I made a coding infographic/slideshow for anyone getting into coding and are stuck! I'm seeing a lot of new codeblr blogs coming up recently and they're all beginners and I have been getting a lot of asks which basically all ask "I'm new to coding, how do I start?", so I decided to make this at 1am in the morning real quick! 🥲😭

Writing Notes: Emotions (Fear)

Fear is another difficult emotion to write about, because there are many different degrees and types of fear a character can feel.

Scared: Other Words to Use

HIGH: terrified, overwhelmed, panicked, petrified, alarmed, fearful MODERATE: worried, tense, dread, shaken, anxious, afraid, panicky, panicked LOW: startled, surprised, uneasy, edgy, apprehensive, hesitant, uncomfortable

Fear: Some Signs

Eyebrows may be pulled up and together

Upper eyelids may be pulled up, and lower eyelids may be tense and drawn up as well

The mouth may be stretched and drawn back, possibly exposing teeth

Vertical wrinkles may appear between the eyebrows

Fear: Some Notes

Fear is not the same as nervousness or surprise.

The expression for surprise looks different, and although nervousness is often a precursor to fear, they are not the same.

The expressions for fear and anger share a lot of similarities, including the “fight-or-flight” response. However, the context of the situation is usually enough to tip the readers off to which emotion the character is feeling.

Another way to distinguish the two is with the character’s body language. If a character is angry, they are going to move deliberately and with confidence. They will take up space and command attention with the way they move. An angry person is usually on the offensive, while a fearful person is going to be defensive. A fearful person may try to make themselves small to avoid drawing attention, or they may instinctively shrink away from whatever is frightening them.

How to learn: HTML | Resources ✨

I have come back with a new resource I've made! This time about how to learn HTML! I'm starting from the basics right now and working my way up of 'how to learn' info resources!😅

I've made a HTML resource in the past (one | two) but this one is a bit more detailed and has tips of how I studied HTML. I use HTML on the daily so though I would share my knowledge with more people. Again, just like my previous resource "Starting your coding journey", this is more targeted towards absolute beginners or for people who want to learn how to customise their Tumblr blog/Neocite! 👩🏾‍💻

• C# - spent ~1 year so far practicing, more comfortable, can build whole sites/programs with little help

• HTML & CSS - started ~5 months ago, confident in both, can style a site without help online, still much to learn

• JavaScript + Vue - Axios - can build “full stack” applications where i do both backend & frontend and host online (love JS!!)

• REST - experienced for 5 months! can build my own REST API, use someone elses with axios & test it thoughoutly with Postman (+Javascript code)

• Unit testing & UI testing - learned so many better ways to unit test & UI test more indeph

• Started leaning Git more with commands

• SQL - can manipulate simple databases and more one from scratch

& huge thanks to my sister @niyacodes for being on this journey with me 💓

++++ I went to a 5 hour exam for all these subjects (+- more) and got the highest grade possible 🥹 (i failed my first programming exam in 1st sem!!!!) ((pic is my favorite after study-snack))

i am currently studying computer engineering as my college major. i have great interest with the intersection between design and engineering.

in my free time, i love to learn (just learning in general). some of my favorite hobbies are ballet, reading books and playing video games. i also love being creative... i also really like anything related to astronomy and self-improvement.

academic interests: engineering, computer engineering, ux/ui design, human computer interaction, design, ai, robotics, astrophysics i have degrees in history (focus is on american immigrant history), visual communication design (graphic design) and liberal arts.

i don't think i'll ever stop learning.

i hope that sharing my journey would help and inspire someone out there. ♡

it's a pink calculator app because the default iOS calculator now runs ads and i'm not supporting that - plus, i like pink versions of things :P

this is my progress so far :)

got all the buttons looking pretty and listening for input, and handled the logic to distinguish between digit buttons, the decimal button, and action buttons. now i just need to implement the calculation logic!! :D

- assignments done and got an A on all of them that I've gotten back so far

- saturday night, no school or deadlines tomorrow

- giant brownie

- fun new programming project

I'm reading this book about artificial intelligence for university, and this line on how intelligence is a result of the interaction of non intelligent parts with one another is kinda motivational. If you're struggling with your studies and, like me, think you're too dumb for academia, just remember that the AI overlords who will bring apocalypse upon us once, too, started from nothing. I started the JS Functions chapter, and things are getting so much more interesting. I thought by now I would have finished all the simple function exercises that I found on W3Resources, but it seems I still have much work to do to improve my problem-solving skills.

I always try to find the answer on my own and check the solution only after I hit a wall. My approach is to start by:

Defining the task that I want to achieve.

Making a flowchart and designing the steps that the computer will perform.

And lastly, coding each step.

Even though sometimes the process can be tedious, the feeling you get after you  press enter and it runs with no issues is surreal. Is this how you all have been feeling when coding ( ⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝)
