The Impala drove down a dark road, no other cars for miles. They had just got a case two states over. They had just finished a hunt so they didn't have any time to rest. Dean is in the driver's seat, Sam in the passenger, Y/N in the back passed out. She wasn't new to the game, but it always wore her out like a newbie.
Dean went through all the channels on the radio, either they were static or they were playing some new top 40 song. He wasn't a fan of this new generation's music. He was getting annoyed, he settled on silence.
"All this new technology and they can't get better signal out here" Dean grumbled, mostly to himself.
"People don't listen to the radio anymore, Dean" Sam mumbled, fighting his sleep. He was exhausted, he got four hours of sleep in the past two days. He was always on edge, afraid something would happen when he slept.
"Shh, Y/N's sleeping"
"Must be nice" Dean said looking up at the rearview mirror. "Jesus!" He said startled.
Sam jumped, the tired leaving his body. His hand immediately reaching for his handgun, snapping his back to look in the back seat.
"Cas, you have to stop popping up out of nowhere" Dean sighed
"Sorry, I figured this was better than showing up in the middle of the road."
"I wanted to come with you guys on this hunt, I had nothing better to do" Castiel explained.
"Why didn't you just call?" Sam asked
"I uh- I lost my cellphone" He replied, he had no idea where it was. Probably some country in Europe, he's been to too many places this week.
"Whatever just give us a warning next time" Dean said
-
The four of them drove in silence for another thirty minutes. Y/N is still sound asleep. As much as Dean loved to drive, looking at a bunch of nothing is boring. He was trying to think of a game to keep him occupied, maybe like 'count how many trees you see' he probably couldn't count that high.
Checking the mirror once more, he saw a faint smile on Y/N's sleeping face. She was always a peaceful sleeper, he wondered how after all the things they had seen. How could anyone sleep after that? He was happy she could sleep, he never wanted her to know the feeling of running off adrenaline and bad coffee.
He got an idea, not his best work but he had to deal with what he had.
"Hey Cas" The angel looked up, he didn't know road trips were this boring.
"Yeah?" He answered
"Why don't you hop into Y/N's dream, see why she's got that smile on her face"
"Dean-" Sam started
"C'mon it's harmless Sammy. Just a little bit of fun" Dean said before his brother could tell him how that it was an invasion of privacy blah blah.
"I don't think that's a good Idea, Dean" Castiel didn't understand how this would be "fun" But he knew humans found entertainment in weird ways.
"Don't be a buzzkill. Just use your little angel powers and see what she's doing."
"She's probably running through a field of flowers or something"
"Fine. I'll do it, but don't ask me to do anything weird for at least a week"
"Deal, now go" Dean said, he could feel his brother's disappointed glare as Cass disappeared.
"What?" he asked
"Boundaries Dean, boundaries." Sam sighed
"Oh please it's not like Cas doesn't show up in our dreams three times a week"
Silence.
"No, he doesn't" Sam said confused
"Whatever, you know what I mean" Dean nervously squeezed the steering wheel. Oh god, do I dream about Cas? he thought.
"Right.." Sam replied giving Dean a skeptical look
-
Castiel landed on some unstable surface. Looking down at his feet, his black shoes were sinking in sand with every step. He looked around at his surrounding, he was on a beach. The sun was starting to set, the sound of waves crashing filled the air. It was so picturesque.
He could hear faint music coming from his right. Off into the distance, he could see two people standing. He figured it was Y/N, but he didn't know who the other person was. He walks closer to the pair, he noticed small candles lit around the two.
They were swaying to the tune playing from the small radio on the ground. It was one of those old love songs. It seemed whoever she was with, they were romantically involved. When he got about 6 feet away from them, he could see who the mystery person was.
It was him.
Well, his vessel.
They seemed so happy, in love with the moment. Y/N had her arms wrapped around his torso resting her head on his chest. While dream Castiel's hands were on her waist. He didn't know she felt that way about him, maybe it was just the dream.
He watched them for what felt like forever, as he took in the sight. He had a strong love for Y/N, he had trouble figuring out what kind of love. She was one of the most beautiful humans he'd ever met. She's smart, funny, caring, in his eyes she was perfect.
Though, he wasn't sure how relationships between humans and angels would be seen by the man upstairs. Honestly, he didn't care.
He guessed he had been standing there so long Y/N felt his presence. She looked over and saw him. "Castiel?" her eyes went wide.
He freaked out and didn't know what to say, he vanished out of the dream landing back in the Impala.
Shortly after, Y/N woke up from her sleep. She looked over and saw Castiel. Her hope of that meeting being a part of her dream went out the window. He saw what she was doing. She prayed to anyone who was listening that he didn't think anything of it.
"Morning sunshine" Dean said when he saw she was awake.
"How'd you sleep?" He asked, he could see she was disheveled.
"Fine" She replied, trying to keep it together
"Did you see anything in there, Cas?"
"Nope. Just like you said, fields." He came up with the lie on the spot, he didn't want to embarrass Y/N anymore.
"That's boring-"
"Hang on, you told him to go into my dream?" Annoyance in her voice
"It was just for fun Y/N, plus like he said, he didn't see anything" He said in defense.
"You son of a bitch" she said flicking his ear
"Ough!"
