes widened as you took in the picture, whoever clicked it had good photography skills as you looked decent in it. You scrolled down and made a decision you would later come to regret, started reading the reactions of the people.
He is dating an Indian? Why? Did he not find any good girl in here? Insane.
If they have a child, what would be their skin color?
She probably put him under a spell or something.
Wait! She works for Stark, meaning this is a work-place relationship. Yeah, no shit, Sherlock.
Captain America is taken😭😭😭 why God! Now I need to find someone else to obsess over😭😭😭
Look how she's eating. Like, get some manners girl! 👇
You looked down to the image attached. You were eating rice with your hand and winking at the camera, granted it wasn't the neatest sight but eating food with hands made it taster(yeah, fight me on it!).
That was it, you could not take it anymore. You burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter as you giggled at the comments, doubling down in your bed.
Tears gathered in your eyes as you laughed your ass off on these racists misery. You knew damn well that you would face some form of racism whether you dated Steve or not and it was funny to see them whine like anyone gave a shit.
You scrolled some more laughing at the whiny racist and the memes people made along the way. However, one comment caught your attention as you halted to read it.
Why isn't Steve dating her?
You looked down at the photo and your heart dropped, all your happiness fading away. You stared at the woman's photo for what felt like ages as you observed her porcelain skin, her blonde hair and her perfect figure. She was the epitome of an American woman.
You looked at Sharon's perfect face and could not help but echo the poster's thought. Yeah, why wasn't he dating Sharon? Why was he dating you? A regular girl while he was captain fucking America! He could have anyone he wanted. A model, an actor anyone he wanted and he wanted you? Why?
Much to your detriment, you scroll past it and onto the next comment which said:
So, she's the ugly one in the relationship 🙈🙈🙈
The comment plunged into your soul like a rusted dagger as your breathing becomes a shallow pounding in your ears. You glanced forward, where the full length mirror was sitting and stared at your reflection with critical gaze.
You brought a hand to your face, it was so dull. Your eyes had dark circles and were puffy. Your lips weren't plump enough. Your eyes weren't big enough. Your body wasn't curvy enough. You only had brains. No, you didn't! You weren't special, anyone could do your job with enough practice. You were nothing out of the ordinary.
You were snapped out of your destructive thoughts as your phone was snatched out of your grip. You whipped your eyes to the perpetrator and a very furious Natasha glared back at you.
"What did I tell you about not checking your social media?" Natasha asked, enraged as she waved your phone in her hands.
You didn't want Natasha to be proven right so you scoffed and replied. "Telling someone not to do something will only make them do it more. Haven't you heard of reverse psychology, agent?" You snarked and Natasha shook her head in displeasure.
"You coming with me?" Natasha asked.
You paused to think and then shook your head. "Let me shower first. I feel dirty and sleepy."
Natasha nodded thoughtfully and said. "Okay, I'll stay here."
You whined in protest but quickly shut up after receiving a steely glare fron the black widow which would make even the toughest villians pee their pants. You showered, taking extra long as you got distracted by your thoughts yet again. And made your way to the living room with Natasha in toe.
And you heard it before you saw it. The annoying voice of one of the most famous conservative journalist as he said that Steve Rogers could do much better, that this relationship wasn't going to last and that he wished it won't last long.
The last part made your stomach churn in uncertainty.
The pattering of footsteps alerted the other avengers of your arrival. Tony and Steve were standing next to each other as they talked in hushed yet aggressive tone.
Tony looked annoyed than ever as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. While, Steve? Steve looked like just one poke and he would snap. His jaw was clenched, his eyes were ablaze as he stood taut.
Both of the man's gaze snapped towards you as Steve's face softened and he rushed towards you, blocking your view to the TV as Tony hastily turned it off.
"You finally done sleeping, sleepy head?" Steve asked affectionately as he caressed you cheek.
You hummed absentmindedly and forced a smile on your face. "Slept like a baby." You said and the air was so thick with tension that it was strangling you more than your own mind as no one dared to talk about the elephant in the room.
Eventually, Steve cleared his throat and said in a whisper. "You already know what happened but don't worry, I'm with you." And pulled you into his embrace. Yes, why are you with me, Steve? What do you like in having to deal with all this drama when you could date any white woman and keep the peace?
You tried to reciprocate his hug but it was a half hearted attempt as you were fixated onto something else.
"Yeah, don't do anything stupid." Sam said when you and Steve parted. His face was empathic and knowing and your heart broke at that. Still, you gave him a half smile.
"Hey! That's my line!" Bucky yelled in offence, making Sam scowl at him.
"You don't own a sentence, Buchanan." Sam countered.
"Don't call me that and I would copyright..." They kept bickering but you tuned them out as the seed of doubt started sprouting in your consciousness.
📷
But it only got worse. The hate just didn't stop and everyone was piling up on you. Indians did come to your defence, questioning the racism and the unrequited hate you were getting.
But some were also interrogating you. Why were you dating captain America? Why were you flying so high? That he may just be using you and would leave you for an American sooner or later. This sentiment was also shared by your relatives.
Your parents were on your side but you could sense that seeing you get attacked was upsetting them. You put up a brave face in front of the world but you were crumbling down from the depths of your being. You were falling down an abyss and no matter how hard you shouted for help, your mind didn't let up its torment.
You didn't tell the avengers or Steve because they was already so stressed out dealing with all this fiasco. He was so distraught that he didn't even notice you withdrawing from him. He didn't notice how you slept on the edge of the bed instead of in his arms. He didn't notice that you avoided mirror like a plague. He didn't notice how you were drowning in your minds stupid tricks.
That was until it boiled over.
It was a quiet evening. You were walking back to the compound after running some errands. Apparently, Indian species were hella expensive and hard to find in there so you shopped for them by yourself. And it was also because you liked these non-eventful and tranquil moments that you had reserved for yourself.
You were absentmindedly trudging forward as the compound just entered your peripheral when a shout jolted you out of your trance like state.
"Go back to your country!"
You whirled around, only to come face-to-face with a regular white man. Seriously, he didn't even look like a Kevin or intimidating, just run of the mil white guy, very easy to blend in the crowd.
You raised your eyebrows and exclaimed. "Excuse me?"
The man tutted and took a step forward, you taking a backward step. "Didn't you hear me? I said, go back to your country."
"This is getting old. Try something new." You said with a bored voice and crossed your arms on your chest.
"Seriously, first you take our jobs then resources and now our hero? Just because you don't have anything in your country, doesn't mean you should come running to us and mooch off of us." He ranted with a grunt.
"Why? You wanna date him?" You eyed him from head to toe. "To my knowledge, Steve is straight and even if he wasn't. I don't think he would date someone like you." You snided.
His jaw ticked as he took a step forward. "You don't deserve him!" He spat.
Yes, you don't deserve him. Your mind supplied as your grip around the shopping bag loosened.
"He deserves better." Yes, he deserved better.
"You are nothing." Yes, you were nothing.
You were so hypnotised by your minds scorching affirmations that you didn't see the approaching threat.
You yelped as your back hit an electric poll, grocery bag falling on the ground. The man lunging forward for an attack but before he could even lift his hand, a punch from his left side shoved him away and he landed on the ground with a pained grunt.
You let out a shuddery breath as you slowly glanced to your left, your whole body trembling with fear. Your eyes landed on Steve standing there, panting heavily as his knuckles were painted crimson, by whose blood? You didn't know. His eyes were ablaze and his face was murderous as he began charging towards the whimpering man on the pavement.
This snapped you from whatever demons were holding you as marched towards him and shrieked. "Steve, stop!"
You stopped in front of him and wrapped youur hands around his. He halted in his steps, his face instantly softening as he unclenched his fists and dropped his offensive stance. He cupped your right cheek and you spluttered out a sob.
You glanced down at his bloody knuckle and coked out. "Steve, let's go."
He glanced behind you at the whining man and then nodded. He tucked you in his embrace while your gaze never left his knuckles. This was all your fault. Because of you, he almost lost control of himself and if he would have done something then you would have also smeared his name. Maybe it was good to end things.
📷
The room was pin-drop silent, only the sniffling of you and Steve and the clinking of the first aid kit being shut closed reverberated through the walls. Steve had started to talk as soon as you left the man writhing on the cold sidewalk but one finger of yours on his lips and he shut up, accepting your silent plea of solace. But you couldn't push back the inevitable any longer.
You lifted up the first aid kit and set it inside one of the cabinets in the bathroom. When you came back, you sat down on the coffee table ahead of Steve and peered at him through your lashes, your heart breaking when your gaze landed at his pretty face. You would miss him.
It was Steve who spoke first. He intertwined his bandaged hand with yours and softly said. "I'm sorry, you are suffering so much because of me and I'm sorry I wasn't able to protect you."
Swallowing, you looked down as tears beaded your eyelashes and muttered out. "I think we should break up, Steve. It's not working out." Saying those words was like stabbing yourself in the chest with a scorching knife.
Steve instantly stiffened and his grip on your hand grew tight as he refused to let you go. "Why?" He asked and before you could reply, his bitter laugh made your head snap upwards as he shook his head.
"Why am I asking this? This should be pretty obvious to me," He sniffled as few tears slid down his cheeks. He glanced at you and you had to bite your lip to hold back your own tears as his pained and misty eyes stared into yours. "Is there nothing I could do to change your mind? To make you give me a second chance? Do you not love me anymore?"
The last part was like a slap to your face as you furiously shook your head and yelled. "I love you with all my heart, body, mind and soul. I love you more than anything in this world, more than I could ever articulate."
"Then why are you leaving me?" He asked in a whisper.
And the flood burst gates open as you broke down. "BECAUSE I DON'T DESERVE YOU."
Steve immediately placed you in his lap as sons wrecked through your body. "Why would you say that? You deserve the world, doll."
"No Steve, no! You are Captain America and I'm nothing. You are gorgeous and I'm ugly. You are perfect and I'm not." You cried into his chest, selfishly seeking his warmth.
Steve jutted your chin upwards and gazed down at you with soft offense. "No, honey. I'm not perfect, I betrayed Tony, I have done so many things that I regret. I have cried in your arms multiple times and you have seen me vulnerable." He said through his own tears.
"But you are so pretty. You should be dating a model or an actress, not me."
"Who like me for being Captain America? No way and," He held your face in his palms and continued. "You are the most beautiful, most intelligent, most amazing woman I have ever met. I won't trade you for anyone."
"Then why I doesn't feel like it, Steve? You asked in a defeated whisper. "Why can't I see myself the way you see me?"
"I can help you look at yourself like I look at you. Please just, don't leave me. I can't live without you. We can survive this storm." He murmured softly kissed your sore eyes.
Your lips quivered as you brought your hands to Steve's face. "I want you, Steve. I want you so much but holding you feels like a sin."
"And holding you feels like a dream. A dream I thought I would never have," He said quietly and gently pressed his forehead with yours. "Just give me another chance. Give us another chance."
"Okay." You replied. Your sobs had ended and draped a heavy blanket of fatigue over you in their farewell as you melted into Steve's hold and Steve snuggled in you more. You didn't know when he placed you on your bed or when you fell asleep in his arms. You let yourself fall into his bliss as all the demons left you. Because in this moment , Steve was yours and you were his and that was all that mattered.
📷
You yawned as you got out of your slumber. The bed was cold again as Steve was nowhere to be found. Again.
Maybe he realised you were right and moved instead of kicking you out. You sniffed a little and turned around, so you were facing the front of your room. But your face instantly scrunched up in bewilderment as you took in the sight.
There were polaroid pictures hanging from the ceiling by a white thread, all facing away from you. You scratched your head as you tentatively got out of the bed. How the fuck did someone hang these and you didn't even stir? Was this from hydra?
The last thought made you gulp as you gingerly reached out for the first picture and pulled it close to read the text written on it with a marker.
Do you remember the time when you handled the toughest project alone?
-Tony
"Huh, what?" Now you were even more confused as you flipped the glossy paper and burst out into a fit of laughter.
It was a picture of you handing Tony a golden toilet trophy like you were handing an Oscar with a megavolt grin as he was rolling his eyes but still, he begrudgingly received the award.
You wiped off a tear from your eye and refocused back on his question. You hummed to yourself as you took a trip down the memory lane. It was a very important biotech project and there had come a point where the connection between the software and hardware had broken and no one could figure why because everything was normal and nothing seemed faculty. It turned out to be a software issue as the code had malfunctioned and needed to be rewritten in a more efficient manner.
You led the team who did that and boy were those days exhausting. Overtime, frustration, failure after failure and of course the moral of the team going down. But you managed to keep the team together and pulled through. Providing excellence.
You smiled a little at that memory. You weren't that useless.
Sighing, you stepped forward to the next picture and read the text on it.
Remember when you got hit on and Steve scowled?
-Natasha and Wanda
You turned the photo around, showing you, Wanda and Natasha. You and Wanda were eating a leftover cake while Natasha was drinking wine straight from the bottle.
You remembered that night. You were minding your own business and not touching alcohol since you didn't want to wake up with a pounding headache. when a guy suddenly materialised next to you and ordered a drink for you without even asking and began flirting.
You smoothly pulled yourself out of that situation and gave the drink to Natasha but Steve had witnessed the whole interaction and he looked like he wanted to sucker punch that poor dude. He was teased relentlessly about it for a month.
Now that you thought about it. You were hit on multiple times on multiple occasions. It was a game of sorts between you and Steve. Since your relationship was private, it was amusing to see people ask you or Steve on a date. You always relished in watching girls flirt with Steve because he would always get uncomfortable and nope out of there like his life depended on it. It was fun because no matter how much they flirted with him, you knew that the man was yours.
You chuckled and caught a glimpse of your reflection in the mirror. You weren't that bad looking.
You walked up to the next polaroid and snatched it closer.
Remember when you comforted me when everyone was sleeping?
-Bucky
Your eyes filled with tears as you flicked to see yours and Bucky's image, it was clicked during lockdown when everyone stressed a lot about cleaning everything. You were pretending to sing with a cleaner bottle in your hand as a microphone and Bucky was using a broom as his guitar.
With a reminiscent smile and you thought back to that one stormy night when Steve was out on a mission and everyone was sound asleep.
You being the insomniac that you were started trudging towards the kitchen for some late night snack but stopped mid-way when you heard whimpers coming from Bucky's room. You went inside without asking but saw him crying alone in his bed. He was so resistant to your comfort and even yelled at you for intruding on his privacy: but he was right about it. However, he caved in the end and cried his heart out while you held him. Then you both watched anime and ate chips. Sleep was nowhere to be found that night.
You bit your lips as you went to the last and final picture, that was dangling before the door.
Remember why I love you?
-Steve
You burst into tears as the realisation dawned on you that it was he, who did all of this. To make you see yourself through his eyes and everybody's eyes. And no, you didn't remember why he loved you because there were too many moments and reasons to remember all that once.
Warmth bloomed in your chest as you finally looked at the picture and it was just like your relationship. Sweet and simple. With you both in the bed, hair messy and lazy smiles on your faces. It was a morning selfie that you taken sporadically on his phone.
You loved him. You loved him so much and you wanted to be with him till the end of the line. Because even if you were just a regular jane, you loved him and he loved you and that was all that mattered.
In your whirlpool of emotions, you didn't register the the bedroom door clicking open and Steve walking inside. It was when his strong arms enveloped you, did you got out of your reverie and glanced at him, teary eyed.
You hugged him back and wept louder in his chest as he rubbed your head. "I love you. I'm sorry for telling everyone about what you were going through but I thought it would help, please stop crying."
You slapped a hand over his lips and cried out. "Shut up. You lovely little dork. I love you. You did nothing wrong in my eyes."
With hope twinkling in his eyes, he removed your palm and asked. "So, will you give us another chance?"
"Yes! This one incident won't make my problems go away in a snap but I want to be with you and learn to love myself like you love me." You said through a smile and leaned to kiss him when-
"What about the trolls?" Tony's voice made you shriek in surprise as Steve gave him an exasperated look.
"Really, Tony?" Steve said with displeasure.
"Yeah, really asshole?" Natasha said and slapped Tony on the head.
Tony scrunched up his face in indignation and said. "But I need to know. She's not used to the attention and hate. And she can't even deactivate her social media because she is one of our representatives from tech."
This made a bulb go off in your head as you held up your plam and said. "Don't worry, Tony. I'll have it handled. Plus, we didn't really publicly announced our relationship, did we?"
Steve narrowed his eyes at you but you just grinned at him devilishly. Time to troll the trolls.
📷
You softly closed the bathroom door as you stepped outside, your white saree grazing the floor. You looked ahead and your jaw went slack, Steve was his blue powder blue shirt and black pants and his blonde hair practically glowed in the golden light of the evening. He looked so gorgeous that you just couldn't tear your eyes away from him.
But then you realised his intense stare on you and you quickly looked down, heat raising to your cheeks. "Stop, staring, it's creepy."
Steve let out a throaty chuckle and said. "I can say the same thing about you."
You opened your mouth to reply but the Bucky's exasperated voice interjected with a grunt. "You both can do this later. Now, come on before the sunsets and the light is gone." And harshly thrusted his phone in the direction of the door.
You chuckled. "Alright, let's go." Steve held your hand as you both walked outside the compound and into the evening sun. After, finding a place where the background was greenery instead of a concrete jungle. You perched on his Harley. Your hand snaked around his neck as his came down to rest on your butt while he stood in the middle of your legs and both came forward to kiss each other.
Bucky clicked the picture but Steve didn't let you go until the need for oxygen became dire. You smiled bashfully and wiped your mouth as you finally got off his bike and went to the very unimpressed Bucky.
He shoved your phone into your hands and ran away before he had to endure any of your pda any further.
You shrugged it off and looked at the photo. Thankfully, it was good and you gave Steve a thumbs up before posting it with a caption:
I corrupted the golden boy and I'm not sorry 😈
Steve also posted the same picture but his caption was more modest:
My love ❤
And. It. Blew. Up, again.
The haters and racist started whining again. Sane people supported you both and laughed at the haters, going as far as making memes. You were trending again, many famous people also came out of the woodworks and congratulated you both which made you roll your eyes.
You didn't care about the public thought of you. You wanted to troll the haters and you successfully accompanied that.
However, it didn't end there. As your devil incarnate friends decided to add fuel to the fire by posting pictures of you and Steve being all over each other with a complimentary middle finger emoji. And apparently, everybody had one.
Either you two were pervs Or your friends were nosey as fuck. Natasha and Bucky agreed with the former assumption.
Bucky posted you both kissing on a picnic.
Natasha of you sitting in Steve's lap.
Sam posted a photo of your head resting in his lap.
Heck, even Peter posted a photo where Steve was kissing your temple.
There were many more but you that was enough for the day as you switched off your phone and tossed it on the bed side table.
"I just wish, no pray that my parents don't see any of these pictures or I will be having an interesting phone call with them. The relatives are still blasting my phone but I ignored them as always." You rambled to Steve as he slid under the covers.
Steve let out a raspy chuckle and said. "I don't think they haven't seen it yet as we're all over the, well everything."
You groaned and pouted at Steve because he didn't need to always tell the truth but as soon as you locked eyes with him you melted in his oceanic blue gaze. He pulled you into his comforting arms and you happily obliged.
"Steve, now that the whole mess is kinda resolved. What's next?" You asked as you gazed into his sapphire blue eyes.
He hummed and gazed back at you. "What's next? Good question, but I don't think you want to hear the answer to that. Would ruin the fun. " He whispered and leaned down to kiss you before you could question him further.

