overview: m/m resus, fluid in lungs; cpr, suction, pacing, very hardware heavy. whumpy with a happy ending.
- this was originally written as personal/private piece, I wrote to get off, but I decided to share, so the flow might be a little odd. - perspective slightly shifts from beginning to end, but nothing drastic, just a heads up. - this is my first official piece on here, hope y'all like it.
I need to hold a limp and vulnerable boy in my arms, to feel his soft skin and brittle bones fall completely to my will, I want to hold his hands in mine, knowing his life depends on me. I want to hold him as he lays unconscious in a hospital gown, to kiss his almost too cool forehead, and listen to the beep beep beep beep of the monitor as his heart struggles to beat for itself.
I want his body is intruded upon; IVs in his hands and wrists, even in the crooks of his elbows, a PICC line taped down against his bicep, a central line embedded against his chest, a jugular line if I’m really luck, giving me access to all of him, to his weak heart and sickly body. I’ll to press kisses along his arms, port to port, iv to iv, feeling the sterile plastic beneath my lips. I’ll hold his cold hands in mine, weary of the pulse ox taped to his forefing, making sure to be gentle as I hold onto him like I’m his lifeline, and in a way, I am.
I will take him into my arms as he struggles to remain in the same plane as me, slipping between the veil of life and death. I’ll call his name and shake him in a way that seems far to harsh despite my attempts to be gentle with his fragile body; I’ll to watch as his limbs flutter around helplessly, and his head lolls against my shoulder, his face remaining slack.
As his heart begins to fade, I’ll force my knuckles into his sternum, rubbing at it harshly until it is covered in bruises. I want to feel his weak attempts at whimpers and the hiss of struggled breaths, as I try desperately to force life back into his weakening chest, to make his dying heart beat a bit stronger, a bit faster. I’ll take seflish pride in knowing the pain I’m causing him is saving his life, even if something that could almost label as guilt or shame tears through my own heart.
I’ll try to help him breathe, even if I know my actions are futile; I’ll help him sit upright, laying him against my chest, fluid spilling from his lips as I use a single, gentle hand against his throat, gripped tightly around his jaw, to hold his airway nice and open, while also tilting his head slightly down to allow him to pass the fluid keeping him from getting air. Every time he begins to choke, despite lacking the energy to do so, I’ll use my finger to clear his throat of spit and fluid so he can attempt to breathe clearly. When he stutters through half a breath, choking before he can fully fill his lungs, I’ll press my mouth over his and give him some of my own breath, feeling his chest rise and fall, his cheeks pillowing and throat shifting as I do so, bobbing as he nearly chokes over the force of my air going down his throat, pressing gentle kisses to his lips between each breath.
Eventually, he’ll stop breathing against me entirely, and I will hear him gurgling on his own spit until he is too weak to attempt another, and feel his ribs stopping shifting with the far too intense effort it took to pull even the smallest amount of air into his body, and his weak attempts at coughs as his lungs give out, jerking his chest against my own pitifully, his head pulling back ever so slightly until he goes entirely slack. My own heart will ache and my stomach will tingle with something eerily similar to arousal as his heart follows suit, flickering out from its already slow rhythm until there is nothing but a sharp ringing in the air. I’ll shift the hand currently holding his airway open, letting his head sag and his airway obstruct almost completely, to press my fingers deeply into his carotid, wanting to feel for myself that he is gone.
Before I can even process the fact that his heart has truly stopped, I will quickly scoop him up into my arms, his head falling off my shoulder and sagging helplessly, causing his neck to extend in an exposed fashion, before laying him out on the bed haphazardly, surrounded by the muffed-up blue hospital sheets and myriad of lines and wires and tubes that curl around him like some sort of all-consuming halo, letting his gown ride up and become disheveled, exposing his beautiful skin; the boney curves of his chest, the way his ribs stick out ever so slightly to protect his weak lungs and weaker heart, the soft flesh of his belly, the sharp edges of his collar bone.
I’ll press my fingers to each of his leads, making sure they’re firmly stuck down where they are littered over his chest, and rearrange the wires so they lay nicely against his form. As I let my eyes scan over his unmoving body, I’ll tighten the blood pressure cuff around his thigh, just to be safe. I’ll card my fingers through his hair and study his emotionless face, pressing kisses over his closed eyes and to the corners of his cold lips.
As I half heartedly pump his chest with one hand, I’ll attempt to shove my suction tube down his throat with the other, trying desperately to do the job of 2 people, maybe three people at once, or more so, the work his body should be doing but can’t. I’ll hear the satisfying crackle of fluid leaving his wet lungs, all while his head bobs with each compression, his body offering no other reaction to the bowing of his ribs or the tube down his throat. I’ll struggle at the angle, having to abandon his heart to focus on his lungs.
I want to watch his lips turn blue as I struggle to suction all the fluid from his throat and lungs, unable to truly get any air in his lungs, no matter how many times I pressed my lips to his and blew as hard as I could, only to feel my breath gargle in his lungs. I’d shift his head over and over until I decided to place and OPA, slipping the plastic tube down his throat, finally establishing an airway; I’d use it to place a suction tube down his airway, into his lungs, finally clearing enough fluid give his body what it so desperately needed. I’ll press my warm, pink, lips to his cold, gray-ish ones, finding them sickly moist, but finally feeling air move through the plastic tube and down into his lungs, lifting his chest in the process, the warm air coming back cool.
Once I can get his airway stabilized, I’ll go back to his chest, finding his once pale ivory skin now tinted gray. His delicate ribs bow beneath my hands almost too easily, his stomach bulging and his shoulders jumping with each compression. The sound of the gentle gasps of air that leave him, almost whistling past the OPA, as I break his chest and the quiet but still harsh beeping of the EKG as it warns me of his dropping stats and the effects of my compressions on his sick heart filling my ears.
I want to make use of all those ports, filling him with fluids and drugs, desperately hooking him up to whatever I can get my hands on, anything that could potentially bring him back to me. I’ll send adrenaline straight through his PICC line, fluids and vasopressors through his IVs, trying to stabilize his dying body or bring back even the most feeble of heart beats.
I’d have to keep breathing for him, stopping my compressions when my shoulders begin to burn more than I can power through, only to drape myself over him, fingers in his hair, as I press our mouths together, breathing into the OPA, air filling past the plastic tube. I’ll repeat the action over and over again, filling my lovers lungs with air, reveling in the smoothness the airway brings to our one-sided exchange of air, how the air whisps out of it with a gentle hiss, how steady it feels when I place my hand to his chest, feeling it fill his moist lungs.
I still have to pause to suction him over and over, to keep him from drowning on his own fluids, but something about the action, feeding the tube down his throat and working it through his lungs, hearing the crackle of fluid, and even when I go back to breathing for him, his chest rattles every now and again despite my best efforts. His lips grow colder and colder against mine as time passes, but as I breathe for him again and again, they momentarily match my warmth before I go back to compressions, our last exchange feeling almost like a kiss, but surely cool when I abandon them.
I’ll pull his gown even further down to expose his full chest, and the bruises I’ve left, so I can press AED pads to his skin, feeling his bones shift beneath me as I press them to his chest firmly. I’ll shock him and watch his chest seize, and his head throw back, exposing his pretty neck, and his hands clenched tightly at his sides. I’ll shock him over and over again, each time with higher and higher voltage, his reaction to the shocks becoming more violent each time. After each attempt I’ll lean over and kiss him, gently apologizing for what I’m doing to him, only to shock him again even harder. Somehow the shame is arousing, knowing I’m breaking him, hurting him, only out of desperation.
I’ll need him to come back, I’ll beg him throughout the compressions, as my hands begin to wander from his sternum, and straying just slightly to the left, directly over his heart, because I need it to beat, I need to pump it directly so it can find the strength to restart.
I want his name to fall off my tongue like a prayer, over and over and over again, until there is nothing left in my mind. I want my actions, and my devotions to be like prayer to him, my attention to every facet of his being, even then, when he is dead under my hands, to be like worship. I want to break him, hurt him, destroy him in my attempts to revive him; burning his skin with each shock, breaking his ribs, bruising his beautiful body.
His heart restart after I’ve shocked him more times than I can count, given him more air than I can even begin to imagine, and broken his chest in a desperate manner. It’ll be weak and slow, I’ll have to guide it with my hands, continuing shallow compressions, so it doesn’t flutter back out of existence, until I grow too tired to keep up any consitancy.
I’ll switch to pacing with the AED, struggling to get it to catch a rhythm at all, turning the dial up more and more, worrying that he’s too far gone, that even though his hearts attempting to beat at the moment, its given up its fight and wants only to fizzle out and be left alone (little does it know I won’t allow that). but once it does, I’ll find pleasure in watching his chest jolt with each small shock of the pacer. I'll turn the volts up, much like I did the defib, and push his heart to be strong. I want to hold his hand as he begins to dig his nails into his palms as he is struck with pain. I can’t even bring myself to give him something for the pain out of fear of risking his heart stopping once more, even though I know it's cruel and most likely selfish to do so. I love him, I can’t lose him, I’ll torture him if it’ll keep him alive, pleasures lulls through my being at the realization.
His breathing remains non-existent, so I’ll have to keep breathing for him, keep giving him these kisses of life, knowing my air is keeping him alive, is keeping his feeble heart beating and his sad little lungs alive. I’ll switch to an ambu bag when I can’t keep his saturation up any longer, and his body has gone a sick grayish palor, far past that blue shade, for me to keep using my recycled air, and when I do, I’ll fill his lungs to the brim each time, and relish in the return of color to his skin. It was selfish to deprive him of real oxygen for so long, but the feeling of knowing I held him in limbo for so long is intoxicating.
I’d spend hours keeping him alive, holding him in my arms, sterile hospital sheets wrapped around his form in an attempt to work some color back into his skin, my lips pressing to every inch of skin I can get to, kissing him ever so gently, willing him with sweet words to stay with me. I’d breathe for him, with the ambu bag until my wrists grew sore, and only then would I indulge my need to fill him with my own air, pressing my lips to his over and over again until his stats dropped, before going back to the bag, taking breaks every time he’d start to gurgle on fluid reaching his airway, to suction fluid from his lungs once more. Maybe he’d code a few times, maybe he’d gasp a few of his own breaths, or maybe he would just lay there, letting me help him, letting me keep him alive with no struggle or resistance.
But eventually he’d flutter into consciousness, looking frantically through his lashes, eyes blown wide and teary, whining as his chest spasms with each jolt of the pacer, and gagging on the airway still sitting in his throat. I’ll insist he keeps it in for me, because I need him to be safe for me, that he still can’t hold his own airway and his heart can’t maintain its own steady beat, and that it's for his own good. I’ll tell him I’m sorry, that everything hurts, that he has to suffer through the pain because I can’t risk his precious little heart.
I’ll watch as he struggle, hands haphazardly trying to pull the pads off his chest or pull out the air way, gently restraining him as the struggle begins throwing off his heart rhythm. I’d bind them to the side of the bed, holding one hand in my own, stroking his cheek with the other. I’d promise him that I was sorry, that he had to leave it, that he needed it, that is was for his own good, that it would all be over soon. I’d kiss away his tears as he struggled to remain conscious, finding trust in his tired puppy dog eyes.
I won’t allow him to breathe on his own, not unassisted, no, I’d sit behind him, leaning him against my chest, his head rested in the crook of my shoulder, aiding each and every breath with the ambu bag, oxygen turned up full flow, making sure his chest fills completely each time. His lungs are still weak and soggy, I still need to suction him every now and then, which is harder now that he’s conscious, but twice as pleasing, cutting off his air so that way he doesn’t continue to choke
treating him seems to be a lot like that, ebb and flow, doing harm in the moment to do good in the future, hurting him to keep him alive, torturing him because I love him, shame turning into pleasure
I’ll watch his eyes roll back as he loses grip on reality, lashes fluttering, alarms blaring, fluid crackling through the suction, something twisting in me in the most divine way. Once I’m finished I make sure to give him deep, almost too full breaths, rubbing his sternum until his eyes snap open, flashing to me in a panicked manner. I’ll kiss him and tell him everything is alright, that I’ve got him, that he’s safe with me, because he is, I’d shift the tides to keep him here with me. He’ll look up at me, still scared, confused even, and in pain, but all I’ll see is trust, trust that I’m protecting him, trust that I wouldn’t be hurting him if I didn’t have to, trust that I love him and thats why I’m doing this.
He’d submit himself to me, letting his eyes fall blankly around the room, his own breathing completely stopped, not because he can’t, but because he knows I’ll do it for him, his body going completely pliant against me so I can shift him and hold him and work him however I need without any problem.
In time his heart will strengthen, part of me is too worried to take him off the pacer, but I do slip him some morphine, and he finally slips into a blissful enough state to sleep. I’ll slip out from behind him, settling him up on the pillows gently, making sure his airway remains stable. I’ll decide to switch him to a breathing bag, so he can breathe on his own, but I’m still able to assist when needed, giving me an opportunity to let my mind stray.
I keep part of my mind locked on his body, the sound of his breathing, the way his chest moves as he inhales, the spasm caused by the pacer, the force it takes him to get air in, the palor of his skin; another on the monitor, what his vitals look like, if any alarms are going off; a third on the bag, watching him inhale, deflating the bag slightly before it refills with air. But the rest is focused on him, his pretty face, the bruises I’ve left all over him, on his chest, his jaw, even his lips are all red and swollen. His ribs are battered beyond belief, there are surely burns under the AED pads from how long they’ve sat on his body, his palms are bloodied from how tightly he’s clenched his hands tight, but something about all that is beautiful, all tragic like. It makes me want to just sit and stare, and to be frank, I do. I sit and I watch, hushing him when the morphine begins to wear off, squeezing the bag when he struggles to breath on his own, holding his hand still bound to the bed all throughout the night, savoring his beauty, almost like he’s now too fragile to touch.
In the morning, I’ll take the airway out and let him breathe on his own, feeling an odd disappointment in my relinquishment of control, almost shoving it back in when he chokes hard, coughing up fluid into his lap, his eyes panicked, but a few blows to the back and a rebreather mask takes the edge off and eventually he settles back into the pillows, where he’ll watch me dazily as I rub his chest, trying to get his breathing to fully settle until he falls back to sleep. His heart rate remains steady so I begin to wean him off the pacer, lowering the voltage bit by bit until I feel sure I can take them off. All the while, he doesn’t say a word, his throat is bruised from my efforts, but he watches me idly, like he wants to say something.