-
The rest of the drive was mainly silent. Y/N didn't talk to Dean much and didn't say a word to Castiel. She was so embarrassed, out of all the dreams he could've walked in on it was that one.
It had been reoccurring for months, she and Cass on a beach in each other's arms. Not one problem in the world, it was just them. Her crush grew stronger as the dream progressed. She had done so well hiding her feelings for the angel. Now all of that is gone because Dean is nosy.
They finally made it to their next case, pulling up to a motel parking lot. Sam and Dean went inside the office to get a room, leaving Cass and Y/N alone.
They stood outside the car waiting for them to get back. Needless to say, it was pretty damn awkward. The silence was killing Y/N, she spoke up.
"Thank you" she said
"What?" Castiel was confused
"Thanks for not telling them what you saw." she kept her head down
"Oh, you're welcome... I didn't think it was my place to tell them about your dream."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to invade your privacy" he felt so bad about this.
"It's alright. At least now you know." she sighed
"Know what?"
"You're gonna make me say it?" she looked up at him. He looked very confused
"That I like you, Castiel."
"Oh," he swallowed "I didn't want to assume anything, I had no idea about this"
"No one knew, I didn't want it getting in the way of the job. Plus I know there's no chance you feel the same way-"
"You're wrong" he cut her off
"Huh?"
"About how I feel, I do feel the same. I guess I've been keeping a secret too." He looked deep into her eyes to make sure she knew he was telling the truth. " There hasn't been a day that's gone by where I haven't thought about you, how kind and sweet you are. Not to mention how stunning you are."
Y/N thought she was still dreaming. She couldn't believe what he was saying, her heart started to race. She couldn't find any words, so she used her actions.
Her eyes flickered down to his lips back to his eyes, leaning in slow in case he wanted to back out. He matched her actions, leaning in connecting their lips. She runs her hand through his hair deepening the kiss.
"What the hell did we miss?" Dean's voice pulled them out of their daze, pulling apart from each other.
"Hey guys" she nervously smiled
"Hey" Dean mocked "Should we get you two lovebirds your own room?" he laughed
"Leave them alone" Sam said "c'mon rooms this way" he led the group towards the motel room
Dean walked in between Castiel and Y/N one arm on each of them pulling them in for an awkward hug.
"Isn't this great, my two best pals together. I can hear the wedding bells already!"

The thing about season 8 is that they were clearly trying to make Destiel happen. There is no other way to take in the events of that ENTIRE season without going- oh yeah Dean is queer and also pining for the angel. The CW clearly did not like that and shot that storyline down, but COME ON…
- Dean spent a year in Purgatory by CHOICE bc he wouldn’t leave Cas
- love triangles! Dean/Benny/Cas vs Sam/Amelia/her husband
- Benny saved Dean in Purgatory vs Amelia saved Sam from his grief/hunting
- Dean being a huge dick about Amelia, Sam being a huge dick about Benny
- Salmon Dean both going through a “break-up” in Larp after they chose to stick together rather than keep Amelia/Benny in their lives
- Literally every conversation between Dean and Benny is so sexually charged it’s stupid.
- Benny was down bad for Dean… he DIED for him when he knew he couldn’t be a part of Dean’s life topside.
- Dean was so fucked up at the thought Cas would CHOOSE to stay behind his brain altered his memory. No magic here, folks. Just a desperate broken heart.
- After Cas ditched him, again, Dean was so eager to do the trials so he could die for the cause. Cas left him so he wanted to DIE. Girl, get a grip.
- He was so fucked up in fact, he turned down a one-night stand with one of the coolest and hottest women they’ve met. He really tried to say “i want to just nows not a good time” and she said “no you really dont” translation GAY.
- and then after that 1st trial Dean praying to, I’m sorry, “begging” Cas to come back.
- Then the crypt! WHAT THE FUCK.
- You are telling me we were supposed to watch brainwashed Cas kill hindreds of DEANS and accept it was a hetero connection
- BI LIGHTING
- “What broke the connection?” genuinely shut the fuck up
I could obviously go on, but my hand is tired of typing on my phone.
Oh- side note- it was only a few months after S8 finished airing that Misha tweeted “youre not crazy” so… I mean I AM. But. It was there. Textually. And they gaslit us into thinking it was subtext or fan fetishization so much that we have been feral posting for years and years, defending what we saw happening on our screens.
I hate Supernatural. It’s my favorite show.

Thinking about @luckshiptoshore and her liveblog of watching Supernatural and how much I love following it and how great it is to watch someone just fucking ENJOY the show...
And then, there were a couple of people in my Discord who love the fic, but have never watched the show, and folks in there were trying to convince them that it was worth watching (duh!) and that knowing the show by heart makes the fic so much better and like yes, again... DUH! And then I was suddenly overcome with such a feeling of ENVY for all the people who still have the chance to watch Supernatural for the first time already knowing what happens in the end.
I mean, I watched 14 years of it in real time (after downloading and bingeing season 1) and at least I was clever enough not to be in the fandom trenches that whole time, and just enjoyed it for what it was, but the end broke my brain, and changed the whole show for me.
