Personal Planning for my SPN Fanfic

If/when I get around to writing my spn fanfic, one focuses around Ben Braeden, Jesse Turner, and Krissy Chambers… there are a few things I definitely want to touch on character, setting, and plot wise.

This post, and any posts I may link to this one, is partly for me to help structure my world building of the fic, and just get my ideas pushed out (cause I really wanna talk about them)

Basic Info (the vibes and the essentials)

• Things are slightly different from original show. No super huge changes canon-wise (because it takes place after the season 15)

• It mainly takes the general concepts of Supernatural, and expands them. Essentially doing what that sweet, sweet CW budget wouldn’t allow.

• Instead of driving from state to state across the USA, they’re globetrotting to different countries (and still driving throughout the USA too).

• Monsters are more monstrous. I never liked how most of the monsters of SPN fall into the “They’re basically human… but with one or two distinct features and super strength,” category. There IS an explanation for why monsters are changing, involving an original made antagonist connected to the Styne family from season 10.

• Instead of solving small town mysteries (which they still will occasionally do), they’re uncovering secrets decades, centuries, or even thousands of years old.

• They’re doing things like exploring seemingly dilapidated manors, unearthing ancient crypts and temples, and fighting cults of monsters that’ve taken over a small village in north Europe (among other things).

• It’s all somewhat Tomb Raider x Silent Hill x Resident Evil (specifically 1, 4, & 5) but incredibly Supernatural-fied.

• It’s gonna get real fucking gay… and badass… and also sad at times.

Three people, three souls, each one intertwined by destiny, by fickle fate, by the journey of the famous, and equally infamous, Sam and Dean Winchester.

Krissy Chambers, her life of hunting long behind her, yet never vanishing. She, who suffered worst fate. The fate every hunter eventually suffers: the fate of losing everything, and everyone. Her father, her friends, all dead. And the Winchesters? Gone. Disappeared years ago. And those years take their toll. The desperation to feed oneself, to survive and forget, it becomes stronger. aw thank u. a lot of the formatting stuff was trial and error. for the larger collections i referenced books i really liked and compiled them on photoshop. for the pocket zines i put them on a 8 1/2 x 11 document (printer paper size) and format them based on a old guide i saw a while ago. here's an example i found by taylor rushing that could help.

Some ppl wanted me to go on my rambles about Murder Drones world building stuff, so here you go. Decided to start off by combining two of the Disassembly Drone topics I think about a lot. Sorry if there's any typos, I compiled this in SAI lol Transcript under the cut for those who can't read the images

Disassembly Drones & YOU! aka @poisonouspastels' overanalysis and scattered rambling on characters in a webseries So how many disassembly drones are left anyways?

This is a topic that facinates me a lot, actually! In the series we of course only ever predominantly focus on 3 of them, being N, V, and J, but we are made aware of the existence of plenty of other disassembly drones, many of which outright sharing designs with fellow worker drones seen in the manor. In Cabin Fever Labs alone we see at least 17 corpses, potentially more, not accounting for scattered dismembered limbs and what belonged to who. Already this is a pretty significant indicator of amounts, and this is at minimum those killed by sentinels. More become apparent via Alice's "collection." Its a common fandom joke that there's just as many disassembly drones as there are letters in the alphabet, though I imagine this not to be the case. Their serial letters seem to not be an exclusive trait judging by their armbands, and are simply nicknames given by Tessa based upon such. Though there isn't inherently evidence for this fact, its entirely possible that there are other disassembly drones with shared serial letters (though not numbers.)

Additionally in the literal End Of The World, we see a few additional disassembly drones (though those could be the same ones seen in CFL), notably all in the same condensed area, a city somewhere on Earth. I think its important to note that this seems to be DURING Earth's downfall, implying that the planet likely wasn't destroyed all at once (to the point where we see military involvement) and moreover, that disassembly drones were those who picked off the scraps.

There does seem to be some additional evidence towards the idea that the Earth wasn't destroyed all at once, via the photos of Earth we see though the CFL computers, where major parts are intact, but in the process of being destroyed. Earth being completely destroyed, as we see it in the satellite image, is the result of at minimum being 18 years (assuming this is roughly the age of Uzi based on Liam's words and ages shown in-series) gone. Additionally, we know that two other planetary systems were destroyed before the arrival of Disassembly Drones on Copper 9, being the Proxima and then Plat-Binary system, so it is entirely possible during this period of time that Earth could have been destroyed in the process of any time between days to years, possibly even being destroyed in tandem with other planetary systems instead of being jumped to one by one.

Though its generally impossible to give an EXACT number of how many Disassembly Drones are still kicking around on Copper 9 (aside from saying "at least 3") its safe to assume that if Earth really wasn't destroyed all in one day, and there is likely more Disassembly Drones than there is letters in the alphabet, then there's probably a lot more of them that were made than the average viewer would anticipate. How many of them are ALIVE though? Up for debate, between them seemingly being killed en mass by sentinels, and even just a simple worker like Alice being able to cull a few for her collection. (As an aside, there's two other unnamed planetary systems in range of Earth on this map that have gone untouched by the Solver. Neat!)

Disassembly Drones outside of the main 3 aren't mindless killing machines, you just wildly misinterpreted Cyn's line. I can feel the digital tomatoes being thrown at me already.

This is probably going to be one of my more controversial takes in terms of "commonly accepted by the fandom" material. I don't want to outright call anyone wrong in their interpretation of this line, but I see this used so often to be a debate point for the idea that all Disassembly Drones aside from N, V, and J, are simply turned into mindless killing machines with no personalities of their own. However, so much just… doesn't support this.

I've had a very large qualm with the "no other Disassembly Drones have thoughts/feelings/personalities of their own, they're just mindless killing machines, etc etc." mindset that has been so commonly adopted by the fandom for a while now. Because of this, I've had a lot of time to stew on it, and will be breaking this into pieces.