He’s still sick, there's still fluid in his lungs, and his hearts still weak, his output is low and his rhythm is bradycardic, but manageable with atropine, his saturation fluctuates, but upping his oxygen helps that too. He watches me float about his room, doting or while I’m working on him, listening to his heart and lungs with the stethoscope (hissing at his wet lungs once) more pushing meds, suctioning his lungs, cleaning around his ports. He even watches while I’m looking at the machines keeping him alive, listening as I babble to him mindlessly. He smiles, leans back, chest huffing lightly;
“I love you,” I barely hear him, his voice is quiet and broken, he coughs lightly between each syllable, but he says it. He looks at me like I’ve hung the stars (and his morphine), holding out his sickly looking hand, which I take immediately. “You saved me.”
He smiles, his perfect, soft, glowing smile, despite everything else happening to him, lightly squeezing my hand to the best of his ability, his head sinking into the pillow like it takes all his strength just to do so, and in reality, it easily could. But that doesn’t stop him from pulling my hand up to his chest, right over his heart, where it's thumping against his splinted ribs. I go to speak, to assure him that of course I did, but he pushes me with a gentle look.
“I’m here, cause of you, you saved me,” his words are floaty, like he’s not 100% there, but he looks at me, eyes wide, sure of himself, before pulling my hand up to his carotid, letting my fingers find his pulse, weak and slow, but there. “I’m still here, and I’m going to stay here, because I have you. and you won’t let me go.”
He wraps both of his IV ridden hands around my arm, his skin cool against mine, bringing it to his mouth so he could kiss my fingers. It was odd, feeling the boy he had just spent hours resuscitating and stabilizing, be the one to take care of him, even as minisculely as he was now, but touch was far from foreign, and the look in his eye was far too comforting not to lean into.
We would most certainly have to talk, really talk, about everything, but that could wait, right now, all I planned to do, was hold onto my boy, to feel him breathing, to hear his heart rate on the monitor, knowing I got him back, that all of it was worth it, cause he was here, and his still love me, despite the pain and the fear, the selfish choices made out of my own lust. It’d be fine. We’re fine.

---
You flatlined twice, almost as soon as you were handed off to the medics.
Committing themselves to doing CPR before bringing in the defibrillator for an electric charge to your sudden cardiac arrest. "Clear!" They restarted your heart just outside the hallway of your cell, Simon held back by Price as your heart stopped again within the same minute and panic ensued. Johnny and Kyle hearing the news, rushing up towards the hall, their footsteps probably the echo that you held onto as your heart rate picked back up.
Clearly, you lived.
You didn't have the luxury of going comatose immediately after. As you would've preferred.
You'd awoken hours after the medical team carried you off to the infirmary. Still on edge, still plagued by discomfort and cold, despite the lights of the recovery facility and the nurses that paraded around you.
Morphine wears off in about 6 hours, so you were up wailing in agony within the same time. Clearly no one expected you up so soon, but you hadn't slept in days, at least not more than an hour. Jerking up involuntarily, hands all over you to keep you down and steady, you could hear a familiar doctor's attempt to calm you down. But, the blistering pain that radiated from every pore in your body was ringing so loud, a present noise that blocked everything out.
So, at first, you'd been terrified, attempting to clutch onto the first thing you'd woken up to. But, you couldn't move, at least not voluntarily.
With the damage to your spine for countless hours, days, and what you had discovered to be two fucking weeks of endless torture, you'd undergone three difference corrective surgeries that would 'possibly' fix the nerve and circulatory damage done to you. It had left you nearly completely immobile since your admission into the infirmary. The doctors were quite astonished that you were even alive...
The nurses were patient enough with your panicked state to slowly ease you out of your stupor. But, at times it wasn't easy, especially when you didn't even know where you were at first. Since you couldn't see...
You were blind for about four days. Everything a tinted red for a few more after you'd regained your sight.
Fevers plagued you for the week, skin that was raw and inflamed from the severe cold and constant dousing from the pipes, you couldn't move if you wanted to.
The first thing you'd been graced to see were the multiple arrangements of flowers, lilies, white tulips, hydrangeas, roses...typical assortments of regret and remorse.
"Can someone throw these away?" had been your first words.
The nurse who had been checking over your vitals looks over at the flowers, the were all over the desk, even on the floor lining the windows, once they ran out of space to put them. It was beautiful. But, she knew why. Everyone knew why. You were quite famous here in the infirmary, as you were in special unit. "Of course."
They were out within the day. The room bare once more.
And then you saw them outside your infirmary window. Just a glimpse. Around the time you were still getting your sight back.
Seeing them for the first time since everything made bile build up in your throat, a screaming fear that created a pulsing headache.
Kyle, Johnny, Price and...you didn't see Simon.
Price was...a statue. Not moving an inch. His hand against his mouth, covering up the aching distress anyone could see on his face.
Kyle was pacing, back and forth and back and forth. Making an offhanded comment at one of them every few seconds.
But, Johnny was talking, pointing spitefully at someone out of your view.
He was there too then. Simon.
Turning away from the window, you couldn't look at them anymore.
"Don't let them in," you breathe out to your doctor as she sets down a trayed mug on your sliding table as she sits you up to drink a hot cup of tea, which you had requested. "Any of them. Please." You were still so cold, you couldn't imagine dealing with any type of cold weather for a while after dealing with this.
She's confused a moment, before turning to the doorway, where she recalled seeing the four men waiting outside in the hallway. She's seen them just sitting there for days now, they wouldn't beg or argue to come in, they'd just wait. It's not like you were cleared for visitors yet anyway.
Every morning she clocked in for the job, there they were. Sitting there like abandoned children, awaiting the moment the door would open to be welcomed inside.
It was like they never left.
Of course she knew who they were to you. Word spreads fast on the base. Especially for a Task Force as 'famous' as they were around here.
Squeezing your shoulder, comfortingly. Feeling protective, your doctor spoke, "Of course," she slides the mug forward a bit, taking the teaspoon to stir once and lift it to toward your lips to sip. "Blow," she guided.
You did. And sipped.
And it was warmer than any blanket they'd wrapped you in.
---
Prior to being able to trudge around on your own, with the help of a crutch you'd been given to go to the bathroom by yourself finally, the nurses had sponged you down in bed. Your spinal surgeries led to you being at risk if they made efforts to remove you from your bed for anything more than a medical emergency.
Mostly, because you're terrified of the showerhead....and it's pathetic, but no one judges you for it as you opt for a sponge bath every time instead. Even if you're shaking as the water slides down your skin even now. The last thing you needed on top of all this was to develop aquaphobia.
Today was the first day you could do it on you own, limping your way to the bathroom with your crutch. The smell of bleach is much stronger in here, it stings your nose.
You stared at the metal stool left tucked at the side, walking around it as if it would pounce up and attack you, you try not to look at it. You'd been doing well without panic attacks for a few days now, just hold it together.
Taking a breath, you reach out to the handle for the spout, glancing up at the showerhead, before back down. Swallowing thickly when you begin to turn it before pausing, hearing the water rush up the pipe to spill out. Turning it back up just as quickly, shutting off the pipe, you inhale deeply, trembling now, hand up to the chilled tile to steady yourself.
You'll try again, you had to.
Drip...
Drip...
Unable to help yourself, the sudden rush of paranoia that runs through you is terrible, a hoarse cry leaves you. You shove yourself away from the shower stall, back ramming into the doorframe, catching yourself, and away from the showerhead as the water drips, slowly from the faucet.
Drip...
Drip...
As panic tightened its grip around your chest, your breaths quickly turned to short, sharp gasps. The room spinning, colors blurring into a dizzying whirlwind. You turn swiftly, nearly knocking yourself off your feet as the thudding of your own heart startles you, you can hear it in your ears, in your hands, in your feet.
You press a trembling hand to your chest, clawing over the area, trying to slow the frantic pace of your breathing, but it only seemed to escalate. The small room narrowing to a black hole of fear and suffocation, every gasp began to disorient you, turning lightheaded.
As tears welled in your eyes, you collapse against the side wall, sliding down to the tiled floor. Slamming your palm against your chest, once, twice, as hot tears leave streaks down your bruised face, you beg your lungs to expand and wait for your breathing to regulate.
Beginning to sob uncontrollably as you hit yourself in the chest again and again and again, waiting for the moment you found yourself able to breathe.
Why did this have to happen?
You remember the violent swing of the baton against your face, the sting it leaves afterwards, the immediate spotting of bruises forming. The memory startles you, receding back into yourself, back to that day.
"It wasn't me..." you cried loudly, in the empty room. It echoes against the tiles.
Simon wrapping his hands around your neck, staring you down as he squeezed, maliciously. You couldn't breathe as your lover shook with the strength he uses to hold himself back from taking your life.
"I'm sorry," you hiccupped. "I'm--I'm sorry," you're not sure when you crawled yourself into the corner, the lights of the bathroom flickering off dimly from your lack of movement. As you're drowned in darkness, the water dripping from the spout, the cold tile against your skin, it's too much. You scramble upwards, running out of the bathroom.
The automatic lights flicker back on inside, but you're too in your head to notice.
Stumbling down to your knees as you feel the rip of a ruined stitching tearing along your side. "Ah!" comes your startled cry. Making it to the side of your hospital bed, you fist your hand through your sheets, unable to stand yourself up.
Taking pained breaths against the sterile sheets, you bury your head in them, cursing whatever luck you thought you had in this life.
They were your family...
All you had for so many years...
As your breathing slows to distraught, agonized huffs of air, sniffling to yourself as you catch sight of your face in the metal frame of your hospital bed. The dark purple bruises beneath your eyes as the swelling gradually went down, the still bloodshot left eye of yours, the twelve stitches on the left side of your face. So gruesome you knew it would scar you for life, a permanent reminder on your fucking face.
Anger bubbled up inside you at the sight of it. At the memory that would always follow when you'd look at it.
Anger that you hadn't been able to properly feel until now.
Anger that you feared to have until today.
"Are you alright?" the sound of his voice makes you visible tense.
Simon.
He's here.
You don't turn to face him, if you did, you'd revert back to the person you were cowering into moments ago. "The door was open...I just--" he pauses, swallowing thickly. "Lemme help you up."
Hearing his footsteps suddenly moving closer, you speak fast. "STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!" you scream over your shoulder, tucking yourself further away from him. "Do NOT move."
He stops in his tracks. You catch the sight of him in the metal framing of the bed, he's a blur in the metal, but you notice his mask is gone, he's Simon Riley now, not Ghost as he appeared to you in the interrogation cell.
"Don't you dare get any closer," you spat.
"I heard you," he spoke, carefully. Mouth opening and closing, before speaking again. "But, you don't have to be stubborn. If you stay there any longer you could tear your stitches."
"Whose fault is that?"
Simon shifts his stance on his feet, waits a second. "I know. And I can never begin to tell you how sorry I am for what I did. What we all did to you," he says, quietly. "The intel we discovered...or that was forged, it came from a source we've used a dozen times, (Y/n), we thought it was true. It had to be. We've never been misled before."
"So..." your nails bite into your skin, you make an amused sound, biting down on your lip for a moment, till it hurt. " That's what you came here to say, huh? What you waited days to--. Is this you justifying--"
"No, (y/n), that's not--"
"--why you tortured me, strangled me, stripped me, in that fucking cell, Simon?"
"We had to believe it, at the time..."
"Was I not a trusted source?" you argued. "Had I not proven more than a thousand times that you could trust me? I've fought next to you, laid in your bed, given you my love, my trust, I--" you shook with rage at the time and energy wasted on time family, this relationship, if the end goal was always meant to just be this.. "I thought that was at least half the reason you decided to marry me..." at the mention of your relationship, you could see the way Simon nearly lost his balance, hands coming up to run along his face. "You told me you would kill me in that room..."
"I was just talking, I wouldn't have--" his voice cracks as he whispers, trying to convince.
"When you left, I thought you'd come back to kill me any minute, or Price, to spare you. I waited to die for two days, terrified out of my mind. I wondered about heaven, not if I'd make it... but what it'd be like, what I'd be missing out on," you thought back to your time in that cell, a haunted expression Simon couldn't see. "While you all got a good nights rest, woke up for some bacon and eggs, and listened to the warden tell you that your prisoner was framed...for a crime you'd already punished her for..." you stuttered on your breathing, tears flowing silently.
Simon inhales deeply. "I could never expect you to forgive me. I-I had taken my hurt out on you, I thought you did it, I was so sure. I couldn't hear what you were saying, I just could see the evidence, and I--I'm sorry. I'm sorry, love. I'm truly--" he gets to his knees behind you.
"Get up."
"I can never tell you how sorry I am---"
"Simon."
"I never should've done this to you. If I could ever--" his voice rising with distressed breaths, you didn't have to look at him to see his face a mess of sorrow, tears that would mix into the stubble on his face.
"Simon!"
"--make it up to you. If you could ever find it in your to forgive me, (y/n). I'll spend the rest of my life--" he gets closer, reaching out.
Whipping around, stiffening completely as you feel the graze of his fingers across your skin, "DON'T TOUCH ME!" you shove your back against your bedding, your hand swinging and flying across his face. His head snapping to the side as he pauses, freezing up where he kneels, having completely forgotten your request to stay put. "What's the matter with you! Even now? Even now, you can't just listen to this one thing?!"
"I-I'm sorry..." He looks at you, finally seeing your face clearly and up close since it all happened. Finally he can see the bruises along your face, the blood that fills your eye, the dark bruise still around your neck.
Seeing him. He looks rough. Honestly, he looks terrible. His hair shaggy and falling over his eye. Dark circles with bags under them. Pale, and thinner than he should be.
His jaw clenches with guilt and he averts his eyes, you continue. "How could I forgive you for this?" you stare at him, "I could forgive you, if you hadn't let them chain me up like an animal. If you hadn't watched them drown me for hours, beat me black and blue and left me screaming for days. I could forgive you if you had just believed me even for a moment." you feign thoughtfulness. "How about you look at my face. My wrists. My legs! MY FUCKING SPINE, SIMON!"
"Nothing I can say or do, will ever make any of it ok, I know that. And I can't ask for you to ever forgive--"
"What could I possible owe you in this life, that makes you think I'd even think about forgiving any of you for the things you did to me?" you gritted out, angrily.