Because, like, here's what happens in Supernatural by the end: Dean and Cas are in love. It was not subtle. Dean can't say it because he never has a single moment of not being up to his pretty, pretty eyeballs in dealing with the ongoing and constantly multiplying trauma of being the man his father raised him to be, and god's specialest boy to boot, but in the end, Cas finally does just fucking say it. Not only that, he waits until he can use it to save Dean, and show him once and for all in an incontrovertible, undeniable way exactly how deeply and truly loved and SEEN he is.
When you watch it knowing that, knowing that the the whole story is going to end in that stupid bunker dungeon with Cas telling Dean who he is and dying to save him, the whole thing just HITS DIFFERENT, because the Dean of season one with his outcast liminality and pretty, pretty lips is the poor, lonely, weird boy who will one day be loved like that by Castiel, an angel of the lord -- an impossible Eldritch being who learned what love and selfhood are from closely observing Dean.
The consensus amongst most Supernatural fans is that it is trashy and bad and that its all evil queerbaiting, but I would contend that it's actually deeply entertaining, culturally rich and interesting (yes, even its flaws and missteps), often impressively well-written and acted, never puts on any airs about being prestige television or high art, but still manages to be ultimately epic and somehow sublime, and that it's a queer story, about queer love saving the universe, and it is so, so worth watching.
Like, my brainworms are not 'they strung me along all that time and then never let them make out', by brainworms are 'they told us so many times and in so many big and small ways, and now I need to watch every bit of it again and again and again so I can finally REVEL IN IT (and, friends, that is the Supernatural rewatch journey: realising it was ALWAYS THERE). My brainworms aren't 'but does Dean reciprocate??' they are: 'of course he loves Cas, and of course Cas knows that Dean loves him, and the one thing Cas can't have? That's just his chance at happiness and a soft epilogue with and for Dean, because Cas, impossible, cosmic, Eldritch being Cas, traded his chance at happiness for his family's lives and sacrificed himself for love of his son and Dean, because that is what you do when you love someone, and what he has watched Dean never stop doing for even a minute of his beleaguered life.'
And then, Dean dies (yes, it's stupid), and he cannot just go to heaven, drink a beer and hang out, he needs to climb into his magic soul vehicle, hit the axis mundi and tear the universe up looking for his angel and his happy ending in The Winchesters? Fuck me.
And like, it's the most romantic, and devastating story I have ever been told? And I love it so much?

I need people to understand how S&P (standards and practices) works in television and how much influence they have over what gets to stay IN an episode of a show and how the big time network execs are the ones holding the purse strings and making final decisions on a show's content, not the writers / showrunners / creatives involved.
So many creators have shared S&P notes over the years of the wild and nonsensical things networks wanted them to omit / change / forbid. Most famously on tumblr, I've seen it so many times, is the notes from Gravity Falls. But here's a post compiling a bunch of particularly bad ones from various networks too. Do you see the things they're asking to be changed / cut ?
Now imagine, anything you want to get into your show and actually air has to get through S&P and the network execs. A lot of creators have had to resort to underhanded methods. A lot of creators have had to relegate things to subtext and innuendo and scenes that are "open to interpretation" instead of explicit in meaning. Things have had to be coded and symbolized. And they're relying on their audience to be good readers, good at media literacy, to notice and get it. This stuff isn't the ramblings of conspiracy theorists, it's the true practices creatives have had to use to be able to tell diverse stories for ages. The Hays Code is pretty well known, it exists because of censorship. It was a way to symbolize certain things and get past censors.
Queercoding, in particular, has been used for ages in both visual media and literature do signal to queer audiences that yes, this character is one of us, but no, we can't be explicit about it because TPTB won't allow it. It's a wink-wink, nudge-nudge to those in the know. It's the deliberate use of certain queer imagery / clothing / mannerisms / phrases / references to other queer media / subtle glances and lingering touches. Things that offer plausible deniability and can be explained away or go unnoticed by straight audiences to get past those network censors. But that queer viewers WILL (hopefully) pick up on.
Because, unfortunately, still to this day, a lot of antiquated network execs don't think queer narratives are profitable. They don't think they'll appeal to general audiences, because that's what matters, whatever appeals to most of the audience demographic so they can keep watching and keep making the network more money. The networks don't care about telling good stories! Most of them are old white cishet business men, not creatives. They don't care about character arcs and what will make fans happy. They don't care about storytelling. What they care about is profit and they're basing their ideas of what's profitable on what they believe is the predominate target demographic, usually white cis heterosexual audiences.
So, imagine a show that started airing in the early 2000s. Imagine a show where the two main characters are based on two characters from a famous Beat Generation novel, where one of the characters is queer! based on a real like bisexual man! The creator is aware of this, most definitely. And sure, it's 2005, there's no way they were thinking of making that explicit about Dean in the text because it just wouldn't fly back then to have a main character be queer. But! it's made subtext. And there are nods to that queerness placed in the text. Things that are open to interpretation. Things that are drenched in metaphor (looking at you 1x06 Skin "I know I'm a freak" "maybe this thing was born human but was different...hated. Until he learned to become someone else.") Things that are blink-and-you-miss-it and left to plausible deniability (things like seemingly spending an hour in the men's bathroom, or always reacting a little vulnerable and awkward when you're clocked instead of laughing it off and making a homophobic joke abt it)
And then, years later there's a ship! It's popular and at first the writers aren't really seriously thinking about it but they'll throw the fans a bone here and there. Then, some writers do get on the destiel train and start actively writing scenes for them that are suggestive. And only a fraction of what they write actually makes it into the text. So many lines left on the cutting room floor: i love past you. i forgive you i love you. i lost cas and it damn near broke me. spread cas's ashes alone. of course i wanted you to stay. if cas were here. -- etc. Everything cut was not cut by the writers! Why would a writer write something to then sabotage their own story and cut it? No, these are things that didn't make it past the network. Somewhere a note was made maybe "too gay" or "don't feed the shippers" or simply "no destiel."