Steve Rogers Fic
I wrote this fic because Chris Evans was declared People's Magazine World's Sexiest Man and it's been a year. I can't believe I only got around to finishing it now.
Tumblr media
Y/N’s home could only really be called a villains lair.
It’s high cavernous walls; the gothic spires that towered over the lot; the human-sized gargoyles that lined the dark roof; and the dark exterior cut an imposing figure against the backdrop of the grey sky meeting the even greyer sea. It was perched high above a cliff, carved into the very stone of the mountain.
The frigid salty wind that bellowed from the sea had rain slapping against Steve’s suit, darkening it’s blue leather. He hated the miserable weather, the dark grey sky and the pelting rain reminded Steve of memories of the war that he would rather sooner forget.
But right now, he couldn’t care less.
His feet slapped against the gravel, taking him up to the foyer of Y/N’s home. The large oak doors of her home were slammed shut and Steve found his hands rapping against the wood. He could almost imagine the sound echoing around the cavernous house, up towards Y/N’s room.
Steve knew Y/N didn’t get many visitors and so his presence was an anomaly to her.
She had a sordid reputation after all, one that had her painted as an enemy of the Avengers.
But right now, Steve didn’t care about that.
In fact, all Steve could care about right now was Y/N.
“Y/N, open up!” He banged against the solid doors once again, his body a live wire of buzzing energy and adrenaline begging to be released.
He was met with silence.
The rain was beginning to pelt harder against his body, the wind howling in the distance.  The storm was a big one, the biggest of the year if the news was right. Worry and panic seized Steve the moment he heard, his heart thrumming loudly in his throat. Y/N didn’t live in the friendliest of environments and though he knew she would loathe Steve for caring about her, he couldn’t help it.
“Y/N!”
Still no response.
He could break down the door. She’d hate him for sure but she’d always hated him. At least this way, he knew she was okay.
“Y/N, I swear—“
“Rogers?”
Her voice had been swallowed by the wind and if it wasn’t for his exceptional hearing, Steve wouldn’t have heard her lovely voice.
The relief that seized him nearly had his knees buckling to the ground. He spun, meeting Y/N’s E/C eyes, wide with surprised and confusion. Despite the hard sleets of rain that continued to rain down, she was perfectly dry, not a strand of hair out of place. Her face was perfectly made up, her lips painted a beautiful red, rouge streaking her cheeks. She looked wonderful and alive.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Y/N didn’t sound as furious as she usually did, simply confused. As if seeing Steve standing in her front door had stunned her to silence.
Steve didn’t care. He reached for her, relieved to find her hard and solid beneath her hands and not some ghostly apparition.
“There’s a storm,” Steve panted, eyes locking to Y/N’s own E/C ones, “biggest of the year. I-I thought… I wanted to make sure you were okay.”
Her eyes fluttered in surprise. “You… you wanted to see if I was okay?”
Steve nodded, unabashed. He was glad to see that she was fine and there was no hiding the relief that had him straightening.
He knew he wasn’t suppose to care about her. She was the villain and he was a hero. He was suppose to hate her, capture her right now for whatever nefarious scheme she was no doubt plotting to take down the Avengers.
But he didn’t care about that right now.
He didn’t care about their roles and he certainly didn’t care about what his teammates would say or what other people would say. Right now, all he cared about was her.
Y/N seemed to hesitate before she pushed past him and opened her heavy front door as easily as if it was made of plastic.
A roaring fire was raging in the hearth of her living room, the smell of cookies baking in the oven like an invitation to Steve, begging him to enter through the threshold.
“Why don’t you come in?” Y/N said softly, waiting by the opened door. “Maybe wait for the storm to settle before you leave?”
Steve looked down at his sodden clothes, at the fat drops of water that dripped to the floor. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. I might ruin your furniture.”
Y/N stretched out her hand towards him, her fingers hovering above his face. A strange warm sensation enveloped Steve, like a blanket had suddenly been wrapped around his shoulders. Steve looked down, his clothes suddenly dried. His hair, that was once plastered on his forehead, was now dry and fluffy and not a drop of water splashed on his shoes. In fact, even the puddle that had steadily gathered around his feet had been wiped cleaned, lightening the once dark wood. Magic was strange but there was no denying its benefits.
“Come on in.” Y/N stepped aside, her face impassive.
Despite racing here upon learning of the raging storm, Steve hesitated now. He’d never been inside of Y/N’s home and though their relationship was more or less antagonistic, it felt strange to have her invite him to her sanctuary. He felt like an intruder, rifling through Y/N’s innermost secrets in the hope of gleaning information to use against her in their next confrontation.
Thunder rumbled loudly above their heads followed by a flash of lightning that briefly illuminated Y/N’s features. She was peering at him through her lashes, her lips pursed as if she herself was unsure she should let Steve in. He wondered if she’d turn him away now.
Instead, she further leaned into the door, opening the entrance even wider. “I don’t bite. Well, I don’t bite hard. So come on in before I magic you into a deep sleep and you can have Stark kiss you awake.”
The smell of cookies continued to waft through the opened door and that was enough to convince Steve to get in.
He felt warm almost immediately, the chill that had previously gripped him suddenly chased away by the magic in the atmosphere. The smell of melted butter further saturated his nose, the warm fire raging in the living room permanently removing the chill of the outside world.
“Shoes off,” Y/N said as she removed her own shoes, placing it neatly on the shoe rack by the door.
Steve followed suit, desperately trying to remove the feeling of awkwardness that seized him.
Y/N walked into her home, not bothering to wait for Steve to follow her.
Despite the imposing exterior of Y/N’s home, the interior told a different story. It was warm and inviting, the walls painted a rich green and covered with beautiful paintings. Red velvet furniture was scattered all about the space, the most notable being the large floor-to-ceiling bookshelves that covered the right side of the room. It was filled with books and different sculptures decorated the empty spaces. There was even a medieval suit of armor between the shelves. There was a staircase to the left, leading to what Steve could only assume was the bedrooms. A lush carpet was laid before him, covering the whole expanse of the room.
Steve followed Y/N, who’d walked through the a door next to the fireplace.
The smell of baking cookies intensified, causing Steve’s mouth to water. He’d always  had a bit of a sweet tooth and even now, in the presence of his enemy, he couldn’t deny the pang of cravings.
Y/N led them to a modern kitchen, one that was vastly different from the living room they’d just left. There was a kitchen island in middle with white leather seats lining the side and even a breakfast nook big enough for eight people towards the right. There was a TV on the farthest wall of the nook, turned off and quiet. The panels of the countertops were a gleaming marble, the walls painted a pretty light blue. There were two refrigerators, wide enough to fit at least two people inside and no doubt fully stocked with cooking ingredients and snacks. One of the counters was occupied by an espresso machine, as fully stocked as a busy cafe with equipment Steve didn’t know the name of scattered around the side. The stove was set on the other side, with eight burners set against shiny metal. There were two ovens below it, one of it lit and where no doubt the smell of baking cookies came from. There was a bookshelf to the side below the TV, filled with different cookbooks and some in languages Steve couldn’t understand. While the living room was warm and slightly dark, the kitchen was all light, the walls covered in windows that let in plenty of light even with the dark grey sky.
“I’m sorry for the mess. I wasn’t expecting guests,” Y/N said, the words coming out almost stiffly. An apron magically appeared around her waist and she got around to continuing whatever it was she was doing before Steve got here.
In truth, Steve wasn’t sure where the mess was. The kitchen was clean and pristine without even a speck of dust floating in the air. He wasn’t sure what to say so he stayed silent, his eyes roving around the space.
“Anything you prefer to drink?” Y/N said just as the oven dinged. She pulled open the door of the oven and with the use of her powers, telekinetically moved the hot tray of cookies towards the kitchen isle. “I make a mean cup of coffee. Or if you want some chocolate or tea, I can make those for you too.”
“Coffee sounds great,” Steve said with a slight smile, pushing aside the awkwardness. It was strange, he thought, that the only pieces of conversation Steve ever had with Y/N was when he’d captured her or when she was monologuing her villainous plans or when she was behind bars and was too tired to escape, choosing instead to make idle conversation with Steve.
“You can take a seat, you know,” Y/N gestured at one of the stool in the kitchen island and Steve watched in wonder as what seemed like invisible hands pulled the stool, giving him space to take a seat.
Steve didn’t even hesitate. He took a seat on the stool and silently watched as Y/N used her powers to move the cookies to a cooling rack. An almost white glow seemed to envelop the cookies as they slowly moved from one tray to the next. She moved assuredly, her eyes trained in concentration in the task before her.  “How do you like your coffee, Rogers?”
Steve paused, a little surprised by the question but he wasn’t really sure why. She’d already offered to make it for him. Why should he be surprised that she would make it to his liking? “To be honest, I’m not sure.”
At that, she stopped. Her eyes snapped to his face, her brows furrowing in confusion. “You don’t know what kind of coffee you like?”
“Well back then our only option was black. No cream or sugar because of the war. There’s all these options now and I’ve never really got around to exploring them before.”
With the way Y/N stared at him, it was a miracle a hole hadn’t burned through his forehead.
“Why don’t I make you my go to coffee order so you can give it a try? You aren’t allergic to anything, right?”
“I’ll have whatever you’ll have. I was allergic to whole bunch of things before the serum but I’m not anymore.”
Y/N simply nodded silently before walking towards the espresso machine and grabbing ingredients from one of the massive fridges. Cartons of milks and bottles of syrups flying out of the fridge in a neat conga line, swaying this way and that.
“I’m a little surprised you didn’t know that I wasn’t allergic to anything,” Steve said, his words trailing off. Y/N was smart, a certifiable genius who could wield magic more effectively than Steven Strange. She wasn’t nearly as powerful as Wanda but there was no denying that she’d give the Scarlet Witch a run for her money if the situation called for it. Steve had expected that Y/N would learn everything there was to know about the Avengers, especially since they were her enemy.
“I did know you weren’t currently allergic to anything,” Y/N said, her words almost indecipherable over the loud din of the brewing espresso. “It would have been rude of me not to ask so I did.”
Oh.
Well, Y/N was nothing if not impeccably well mannered.
She turned to him then, her gaze pure unbendable steel as her eyes locked to his. “Steve, what are you really doing here? I haven’t done anything remotely villainous for the past few months.”
“I told you, the storm.” Even his words sounded feeble in his ears.
“You expect me to believe that you came all this way to, what, protect me from the hurricane? My house is reinforced by magic, Rogers. Nothing can harm me while I’m in here. Not rain, snow, tsunamis, earthquakes or hellfire. And I know you know that. And if what your saying is true and you wanted to warn me about the storm, I’m suppose to suddenly believe that you, what, care about me? So why are you really here?”
The urge to tell her that he really did care about her fought its way out of his throat, scratching and biting and screaming as he struggled to push it back to whatever box it crawled out of. Feeling anything but antagonism for Y/N was a recipe for disaster, one that had the word DOOM spelled out all over it.
The truth is, they were two very different people. Or, at least, Steve desperately hoped that they were different.
He was a good person. He didn’t need a super soldier serum to tell him that he was a good person.
But calling Y/N a villain wouldn’t have been fair to her.
She was so much more.
When it came to Y/N, the lines were always blurred. Even when she did terrible things like murder people, you couldn’t bring yourself to feel bad for any of the people she’d killed because they themselves were monsters. And when she did good, it was far better than any goodness Steve had done in his life. Y/N had been known to heal children sick with cancer, permanently purging their diseases from their bodies. She’d helped protect rape victims and domestic abuse survivors by giving them protective charms.
But because of her methods, because she’d never been afraid to kill and hurt in order to achieve her goals, she’d been labeled a villain.
Her personality changes were enough to give Steve whiplash.
Still, Steve couldn’t deny the obvious attraction between them.
The first time the Avengers had captured her, she had been in a gleeful mood. Almost manic. She’d succeeded in assassinating a high profile senator who was running for the presidency and while his profile was clean cut on the outside, his assassination broke the news that he wasn’t as good as he claimed to be. He’d profited off of a sex-trafficking ring, selling girls as young as 4 to shady buyers looking for slaves. There’d been signs of torture and mutilation on his body and with the way his blood drenched Y/N from head to toe, it was clear she’d felt no remorse for what she’d done.
Steve almost didn’t want to arrest Y/N then and in truth, a part of him had been relieved when she’d escaped her cell. The whole team had silently agreed to not answer any of their phones when she’d initially escaped. Even Nick Fury had agreed to put his phone on silent.
After a week, Y/N was sighted in Madripoor freeing the captured women. The lives of a thousand women in exchange for one horrible, greedy man didn’t seem like a hard exchange in Steve’s eyes. When the Avengers finally arrived on the scene after several pitstops involving coffee, donuts and ice cream, Y/N went with them willingly only after she confirmed that the women would be fine, giving each of them a protective charm that helped them sleep better at night despite the traumas they’d endured.
After that, she’d stretched out her arms, ready for the power-dampening handcuffs that Tony had designed specifically for her. She’d done with an almost gleeful smile on her face, humming an unfamiliar song. Despite the soot, the blood and bruises that marred her pretty face, she was the image of pure contentment.
“Don’t even think of escaping, Y/L/N,” Tony had said as she clasped the manacles around her wrist, the technology whirring to life with a little beep. “With these little guys around your wrist, you can’t use a single iota of your powers.”
She’d smirked at Tony then. “Very bold of you to assume I need magic to escape.”
Steve and Natasha had taken it upon themselves to escort her to her prison cell with the rest of the team staying behind to ensure that all the freed women would be okay.
“You know, I’m almost rooting for you,” Natasha said with a wry smile.
“Almost?” Y/N asked incredulously.
“Scratch that. I am rooting for you.”
Y/N smirked. “I’m a huge fan of yours, too you know. It’s not everyone who can defeat a giant purple alien hellbent on destroying half the universe’s population.”
“What can we say? All in a day’s work.”
“I hope there isn’t any hard feelings between us when I do eventually escape from these restraints.”
“That’s going to depend on how hard you hit us.”
“I’ll try not to throw a punch.”
Y/N eyed Steve on her right, who had been quiet during the whole exchange. “He looks sturdy though. I’m sure I can take both of you in a fight even with my hands tied behind my back. Well, with my hands tied in my front, rather.”
She did manage to escape that time.
One moment she was sitting at the back of the Quinjet, the very image of regality and the next, the manacles were off her hands, with the Quinjet’s hangar opened as she jumped out of it, the whole interaction happening before either Steve or Natasha had even unbuckled their seat belts.
Neither Steve nor Natasha were eager to run after her.
The second time the Avengers captured her, Y/N had paid a visit to a suave businessman who’s whole appeal was his efforts to Go Green!
As it turns out, the only green he was after was money.
Y/N had leaked the news, telling the world about how the businessman’s green message had been nothing but a sham. He’d burned down whole forests to cultivate land in order to create cocaine that he could serve to the masses, exploiting young boys by turning them into dealers and addicts.
Y/N had leaked the story to the press, telling the world about how the businessman’s whole green message was nothing but a lie. Not only was he burning whole forests down to fuel his greed, he’d been doing it to plant cocaine plants, enough to get the whole northern hemisphere high on his supply. It was lucrative business and he’d exploited young boys by forcing them to work in the factory, forcing them to get high to keep them subservient to him.
She’d gone after the businessman first, sending a message to the world that his hypocrisy wouldn’t be tolerated. She hanged him, dangled his body over the side of his company’s skyscraper in New York then proceeded to free the boys stuck in his factories around the world before cutting down the cocaine farms and replanting new trees.
With the businessman’s shady dealings all over the world, it had been difficult to track down where she’d strike next. Not that the Avengers were actually eager to capture her.
Strangely enough, Bruce would find himself immensely hungry before they had to fly to wherever in the world Y/N was in and it didn’t do well not to feed the Hulk.
They’d finally captured her in a tiny island off the coast of Mexico, the last of the businessman’s strongholds. She’d freed the boys, cured them for their addiction then cut down the cocaine plants. Then she sat down and waited for the Avengers to arrive.
“Took you guys long enough,” Y/N had said as Steve and Natasha walked towards her. She stood up, dusting off her pants.
“Scott drank a lot of orange juice on the way here. We had to make a lot of pitstops.”
Y/N frowned at them. “I distinctly remember that your jet had a restroom.”
“Plumbing was broken according to Tony,” Steve said with a shrug.
She made a noise of assent before she put up her arms. “Alright, I’m ready. Let’s go.”
“Put your hands down. We aren’t going to cuff you.” Natasha led the way to the Quinjet where Scott Lang and Bruce Banner waited.
“Oh, pulling out the red carpet for me?” Y/N batted her eyelashes, almost flirtatiously. “You shouldn’t have.”
“If I had my way, you’d be in cuffs,” Steve huffed under his breath.
Y/N raised a challenging brow. “Not a fan of me, Steven?”
“I’m not a fan of anarchists,” Steve retorted.
“Anarchist,” she repeated with a pleased grin. “I like that. Never been called that one before.”
“Steve,” Nat said in a warning tone.
The group had already discussed the whole Y/N situation. While majority of the Avengers thought that while Y/N’s actions were brutal, ultimately, the end results and her intention was good. Even if it resulted in the death of one evil soul, none of the could deny that her actions ended up saving hundreds, if not thousands, of lives.
She may not have taken down a giant purple alien hell-bent on wiping out half of all living beings, no one could deny that her actions saved others.
Still, Steve didn’t exactly approve of her methods.
“Listen, I get it,” Y/N said as their group ascended up the Quinjet, occupying one of the empty seats and giving Bruce and Scott a greeting nod. “I’m not exactly conventional but sometimes, it takes breaking the system to help others. You can’t help the survivors if they were victimized by the very system created to protect them.”
“I’m just saying there are proper channels—“
“No there aren’t. There are no proper channels for people like them.”
Steve frowned. “Who, the oppressed?”
“No. Them. The rich and powerful bastards who constantly use their money and resources to take advantage of people. There is no justice when it comes to them.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Don’t I?” Y/N turned to Scott, who watching the exchange between her and Steve with rapt attention. “Lang, weren’t you imprisoned for grand larceny?”
“It was one time,” Scott sighed, “and I didn’t steal that money for myself. I gave it to the people most in need.”
“Right, and how many years did the CEO you stole from spend in jail for stealing from his employees?”
“None,” Scott replied, almost quietly.
She turned back to Steve. “See? The system is broken and sometimes the only way to make it work is to smash it completely to bits.”
He’d ignored her then and it didn’t take much effort for her to escape them.
“Oh daaarn,” Natasha said sarcastically as her hands pulled at the accelerator, taking them further and further away from where Y/N landed, “we can’t exactly turn back now. Might as well go get some ice cream while we’re at it.”
They met again after the death of a high-profile serial killer. Because the serial killer work in law enforcement, he got off easy and he was released after 10 years in prison despite the fact that he’d killed 23 families, roughly 100 or so people. No one was spared, not women or children or even babies.
When he got off, Y/N was there to make sure he never hurt anyone again.
“He could have changed!” Steve yelled, his voice bouncing around the Quinjet. He was alone with her this time, having rushed to the scene of the crime. “He could have become a better person.”
“He could have,” Y/N said quietly, her unblinking eyes trained on open sea in front of them. Steve wasn’t sure where he was flying the Quinjet but he’d be damned if he brought Y/N back to US soil. She’d be met with handcuffs as soon as she lands and it wasn’t Y/N he was worried about. Anyone who tries to arrest Y/N would end up in the hospital. “I’m not willing to take that chance.”
He glanced at her. Y/N’s face was passive, a stoic facade as hard as stone but her eyes were soft, the sadness and pain in her eyes unmistakable.
“When you can do the things I can,” she whispered, her voice so low, Steve strained to hear, “when you’re cursed with powers like I have, you have two choices. You can either lash out at the world or you can do something to fix it. Any person that man would have killed after he was released, their blood would have been on my hands.”
“You are not responsible for other people’s actions,” Steve said, his previous anger leaching from him.
“You’re right. But I am responsible for my own. Now where are you taking me? If you’re not entirely sure, you can drop me off in Australia. I have some business to attend to.”
“What business?”
“Not that you care but the leader of the Russian mafia is staying there for vacation. That man and his operation has killed hundreds of people. I’d like to pay him a visit. I can portal my way there but using the Quinjet means I have a few minutes to rest my eyes.”
The right thing to do would have been to bring Y/N back to the States to answer for her crimes. Instead, Steve turned the plane around and headed to Australia. And as Y/N slept soundly, he ignored the vice-like grip of the anaconda that constricted itself around his heart.
They landed in Australia after a few hours and he watched as Y/N stretched her body against the seat. “That has to be the best sleep I’ve had since… well I hardly remember.”
“Go,” Steve said, his voice harsh. “Before I change my mind.”
But Y/N did no such thing. Instead she lounged against the seat as if it was her throne and she its lazy queen. “You know, when Natasha or even Tony let me go, I understand their motives. Tony doesn’t trust the legal system and Natasha could have been one of the women I saved in another life. But you? Don’t you have a stick up your ass the length of a stripper pole?”
Steve bristled at her words but kept his mouth shut. His eyes were narrowed into slits as he watched a wry smile pull her lips.
“So, what, Steve? What’s the play here? You really want me to kill this guy? Why are you letting me go?”
“There are a lot of people who deserve to go to jail. You aren’t one of them. What you do with your freedom, that’s up to you.” His words were the truth. She looked at him with an expression he couldn’t really place and for a single second, it was as if a silent agreement passed between them. But the moment was gone and Y/N conjured up a portal and sashayed away.
That was three months ago and any and calls Steve heard regarding Y/N, he’d ignored. He ignored her when Y/N went on a prison break binge, releasing small time drug offenders and helping cure them of their addiction; he’d ignored her when she’d leaked the financials of big pharmaceutical companies, causing their sales to tank and for the price of insulin to go down; he’d ignored her when she’d saved hundreds of women in another sex trafficking ring.
Except now, today. He’d heard reports from Nat, who decided to keep in touch with Y/N on the down low, on Y/N’s location and he ran here. Now she was looking at him with the most perplexed look on her face.
She turned, once again busying herself with making his coffee.
“I’m surprised you aren’t using magic to make the coffee,” Steve said.
She shrugged. “I like making it by hand. Reminds me of simpler times.”
She set the steaming mug of coffee in front of him before grabbing a small plate and setting a few pieces of the freshly baked cookie in front of him. The coffee was still hot enough to hurt his mouth but Steve didn’t hesitate to take a sip. He’d had worse injuries than a burnt tongue.
The coffee was delicious. It was sweet, sweeter than he was used to but still delicious. The cookie, on the other hand, was something else entirely. He half suspected that maybe Y/N had sprinkled some kind of magic potion on the cookie because it was the best damn cookie he’d had in his life. The outside of the cookie was soft but the inside was gooey, the butter saturating through every nook and cranny. It melted on his tongue, the dark bitter chocolate and sweet butterscotch encased in a tango of flavor that danced on his tongue.
He briefly wondered if it would be polite to ask Y/N if he could bring home the entire tray.
“Good?” She asked, taking a sip of her own cup.
“This is the best cookie I’ve had in my life.”
She smiled at that. “Thanks. It’s an old recipe.”
Mundanity with Y/N was weird but strangely nice.
“So what are you really doing here, Steve?” Y/N asked as she took a seat in the stool next to him.
He took another sip of the coffee, buying himself some time. “To be honest, I’m not sure.”
She raised an eyebrow. “You’re not sure why you’re here? Radio silence from the Avengers for three months despite the crimes I committed and then all of a sudden, Steve Rogers grants me a house call.“
When she put it that way, he sounded ridiculous. But the words he’d spoken were the truth.
Instead, he shifted the subject. It was all he could to escape from Y/N’s scrutinizing gaze anyway.
“Right before we got to Australia, you said something,” Steve said the words slowly, hoping not to scare Y/N off by his line of questioning, “you said you were cursed by your powers?”
Steve had been mulling over her words for the better part of three months, taking it out like a precious pearl to examine on his quiet days. He couldn’t make heads or tails of it. All he knew was that her words were strange. Y/N was a gifted magic user and Stephen Strange had often commented at her adept ability at it. It took people years, centuries even, to gain the level of mastery Y/N had when it came to magic and yet she used as surely as she breathed.
Why would she refer to it as a curse?
Y/N raised a brow, almost in challenge. “You’re telling me the Avengers haven’t figured it out?”
Y/N usually spoke in riddles and though it always frustrated Steve, he was also incredibly patient and so his next words came out even. “Figured what out?”
“My powers. I thought Steven Strange would try to figure me out the moment I came on to the scene.”
“He tried. Well, still trying. It frustrates him, y’know. How he can’t find answers to you.”
She grinned at that. “Alright then, I’ll give you the answers to me. Then it’s up to you if you want to tell him or not.”
“Why do you think I’ll keep everything you say to myself?”
“Because you’re Steve Rogers. And you came here, to me, in the middle of the biggest storm of the year, to see if I was okay. I doubt the others know and I’m pretty positive you wouldn’t tell them. So whatever information I say here, right now, you’ll keep to yourself.”
She was right. Of course she was. Steve figured Y/N was rarely wrong about anything.
“Alright. Go ahead. How’d you get your powers?”
“I was cursed with it by a god.”
She said it so seriously, Steve struggled to figure out if she was telling the truth.
“Why do you say it’s a curse?”
“Well the god who cursed me said that as the years past, I will become the most powerful magic wielder to exist. My powers will magnify tenfold, twentyfold and one day, I will become so powerful, I’ll have the ability to take over entire universes. Problem with that is magic always comes with a price and mine is my conscience. Every time I use my powers, my conscience becomes blacker until finally, it becomes a void inside of me.”
“So when you use your powers—“
“A piece of me dies with it and is reborn into something I don’t recognize. It’s why I do what I do.”
Realization dawns on Steve. “You do your own twisted version of good to remind yourself you can be good.”
She gave him a wry smirk tinged with bitterness. “There’s no place for me in Heaven, Steve. Only Hell. But when I get down there, I’m taking as many as I can down with me. Assuming I can die, that is.”
“You’re immortal?” Steve said with a frown.
“Well, according to the god that cursed me, I will not age and I will never get sick. Though, I imagine that if I was stabbed through the heart and someone finds a way to stop me from using my powers to heal myself, I’d die just like any other human.”
She gave him a pointed look, one that Steve shifting in his seat uncomfortably.
“If you want to use my weaknesses against me, go right ahead, Rogers,” Y/N said nonchalantly before taking a slow sip of her coffee. “I’ll even stand still while you plunge a knife through my heart.”
“I don’t have any intention of killing you.” And it chilled Steve to the bone to find out how much he meant those words.
“Bummer.” And Y/N looked genuinely disappointed.
“Hey,” Steve said sharply. “Life is a gift. You shouldn’t—“
“Can it, Rogers. I don’t want to hear that right now,” Y/N said but there was no malice in her voice. She just sounded tired.
Fine. If she didn’t want to discuss it, Steve was more than willing to change the subject. “You never said why the god gave you your magic.”
Y/N let out a cynical chuckle. “He was in love with me.”
“What?” Steve asked, not quite believing her words.
“The god. He was in love with me. I turned him down. Repeatedly, might I add. He got so fed up by my rejection, he decided to curse me with immortality and power. He said that one day, when I get bored with my life, it will drive me to his arms. I intend to live forever without ever thinking of him again just to spite him. And when I gather enough power, I’ll kill him myself. He can take away my humanity but he can’t take away my hatred of him.”
Steve couldn’t stop his smile. Y/N’s story was sad, incredibly so. He couldn’t imagine the profound loneliness that stretched before her. Centuries, maybe even a millennia of isolation and solitariness to spite a vengeful god. But she’d succeed, Steve had no doubts about that. He couldn’t picture anyone squaring up with Y/N and coming out of it victorious on the other side.
“So, what do we do now, Steve?” Y/N said with a slight sigh.
“What do you mean?”
“Well you broke a boundary. We never explicitly said it but I think we both decided to keep each other at arms length. I’ve been chummy with Nat and Yelena up to a point but not you. Back in Australia, I think we both agreed that our relationship will be strictly professional, even if we never really said the words out loud. But now, you’re here. What do we do about that?”
“I don’t know.”
Y/N simply sighed before taking a sip of her coffee. “Every morning, when I wake up, I find myself looking for reasons to get out of bed.”
“What are you doing?” Steve said with a frown.
“I celebrated my 100th birthday last (birthday month). I love to read. When I get bored, I write poetry. I love music though I was never talented enough with it but I do have centuries to learn now so who, knows, I might start. I love art too. I’ve been everywhere in the world and yet I never fail to visit a museum to see their art. I like sad paintings. The kind that can bring people to tears.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
She looked at him like he was the biggest idiot in the world and the answer should have been obvious by now. But Steve knew how to look past the arrogant veneer and see the vulnerability that swam in her eyes. “I’m going to live forever, Steve. And even if I’ll always remember other people, I won’t always be remembered. I figured, it’d be nice if someone knew some things about me. The last person I knew from my old life, she recently died. As humans, we are the people we know. I want someone to know me, even a little.”
“I miss music from the 1940s,” Steve said, not even thinking about the words. “Sam and Nat have both been trying to update me about the music of the decade but nothing beats my music. I like wearing converse because it’s one of the few things that never changed since I woke from the ice. I don’t like the rain. It reminds me too much of the war. There’s a boxing gym I use to go to back in New York. I never had a chance to box before because I was always too sick but I use to accompany Bucky whenever he had a match. When I was injected by the serum, I never had a chance to go back and so when I woke up from the ice it was one of the first places I went to.”
“Was the gym still operational?”
“It’s a little run down but I make it work.”
She smiled at him and Steve tried to ignore the jolt of warmth that shot down his spine.
“Why are you telling me these things?” She asked, an eyebrow raised in question, a playful expression beginning to bloom from her face.
“Friends know things about each other.”
And then Y/N’s face lightened like the sun peeking from the clouds after a storm, all warmth and joy.
The rain. Steve hadn’t even realized it had stopped. He glanced at the window behind Y/N and saw that the day looked almost as bright as Y/N’s smile.
“You need to go, don’t you,” Y/B said a little wistfully.
“Yeah,” Steve said, a little wistful too. He finished the cup to the dregs letting its sweet flavor fill him up til he was sure he’d be able to taste it until he got home.
Y/N led them out of the kitchen and back to the living room before she opened the front door and let him out.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Y/N,” Steve said as he pushed his sweaty hands into his pocket.
“You will?” She said, surprise laced in her voice.
“You said you struggle to find reasons to wake up in the morning. I’ll be a reason to. Friends do that, you know.”
“I know,” Y/N said but without her usual bravado. She looked almost roseate and Steve suddenly realized how strange it is that despite the fact that he’s seen her many times before, he never realized how pretty she was. As if a sudden burden had been lifted from her shoulders, making her look younger than actually was. “I’ll see you tomorrow, Steve.”
“See you tomorrow.”
And she closed the door.