Simon's head drops, a slow, shuttering sigh leaves him. "I'll never stop trying to make this right. Never."
"...Get out, Simon."
"I'm sorry."
"Simon."
"I'm so sorry..." he reaches out again.
"Ghost."
He's silent this time, fingers tensing, out in mid air.
"I never wanna see you again."
"I love you, (Y/n)," he confessed, eyes feral and wide. Pulling at the ends of your slip.
"I don't want to hear that, Ghost," kicking away from him. "Stop it."
"I couldn't stop even as it happened--"
"Shut up. And get out," shaking as you sneered at his desperate attempts. "It's over, Ghost."
"And I took it on you. It hurt so much, I couldn't think," Simon's face twisted with agony and remorse. "I'm sorry!"
He was making you lose your goddamn mind, you broke. "GET THE FUCK OUT!" screaming at one another as overwhelming tears escaped your eyes.
---
It's quiet in your hospital room, it's empty now, the door closed this time.
The door knob turns and opens again a moment later. "Oh no, Ms. (L/n)!" luckily it was your assigned nurse, who takes your arm and fixes it around her shoulder before helping haul yourself up to your feet. "What're you doing on the floor? There's a call button for a reason," she scolds as you sit on the edge of your bed.
You're quiet.
Alarmingly so for your nurse, who notices the pulled stitching that creates a line of blood down your side. "If this is about what happened to you..." the nurse started, speaking carefully, pulling a lining of gauze from the side to press to your skin. You don't even wince at the pressure, even when she begins to clean and replace the broken stitch. "Don't let it break you. Not even further than this experience already has..." she says, while through the last stitch and prepping a bandage.
"I've been broken long before this," you whispered, looking towards the afternoon sun shining through your window. "This. This didn't break me, no," you admitted, before glancing up with glossy eyes, rage hidden beneath a profound look of sadness. "It destroyed me."
Her hand pauses at your side, your words startling, turning to see the tear that slips down your cheek. Knowing now how deep your scars were from this, before gently sliding the last of the bandage across your skin. "Do not think you are irreparable. That time can't heal your wounds."
"But, there's always reminders," touching the stitches on your cheek, "some things can't be forgiven."
"I never said to forgive..." the nurse interjected. "If you could, after all this, you're stronger than any woman that could be named."
You snicker at that, humming soundly. "That's an interesting thought. I guess I'm one of the weaker ones then."
"And yet, still the strongest I've ever met," she finishes. Pats your cheek, "click the button next time. Save us both the heart attack."
"Noted," you assured.
As she's prepping to leave for her rounds, you open your mouth, once, twice, before clearing it. "Is it possible, someone could help me out--the water..."
"Of course," the nurse says, quickly. "Don't worry, I understand. I'll get everything set for you."
As she walks away, you breathing out your appreciation, you take a long inhale, swallowing down the heaviness in your chest.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lando was frantically pacing your apartment when you walked in, eyes wild, as if he hadn’t slept, and hair an absolute disheveled state. his usually sun-kissed skin seemed to get even paler when he heard the door shut behind you, coming to a halt in your kitchen and staring at you as though he’d seen a ghost.
“lando?” you questioned, confused as to, a) why he was here so early, and b) why he looked like he was about to confess that he had killed your entire bloodline.
“baby, i’m so sorry.” your blood ran cold. what had he done? he closed the space between you, tentatively taking your hands.
“lando… what’s going on?” you tilted your head, starting to sweat in your oversized leather jacket. you’d just been out running errands, picking up bits for the dinner you were supposed to be sharing with the mclaren driver, much later in the day.
“i didn’t think anyone had seen us but then i had my assistant, the entire pr department and my mother phoning me, and then max called and said that him and pietra wanted to see if we were okay, before i could call anyone else back which confused the fuck outta me, so i finally checked twitter and there it was and i just got in the car and came here but god, i’m so sorry.” lando finally exhaled, looking like he was about to pass out, with creases so deep on his forehead that you thought they’d stay there permanently.
“okay, lando? sweetheart? yeah, okay i’m gonna need a bit more info.” you over enunciated each word, stressing that you were still in the absolute dark about whatever was on the verge of sending him into cardiac arrest.
“there’s photos. of us. kissing.” he finally said, quietly, and after a good ten seconds of staring at you in utter fear.
“fucking hell, i thought something terrible had happened. jesus christ, lando.” you exhaled, eyes wide. he stared at you like you’d grown a second head, stepping forward to mockingly rest his hand against your forehead as if he was checking your temperature.
“are you… are you… okay?” lando asked, eyebrow quirked. he was shocked at how calm you were.
you’d both agreed to keep your relationship private, and over the last five months, that had gone swimmingly well. but some low quality photos taken, as you waited for some friends outside a restaurant in the outskirts of london, had fucking launched the cat out of the bag.
“how bad are the pictures? are we naked or something?” you scoffed at him and now lando was truly confused.
“no, but- but i thought we were gonna keep this quiet.” he murmured.
“i know, baby, but okay, it’s out. is that really so bad? it was bound to happen eventually.” you reasoned, and lando finally saw your point.
“i just want to protect you, from all of the lights and the flashing cameras. love you too much to lose you to those vultures.” lando dipped his forehead against yours as he spoke, eyes locked on yours. you couldn’t help but smile at him, the loveliest man you could have wished for.
“oh, my sweet, sweet boy,” you crooned, pecking his lips. “you know i love to show off.” he laughed at that, a low rumbling in his chest.
you pulled away, stepping around him and walking further into your apartment, dropping all of your stuff down in your kitchen.
“anyways, i already saw the pictures. we look hot.” you ignored his incredulous ‘what?’, waving him off. “now, come here and help me make dinner.”

Content warning: mentioned vomiting.
A man is standing by the door of your apartment.
You take a few steps down the stairs to hide because he seems suspicious. He's dressed in all black with the hoodie pulled over his head, casting a dark shadow over his face and making it hard for you to identify him.
If that was someone you know, he would call you and let you know that he's outside your apartment. To add to your suspicion, he starts pacing back and forth by the door of your apartment.
You duck to get out of his sight and you shouldn't be afraid because you are in your apartment building, he's trespassing, and you have the rights to send him away.
As a precaution, you rummage inside your bag for your keys and tuck one between your fingers as a weapon. It's not the best form of self-defense but just in case it's not working, all you have to do is scream loud enough for your neighbors to hear you.
You take cautious steps up the stairs and approach the mysterious man who has his back facing you. You swallow air as your heart starts beating so fast that you feel like having a cardiac arrest.
The sound of his phone ringing interrupted the suspenseful moment and the man picks it up immediately, "Yeah, I don't think she's home. Do you..."
Wait, you know this voice but you can't pinpoint who it belongs to. It's like listening to an old song and trying to guess who sang it.
The hand that is raised and ready to attack slowly drops to your side as you rake your brain and try to remember.
The man suddenly turns around and in reflex, your hand raises to attack him again to only abruptly stop once you see his face.
"Whoa! Whoa! Calm down!" He says with his hands up.
Then you recognize the freckles, the small mouth, the nose, and his deep voice that you finally remember who it belongs to.
"Felix?" You ask in disbelief.
"Yeah, it's me!" He says with his hands still raised and a horrified look on his face.
You miss him so much your eyes teared up that you finally get to see him in the flesh.
"Were you about to punch me?" He asks, eyeing the key between your knuckles.
You cry-laughing in response, "And I'm still going to punch you," you say.
You proceed with your plan, playfully punching him in the chest, "You said you would never forget me when you become famous," you say between your exhausted grunts.
You gently push him away, sending him staggering backward, "you lied to me," you say with your index finger pointed right at him.
He laughs and walks up to you again, "Hey, come on! That's why I'm here," he says, opening his arms to welcome you to hug him.
It's useless to try to act upset when you're immensely happy to see him again, the frown on your face gradually turns into a smile.
"I miss you," he says, being the one to hug you first.
You cave in almost instantly and hug him back, letting the memories from the teen years you spent together flood your head like a fast-paced montage. You hug him as someone who misses her best friend would, tightly and warmly. What is there left to do than letting him know it with words?
"I miss you," you say back, saying it makes it real that you feel a sting in your heart.
-
"How did you know where I live?"
You take two cans of beer out of the fridge and push the fridge door close with your hips.
Felix is looking at the wall covered with photographs you took from your years of studying photography abroad.
"Your mom told my mom and my mom told me," he walks to the sofa to sit next to you, taking one of the beer cans from you.
"Thanks," he mutters, doesn't waste a second to open it.
You also take a long gulp, unexpectedly thirsty from experiencing a short adrenaline rush earlier.
"Oh, my God! I forgot that our moms are friends," you say.
You and Felix were neighbors thus explaining how the decade-long friendship formed since you were in middle school.
"Unlike us," you jokingly add.
While you had to leave to study abroad, Felix stayed and pursued his dream to study music which marked the part of your lives branched out, growing apart from each other.
"Here we are now," he says and clinks his can of beer with yours.
You smile and take a small sip.
"So, you're a photographer now?" he puts down his drink and leans back with his arms outstretched on the headrest of the sofa.
"Yep!"
"And how is it going?" He turns his head at you with his hand playing with the end of your hair.
"It's great! I got fully booked until the end of the year," you answer with a sly grin.
"That's incredible!" He sincerely praises.
"Yes, it is!" You take another sip of beer, then burst into laughter.
"Except that I'm lying," you sadly add as the laughter turns into a grim look.
Felix doesn't say anything but put his arm around you, lets you rest your head on his shoulder, and endearingly pats your shoulder to comfort you.
"I'm glad that we're reconnecting cause now I know I can borrow some money from you," you say with a heavy sigh.
He nudges your shoulder with his, "I'm sure it's not that bad," he says.
"It is that bad. I'm barely booked for a job," you admit how pathetic you are to a friend you haven't seen in years but it's relieving to have someone you can openly tell your worries to.
His arm draws you closer so he can plant a kiss on top of your head, "just give it some time," he says.
It's the one thing that doesn't change in him: a man of physical affection. As someone who knows him for years, you don't mind him entering your personal space because that's just how he shows his affection, it's through physical touches. As he brushed your hair with his fingers, you feel nothing but comfort.
"Are you busy tomorrow?" He asks.
"It's the perks of being a freelance photographer, you have a flexible working time which technically means that I'm jobless so yeah, I'm not busy at all," you ramble as you catch his hand and clasped it with his.
"How about we have fun and have some good music tomorrow night?"
You get what he meant when he said 'tomorrow night', his band is having a concert and you need the distraction from this adulting thing.
You turn your head to look at him, "I would love that."
He smiles while looking down at you, "I'll have someone pick you up tomorrow afternoon," he says.
You tilt your head up, "Doesn't it starts at seven?"
"You don't want to join us for the soundcheck?" He asks back.
You grin at the thought of being exclusively invited to it, "can I bring my camera?"
He thinks for a moment, "I think so, yeah," he doubtfully answers.
His phone has been vibrating inside his jeans pocket but he keeps ignoring it. You leer at him, "It's okay if you have to go," you tell him.
He takes his arm away and pulls his phone out to reject the call, "It's my manager. We have tons of interviews to do tomorrow before the show so..." he sucks air through his teeth instead of finishing his sentence.
You get it that he feels bad for not having time to catch up on a lot of things with you yet he has responsibilities to do on behalf of his job.
"Then go!" You simply tell him.
He squints his eyes at you, "Are you kicking me out?"
"Yes," you take his jacket from the armrest of the sofa and toss it at him.
As much as you wanted to catch up with him, you can't be selfishly holding him from fulfilling his duty. Moreover, he needs the rest.
It's close to midnight and the street is almost empty, it's a good thing, there's a thin chance of people recognizing him.
"You wanted to punch me earlier and now I got kicked out of your apartment," he mumbles as he pushes the door to get out of your apartment building.
"Goodness, Felix!" You sigh and it feels weird calling his name again after a long time.
You hail a cab from across the street for him and the other hand holding his, "We'll meet again tomorrow, remember?" you remind him.
The taxi stops on the side of the road and you open the door for him.
Felix puts his arms around you, pulling you into a hug, "I'm so happy to see you again," he says with a breath of relief.
Knowing that the feeling is mutual, you smile as you hug him back, "me too, Felix, me too," you say, rubbing the small of his back to let the words seep into him.
"See you tomorrow!" Felix doesn't hesitate to kiss your cheek, a long, lingering one then lets go after a while.
He flashes a warm smile at you as he gets into the taxi, "go back inside!"
You nod, walking backward toward the entrance of your apartment building with your hand waving at him, "Goodnight!"
You watch the taxi drives away which makes you hit by a wave of nostalgia.
The day you left to study abroad, Felix sent you away in a taxi and you remember crying so hard the whole ride to the airport, heartbroken by the fact you won't be meeting someone like him to where you were going.
The moment you're back at your apartment, you dig into your vinyl collection, searching for an old record you haven't been playing in a long time.
"Gotcha!" You exclaim when you finally found it. You rush to the record player and carefully place the needle on the vinyl.
As the song starts playing, you sit by the window sill with a new can of beer, looking out at the view of the city with its blinking lights. It surely reminds you of those grueling first few days of living so far away from home. You cooped in your small flat and listened to this song through the headphones, being severely homesick.
"So what do you say? You can't give me the dreams that are mine anyway."
It wasn't a place or a certain object or the dull routine that you long to do, Felix's face ran through your head whenever you thought of home.
"You're half the world away... Half the world away..."
And tonight, you want to replace the bittersweet memory it elicits and plant a new one so the next time you listen to this song, you'd think of this day when you finally reunited with him.
"I've been lost. I've been found. But I don't feel down."
-
The car is pulling up right in front of you and you doubt that it's the one Felix sent to pick you up. The car is way too big and too fancy to pick up someone like you.
The window rolls down and you see someone with a bleached, buzzcut hair on the driver's seat.
"Are you a friend of Felix?" He asks.
It takes you a moment to process such a simple question, "Y-yes, I am."
"Okay, great, get in the car then!" He says.
You stand there and exchange confused glances at each other.
"I came here to pick you up," he explains, "Felix sent me."
He butchered the key information that assures you he's the one Felix ordered to get you to the venue. Seeing that you're not convinced yet, he pulls out an ID hung around his neck.
"I would appreciate it if you get in the car right now or else, we'll be late for the soundcheck," he says.
You stifle a nod and get into the car, sitting on the passenger's side, and putting on your seatbelt quickly.
