I just made her… a hot chick… I don't know… Purple! Mom! Big sister…???

The thing with Circe is that she is kind of the walking stereotype (that some ancient Greek dudes thought of): hot + smart + boobs = EVIL. It is a fun archetype to create but at the same time sooooo.... boring? But alas, I decided to follow that route.

Like I said before, I did want her to appear more as a motherly figure. And if I'm going to do any of Circe's songs, then I want the nymphs to make cameos. And I like the idea that the nymphs aren't sexy baes. That they are literally young girls. I don't really have any solid designs of the nymphs, but I probably will have them made of plants or something similar.

Also, I did add a cute "easter egg". Her bracelet that has two leaves on it. I imagined that it was made by the nymphs as a present.

May 29th, 1986

Outside Malfoy Manor

“Tag! You’re it!” The sound of the four children playing outside Malfoy Manor, not a care in the world. While inside the Manor, more nefarious dealings are going on…

Theodore Nott, Y/N Riddle, Mattheo Riddle, and Draco Malfoy were inseparable for their age, though each had their favorite. Y/N aside Theodore and Mattheo aside Draco. Neither of the four was rarely seen far from the other, the group causing mischief when their parents weren’t looking (or in the twins’ case, their caretakers, the Malfoy’s).

As time sees it currently, the Core Four as they so deemed themselves, were playing tag. Currently, the older of the twins–Mattheo–was the tagger, heading straight for his sister, laughing maniacally.

“Come on, Y/N/N! Give your big brother a hug,” the Riddle boy tumbles towards his sister (who currently is using Theodore as a shield), arms wide open.

Y/N laughs, shielding herself from her brother, “Teddy, save me!”

“Don’t worry! I got you,” the curly-haired Nott boy shields the tiny girl from her bumbling brother.

Mattheo comes barreling into Theo saying, “You’re it, Theo!”

Y/N quickly lets go of the boy and runs with the other two, laughing and yelling. Mattheo and Y/N go running to Draco trying to sway Theodore to go towards him instead. Though making the mistake of looking back, Y/N runs into her brother, making him fall onto the Malfoy boy. Theodore, not seeing what had occurred between the three, preceded to fall onto all three.

For a split second, everything goes quiet between the four. Each eyeing the other intently. Suddenly, a chorus of laughs erupts from the Core Four. The laughs were the loudest and the hardest they had ever shared (though not saying much as they were all of six at the time).

None of the children knew it, but this would be one of the last times they would ever laugh nearly as hard until they reached their mid-twenties. Because in a few years time, things would take a drastic turn for the worse. The stars would seem darker, memories would seem bleaker, and happiness would feel as if a thing of the past.

Another thing none of the children knew was what dealings were currently unfolding inside the house between Lucius Malfoy and Theodore Nott Sr., nor what was brewing between two certain children currently staring at each other intently with happiness within their eyes. Not knowing how much truth the nicknames they had deemed each other with would hold…

The three boys stood, Y/N still lying content on the drive of Malfoy Manor.

Theo held out his tiny hand smiling the biggest smile he ever smiled, “Ready, Andromeda?”

Y/N grabbed his tiny hand with her own, the same infectious smile gracing her face, “Ready, Perseus.”

They were in fact NOT READY…

May 29th, 1986

Inside Malfoy Manor

“That settles it then.” The strict voice of Lucius Malfoy emanates through the room, “Your boy and the sole daughter of the Dark Lord will be wed in the summer of their sixth year.”

Theodore Nott Sr. nods stiffly, his Italian accent prominent as he voices, “A match of the Dark Lord himself.”

The wives of the two Death Eaters–Narcissa Malfoy and Circe Nott, best friends–look at each other in trepidation, already aware of their husband’s intentions beforehand. The knowing look they gave each other calmed and confirmed their worried thoughts of their husband’s business dealings. Wishes for the children to be able to choose their own destinies (although, both knew that the younger Riddle twin and the Nott boy would end up in each other's arms either way) swirling unsaid through the air.

Outside, the rain starts. The children rush inside in, hushed whispers dissipating as they reach the eyes of the adults sensing the serious atmosphere, smiles still apparent on their faces.