So, "no destiel." That's pretty clearly the message we got from the CW for years. "No destiel. Destiel will alienate our general audience. Two of our main characters being queer? And in a relationship? No way." So what can the pro-destiel creatives involved do, if the network is saying no? What can the writers do if most of their explicit destiel (or queer dean) lines / moments are getting cut? Relegate things to subtext. Make jokes that straight people can wave off but queer people can read into. Make costuming and set design choices that the hardcore fans who are already looking will notice while the general audience and the out-of-touch network execs won't blink and eye at (I'm looking at you Jerry and your lamps and disappearing second nightstands and your gay flamingo bar!)
And then, when the audience asks, "is destiel real? is this proof of destiel?" what can the creatives do but deny? Yes, it hurts, to be told "No no I don't know what you're talking about. There's no destiel in supernatural" a la "there is no war in Ba Sing Se" but! if the network said "no destiel!" and you and your creative team have been working to keep putting destiel in the subtext of the narrative in a way that will get past censors, you can't just go "Yes, actually, all that subtext and symbolism you're picking up, yea it's because destiel is actually in the narrative."
But, there's a BIG difference between actively putting queer themes and subtext into the narrative and then saying it's not there (but it is! and the audience sees it!) versus NOT putting any queer content into the text but SAYING it is there to entice queer fans to continue watching. The latter, is textbook queerbaiting. The former? Is not. The former is the tactics so many creatives have had to use for years, decades, centuries, to get past censorship and signal to those in the know that yea, characters like you are here, they exist in this story.
Were the spn writers perfect? No, absolutely not. And I don't think every instance of queer content was a secret signal. Some stuff, depending on the writer, might've been a period-typical gay joke. These writers are flawed. But it's no secret that there were pro-destiel writers in the writing room throughout the years, and that efforts were made to make it explicitly canon (the market research!)
So no, the writers weren't ever perfect or a homogeneous entity. But they definitely were fighting an uphill battle constantly for 15 yrs against S&P and network execs with antiquated ideas of what's profitable / appealing.
Spn even called out the networks before, on the show, using a silly example of complaints abt the lighting of the show and how dark the early seasons were. Brightening the later seasons wasn't a creative choice, but a network choice. And if the networks can complain abt and change something as trivial as the lighting of a show, they definitely are having a hand in influencing the content of the show, especially queer content.
Even in s15, (seasons fifteen!!!) Misha has said he worried Castiel's confession would not air. In 2020!!! And Jensen recorded that scene on his personal phone! Why? Sure, for the memories. But also, I do not doubt for a second that part of it was for insurance, should the scene mysteriously disappear completely. We've seen the finale script. We've seen the omitted omitted omitted scenes. We all saw how they hacked the confession scene to bits. The weird cuts and close-ups. That's not the writers doing. That's likely not even the editors (willingly). That's orders from on high. All of the fuckery we saw in s15 reeks of network interference. Writers are not trying to sabotage their own stories, believe me.
Anyways, TLDR: Networks have a lot more power than many think and they get final say in what makes it to air. And for years creative teams have had to find ways to get past network censorship if they want "banned" or "unapproved" "unprofitable" "unwanted" content to make it into the show. That means relying on techniques like symbolism, subtext, and queercoding, and then shutting up about it. Denying its there, saying it's all "open to interpretation" all while they continue to put that open to interpretation content into the show. And that's not queerbaiting, as frustrating as it might be for queer audiences to be told that what they're seeing isn't there, it's still not queerbaiting. Queerbaiting is a marketing technique to draw in queer fans by baiting them with the promise of queer content and then having no queer content in said media. But if you are picking up on queer themes / subtext / symbolism / coding that is in front of your face IN the text, that's not queerbaiting. It's there, covertly, for you, because someone higher up didn't want it to be there explicitly or at all.

Never in a million years did you think you’d end up in the situation you’re in. It all started when you were out grocery shopping when you ran into Jared Padalecki. He had just given his kids back to his ex-wife when he decided to do some shopping for the week. You had the last of an item in your hand when you barrelled into him, dropping and shattering the item. He felt so bad that he offered to give you his that he grabbed.
It was like something clicked in the air because you two couldn’t get your eyes off each other. You were a stuttering mess but he was so confident in both of you that he asked you out right there and then. It all happened so quickly but when were you going to get another chance like this? You were a small-town girl who was noticed by a huge celebrity.
Of course, you said yes.