"And thank you for sitting in the front," he says.
He drives fast despite the heavy traffic on the way to the concert venue. While waiting for the traffic light to turn green, he uses the opportunity to introduce himself.
"I'm Lou, by the way," he introduces himself.
You introduce yourself back, "Are you working for the band?"
He sucks air through his teeth, "you can say that, yeah," he vaguely answers.
You don't want to pressure him to answer your question especially when you just met him minutes ago.
After driving past the intersection, he continues to speak more about himself, "I'm a friend of Han and he got me to work with him, as a roadie."
"Ah, I get it," you lowly exclaim.
"I guess it's better than staying unemployed," he says.
You nod, agreeing with him. Anything is better than having no money.
"What about you? I heard you're a photographer?"
"That's right, yeah, I'm a freelance so I'm as good as a jobless person," you jokingly say.
He glances to see that you're not bringing anything but a sling bag, "you're not taking any cameras with you?"
You planned on taking one but you doubt that they'll let you take any pictures in there anyway so you decided not to. You still can take pictures with your phone anyway.
"I'm not sure if they'll allow me..."
He nods, "Yeah, I'm not sure either."
You let out a breath of relief knowing that you made the right decision.
Lou parks the car at the back of the concert venue, he tells you to keep following him but he walks so fast that you start to panting.
"ID, please?" The security asks him.
He shows his ID at him then points at you, "She's with me."
Lou continues walking fast while greeting everyone he meets on the way. It's like walking in a maze but he takes you to one of the doors that leads to the pit.
"I think we're late," he says.
As he pushes it open, the sound of music playing greets you.
There they are, the three of them on the stage, adjusting their instruments to get them ready for the soundcheck.
"Sit whenever you want!" Lou tells you.
You nod and find it hard to choose where to sit despite they're all empty.
"I'll come back in a few minutes with a pass for you," he says before leaving.
"Thank you," you mutter to him but he probably can't hear it against the blasting electric guitar playing from the stage.
You can spot his red hair, catching your eye right away as if his head caught on fire.
He's shredding his guitar, playing a riff that you recognize is an intro from one of their songs. On the back, you see Felix, tightening the screws on his drums and checking his pedal.
The other one is setting the amplifier next to Felix's drums, playing his bass to see if it's the tune he desired.
It doesn't stop there, next, they're checking their mics by calling their names into it.
"Check one two, one two, it's Han," he says into the mic.
You wouldn't say you don't know any of them because who doesn't?
Ssick is a band founded by Han, the vocalist and informally, the frontman of the band. He met Felix at a college and started jamming together but to start a band, they needed a guitar player, so Felix introduced him to Hyunjin who's now their main guitarist.
So they began playing as a band from one place to another throughout their college years and they grew a great following.
A year later, they got offered a record deal. Little did they know, they're off to great things. It's their third year as a band now.
As you grow older, you're off the radar on knowing what's popular these days so you can't exactly know how big they are but they're having a showcase concert to promote their third album right now so that says a lot.
They start playing a song on the stage right now, it's one that you heard so many times on the radio and again that says a lot about their popularity.
You can't help but notice how much Felix has grown, he used to be this boy who eats sweets and left the wrappers strewn around your bedroom floor and now he's there, being what he always wanted to be, a drummer for a band, a rockstar.
It sounded like a silly dream back then but look at him, proving that you're wrong.
You unconsciously get up from your seat once the soundcheck is done and clap your hands together, you doubt that they can hear it because you're sitting far enough and they get off the stage right away.
"Okay, now what we're doing?" You awkwardly ask yourself.
Lou says he'll be away for a few minutes but he hasn't come back yet. You look around the empty arena only to spot a few staff putting numbers on the seats.
It won't be long until one of them find out that you're an intruder walking around the concert venue, it's not like they would believe that you're a friend of one of the band member. Things don't work out that way.
You exit through the same door Lou took you in and start looking for him. The faster you get to him, the better chance you get of not getting kicked out.
However, the constant reminder of telling yourself to put on a calm face only makes you even more suspicious. Someone spotted you walking through the hallway and makes his way toward you, it's too late to turn back.
"Sorry, miss," the tall guard says.
He looks for something which you believe is an ID hanging around your neck.
"May I know what your business here is?"
You open your mouth but nothing comes out of your mouth, it isn't like you commit a crime but it feels like you got caught stealing something.
"I-I got here with Lou," you stammer.
"Who?"
"Lou, I came here—" your throat is closing up the more you try to explain, "but h-he went to get me—"
"I'm sorry, miss. I can't let you walk around here without an ID," he sternly says, holding his hand out to escort you somewhere.
Somehow you find yourself walking to where he's leading you as you try to come up with something convincing, "I'm a friend," you say.
With a flat smile, you know he dismissed you right away.
"I swear, I know Felix," you say but that sounds delusional coming from you who have no proof whatsoever.
From the opposite direction, you notice a familiar face who you think may be able to get you out of this dire situation.
You only have a little time as you're about to meet in the middle, hesitated and groggy, you call out his name.
"Hyunjin?"
You see him walk past you with his headphones on. Hopeless, you pull the sleeve of his jacket at once that the phone he's holding drops onto the floor.
Hyunjin immediately turns around and sees you.
"I'm so sorry," you quickly mutter, scrambling to pick up his phone from the floor. In one glance, you can tell the song he's listening to on his phone.
"I'm sorry," you say again while looking up to see and make sure that it's him, the red hair peeking out from the black beanie he's wearing confirmed it.
He stares at you for a moment but you sense that he's going to come at you for dropping his phone.
"Can you help me?" You ask, getting ahead of him.
His forehead wrinkles in confusion as he cleans the screen of his phone with the sleeve of his jacket.
"Can you call Felix for me? Let him know that I'm here?" You desperately say as the guard stands right behind you, witnessing the awkward exchange.
He looks at you again with an even more intense stare.
"Please?" You plead with a thin smile.
Hyunjin shifts his eyes to check for any damage, "and who are you?" he asks without looking at you.
"I'm a friend of Felix," you say and you wished that you said it confidently.
He looks up from his phone, his eyes are once again on you but what is strange about his stare this time is it's as if he saw another human for the first time: pure bewilderment.
"Can you please call him for me?" You kindly ask him again.
But the long pause only tells you that he has no intentions to help you.
"You know what? Never mind," you sigh.
You decide to give up trying to convince him. You have no proof to make him trust you anyway so why bother trying?
You turn around to let the guard take you to wherever he's going to send you, probably toss you out to the street.
Thankfully, at the end of the hall, Lou appeared to stop that from happening.
"I've been looking for you!" He says when he's still a few meters from you when it should be you saying that.
"It's okay, she's with me," he says to the guard.
He lets go right away and turns to do his job elsewhere, as much as you hate to experience it but that man is merely doing his job.
You let out a big sigh of relief, "what took you so long?" You whine and sound exactly like you're about to cry.
He puts the pass around your neck like a necklace, you check it to see that it's an all-access pass.
"Logistics stuff," he concisely explains.
You choose to let him off easy, he's also, just doing his job.
Putting his arm around your shoulder after, Lou takes you walking with him in the opposite direction of the hallway and when you think about it, it starts to feel like a maze.
"Where are we going?"
"The green room!" He shortly replies.
You both arrived at two big doors with the name of the band plastered on them and guarded by a security guard. He glances at your pass before opening the door for you.
Suddenly, a wave of anxiety hits you. Because what if you're not welcome there? You stop Lou from taking you inside with your hand holding onto the door.
"Is it alright for me to be in there?"
Lou got so perplexed by your question, "Of course!"
The little incident earlier gives you an inkling that someone inside wouldn't want you there. Lou probably thinks that you're nervous, he takes your hand to drag you inside, "If it's not alright then why Felix asked me to take you here?"
The green room is empty except for a few people sitting on the couch and a few others are in another part of the room.
"Hey guys, I found her loitering outside," Lou playfully announce your arrival to Felix who was talking to someone on the couch.
"Should we take her or not?"
Felix chuckles and leans back on the couch, scanning you from head to toe, "I'm not sure," he says.
Lou grabs both of your shoulders, "okay then I'll just toss her into the recyclable bin," he jokes.
You glare at both Felix and Lou, keeping your face stern.
Felix softens right away, "Okay, okay, come here!"
He takes your hand, pulling you hard enough that you topple onto his lap. You immediately get off his lap, afraid that people might take it the wrong way.
"Thank you for taking her here," Felix thanked Lou.
"No problem, man!" He replies, walking to the fridge stocked with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. He picks up a can of cola and plops down on the other sofa.
"Where's Han?"
"In an interview in the other room," Felix replies, also grabbing a can of cola from the fridge without getting up. He opens it and hands it to you.
"Thanks," you mutter.
He leans back on the sofa again, looking tired even though his day is far from done.
"So, how was the soundcheck?"
You quickly swallow your first sip of soda to answer, "It was great!"
"Just great?"
You lowly chuckle, "we were much greater," you answer with a cheeky grin.
"That! I don't agree!"
Your head turns to see someone standing behind you and for a second, you thought it was the last person you want to see there and vice versa.
Han plops down on the sofa next to you, "I'm Han," he offers his hand at you.
You tell him your name while taking his hand to shake, "here I thought no one shakes hands anymore," you say.
A cocky grin appears on his small, round face, "I'm classy that way," he says.
Felix snorts next to you, "Trust me, there's nothing classy about this man!"
Han hits Felix with a cushion, "Back me up here!"
"She'd know if I lied," Felix defended himself.
"No, actually," You turn to Felix and continue speaking, "Anyone can tell when you're lying, Felix!"
Now, it's Han's turn to laugh, he puts his hoodie on and moves to the smaller sofa, getting comfortable by putting a cushion under his neck.
"I'm taking a nap," he announces and puts on earplugs.
Felix puts his hand around your shoulder and pulls you close until your head meets his, "am I that transparent?" He asks you in a whispery voice.
You lowly laugh, "Since day one."
He drops his head onto your shoulder and heavily sighs.
You pet his head and his hair is perfectly tousled as if someone spent hours styling it that way.
Something red enters your peripheral vision and your heart skipped a beat, you haven't decided how you should act upon the little incident earlier.
Should you be wise and let it go? You also hate to be in this situation.
"Hyunjin, I want to introduce someone to you," Felix shouts at him with his head still resting on your shoulder and your hand in his hair.
Hyunjin stops on his track for a while, looking at Felix, then at you. As he sets his eyes on you, you decide to bravely stare back at him, letting him know that it's the right time for him to say something.
All he does is this subtle shrug then goes to the other part of the room. No apologies or even a hint of regret for dismissing you earlier.
Holding a grudge seems to be the only right choice at the moment and you don't care how petty that sounds.
Felix knows that Hyunjin just gave you a not-so-friendly welcome greeting, "he's always like that before a show," he assures you.
"Man, he's like that even after the concert," Lou adds.
With eyes closed, Han injects himself into the conversation, "pretty boys are like that," he jokingly remarks.
"The fact that you aren't like that means you're not pretty?" Lou pokes fun at him.
He smirks with eyes closed, "that's because I'm cool," he ends with a bold statement.
-
Thankfully, Felix doesn't have to go anywhere but get his makeup done.
The make-up artist doesn't do much on him, just a thin layer of foundation that covers enough with his freckles still showing, dusting both of his cheeks and the bridge of his nose.
After that, he does his preconcert rituals and which consist of having a light meal, drinking hydration drinks, memorizing the setlist, warming up, and having a quick briefing with the stage director.
You feel like a real intruder as you walk with him to the back of the stage, you have no other choice with his arm around your shoulder.
The manager finally appears a few minutes before showtime, everyone gathers into a circle while you stand in the corner.
"Come here!" Felix says, gesturing you to join in.
Lou is pushing you from the back, also joining the circle for team cheer. Hands are stacked in the middle of the circle you can't tell whose hands belong to who anymore.
The manager shouts encouragement loudly as the opening sequence of the concert has began playing on stage and the crowd cheers at the anticipation.
"On three!" Han shouts.
"One, two, three!" He shouts as everyone throws their hands in the air in unison.
"WE'RE SO SSICK!" Everyone shouts in unison except you.
The path to the stage is signed with neon-colored tape plastered onto the floor but it's still dark to see what you're stepping on. Lou is quick to turn on the flashlight from his phone while fisting the back of your t-shirt, afraid that you might stumble with the cables slithering on the floor.
Everyone is stopping at the side of the stage, still out of the crowd's sight.
"You can watch from here!" Felix tells you.
You grab him by the elbow to whisper to him instead of trying to talk over the loud music, "Good luck!"
He smiles, then pulls you into a quick hug. He turns at Lou but he knows what he's going to say.
"Don't worry! I got her!" He assures him.
The moment each one of them steps into the stage, the crowd cheers louder it's deafening.
"Your friend worries a lot," Lou whispers to you.
"I know," you mouthed at him while laughing.
The show starts with a blasting guitar playing from Hyunjin, a riff from the title song in their last album. It feels as if someone just electrocuted you because all of sudden your body is buzzing all over but in the best way.
Then Felix starts banging his drum with his foot hitting the pedal so hard that you can feel every beat right in your eardrum.
After a few bars of intro, Han takes over his place in the front and pushes his mouth close to the mic, singing the first line of the verse followed by the crowd singing along with him.
Somehow, you picked up the lyrics of the chorus right away and sang along on the second verse. Your body is controlled by the music that you're no longer trying to stop yourself anymore but giving in.
In the break between the songs, you take a step forward to see how many people are there coming to the concert. Turns out, the arena is full of people from top to bottom, front to back. There are so many people you can't possibly count them in your head.
All of the hairs on your arms are standing as you take a step back to the side of the stage, "oh my God!"
Lou grins at you, he seems to be used to this view. Unlike you, he's busy looking at the members the whole time, to check if anyone needs something fixed quickly.
They'll signal him if something is wrong or the sound is either too low or high, mic problem. Lou also helps if either Hyunjin or Han needs a change of instruments.
"Here! Felix's solo is coming soon!" He gestures for you to come over to him.
You comply, standing a little too close to the stage but hidden behind the stage equipment. There, you get a clear view of Felix playing his drum, every movement of his hands and feet on the pedals.
Hyunjin stops playing his guitar, leaving only Han playing rhythmical guitar as the background to Felix's solo drumming.
You were wrong to ever thought that Felix's dream of becoming a drummer is a silly thing. Here you are, watching him become one and he's incredibly good at it that it feels like he's sticking his middle finger right to your face.