Narcissa and Circe give each other one last glance before they turn to the Core Four and smile. “Come here little ones,” the voice of Narcissa rang out through the lounge room, opening her arms. The children rush towards their respective mother figures, going on about their day of tag.

Lucius and Nott Sr. reenter the room calling the attention of the children. Theodore Sr. clears his throat, “Theodore, Y/N. Would you please join us?”

The brown-haired boy and the h/c girl look to each other and join Theo’s father and Y/N’s temporary father figure inside the large, dark office.

Malfoy gestures to two seats before the best friends, “Sit. We have much to discuss…”

That evening, the Nott boy and the Riddle girl lost the first piece of their innocence, learning as to what was to be expected of them. At the age of six, both betrothed to each other for an eternity.

At least they would always be each other’s Perseus and Andromeda…

I CANT believe it, first chapter of Perseus and Andromeda: Destined already out! I truly cannot believe it! This is my first real fic, and I am absolutely besotted for it to actually come to fruition. Thank you to ALL of you whether you’re new or old.

I’m sure you guys are just as excited as I am to join Theo and Y/N on their journey of love, heart-break, and everything in-between. (Little spoiler alert: they both receive the happy ending they deserve.)

TROUBLE COMES TWICE: BONUS STORIES

Testing Bonus Stories has mostly been about tweaking the script and fixing silly sprite mistakes. (Also, Cam and Adrian hanging out alone at the park? What could they be talking about? 🤔)

We jumped the gun and said probably February for the release (obviously, that didn't happen). We're very confident about releasing the DLC this month though, so keep an eye out for a release date in the coming week! 💜

We've been focused on Bonus Stories, but there's a lot happening behind-the-scenes on our new project thanks to our amazing art team.

SPRITES

Lydia's just wrapped up the first sprites for the eight main characters (including protagonists Circe and Dante)! We're now working on the expressions and minor pose changes for these before moving onto the side characters needed for the upcoming demo.

UI

We spent February experimenting with logo drafts! Toby had so many good ideas, it was tough to decide on just one.

Though we're going to keep the finished logo a secret until we're ready to announce, we figured it couldn't hurt to show a quick look at some of the icon ideas. 😉

BACKGROUNDS

Just last month, we welcomed the incredibly talented Damien to the team. He's already worked through about half of the BGs we need for the demo and we're extremely excited to see them in-game! 🌙

It's hard to wait and not just show off everything right away when we're so excited about the future of this project!! Hopefully sometime this spring, we can make a proper announcement and reveal more. ✨

As for your juicy questions...

How did I get into writing?

I'm so honoured that you like my style. That is such high praise coming from a poet like yourself! 🥹 When I was a kid I loved reading and words and stories. My first "career ambition" was expressed at 9, I wanted to be an author! And when I was a teenager, I occasionally wrote stories, and I wrote loads of fanfic from 15-17 (it was a lifeline for me at that time too!). But I had really low self esteem so it was a struggle to maintain creativity alongside the self doubt and perfectionism, and trying to be A High Achiever and all the rest of it. So I lost the habit of writing. I did write some poems when I was in my early twenties, and blogged a fair bit, but didn't have the presence of mind to write stories. Life got in the way. I forgot that I have a writer's soul.

And then in 2021 I did a creative writing course, and started writing a novel on and off. I then got BG3 brainrot last year, the novel fell to the wayside (lol) because of fanfic, and now I'm here!

My novel is 2/3 of the way through, and I hope to one day finish it and get it published! I would like to be a full time writer eventually 💜

What are some of your favourite books?

She is my greatest influence. I hope to write like her one day! Every word she writes is poetry. So much wisdom and pain and beauty, so much economy in her writing. Her books have transformed me. I just love her work so much.

* The Greenlanders by Jane Smiley

I love the Icelandic sagas and this book basically reads like a real saga from the Viking age. It's incredible. Like something unearthed from the ancient depths.

*The Hours by Michael Cunningham

When I first read this book I felt like it illuminated a fundamental universal truth and cracked my soul open. I need to re-read it...