Disassembly Drones DO have their own thoughts and feelings still, and by extension are shown to at least have empathy for their kin, even in dying moments. Its unclear as to when the CFL Disassembly Drones were killed, if they were all together or it was in succession of eachother, but there is a clear fact to be seen: the warnings they left behind for those who would follow. Warnings of the same Sentinels that ripped them to bits, written in their own oil as a dying act. Messages of "DON'T LOOK" and "THE LIGHTS", as well as the crude depiction of the Sentinel's face litter the area. A very clear indication of danger, and a very clear warning. I feel like this alone conveys the idea that Disassembly Drones have far more on their mind that just murder. At least some form of care for their kin that would come after them is shown through these warnings, even if it would not be heeded. Their thoughts when dying were not on themselves - but in a last plea to attempt to save others that would come after.

Our Sentinel friends actually get to help with our next point:

Disassembly Drones, and by extension drones on the whole, are likely unable to properly function without any form of personality or higher cognitive function. I will admit that this subject can stray slightly into headcanon territory, but is somewhat supported by evidence shown in canon. To start, we'll give out the three categories of robots made by JC Jenson: Worker Drones, (Anti-Drone) Sentinels, and the Robo-roaches (tied with the separate branch of Keybug(s)) Worker drones are of course shown to have said higher form of function. They are capable of rational thought, decision making, and functioning of their own accord outside of an assigned task. The Robo-roaches, though unable to communicate verbally (save for the Keybug variation(s) with their text functions) do seem to show at least some form of greater cognitive function, acknowledging with hand (leg) gestures gratefulness at the acknowledgement of not being crushed, and showing a sort of disgust/weariness at seeing one of its own kind being beheaded, before shortly being dispatched itself. If you'd like to assume they are on similar cognitive level as the keybug counterpart, you can also add emotional responses to their capabilities. Sentinels, however… seem incapable of any higher decision making or cognitive function than your average animal, if that. They are given a task that they seemingly STRICTLY follow: Eliminate all AI targets.

Notably, despite their human creators, they seem to have a lack of care for human wellbeing, judging by the response of a Sentinel (specifically later officially known as Sparky) being very willing to bite (fake) Tessa, alongside the others soon after the fact being just as willing to attack what they perceive as a bleeding human. "But Rose" I hear the audience shout, "We know that Tessa was actually Cyn this whole time, so maybe the Sentinels were just confused and acted accordingly!" And to that I do agree to some degree! Sparky's reaction to blood very possibly had something to do with this factor, though it is notable that he is the ONLY Sentinel that had this reaction to the sight of blood. But to this I also say:

"CODE RED SECURITY PROTOCOL OVERRIDE ANTI-DRONE SENTINELS ENGAGED RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. SEEK SHELTER OR VACATE THE PREMISE IMMEDIATELY!"

It's already KNOWN that Sentinels can attack humans, even before the core collapse. They don't have the cogantive function to differentiate even between humans and drones in their orders, they do nothing but attack everything except themselves. Ironically, the very same thing that a large chunk of the fanbase claims the Disassembly Drones to be.

While of course we never outright meet a Disassembly Drone outside of the main 3, another thing that should be inferred is: Would it truly be USEFUL to have Disassembly Drones be mindless killing machines? On paper, maybe, the Absolute Solver's end goal is seemingly just to consume everything at any cost after all. HOWEVER, I think that one crucial detail is often forgotten about our murder friends: At their core (ha), they are still modified and infected worker drones. (Sorry to all of you with fan kid OCs, you keep doing what you're doing, but that Disassembly/Worker hybrid kid you made would just be a Worker Drone) This too dives into personal headcanon based on these facts, but I imagine that it is quite literally outright impossible for worker drones to function to a full degree without a personality. If drones were capable of not being given personalities or some form of sentience en mass, I think JC Jenson would have made them that way to begin with. Not only to circumvent the whole morality debate that comes with, but also the potential robot uprising. After all, why would you NEED to give a robot a personality, any sense of self if you just want it to do everything that you say without hesitation? Because it needs it. Having a brain means nothing if you can't think with it. We already have robots that do what we want because we programmed them too, but you cannot build an intelligent being without the rationale for problem solving, decision making, and obedience. There's probably more to be said about humanity's treatment of Worker Drones, how they're often made to start with the intelligence of children to cultivate obedience, and likewise how they are treated, but that's a subject for another day.

So what's the conclusion in all that then?

Chances are, when this was said by Cyn, it was meant more figuratively. Not "retain your personalities" as in "I didn't get rid of them entirely," but rather as in "I didn't change them to better suit what I needed."

Worker Drones may not be able to function properly with a complete lack of a personality, but they CAN function with an altered personality. In fact, we see this shown outright in the series: with Cyn herself, and her infection via the Absolute Solver. Granted, this may have been a gradual change, or it may have been a radical shift from what she once was. We never see Cyn before her time in the landfill after all, so it's impossible to say with 100% certainty, but we do know at the very minimum that Cyn is not who she once was because of factors largely outside her control. Additionally, it has been noted by Liam before that the Disassembly Drones lost the information of both their birth (manufacturing?) dates alongside their names when they were originally disassembled (ie. when they ended up in the landfill, not when Cyn tore them apart, as they still very clearly remember their serial designation based names.), so a loss of a basic sense of self isn't unheard of in death, but a personality is still retained.

Therefore, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that Disassembly Drones outside of N, V, and J do have personalities- just not the ones they originally had. Likely instead ones made to benefit Cyn further in what she wants, as she does specifically designate it as "your team", implying the existence of other teams, indicating at least some sense of unison among other groups of Disassembly Drones. Wow this got long.

Tanbi to Heroine - Literary classics adapted into shoujo manga

I want to talk about the book of my dreams: Mangaka! Sekai Bungaku - Tanbi to Heroine (マンガ化! 世界文学 耽美とヒロイン). It's a compilation of shoujo manga from the 1970s and 1980s which are adaptations of classics from world literature. Each manga has a little introduction about its artist, and the work it was adapted from. Thank you, our Tosho no Ie overlords.