Other than that, you are so proud of him, proud of what he has become yet remains the same person.
Felix is too focused on playing that he only realized you were watching from the side once he's done with his solo. He slyly grins at you with one eyebrow raised while his hands are busy carrying the beat.
"Told you I'm great!" He shouts at you.
"Yeah keep telling that to yourself," you playfully reply.
It feels a whole lot different watching them from the side of the stage like this and seeing what's happening behind the scene, that there are a lot more people involved in the show to make sure everyone leaves with unforgettable memories.
They finish the last song on the setlist and take a break before going back in for the encore.
Lou is handing out extra towels as each one of them comes to the side of the stage. Felix grabs one, then begins aggressively drying his hair with it, making a mess of it.
Han has his tongue out as he tries to catch his breath, standing facing the nig portable air conditioner to cool himself down.
Hyunjin is the last one to come backstage, practically drenched in sweat. His t-shirt is soaking wet that it's stuck to his body.
He sits on top of a box with his head down, sweat dripping from the end of his hair with the red hair dye fades into the white t-shirt he's wearing.
Felix puts his hand on your shoulder as a support, as he too, is running out of breath. The sleeveless top he's wearing is sticking to his skin despite it having two gaping holes on each side, exposing just enough to let everyone know he has toned abs under there.
Realizing that you unintentionally ogling at your best friend, you shake the thoughts away, quickly grabbing a bottled water nearby and uncap it for him.
"For the greatest drummer in the world," you switch the towel in his hand with it.
He's too exhausted to laugh at it that he can only grin, then takes a long, big gulp of water it spills out the corner of his mouth and dribbles down his chin. He finishes the whole bottle in under a minute.
With the already damp towel, you dab the sweat on his face and neck, carefully not ruining the make-up that somehow survives the extra moisture on his face.
A few minutes have passed with the crowd chanting for an encore when it's obvious that they need another few minutes of break.
You check the setlist taped to the wall and they have three songs to play for the encore. You wonder how they can still fully function after performing for more than two hours already.
"Whenever you're ready, boys!" Someone says, which you believe is coming from the manager.
Felix grabs another bottled water, not to drink it but pours it on his head to cool it off, he pushes his bleached blonde hair to the back with his fingers.
This is the kind of sight that would make the fans go wild, but what can you say? Guess tonight they're not lucky as you.
Felix takes the towel back from you to wipe the water dribbling down his neck, "do I look alright?" He asks with his eyes wide.
You saw the stylist put on mascara on him earlier and now it's slightly smudged with how much he sweats, but that only adds to the rockstar look. You decide to only wipe the excess under his eyes ever so slowly with your pinky finger.
"Let's get ready!" Han says as he looks around for the members despite he's still catching his breath.
Felix puts his hand away from your shoulder to get a clean towel, using it to dab fresh sweat on his face.
Behind him, something catches your eyes, the red of Hyunjin's hair and him casually taking his t-shirt off in front of everyone. Well, everyone is probably used to this but not you, you're the only one having a hard time trying not to look his way.
Look away, look away, you repeatedly tell yourself, but instead of doing that, you do the exact opposite.
You stare at his back figure and see the ridges his back muscles made as he puts a t-shirt over his head that eventually covers his smooth skin, glistening wet even under the poor lighting backstage.
Han once again takes the lead, walking up to Felix and tapping him on the shoulder repeatedly as if to transfer his energy to him.
"Let's go!" He excitedly tells him.
Felix always manages to catch you off guard, surprising you by pressing a kiss on the cheek and you can only give in to him.
"Be right back!" He says with a grin.
Hyunjin follows them not long after, but stopping at the side to dry his hair with a towel, you feel a few drops of his sweat land on your arms.
He briefly glances at you, then tosses the damp towel away before entering the stage again.
That one stare reminds you why you're still holding a grudge against him, but at the same time, you don't want it to ruin the night.
However, once Hyunjin plays his guitar, you forget all about it.
You feel the shiver down your spine, and it's getting intense as the guitar riffs he plays charmed you to keep watching.
And it's hard to do so because he's so blinding.
Before you fall in deeper, you turn to see Felix who's just as blinding, shining in his own limelight. You don't have to talk about Han, he shines in his own way from the way he got everyone wrapped around his little finger.
The pit is going berserk as they play a song they have probably been waiting for. The loud cheering returns and the music starts filling the entire space, letting it hypnotize and control them.
There's no use in fighting it, you let yourself get carried away and notice that Lou joining you as he puts his arm on your shoulder, jumping together to the intensified music as it comes close to its ending.
As the music stops, you found yourself panting and turn to the side to find Lou laughing, you can't help but laugh along with him even though you feel like you're about to faint.
The concert is close to three hours long but it seems like none of the attendees wanted to go home. You can relate to that after what you've experienced, that incredible feeling of being a part of something much bigger than ourselves. It's one-of-a-kind, euphoric, and addictive.
"Let's wait in the back!" Lou says, leading you down the steps with the help of the flashlight from his phone.
After the curtain closed and the lights are out, they finally come down to the backstage. The cheers from everyone who's working just as hard behind the curtains welcome them, applauds and whistles.
They give handshakes, high-fives, and quicks hugs to thank them for their hard work while you're trailing behind as they make their way back to the green room.
Felix stops on his track with his head turned, searching for you.
"She's here!" Lou says as he gently pushes you his way.
You walk up to him with a proud smile on, profoundly proud of him for not only achieving his dream but keep thriving at it.
"You were so great!" You got choked as you tell him that and he knows it's coming from the bottom of your heart, you're about to hug him when he avoids it.
"I'm sweaty, babe," he says, maintaining a space between your bodies.
He drops his hand to hold yours instead and starts walking together.
-
Felix comes out of the green room with his damp hair brushed to the back, carrying a bag on one shoulder with a smile blossoming on his face the second he sees you.
You've been waiting outside because they must be tired from the show, you should give them the space to cool down.
You stole a few packs of sweets and waited outside with Lou.
Felix walks towards you with his arms outstretched, hinting that he's going to hug you and you immediately rise from your seat to receive it.
His freshly shampooed hair smells nice but what you like the most is that natural scent that clung to his clothes.
"You smell way better now," you playfully say as you pull away.
"I know," he coyly answers with a smile.
He puts his arm around you and starts walking down the hallway that leads to the parking basement where a van is already parked right outside with the driver already waiting.
"You get in first!" He says.
Again, you comply without a word and only realized that you have no idea where he's taking you once you are seated in the back row of the van.
Felix plops down next to you and puts his bag next to him.
"Where are we going?" You ask.
"The after-party, of course," he simply answers.
"Aren’t you... tired?"
That must have sounded so naive coming from you that he chuckles, "Why? It's past your bedtime?"
You nod, "Yes. I actually want to go home. I miss my bed."
He glances at you in disbelief and shakes his head with his hand rummaging the inside of his bag.
"I use the same one," you share as he takes out a cherry lip balm.
He applies it on his lips, then says, "Want me to apply it on you?" he leans in with his lips puckered.
Your hand reflexively pushes him away as he playfully tries to kiss you. At the same time, someone enters the car and from the bright red of his hair, you know who it is without having to see his face.
Your laughs die down as he sits on the seat in the middle, you hear him sighing then drops his bag on the space next to him with a low thud.
It's getting quiet inside the dark of the van, the only source of light is coming from Felix's phone as he's checking his messages.
"Are you even allowed to take your girlfriend?" Hyunjin suddenly asks.
He doesn't even turn his head to the person he's asking the question to. Felix puts his arm around you to pull you closer to his side even though he has no one to show it off to.
"Why? Are you jealous?" Felix asks back instead of denying him.
You turn to the side to see Felix slyly grinning with the lights from his phone illuminating his face. On the other hand, you hear Hyunjin sighs again then puts his headphones back on again, probably regretted for asking about it.
A while later, Han and Lou finally get into the van, sitting on the front seats together. They're already busy chatting about a few things all at once and it's the first time you hear Lou talks so much.
Someone else gets into the passenger's side and the car lurches forward, exiting the parking basement. As the car drives out of the building, you can see a group of people lining up to perhaps, see the band once more before going home.
They're cheering as the van rides past them despite they can't see through the heavily tinted glass.
Calculate it fast in your head, they have waited for almost two hours after the concert ended just to catch a glimpse of them.
It makes you realize that you're lucky to be able to comfortably enjoy the show and now, being in the same car with them, an experience that a lot of people dream of having.
The whole ride is quiet and when you thought they must be resting out of fatigue. When the car stops in another parking basement in which you have no idea where.
Everyone can't wait to get out of the car, you're the last one to come with Felix helps you get off by holding your hand.
It's when you enter the building that you recognize it's the hotel they're staying at.
As everyone waits for the elevator to arrive, Han notices you standing across from him. Since your eyes make contact, it's only right to say something.
"Hey," you sheepishly say, afraid that he's not in the mood to talk to someone.
"Hey!" He greets back, "How was the show?"
He looks alright for a man who has sung more than twenty songs in two and a half hours.
"Incredible!" You shortly reply then realize that's not enough of a compliment.
"It's just amazing from first to last," you add and hope that it doesn't sound phony, you're just bad at verbalizing your thoughts.
He smiles back while fixing the collar of his jacket, "well, I'm glad you came," he says.
You don't expect him to be this charming in person, he has the kind of charm that slowly growing in you.
Felix hisses at him, "she came for me," he says while pushing you into the elevator as the doors slide open.
Han nudges Lou's elbow, "I didn't know Felix can be this possessive," he whispers to him intentionally loud.
Inside the small space of the elevator, Hyunjin remains unbothered with his headphones still on, hands deep in the pockets of his jeans. You can only see his face through the reflection on the shiny furnace of the elevator as it shoots up to the top floor which you assume is where all the luxurious suites are located.
It shouldn't come as a surprise to you anymore but the reality that your friend is in a famous band hasn't sunk in yet.
The after-party isn't what you expected it to be, it's more like a get-together with a hotel bartender working behind a small bar, tending to everyone's drinks.
You recognize most of the people there as the staff working in the green room earlier except that they're way more relaxed.
Everyone scatters like they know where they need to go and you hate to always have to cling to Felix which only shows how shitty you are at socializing.
"Drinks?" Lou asks from beside you.
"Yes, please!" You let out a sigh of relief at the end of the sentence.
Lou doesn't hesitate to order a hard liquor while you chose to have something with the least amount of alcohol in it. You take a sip to confirm that it tastes more sugary than an alcoholic and have a bigger sip after.
Being Lou is exceptionally easy, maybe because he's so laid-back and nonchalant in a sense that makes you feel like he's not going to attack you with personal questions.
"So, what do you guys usually do at the after-party?" You ask.
He snorts, "Actually, nothing, we just... chill?" He doubtfully answers, then pulls out a phone from his jacket.
"Let's take a picture!" He gives you no time to think of a pose but holds out his hand far enough to fit both of your faces in the camera.
What kind of photographer who doesn't know how to pose? You almost roll your eyes at yourself as the thought runs through your head.
"What's your Instagram?"
"I don't have one."
He squints his eyes at you for a moment, "No media social presence? Cool!"
You can't tell if he's being sarcastic or earnestly complimenting you, whichever it is, you don't feel offended by him.
"I have one but it's for my photography and work stuff," you add before you weirded him out more.
"Here," he hands you his phone to let you insert your username.
As you're handing his phone back, Felix comes from behind you. He gently puts his hand on your shoulder and talks close to your ear.
"Hey, I need you to meet someone," he says.
You turn to the side to find him leaning so close to you that it startles you.
"Who?"
He drops his hand to yours, "come with me," he orders.
"Okay, wait," you gulp the rest of your drink before letting Felix take you somewhere.
You haven't had the chance to look around the suite to know there's a balcony and a group of people lounging out there.
This is where they scooted away to, you say as you spotted Han and Hyunjin sitting on the long sofa.
Felix is taking you exactly there and makes you stand in front of everyone, putting you in the center of attention.
He points at the man sitting on the other sofa, "This is Vin," he introduces.
"He's the tour manager," he adds.
You hold out your hand because this sounds formal and it's basic etiquette, something that you learned from Han earlier.
"Hi, pleased to meet you," you sincerely say.
There's a hint of regret that you didn't choose to drink something stronger back in the bar, this calls for that too with the attention you're getting.
"You're a photographer?" Vin asks.
You clear your throat before answering, "Yes," you stammer.
That doesn't sound convincing so you try again, "Yes, I am."
He fixes his seating on the sofa and leans forward as if he's needing to take a better look at you, "I don't see you taking your camera with you tonight."
"I thought I'm not allowed to so I–" you pause as you heard someone snorts, everyone else there is chatting to each other however you feel their eyes on you.
"I'm sorry," you conclude instead of finishing your sentence and oh, you hate to apologize when you don't even do anything wrong.
Vin nods as he takes his glass of drink from the glass table, "so what do you think about being the band's photographer?"
The question takes you out completely. Firstly, because you didn't ask for it, and secondly, you don't know how you feel about it because you never even thought about it.
"Felix has been telling me about you," he says.
You look at the culprit next to you and he's grinning ear to ear, he knows that you can't be mad when he's putting his sunshine face on.
"We'll be going on tour next month," Vin continues, shifting on his seat and hastily sipping his drink, "how about you join us, taking pictures of the boys, the stage, everything..."
This is so sudden, so out of the blue and you don't like doing things unplanned. You take a low breath to supply your brain with more oxygen so you can think clearly.
After a while, the cogs are turning and your head started to fill with the pros. One, It's a job, you're barely booked and the tour is next month, two, no one booked you next month and third, it's a huge opportunity, you'll not be just a photographer for a band, it's THE one famous rock band, it's Ssick.
Vin hisses as he takes another sip of his liquor, "Just for the tour and you'll be paid, of course!"
Oh, and money. You need money, a lot of it to rent a photo studio.
"Oh, you're going on tour with us?" Someone asks.
Your head turns to see Han sitting on the armrest of the sofa, talking excitedly as if he's delighted to have you as one of his entourage. Or maybe he does and that lands him on the pros list.
You're getting confident about it now and about to answer him when your eyes somehow turn to the guy sitting next to him, the bright red of his hair is a contrast to his pale face that tells he is opposed to the idea, well, he can be on the cons list and you couldn't care less.
You look away from him and turn to Vin, "I'd love to, yes," you confidently answer.