hi! this is me begging for some fluffy, protective steve rogers please 🥺🙏🙏
fluffy and protective are my 2 favourite words
steve is protective by nature; even before he was a super soldier, even before the war, even before everything. he lost his parents young & had no one to provide for him, so it's exceptionally important that he doesn't leave his loved ones in the same position.
he looks out for you in every way - making sure you've eaten, had enough sleep, drank enough water, etc - but his strongest instincts lie in protecting you from his job. whether it's an enemy that wants to get through you to him, or maybe you even work together in the field. whatever it is, you can bet your ass that his priority is ensuring your safety.
it's nothing overbearing, and if you tell him to back down, he will, but steve has you do little things so he knows you're safe. you both have life360 on your phones, you text each other when you're home safe and he runs you through code words that you can use to text or call him when you're in danger.
but, knowing his job, and yours too if you're on the team or at shield as well, something is bound to go wrong at some point. maybe you get kidnapped - and obviously he finds you quickly - or you get injured on a mission. hell, even if it's just a close call and steve thinks you're in danger??
he's raining hell on everyone and everything to get to you. there's no resource that he will not abuse. any other mission, task or meeting he had that day is canceled and he's unreachable until he knows you're safe.
although, it does take a gentle warning from sam & bucky that calling the president on his private mobile at 3am is a little too far (and also a reminder that calling the british prime minister would be useless)
when steve does find you, he's not gonna leave your side for a while. he's crossing the room in seconds, taking you in his arms and not saying anything for a moment. he just has to hold you, to breathe you in, to really it sink in that you're safe and you're home.
good luck if you need to pee that night, cos getting a super soldier off of you is a task in itself.
he's behind, one arm under you and the other across your torso, holding you tight with his neck buried in yours. his grip on you only tightens when you to wriggle away.
it'll be a few days before he strays away; mostly for fear of it happening again
but you remind him of how quickly he found you, and that you're safe if anything else happens
to which he asks "are you saying this because you're planning on getting kidnapped again?"

The moment that Steve opened his eyes, Seren was right beside him holding a cupcake with a lit candle in her hands. He closed his eyes again and let out a light chuckle.
"Straight to the point," he mumbled in the midst of his laugh. He cracked one eye open and looked up at Seren. "Good morning."
Seren was grinning from ear to ear and was quite loud when she wished him 'happy birthday!'. "You'll of course have a decent birthday cake later but for right now, how's about an old fashioned birthday cupcake?" she said and offered him the cupcake.
"For breakfast?" Steve raised an eyebrow at her as he sat up. "Breaking the rules…"
"Mm, I'm willing to make an exception today — it is your birthday, after all. Happy birthday, lovey. May you have plenty more years in your life." She leaned over and pressed a soft kiss on his lips. "And I mean like hundreds more…"
Steve's expression at the number was priceless and he was very clear afterwards that he was not looking to live for hundreds more. "I'm 106 already, sweetheart. It's not about the quantity but the quality of life instead and without you, there's not much quality in my life." He took the cupcake from her hands, blowing out the candle.
"You didn't make a wish," Seren pointed out, her cheeks still flushed from his words.
"I did in my head," Steve said, taking a bite of the cupcake. "This is delicious, by the way."
"Thanks, I made them earlier," Seren said, and at his look she explained she had gotten up much earlier than him. "I couldn't sleep," she shrugged. She wiped a finger over the cream of the cupcake and popped it into her mouth.
"I hope you're not sleep depriving yourself for me," Steve said. "I don't need anything today, Seren, I told you."
"Why must you be oh-so-high-and-mighty about a simple birthday party?"
Steve chuckled at her disgruntled face. "I'm not—"
"Yes, you are!" she exclaimed. "What is so wrong about wanting to celebrate your very existence!?"
"Nothing, sweetheart, but I just don't want you stressing out over something that doesn't have to happen. I don't need anything," he said and reached a hand on her cheek, "But I do very much appreciate your intentions. So, what can I help you with?"
Seren hummed as she thought for a second. "Well, I pretty much have everything ready, just some last minute pick-ups in the afternoon."
"Of course you do," Steve playfully rolled his eyes. "Then I guess all I have to do is make myself look presentable, right?"
Seren nodded at him. "Make yourself look very pretty, please. Not that I think you'll have a lot of trouble with that."
Steve threw his head back and laughed. If he ever needed a boost of confidence, Seren would always be the one for the job. She had absolutely no trouble with it.
~ 0 ~
Throughout the whole day, everyone in the compound was wishing Steve a happy birthday and making comments about the upcoming party in the evening. Seren had been planning it for weeks now and had roped each member into doing certain tasks for her. Chloe, Wanda, Pietro and Vision were in charge of decoration considering they had probability, telekinesis, speed and flight on their side. Natasha and Thor were to supervise them because they were more than likely to get into arguments on the job — they were also meant to blow balloons somewhere along the way. Tony was in charge of music — a self proclaimed position, unfortunately and something Seren couldn't persuade him to leave alone. Bucky had the job of distraction, and he wasn't very good at it (Steve thought this because he had told him 5 minutes into a conversation that was his intentions for the day).
"So where the hell is my girlfriend?" Steve demanded to know when four o'clock hit and he hadn't heard a peep from her. She was small, yes, but still explosive. She should have been in communication with him at some point already.
Bucky, who had also self-proclaimed himself in charge of the alcohol at the party, was deciding between two wine bottles. "I think I should get the most expensive one, right? I mean, it doesn't really matter for us but it would be funny to see Chloe get drunk and make a fool of herself."
Steve rolled his eyes at the grinning face his best friend had on. "I'm gonna go find Seren." He was only halfway towards the door when Bucky called him back.
"C'mon, Steve, let her do whatever she needs to do. She's put her whole little hybrid heart into this shindig." Bucky set the wine bottles on the island and motioned Steve to pick one. "Personally, I think beer is better but apparently we need to have a variety of options for the guests."
"Who is even on this guest list, anyways?" Steve asked out of curiosity. He walked back to the island and looked over the two wine bottles.
"Not a lot of people," Bucky said honestly. "Seren said she was keeping it small for you."
Steve smiled to himself. She knew him so well.
"So, which one?" Bucky presented Steve with two more bottles for him to choose from.
Before Steve answered, a gust of wind blew in and suddenly Pietro Maximoff was ransacking the fridge.
"Which one of you took Wanda's lemonade? She'll kill whoever took it." He shut the fridge door with a huff and turned around, his face lighting up at the sight of the wine bottles. "Never mind!"
"Hold it," Bucky pointed at him. "Last time I checked, you're not 21 so go get a juice box."
Pietro rolled his eyes. "But I will be soon and I should be compensated for my troubles back there. Between my sister and Chloe, it's a miracle I haven't lost my mind already."
"Yeah, yeah, back to work," Bucky shooed him off.
"They're horrible," Pietro reiterated. "Especially Chloe and her bossy—"
"I'd watch your words about my girlfriend," Bucky cleared his throat and pretended to examine the ingredients of a wine bottle.
"Just take a water bottle, Pietro," Steve suggested kindly and sent the speedster on his way. He shook his head. "I think I'm gonna go—"
"Do I need to tie you up or something to keep you here?" Bucky put the wine bottle down and stared at his best friend sharply. "If you go and mess up Seren's schedule, she'll come for my ass and I don't feel like dying today. I feel like wine tasting, actually…"
Steve rolled his eyes and raised his hands in defeat.