It came out in 2022, and I'm so happy to own this book. After watching Aoi Bungaku and falling in love with what they did with Kokoro there, I've always wanted to see more anime/manga adaptations of literature. Seeing how authors/directors give the works their own interpretations while still staying faithful to the original work, and not trying to do a 1:1 adaptation can be great, as long as they don't jump the shark. Speaking of which, I even liked Gankutsuou despite the bizarre 3D space mecha fights because Edmond Dantès was still there. I can't get mad at it when the director gets the core of the work right.

Anyway, I want to present this awesome book and the manga collected in this volume!

Hagio Moto – Shiroi Tori ni Natta Shoujo (白い鳥になった少女)

Adapted from Andersen's The Girl Who Trod on A Loaf, and first published in Bessatsu Shoujo Comic 1972/12.

Hagio tells the story from the point of view of the girl who becomes a bird at the end of the tale, which is a very nice touch.

2. Mizuno Hideko – Cendrillon (サンドリヨン)

Adapted from Grimm Brothers' Cinderella, and first published in LaLa 1977/9 & 11.

With Mizuno's exquisite art, this Cinderella adaptation is the perfect fairy tale. On the first and last pages Hideko-tan breaks the fourth wall to give us information about the original work, and going "bruh, these are supposed to be tales for kids but some brutal stuff goes on in them. What's with all the mutilations and eye-gouging?!" It's adorable!

3. Maki Miyako – Hanakagerou (花陽炎)

Adapted from Murasaki Shikibu's The Tale of Genji, and first published in Big Comic for Lady 1987/2.

This excerpt is taken from vol. 2 of Maki's Genji Monogatari adaptation, and depicts a scene that doesn't exist in the original work: Hikaru meeting Lady Fujitsubo for the first time. I must say that all that Genji Monogatari Japanese went over my head ;_;

4. Miuchi Suzue – Takekurabe (たけくらべ)

Adapted From Higuchi Ichiyou's Takekurabe, and first published in Hana to Yume 1977/1 & 2. This story is actually part of Miuchi's Glass Mask. In the manga, it was acted in the third act, “Kaze no Naka wo Iku.” Compiled in vol.s 3-4 Hana to Yume comics version, vol.s 2-3 of Hakusensha Bunko, and vol.s 3-4 of the digital ebook.

Conveying the subtleties of the character through the way Ayumi and Maya acts is quite ingenious. We get adaptation-ception with this one, and I loved it. It really made me want to read the book to get to know Midori better.

5. Sakata Keiko – Okisaki to Nemuri Hime (お妃と眠り姫)

Adapted from Charles Perrault's Sleeping Beauty, and first published in Comic Tom 1989/1.

I haven't read Sakata's works, but she always strikes me as being the odd one in the shoujo scene. And this manga just strengthened my conviction. Her adaptation of Sleeping Beauty focuses on the ogre mother of the Prince, and her loneliness. Which is another ingenious way of going about adapting a fairy tale from a completely point of view. Her funny-looking art and humor adds to it.

6. Fumizuki Kyouko – Shiroki Mori no Chi ni (白き森の地に)

You get this color image I found online, because scanning this gorgeous double spread was impossible. And it's in grayscale in the book.

Adapted from Louis Hémon's Maria Chapdelaine, and first published in Bessatsu Shoujo Friend 1977/3.

I had no idea about this story, but wow, Hémon sure lived a life... This story that takes place in Canada feels really comforting. I'm surprised this didn't get an anime adaptation. Sure, it's not long enough for one, but it'd make a perfect comfort shoujo. "Comfort shoujo" as in people dying and the protagonist growing up after being hit by misery and having to make life-altering choices. I can see why this was popular in Japan.

7. Yamagishi Ryouko – Rapunzel Rapunzel (ラプンツェル・ラプンツェル)

Feast your eyes on this color Rapunzel illustration from the Yamagishi artbook I have.

Adapted from Grimm Brothers's Rapunzel, and first published in Bessatsu Shoujo Friend 1974/6.

Queen Yamagishi does not disappoint: We go full psychological and read about how parents ruin childrens' lives by projecting their shortcomings in life onto them, and their twisted sense of "love" can be worse than a sorceress's curse. Prince charming therapy time, baby!

8. Sato Shio – Bijo to Yajuu (美女と野獣)

Adapted from Madame de Beumont's Beauty and the Beast, and first published in Papermoon Shoujo Manga Fantasy Shoujo Manga – 1001 Nights (5.11.1980).

This short yet poignant adaptation really brings out the love in the story. She distilled the tale, and left what touches your heart the most in these 8 pages.

This work was also originally published in full color, and it's so gorgeous that I bought the book it was first published in. I hope to have it within the month.

So yeah, if you need to gift something to your old-shoujo loving friend, you now know what to get :)

Memories can be either precious or haunting. Depending on the person and circumstances. Some people prefer to lose them, some desire to keep every single fragment. But some are a bit unfortunate, they simply forget. Not like it's their choice, just bad luck.

“Phew, thank you so much lo’ak” norm sighs in relief. Lo’ak climbs down as he just cleared out the vents. Maintaining the airways is a high task that cannot be overlooked if they want to breathe properly. 

“Anytime, uncle” lo’ak replies. 

Norm goes to a monitor to check the air quality that is now flowing. 

“All systems are good. Perfect” 

Satisfied with the current status, they both relax as they feel the cool air enter the room. 

“How are the coolers holding? I'm surprised it's still holding up all these years?” Lo’ak asks curiously. Coolers in the hellsgate has been shut down in certain areas since they are not in use. It does help to save energy and make it easier to take care of the main cooler tanks. 

“So far so good I guess. Zerok takes care of them, "Norm replies. 

“Huh!? Who said my name!? Was it you glob…?” 

Speak of the devil. Or in this case, speak of the ice queen, since now the room felt extra chilly the second she entered. 

“Dad?” lo’ak walks up to his dad with something on his mind. 

“What's up?” Jake replies. 

Lo’ak takes a moment before asking his question, “why is zerok so……odd?”. Didn't want to say weird as it might come off mean when it's not his intention. 