He took you on a romantic dinner date overlooking the bustling city. You’re not a talker since you like to keep to yourself, but he kept you talking all night. It’s as if you two were best friends rekindling a friendship. He made you laugh, made you feel beautiful, and was super charming. Supernatural happened to be on your “watch later” list but you’ve seen many spoilers and videos of him and Jensen.
What they said about him is true. He’s super lovable, loves hugs, can make you laugh, is dorky, and loves eating. Being with him makes you feel like you’re the only woman in the world. How can things get better than this?
He took you back to his place for some intimate drinks where his roommate and best friend, Jensen, lives. Jensen is also newly divorced but is open to looking for another relationship if not something temporary. Being in the same room as Sam and Dean Winchester was a little overwhelming but the alcohol dulled those senses so you could enjoy the evening.
Meeting Jared was like love at first sight if you’re into that sort of thing, but meeting Jensen was something completely different… something raw and vulnerable. He tugged you to him subconsciously because he made you feel alive like you could jump off a cliff and be completely fine. You’re not sure if either man felt the same as you were feeling but you weren't going to say anything to them to scare them off.
They set out some games to play while playing an irrelevant TV show in the background. It was friendly at first until the alcohol promoted Jensen to suggest a stripping game. One thing led to another, and the game was long forgotten. The only thing that mattered was the three of you at that moment.
All you could think about was Jared’s lips on your neck, his hand massaging your breast and tugging at your nipples until they were pebbled and ready, Jensen’s tongue on your pussy, and his fingers digging into your thighs. They used you like a cock slut that night but you were more than okay with it. One thing led to another and you’re now dating both of them.
It’s your first polyamorous relationship but you three make it work.
With you having a job that you can work remotely for, they’d take you whenever they had to do interviews, press junkets, and conventions. You’re not one for the spotlight so you’re content with being backstage while they take all the glory. They have yet another convention that they brought you along with, so you’re in the back room watching a video they made recently.
Jensen and Jared talked about serious issues going on in the world currently and how they would take small steps to try and eradicate some of those issues. They are part of a group that works on removing plastic from the ocean, they donate some of their time at food banks and local shelters, and they donate money to groups looking for resources to make the world a better place.
“Listen, these are real-world issues that we need to start taking seriously today. These kinds of events can affect our children and our children’s children,” Jensen says.
“Jar, Jen, dinner is ready,” your voice comes from off-camera.
Jared and Jensen look at each other and just laugh. They’ve been really careful not to give an inkling of their relationship but then things like this happen and it can’t be helped.
“We’ll be right there,” Jared clears his throat.
“We gotta go. That's our girl.”
They leave it at that, and the comment section is raving about them being in a relationship. There are a few other videos where your voice can be heard but you’re never seen. Most of the fans are happy that the boys are happy, and since it’s 2023, being in a poly relationship isn’t that unusual. All of the fans are wondering what you look like but you’re not ready to give that out just yet.
“Hey, we have to go on now,” Jensen says from the door.
You put your phone away and approach Jared with a smile. He pulls you into him and kisses you. He keeps it short and sweet but Jensen is the completely opposite. He kisses you for much longer and in a more intimate way. Jensen is a good kisser with all the practice he’s gotten on you.
“Okay, don’t suffocate her,” Jared playfully says.
“Break a leg, you two,” you grin and watch them leave.
There is a big TV in the back where you can watch what’s going on stage, and you clap when everyone else in the audience does when they walk on. This convention is going like all the others with them telling stories from set, from their lives, and fans asking all kinds of questions. There comes a time when a fan stands up and asks a question regarding you. You knew it was coming sooner or later, and you’re curious how the boys will answer it.
“When are we going to see Y/N? No pressure on you two or her, but just curious.”
“She’s a little camera shy,” Jensen chuckles. “She’s here. She’s backstage but she doesn't really like cameras.”
It’s true, you hate them. Maybe you can give them a little something instead of a full-face reveal. You walk out of the backstage room and over to the edge of the curtains so you’re still hidden from the audience. Jensen and Jared see you creeping up on the curtain, and you stick your hand out to wave at them.
“There she is,” Jared laughs.
Everyone cheers for you which brings a smile to your face. After two seconds, you run back to the room you were in, and Jensen watches you go with a smile on his face.
“We’re working on that part of her,” Jensen jokes.
Maybe one day you’ll be more open to meeting fans and taking pictures because they seem to genuinely love you already, and it’s all thanks to your boys.

Wait wait wait. Jensen picked the writer who gave Dean a lesbian best friend and made him a nerd to be the show runner for his little fixit fic show? This is amazing!
when you look at robbie's run of episodes (that he wrote specifically, not produced or was the executive story editor on), a very specific version of supernatural and dean starts to emerge and it is insanity-inducing. here's a very brief rundown of the episodes robbie wrote:
slash fiction -swayze always gets a pass -dean singing air supply -"it's like eating self-righteousness' -the creation and introduction of frank devereaux -"applications for sainthood" -dean letting sam go
time after time -"what are you gonna look up more anime or are you strictly into dick now?" -dean being a nerdy little fanboy about eliott ness (and checking out a dude in a uniform but that was probably jacting joices) -dean getting excited about dressing up in period clothing!! -understanding that rufus matters and that family isn't just blood -original sam is milf!bait (and he's into it) truther -actually writing grief in nuanced ways -dean is smart and resourceful actually! -your future is "covered in thick black ooze" (which i know is just a very lucky coincidence but i don't care!)