He made himself look very nice — pretty — and was downstairs at the prompted time, according to Bucky. The party got started very smoothly and it was honestly fun, but Steve was worried. Seren had not shown up and what's more, she hadn't sent him any message nor called.
That wasn't like her.
Steve couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong. Nobody else seemed to think the same. Bucky's selection of drinks was a hit and so was the music — it was a party. The food was good, the drinks were good, the people — his friends — were all so kind and well wishing. Steve really appreciated everything they all had done for him but he couldn't enjoy any of it until Seren arrived.
And she didn't.
An hour turned into two.
Finally, Steve decided he had to do something. He went to find Chloe and cut her dance with Bucky short.
"No, I haven't heard from her," she told him. "Is she — is she not here?" She looked around the party, her senses slightly off with her amount of drinks.
"No," Steve shook his head. "And I know Seren would message me — or you, even — if she was going to be late."
Chloe thought the same. "Maybe she texted Nat or something."
"Or Stark," Bucky suggested. "Stark told me Seren had called in a favor from him for something for, uh, you?"
Steve went to go find Tony while Chloe and Bucky went for Natasha. When Steve found Tony, he cut straight to the chase. His heart was starting to hammer in his chest as the minutes went by and he knew nothing of Seren.
"No, she hasn't called me," Tony said. "She was supposed to be in about an hour ago."
"Where did she go?" Steve said urgently.
"I can't tell you, it was a surprise," Tony shrugged. "She made me swear it."
"I don't care — she's not answering anyone's calls! Where is she, Tony?"
Tony was still hesitant to answer. "I…look, if she finds out that I ruined the surprise—"
"Stark!" Steve snapped. "I don't care, alright? I want to know where she is so that I can go to her and make sure she's okay! Damn everything!"
"Steve!" Chloe exclaimed as she rushed towards him. "We found her! Well, Bucky found her, but we got her!" Steve immediately went to look for her in the party but Chloe told her she wasn't with them. "Don't freak out — Seren's okay — but she sort of, may have, had an accident…"
But of course, Steve's first instinct was to freak out. "What!? Wh-where is she? What — what happened!?"
Chloe once again reassured him that Seren was okay, but her words meant nothing to Steve until he could confirm with his own eyes that Seren was okay. She dragged him out of the party and into the hallway where Bucky was waiting for them.
"Bucky, where is she?" Steve went straight to his best friend, his face filled with anguish. "Where's Seren? Please, where is she?"
"Calm down, calm down," Bucky said, grabbing Steve by the arms. "She's fine! She's here — well, she's coming here. She'll be here soon."
Steve looked at Chloe, confused. "I thought you said she had an accident?"
"She did," Bucky re-confirmed. "But she's totally fine. I don't know exactly what happened, Seren wasn't very specific. She's being brought over by the medics — she literally forced them to discharge her and she's being brought over so calm down."
"I-I gotta go pick her up — I gotta go—!" Steve made two steps forward before Bucky blocked his way. "Buck, I need to see her!"
"I get that but there's no point! She's already on route here! She'll be here in 15 minutes, man! You're gonna miss her if you leave!"
Steve begrudgingly stopped pushing against Bucky. "What happened?" he demanded again.
"I don't know, Seren didn't tell me. She was quick — she was scared of the whole medic thing so she told me to be ready."
"Why did she call you?" Steve asked all of a sudden. "Why didn't she — why you?"
Bucky knew better than to fall for the jealousy trick. "She didn't. She called the compound and FRIDAY patched it through. I answered the call. You need to calm down before you see her. You're gonna scare her more than she already is."
The idea of adding more fear to whatever Seren was already feeling made Steve finally stop and take a breath. He needed to make sure that she was okay but he couldn't do that if he was going to make it so that she wasn't okay.
Fifteen minutes later, they were at the entrance of the compound waiting for Seren to finally arrive. Thankfully, in a few minutes, they saw a car pulling through the entrance and met it halfway.
Seren was trying to push her way out even before the car had stopped. She really didn't want to be anywhere near the medics. She practically fell into Steve's arms jumping out of the car. Steve took the chance immediately to check her out. She was dressed to the nines for the evening but there was a large gash running down her right leg.
Steve picked her up bridal style and left Bucky and Chloe to tend to the people Seren had come with. He ignored her assurances that she was fine and her pleas to calm down, bringing her straight to the medbay.
"I'm calling Helen," he said firmly and with no room to argue. Helen was the only medic in the world whom Seren could trust in. Luckily, she was one of the attendees of the party and so it was fairly quick getting her down.
"I'm fine," Seren told Helen as the woman examined her leg. "Just a small accident."
"Doesn't look small," Helen hummed. She was cleaning out the lingering blood on Seren's skin. "What happened?"
"Yes, what happened?" Steve waited impatiently to hear the answer. "And don't lie, please."
Seren groaned and explained that she had been struck by a car trying to push someone else out of the way. "All I did was fall — I've had much worse and you two know that!"
"It doesn't mean I can't worry," Steve told her, frowning. "I didn't hear from you all day. I knew something was wrong."
"Well, it looks superficial," Helen remarked, "But definitely something that'll take a few hours to heal even with your super healing."
"Why is it so big?" Steve said, his voice no longer angry but filled with concern.
"It was the car," Seren told him. "The license plate hooked on my skin. Hurt like hell but definitely not something I needed to go to the hospital for. It took me forever to get to my phone. That's why I couldn't call and even when I did, I just had to call the quickest number. I thought you would be having fun at the party so I didn't want to ruin it. I failed, obviously."
Helen smiled at the couple. "I think this is where I leave. Seren, the stitches will fall out when your skin starts closing on its own but you should be fine."
"I am fine, Helen," Seren reiterated.
"But you still won't be dancing tonight, I'm afraid. And no getting off the bed either, except for the restroom and even then you're going to need help."
"I got it," Seren sighed. "Thank you, Helen."
"Of course," Helen nodded and left the two alone.
Seren leaned her head back on her pillow. "As far as birthday parties go, I am the worst at planning them. I ruined your day, Steve. I'm so sorry."
"You're joking," Steve said flatly. "You have to be joking."
"What?"
"I'm going to pretend that you didn't say any of that stuff because you did make an incredibly great party and you got hit by a car." Steve pulled a chair beside her bed and sat down. "But I was so worried when you didn't show up and you didn't answer my calls."
"I'm sorry, lovey," Seren sighed. "I swear it was supposed to be something quick."
"What were you even out doing?" Steve asked.
"Getting you your present, what else?" Seren reached for his hand and curled her fingers around his. "It was the last thing on my to-do list and by far the most important one." No sooner had she said that when she gasped and started looking around urgently for her bag. "No, no, no, no, no! Where's my bag!? Where's my — your present was in there!"
Steve was quick to push her back down when she made to get off. "Absolutely not!"
"Steve, I left your present in that car!" Seren struggled with Steve's hands gripping her wrists.
"I don't care about any present—"
"It was important!"
"Well, this is a promising sight," Chloe's voice froze the couple in their spots. She looked up at Bucky beside her then. "If you ever fight me like that, know that I'll blast you."
Bucky rolled his eyes and pushed her a few inches to the side. "Anyways, we came to deliver." He held up Seren's bag in his hand. "You left it back there."
"Oh my goodness," Seren breathed out in relief. "Bucky, I love you, thank you!"
"Hey now," Chloe flashed Seren a faux sharp look, "That's my line."
Bucky handed Steve the bag who then handed it over to Seren. She thanked him all over again.
"Should we tell them upstairs that the party's over?" Chloe asked.
"Yeah," Steve immediately said, gazing at Seren. "I won't be going back anytime soon."
"No, you totally should," Seren said, frowning. "It's your day."
"And you're my girl. That's way more important. Besides, how can I go to a party that you made without you?"
"He's got you there," Chloe shrugged. "Tell you what," she reached over for Bucky's arm and tugged him back with her, "We'll go back and keep the party going in honor of you."
Steve snorted. "Oh, really?"
"Chloe's got the right idea," Bucky nodded very seriously. "We'll save you some wine. Let's go!"
They could hear Chloe's laughter even as they disappeared into the hallway.
Steve went after them and closed the door. "No more interruptions. You need to rest."
Seren smoothed out her dress as best as she could and lamented the way their evening turned out. "I am so sorry, Steve."
"Sorry for getting hit by a car? You have to be joking," Steve chuckled and walked back to her bedside. "I'm just glad that you're okay. You have no idea what I was feeling earlier. Please don't disappear on me like that ever again."
"I wasn't planning on getting hit by a car but you know how 4th of July is. It's full of crazy people — even crazier than on regular days." Seren scooted on the bed and patted the spot next to her. "Speaking of, the fireworks will probably be starting soon and it's no balcony but the window's pretty big."
"That it is," Steve agreed and gazed at the windows. The sky was already being lit with fireworks from a good distance, only leaving soft noises of the cracks. Soon, they would be much closer. He sat down beside her and gave her a kiss on her forehead. "I did love your party, by the way. Thank you."
"I'm glad you did," Seren said, "I wanted it to be perfect for you. I'm sorry you can't enjoy it anymore. I really don't mind if you want to go back, you know."
"I know, but I don't want to go back. You're here and I always want to be next to you. And you know what? My wish that I made this morning was to spend my evening just with you."
"Well…how about you at least open my present, then?" Seren reached inside her bag to pull out a wrapped present for him. "I think you'll like it."
"I think you're right," Steve said and took it from her. He was careful to unwrap it and soon found the makings of a frame. He expected it to be a picture of them — he wouldn't mind one more for their bedroom — but he found something very different instead. The picture was old from Time but the face was young…
"I, uh, I got Tony to help me out with all the permissions and stuff," Seren explained during the silence. "I thought you should have it."
"It's a picture of my mother…how did…how did you even find one?" All Steve had from his mother were his memories and a few sketches of her that he had made. As far as he knew, there was no tangible proof that his mother had ever existed.
"With a lot of work," Seren admitted and smiled. "But worth all the work to see that face." She leaned up and kissed his cheek. "Happy birthday. I owe you one birthday cake."
Steve was very, very, careful with the frame as he set it down on a table beside the bed. There were no words to encompass all the feelings in his chest. Even now as he gazed at the frame, he couldn't believe he was actually staring at a picture of his mother. His sweet and beautiful mother.
"You will never have to buy me another birthday cake," he said and turned to face Seren. "Not with this kind of gift." He cupped her face and tilted her head up to kiss her. "You are officially given a pass for the rest of my birthdays."
Seren chuckled. "You don't have to exaggerate, lovey. I'm glad you liked the present. It was totally worth getting hit by a car."
Steve's face fell flat and yet she giggled like it totally hadn't happened at all. Thankfully, the closer fireworks started and they cuddled to watch them through the windows. It was then that Seren admitted she had also had some doing in the fireworks for him.
Steve couldn't believe it and yet at the same time he did because it was something very her — trying to make him feel so special. "You're amazing," he murmured against her hair and peppered a few kisses, earning various giggles from her.
A/N:
Happy birthday to my boy ^.^

“Stop making up your excuses!” Bucky groaned, looking over at his childhood best friend. Sam laughed knowingly, taking another sip of his protein shake as they all sat on the bench from training. Steve wiped his sweat away with the towel, shaking his head at the two. He denied the accusations that he had feelings for his friend but these two had spent years with him now - they knew him inside out, aware of when he was lying. “Call her up, tell her you forgot something.” Sam suggested, Steve furrowing his eyebrows in confusion. He sat down, sipping his drink. “Why?” he huffed, not aware of their ideas. The two stared him, knowing he rarely spoke to them and when he did, almost made a fool of himself. “Okay, okay.” he surrendered, picking up his phone.
-----
“Nat, stop it!” Y/n groaned, Natasha sat opposite and laughing as she watched her blush, her phone buzzing and Y/n picking it up straight away. “Is it him?” Natasha teased, Y/n ignoring her as she read the notification that appeared on her phone.
Missed call from Steve (1)
“Nat, be quiet for a second.” she ordered, hushing her best friend as she raised an eyebrow. Y/n called him back, the phone ringing a few times before he finally picked up. “Steve! What’s up?” she asked, holding up a middle finger to Nat as she wiggled her eyebrows at her. “Y/n, hey, uh...I think I left something at yours when we all hung out, do you mind me coming to find it?” he asked, Y/n confused as she didn’t remember anything being left. “Oh! Uh...of course!” she assured, Steve sighing on the other end and some whispers being heard that she couldn’t figure out before she heard a slap.
“...Steve?” Y/n asked, holding in a laugh as she heard Bucky’s voice in the background. “Yeah? Oh, sorry! Just uh Bucky and Sam being annoying as usual.” he laughed awkwardly, scratching his neck. “I’ll come by later if that’s okay?” he asked, Y/n humming in agreement. “Yeah, that’s good! I’ll see you later then Steve.” she grinned. “See you later, Y/n/n.” he bid goodbye, hanging up.
------
Steve knocked on the door, it almost opening instantly. “Hey.” Y/n greeted, Steve smiling softly at her. “Oh, uh, come in.” she gestured, stepping to the side as he entered, closing the door behind him. He walked into the living room, Y/n gasping. “Hang on a second, I’ll go get your jacket - I found it earlier.” she smiled, Steve nodding and feeling relieved that he genuinely did forget something. While he waited, Sam and Bucky’s words repeated in his head, reminding him. “It's worth more than you are thinking, Steve! Don't be a fool, tell her you think she's cool!” Sam exclaimed.
“Capsicle, nice to see you here.” Tony grinned, taking a drink of his mug. “Tony.” he responded, nodding his head at him, ignoring the knowing smirk he gave him. Luckily, he saved by Y/n walking back over, glaring at her brother. “What did you say?” she huffed, raising an eyebrow at her brother. He put his hands up in defence shaking his head. “Nothing, nothing.” Tony defended, winking at them as Y/n rolled her eyes at him and dragged Steve out of the room. “I’m sorry about him.” she sighed, handing the jacket to him. He chuckled and shook his head. “No, no, don’t worry.” he assured, pausing for a second. “I was uh wondering if...” he paused, a lump in his throat as he tried to get the words out. Y/n pressed a hand to his arm, squeezing it.
“It’s just me Steve, no need to be so tense.” she smiled, he nodded. He cleared his throat before trying again. “Do you want to come out with me tomorrow? There’s an ice rink in the city and I was thinking we could go?” he asked, remembering the plan. He froze as they didn’t respond instantly, feeling like a fool. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make it awkward and you’re just really cool-” he rambled as they laughed, cutting him off as he tilted his head. “Of course, Steve.” they assured, mirroring the smile that was on his face as they walked to the front door. “Pick me up at two?” she asked, Steve nodding. “Sounds good.” he assured, standing outside. She leant up, pressing a kiss to his cheek as he reddened, silently thanking the cold weather as he walked away from the door. “Hey, Steve?” they called, making him turn around and looking at her.
“For the record, I think you’re pretty cool too.”
----
“Stop waiting for a fairy tale to take you away, don't wait for someday.” Bucky lectured, Steve sighing at his friend’s words. “You waited last time and look what happened. Don’t let it happen again.” he comforted, patting his shoulder before heading out of the kitchen. He heard murmurs in the hallway, sitting back down and eating his food. “Hey.” Natasha greeted, walking in behind him. He nodded at her, taking another bite of his food. “You know, she’s thinking the same thing as you.” she exposed, Steve looking at her in confusion as to how she would know. “I’m her best friend, I know everything about her and besides - it’s not hard when you both constantly ogle at each other.” she teased, laughing at his darkening face.
“Why haven’t you told her?” she pestered, Steve sighing as he placed his empty bowl into the dish washer. “Nat, as much as I trust you, it’s not worth me possibly ruining my friendship with her.” he sighed, the red head sighing at her friend, seeing the pair were both as bad as each other. “Don't be afraid, dreams aren't found they're made.” she said, grinning as he rolled his eyes at her cheesy words. “I have an idea, Steve.” she spoke up, catching his attention. “Tony’s throwing one of his Christmas parties, pull her aside and then confess.” she shrugged, Steve chuckling at the simplicity of her tone. “I’ll try.” he gave in, Nat happy with the answer.
----
"You’ve only got one chance.” Sam taunted, looking at his best friend who he’d walked in with. “Yeah, yeah, okay.” Steve ignored, waving his hand at him while he looked around, searching for her. “They’re over there, most likely.” Bucky grinned, pointing at Nat who was stood in a group, shaking her arm and Y/n now waving at Steve. His face lit up, waving back and making his way over. “Hi.” she giggled, looking up at the soldier who towered over her. “Hello, y/n/n.” he responded softly, taking her hand and twirling her as her dress skirt spun. “You look amazing- not that you don’t every day of course-” he rambled, cut off by her loud laughter. “It’s okay, Steve. You look pretty good tonight too.” she returned, Steve scratching his neck and both their cheeks heating up and taking sips from their drinks. They had accidentally matched, both wearing a subtle navy blue (most likely Natasha’s and Bucky’s work).
He finished his, placing it down on the bar next to them while she finished hers, standing up and holding his hand out to her. “Care to dance, m’lady?” he joked, Y/n taking his hand and standing up. “Of course, sir.” she carried on, Steve leading her to the dance floor. “Is this okay?” he asked as he placed is hands on her waist. “It’s more than okay, Steve.” she whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck and placing her head on his chest while he put his on top, swaying as the slow song finished, a more upbeat one coming on that he recognised. He looked over at Bucky, referring to the music as he nodded and playfully rolled his eyes. “That’s not important! Kiss her, you fool!” he mouthed back, Steve nodding and cheeks reddening yet again.
He pulled away, grabbing her hand and twirling her, making her gasp before sending her into a fit of laughter. “S-Steve! Warn me...next time.” she got out in between her laughs, Steve grinning at her. “What was that? Do it again?” he grinned mischievously, Y/n’s face widening as they heard what he said over the music. “Steven Grant Rogers, don’t you dare!” they warned, more laughter escaping as he twirled her, this time dipping her down at the end. “Steve.” she mumbled, Steve raising an eyebrow. “Kiss me.” she said, the soldier smirking before leaning down, connecting their lips together and missing the $20 Tony handed to Bucky.
“It’s about damn time.”