Jake takes a moment, scratching his head, “I honestly don't know. She was already like that when I arrived here. To be honest, she is kind of ok with me. Though she does things that are a bit out of hand…like calling everyone gunter. I have no idea why. I used to remind her, norm, max, everyone tries to remind her of our names. On lucky days she will call anyone by their names, but on not so lucky days, everyone is gunter”

Jake remembers on his first day at the hellsgate. During the briefing, even old quaritch had to warn everyone.

 “And if an old weird lady calls you gunter, just roll with it. Also keep your doors locked at night, we dont need another heart attack” 

“She is harmless and all good” 

“So then why does everyone keep their distance?” lo’ak asks another question. 

“Well, naturally humans dont always feel comfortable around odd things or others displaying odd behaviors. Their senses tell them to back away as possible danger. Or other times they just simple dont like to be near odd people” 

Lo’ak thought of that over and over. He is odd himself, yet people like to be near him. Maybe zerok is a different kind of odd?

“BOOMBAKLAAAAAAAA~!!”

Zerok jumped from the third floor all the way down to the first floor, for some unknown reason.

Norm just shivered everytime he sees her. Quite literally. Its like her presence brings coldness to the air, in times that are not needed.

“Ugh, its that old hag again…” one of the scientists mutters, ready to boil some warm water.

“I'm surprised she didn't go back like everyone else. We are better off without her” another says. But norm just looks at zerok, yeah she is so weird in so many ways but really isn't harming anyone.

“Why the need to say that?” norm asks one of the other guys.

“Come on norm, we already have spider to deal with. With her around making a mess and shit, its like having a toddler in a old persons body”

“Hey now that aint-”

“GUNTER! LOOK THIS WAY!” zerok shouted. Almost instinctively, everyone turned to see a flash of white light. She took a photo, it seems. Another thing norm doesn't understand, zerok has a niche for photography it seems, but it seems in the most random moments. Never giving anyone a moment to prepare.

“Thanks!” and she runs away, the coldness leaves with her.

Tsireya was enjoying the lake not too far from the omatikaya village. The water feeling amazing, a bit warm but amazing nonetheless. Being away from water has made her and her family feed odd. The need to be one with the element is a must. 

But as she takes in the relaxing silence, all of a sudden the water felt….cooler? 

Stopping midway of her swim, she looks around and sees an elderly human. Her hands in the edge of the lake dipping into the water. What was she doing? 

“Hi, I thought you wanted it cold. Alright bye!!!” and the odd human left. 

Tsireya couldn't help but giggle, the human was odd but funny as well.

he side, trying to take in this new update of the old woman. 

“Does she posses something to make water cold?” tsireya asks. 

Lo’ak can only shrug, “to be honest, Im not sure. Everyone keeps mentioning how the air feels colder when she is around. Cold water is news to me” 

Tsireya humms, it would be interesting if she did. 

As they walk, they saw kiri and tuk enjoying some beverages with neteyam. They walk over to see. 

“What are you guys drinking?” lo’ak asks. Tuk can only humm in happiness while neteyam offers him a bowl. 

“Try it” he says. Lo’ak looks at it, was thick in paste but looks smooth as the same time, taking a sip he knew instantly it was banana, but it was mushed and cold? He offers it to tsireya who seems to like it. 

“Its good” she compliments. 

“Zerok made it for us, don't know how but its really really good. She called it a smoothie” neteyam says. 

“Speaking of zerok, has she dont anything weird around you guys? Or seen her doing anything out of the ordinary?” lo’a asks his siblings as he and tsireya sits with them. The other siblings look at each other and try to recall anything. 

“Anything and everything she does is out of the ordinary brother, even for human customs” kiri points. Which is technically true. 

“I like her, she is funny and makes the silliest dance moves” tuk points out. Remembering the few times zerok shows off her silly dances to her. 

“Norm says not everyone likes her, that she is too much to handle” neteyam adds in. Not always he goes to the lab, but when he does, a whisper catches his attention. How many talke so mean behind the old lady. 

“Best to ask spider, he should know a thing or two” 

“She is not normal” spider says bluntly. 

Everyone groaned at his answer, “we already know that cuz” lo’ak mutters. 

Spider shook his head, ��no, I mean it literally. She is not normal, like by any human standards or human capabilities” he rephrases. Now this many many head turns. 

“What do you mean by that?” kiri wonders. 

“Best she shows you, come on” 

Spider leads them through a couple of halls, turning left and right. This was tsrieya’s first time seeing human structures, so she seeks comfort by holding lo’ak’s hand. 

Spider leads them all the way down to the air generators. Lo’ak remembers norm telling him how they often need to be maintained, and that zerok is the only one who does it. They all see that the metal parts are  turning slightly red, the temperature growing warm by the second. Spider smiles at this. 

“Perfect! Its getting warm” he says. 

“How is that good? Feels like we are near a fire” 

Spider says nothing more but pushes a button on a nearby wall. In a matter of a few seconds, zerok appears from somewhere. 

“Hi gunter!” she greets. Spider huffs, shaking his head lightly, “its spider, zerok. Always has been”. Reminding her for the millionth time. 

“Ok gunter” she nods. 

Quickly she took notice of the air generators heating up. 

“Oh my gloooooooob! Why didn't you tell me spunter!? This should have been taken care of since 5 megalions ago!” she cries out. 

“What is a…..megalion…?” tsireya whispers. Lo’ak shrugs, “I have no idea”. 

Zerok observes the generator and touches the hottest spot, her hand sizzling from contact. 

“Let it gooooooo!! Let it goooooooo!! Can't hold it back anymooooooooooore~!!” she sings out. And as if by odds, ice spewed out from her hands. Layers of ice began to cool off the hot spots, the air no longer hot. The generator was back to being normal. 

“YAHOOOOOO~!!” going a bit nuts, zerok then creates snow all over the room, to keep the generator cold longer. The kids were in absolute awe. They have never seen anything like this before! 