the girl with the dungeons and dragons tattoo -CHARLIE!!! he gave us charlie. he said "actually what if hardcore fans were cool and fun and GAY and they were dean's new best friend" -charlie/dean/security guard flirting split screen -"she's kinda like the little sister I never wanted." "how does a high-school dropout become one of the brightest minds…" -basically this entire episode is just "be gay, do crime" and i love that for me specifically
bitten -not my favorite episode but as @ilarual says "it's very fun in how it illustrates Robbie's willingness to play with form, since it's all done as found footage" -and as @doctorprofessorsong says it "has the concept of monsters aren’t always bad guys" -and apparently it contains a brokeback reference? my memory of this episode is hovering at around 1% tbh but you get it
larp and the real girl -dressing dean up in little outfits AGAIN -and he likes it!!! -and he likes being a nerd! (dean is getting into it and sam is the one who is unamused mr serious guy!!!!) -and charlie is dean's new best friend! -"belladonna" "the pornstar?" -"did you break up with someone too?" -honestly you already know all of it. this is a fan favorite for a reason. what more can i say about this episode??
goodbye stranger -yes robbie was the first writer to try to give us a destiel love confession -cas practicing killing dean over and over and over and still not being able to do it when it comes down to it -"what broke the connection?" gee i wonder -first episode writing cas and he nailed the sort of unintentional deadpan humor that makes cas so lovable ("would it kill you to watch a movie? read a book?" "a movie, no, but with a book with the proper spells—yeah, it could theoretically kill me.") -"if he's so sketchy then why are you praying to him?" -pizza man reference -"do you really think we can trust megstiel?" (we get both megstiel and jealous!dean) -dean quoting lord of the rings (because he's a nerd! and he reads!) -meg roasting the shit out of sam for the amelia stuff -etc
pac-man fever -charlie reading the carver edlund books -charlie and dean being besties/getting a montage -dean telling charlie that what happened with her parents wasn't her fault/understanding the guilt she feels -"i love you" "i know" -"what about castiel? he seems helpful, and dreamy" -again, putting dean in little outfits -charlie knows how to shoot/aim a gun
slumber party -dorothy!! -oz!!! -look, is this episode cheesy? yes. but it's fun and it's so obviously a love letter to the oz source material and i love that about robbie. he does his research and he commits
first born -cain!!!! -drowley team up!!!!! ("friends. besties, actually." im sorry but drowley means so much to me personally and this is the start of their beautiful bromance) -"this is by far the dumbest idea you've ever had." "yeah, well, it's early" -cas liked pb&js!! jelly, not jam. he found jam unsettling!! -"you have a guinea pig? where?" -"you're a terrible liar?" "that is not true. i once deceived and betrayed both you and your brother." -just. sastiel shenanigans (and hugs!) -"she only asked for one thing." "to stop" -anyway. you get it.
meta fiction -dean and cas phone call smiles!! they LIKE each other -metatron media dump -"what makes a story work? is it the plot, the characters, the text? the subtext? and who gives a story meaning? is the writer? or you?" -i think it's important to note that robbie who wrote gabriel faking his own death -cas noticing something is wrong with dean pretty much instantly and then discovering the mark of cain
fan fiction -i mean. come on. -"although we do explore the nature of destiel in act two." -"you can't spell subtext without s-e-x" -sam being such a younger brother and trolling dean about "destiel" -"BM scene" -dean "you know they're brothers, right?"-ing the w*ncest stuff but just being flustered about the destiel stuff ayyyy -dean casually referencing andrew lloyd webber -"transformative fiction" -"i want you to put as much sub into that text as you possibly can" -dean quoting rent -the samulet is back! -"i have my version, and you have yours." -"he took away our own free will" <- about john!! -THE RETURN OF CHUCK!
there's no place like home -"i forgive you dean" "yeah well i don't" "i know, kinda your move" -"you hurt my friend" -"you lied to me" "you lied to yourself. that's kinda your move." -i mean. robbie just gets it, ya know?
book of the damned -cas being a huge bitch (love that) -sam being the excessively codependent one -cas and charlie get to meet! -found family goodness if only for a little bit!!
angel heart -ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!! -"i got it at the hot topical" (and claire keeping grumpy cat) -no seriously. dean and cas went birthday present shopping together for claire and they did it at a mall -castiel feeling guilt for what he did to the novak family (and amelia recognizing that cas has changed/grown) -"you were both troubled teens. you speak her language." -"bring your daughter to work day" -"i'm saying she might be stronger on her own." which is a controversial line but i think it says something really significant about how dean feels about his childhood "in fact you're not anything to her except a constant reminder of someone that's gone." -mini golf!!!!!! dean and claire bonding!!!! -the introduction of the grigori, a class of angels which may or may not be important at some point -claire roasting the shit out of dean with "you seem pretty old" <3 -"happy birthday. don't shoot me."