Y/N sat quietly in the passenger seat, staring at the bouquet of lilies in her lap. The flowers felt like a formality—something to soften the evening she wasn’t looking forward to.
Ethan sat beside her, his jaw clenched, hands resting on his thighs, his posture as stiff as ever. For all his calmness, she could sense he was bracing himself.
“Y/N,” Ethan’s voice broke the silence.
She blinked, her thoughts momentarily scattered, her gaze still fixed on the lilies. It took a second longer than usual to process what he had said. “Yeah?”
Ethan frowned, but he continued. “We need to talk before we go in,” he said, his tone more serious than usual. “I’ve been working on something—a real way out of this. But you need to hear me out.”
Y/N shifted slightly, feeling a twinge of discomfort at the edge of her thoughts. Had she already asked him something about this earlier? Her mind had been playing tricks on her lately, short gaps in memory that made conversations blur.
“Well?” she asked, trying to push through the fog.
Ethan exhaled slowly, collecting his thoughts. “You already know we can’t just break it off out of nowhere. You know how your father is. This isn’t just about us—it’s about public perception, about politics. The media is already watching his every move, and if we do this wrong, it’s going to backfire. For both of us.”
Y/N frowned, her fingers fidgeting with the ribbon on the bouquet. She tried to focus on his words, but her thoughts slipped away like they were caught in some strange, sticky haze. She blinked hard, as if clearing her vision would clear her mind.
“You keep saying that. But what’s your actual plan, Ethan?”
“Okay, here’s what I’ve mapped out,” Ethan said, shifting slightly to face her more directly. “We can’t break it off right now—not with the event coming up. Your father is going to introduce you to the public for the first time, and we need to maintain a united front for that. There will be too many eyes on him, on us—actually. . . this plan might be crossing some dangerous territory but trust me.”
Y/N’s frustration simmered, but she let him continue.
Ethan leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. “After the event, we create a slow, controlled narrative. We start appearing together less in public. Gradually, we let it slip to key people that we’re focusing on our careers, that we’re ‘growing apart.’ It won’t be sudden. It’ll be gradual, subtle. The public will buy it because we’ll be feeding them a story that makes sense.”
He paused, gauging her reaction, but Y/N’s expression remained unreadable.
“So after the event,” she said slowly, “we pretend like everything’s fine for a little while longer? And what dangerous territory are you talking about?”
“Huh? Did I say that? Ignore that and just trust me,” Ethan replied, his tone firm but calculated. “It’s all going to work out, I'll tell you more during the event.”
Y/N’s eyes narrowed. “And what about the engagement itself? What do we say about that?”
“We make it seem amicable,” Ethan continued. “We’ll say it was a mutual decision to step back.”
Y/N sat back, her mind racing as she considered his words. “And what about my father?”
Ethan sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “That’s the tricky part. Your father won’t like it—at all. But his is where the dangerous part comes in.”
Y/N’s fingers tightened on the bouquet as she considered his plan. “What dangerous part? You said it won’t be scandalous.”
“It won’t be on our part but this is necessary. If we’re strategic, we control the narrative. So what do you say?”
Y/N let out a slow breath, her mind spinning. Ethan’s plan was cold, calculated, but it made sense. He wasn’t asking her to be patient for nothing. He had thought it through—every angle, every move. Still, the idea of keeping up the façade for a while longer felt suffocating.
“We’re running out of time,” Ethan added quietly, as the car slowed in front of the White House gates.
Y/N stared out the window at the imposing building, the weight of her father’s expectations pressing down on her. She didn’t want this, didn’t want to keep playing this game. But Ethan was right—this was bigger than them now.
She sighed, nodding reluctantly. “Okay.”
Ethan gave her a tight smile. “I promise. Just a little longer.”
As the car pulled up to the entrance, Y/N took a deep breath, gathering her composure. Ethan offered his arm as they stepped out, the bouquet still clutched in her hands like a shield. She glanced at him, knowing they were about to walk into another performance.
× × × ×
The Avengers were gathered on the terrace, enjoying a rare evening of relaxation. Tony manned the grill with exaggerated flair, flipping steaks while bantering with Clint, who was attempting to sneak food from the grill.
“Clint, if you steal one more piece of steak, I’m revoking your Avengers membership,” Tony warned, eyeing him as he flipped another steak on the grill.
Clint smirked, holding up his hands in mock surrender. “Alright, alright. But if you burn that one, I’m taking it.”
Clint grinned, pretending to hold up his hands in surrender. “I’m just quality-checking for you, Stark, in case you burn one. Consider it a service.”
“Please,” Tony said, waving his spatula, “I don’t burn anything. Ask anyone.”
Happy, standing nearby, raised an eyebrow. “That’s a bold statement, considering what happened with the burgers last summer.”
Natasha chuckled from her seat at the table. “Yeah, Tony, we all remember the ‘crispy’ burgers.”
Pepper walked out of the house, smiling as she set a basket of bread on the table. “I’m surprised you all still let him near a grill.”
“Hey!” Tony protested, “My grilling is top-notch.”
Peter, who was seated between Clint and Sam, leaned forward, grinning. “Well, I mean, if this doesn’t go well, there’s always takeout, right?”
“That’s the spirit, kid,” Tony said with a wink. “Now, everyone, prepare to be amazed.”
As the group continued to banter, passing around plates of appetizers, Thor raised his goblet of mead. “I must say, this meal is already fit for a king!” He took a long drink and slammed the goblet on the table, making Peter jump.
Bruce looked amused as he sipped his drink. “Thor, you’ve had three goblets already. Maybe slow down?”
“Slow down?” Thor laughed heartily. “Nonsense, Banner! This is a night for celebration!”
“Celebration for what, exactly?” Natasha asked, her eyebrow raised.
“Does a man need a reason to celebrate among friends?” Thor replied, grinning.
Sam chuckled. “You’re always celebrating, Thor.”
As the steaks were finally placed on the table, everyone dug in. Clint immediately went for the biggest piece, earning a glare from Tony.
“Steak thief,” Tony muttered under his breath, shaking his head.
Clint smirked, cutting into his steak. “What? It’s a gift.”
Peter was devouring his food with enthusiasm, looking between the adults. “This is awesome! I mean, I usually just have pizza nights with May, so this is... cool.”
Happy leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. “You’ve gotta try the Stark steak, kid. Just don’t expect it to beat New York pizza.”
Tony shot Happy a look. “Hey, nothing beats Stark steak.”
“Not even pizza?” Peter asked, genuinely curious.
“Not even pizza,” Tony said with a smirk, winking at the kid.
As the group dug into the meal, Tony took a sip of his drink and leaned back in his chair, a sly grin spreading across his face. “So, speaking of dinners... anyone get an invite to the Thaddeus Ross Spectacular coming up in a few weeks?”
Pepper rolled her eyes, giving Tony a light slap on the shoulder. “Tony...”
“What?” Tony shrugged innocently. “I’m just saying, it’s not every day a guy like Ross throws a party to show off his ‘secret family.’ You’ve gotta admit, it’s pretty intriguing.”
Natasha raised an eyebrow, smirking. “Let me guess—you’re more interested in the political gossip than the actual event?”
“Oh, come on, Nat. You know me too well.” Tony winked before turning his attention to the rest of the table. “So? Who’s going? Everyone get an invite?”
Clint leaned back in his chair, chewing thoughtfully. “Yeah, got one. Not sure if I’m showing up, though.”
Sam snorted. “You? Miss a chance to rub shoulders with the political elite? Shocking.”
“Apparently, he’s been keeping his daughter hidden away, and now he’s ready for the grand reveal.” Tony chuckles.
“Why now?” Bruce asked, curious.
“Politics, probably,” Sam said, taking a sip of his drink. “Everything’s about appearances.”
Happy chuckled. “Wouldn’t put it past Ross to use his family for a political boost.”
Pepper sighed, giving Tony a nudge. “Can we not gossip, please?”
“Just saying,” Tony grinned. “It’s not every day you get an invite to something like that. So, who’s going?”
Clint nodded. “Now that I know the context, I might.”
“Same,” Sam added. “Seems like a bit of a spectacle.”
Bruce shrugged. “I got one too. I don’t know if I want to go.”
Thor, who was already pouring himself another drink, chuckled. “I shall attend, if only to witness the drama.”
Peter looked confused. “Wait, Ross? Isn’t he the guy who—?”
“Yeah,” Steve said, cutting him off with a smile. “Same guy.”
“Okay, just making sure I’m keeping up.” Peter raised his hands.
Bucky, who had been quietly eating, finally chimed in. “I got one. Haven’t decided either.”
Tony gave him a teasing look. “Oh, come on, Barnes. What’s not to like? A stuffy political event, full of pomp and circumstance. Your kind of crowd.”
“Yeah, sounds like a blast.” Bucky smirked, shaking his head.
Pepper turned to Steve, who had been unusually quiet. “What about you, Steve? Are you planning on going?”
Steve shrugged, pushing a piece of steak around his plate. “I got an invite... I just haven’t decided.”
Tony chuckled, raising an eyebrow. “Come on, Rogers. You can’t pass this up. You’re curious, I can tell.”
“Maybe just a little bit,” Steve chuckles, “We'll see.”
The evening had grown quieter at Tony’s, the Avengers scattered around, finishing their drinks and chatting in smaller groups. Steve and Bucky stood near the terrace, leaning against the railing, a comfortable silence between them.
Steve glanced at his beer, swirling the liquid around. "I saw Y/N the other day... Thought I should try therapy too."
Bucky raised an eyebrow, letting out a small chuckle. “For what?”
Steve shrugged, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Oh, you know, now that I’ve carried on my legacy to Sam. Not Captain America anymore. Gotta figure out what’s next.”
Bucky nodded, though his thoughts were already starting to drift. “Huh. I see.”
There was a pause before Steve added, almost too casually, “I didn’t know Y/N has a boyfriend.”
Bucky’s head snapped toward Steve, his stomach tightening at the mention of Y/N. He caught himself quickly, casually retreating into a more neutral posture, but the surprise had already flashed through him.
“Wouldn’t be surprised if she was taken.”
Steve looked at Bucky, his curiosity piqued. “Really? You think so?”
Bucky shrugged, trying to keep his voice light, even though his thoughts were racing. Taken? He hadn’t even considered the possibility that Y/N could be with someone, and now the idea of her with another man—after she kissed him, twice—bothered him. What the hell was she doing kissing me if she had a boyfriend?
“She’s smart, successful,” Bucky said, keeping his tone nonchalant. “And let’s be honest, she’s pretty damn attractive. So, why would she be single?”
The words came out easily enough, but Bucky could feel the simmering frustration building in his chest. He had let himself get caught up in her—let her get under his skin—and now he was finding out she might have been playing him all along. Was I just a moment of curiosity for her? Some game to figure out who she kissed at that party?
Then it hit him—he once saw Y/N with a man in the café during one of their run-ins. Idiot!
Steve tilted his head, watching Bucky a bit too closely. “You say that like you know something.”
Bucky met Steve’s gaze, his face a mask of indifference, even though his insides were twisting in knots. “I don’t know anything. I just wouldn’t be surprised.”
Steve nodded slowly, “Huh. Guess I hadn’t thought about it that way.”
Bucky stared out into the darkened sky, trying to push the thoughts away, but the bitterness clung to him. The realization settled like a stone in his chest, and no matter how hard he tried to ignore it, the anger flared again. Why the hell didn’t she just say something?
They stood in silence for a few moments, Steve sipping his drink, still turning over what Bucky had said. But for Bucky, the silence was filled with the echoes of those moments with Y/N—the kisses. Now, it all felt like it had been a game. And the worst part was, he couldn’t shake how much it bothered him.
× × × ×
Session 4
The room was quiet, the ticking of the clock the only sound cutting through Y/N's voice. Y/N sat across from him, clipboard in hand, her professional mask perfectly in place as she glanced down at her notes.
She had been talking about progress, about making amends, but her words barely registered with Bucky. His thoughts were elsewhere, tangled up in frustration and confusion.
He couldn’t shake the image of Y/N with another man. Taken—that was the word that kept replaying in his mind. She was taken. He wasn’t mad that she had someone; he was mad that she kissed him like it meant something, only for him to find out she was with someone all along.
He wasn’t sure how long he’d been sitting there, simmering in silence, when Y/N’s voice cut through his thoughts.
“Bucky, you seem very closed off today. Is there something on your mind?”
He blinked, refocusing on her. “No.”
Y/N raised an eyebrow, her eyes flicking to him from her notes. “Are you sure? You’ve been pretty quiet.”
Bucky let out a small, frustrated breath. Of course I’m quiet. How was he supposed to talk to her when she was hiding so much? When she had kissed him but still had another man? His fingers curled into his bicep a bit tighter, but he kept his voice leveled.
“I’m fine.”
Y/N didn’t press, but the silence that followed felt suffocating. She looked down at her clipboard again, jotting something down, and the sight of it—her calm professionalism—only made his frustration boil higher.
He shifted in his seat, his body tense. He didn’t understand how she could sit there so collected, while his mind was racing.
Y/N glanced up again, her tone gentle but probing. “Bucky, if there’s something bothering you, this is a safe space to talk about it.”
His jaw tightened. A safe space? That felt like a joke. He could spill his guts to her, tell her everything about his past, his pain, his guilt. But what about her? What was she hiding? What was she not telling him? The frustration simmered hotter.
He shifted in his seat again, trying to tamp down the anger rising in his chest. He wasn’t sure how much longer he could take this. The silence, the tension—it was suffocating him. Finally, he couldn’t keep it in any longer.
“You know,” Bucky said, his voice sharper than he intended, “it’s funny.”
Y/N blinked, caught off guard by the sudden shift in his tone. She set down her clipboard, giving him her full attention.
“What do you mean?”
Bucky huffed out a breath, the words spilling out before he could stop them. “You know everything about me. All my baggage, all the crap I’ve done. But I don’t know one damn thing about you.”
Y/N straightened, her professional mask slipping just slightly. “Bucky, this is a therapeutic setting. The focus is on you—”
“Yeah, I know,” Bucky snapped, his frustration boiling over. “But how’s that fair? You’ve heard everything about me. You’ve seen every scar, every mistake I’ve made. And I dont know anything about you. Not even something as basic as... if you’re—” He stopped short, biting down on the words he almost let slip, but it was too late.
Y/N’s brow furrowed, her voice still calm, though there was a crack in her usual detachment. “This is about helping you process what you’ve been through. It’s not about me.”
Bucky let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head.
“Of course it’s not. Because why would it be? Why would I get to know the person who knows all my deepest, darkest secrets?”
Y/N held his gaze, her expression softening slightly, but she still kept that professional distance. “Bucky, if I’ve crossed a line—”
Bucky leaned forward, cutting her off, his voice low and sharp. “Don’t play dumb with me. You know exactly what I’m talking about.”
Y/N opened her mouth to respond, but suddenly, her mind clouded, the words slipping from her grasp. It was like she was reaching for a thought, but it stayed just out of reach, teasing her from the edges of her awareness. Her heart raced in frustration, not just at the argument but at this unsettling feeling that had been plaguing her for days.
“I... I wasn’t—” she stammered, blinking as she tried to focus on Bucky’s angry face, the lines of it somehow blurring together. It felt like the room tilted for a brief moment, but she quickly grounded herself, inhaling deeply to stay composed.
“You kissed me,” Bucky’s expression hardened, mistaking her hesitation for guilt. “Not once, but twice. And now, I found out you’ve been with someone this whole time?”
Her breath hitched slightly, but she didn’t respond right away.
Bucky shook his head, his tone bitter. “What was that? Some kind of test? You trying to figure out if I was the guy from that party? Well, guess what? I wasn’t. But you didn’t even give me a chance to say anything before you tried again.”
Y/N’s face softened, and she started to speak, but Bucky wasn’t done.
“You know everything about me. Everything. But I don’t know anything about you. You sit there with that clipboard, all calm and collected, while I lay my soul bare. But what about you? What are you hiding?”
Y/N opened her mouth, but the words seemed to falter. Bucky could see the cracks forming in her usually unshakable demeanor. She wasn’t used to being the one under the spotlight.
“It’s not fair, Y/N,” Bucky continued, his voice quieter now, but no less intense. “You’ve got this wall up, and I’m supposed to just keep spilling my guts to you while you stand there behind it, safe and protected.”
Y/N’s lips parted, her voice barely a whisper. “Bucky...”
“No,” Bucky interrupted, his tone soft but firm. “I’ve told you everything. Every mistake, every regret, every damn thing that haunts me. And you? I don’t even know who you really are.”
Y/N’s hands tightened around the arms of her chair, her nails digging into the leather as she fought to stay present. His words cut through her, but the fog in her mind made it difficult to piece together a response. Why couldn’t she just think straight? The frustration bubbled up inside her, and her head throbbed as if under the weight of a thousand unsaid words.
Bucky watched her, waiting for something, anything, but the room remained heavy with unspoken words.
“I didn’t mean to—” she started, her voice shaking slightly, but she paused again, a sudden confusion taking over. Had she told him that already? Was she repeating herself? Bucky’s words echoed in her ears, and for a moment, everything felt disjointed, like pieces of a conversation out of sync.
“You’ve never asked.” she added, her voice barely audible.
Bucky blinked, then let out a dry, humorless laugh, the sound catching even him off guard. He shook his head, leaning back in his chair. “That’s your answer? I never asked?”
Y/N sighed, glancing at the clock, clearly trying to buy time. “It’s not what you think—”
Bucky scoffed, his laugh harder this time, sharper. “Oh, that’s rich. ‘It’s not what you think.’ What, you think this is just some misunderstanding?”
Y/N opened her mouth, but Bucky wasn’t done.
“You’ve got a guy, right? And yet, you've kissed me. Twice. What am I supposed to think, Y/N? You make me feel like I’m the guy on the side, like I’m stealing someone else’s girl. I don’t do that.”
Y/N’s face flushed, her lips parting slightly as if she wanted to respond, but she stayed silent, her eyes downcast.
The frustration had been simmering for days, ever since he’d found out she wasn’t single. And now, sitting here, watching her keep up that perfect, composed therapist façade, it was too much.
He wasn’t just angry—he was insulted. He wasn’t the kind of man to step into someone else’s relationship, and the fact that he had kissed her without knowing she had someone was eating him up inside.
“You didn’t tell me,” Bucky said, his voice lower now, filled with barely restrained anger. “You didn’t tell me anything. And now, what? I’m supposed to just sit here and pretend it didn’t happen?”
Y/N’s breath hitched, her voice barely above a whisper. “Bucky, I wasn’t trying to—”
“To what?” Bucky cut her off, his tone harsh. “What were you trying to do? Because from where I’m sitting, it looks like you were playing games. And I’m not the kind of guy who does that. You put me in a position I didn’t ask for. You made me...”
He stopped himself, running a hand through his hair, frustration radiating from him. He felt trapped, like he’d been dragged into something he had no control over. The last thing he wanted was to be tangled up in someone else’s drama, especially when it came to relationships. He wasn’t the guy who crossed those lines.
Y/N looked up at him, her expression softer, but she still didn’t speak.
“You’ve got your life, your man. Fine. But don’t pull me into it.”
The sharp sound of the alarm ringing broke the tension, signaling the end of their session. Bucky glanced at the clock, then back at Y/N, the frustration still etched across his face.
He let out a long, heavy sigh, standing up slowly. Without another word, he turned and made his way toward the door, his movements stiff, controlled. He paused for the briefest of moments, his hand resting on the doorknob, but he didn’t look back.
“You take care, Y/N,” he muttered under his breath, though there was no warmth in his voice.
And then he was gone, the door clicking softly shut behind him.
Y/N remained where she was, her eyes still fixed on the spot where he’d been sitting just moments before. Her throat tightened, and her vision blurred, but she blinked rapidly, refusing to let the tears fall. She was stubborn, always had been, and she wasn’t about to break down now. Not after that.
× × × ×
Y/N’s heart raced as she navigated the city streets, her thoughts a whirlwind of worry and confusion. The familiar sounds of the bustling city seemed distant as she pressed harder on the gas pedal, weaving through the evening traffic. The day had dragged on longer than usual, her symptoms clouding her focus as she worked through meetings and paperwork. But now, with the weight of uncertainty pressing down on her, she needed answers.
She pulled into the hospital parking lot, her fingers trembling slightly as she turned off the ignition. Inhaling deeply, Y/N gathered her things and stepped out of the car, moving quickly through the entrance. The sterile, fluorescent-lit hallways of the private clinic always made her uneasy, but today, her unease stemmed from something far deeper.
The receptionist glanced up as she entered. “Miss Y/N,” she greeted with a soft smile. “Dr. Kim is expecting you. Please, go right in.”
Y/N nodded, unable to muster more than a polite smile as she made her way down the hall. Her chest tightened with each step until she finally reached the familiar door. Pausing for a moment, she exhaled slowly and knocked softly before opening it.
Dr. Kim looked up from his desk, his expression immediately softening as he saw her.
“Y/N,” he greeted warmly, standing to meet her. “Come in, have a seat. What’s going on? You sounded urgent on the phone.”
Y/N sat down, her hands clenched tightly in her lap. The overwhelming need to explain everything spilled out of her, the words tumbling over one another as she tried to make sense of the chaos in her mind.
“Dr. Kim, I—something’s wrong. I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s been happening for weeks now. I keep getting these... these daydreams that feel so real. I’ll lose track of time, or I’ll end up in places and not remember how I got there. And my head... it’s like there’s this constant fog, like I can’t think clearly. I’ll forget things in the middle of a conversation. It’s—it’s scaring me.”
Dr. Kim’s brow furrowed as he listened, concern flickering in his eyes. He leaned forward slightly, his hands resting on his desk. “When did these symptoms start?”
“A few weeks ago,” Y/N admitted, her voice shaky. “I thought it was just stress at first—work, everything with my father, the engagement. But it’s getting worse. It’s like... like I’m losing control of my own mind.”
He nodded, his face calm but serious. “Have you experienced any physical symptoms? Headaches? Nausea?”
Y/N hesitated, then nodded. “Yes. The headaches are getting more frequent, and they’re... different. Not like any I’ve had before. And I get this dizziness, like the room is spinning, but it’s only for a few seconds at a time.”
Dr. Kim sat back in his chair, deep in thought. “Y/N, I’m going to schedule an emergency scans for you—right now. I don’t want to wait on this. Your symptoms... we need to rule out any serious issues.”
Her stomach twisted at the word "serious," but she nodded, grateful that he was taking action.
“What scans?” You shook your, trying to blink off the incoming headache.
“CT, MRI, PET. I'll add a Blood analysis as well—you might want to cancel plans, if you've got one tonight or you can go home and we can arrange a time tomorrow for the results.” He gave her a choice.
“I can stay. I need to know what's going on.”
Dr. Kim stood up, motioning for her to follow him. The minutes that followed were a blur—hushed conversations with nurses, the hum of machines, and the cold, sterile air of each scanning room.
She lay still as the machine whirred around her, her mind racing despite the calm instructions from the technician. It felt like hours and hours had passed by the time she was finally back in Dr. Kim’s office, waiting for the results.
When Dr. Kim returned, the air in the room seemed to thicken with tension. He carried a file in his hands, his face somber.
“Y/N,” he began quietly, taking a seat across from her. “I need you to listen carefully.”
Her pulse quickened, her intertwined fingers tightening on eachother. “What is it?”
He hesitated, glancing down at the file before meeting her gaze. “The scans show something... concerning. You have a rare form of cancer called Cloud Cytoma.”
Y/N blinked, her mind reeling as the words hit her like a wave.
“Cancer?” she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper. “How bad is it?”
Dr. Kim’s expression was gentle but unflinching. “Cloud Cytoma is an extremely rare type of cancer that affects the cranial nerves. It explains the symptoms you’ve been experiencing—memory loss, disorientation, even the vivid daydreams. The tumor is in the area of your brain that controls memory and perception.”
Y/N’s heart pounded in her chest, her breath coming in shallow, rapid bursts. "How… How long?" she asked, her voice barely more than a whisper.
Dr. Kim weighed his words carefully but there was no easy way to break out bad news. “I’m afraid the prognosis isn’t good. With treatment, we may be able to manage the symptoms for a little while, but... you likely have about six months, give or take.”
The words hit her like a tidal wave. Her breath caught in her throat as the world around her began to blur.
“I can contact specialists around the globe, who study this form of cancer. I will do my utmost best to find another way. . . . .”
For a second, she wasn’t sure if she was still in the room. It felt like she was slipping into one of those disorienting daydreams again, the ones that felt too real but weren’t. Her vision wavered, and she instinctively pressed her hands against her temples, trying to anchor herself.
“Y/N? Y/N?” Dr. Kim’s voice cut through the fog, concern deepening in his tone.
Y/N opened her eyes, blinking rapidly, trying to shake off the sensation that everything around her was crumbling. She took a deep breath, but the words "six months" echoed in her mind like a broken record, looping endlessly.
Six months. It was absurd. How could someone just say that so calmly? She had just come in here expecting to hear she needed rest, maybe a break from work, and instead, her entire world had been ripped out from under her in a matter of minutes.
She stared at Dr. Kim, trying to wrap her head around it, but the room still felt tilted.
"Six months..." she whispered, shaking her head. "That’s... not enough time to even figure out how to respond to something like this."
Dr. Kim nodded sympathetically, his eyes steady on her. "I know it’s overwhelming. But we’ll focus on making you as comfortable as possible and explore every option available."
Y/N bit her lip, staring down at her hands, her mind spinning. This was her life now—six months left to live. Six months to figure out how to say goodbye to everything and everyone. The absurdity of it all clawed at her chest. It was so ridiculous, so horrifyingly unfair. Six months. The more she thought about it, the more surreal it felt.
And then, out of nowhere, a small, unexpected sound escaped her lips. A laugh. It was quiet at first, almost like a hiccup, but it bubbled up before she could stop it. Her shoulders shook with it, and before long, she was laughing—softly, incredulously, like she couldn’t quite believe the situation she was in.
Dr. Kim blinked in surprise. "Y/N?" he asked cautiously.
But Y/N couldn’t stop. The sheer insanity of being told she had six months to live, just like that, felt like some sort of twisted joke. She wiped at her eyes, half-laughing, half-crying, the sound mixing into something she didn’t even understand.
"Six months..." she gasped between laughs, shaking her head. "I barely know what I’m having for dinner tonight, and now I have to figure out how to live with six months left?"
Dr. Kim watched her with a mixture of sympathy and confusion, clearly not expecting this reaction.
She took a few deep breaths, her laughter finally subsiding, though the absurdity of it all still hung in the air.
"Sorry," she muttered, a wry smile tugging at her lips. "It’s just... It’s kind of funny when you think about it. I mean, how does anyone process that? It’s so... random."
Dr. Kim’s expression softened, and after a moment, he allowed a small, understanding smile. "Everyone processes this kind of news differently," he said gently. "Sometimes, a little laughter helps. It’s your body’s way of coping with the shock."
Y/N nodded, still smiling through the haze of disbelief. “Yeah... maybe. But I can tell you one thing—this isn’t how I imagined my day ending.”
× × × ×
Y/N sat at the bar, swirling the amber liquid in her glass, trying to drown out the noise in her head. Probably not the best decision but with six months left? Why should she even care anymore?
When she took another sip of her drink, a sudden, sharp pain pierced through her temples. Y/N squeezed her eyes shut, trying to shake it off, but the disorienting fog that had plagued her for weeks started to settle in again. The world around her seemed to tilt for a moment, her breath catching as she tried to refocus.
She blinked hard, forcing herself to concentrate on the glass in her hand. Everything felt too bright, too loud, like the whole bar was closing in on her.
A presence beside her jolted her out of the fog. A man she hadn’t seen before, clearly drunk, sidled up next to her with a lazy grin on his face.
“Hey there, sweetheart,” he slurred, leaning closer than necessary. Y/N tensed immediately, her skin crawling at the intrusion.
“Why’s a pretty thing like you sitting here all alone?”
Y/N’s heart raced, but she pushed down the panic, trying to stay present. She had to. “Not interested,” she said flatly, her voice sharper than intended. She lifted her glass, hoping he’d take the hint.
But he didn’t. The grin on his face widened, and he leaned even closer, his breath reeking of alcohol. “Aw, come on. Don’t be like that. I’m just trying to be friendly.”
Her grip on the glass tightened, her pulse pounding in her ears. The fog was still there, lurking at the edges of her awareness, but she forced herself to focus, forced herself to stay grounded. She wouldn’t let this escalate.
“I said, not interested,” she repeated, her voice icy.
The man’s smile faded slightly, his hand reaching out to brush over her arm. “Feisty, huh? I like a girl with some fire.”
Y/N jerked her arm away, her heart pounding in her chest. “Back off,” she snapped, louder this time, but the man’s hand moved to her thigh, his grip tightening just enough to send a wave of nausea through her.
Before she could react, a strong hand clamped down on the guy’s shoulder, yanking him backward with force.
“Let go of her,” a firm voice said, filled with authority.
Y/N’s eyes darted up to see Steve Rogers standing beside her, his expression hard as he pulled the man off her. The drunk stumbled backward, a look of anger flashing across his face.
“Who the hell are you?” the man growled, trying to stand up straighter.
Steve’s eyes narrowed, his posture straight and unmistakably threatening. “Walk away.”
The man scoffed, rubbing his shoulder, clearly too drunk to realize who he was messing with.
“Nah, I’m good right here.” His eyes flicked back to Y/N, a disgusting smirk crossing his face. “She and I were just getting acquainted.”
Before he could say another word, Steve’s fist shot out, connecting with the guy’s jaw with a sickening crack. The man staggered back, crashing into the barstools before crumpling to the floor, clutching his jaw in pain.
The entire bar went silent, everyone turning to see what had just happened.
Steve stood tall, glaring down at the man on the floor. “I told you to walk away.”
The drunk groaned, still clutching his jaw as he scrambled to his feet, glaring at Steve but clearly outmatched.
“You’ll regret that,” he spat, stumbling toward the door, muttering curses under his breath as he left the bar.
Y/N sat there, still frozen in place, her heart racing. The sudden flare of pain in her head had passed, but the fog lingered, making everything feel slightly off-kilter. She had been ready to scream, to fight back, but Steve’s intervention had caught her off guard. Slowly, she released the breath she didn’t realize she had been holding.
Steve turned to her, his expression softening as their eyes met. “You alright?”
Y/N nodded, though her voice was shaky. “Yeah. I’m... fine.”
Steve studied her for a moment, his gaze lingering on her face, as if checking to make sure she was really okay. “You sure?”
Y/N let out a breath, finally allowing herself to relax. “Yeah. Thanks for... you know.”
“It’s nothing.” Steve gave her a small, reassuring smile. He motioned to the empty stool next to her. “Mind if I sit?”
Y/N hesitated, still shaken, but then nodded. “Go ahead.”
As Steve sat down beside her, the tension in the air began to dissipate, though Y/N’s thoughts were still a mess.
Steve glanced at her drink, then back at her. “Rough night?”
“You have no idea.” Y/N let out a small, humorless laugh, shaking her head.
Steve’s eyes softened, and he leaned forward slightly. “I’m a good listener if you want to talk.”
Y/N stared at her drink, debating whether to unload everything or to keep it all bottled up, like she always did. She sighed, shaking her head.
“It’s... complicated.”
“Life usually is.” Steve smiled faintly.
Y/N took another sip of her drink, her thoughts still swirling, when Steve’s voice broke through the heavy silence again.
“You know,” Steve said, a hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth, “it’s kind of funny.”
“What’s funny?” Y/N glanced up at him, raising an eyebrow.
“I’m sitting here, offering to listen to you, and you’re supposed to be my therapist.” Steve leaned against the counter, he gave her a playful look.
“You know, therapists need therapists too?” Y/N couldn’t help the small chuckle that escaped her.
Steve grinned, clearly enjoying the lightening of the mood. “I guess I didn’t realize I’d signed up for a two-way session.”
Y/N rolled her eyes, “I’m off the clock, Steve. If you want therapy, you’ll have to book another session.”
Steve let out a low laugh, his eyes twinkling with amusement. “Fair enough. But it feels like I’m earning some points here. First catching you before you fell, now the bar rescue, and now some free therapy advice? You’re really getting the full Captain America experience tonight.”
“Is that what this is? The Captain America experience?” Y/N shook her head, her smile widening.
“Saving lives and giving pep talks, all in a day’s work.” Steve raised his glass in a mock toast.
Y/N’s laughter came more freely this time, and for a moment, the weight of everything that had been pressing down on her lifted just a little. She hadn’t realized how much she needed a moment like this—something light, something simple. No complications, no lies. Just a small break from the storm that was her life.
She glanced over at Steve, who was watching her with that same warm, gaze he always had. There was something about him—his presence, his calmness—that made her feel at ease. For a fleeting moment, she considered telling him everything. But the thought quickly passed. She couldn’t drag him into her mess.
“Thanks, Steve,” Y/N said softly, her voice sincere.
Steve shrugged, still smiling. “Anytime. I’m not just good at punching guys, you know.”
“I’ve noticed. You’re also good at therapy.” Y/N smirked, giving him a playful look.
Steve chuckled, his eyes flicking over to her empty glass. “Well, if you ever need more... Captain America therapy sessions, you know where to find me.”
Y/N nodded, her smile fading slightly as reality began to creep back in. The joke was lighthearted, but the weight of everything she was carrying started to settle in again. She felt the heaviness pressing down again, but before she could sink too deep into it, Steve leaned forward, his eyes twinkling mischievously.
“You know,” he said, his tone conspiratorial, “there’s one thing I’ve always wondered.”
“Oh yeah? What’s that?”
Steve took a dramatic pause, glancing around the bar like he was about to share a state secret. Then, in a completely serious voice, he asked, “Do therapists actually read all those self-help books, or is that just for show?”
Y/N snorted, caught off guard by the absurdity of the question. She covered her mouth, trying to keep from laughing too loudly. “Seriously? That’s what you’ve been wondering?”
“Hey, it’s an important question. I mean, there are a lot of those books out there. The Art of Not Giving a Damn, How to Be Your Best You, 10 Steps to Inner Peace... Do you just have a whole library of them stashed somewhere?” Steve grinned, clearly pleased with himself.
“Well, some of us don’t need a self-help book to be as annoyingly well-adjusted as you, Captain.” Y/N couldn’t hold back the laughter this time.
Steve held up his hands, feigning innocence. “Annoyingly well-adjusted? I think that’s the nicest thing anyone’s said to me in weeks.”
Y/N rolled her eyes but couldn’t help smiling. “Alright, alright. To answer your question—no, I don’t have a secret stash of self-help books. But now I feel like I should start collecting them, just to mess with people.”
“You should. Imagine the look on people’s faces when you recommend something like Finding Inner Zen for Dummies.”
Y/N giggled, shaking her head. “Yeah, that would go over real well with my clients.”
Steve leaned in a little closer, dropping his voice to a mock whisper. “I bet Bucky would love that.”
Y/N’s laughter bubbled up again, the sound light and genuine. “Oh god, can you imagine? He’d walk out immediately.”
Steve nodded, his expression serious. “Absolutely. The moment you pulled out a book like that, he’d be gone. You’d have to chase him down with a copy of Anger Management 101.”
Y/N was laughing so hard now, her sides hurt. “Stop! I can’t breathe!”
“Okay, okay, I’ll stop. But only because I don’t want to be responsible for making my therapist pass out from laughing.”
Y/N wiped at her eyes, still giggling as she tried to catch her breath. “I’m supposed to be the one helping you, remember?”
Steve gave her a playful shrug. “Hey, you help me, I help you. That’s how this works, right?”
“I guess so. I didn’t realize I’d signed up for a comedy show, though.”
Steve crossed his arms, looking mock-offended. “Comedy show? I’ll have you know I’m much more than that. I’m also very good at giving bad advice and quoting old movies no one’s seen.”
“Oh, really? Now I’m intrigued. What’s the worst advice you’ve ever given?”
Steve pretended to think for a moment. “Hmm... worst advice? Oh, I know. I once told Tony that it was a good idea to let Peter drive the Quinjet.”
Y/N’s eyes widened in horror. “You did not!”
Steve grinned. “I’m kidding. I’d never let that happen. But Tony would.”
Y/N let out a relieved breath, still smiling. “I was about to say...”
The tension that had weighed her down all night seemed to disappear, replaced by the warmth of Steve’s humor. She wasn’t sure how he did it—how he could make her laugh so easily, even when her world felt like it was spinning out of control—but she was grateful.
Steve caught her eye again, his smile softening just a little. “Feeling better?”
Y/N nodded, the smile lingering on her lips. “Yeah. A lot better.”
“Good,” Steve said, his tone gentle now. “You deserve to feel better.”
Y/N’s heart squeezed at his words, but before she could dwell on the emotion behind them, Steve leaned back and gave her a cheeky grin.
“Now, do I get a discount on my next therapy session for all the laughs I just provided?”
Y/N burst out laughing again, shaking her head. “Absolutely not. You’ll pay double for that, Captain.”
Steve raised his glass in mock surrender. “Fair enough. It was worth a shot.”
As Y/N's laughter filled the space between them, Steve's smile faltered for just a second. He caught himself watching her more closely than he should, noticing the way her eyes lit up when she laughed, the small crinkles at the corners of her mouth. His heart ached—just a little—as he realized how much he wanted to be the one to make her feel like this all the time.
But he pushed the thought aside, burying it beneath the camaraderie and lightheartedness of the moment. He wasn’t sure when it had started—this subtle pull toward her—but he felt it more and more with each passing day. He wasn’t supposed to feel this way. Not when her world was already complicated enough. Not when his own feelings were supposed to be under control.
Still, sitting beside her, hearing her laugh, he couldn't help the quiet longing that settled in his chest.