“Woa!! This is amazing!” tuk cheers, already collecting a bit of snow from the floor. 

“Huh?? Do you guys work here too??” zerok stopped what she was doing to just now notice the tall teens. 

“Uuuuuuuuhhhhh…….yes?” kiri answers awkwardly. 

“Cool!” 

“HUH?! Over 300 years old!?” lo’ak shouts in disbelief. 

After witnessing what zerok’s ice abilities, the kids simply wanted to know more. Apparently she is more than just a wacky old lady with a liking to the gunter name. She is also immortal. 

“Yes” zerok answers as she adds snowflakes to tuk’s ice crown. 

“H-how…?” tsireya’s was also trying to process this information. Immortality is simply impossible. 

“I dunno, its been so long I cant remember. But my only lead, is a prince” zerok answers honestly. 

“If I try to remember, my head begins to hurt, like a loooooooooot. So I dont remember, I forget easily” 

Neteyam noticed her polaroid camera at her side. 

“Is that why you take pictures? To remember” he questions. 

“Yuppa doozers! I have so many pictures, I even forget I took them in the first place! Ok, all done sweetie” 

Tuk stands up and admires her ice crown. Giggling, she prances around, loving how pretty it is while also cooling her head. Zerok grabs her camera and takes a picture of tuk. Her smile is now forever preserved. 

“So when is your birthday?” kiri asks. 

Zerok turns to her curiously, “what birthday?” 

“You know, your birthday, to keep track of how old you are…?” 

Zerok plays with her camera before looking up in a daze, “dang, I can go for have some bacon pancakes…” 

“Zerok? Your birthday…?” kiri tries to remind her. 

“What birthday?” zerok asks again, “I dont have a birthday! I dont even know how old I am!” 

Kiri quietly gave up, seems this human is just simply full of surprises. Even some zerok isnt aware of. 

Night feel, and everyone in the base was heading to bed. Zerok was just putting away her camera while making sure her pillows were extra crunchy with frost. 

“Dabadoo, dadaboo, yada yada, dooooooo~!!” she sings a random melody. Going back and forth to put away things, she stops to notice something. 

“Oh what a pretty blue girl, wonder where she got that crown” she says to herself. Seeing a picture of a na’vi child wearing a pretty ice grown. Around that photo were other na’vi kids. 

“Alright, all set for some sleeps! Tomorrow I should check on spunter, I wonder if he ate anything this month. I know! Ice, who doesnt love ice” 

Climbing onto her bed, zerok gets into a comfy position and lets sleep take over. While her eyes remained wide open, snoring away into the dark abyss that is called her inner mind.

con cryptids: a post

So, I tabled at a con this weekend and had a grand time. However, cons are ripe with cryptids, situations and events. I thought it'd be a good idea to compile some of them, because it's been quite the eventful one. Here's some of the encounters:

That one girl who asked me if I had HP merch. The excess of pride flags on my booth did not deter her, I guess.

The few people that were on my booth when that happened, also wrapped in pride flags, who did a collective grimace at the girl when she left.

Girl who lost her phone in the bathroom- I noticed it right away when entering after her, but she had already vanished the second after. I kinda awkwardly waited on the bathroom because I knew she'd notice at some point, and few minutes later, she came back crying and sobbing. She hugged me when I told her I found her phone and had been waiting for her.

This group of women in her 40s that all dressed up as the jawa (is that how it's spelled?) from Star Wars. They had little ID cards with their names, which were all puns. They had a TTRPG group together where they passed the DM torch with every session. Honestly, I look up to them

This person in an Ao Oni cosplay that consisted of a bright purple bodysuit and a very well crafted, unsettling-as-hell mask. They mostly just stood in places and stared at people without saying anything.

The people who had a sticker for Eileen (the Bloodborne plague doctor lady) to gift me when they saw me on my plague doc cosplay

This one... Very little girl. 6-7yo? She came to my booth and looked at my (many) stickers. She really liked the warlock one (it's a d20 with "warlock" written on it, with few eyes, demonic wings and a black-purple-red scheme). She did have no idea on what a warlock was, nor what was dnd, but she liked the design and asked her dad to buy it in sticker form. He thought he wanted the holographic one, and gave her money for that- But she wanted the plain one. So she bought a second sticker. She was undecided on which, and I suggested a cute little witchy black cat, since it's very popular with kids. Instead, she pointed at my Mothman sticker and went "I want this one, it scares me!"

About 10ish minutes later, this girl returned to my booth. She wanted the same warlock sticker, but now in holographic and pin format. Her dad didn't know why, but he just gave her money for them anyways.

And about half an hour later, she came back once again. This time, she... wanted the warlock charm. Which her dad was more than happy to get for her.

The endless amount of kids that come to my booth, point at my thicc yellow among us sticker, and go "omg!!! he's got a butt!!!!!!!!!!!"

The way my OFF print almost sold out this year. I never thought that the one print I made of an indie RPG maker game made by some Belgian dude 20 years ago would be my 2025 hit, but it sure was. The people who bought it were surprised by the fact I was surprised about people recognizing it. It was my most sold print, beating stuff like my Hollow Knight one by a massive mile.

People bought a bunch of my Blasphemous print too. They also all commented on names for the Penitent One that they used. Most of them don't translate well to English, but they ranged from "The Drama Guy", "The Penetrating One", or even better, "Pepe". We also joked a bunch about leaving cookies out for the Penitent One, since it's the Holy Week in Spain.

This one guy that already came to my booth last year who tried to get me to join his cult. He completely forgot he also tried that last year, for the record.

This one person who, talking about TTRPG stuff, mentioned that he played a dual character once. One of them was a bear, I think a barbarian. The other one was a woodpecker, who was an artificer. One of them played the banjo. The other one played the kazoo.

He also was currently playing a character that was a "fire baboon monk who wanted to kill god"

The endless amount of people who bought my Hornet-with-a-Clown-Wig sticker, who were very sure that "nah, Silksong AINT coming out, that was bait!"