Some book series:

* A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin

* The Witcher by Andrzei Sapowski

* The Southern Reach Trilogy by Jeff Vandermeer

All amazing, immersive, meticulous, expertly written. The first two are well known and beloved in fandom. The Southern Reach Trilogy is super weird and fucks with your head - Lovecraftian.

I am also a big fan of Sylvia Plath's poetry.

I'm sure there are more works I'm forgetting but I could go on and on!

I now have the idea of Nazo and seelkadoom being the legendary sorcerers on Circe’s island, and Iris being odysseyus. But instead of being married in a loving relationship and killed the young prince of hector, she took the baby in and is raising him herself while actively running away from a toxic arranged marriage. She makes all her men drop any and all weapons and let the nymphs carry them off, and the nymphs play with her quills and do them up in pretty styles as she feeds her little prince milk and tells them about her travels over the past decade or so.

The two sorcerers are surprised that a married woman is so far away from her husband, and with a baby. However, once she reveals she actually ran away with the war to escape her marriage, risking her title of “Queen” of Ithaca. The two have a deal for her.

Stay with them for a while and let them court her, and they can remove the life-steal ring on her finger, and help her secure the throne. Plus, they can help take care of the little prince, why not?

Only problem is, she does have around ~600 men to feed and get home safely. So now all that remains between captain Iris and living her best life with two handsome sorcerers are how to get them all home. Well, thankfully. There’s a third sorcerer, one who is skilled in teleportation. Someone by the name of shadow. He agrees to help them get home, but only with the right compensation. So, each man gives him between 10~100 gold. Iris pays for the rest, and they all get teleported back to Ithaca. Their instructions when they get back? Report to her mother and sisters that she’s now in a courtship with two sorcerers…

She just hope that her father doesn’t find out and tries to use the lifesteal ring to make her come home. Granted, her newfound suitors won’t let her go back without a fight…. 👀

Goddesses:

Circe - A greek goddess born from the nymph Perse and the titan Helios. Circe has vast knowledge of potions, herbs, and animals. In Homer's Odyssey, she turns Odysseus’s men into pigs.

Ma'at - Egyptian goddess of truth, justice, balance, and order. In death, you must balance your heart against her feather to determine if you are worthy of the afterlife.

Pele - Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes, fire, and creator of the Hawaiian islands. She resides in Kīlauea, one of the most active volcanoes on earth.

Morrigan - Irish goddess of war, death, and destiny. Seeing Morrigan in battle was terrifying, as it meant impending doom on enemies. She often appears as a crow.

Sedna - Inuit goddess of the sea and marine animals. Unwilling to marry, her father threw her into the sea. When she tried to climb back on the boat, he cut off her fingers. Her fingers became marine life and she became their guardian.

Last book I read: Starling House by Alix E. Harrow (pretty decent gothic horror/fantasy, wouldn’t necessarily read again)

Book I would recommend: Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt (excellent and read multiple times. About a young girl and her relationship with her uncle who has AIDS. One of my faves)

Book I couldn’t put down: A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara (I devoured this once I got into it. Read at your best judgment and massive TWs. Still absolutely beautiful writing)

Book on my TBR: Ever Since by Alena Bruzas (I've already read this, but need to reread it because it was so good. TW for abuse).

A book I’ve put down: I’ve put down a lot recently…all super popular adult fiction that I am dumbfounded by their horrible writing. The latest was Circe by Madeline Miller (I do not understand the hype. Poorly written and average plot)

A book on my wishlist: The Glass Girl by Kathleen Glasgow (coming out in October! So excited!)

A favorite book from childhood: anything by Tamora Pierce as well as The Wrinkle in Time quartet by Madeline L'Engle

A non-fiction book you own: Dust In The Blood: A Theology of Life with Depression by Jessica Coblentz (best theological text on mental health I have ever read. She debunks common Christian ablest arguments in a thoughtful, creative way that is not grounded in redemptive suffering)

Currently reading: Weyward by Emilia Hart (so far intriguing. Plot split across three time periods with three related women and generational magic)

Planning to read next: What Kind of Girl by Alyssa B. Sheinmel (her other book was well-done, so looking forward to this one)