Steve tugged you closer to him, rubbing his hand up and down your arm as you shivered. A cool breeze chilled you to the bone and you couldn’t stop yourself from shoving yourself into his side. Thankfully, he didn’t seem to mind.
“I told you to wear a jacket,” he chuckled. “I don’t know why you didn’t listen. Now look at you!”
“I know,” you groaned. “Do you really need to rub it in?”
He laughed again. He took a step back upon arriving at your front door, allowing you to shove the key into the lock and open your home with a click!
“So, if I tell you to bring a jacket on our next date, are you gonna listen?”
You couldn’t prevent a small smile from spreading across your face, “Who said you were getting another date?”
The smile on his lips fell in an instant. Steve examined you with a surprised expression, clearly not expecting such a response. He let out a sigh of relief when you finally winked at him with a grin.
“Never do that again,” he said, stepping closer as he shoved his hands into his pockets. “I thought you were serious.”
“What if I am?” you joked, smiling softly as he slowly closed in on you.
“Then I’d be upset that I didn’t get to do this.”
Before you could ask what he meant, Steve had pressed his lips against yours. With his sudden movements, however, he accidentally shoved you into the door knob.
You winced at the feeling, back arching as a sharp pain traveled along your spine. You gripped Steve’s shoulders. He quickly pulled away and furrowed his eyebrows in concern.
“I’m so sorry!” he grimaced. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” you huffed, trying not to roll your eyes. “I’m fine.”
Steve shifted nervously at your tone. His hands returned to his side as he watched you slowly step inside your home. He cleared his throat, and asked, “How’s next Saturday night sound? There’s this really cool sushi place we could—?”
“Sure, whatever.” you replied, not noticing how he winced at your dismissive wave. “Night, Steve.”
“Good—”
SLAM!
“—night.”
He stared at the closed door for a moment. His hands reached up to run over his face as he tilted his head back with a loud, frustrated groan. He rolled his eyes at his pathetic excuse of a kiss.
If it were anyone else, he would have just gone home and forgotten about the whole thing, but not this time. Even though all the other dates he had been on in recent months hadn’t panned out to anything serious, he could tell that you were going to be different. Or, at least, he wanted you to be different.
He really liked you. And he wasn’t going to let one bad kiss ruin even the slightest chance of a relationship between the two of you.
His knuckles tapped on the door before Steve could stop them. He watched as you appeared once more. A confused expression had overtaken your features.
“Steve?”
He looked back at you with an unsure grin. You couldn’t help being amused as he seemed to have an internal conversation with himself. He’d try to speak before shaking his head.
“I know I just kissed you,” he sighed, finally finding the courage to express himself, “but I didn’t do it right.”
You pursed your lips and turned your attention to your shoes. All your efforts were being used to hide the smile that was slowly growing on your face.
Steve took a deep breath before moving a step closer. His chest was almost flush against your own as he tried to meet your gaze. With a whisper, he asked, “Can I try again?”
Your eyes slowly met his. Steve’s hand reached out to stroke your arm, drawing you even closer than you already were.
“I’ve always believed in second chances,” you muttered, “but only if you can make it worth my while.”
You smiled as a red tint slowly overwhelmed Steve’s neck, cheeks, and ears. He huffed with a wide, embarrassed grin. His eyes flickered between your sharp eyes and enticing lips before he whispered, “I think I can do that.”