Every single year, I manage to sell one (1) genderfluid sticker. This has remained true once again. There's always a moment of connection between me and the one designated genderfluid person who can only find a little relevant sticker on a singular booth in the entire con.

I had quite few more fun encounters, but these were kinda the main ones. All in all, a fun time- And a lot of fun oddballs to meet!

Kinda just wanted to let everyone know that I am still alive. Recording my album is eating my time right now, and so is writing a story. The album is shaping up well, but no idea when it'll be done. I want it to be, well, not perfect per se, but as good as I can make it. My producer/engineer/session musician is of the same mind, so it's taking more time than I ever would have imagined.

On the story front, I was thinking about doing a GO fanfic, but decided against it. Can't make money off a fanfic. Probably can't make money off an original work either, but at least there's a chance there. Which brings me to a point I've been thinking about - namely, just how much ridiculously brilliant fanfic there is out there that the author will never see anything but kudos for! Fanfic writers - maybe you should try changing the names, and some of the descriptions of the characters and try to market your books! You're brilliant writers, and you could be out there making some dosh for your work! I know I'd buy at least two copies of each of the stories I'm thinking about - one in hard cover for collection purposes, and one in paperback for reading to bits purposes.

Of course, I'm really the last person to tell you what to do, but I know I've read some stuff where the characterizations have strayed so far from the original source material (I'm looking exclusively at GO stuff, but I'm sure it's true for other fandoms), that we're reading something completely new anyway. Why not try to make a go of it? That's what I'm doing. I took a look at the idea I had for a fanfic, and asked myself, 'self, why couldn't this just be two other people entirely? Why do I have to write about characters we already know? Why not get original with it?'

So, that's what I'm doing. NG and Sir Terry Pratchett don't own the idea of angels or demons, gay love is ubiquitous, and I can write something new. And I'm doing it. Have no idea when I'll be done, I know it will be long, and I'm just having a blast. I can definitely thank Sir Terry for the inspiration, but this will be original work! I won't give away what it's about, but it does involve angels (no demons, save for the Original Demon), and a lot about finding out who we are, and what that means. I'm finally really excited about something!

Also, working on a poetry book - I'm going to compile all of my poetry in one place, and call it 'The Book Of Love', inspired by the lyrics of that song by The Magnetic Zeros. It'll be broken into sections suggested by the lyrics of the song. One thing I'd be looking for here is help from artists - I would LOVE to have any artists who are interested draw pictures inspired by the poetry. If that's anyone of you, DM me, and we can have a natter about it! The main idea would be to try to get published, and if that actually happens (I won't hold my breath, but I will certainly trot the book around to publishing houses), then artists would be fully credited and compensated however we could work that out. I have no idea how any of that works, but this, for me, would be more of a labour of love than a money-making enterprise, so I'm not looking to be greedy and give nothing to anyone who would like to contribute if any money is made. Who knows, maybe it could take off! And just a btw, I'm fully 2SLGBTQIA++ friendly, so artworks could totally involve aspects of the community - whatever you see fit. Most of my poetry is completely non-gendered, so as to be relatable to anyone at any time, so it's fully open to some cool interpretation.

Anyone can also feel free to tell me to get stuffed if this all sounds ridiculous to you - I'm still going to do what I'm doing.

Congrats on the bachelor’s. Ang good manuscripts about justice, torture and execution? Its for my end of studies project lol

sure! it kind of depends on what you're actually looking for though. i could point you to hundreds of manuscripts that portray gory martyrdoms, torture in hell, fictional executions etc. in some shape or form (see my latest compilation of isaiah being sawn in half!). those aren't necessarily indicative of real-world practices/norms of justice though, if that's what you're interested in. anyways, here's some stuff i had to think of that might or might not be relevant to your question. keep in mind i'm not an expert on the contents of these manuscripts, i just collect images. :)

1.) the livre de la vigne nostre seigneur (france, 1450–70) is, imo, the place to go if you're looking for cool depictions of hell, demons torturing sinners etc... as for real-world methods of execution, scenes like the one on fol. 30r might be somewhat insightful (christians being persecuted and tortured by the antichrist in various ways):

2.) as for justice, i had to think of the sachsenspiegel, which "is one of the most important law books and custumals compiled during the holy roman empire" (wikipedia). here are some impression from a 14th c. edition, one of the first/original ones. every page is composed of the legal text on one side, and matching illustrations on the other. so, for example: at the bottom of the first image here (12v), there's an illustration for the law that said that pregnant women should only be penalized/tortured in a relatively mild way (penalties "on the skin and hair"):

3.) here's another manuscript that contains illustrations of henchmen of the antichrist getting creative with torturing people (bavaria, c. 1440):

4.) now this one's niche, but i personally really really love this 15th century (bavarian) series of images depicting ways in which various sinners/sins receive different eternal punishments in hell. each miniature is dedicated to a different cardinal sin or violation of one of the ten commandments. to give you an impression, here's a selection of sins and their punishments:

regarding medieval ideas of justice, i feel like this series illustrates the same concept that can be found in dante's divine comedy: "the punishment of souls by a process either resembling or contrasting with the sin itself" (see contrapasso).

I started writing a truly unholy amount of (unposted) stobotnik fic in the last 2 months but my hyperfixated brain badly, BADLY needed a complete beginning to end anthology spanning from their first meeting to post-sonic-3-fix-it... HOWEVER I could not even begin to touch their first meeting/early days because you wrote it so perfectly that it felt like an honest to god crime.

With that said, for my own personal collection I have a compiled document that includes a chunk of Coffee & Mayhem plus my own adaption of their time together before sonic 1 events (heavy focus on their time doing fieldwork together for GUN, still ace-spec Robotnik but more nsfw with a lot of post-injury bed sharing, GUN is the real enemy all along, painfully self indulgent, etc etc...)

