MerMay 2023 Part 2!
Mushroom, Celestial, Heartbreak, Fairy, Villain, Dystopian
I enjoyed drawing the lighting in the Mushroom pic, and I really like how the Dystopian design turned out. The Mer-Toothfairy was just fun lol
The villain, Katalaya, belongs to @auditect

it's interesting to me that kaidou specifically says that yamato should address him as 父上/chichue. i've talked about it before, but it's a particularly formal and antiquated way of saying 'father.' the only other people we have seen using it (and the corresponding 母上/hahaue for 'mother') up to this point are oden's children (being from a high-class samurai family) and the celestial dragons, and i think the merfolk princes as well?
to me, it certainly says something about kaidou's aspirations that he is expecting that same level of formality and respect from his son- like he is trying to forcibly make them into a samurai family.

Fantasy place (which you can use for your story)
Some fantasy places you can use for your next story .
Luminoth Hollow: A subterranean cavern filled with glowing crystals that emit soothing light. Luminoth Hollow is home to a race of peaceful, bioluminescent creatures who communicate through light patterns.
Zephyria: A floating archipelago of lush, skyborne islands, tethered together by colossal, living vines. Each island has its unique ecosystem and is inhabited by winged creatures who navigate the skies between them.
Aurora Glade: A tranquil meadow hidden within a giant, sentient tree. The glade is bathed in eternal twilight and inhabited by gentle, dreamweaving creatures who protect the dreams of those who visit.
The Obsidian Spire: A towering, black monolith that pierces the heavens. It's said that at its peak lies a portal to another realm, guarded by enigmatic sentinels who test the worth of those who seek passage.
Eldertide Marsh: A mystical swamp where ancient, sentient trees rise from the waters, and luminous fireflies lead travelers along phosphorescent pathways. It's rumored that the marsh holds the key to unlocking forgotten knowledge.
Clockwork Citadel: A colossal, mechanical fortress powered by intricate gears and steam. Clockwork automatons serve as both guardians and caretakers, and the citadel houses a library containing the accumulated wisdom of the ages.
Whispering Sands: A desert where the dunes are constantly shifting, and the winds carry the whispers of long-forgotten spirits. At its heart stands an oasis of liquid crystal that reveals glimpses of the past and future.
The Eternal Library: A massive, floating island covered in towering bookshelves. Each book contains the life story of an individual, and the library is said to grant the power to rewrite destinies.
Gloomwood Thicket: A dense, enchanted forest perpetually cloaked in twilight. Within its shadows reside shadowy creatures that can manipulate time, making it a place of both wonder and danger.
Abyssal Abyss: An underwater realm where bioluminescent flora and fauna thrive. Merfolk and other aquatic beings have built stunning, glowing cities within deep-sea caves.
Sylvan Skylines: An archipelago of floating islands inhabited by tree-dwelling, bird-like beings who harness the power of wind and weather. They craft intricate bridges and pathways connecting their aerial homes.
Whispering Peaks: Towering, mist-shrouded mountains said to hold the knowledge of the cosmos. Monasteries and meditation chambers dot the landscape, where monks seek enlightenment through quiet contemplation.
The Emberforge: An underground forge where skilled blacksmiths craft legendary weapons and armor imbued with the essence of fallen stars. The air is filled with the sound of hammers on metal and the crackling of celestial flames.
The Crystal Canyons: A network of canyons adorned with enormous, glowing crystals that resonate with hauntingly beautiful melodies when touched. Nomadic crystal herders roam the canyons, taming the living crystals.
The Dreamer's Archipelago: A series of islands, each representing different dreams and nightmares. Travelers can enter these dreamscapes and interact with the inhabitants, who are manifestations of dreams themselves.

Oneshot Project: Which of these should I work on or would you wish for a WIP of? [If you wish to be tagged for a writing WIP reply/comment so, also feel free to send in asks if you want to know more about any of them]
Dragon Au Unreliable Narrators, curtesy of Tim, with semi-dark Batfam thanks to them well, not being human. Includes Jason getting dragged back home kicking and screaming and human Tim eventually also becoming dragon.
Living Armor Au Semi-modern fantasy Au thing, with the batfam being more than a little oblivious to the fact that their allies think they are people in armor, not supernatural creatures. This also leads to misunderstandings when Bruce mentions they're getting a new family member.
Merfolk Au Gotham's version of merfolk is like a specialized super predator. Or maybe that's just the Bats, because despite most of them being based off of not exactly aggressive or even large fish, they Can take off someone's hand. It also doesn't help that no one thinks to mention the fact that Gotham is the sea's Eldritch Dead Zone.
Griffon Au Mostly fluff and found family, and Bruce with his kids as young kids. Includes him desperately trying to convince them to do Anything other than vigilantism, Please, and them just laughing at him. Also includes Alfred in shorts during the winter because he's built different.
Kobold-Dog Au Batfam, but they're lizard dog people with apposable thumbs. Includes baby Damian and some inspiration from the kobold of german folklore as well.
Kitsune Au Magical batfamily who might just specialize in more illusionary magic? Yeah, and some of them even count as holy creatures. Also, as kitsune can act as mediums between the mortal and celestial? They might interact with a few ghosts. Also Sentient Gotham City.

💎 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Mask of the Planeseeker
Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement) ___ This elaborate mask was first worn by an interplanar diplomat. While wearing it, you understand any spoken language you hear, and when you speak, any creature that can hear you and knows at least one language can understand what you say. The mask also functions as an "amulet of the planes." You can't be unwillingly transported to another plane of existence or teleported against your will while wearing this mask. Depending on the plane of existence it's on, the mask's appearance and effect changes. Its appearance is stylized and ornate, regardless of the form it takes. Refer to the table below to determine its effects on various planes. Plane of Existence | Mask Appearance | Gemstone Color and Damage Type | — Material Plane       |   An ornate rendition of your own face    |        Pearlescent; Force - Elemental Plane of Air   |   The face of a djinni or air elemental   |         White; Lightning - Elemental Plane of Earth  | The face of a basilisk or earth elemental |          Brown; Thunder - Elemental Plane of Fire   | The face of an efreeti or fire elemental  |            Red; Fire - Elemental Plane of Water  | The face of a merfolk or water elemental  |            Blue; Cold - Fey-influenced plane    |        The face of an elf or dryad        |         Violet; Psychic - Shadow-influenced plane   |      The face of a shadow or wraith       |         Black; Necrotic - Fiend-influenced plane   |      The face of a balor or rakshasa      |           Orange; Fire - Celestial-influenced plane |  The face of a platinum dragon or solar   |         Yellow; Radiant A gemstone sits at the center of the mask's forehead, which draws power from the associated plane of existence. You gain resistance to the damage type associated with the gemstone. The mask has 3 charges and regains 1d3 expended charges daily at dawn. While wearing the mask, you can expend 1 of its charges as a bonus action to change the plane of existence the mask is associated with. After 1 hour, the mask reverts to its normal form. ___ ✨ Patrons get huge perks! Access this and hundreds of other item cards, art files, and compendium entries when you support The Griffon's Saddlebag on Patreon for less than $10 a month!