Lastly I know I had many people who were tagged in this series, I didn't want to tag them all if they were no longer interested in the story. So if you are interested to be tagged so you see the update right away please let me know. And I hope you enjoy the story!
Warnings: Talk of abuse, harsh words and mistreatments, Age gap
SideNote: In this story Steve is older then the Reader. By like 8-10 ish years. (more or less read how you would like). But I wrote this as a reader who is 22 and Steve is around 30. I believe I talked about this is an ask before but I want to make it a point again. The reader is not underage. The nickname of Pup is my idea in the ABO fantasy how you would call a partner Baby. I hope that makes sense.
_________
Y/n’s breath came out hard and raspy. Her chest was burning and hurting a lot. Her whole body was  so tired and wanted to just collapse to the floor. But she couldn't, she needed to keep pushing. Keep running. Running away from him and that house and that town.  It took her months to plan and get to that alpha to let her go out with him and finally  make a break for freedom. “Come on little omega, come back to your alpha.”. That voice growled out. Echoing through the woods and towards Y/n. Y/n pushed off the tree that she stopped for a sec to lean on. Pushing herself to keep going. Although no matter how much she runs or how fast she runs , she feels like she can’t get away. That he is getting closer. It was only a matter of time and he would have her back in his grip. At that point there was no telling what would happen to her. What he might do to her.
As had been running so much at a point she can’t tell him her vision is blurring from the tears that kept running down her face or from how tired her body was. But she kept on. As she did her vision got more and more blurry. The woods around her turning into only a vision of greens and drowns. She wasn’t able to make out an of the objects around her to the point that she started to trip over branches , rocks and other items covering the ground in her way. As she looked behind her to make sure he wasn’t close after all her tripping , she didn’t see the large tree root sticking out of the ground. Which she tripped over. Lodging her foot in the root. Causing her to twist her ankle and fall to the ground with a loud scream. As it left like she broke or tore something in her leg/ foot. A chuckle comes from in the woods, not too far from where she laid in pain. “Oh little omega. Did you get hurt?”, the voice said in a  condescending way. “Come on omega. If you just come out now we can get you some help and then maybe your punishment won’t be so bad if you just listened.”. Y/n bit her lip hard as she drug herself behind the huge tree. Wedging herself into the little carved area of the tree. She was about 90% sure he would find her and drag her back to that hell hole. But that 10% hoped he wouldn’t that he would leave her. Even if she died out here in the woods injured and unable to get back to a town that would be better then having to spend another second next to that disgusting Alpha.
As she leaned her head back closing her eyes, she tried to take deep slow breathes. Hoping he won’t hear her harsh breathing from being out of breath and being in some much pain. As she rested her eyes a smell filled her nose. A musky smell. Not a bad over-powering one. But a nice one. One that felt warm. It felt like being wrapped in a cozy blanket in front of a fire, inside a warm cabin hiding from the harsh cold outside. The smell thats away all the pain. Not just to forget a bit about her leg but also all the pain of that other Alpha. The pains of her childhood. The Pains her father put her through. Everything disappeared as her scenes where overtaken by this smell.
As Y/n was going through this all she didn’t see that Alpha whos scent it belonged too not too far away. Who didn’t see her but stopped his work of getting fire wood as he smelled the distressed omega smell. He was about to walk closer to her when he stopped as he heard the mean and grimmis voice of another Alpha. “Omega! You're making me angry er the longer you stay out! And you know what happens when im angry!” The voice bloomed as he screamed out. The other Alpha’s eyes narrow at the alpha. Seeing him walking around looking very upset. He stood between the Alpha and where he came smell the omega. Holding him axe in hand , he cleared his voice. “Excuse me but your on private property.” The alpha that was screaming turned around ready to yell at the person who dared to stop him. Only To stammer back as he sees the build of the Alpha. Who towered over him and looked like he could knock him out with one punch. “I’m sorry. My girlfriend and I got into a disagreement and she ran off into the woods. I meant no harm”. The mean alpha spoke with a small smirk. Trying to play off a nicer caring vibe. The Alpha narrowed his eyes as he looked at him. The yelling and his body langue told him that wasn’t the case. “Well I’m sorry to hear sir. But I’m sorry I haven’t see your girlfriend or smelled her around here. I’m going to have to ask you to leave now”. He said to the wicked alpha. Whos face turned twisted. He wanted to argue. But only being able to smell the alphas smell and not picking up Y/ns anymore, along with the fact he was slightly scared of this alpha. He just nodded and walked off. The other Alpha watched him. Once he was sure the alpha was far enough away he turned back to the scared omega. “He gone now” He says aloud. Knowing that she heard them. Which she did. Y/n sat against the tree listening to everything. Coming out of her little day dream of the other alphas smell when she heard the grimace voice of the alpha. Her breath catching in her chest as she hears the other alpha defend and hide her. Scaring off the one casing her. “I can’t” She says softly in a raspy voice as she had tried to stand but couldn’t with her hurt leg. As well as her whole body felt still. Almost shut down from all the running she put it through the last few days. Slowly the alpha made his way over to her. He made slow step towards her to show her he won’t hurt her. “Are you okay?”, he asked as he got closer. Looking down at her ankle that he can see was turning purple from where some of her skin poked out from her leggings and shoes. He also noted how her clothes where torn and very dirty. Looking like she had been running through the woods for days. By the state of her in all he would guess that was the case. He kneeled in front of her as she shook her head no to his question. Finally opening her eyes again as she looked up at him as he looked her over. He was taken back a little as she looked pretty young. “What's a pup like you doing out here?”. Y/n slightly started crying again. She didn’t even know she could cry anymore at this point but here she was crying again. But this time she really wasn’t sure what about. If it was the past and what that alpha did to her. Or if it was the fact that she could possible be free of him. Or its also possible it was this feeling she had around this new alpha. Growing up she was always afraid of all the alphas around her. Taught they where higher then her and would not hesitate to remind her of that. But this alpha was different. He felt warmer, safer then all the other alphas she met before. His smell , his looks , just his whole aurora around him felt so safe.
The alpha in front of her looked worried at her. Worried about what she has been threw. The torment she has had to deal with so far. What the hell that other alpha put her through. “Hey, its okay your safe now I promise.”. He said softly as he looked back down at her ankle. There was no way she could walk on it like this. He looked back at her with a soft look. Trying to stay calm and soft with her. “Your ankle looks really bad. I’m going to have to carry you back to my cabin. Are you okay with that?”. He ask, watch as she nodded. He was careful with her. Picking her up gently as he walked them back to his cabin. Y/n wasn’t able to hold herself back as she leaned on to the alpha. Taking in his sent and relaxing. Feeling her relaxe in his arms the alpha smiled a bit. “So whats your name pup?”. “Y/n” , She says softly. “Well Y/n its nice to meet you , Im Steve.”
After a bit of a walk Y/n and Steve get back to Steve’s cabin. While holding her he was able to slide open the back door as they enter the house. Steve carries Y/n over to the couch and gently puts her down. Helping her to sit down. He takes a seat on the coffee table infront of her as he gentle pulls her injured leg onto his lap. “I can see toue ankle is already turning colors and swelling. I’m going to have to take your shoe off. It might hurt okay?”. He ask trying to be as gentle with her as possible. Y/n nodded as she gripped the couch bracing herself. Steve nodded as he untied her shoe trying to be gentle as he took off the shoe. Y/n winced and moaned in pain as the shoe came off her swollen foot. Steve looked over her foot, frowning. “I’m not going to lie pup, this does not look good”. “Do you think it's broken?”. She asks biting her lip not to scream in pain. Steve Gentle propped her foot up on a pillow as he stood up. “I’m not sure your foot is very swollen, so it's hard to tell. I’ll get you some ice to see if that helps bring the swelling down. Unfortunately that's all we can do as the doctor is closed for the day as it's pretty late in the day. I can take you there first thing in the morning.”. Steve said as he walked over to the kitchen grabbing an ice pack and coming back over. Wrapping the ice pack in a towel before gently setting it on Y/n's ankle. Y/n groaned lightly at first as the towel touches her but slowly relaxes as the coldness actually feels good. Steve sighs as he sits on the coffee table again next to her leg. “I understand if you're not ready to talk but can I ask what you were doing in the woods running from your alpha?”. Y/n looks down at her hands. She wasn’t ready to fully talk about it but she knew she probably should tell him a bit if he is helping her. “He’s not my alpha and I'm not his omega. We aren't mated. I was forced to marry him. I ran away when he tried to mate me, I didn’t want it. I-”. “That's okay you  don’t have to go any farther with it.” Steve cutts her off. He could see how much it was hurting her. He didn’t need to know all of the story. Just that she was trying to get away from this alpha. She doesn’t want to be with him and needs help getting away. Y/n looked at him a little shocked. But thankful that he understood she has been through something terrible. She needed help, that's all he needed to know. Not the full story till she's ready. “ Okay , so we will get you to the doctor first thing tomorrow. For now lets get some food in you and get you cleaned up.” Steve says standing up. He headed to the kitchen.
After they eat some food. That y/n couldn’t tell was actually really good or she was just that hungry  after not really eating for a few days. But either way she ate all the food quickly, starting to feel a bit better with having some food in her. After cleaning up Steve helped get a bath set up and set up a little stool in the bathtub that she could move from the toilet to the side of the tub to the stool. So she didn’t put much pressure on her leg. Y/n was very thankful for all he was doing. “I know its not the best but at least you can get clean up a bit. Get some of that dirt off of you.”, Steve said as he helped her into the bathroom. Y/n nodded as she slid to sit on the closed toilet lid. “Heres some clothes they might be a little big for you but hopefully they will do for now.” Steve set some clothes down on the counter along with a towel for her. y/n thanked him as he walked out. Being careful to slowly take off her dirty torn clothes. Tossing them to the side. She bit her lip as she moved her slef to the stool in the tub. Using an old cup and wash rag steve gave her to help her clean up. Y/n couldn’t help but to take the wash rag and scrub her body. Trying to wash away all the memories , touch and smell of that other alpha. Wanting it all off of her. Scrubbing so hard her skin started to turn red. Only being happy when his smell was completely off of her. Replaced with the smell of the spiced body wash that was Steves. It wasn’t as nice as his alpha scent but it was better then the smell of that other alpha.
Y/n softly moaned as she washed her hair out too. It felt so nice to wash all the dirt and sweat out of her hair. She even took a little more time to double wash it just to ensure all the dirt was out of her hair. Finally leaning up to drain the water. Starting to feel cold as the warm water turned cold. She leand over to grab the towel. Sitting on the stool as she dried her self off before moving herself back over to the closed toilet seat. Y/n leaned back a little out of breath as her body was still very tired, very running. After a little bit of a break she reached over to grab the clothes Steve left for her. An old sweater that looked too small for Steve. Maybe he once wore it but now he was too bulk to wear it. She slipped the sweater on, thankful for the warmth it wrapped her in. Along with it were some old looking sweatpants as well. Far too big for her. But she made it work with rolling them and tying them tight around her waist. After she was done she made her way to the door. Holding her foot up as she leaned against the counter and wall to walk to the door.
As the door opened Steve jumped up making his way over to her to make sure she is okay and help her back to the couch to sit down. “Ill leave it up to you but you can either sleep here on the couch or you can take my bed. Whichever would make you more comfortable.” Steve said as he helped her prop her foot back up. Y/n looked around making notes of the exits. Just in case. Its not that she doesn’t  fully trust Steve but in the situation shes been in anyone would be worried about any alpha. “Its okay you can stay down here if it makes you feel more comfortable. I understand.” Steve say nothing how she looked around. He can see this omega is pretty messed up. Whoever that alpha was he messed her up pretty bad. Steve brought some blankets and pillows over for Y/n helped her to set up on the couch to lay down. “Okay , you okay pup?”. Steve ask after getting Y/n all settled down. Y/n looked up at him nodding. Steve nodded as he stepped away heading to his room. “Ill leave my door open so if you need anything don’t be afraid to yell for me pup. Okay?”. Steve said watching to make sure Y/n nodded and that she was okay before turning to head into his room “Night Pup”.

Only Fools Rush In| Captain America

I had this posted a long time ago on here but decided to do it just from Lennon on but decided just recently that it wasn't going to work and that it needed to be from Hannah down to Morgan so here we go again.
This is cross posted on AO3, ff.net and wattpad

1942
Brooklyn New York
“Is this thing going to work  Howard?” Hannah Stark asked as she sat on the stool next to her older brother. “There is only one way to find out.” He returned glancing at her out of the corner of his eyes. Today was the first day in over a week that he had seen her, she had been busy with the Stark Expo and other ventures that Stark industries was involved in.
She was the only one that he trusted to do anything even with her illness. An illness that threatened to take her away from him at a young age. And he wasn’t ready to face a world without his little sister in it.
She was his moral compass, she kept him from doing too bad of things.  He had thought if this worked, he was to give it to his sister so she could live a life that was free from illness and from near poverty they lived in because of their father.
She deserved at least that. They both did.
“Whatever you're thinking, Howard stop it right now.” Hannah ordered looking up from the clipboard that was on her lap, “I am not going to take the super soldier serum. I am neither a soldier nor do I need to take it. If I die, I die. It's God’s will and we know not to mess with that.’
They had started to get a little ahead before the stock market crashed and their father started to gamble it away and drink it. And then the market crashed and thankfully he was able to save the two of them from the sudden deaths that took both of their parents from them.
“You may be ready to die Hannah, but I am not ready to let you go.”
She was saved from commenting when Agent Carter and a small man entered the room and stood at the top of the stairs.
“Who is that?” She asked Howard tilting her head to the side, eyes wide with curiosity.
`That Ms. Stark is our soldier.” The doctor informed her from where he was standing looking over the viles and the paperwork.
‘He is so tiny. It’s kind of cute.” She muttered with a laugh to her older brother who smirked before she offered the man a smile.
“Good luck Mister.’
“Rogers. Steve Rogers.” The man informed not quite meeting her eyes.
“Hannah Stark.’ She returned, “Good luck Mister Rogers.’
Hannah stood from the stool, she had been involved with enough of Howard’s projects knowing that she was better off upstairs with the others and he would have probably ordered her to go up there anyways.
His expertise lay with lying and getting things their way.  And Hannah’s was good at sweet-talking money out of investors' pockets even if it wasn’t morally correct for her to do so.
***
“Miss Stark, I didn’t expect to see you here today.” The Colonel commented seeing the younger Stark sibling coming into the room.
“I do get let out of my duties and my tower sometimes sir. Mostly to see things like this.” She grinned before letting the older man introduce her to the senator and the man that accompanied him.
The younger man stared at her uncomfortably, causing her to take a step back and close to the Colonel who raised an eyebrow at her sudden movement. She shook her head and painted a smile on her face.
She wasn’t going to ruin this for her brother, not after he worked so hard to get them to this point. She would just deal with it. “I can see why Howard keeps you busy with the company and the expo.” The Senator said, turning his full attention to Hannah who smiled, “You flatter me, Senator.’ She said as Peggy came into the room and over to her side.
Worry on her pretty face.  She cared for this man that was going to be injected. That much Hannah could see but she wasn’t going to question her in front of her superiors.
It was not the time or place. “C’Mon.” Hannah whispered, gripping the older girl’s hand and pulling her over to the chairs.
**
“Stop it! Stop it now!” Peggy shouted abandoning her seat moments after they had settled in them. She tore out of the room back to the landing.
Hannah followed quickly, her hazel eyes wide with terror. Howard was out of his damn mind if he thought that she was going to go into one of those willingly.
“Howard! Stop it now!’ She threw in as she grasped Peggy’s elbow in her hand, trying to keep her rooted next to her.
All the stuff that was flashing around wasn’t safe for them to be around. She knew enough of her brother’s projects to know that it would do more damage than good to them.
Howard, hearing his sister’s voice over all the noise, went to turn the dial back before Steve’s voice shouted from inside the holding cell that he was fine and let it keep going.
“It’s okay Peg.” She started squeezing her elbow tighter, “Howard knows what he is doing.”
It was a matter of seconds before Howard lowered the cell and opened it and Steve slumped forward, a completely changed man.
“Holy shit. It worked.’ Hannah muttered as she followed Peggy down the stairs and to her brother’s side.
“Good job Howie.” She grinned as he hugged her to his side.
“You are next.” He squeezed here. “No way in hell. I am not going through that.”
 “Hannah.”
 “Howard.”
The squabble was stopped by shattering glass and a loud cracking sound like a car backfiring, Howard  had enough well with all to spin them into the ground, his body protecting hers.
“Stay here Hannah. Don’t move.” He ordered before standing straight up. For once Hannah was going to listen to her brother. Whatever just happened wasn’t supposed to happen and it rocked her brother to the core.

4 weeks later.

Peggy Carter came to a stop next to Hannah who was standing just off of the stage watching them finish building the set. “How are you feeling?”  Her question startled Hannah out of her thoughts causing the younger girl to tear her eyes away from the stage work to look at her.  She and Howard both had been MIA from one of the shows and she and Steve had figured out what was going on.
Piecing the symptoms together and how instead of going over to Europe like originally planned, Howard stayed stateside to be with his sister trying to ease her illness and pain. He could have left her with Peggy and with Steve but she was his responsibility.
He wanted to take care of his sister, it was the right thing to do.
The war in Europe could wait just a little bit longer.
“I told Howard we should have told you.” She started, “but he didn’t want to take this away from this. He thinks the senator would pull me off because of my illness. He is convinced that the Senator would lock me up in a tower in Buffalo with an army of doctors. And not letting me work.. Working is  what I want to do.”
Peggy laughed at that, the Senator was completely enamored by the younger Stark, it would take a lot for him to remove her from this.
“I have always been sick even when I was younger. We figured it was because it was the environment we grew up in. But a couple of years ago, I got really sick and against my wishes, Howard took me to the doctors.”
Steve had now joined them and was listening to her story, curious about the younger Stark sibling, they had heard about Howard and his escapades but Hannah was quiet. Almost like him.
“And they found cancer. It is contained for now in my uterus and ovaries.”
Steve colored, this topic wasn’t discussed in polite conversation.
“Sorry.” The younger Stark sibling mumbled looking back at the stage, her fingers twisting together, she was embarrassed to have let it slip. But Peggy and Steve were too smart not to figure it out. “They give me a year, maybe less. You are the only two outside of me, Howard and my doctor know about how sick I am. He wanted me to do the serum. But there is no guarantee of it working on me and I don’t want to be some sort of burden on him, more than I already am.”
Steve went to open his mouth to offer some sort of awkward sympathetic statement but stopped when Peggy put her hand on his arm.
“It’s okay.” Hannah said softly, turning to look at them both. “I told Howard that I was okay with dying.”
“No one should ever be ready to die.” Steve finally said, reaching his own hand out to touch her shoulder.
“But I am Steve, and it’s okay, I am just trying to make the best of the time I have left. “
 “The serum worked for me.”
“I know but Steve, I am okay with this. Truly. I just have to find someone to take care of Howard.”
Howard and the Senator had arrived and heard the end of the conversation.
“And I told you a thousand times you don’t need to.”
Hannah shrugged her shoulders and reached up to dry the tears that escaped her eyes.
“Oh, sweetheart.” Peggy cried, pulling her into a hug. “Everything will be okay.”
Those words sounded hollow to even her own ears. They all shouldn’t be going around making promises that they could not keep but in this time frame, she had wanted to give them all hope. Something that was desperately needed for them all.
“Well, we came to talk to you about the changes we have as we go forward.”
The senator spoke, trying to break up the uneasiness.  The three turned to him while Howard shook his head, this wasn’t the time that he wanted this to happen. Especially when Hannah would be liable to say yes.
“We are going to send this overseas to military camps..”
Hannah blinked her eyes rapidly as Peggy released her from her embrace and looked at the Senator, “Are you sure that’s a good idea? You want to send Steve over there when they have actually been fighting the war and have him ask if they want to come along while he punches Hilter in the face?”
“Han.” Howard started, he knew that Hannah was right and this wasn’t the best angle to go but there was no telling the Senator no.
“Sorry.” She immediately apologized, it was a stupid idea to do this and it had slipped out before she could fully think about it.
The older man waved it off and turned back to speak to Howard again.
“Well, Captain it looks like you are getting your wish, you will get to see Bucky again.” Peggy started.
“Who is Bucky?” Hannah threw in as the Brit lead them backstage where the rest of the cast and crew were getting ready for the show.
“His best friend. He is a handsome one. You would like him, Hannah.”
“Oh no Peggy, that one date was enough, I am never doing that again.” She laughed, “And besides, the deal was I would go on that one date with you and what’s their names and then you would help me find someone suitable for Howard.”
“And Love, I will, we just have to take care of you too. We can’t forget about you. You are important too.”