All that just to say I made the mistake of checking the word count on it and it's sitting at like 800,000 words 😵‍💫💀 might eventually get around to posting my writings (which I never would've thought to do without being introduced to this lovely community by your works!!), but coffee & mayhem is 1000% cannon to me in truly any timeline ✨ thank you for being so inspiring and giving us all the good stuff 🥹🫶

once upon a time, over 10 years ago, just a few months after the announcement that Motorcity was officially canceled...the creators of the show took pity on their heartbroken fandom and gave us several glimpses of what season 2 might have been like. they saw how much we loved Motorcity and gave us every scrap of info they could at the time, so that we could use those scraps to imagine our own personal "Season 2" - whether it continue on in our fics, our fanart, or simply our own heads.

Capri Chilton - Mike Chilton's long lost big sister! I can't remember where or when it was first revealed that they were considering giving Mike a secret older sister, and I haven't been able to track down the origin. that being said, when it was revealed, the fandom loved the idea so much that they begged the creators to make it canon. Chris P busted out the "magical canon stick", gave us this delightful concept sketch, and "Capri Chilton" was born!

Motorcity Unaired Pilot - 2009 Disney Version Originally aired during Comic Con 2012, the pilot was recorded and then posted on YouTube by Allison Simmons in July of 2012, later being privatized in 2022. The video was re uploaded onto VKVideo 22 days after its original posting to YouTube and is still currently available to watch online. (x)

Ahhh Alright I will admit it! I haven't read any Superman comics yet.

I'm taking this as a cry for help, I see you friend and I'm giving you my hand, it's always time to start reading Supes. I'm not good giving recommendations because everyone enjoys different things, but there are a few comics that come to my mind when talking about good Superman starting points. I'll try to be super brief.

Golden Age

To answer your other question, you don't have to start from the very beginning, but you totally can start from there if you so desire. Golden age Superman got me into pre-code comics, they are, in my biased opinion, one of the best golden age comic series, the stories hold up incredibly well for their age. This Superman is still developing, a lot will change yet, but the core traits of what makes him special are already there: the compassion, the defense of the oppressed, the double identity, the importance of his journalism career and Lois Lane. The main villains of these early stories are structural oppression, the government and mobsters - so yeah, I'm a big fan. He is wild and sometime scary, but always kind.

Now for something completely different (modern compilations)

American Alien: all issues are written by the same guy with beautiful art by different and talented artists, this book compiles loosely interconnected stories centered around different periods of Clark's early life, one of my favorite Superman books, this one presents several aspects of his lore in a light but engaging way, everyone is here, Lobo is here, Batman, young Dick Grayson, Lex Luthor, Abin Sur (!)

Red and Blue: every story here has a different writer and artist, the collection highlights the idealistic and emotionally moving traits that are essential to Superman, short stories representing why this character is so dear to us

Miniseries

For all seasons: a moving character study focusing on Clark as a person, it's a beautiful book if you like Tim Sale's style, with gorgeous coloring by a team of people. The story is simple and grounded, narrated by different important characters of Clark's life, warm and melancholic, less action focused and more reflective. This has the feel of an old-school Superman, but still soft and emotional

Birthright: a retelling of Superman's origin story, this time while the emotional core of the character is there in the importance of Clark's family and friends there's a more thrilling plot. Character dynamics are the best thing here and when this is combined with the respect Waid has for this character and his ability to write fun moments the result is a really nice lively read

Recent runs

Patrick Gleason / Peter J. Tomasi (2016-2018): post-New 52 Superman, family man Clark, married with Lois and with a kid Jon to take care of, I love this era for how action packed, but still warm it is. It showcases a different Superman dynamic, a more intimate and accessible take on the character while he lives lots of different adventures with his family, you don't need to have read the New 52 stuff, just jump on this and you're good to go

Phillip Kennedy Johnson (Warwolrd Saga): another stellar and very recent run that you can jump in knowing that now Clark and Lois son is grown up and Clark is travelling to Warworld, planet of Mongul, to rescue the enslaved people he keeps there. This is a long arc and Superman is depowered for most of it, while there's not a lot of specific Superman lore regarding his origins, recurring characters and everyday life, this is a completely independent adventure that recontextualizes the core ideas of what makes Superman Superman. It's such a different scenario that you can read it without worrying about being familiarized with the characters and settings, it's all new, just enjoy the jouney, the fantastic art and the beefcake of gladiator shirtless Kal-el

This is all for now, I have lots of other Superman comics I'd like to put here, but they can be hard to navigate (like most of the arcs on the triangle era and post-John Byrne Superman, or bronze age stories that haven't been collected), or they have very specific tones that might be an acquired taste (like silver age comics, and more bronze age stuff). This is also a very personal selection, there are other good Superman comics out there, but these are my choices. I really hope you enjoy it if you decide to read any of them. MAJOR update

So I don't know if anyone else even cares about this stuff, but I made some huge progress with tagging/retagging things here. For some time I haven't been tagging any posts at all lacking motivation because, seriously, does anyone even look at tags these days?

Still, my love for this ship keeps me going. Maker, I'd forgotten how therapeutic the process is. For a few days I almost stopped dwelling on my own personal issues.

Allow me to remind y'all that this blog has a list of TAGS, a rather extensive one. I shudder to think how much time I spent compiling it all, but it does make me happier somehow

We have an impressive collection of fanart, so many comic bits they had to be separated into their own category to make it possible to navigate through all the artwork, writings that I don't think can be found anywhere else. In the beginning this fandom also used to produce a lot of memes and jokes, not so much of it now, but we don't forget our history! There is so much to uncover and rediscover.

I guess that canoodling/hugging/cuddling/snuggling tags are still a mess (always have been) despite my best efforts, but I genuinely tried to make it make sense somewhat. Having 8000+ pieces of art for your ship gets you there. Hard to believe it used to be almost nonexisistent in the beginning. It was so easy to navigate in 2012...

I didn't even try to sort out the comics, and fiction is not tagged either, except for the most basic basics.