baby -do i really need to explain anything about this one? -"okay first of all, never use swayze's name in vain, okay? ever." -"mistakes were made" -dean having a dream about john teaching him to drive but under normal and appropriate circumstances -werepire…. ghoulpyre… -honestly just the whole episde. you know what i'm talking about. the unique perspective. the insight into their day-to-day lives. the moments that live in between.
into the mystic -eileen! my best friend eileen! -dean x mildred otp -remembering sam's lucifer/hell trauma -the whole "follow your heart" speech -"banshees go after the vulnerable, so why'd it go after you?" -dean recognizing there's something off with cas -but really the most important thing here is EILEEN
safe house -bobby and rufus!!!! -i repeat BOBBY AND RUFUS!!!! -"were you ever nice?" "1985. worst year of my life." -robbie just really GETS that this show is more fun when it's not centered entirely on the brothers. -bobby referring to sam and dean as his boys -timey wimey shenanigans -there were some interesting implications in this episode too but i'm losing steam here so i'm gonna let you rewatch and figure it out lol
don't call me shurley -the reveal of chuck as god!!!! -bisexual chuck -dean does sam's laundry (sometimes with beer) -chuck is a shitty egotistical writer -he also plays the guitar and: "i like front row seats. you know, i figured i'd hide out in plain sight." -"i thought if i could show my sister that there was something more than just us, something better than us, then maybe she'd change. maybe she'd stop being… her. but every time I'd build a new world, she'd destroy it." -"the world would still be spinning with demon dean in it but sam couldn't have that though could he?" -"you were gonna choose amara over me."
so. yeah. jensen chose THIS GUY to helm the winchesters. bold move, sir. full respect.
also, this tweet always makes me crack up

i’m watching supernatural for the first time. i’m on season 3 right now, but i’m not that excited for castiel that comes in season 4, just mainly because misha collins gives me the ick. like calling the CW homophobic because dean and castiel didn’t get together is already weird because like why is he so hung up about it?? i know it has a lot to do with his fan base, but normal actors don’t really interact with their fans like that, like why is he leading them on for a show that ended four years ago?! also i know he’s probably done a lot of bad things but saying the f-slur when he had to clarify he’s straight is wrong. also him saying the slur in the context of gay people needing to reclaim it was so bizarre to me, like dude stop saying it?! he just gives me the ick big time with all that.
also sorry this was so long.
No need to apologize, dear one! I love getting asks or talking so fear not.
I’m excited the hear about you starting Supernatural! I loved the first three seasons. My sister and I started watching it back in the fall of 2012 when I was a senior in high school. It was so exciting and we couldn’t wait to watch as many episodes after school as we could. Anyway, the magic wore off after we got all caught up and were able to watch season 9 as it aired and I became more involved in the fandom side on tumblr… destiel was EVERYWHERE and as someone who was realizing they were a wincest shipper… that made it all that much worse.
Luckily, I have found that the Destiel screechy circle are but a VERY small minority. Thank GOD… but oh are they loud. That ties in to Misha of course. You know the signs they have in places that say stuff like “don’t feed the animals.”? Yeah, those are for people like himself who insist on baiting and egging on these mentally unwell people into believing, and filling his pockets, because it saves him the trouble of having to get a job or actually work on making changes himself.
So, the whole balls deep thing? Real bold of him to say at a convention where Jensen wasn’t present when Jensen himself, numerous times, has mentioned he does not like Destiel. Also bold of Misha seeing as he’s unemployed and the CW was the place that gave him his longest running job… that’s also called defamation and if I were the CW I would send a cease and desist letter. He’s emboldened by these people who worship the ground he walks on because they fetishize one gay ship. He takes them for the rubes they are and milks money from them by just regurgitating the same shit they pass around to each other in their little bubbles. I’m sure you’ve come across them… so I won’t even mention some of their names here as I don’t have the time or patience to deal with their lot.
Yes, bold of a man to use the word “f-g” when he had to walk back coming out as bisexual and come out as straight. He’s learned nothing. He’s also just gross, crass, and all around an unpleasant person. He knows this is his only way to stay relevant and so he’s going to milk it until it’s dry.
Fear not you are NOT the only one who can’t stand him or Castiel. Luckily, regardless of what the hellers say, he doesn’t add much to the story and his “arcs” can be completely ignored and it doesn’t take away from the story any.
Thanks for the ask! I hope you’ll send more as you continue watching the show!

Can you do a fan fic of Lesso x Reader and Lesso gets mad and because of the hole magic follows emotion she accidentally hurts the reader, you can choose how it ends. Also, sorry to hear about your cat.
Accidents happen
*Authors note~ I love this idea very much believe that magic is tied to emotion which makes accidents when someone is overwhelmed with emotion a very possible outcome*
Trigger warnings~ ?????
Prompt~ see ask^^^^^^
Tumblr media
Temper is always a scary emotion. It's the one that you feared the most, it terrified you. So knowing that magic ran through all those that attended the school which made you instantly on high alert. After all you knew first hand the damage magic could do, the pain it could cause. That's why you learned very early on how to control your emotions, to make sure you'd never become like them. Magic can be beautiful and you knew that, but you knew the dangers of it too. It's not a toy to be wielded irrationally. And really should only be used when directly needed.