Hi I was wondering if I could ask for a request where Steve and Bucky are at the park thinking back to the past in the 40s when the both of them and the reader all three of them where best friends and happy and just overall a chaotic trio and they get sad realizing that you are gone and will never get to grow older together like you once talked about before, but just then a Women accident bumps into Steve because she got distracted and when they both turn to look they see a perfect reincarnation of the reader but the reader smiles and apologizes for bumping into Steve and continues with her morning run while the both of them just can’t comprehend if that women was truly the reader or not. I understand if you can’t do this request but I would really appreciate and love it if you did do this idea thank you so much!!! 🥰

The park was beautiful in the crest of springtime. The famed pink cherry blossoms that lined the walkway towards the Washington Monument carried with it the saccharine scent of spring. The cool morning air that blew around them ruffled through Steve’s hair, turning the sweat that dotted his bare arm and forehead cold. He could hear Bucky panting alongside him, their legs a blur of black pants and shoes as they whizzed past the other joggers who were watching them in keen interest. Sam had been left in the dust, dripping sweat and perhaps little tears as Steve and Bucky ran ahead of him.
“Race you to the—“
Bucky didn’t even need to finish his sentence before Steve pumped up his shoes and ran even faster than he did before. He heard Bucky swear silently before the quick pats of his feet against the pavement quickened in tempo. Laughter bubbled from Steve’s chest as he heard Bucky struggling to keep up.
“Guess your metal arm can’t help you now,” Steve taunted, his voice loud enough that he was sure Bucky heard him.
Bucky had previously claimed that his metal arm made him infinitely better than Steve for the sole fact that it was made out of vibranium, making him “stronger” than Steve, which Steve simply disagreed with.
“You really making fun of an amputee?” Bucky said in between pants. Steve cast a glance a little behind him, greeted with the sight of Bucky’s ruddy face as he struggled to keep up. Despite the Supersoldier serum that ran through Bucky’s veins, Steve was suddenly reminded of how much different Erskine’s serum was to Zola’s.  He’d had perfection pumped into his veins while Bucky had a mere shadow of it injected into his body.
“I’m not making fun of an amputee. I’m making fun of you!” Steve increased the tempo of his feet, running even faster and leaving Bucky behind in the dust.
He didn’t even feel winded as he arrived to the end of the pathway, watching as Bucky’s scowl deepened.
“Son of a bitch,” Bucky swore as he struggled for breath. “Whatever happened to no man left behind?”
“I abandoned that idea when we left Sam behind ” Steve could make out Sam’s struggling form far off in the distance. It would take a good 20 minutes before the man could cover the distance that yawned before them. “Think we should get him?”
Bucky followed Steve’s gaze, narrowing his blue eyes before a teasing smile stretched his lips. “Nah. I could use a couple of minutes to rest.”
Steve chuckled as he sat down on one of the park benches, patiently waiting for Sam to catch up with them. Seeing Sam in 20 minutes now seemed like an impossibility as he watched Sam pause, doubling over in exhaustion. He looked prone to collapsing and Steve briefly wondered if he should go get him but stopped as he watched Sam straighten up and continue his slow pace jogging towards them. Sam was nothing if not determined and though he hated being left behind, he’d hate being helped even more.
“You know, he’s gonna be in a really bad mood when he gets here,” Steve remarked when Bucky took the seat beside him.
“That’s what I’m banking on, Steve,” Bucky’s grin was wide and infectious. “I can’t wait to see him get all puffy when he gets here.”
“Kinda reminds me of Y/N,” Steve said tearing his gaze from Sam’s tiny figure and turning his attention to Bucky. “She use to always get so mad whenever we left her behind.”
Bucky glanced at him, a wistful look dancing in his eyes. “Do you remember that time she got so pissed off when I enlisted?”
Steve chuckled. “Definitely. She was so relieved that I couldn’t then Erskine recruited me and she went and got so angry, I thought she was never going to speak to me again.”
“She got so mad she joined the Red Cross then joined the SSR,” Bucky grinned at the memory. “We were both so surprised when she popped up in London, do you remember that?”
Steve grinned at the memory that resurfaced in his head. “How could I possibly forget?”
“You two really think you’d seen the last of me?”
Steve spun around at the sound of the woman’s voice, his eyes growing wide at the sight of her. Y/N looked as beautiful as Steve remembered. Her hair was curled and pinned up in perfection, her lips painted a ruby red. She was wearing an elegant blue dress that showed off the roving curves of her body, her feet clad in simple black heels.
“Y/N?” Bucky’s eyes were wide in wonder and surprise. The last time Steve saw Y/N had been in New York, back home in Brooklyn. She had been crying when Steve told her that he was leaving to fight in the war.
The busy London bar and its loud patrons seemed to melt away at the sight of her. Steve had missed Y/N, the last person to complete the mischievous trio that was their group. Strange how the people around them could continue on their conversations when Steve’s world had been rocked on its feet.
“The very same.” Y/N grinned before her gaze narrowed at Steve’s body, eyes roving up and down his suddenly tall figure. “Though, I’m not sure my friends are the same. Did you eat the Steve Rogers I know?”
Steve hadn’t even hesitated. His arms instantly found themselves around Y/N’s waist, lifting her up in an embrace that she reciprocated with a laugh.
“Yup. You’re definitely Steven Grant Rogers. You still give the best hugs,” Y/N said as Steve set her down to her feet.
“I can’t believe you’re here!” Bucky went in for his own hug, Y/N’s arms wrapping around Bucky’s torso. “How?”
“Well, I couldn’t sign up to be soldier,” Y/N said pulling away and she making her way to the bar and sitting down on the stool that Steve had once occupied, “so I went and became a nurse for the Red Cross. I’d heard rumors that my two best friends were fighting for the SSR and so I sent in a transfer to your unit. I received news last week that I’d been approved and I just arrived today.”
“Who approved your transfer?” Bucky said, a permanent tone of wonderment etched on his voice. He took the seat next to Y/N while Steve took the other.
“Some guy called Colonel Philips?”
Steve raised a dubious brow. “Philips approved your transfer?”
“I’ve been hired to keep you in line. Philips thought our personal connection would help me keep you honest. Apparently, you’ve been keeping the old man on his toes.” Y/N’s smirk widened. “My official title is Captain America’s babysitter. Has a ring to it, don’t you think?”
“You? Our babysitter? We’re likely to get into even more trouble with you around,” Bucky snorted.
Y/N’s eyes shimmered in mischief. “Good thing he doesn’t know that.”
Steve sighed at the memory. Bucky had been right. With Y/N around, they did get into more trouble. Initially, she kept Philips distracted long enough for the Howling Commandos to sneak into missions without Philips noticing. Then, she quickly became popular around the SSR headquarters, instantly befriending Peggy Carter. As the Howling Commandos tore their way through the Nazi forces, Y/N found ways to keep up morale, so much so that she began to gain notoriety amongst the Nazis. With Y/N continuously mocking Hitler on the radio and belittling and condemning the actions of HYDRA, she became public enemy number one after Steve.
She was often found beside Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes when they weren’t on missions and she worked to ensure that the Commando’s war efforts were publicly recognized. Without Y/N, most of the Howling Commando’s efforts would have gone unnoticed. Even Colonel Philips had to begrudgingly agree that Y/N was a useful asset to the team.
“Remember when Johann Schmidt declared her a public enemy of the state?” Steve grinned as another memory resurfaced.
“She loved it so much,” Bucky said with a slight chuckle. “She paraded that title around like she’d been crowned queen. She never cared that it was dangerous.”
“She knew how to handle herself in a fight. She use to be the only person who could beat in the boxing ring. She use to run circles around you. I’m half convinced the war would have ended earlier if she’d been allowed to become a soldier.”
“Well, it wasn’t for a lack of trying. Remember when she stole an airplane from Stark and crashed into a small HYDRA base?”
Steve’s face lit up at the memory. “I almost forgot about that! She came home covered in scrapes and bruises and splinters from when her parachute had her landing in the woods but the grin on her face made it seem like none of it hurt.”
“Oh, it hurt alright,” Bucky snorted. “She cried about it at night when she couldn’t sleep properly.”
Steve grinned. He remembered that too. Y/N was tough but she had the worst habit of letting the little things get to her. She could have easily brushed off being shot at or being threatened with a knife but the moment a minor inconvenience happens to her, it was as if a meteor was about to strike earth and end her entire world.
“God, I miss her,” Steve said, his smile turning a little sad.
“Me too.” Bucky said solemnly.
“I’d never seen her cry as much as she did when you fell off the train,” Steve recalled, his eyes turned haunting. “It was like a piece of her died with you.”
Y/N’s sobs were chased through his memory, her wail of pain unlike anything he’d ever heard before.
“STEVE, BRING HIM BACK! BRING HIM BACK!” Steve could feel her fists beat against his chest, pushing him towards the door. “BRING BUCKY BACK.”
“I’m sorry.” It was the only thing he could think to say. He could feel his own heart break, a fissure erupting a violent stream of hurt. “I’m sorry.”
He knew Y/N’s pain. He understood how she felt. He felt the same pain and anger lace through him, turning his veins into ice.
He knew she wasn’t angry at him. She was angry at the whole world. At this war for taking away their best friend, at the Nazis for their role in killing him. He knew she was angry at herself for not doing enough to try and save Bucky, even though there was nothing she could do. He knew all these things because he felt the same way.
Despite the violence that rage through Y/N, Steve simply wrapped his arms around her, tucking his head below his chin as she wailed. He closed his eyes against the sound of her sobs, committing it to memory.
He made a vow to himself right then and there, silently promising that he would do everything in his power to ensure that Y/N would never feel this way again.
“Bring Bucky back! Steve, bring him back.”
“I wish I could.” Even to his own ears he sounded miserable.
He could feel the fight begin to leave her body, her body giving away to tremors filled with rage. “I don’t know how to live in a world without him. Steve, please. Bring him back.”
“Was she around when you hit the ice?” Bucky’s words sucked him out of the memory.
Steve nodded. “Yeah. Her voice was the last voice I heard before everything went black.”
“Steve?”
Y/N’s voice crackled as it came through the comms.
“Steve, are you there?”
Steve ignored the furious beating of his heart as he spoke. “Yes. I’m here.”
“Steve, don’t die,” Y/N said, her voice breaking. “You’re not allowed to die, you understand? I don’t know how to live in a world without you in it.”
Steve felt a soft, sad smile pull at his lips. The overwhelming sense of despair that crashed against him choked the very breath that left his body. There were no words he could say, no action he could do to make her feel better. He was going to die. At this point, it was inevitable. In truth, he didn’t think he would ever be able to survive the war. Not after he lost Bucky. He knew that his life would end when this war ended.
But it didn’t stop him from imagining a life with Y/N. The love he felt for her had always found a way to cast a fog over his realism. For a while, he allowed himself to hope. To grab that kernel of light and optimism and whisper to it his final dreams for his life.
In that breathless moment, he imagined what his life would be like after this war, what it would be like if he’d lived. A life with Y/N was a faraway dream and all he wanted was to stay asleep.
But he knew it would never be. She didn’t even know how he felt and though had  plans to ask her out if he’d  lived after the war was over, now seemed like the a good time as any. “Y/N, I never got to tell you—“
“I know.” Y/N’s voice crackled once again. He could hear the pain in her words, the what ifs and what could have beens. He could almost imagine the tears that streamed down her face as she spoke. “I’ve known for a really long time and I love you too.”
Steve felt the his heart break clean into two. She loved him?
Steve felt anger and frustration rush through him.
It wasn’t fair. None of it was fair.
The girl he’d loved nearly all his life told him she loved him and yet here he was, on his way to greet death.
No one ever said war was fair but no one ever told him it could be this cruel.
“How long have you known?”
“Ever since we were kids,” she said with a sad little laugh. For a moment, Steve imagined that they were sitting in a diner as they talked and that they had all the time in the world  rather than just a few  minutes.  “I loved you ever since we were kids. I was just waiting for you to make a move and you never did.”
“I never thought a girl like you would ever want to go out with a guy like me.”
Steve could almost imagine the frown on Y/N’s face, at her brows pulling together, forming the little wrinkles Steve loved. “A guy like you? Thoughtful? Kind? Honest?”
“A guy you’d step on and squish. I thought I’d wait until after the war to ask you out.”
“Steven Grant Rogers, I’ve loved you since I was eight. I loved you before you were Captain America and I will love you after. The only thing I don’t love about you is your terrible timing.”
Steve ignored the tear that feel from his eye. Here was the girl of his dreams confessing to him that she’d loved him for as long as they knew each other. He deserved a kick on the ass for being a coward. For being the stupid bastard who didn’t let himself love her as freely as she deserved. Now all he got was a few minutes rather than the years they deserved.
“Tell you what,” Steve said, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down as he swallowed down the lump on his throat. “Why don’t we go on a date? You and me. After all of this is over, we eat dinner at Frankie’s and see where to go from there.”
There was a beat of silence before Y/N spoke again. “So long as you promise to be there.”
“I’ll be there. 7:30 sharp.”
Another beat of silence. “I’ll wear that green dress you like you so much. Just promise you’ll be there.” Y/N’s voice cracked into a sob and Steve was sure something in him cracked along with it.
He knew Y/N. He knew that there were no two people she loved more on this earth than him and Bucky. Losing Bucky broke something in Y/N, something Steve knew would take him years to fix. Steve’s death would break something in her that could never be fixed.
Steve could see that he was nearing to the glacier now, nearing the spot that Peggy had told him would cause minimal damage.
He hated this. Hated that time seemed to melt from his fingers like snow. He’d had a whole plan about his life. Return home with Bucky and Y/N by his side, and finally ask Y/N out. He’d marry her, have children with her, have Bucky be their children’s godfather, grow old with her.
And now all that seemed to melt away from him.
“As long as you promise to try and move on.”
He heard the sob that racked through her, heard the tremble in her voice as she spoke. “Steve, I can’t do that.”
“You have to,” Steve’s voice was strong, betraying none of the misery he felt as he began the plane’s slow descent towards the freezing waters. “Promise me that, Y/N. Promise me that you’ll move on. Because, I love you, Y/N. I’ve loved you a long time. I want you to live your best life and you can’t do that if you’re holding on to the past.”
“Okay,” Y/N said, her voice low in a fervent whisper that sounded an awful lot like a prayer. “I promise I’ll move on. But I also vow to be yours after this stupid war is over. I’ll be yours forever if you survive.”
“I vow I’ll always be yours, Y/N,” Steve said. He knew in his heart that his words were true. With death’s hand on his shoulders, he will always be Y/N’s.
“Steve, I love—“
And his plan plunged to the cold depths of the ocean.
“The first thing I did after I woke up from the ice was look for her,” Steve said as the memory melted away.
“I know,” Bucky said as he placed a comforting hand on Steve’s shoulder. “You told me you found her but I didn’t want to know what happened to her. I think I’m ready now.”
“She died (your age) years ago,” Steve said with a heavy sigh. “She got sick. Cancer apparently. She was in remission for a while until she relapsed. She fought til the end until her body gave out.”
Bucky seemed to pause, holding in a breath as he processed the information. “Who buried her?”
At that, a smile pulled at Steve’s lips. “After I died, she helped establish SHIELD with Peggy and Howard. She never married but she had children and grandchildren. They buried her next to our graves back home in Brooklyn.”
“Of course she wouldn’t marry,” Bucky said with an almost satisfied smirk. “I don’t think any man was ever good enough for her except for us. I could only imagine the scandal of her having kids without a husband.”
“That’s probably why she did it. Scandalizing people, especially the old coots back home, was her favorite past time.” This time, the smile that stretched Steve’s lips were wide, all nostalgia and joy.
“I think I’d like to visit her. You think you can show me where she’s buried?”
Steve nodded. “I visited her a couple of times. Let me tell you this though, seeing a gravestone with your name on it is weird.”
Bucky’s laugh rang around the open park. “I can imagine.”
Steve could hear Sam’s quick panting as he neared the bench. Sweat dripped down his face towards his grey sweater, his face puffy and his eyes wide, almost in delirium.
“I can’t believe you both left me!” Sam said as he pointed an accusatory finger at them before bracing himself against his knees and releasing a pained wheeze. “On your left my ass! You were at my front!”
“Not our fault you’re slow,” Bucky said with a challenging smirk.
“I will beat your ass up.” Sam said gravely, fixing a shrewd glare in Bucky’s direction.
“You can’t even stand up.”
“I will beat your ass up as soon as I can stand up.” Sam said, his words sandwiched between even more panting.
Steve shook his head at his arguing friends before he stood up. “Here. Take my seat.”
Sam took the seat, settling down on the stone bench in a tired slump. “Jesus, I don’t think I can move after this.”
“Great. Steve, let’s go,” Bucky said teasingly as he stood up.
“Bucky,” Steve said with a disappointed tsk and shake of his head.
Suddenly, Steve felt his body jolt as something, or rather, someone, hit his back.
“Shit, I am so sorry,” the woman said, causing Steve’s back to stiffen.
That voice. He’d recognize that voice anywhere.
He spun around in surprise, watching the woman as she straightened up.
And there she was.
The bustling of the park, Sam’s heavy breathing, even the shock in Bucky’s face as he looked at the woman, all faded in the background. His focus zeroed in on the woman’s face.
Everything about her was the same. The same innocent smile tinged with mischief; the same beautiful E/C eyes that crinkled as she smiled; the same nose. Even the way she moved was the same. The way she ran her hand through her face in embarrassment, the way she bit her lips until they turned pink, the way her face flushed in embarrassment. Her H/C was pulled back in a ponytail, the usual skirts and dresses Steve remembered she always wore was replaced by black leggings and a tight red tank top but it was still her. It was as if an angel thumbed through his memories and pulled forth the very figure of his hopes and dreams.
The only thing missing was the gleam of familiarity in Y/N’s eyes.
“I am so sorry,” the woman said, her cheeks tinging red in embarrassment.  “Trust me of all people to bump into Captain America.”
Despite his disbelief, Steve’s brows pulled together, forming into a look of hope. “You know who I am?”
“Of course I do,” she chirped happily. “You’re Steve Rogers. Mr. Captain America. And you—“ she pointed to Bucky, who was looking at her as she was his very salvation. “—are Bucky Barnes, the Winter Solider. Or, at least you were the Winter Soldier. And you—“ she pointed at Sam, who was glancing at her face back to Steve’s face back to Bucky’s face and back again to Y/N’s face “—are the Falcon.”
Realization seemed to dawn in Sam’s features as he continued to study the woman’s face. Ever the loyal friend, Sam reached a hand forward as he stood up, his previous feeling of exhaustion replaced by a polite smile as if he realized that his friends couldn’t fathom much less understand what  was going on. “Call me Sam. Pleasure to meet you, miss.”
“Y/N,” the woman said brightly, oblivious to the whoosh of breath that was knocked out from Steve’s chest. She reached for Sam’s hand, giving him a firm handshake.
Steve felt like a bucket of ice water fell on his head as he gazed at Y/N. He couldn’t seem to shake off the feeling of shock and judging by the way Bucky was staring at Y/N intently, he couldn’t either.
“You run here often?” Sam asked politely, ignoring Bucky’s look of wonder and Steve’s gaping mouth.
“First time actually. I only just moved here from Brooklyn. I didn’t know the Avengers ran here often.”
“Not the Avengers. Just us three. Occasionally, Natasha joins us,” Sam said by way of conversation as he subtly glanced at Bucky and Steve, who still haven’t said anything.
Y/N nodded politely. Politely. The Y/N he knew was only ever polite when she was around strangers. She was being polite because she didn’t know who she was, what she meant to Bucky and Steve. To her, they were Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers, war heroes and the Avengers. They weren’t Bucky and Steve, her best friends in the whole wide world.
Her eyes darted around nervously as she pursed her lips. She sent another apologetic smile towards Steve’s  direction. “Sorry again, Mr. Rogers. I didn’t meant to bump into you. I wasn’t looking where I was going.”
‘Mr. Rogers’ spurred Steve into movement, words finally finding him. “It was no problem. Please, it’s Steve. Mr. Rogers makes me feel old.”
The same old mischievous grin Steve was used to seeing on Y/N’s face appeared. “Well, you are about a hundred or so years old.”
“I’m sprightly for a hundred years or so, I think,” Steve said with a smile, betraying none of the wonder that echoed in his thoughts.
“You both are,” Y/N said as she glanced at Bucky, giving him a sweet smile. “I should get going. I have a couple rounds left before I reach my goal for the day. It was nice meeting you all.”
“You too,” Bucky blurted out, as if realizing that he hadn’t spoken at all since he first laid eyes on Y/N.
Y/N sent him another sweet smile before she jogged away.
As soon as she was out of earshot, Steve turned to his friends.
“She looked just like Y/N. It can’t be a coincidence that they have the same name.” Sam said as he watched Y/N’s retreating figure. He’d only seen pictures of Y/N from old photographers of when the trio was still in the SSR but Sam’s always been sharp and good at faces. He would have recognized Y/N even without Bucky and Steve there.
“It was her. I know it’s her.” Bucky said, resolution and determination shining in his eyes. “I don’t know how or why but I know it’s her.”
Sam frowned. “Bucky, she died years ago.”
“It was her,” Steve said, breaking apart whatever brewing argument was inevitably going to start between his friends. “I know it doesn’t make sense but it was her. I’d recognize her with my eyes closed and I know deep in my bones, it’s the same Y/N that Bucky and I grew up with. That’s Y/N.”
Hope blossomed in Steve’s chest, a warm fire that rivaled the heat of the recently risen sun on the horizon. There was no doubt in his mind that the woman he just met was Y/N. He didn’t know how something so impossible has been made possible and in truth, he couldn’t bring himself to care. Even if she couldn’t remember who she was, who Bucky was, who Steve was, he was determined to remind her.
There was the love of his life. His timing had failed him before and he wasn’t about to let that happen again.
He didn’t even realize he’d been running until Y/N’s retreating figure loomed before him, Sam and Bucky yelling out his name in vain.
“Y/N, wait!”
She turned, surprised flitting to her face before confusion settled in. She stopped running, letting Steve catch up to her.
“I hope you’re not here to tell me you plan on charging me for assault because I swear, when I bumped into you, it was an accident.” Y/N said, still clearly confused but nevertheless letting her naturally teasing nature show.
“I don’t mean to be too forward but I actually wanted to ask you out on a date,” Steve blurted out, the fast beating of his heart from his short run picking up in tempo as nervousness took over.
She startled. “You want to go on a date with me?”
“Yes.”
She seemed to consider it for a moment before she slowly nodded, a small smile gracing her lips. It lit up her whole face, reminding Steve of memories he’d long since buried. “Alright. Okay, yeah. I’ll go on a date with you. I’m pretty sure an Avenger wouldn’t actively try to kill me.”
He laughed, his laughter as warm as the hope that blossomed in his chest.
Maybe it was magic or an evil plot. His optimism would want him to believe that Y/N was a miracle though. Maybe a gift from God for all of his good deeds. Whatever it was, Steve was going to do it right this time, shitty timing be damned.
