Hello! I discovered your blog relatively recently so forgive me if you’ve already done this but would you consider compiling a list of all the times crossdressing has been done in bl? Whether as a plot-device, for comedy, for serious reasons, just all the times crossdressing as a trope has appeared.

In a similar vein if you wanted to explore it I’d also be interested in the breadth of trans rep in bl/queer shows and movies in Asian media and if that ever blends into the crossdressing (maybe also drag would be interesting to throw into the mix as well?). Also just an exploration of Queer Femme characters that are not made fun of or villainized by the narrative would be cool! Basically just exploring femme queer aspects in bl in all its good, bad, and I’m sure sometimes ugly forms!

You should follow Cooheart on IG he does some fantastic gender bending and crossdressing styles. He's the fashion icon gift that keeps on giving.

Thai BL has tons of representation and use of characters/actors of Thai third gender, a lot of which is for comedy. Rarely if ever in BL more like Diary of the Tootsies. I would say my favorite and most beloved 3rd G rep is in The Sign. But that is is different than what you asked for.

One thing that pisses me off more than it should is people in fandom spaces (sometimes IRL too) not understanding unlabeled queer people.

They don't need to have a label, some people hate labels since it makes them feel constricted. Some just don't fit into any label. Some people have complex feelings that can't be explained! And some people just choose to identify solely as queer or genderqueer because they can!

I see this happen so much with characters like crona and ryuji ayukawa (examples). Why do you have to put a label on a character that clearly doesn't have one???

"They don't have a specific set of pronouns so they're trans/genderfluid!" "Wait I thought they were just a crossdresser?"

"Are they gay/lesbian, didn't they say they liked a character of the same gender" "Is this character bi/pan? I'm sure they've liked characters of different genders"

NONE NONE!! neither. They're just queer, just queer. No other label, there's no gay, lesbian, bi, pan, trans, nonbinary, or any specific labels attached to them!!!

You can headcanon anything you want even if it doesn't make sense, I won't stop you. As long as they stay in headcanons

But to try to figure out a label to a character that is heavily implied in canon to have no label or just be queer/genderqueer is just showing you have no understanding of the community

Update: It took me a bit to find a site that has this manga because MangaDex won't upload it since it already has an official translation and shit but I FUCKING FOUND IT. (Something, something, piracy is a victimless "crime")

I've read the first 3 volumes so far (that's a record pace for me, so trust me when I say is good) and I have to disclaim that while the focus of the story is the BL aspect as both main characters are crossdressing "boys" the egg vibes are very much there for both of them.

Like, the original post was about Shuumei/Mei but the other protagonist (Hanae/Hana) also has some egg vibes so I'm thinking of making a small post just to talk about them.

Either way it's good. You can decide for yourself if it's BL or they're both eggs and it's t4t or if it falls in a different category entirely but it's good.

I'm not a hundred percent know what you mean by kawaii, but I'm gonna guess like male yanderes that have more of cutsy look to them? Or something like that? I can try to give recommendations based on that.

Secret Alliance - probably the first one I think of, though it might be because the yandere mostly crossdresses and acts very cute to get the MC's love. His personality is not very cute but his appearance is, even when he's not crossdressing.

Dear My Living Dead/Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun - I'm putting these together because they're done by the same artist, but they both have a very cutsy and honestly really beautiful artstyle. Both of them have at least yandere in them, though the first one is much darker in tone than the second one.

Magical Package Lilaca/LifeLine -similarly these two are also by the same artist and also have a rather cute art style. Similar to before though, they are both darker in tone, especially the second one. The second one is also a BL, so keep that in mind.

Solipsism Reigns - in terms of art style, though that's mostly because the sprite assets are mostly of older cute anime guys. There are pretty cute moments in the game though I will say but the art style is kinda all over the place given that it's mostly asset taken.

Eat your heart Valentine!/Eat Your Heart Valentine 2 - tend to have more of a cutesy design, with a lot of pinks. Especially Allar who is completely designed around more pink and cute designs, though it can lean on the darker side depending on what you do in the game.

Too Deep In Love - Unfortunately, this specific game doesn't exist anymore, but you can watch some videos and read my summary about it. Generally pretty cute looking.

Heart Fragments - I think counts too? The yandere in this one is overall lighter than the others (mostly just clingy), but I think the art has a kind of cutesy style to it, though it depends on which art style you choose for the game.

Most of these are like cute/kawaii in appearance or general vibe, so I'm not sure if you also want cute as in personality. Hopefully though, these are some ones that will help you get started in that department.