It's the first time in your life saying yes out of a whim and you feel anxiety rises inside you.
"See you on tour then!" He coyly says with his glass slightly raises at you.
You excuse yourself the second the deal is made and run back to the bar, you meet Lou on the way there as he's talking to someone.
"Can I have it?" You point at his drink.
He shrugs and hands it to you without complaint.
You drain it empty in one long gulp and wince at the bitter aftertaste. It's whiskey and it's burning your throat that you can't speak without feeling like you're about to spit fire.
He rolls his head to the back to look at you, "what's wrong?"
You can only respond by shaking your head, telling him that you're alright and that you needed to release some jitters.
When you thought you can take it, you can feel the alcohol is making its way back out of you.
Lou is quick-witted, he gets up from the sofa and pulls you to a bathroom at the end of the hall. He closes the door for you as you rush to kneel on the floor, vomiting into the toilet bowl.
You check yourself in the mirror and see the mess you made on your t-shirt. You wet a towel to clean it but it's doing nothing, if anything, everyone would know you just vomited.
Someone barges into the toilet, it's your fault for not locking it after Lou closed it for you.
"It's occupied!" You shout, putting a hand to stop someone comes inside.
"It's me!"
From his deep voice, you can easily tell that it's Felix. Slowly you let go of your hand from blocking the door and open it for him.
His eyes dart to your wet, tainted t-shirt.
"I'm so grotesque, I know," you whine and continue your effort to clean it by roughly wiping on it with the wet towel.
Felix takes off his hoodie and hands it to you, "here, wear this," he says.
You take it from him without thinking, it's the only right option. He turns around to let you change your clothes.
"Are you mad?" Felix asks.
His question sounds so loud in this bathroom that is bigger than your bedroom. Other than that, you hear the sheer anxiety in his words.
"I'm not mad, Felix," you shorty reply.
You take a second to put on his hoodie and fix it while looking at the mirror, "You can turn around now!" You tell him.
He turns around and puts his hand against the sink, leaning his body to one side.
"But...?"
He knows you well that no detail is missed from you, "I was just a little taken aback," you honestly tell him.
He stares at you, making sure you're being honest and you let him see it in your eyes.
"If you feel pressured to do so but couldn't tell Vin, you can just tell me," he says as he takes a step toward you.
You shake your head and toss your unsalvaged t-shirt into the trash bin unintentionally hard, "are you kidding me?"
Felix gets startled that he reels to the back, "What?"
"What makes you think I'll pass the chance to go on a road trip with you and get paid for it?" You put both of your hands on his chest and playfully shove him away.
"I don't think so," you add with a playful grin.
His face loosens at your answer, he pulls you into a hug but you're fast to avoid it. You walk past him and stumble out of the bathroom, running away from him.
Felix catches you with his arms around your waist and you squeal as he lifts you off the floor.
"Put me down!"
"No!" He refuses, tightening his arms around you instead.
You hit his arms to force him to let you go but he's starting to spin you around as if you haven't just vomited a few minutes ago.
"Can you guys get out of the way?"
Both of you turn your heads at the same time to see Hyunjin with his annoyed face, waiting for any of you to make a way for him.
"Sorry," you meekly say and get to the other side with Felix.
"There's another bathroom..." Before Felix can finish his sentence, Hyunjin is already inside the bathroom.
Felix shrugs, "he probably needs to go number 2!"
As your eyes meet again, both of you burst into laughter at the same time.
The after-party is still going but it's past midnight and you're booked tomorrow, "I have to go home," you tell Felix.
He starts groaning, fussing like a child, "stay a little longer," he pleads with an adorable pout.
"I am booked for a job tomorrow," you share, and that the job requires you to be there earlier than the appointed time.
He pouts more it's forming into duck lips and you put your hand over it, slowly pushing him away.
"I have to go," you groan back.
He holds both of your hands, looking defeated.
"I'll have Lou drive you home," he says.
"No!" You strongly refuse, "I'm sure he's tired already."
"I'll drive you then," he offers with a flirty wink.
He's so relentless it's silly, you laugh and push him away from you, "I'll take a taxi home, the hotel reception can get one for me," you tell him.
You make a quick trip around to say bye to everyone, well, just a few of them that you know.
"Hey, I'm still glad that you came," Han says as he waves back at you.
"See you on tour!" Lou says to you with a quick, side hug.
This feels nice, this feels like you're welcomed even though the tour hasn't begun yet. Part of it is because Hyunjin is still out of your sight until you leave the suite. Well, you don't have to worry about him until next month.
Felix insists on sending you off, he comes to the hotel lobby with you and waits for your taxi to arrive.
He intertwines his hand with yours on his lap, "It'll be fun!"
Felix is filled with giddiness after he made sure you fully agreed to join the tour.
"We'll have so much fun!"
His gleeful grins are so child-like, you can't say no to his wishes when he's adorable like this.
"Are you that happy?" You jokingly ask.
He enthusiastically nods his head like a puppy.
You can't help but smile. The hotel doorman informs you that the taxi has arrived. You both get up from the chairs and exchange a hug.
"You were so great today, Felix! I'm so proud of you," you've been wanting to tell him that and make sure he hears it well, he has to know that he's doing great.
It seems that he doesn't expect to hear that from you but you feel his hand squeezes your shoulder.
"See you soon!" He finally utters something after what you said to him, then pulls away.
You wave your hand at him before exiting the hotel and sigh the moment you get into the taxi. A month feels so long, so far when excitement fills you to the brim.
A month couldn't come sooner.
-
It feels nice to be home and be in the comfort of your bed.
You pick up your phone to set an alarm since you have to wake up early for a job tomorrow. There's a notification and you click on it to see the photo Lou posted on his Instagram with your handle tagged on it.
Turns out, Lou has his fans as his followers count can grant him an influencer status. You scroll down his social media page to see the photos he has posted and they're mostly the photos he took of the band, random bits, here and there.
There's one photo of Hyunjin eating a donut with a box full of it sitting on his lap with his hair still dark and tied into a tiny ponytail that formed a little palm tree on the top of his head.
"Flour boy," Lou captioned it and a chuckle escapes your mouth.
You slap yourself on the face to remind yourself that you're holding a grudge against him and the next thing you know, you fall into the rabbit holes of things you should have done or said to him, making scenarios in your head until you can't take it anymore.
You can't go to sleep like this, not when the last thing on your mind is that annoying red-haired flour boy. You're flipping through your vinyl collections to check if you have what you're looking for.
Everyone knows that album artwork of a painting of a banana by Andy Warhol but you're not sure if you ever bought it.
Giving up, you end up looking for the album on your phone and play the same song Hyunjin was listening to as you knocked his phone down.
You sit down on the carpeted floor listening to the song playing the intro of the song then you hear a girl starts singing...
"Here she comes
You better watch your step
She's going to break your heart in two
It's true..."

♡ He has absolutely no idea what he's doing. Poor boy didn't even think he'd make it this far, and now he's going into cardiac arrest over seeing a bit of nipple. Yeah sure he watched a little hentai but he's smart enough to know that isn't exactly the best point of reference.
♡ You're going to have to guide him through it. Holding his hand and guiding it slowly to every where he can touch, how it feels, how to touch, ect ect. It's a sensory experience for him mostly, feeling your soft skin against the pads of his fingers, how your slick collects on them. He's incredibly cautious though, as to not dust you accidentally.
♡ He really wants to do everything perfectly seeing as you're the most important person to him. The performance anxiety is getting to him and you have to assure him it's okay, that he's going the right pace, that it feels better than you could have ever imagined.
♡ He might fuck up a little but just gently guide him through it and he'll get the hang of it. Soon enough, with a little love and patience, he's fucking like a pro.

enamored by you.
zayne x artist!fem.reader
dedicated to @nyashykyunnie because she’s a zayne girlie 🥰
to say dr. zayne was a bit grumpy when he woke up cold and alone this morning would be the understatement of the century.
you, his lover of nearly 3 years, had left him suddenly yesterday. after enjoying dinner with you, you suddenly had an epiphany, your inspiration seeming to strike at an inopportune time as you already made preparations to head back to your studio where you could bask in your muse with minimal interruptions. he tries convincing you to stay, yet you didn’t relent, all to eager to temporarily leave him as you were determined to get your muse onto a canvas as soon as possible.
ah, but zayne supposes this is just what he has to deal with when it comes to having an artist as his lover.
after his morning routine, zayne was currently in the kitchen, making his breakfast for the day as a series of knocks were heard coming from his door.
he frowns a bit, checking the time on his phone while searching through his messages, letting out a huff when he didn’t see a reply from you. pocketing his phone, zayne takes quick strides to the door, opening it as he was taken aback by the large canvas in front of him.
the young doctor remains silent, taking a moment to admire the painting. it depicted brightly colored koi fishes swimming in a pond, filled with lily pads with purple blooms sprouting from it. the colors and overall aesthetic of it all was enough to make zayne’s heart melt:
Tumblr media
just as he was ready to burn the image of such a wonderful painting into his memories, something much more beautiful catches his attention the moment you peak out from the canvas.
“zaynie! hi, do you like my latest gift for you?”
“hmph, so this was what took you away from me last night.” zayne grumbles in response. despite how he hated your absence and how you were not safely tucked within his arms last night, he was still thoroughly impressed with your artwork. taking the heavy canvas within his hold, he hears you shut his door before following him from close behind.
heading up the stairs, he opens the door to one of the spare bedrooms where its walls were already defrosted with your past works. as you step inside the familiar room, you couldn’t help but feel your cheeks turning warm at the sight. every painting and sketch you had given him remains perfectly preserved and cherished within this singular room. just knowing how much zayne adored your love language was enough to make your heart swell for him.
after hanging your latest masterpiece, zayne returns back to your side, a frown on his face when he automatically takes you into his arms, burying his face within your hair as he breathes in the scent of your strawberry shampoo while giving your head a kiss. you feel the gentle sensation and giggle, hugging him back with a beaming smile on your face.
you spend a few more minutes within his embrace until you heard a familiar sigh coming from him. he says your name in a bit of a stern voice. “how long did it take you to paint that for me?”
a sheepish expression was seen on your face, and you knew that you couldn’t just lie to him, because then he could hear and possibly feel the rapid pace of your heart (he was a cardiac surgeon, for god’s sake!) you, being the good girl that you were, opted for the truth.
“i ah… i may have spent the whole night working on it?”
a sharp inhale was heard coming from zayne, with him removing your form from his chest. you give him the best pout you could muster, only to feel your lover pinch at your cheeks in response.
“h-hey!”
“that’s what you get for not taking care of yourself.” zayne tells you with a cool hum, returning you back to his embrace as he carries you, bridal style, out of the room and downstairs into the dining room. he settles you on one of the seats and points a finger at you. “sit still and behave. i’m going to make you breakfast, and you are going to eat everything that is on your plate, doctor’s orders.”
you felt a shiver running down your spine, only managing to give him a nod as you felt your mouth water in response. zayne was an amazing cook, and you always looked forward to the times where he would prepare meals for you (which just happened to be every single day, but you digress…)
as you waited patiently for him, you could smell the scent of honey waffles fill your senses, making you let out a soft moan. everything that zayne was cooking smelled so good to you, and you couldn’t wait to devour the feast he had plans for you.
not even 20 minutes had passed when zayne returns to you with two plates in hand. one plate was filled with the honey waffles with whipped cream strawberries on top, while the other plate was filled with more savory items like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, and buttered toast. when he settles both plates in front of you, you eagerly dig in with a happy grin on your face.
instead of eating, zayne chooses to spoil you instead, picking you up from your seat before taking your spot, settling you on his lap instead. with a happy giggle, you eagerly share your breakfast with him, allowing him to spoil you as he fed you bites from this delicious meal.
when the plates were nearly emptied did you begin to feel tired, letting out a yawn as you cuddled closer to zayne’s chest.
“what’s this? is my honey getting tired already?” you shiver at his petname for you, only managing to give him a nod as you let out another yawn. he clicks his tongue in feigned disappointment, but really, you knew he was just worried about you.
with breakfast completed for the day, zayne takes you in his arms and stands back to his full height, walking back on the stairs to your shared bedroom. he listens to the way you let out a hum of his name, smiling before entering your shared bedroom.
tossing aside the comforters and sheets with one hand, zayne settles you against the king sized mattress first before joining you. he lays beside you while bringing your form closer to him (almost greedily) as he left no space between the junction of where your chest meets with his.
you felt so warm and comfortable, already falling into a deep slumber the moment zayne feels your soft breaths against his chest. as he twirls a strand of your hair against his fingertips, his gaze lands on the drawers that were settled in front of him-
perhaps when you woke up, zayne would surprise you with a date all while revealing a gorgeously crafted ring for you, the velvet box still remaining hidden within his drawer as you remained blissfully aware of his promises of forever to you.

Can you write a condescending peter smut where he flirts every chance gets even grabbing the readers hand and kissing it while they hand him something minor (like a piece of clothing)
sweetheart
warnings: smut; (f- receiving [fingering, slight oral], dirty talk) some fluff
note: this is a small request i mustered up since i haven’t posted any writings in like a MONTH i’m so so sorry! part 2!
after you both walk through the door, you take off his jacket that he let you borrow. it was nice and warm in peter’s apartment, so you didn’t need it anymore. he gently shuts the door. it was a chilly night outside, and peter asked if you wanted to come over to work on a project. you said yes, because you’ve had the fattest crush on peter since freshman year. now, as a senior, you’re finally getting to know him more.
it felt like a movie.
“thank you for letting me use your jacket,” you hand him his jacket that you lousily folded in a few seconds, and he smiles endearly. his smile made your heart melt, and it made you feel all fuzzy inside.
“always,” he accepts the jacket, but what catches you by surprise is when he grabs your hand. his fingers brush delicately under your palm as he leans down towards it. unexpectedly, he gently kisses the top of your hand, sending butterflies through each system of your body.
he tosses the jacket over the couch and stands in front of you. you were holding your breath, still trying to figure out why he kissed you and why you felt your heart beating at an erratic pace.
is this what it feels like to go into cardiac arrest? is this cardiac arrest? are you dying?