Well, if anyone has any better ideas/suggestions don't be shy about @ ing me. Hell, if you can think of any new tags worth adding, let me know. And if you could reply to the relevant posts with it, it'd be fantastic.

ok first of all because of jason being like, raised by wolves, he has a hard time navigating the massive variety of cultures he's introduced to when he first leaves camp jupiter, so all of his friends give him random crash courses about stuff like punk culture (percy particularly loves to rant about music to him and jason is more than willing to listen) as well as just the little nuances of the way they were raised (everyone has to put in a collective effort to teach jason to start taking his shoes off when he comes inside, and then he stops wearing shoes entirely because he hates them anyway (it's his wolf swag))

piper and percy always end up arguing over the aux cord when they're driving together because while they both share some music artists that they enjoy they always end up in blowout fights over which song is better, who's better in the genre, etc, etc. it's all in good fun though and they actually have a shared spotify playlist that they both sporadically add to. it's the principal of the thing!!! and it always stimulates interesting discussion

I JUST WANT MORE TEXAN LEO STUFF!!! especially since he's both from houston and latino, it has sooo much potential. stuff like him and hazel discussing food and him having slightly different manners of speech that end up rubbing off on all his friends!!! pleaseeeeee

percy and her punk diy habits are a massive source of bonding, everyone always brings their damaged clothes to her and she teaches them a bit about mending, and at this point because of all of her info dumps all of their friend have at least half a foot in punk culture, whcih they are so incredibly proud of

they would all DEFINITELY start picking up stuff from different languages after hanging around each other for long enough. piper starts swearing in italian because she's been hanging out with nico too much, and percy begins to let random bits of 1940s slang slip into her speech because of hazel, and jason (who i like to imagine is like a language prodigy along with leo) begins learning conversational chinese and mexican spanish and none of the friend groups conversations are ever only english

hazel and leo are always both very vehement about what figure of speech is better, stuff like random little idioms, and they talk about phrases they remember from their childhood for AGES when they first met, and it's just become a Thing for them. they ask people about the originals of their culture references, and have a little book they've compiled about the variety of speech at chb and camp jupiter

the aphrodite cabin is like THE place to talk about fashion, obviously, but that includes way more than people think it does. they have so many goth outfits, and scene jewellery, and drew loves to discuss different aesthetics and subcultures with people and always ends up gifting everyone random specialised fashion items for birthdays. i just think drew would love to geek out about subcultures in general, i just know she is the QUEEN of this kind of stuff (ok wait id love to explore the idea of this being her special interest more....)

hazel loves borrowing clothes from percy (they are siblings your honour!!) even though they often clash with her own outfits, but she really doesn't care because if it looks cute than it's cute!!! so what if people don't think it's goth or works well with what she's wearing

piper hosts a weekly movie night at camp (she is 100% super into like all types of films, my cinephile queen) which she lets people put little suggestions in, and after a couple of weeks they're basically always non english or super campy or stuff that her friends were obsessed with growing up and it kind of become a representation of her friend group as a whole, i just love it when peoples lives and personalities are reflected in the media they consume

that's all the random little things i have in my head rn, but this is a concept i wanna explore wayyyy more, because people just genuinely don't consider this kind of stuff in the pjo fandom enough imo!!!! OUAGHHH ANYWAY THANK YOU FOR ASKING this took me ages because i was geeking out SO HARD

like of people doing dumb stuff yet it's absolutely hilarious, the ones that (usually) are a little bit reckless?

say y/n befriended the majority, if not all, of the underground. the way that the monsters know of y/n is usually laidback, respectful. so they're cool, calm, and collected, if you will. the calm before the storm, even. hasn't caused any trouble, is a delight to be around.

also say that they have their own undernet account, courtesy of the royal scientist, alphys. on their account, they friended their other friends; alphys, sans, papyrus, undyne, napstablook, mettaton, even muffet and grillby, as well as the majority of snowdin and such. maybe here, y/n convinced alphys, after a bit of explanations, some negotiations here and there, to update the undernet to include stories (yk like insta stories, assuming they did not have that feature), or not, doesn't really matter, normal posts and stories would give the same result possibly

in this case, i like to think of y/n growing a little antsy of the lack of action and bafoonery that they could do.

so, they begin soft-launching their usual antics, stuff that they did before falling to the underground. not saying that they MISS the surface, other than the night sky, sunrises and sunsets. y/n is quite fond of the small life they had made for themselves in the underground, and wouldn't really trade it for the world. but anyway,

they begin posting on their undernet account. some would describe them as... odd maybe, due to the nature of the photos posted. they start off small, photos of them in shopping carts in the middle of a random parking lot. a picture of a traffic cone with a... firework next to it? that raised a little bit of eyebrows, but it is still rather tame. you guys know those abandoned tunnels that have graffiti and were used for raves nd such? yeah there's a photo of y/n in one of them. maybe with some stupid ass captions like "alright who let grandma out the nursing home" or like something idiotically cryptic like "the truth comes out soon." now THAT has heads turning. replies start spilling in like

"grandma????????" "what truth???" "what are u planning??????" these poor citizens don't know what they're getting into

who knows, maybe y/n got a little ahead of themselves because of impatience. so then they just drop the videos of them doing dumb stuff, because "life's just too short. let's play spin the bottle but whoever the bottle sets on, gets to set off a firework and throw it at their friends who are running away from the one who got picked."

yes, that's the video i saw that generated this idea.

so y/n is basically lore dropping on their unsuspecting monster friends, who are either laughing it up, or very concerned for their good friend's wellbeing (mental and physical) the videos range from that firework fiasco, to other shit like running into a stop sign with their face, racing in shopping carts, just overall some good ol' tomfoolery with their friends above ground. yeah y/n misses their friends dearly, but there wasn't much they could do. they caption the posts with "i would like for everyone to witness the person that i was before i fell down here lol. im aching for shenanigans."

the y/n the monsters are now viewing in the posts, are practically a complete 180 from the y/n they encounter on a day-to-day basis. unfathomable, but the proof is in the pudding once they witness whatever y/n has in store. the next post is actually a rather cool photo. a 0.5 pic, flash on, at night, y/n sitting in a shopping cart, left leg over the side, head leaning a little to the right, shades on, blunt in hand, joint between their lips😈