“you’re nervous,” peter observes, stroking a strand of hair behind your ear. you didn’t know of peter’s superhuman abilities, but he could hear the fast pace of your heart since you’ve walked through the door. his eyes wander curiously over your facial features. “why?”
do you just tell him? what if he doesn’t feel the same? but he did just kiss your hand…
“i don’t really know,” in all honesty, you knew it was peter that made you nervous. but you didn’t know why peter was making you nervous. he was just so… captivating and you liked the way that he acted around you.
since you’ve been getting to know him more, he’s always been flirty with you. sometimes it’s subtle, but other times it’s blatantly obvious, like the kiss on the hand. being the naive girl you were, you just assumed he was like that with everyone, that that’s just who he was; a flirt.
so maybe what you’re nervous about is if you’re wrong about peter. what if he’s not just a flirt and he really wants to be with you? well, the idea of that makes you nervous.
“don’t lie, baby,” baby slips from his lips so naturally it causes your heart to skip a beat. does he call everyone baby? you didn’t know, but you didn’t spend too much time thinking about it. peter’s hand lifted up to caress your cheek softly as he attempted to coax answers out of you. “what’s on your mind?”
“um, things,” things was an understatement. you were thinking of all the possible things he could do with those hands. as his rough skin repeatedly circled the supple skin of your cheek, the dirtiest images flashed through your mind. you imagined peter slipping that same hand down your torso and into your jeans and discovering your wet panties. he would rub your clit over and over and then slide his calloused fingers inside easily.
your cunt is drenched just thinking about him touching you, you couldn’t imagine how wet you would be if he actually was…
“are you thinking about me?” peter’s hand rests still on your cheek as his eyes stare directly into yours. your eyes widen in shock, like he can read your thoughts. the smell of your arousal heightens peter’s senses, so he knows you’re thinking about something.
“i…”
his hand falls from your face and travels down to your hip. it slips under the hem of your loose t-shirt and massages the smooth skin of your waist. your breath hitches in your throat from the contact, nervous for his next move. you wanted him to do something, anything. peter leans closer to your ear as your back hits the nearby wall.
“what are you thinking about?” the gravelly rasp of his voice and the low volume nearly make you moan out loud right there. your lower belly burns in desire, desperate for more of his touch. his nose rubs at your temple as if he was going to kiss it.
“you. i am thinking about you,” you admit breathlessly. “please do something.”
peter begins peppering your neck in kisses, making your hands crawl up into his hair. you release your pent-up breath, which comes out in shaky sighs.
“what do you want me to do?” he comes off of you for a moment to ask.
“touch me more, please,” you whisper in the quiet living room. when you’re both not talking, you swear you could hear the sporadic beat of your heart.
“but i am touching you, no?” peter slips both of his rough hands under your shirt. his thumbs swipe over your bra, feeling your hardened nipples under the fabric. you gasp quietly as he continues the action. “tell me exactly what you want, and i might just give it to you.”
your nipples hardened more painfully at his tedious movements, needing more to feel satisfied. your brain was too scrambled at the idea that this was actually happening. you couldn’t think to describe where you wanted him to touch you. you saw a movie called everything, everywhere, all at once and thought that title described it well.
you were so caught up in your own head that you never gave peter an answer. but how could you? it’s embarrassing.
“how about i guess,” it wasn’t a question but a statement. peter insists that he guesses where you wanted to be touched because clearly, you were too embarrassed to answer him. you nod your head shakily as his hands slowly move south of your body.
he tugs the ends of your shirt as a sign to remove it, and you do. his hands roam your figure until they hook onto your jeans. with one certain look in his eye, your pants were on the floor and you were left standing in your undergarments, hot and bothered.
“here?” he guesses as his thumbs rub painfully delicate circles on your hip bones. you shake your head. peter drags his hands down, missing your aching clit. his fingers squeeze the plush skin of your thighs, coaxing a small mewl from you. “here?”
“no, higher,” you directed with a whine. peter smirks slyly, but listens to you. his hands, however, don’t, and go all the way back up to your bra. peter teases you by caressing and squeezing the fabric. you groan, annoyed at his edging. “lower.”
he smiles, as his fingers drift until they’re touching your panties. your breath hitches in your throat.
as his palm rubs over your mound, his fingers finally land on your clit. you let out a large sigh as he circles the throbbing bud. naturally, you spread your legs and welcome him to your vulnerability.
“is it here, sweetheart?” peter condescends as his fingers get faster. the friction of your underwear and the pace of his fingers was enough to make you spiral.
“yes. feels so good,” your hand clutches onto his shoulder, holding yourself up. your body squirms above his digits, subconsciously grinding on him.
your stomach burns deliciously, waiting for that impendable sensation. your eyes close as you focus solely on the feeling of his movements.
“i need more, please,” you breathlessly beg, trying to tug your panties down. his fingers press against your aching hole, soaked with your juices that are desperate for him. when he pushes your hand away, you unclip your bra and toss it on the ground. peter can’t help but roll your pebbled nipples between his digits for a few moments before dragging them back down your body.
“patience, sweetheart.”
you whine at the nickname and the condescending tone that easily rolls off of his tongue. you tried being patient, but you’ve never been so turned on in your life. it was nearly making you hallucinate.
peter could sense your deep desperation to be touched, and he didn’t want his girl to go unsatisfied.
yes, you were now his girl. and soon hopefully, you would know that.
peter teasingly pulls down your panties, a line of arousal sticking to the fabric from your cunt. as the chilly night breezes through the ajar window, you hiss as a cool wind blows over your naked body.
“you cold, baby?” he whispers.
“y-yes,” you stutter out as you push your body into his hand.
“i think i can warm you up,” with that, his hand dips in between your legs. his calloused fingers rub the sensible skin of your pussy before he easily slips a finger inside of you.
it was almost embarrassing how easily he could do it.
you moan needily as his middle finger thrusts inside of you. peter wiggles it back and forth in such a way, your legs want to collapse and completely give in to the feeling. pumping in and out. rough texture rubbing against your walls. it was almost too good to be true, you couldn’t believe it was real.
in too much a haze, you don’t see him slip another finger in, but you definitely feel it. his thick digits were filling you perfectly. but would you be greedy if you wished it was his cock?
that burning, bubbling sensation strained in your lower belly, alerting you that you were close. you squeezed tightly around peter’s fingers, and you could practically feel his satisfied smirk.
“i’m so close,” you pant as your hands grab on to anything and everything around you.
“touch yourself,” he commanded, forcing you to open your eyes and look at him. “c’mon. you can do that, can’t you?”
as you said yes, peter’s fingers increased their speed, so your words came out squeaky. you reached a shaky hand down to your puffy clit and began rubbing small circles over it. your core clenched snuggly around him once again because of the overwhelming amount of pleasure. you throw your head back against the wall, mumbling profanities as you come undone.
you felt your body release all of your stresses and thoughts. not a single thing was on your mind. you felt so comfortable with peter, even when he made your heart race like a jumpscare.
“i’m going to clean you up, okay?” peter reassured, and you smiled wearily. you assumed he would’ve gotten some tissues or something, but like earlier, he surprised you.
peter kneeled down to face your cunt, all sensitive and soaked. he parts your legs and attaches his mouth to you. you gasp squeakily, as he slurps all your juices. the sounds were more erotic than his fingers pounding into you minutes before.
but what was more erotic and arousing than a man on his knees for you? not much.
when he pops off of you, you whine, cold and sensitive. peter hands you some of your clothes on the ground before standing back up.
“what about you?” you ask, seeing that he’s fully dressed and not going further. you were a little disappointed because you wanted more.
okay, maybe you were a little greedy…
“i was focusing on you, baby,” his words make a wave of heat crawl up your neck and up to your ears. your heart skipped a beat like every other time he flirts with you.
“but i want to…”
“how about we finish this project and then we can continue?” peter suggests, caressing his warm palm on your cheek. you practically purred into his touch, melting into him. in all honesty, you had forgotten about the project entirely.
you were so blissed out you didn’t even remember that you were a student. with peter, you were just a girl and a boy; two people that had great chemistry.
“sounds like a plan,” you smile and peter feels his heart race. you were his dream come true. and now, he finally had you. you just didn’t know yet.

Claudia, one of your friends, invited you to attend to her beach volley match. The match is held indoor so, given the fact that its summer and in this country summer is also very humid, temperatures are going to be torrid. Beside this fact you're still quite surprised to see that the majority of the players are playing naked, females too (in this parallel univers human are not ashamed by their own bodies). After all sweating is the best way to cool down. She's quite skinny but look really good with that blue bikini, you always liked her so, secretely, you're very happy to see her playing covered just with air. Given the fact that the playground is going to be free the whole day, organizers decided to complete the tournament without skippying to next day.
Some hours have passed and she has played for a lot of time now. Room temperature went higher than 36°C for the whole last matches and now Claudia looks pretty torn. She's always been a warrior, someone who don't surrender easily but all that jumping in this particular condition had an effect on her too. She's covered by sweat, her skin has assumed a reddish tone and her panting has become so deep anyone can clearly hear her fast inspirations and exales. The thing that tunrs on a light in your mind though is the fact that her entire upper body is rhythmically shaking like it's thrusted by a sort of internal earthquake. You suddenly realize that you recently activated a medical app on your phone developped at the laboratory where you work that makes possible medical analises through the phone camera thanks to experimental sensors placed in the camera. You activate the app and feel pretty lifted up by the fact you already added her profile. A thin ensamble of laser rays, almost invisible, is projeced towards her and the selected target orgal (obviously Claudia's heart) becomes visible on the screen. Her heart is beating like crazy, not only considering the pace but also the strenght of each beat, the app says her heart is beating at around 195 bpm but it's probably even higher. It's something that is completely out of any safety zone for someone who is 34 years old... and not even a younger person should push its heart like this. The device can also work as a digital stethoscope and by wearing headphones to listen to her you remained schoked. Her blood is pushed so violently that it's making strange wooshing-like noises by rubbing against her heart internal structures, sounds that almost cover up her slamming valves. Suddenly the software gives a diagnosis: High cardiac risk- probability of a sudden cardiac arrest of 89%-potentially lethal arrhythias occurring. By looking at her detected heart electrical activities, her organ is so over-stimulated that PVCs and VTACs burst are already present. You know exactly what to do, Claudia's life has an 89% probability to end in the next few minutes and it's increasing. You decide to get up from your seat and run towards the referee to show him the analysis of your device. One of the players' heart is going to stop very soon.
A second before you move, on the ecg a strange beat appears and suddenly Claudia's heart interrupts any activity, it doesn't even fibrillate, it just ceases to beat as silence arises from your headphones. Terrified you see her taking a couple of deep breath, the ball she was holding fell on the ground and her left hand is placed in between her bare breasts... after a moment she collapses on the ground.
You have always wanted to place your hand on her chest to feel her heartbeat but now you have to do this to make it beat again. CPR has to be started immediately.

Ep 4
Pretty solid episode... most of the theories have been validated.
What we got right -
All experiences that Great is having of saving people and essentially everything , it is all in his head... nothing happening for real
4 minutes because heart stopping and brain stopping - dead to really really dead is 4 minutes (we are 11.02 right now.. Great is alive until 11:04)
After death experience - were right about beliefs... wherein one patient saw angels performing on her.. whereas the 4 min. thing is more about regrets and what ifs... ( interestingly, we did not hear Lukwa tell us which part of her life she revisited during her 4 min. journey)
Thing is linked to saving Tyme... This is Great grappling desparately and with all the what ifs to save Tyme... his most important moment, person, life phase...
Tonkla's motive and brother, Tonkla using Win
Timelines -
Scene before intro is the real normal actual timeline (i had this theory since ep 2 and there is another person who had the same theory...don't recall user id) ... So, in the present, ep 1 - Great is in the hospital and Tyme is dying ; ep 2 - Tonkla did murder and take revenge ; ep 3 and 4 - Police is investigating the murders
All of great's experiences - whichever scene he is in is playing in his mind... timeflow is not normal pace
Don't think there are more timelines. Even Korn-Win-Tonkla thing that we are being shown is in the past/ actual past (we can see this because Great is living the past... so he has the full picture at this time)
Where the timeline falters-
3. So, lady was also in her arrest while/when Great went into arrest- ep 1... SO, when she came to visit Dan with her 4 min. experience, she had come out of her cardiac arrest moment and interacted with Dan quite a few times by then...
But great is still on the hospital bed... and yet Dan talks about Great as another patient who can see 4 min. in the future..
My guess is, Lukwa is also someone who existed in past... and great heard of her case...hence she is part of the story in his brain...
He hasn't met lukwa yet in the 4 min. room... he will... and i guess that's when timelines will start sorting themselves out..
Tonkla -
Tonkla killed his dad or was involved hence his fingerprints exist in the database. Cat was likely killed by dad. That's why Mio was so against title because title abuses girls too and is an aggressive person
Definitely using Win for the case
Did love Korn, does love Korn... but will be interesting to see how he reacts when he knows that along with Title, Great was also there when title bludgeoned his brother to death
Korn said he would tell the world that tonkla is his boyfriend...but now korn has a fiancee and uh! messed up
(lol.. at Win not wearing his pants back during the whole time korn was there)
Great -
The place they have run to... which Great has taken them to and not tyme... again reaffirms that this is not real.. all is happening in his head...
So, he is with tyme.. in a nice romantic serene place where no one can find them and which Great doesn't know himself
Ost lyrics
I could give it all to be with you even if it is merely an illusion from the heaven
Every sin and sorrow i shouldered was from my heart's command
It means i could do anything and everything if you were to leave me
I will not say it again but please keep this in mind, You can never leave me
I know fairly well that caring for a venomous snake would make my life suffer everyday
And if one day, anyone betrays me, I can assure you in one word:
Avenge, i will destroy and cleanse it all till your very last day
There will not be a single minute where your wish can be fulfilled
If you ever let go of my hand, i promise you that when we meet next time You will have to come crawling back to me
Even when i know you are venomous, i still endure it
Whatever reason it may be but i am not giving you up to anyone else
You can never leave me
I know fairly well that feeding a venomous snake would make me live in paranoia everyday
And even if you turn to bite my feeding hands and betray me, i can assure you that i will "Avenge"... destroying and cleansing it all till your very last day
I will use your tears to cleanse it all..
In summary
Tonkla and Great have to overlap somewhere with respect to Tyme for the two stories to make sense. Likely Tonkla is on revenge targetting both Title and Great (he could go after tyme given Tyme is precious to Great) Or Korn-Tyme conflict linking itself to Tonkla (aka what if Korn could freely love Tonkla and never pushed into business)
Great's arc... it is like the Godfather... Great is the nice guy, detached from all shady and business stuff... but going by OST... he has to emerge as someone who is way better than Korn at handling this business and upping against every other player
The past that we see in Great's mind is also twisted... e.g. we don't know if Tyme genuinely liked Great or was using him till the very end... but Great must have turned grey (taking over business, handling korn.. etc etc.. to protect tyme)
Going back to the statement that has been made twice now about one's beliefs and religion playing a part on the deathbed.... I THINK.. it is the sheer strong will of great to save Tyme that Tyme might be saved by the end of this ordeal.. Great may or maynot be alive

Hotch, Morgan and Reid Helping their Female!S/O with Cardiac Arrest
Request: Hello my awesome friend 😊 Happy Holidays! May I please request headcanons for Hotch, Derek, and Spencer reacting to their female S/O suffering from cardiac arrest while out in the field with them?
A/N: I hope this is accurate as possible, I did a little bit of research but I don't know how much of this is accurate
TW: Mentions of Cardiac Arrest, Medical talk

The moment you start to feel strange, you bend forward, clutching your chest feeling dizzy and he's at your side. He's worried for a moment that you got shot.
He has training in first aid and knows how to handle this situation obviously
Since you're not unconscious he'll probably pull you with him out of the field and call 911, allowing the others do the takedown without the two of you
And he'll sit with you the entire time to make sure you don't get worse
If you do get worse or start to pass out he will try and keep you awake until the ambulance comes
He will definitely get a little panicked but he won't let that show, he's really good at compartmentalizing his feelings, and he'll do that to put on a brave face for you
When you wake up in the hospital, he will be the first face you see and he'll definitely ban you from takedowns for a while
Derek
Tumblr media
He will not immediately understand what's going on, it will probably take a few minutes for it to register but when it does he leaps into action
He catches you as you're stumbling and he's yelling at someone to call 911 because his arms are full of you
But the worse you look the more impatient he'll get and he'll just end up taking you himself, and yes, he does ignore the traffic laws despite being a decorated FBI agent
At least you make it to the ER in record time
He's probably going to be pacing that waiting room until they come to tell him that you're okay
He's the type that once you're feeling better he'll scold you and tell you not scare him like that again, he really thought you were a goner for a second
And he will push your hair out of your face and sigh in relief
Spencer
Tumblr media
Reid notices you're out of it before you even really notice it yourself, he notices the way you start to sway and the look on your face as your chest starts to hurt
And he asks you what's wrong. The two of you aren't even on a takedown you're just on your way to interview someone
When he sees you start to wince more in pain, he will insist you sit down somewhere
He will administer CPR if the need arises, he has every first aid book he's ever read
And he'll talk to you the whole time, telling you what he's doing and making sure you're aware of what's going on
He will call the team and get you to official medical help, once he's certain he's done all he can do to keep you afloat
But he steals all your Jell-O in the hospital as compensation for keeping you alive

Hey Res! Please ignore this ask if it's too troublesome or bothersome
I saw you had an guide for non-drikers writers that wanted to write about a character who drink. I was wondering if you could the same about guns?
I read synchronicity and I loved it how you used Jason's knowledge with guns to control the narrative and pacing. I don't know if you have actual technical knowledge on handguns (I think it's a no? But maybe you do?) But any tip is nice
Thank you a lot 🩷
Hi anon! This is such a fascinating question and I hope I can provide a somewhat plausible answer. I am familiar with some guns and have shot a few in my lifetime, but I am far from an expert.
Some things I think writers need to keep in mind while writing their firearm-related scenes. For clarity, I'm just going to call them guns below.
Are you thinking of a specific gun? Make sure you know its full name but ALSO make sure you know its nickname. Your character might think of it as "the Berretta" instead of its full name, etc.
What does your gun fire? Does it take shells, bullets, cartridges, etc? Shotguns, for example, don't fire bullets. That's a common mistake I see.
How do you reload said gun? Is it easy? What parts of the gun do you have to touch? Reloading a shotgun is MUCH different from reloading a handgun, for example.
Most guns get hot and release gunpowder residue when shot. They're LOUD. You can have several cascading things happen to a character who fires a gun or is near a gun when it fires: ringing ears, the smell of gunpowder, the hot feeling of the gun's muzzle, etc.
Even the best sharpshooters miss shots. IRL shooting is HARD, especially when moving. Different guns have different benefits to shooting style, stance, targets. Firing a handgun willy-nilly will rarely result in accurate shots, even if you dual wield (which is silly, this is SO hard).
Stance MATTERS. If you've ever seen Hannibal, there's a scene where Will talks about his choice of shooting stance with Beverly. They bicker over Isosceles and Weaver, which are two standard stances. One uses a triangle between your arms and the gun to brace for the kickback of the shot, while the other moves that brace to one side with a different grip. Will eventually chooses the latter stance because of a past shoulder injury. (GIF of Will struggling with his original isosceles stance)
Tumblr media
If a gun isn't properly braced when fired, it will kick back and hit you. Sometimes in the face. Yes this has happened with me and a rifle. My first day shooting cans, I had a huge bruise on my face AND on my chest where the rifle butt kicked back.
If your gun uses bullets, there are different calibers. If you've ever watched Mythbusters, you can see why caliber matters -- it depends what or who you're shooting. Are you trying to penetrate armor? Are you sacrificing accuracy for power? Different guns use different calibers for numerous reasons, and guns can be altered to use other ammo as well.
With respect to discussing caliber while writing: It's all VERY complicated if you don't know guns, so make sure you're not giving too much detail if you can avoid it. That's a very easy way to spot a lack of experience with guns, in my experience. Your reader doesn't need to know the caliber just because the character is shooting a gun -- but in an autopsy, sure, the caliber is relevant.
You will lose your hearing eventually if you fire guns close to your ears unprotected. It's not sexy, and it also causes something called tinnitus. The real pros wear ear protection.
In terms of realism for writing, here's a couple rapid fire busted myths: You can't dodge bullets unless you're superhuman. Bullet wounds to the legs/arms/shoulders can absolutely still be fatal. Cardiac arrest caused by being shot is usually fatal, and CPR doesn't really help on its own. "Running out of shots" depends on the gun AND the modifications someone has made to it. You can't always tell just by looking at a gun what it will do. Silencers are rarely "silent" and are heavily regulated.
Injuries: Some bullets tear through bodies. Some aren't high enough caliber to do more than go in and lodge in some tissue. Some fragment and bounce around in weird ways. Depending on how gruesome you want to get, there's a lot of different ways to describe gunshot injuries. I've always been the kind of person to google images for better understanding, but I understand that's not for everyone. I think NYT or WaPo did a good piece on traumatic gun injuries a few years back, complete with an interview with an ER doc from Chicago (?). One thing I learned there -- sometimes people lose their legs, or both legs, after being shot in their leg.
In terms of describing how someone uses/fights with guns, I know the John Wick movies are a little cheesy, but they are staged by people who REALLY know their guns. They talk about what he's using usually before the scene starts, and there's very few frills when it comes to stance, firing, etc. John does a cool trick in the first or second movie where he ejects a casing one-handed away from his face, a notoriously hard maneuver that most people usually do with two hands to avoid getting burned. I highly recommend watching the John Wick movies for blocking ideas.
Which reminds me -- holding a gun sideways is a terrible idea. For many reasons. Stance, casing ejection, stability, etc. Someone can use it against you.
Never point a gun at something you're not willing to shoot. Well-trained characters should follow this rule religiously. If they were soldiers, agents, etc, they will know this rule.
Similarly, multiple people with guns will "clear" a room before entering. They will be trained for something called crossfire, which is when someone is downrange of their gun and could potentially be shot. A group of characters bursting into a room without clearing their shot is a nightmare. This is how people shoot their friends or random civilians.
I hope someone more knowledgeable can add onto this! These are just some big things that stick out to me when reading. I highly recommend checking out Mythbusters, John Wick, and even Hannibal for some semi-realistic shooting references. Good luck!

It was another patrol with Ellie. At this point, you're both convinced that Tommy is pairing you up on purpose. It was quiet this time, just checking an area that was just outside Jackson for any infected. Luckily, it seemed to be clear so far which you were thankful for. Still, Ellie was on edge, her hand gripping her trusty knife while she walked by your side.
"I don't think there's any infected here." You break the silence, almost making Ellie jump with how on edge she was. "Let's check around the bend." She ignores your dismissal and continues walking. You sigh but follow her nonetheless. "So," You start, Ellie's attention now on you as you both continued to walk. "Seems like we keep getting paired up together for patrol." You state the obvious but Ellie laughs anyway.
"Yeah, we must be a good team." She nudged her shoulder into your side gently. It was your turn to laugh now. "Yeah, guess we are." You shot her a smile to which she so graciously returned. The silence overtook the two of you despite how much you wanted to continue the conversation.
The two of you were coming up to the bend. Ellie was still gripping her knife, probably tighter now. She looked at you, silently asking if you were ready to which you nodded. She nodded back, letting you know she understood before she motioned for you to follow her. The both of you turned the corner and were met with nothing. You let out a relieved sigh but Ellie's guard was still up.
"I guess it's clear." She spoke quietly as she lowered her knife. "Should we head back then?" You matched your volume to hers. "Yeah... Yeah." She nodded as she turned around and you were quick to follow her.
It had only been 5 minutes that the two of you had been walking and it was a long walk to Jackson. "Ellie?" You call her name with no sign of distress in your voice but she still turns around as quickly as she can, scanning you and the area around you to make sure you weren't in any danger. "What?" She says a little harsher than she meant to, her heartbeat still racing at the mere thought of you in danger.
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." You laugh awkwardly and hold your hands up in a surrender position and she turns back around to continue walking and gesturing for you to follow her. "You didn't." You knew it was a lie considering she almost just went into cardiac arrest but just nodded your head in response.
"What's up? Did you need something?" She looks at you while she walks, vaguely keeping an eye in front of you two just in case. "Just feels like forever since we had the chance to catch up. You've just been so busy with Cat." Her name rolls off your tongue with malice but Ellie doesn't seem to notice it.
Ellie laughs awkwardly, reaching her hand to the back of her neck. "Yeah, sorry. You know her, she's just kinda, like, possessive and shit." She bit her lip and you couldn't tell if she was turned on by that or embarrassed. "Well, maybe we could hang out tonight?" You smile at her with butterflies in your stomach as you hope she says yes.
"Tonight? Can't. I'm busy with you know... stuff." She spoke quickly, scanning your face for any sign of a reaction. "Stuff?" You question. Did she have plans with Cat? "Sorry." She decided she was done with this conversation, walking ahead of you silently. "Hey, wait." You quicken your pace to catch up with her.
"What kind of stuff? Maybe I could help?" You try again, maybe this time you'll get to hang out with your best friend who you so desperately want to spend time with. Ellie stays quiet and it starts to piss you off how neglecting she's being. "Hellooo?-" Within seconds, Ellie is pressing you behind a tree with her hand covering your mouth.
You look at her, confused by her sudden movements. She moves a finger up to her lips, signaling you to be quiet. You follow her instructions despite how utterly lost you were. After a few seconds, you can hear the sound of a clicker and your heart instantly starts beating faster. "Let it go by." She mouths, a hushed whisper coming out but not loud enough for the clicker to hear it.
Ellie shifts her body and you're suddenly aware of just how close she is. You can feel the items she has shoved in her pockets and the fabric of her shirt against your exposed skin. You swallow thickly and Ellie is sure it's because of how close that clicker is and how unequipped the both of you are and definitely not the fact that she's close enough to smell the homemade perfume you're wearing. Right?
Seconds pass and seconds turn to minutes. Ellie's hand is still covering your mouth and her body is still pressed against yours. You reach your hands up, prying her hand off your mouth. "I think it's gone." You whisper. "Oh, yeah! Yeah, you're right." She backs away from you with a blush on her face and kicks some sticks with her shoe.
You watch Ellie return to the route, waiting for you to be right next to her before she starts walking. Your footsteps are off pace and have no rhythm clashing with the way Ellie walked, which was with reason. It was quiet for a while. It wasn't awkward but it wasn't peaceful either. You were caught up in your head and you were sure Ellie was as calm as ever.
You were so horribly wrong. Ellie's mind was racing, thinking of how close your bodies were, how you leaned into her when you heard the clicker, how badly she wanted to kiss you, how she had a girlfriend. Oh, right, Cat.
"How did you even hear it?" You break the silence, far too tired of the anxiousness growing in your body. Ellie looked at you and shook her head. "Dumb luck." She chuckles quietly and kicks a rock with her shoe as the two of you continue your way back to Jackson. "Oh." You sound relieved and she doesn't understand why but she doesn't press you on it, instead just keeping quiet and hoping to get home soon.
"Good ear." You compliment and smile at her. She gives you a small nod, choosing not to acknowledge you anymore. The gravel underneath your feet feels so loud to you as you gather more courage that you don't seem to have. "Since tonight isn't good, do you maybe wanna watch a movie on Friday?" You pull your hands up in front of you, keeping them at your midriff as you pick away on dead skin.
Ellie stops in her tracks, turning to look at you. You almost bump into her, stumbling on your feet for a moment before recomposing yourself and looking at her with a confused look. "I have a girlfriend. You are aware that Cat is my girlfriend, right?" She sounded harsh like you shouldn't have even thought about asking Ellie to hang out.
You both freeze as you realize this was the first time Ellie ever admitted to being with Cat. Sure, you and Dina had speculated, but up until now, you didn't even know for sure if Ellie likes girls or not.
"I mean, I kinda assumed. Yeah?" You didn't know what Cat had to do with you asking Ellie to hang out. "So, stop trying to ask me out." Oh. "I wasn't-" She doesn't let you finish your sentence before she starts rambling. "You have been. For months. 'Ellie, do you wanna do this' or 'Ellie, let's do this.' Lay off." The words stung her just as much as they stung you.
You were angrier than anything. Where was this audacity coming from? "Am I not allowed to want to hang out with my friend?" Your attitude rose with every word. Ellie wasn't wrong though. You may have been playing it off as just wanting to hang out with your friend but with every little advance, a part of you hoped Ellie would take it in a non-platonic way.
She stood there not saying a word. Had she really got it wrong? "Whatever." She turned back around. She didn't wait for you to walk with her this time. Quite frankly, if you had to guess, you'd say she's probably hoping you walk 10 feet behind her.