You surprised yourself you found yourself draw to the Dean of Evil, normally you'd avoid her type due to fear of magic and you knew just how much of a temper the dean had. Yet you felt drawn to her, unable to avoid seeking her out in a crowded room. And oddly enough, she seemed to be struggling with the same feelings. That's what led you to being in a relationship with her. The fear of magic going. You knew she'd never intentionally hurt you.
Months went by and you were happier than ever. Leo doted on you, treated you like royalty and made sure you knew how loved you were by her. Life was good and there wasn't a single thing you'd change, thankful that you ignored your fear of magic and followed your heart that would only ever belong to Leonora.
You knew your girlfriend was stressed out, you'd heard from the amount of students saying they'd been taken to the doom room. Even the staff members were mumbling about her bad mood. You instantly knew you wanted to hold her, truly she didn't deserve to feel that way. Leonora was a really sensitive woman but she always put on a front to others, a well rehearsed routine to protect her heart. You were lucky enough to be let in to it, and you would do absolutely anything to protect it.
You knocked on her office door, before opening it quietly, "I told you to get out!" She yelled her magic hurtling toward you, immobilising you in mid air. A protective measure you knew all to well. But when it began to squeeze your throat and slam you back against the wall you felt the panic rise. Leonora hadn't even turned around she was still ranting about how she wanted everything to go perfectly and some idiot ever teacher wasn't about to go and take what's hers! And that he even had the nerve to ask of Leonora would share, just one night. No way in hell would that ever happen. You were hers. Why couldn't he leave you both alone.
As soon as she turned around to see you struggling for air with pain lingering in your eyes she immediately softened, the magic letting you go as the magic depleted. "Oh my god! Dove! I'm so sorry I'm sorry I didn't mean to. I thought, I god I'm a horrid girlfriend" she mumbled over and over as she came to you, you lay crumpled on the ground, tears flowing down your now red cheeks as you struggled for air. "It's. Okay. Leo." You gasped out, "I'm. Alright."
She knew that was a lie, she knew your fears and now she'd only gone and done the same your mother would do to you as a child. Truly she felt horrible and now hurting you was the final straw. You moved to curl in her lap in an attempt to show her you're not mad at her, she instantly responded but stroking your hair and murmuring apology after apology.
You both stayed like that for some time, before you felt well enough to move to the bedroom where you and Leo just cuddled and she explained everything, she feared you'd leave her and you made sure to remind her you wouldn't ever leave her. She owned your heart just as you owned hers.

The Broken Destiel Seals: A Semicomprehensive Unillustrated List
(So far)
I didn't complete my (self-appointed) assignment for Destiel Day, which was to compile a complete list of every time Destiel went canon (thus breaking one of the Sixty-Six Seals: when they all fall, the pale coconuts will collide), with nice gifs. To me, Destiel is "canonized" by persons/entities who officially create and distribute the show: producers, writers, actors, directors, other crew, translators, and networks.
Have, instead, this work in progress.
November 5, 2020, 15x18, “Despair”: Cas declares his love.
Then:
Nov. 11, 2020: Misha Collins at DCLOnline: “It was a long time in the making. It was really important to [Robert Berens] and really important to me. When he pitched me the storyline it gave me chills. I thought - this is awesome. This vindication and this expression of love - at the end - it makes it all worth it. I was really happy about it. You know, it’s interesting, there are some fans who are asexual who have taken solace in the fact that Cas hasn’t made this kind of declaration [before] so I feel bad that those fans might get a little bit alienated. However, I’m sure that a lot of them are also okay with this. There’s a trope in Hollywood of “kill the gays” and so Cas meeting with his demise only seconds after making this homosexual declaration of love fits into that fairly insidious trope, however, for some reason, that is, in my mind, not really as important as the declaration itself.”
Nov. 12, 2020, 15x19, “Inherit the Earth”: Lucifer, whose signature move is pretending to be a dead lover to get someone to let him in (done to Sam, Nick, and Vince Vincente), pretends to be Cas when calling Dean.
November 19, 2020, 15x20, “Carry On”: Bobby’s knowing eyebrow waggle when telling Dean that Cass "helped"--was safe in heaven.
November 25, 2020, the Latin American dub: “Te amo.” “Y yo a ti, Cas.” https://teamironmanforever.tumblr.com/post/637355024027090944/highlight-translation-of-the-spanish-dub-actor
Those are the first five seals, taking us to the end of November 2020.
But they were just the beginning.
December 6, 2020, 5x4 “The End” script: “I think the only thing we have left, me and Dean, is each other.”
December 6, 2020: confirmation that Dean was scripted to say “I love you” in the crypt scene.
December 11, 2020, 15x18 script direction: “Still beautiful. Still Dean Winchester.”
December 28, 2020, 7x1 script direction: “Dean looks down, away, quietly emotional—believe it or not, the following is a loving, heart-wrenched eulogy.”
January 8, 2021: Sky Deutschland describes Cas’s closest relationship as “Dean <3”
March 3, 2021, 15x18 German dub
March 10, 2021, 15x18 French dub
March 25, 2021: Before airing the SPN finale, Sky Deutschland shares Destiel reunion fanart. https://www.instagram.com/p/CM2hL42CQbO/
April 4, 2021: cameo with Misha reciting deleted bit from 05x04 The End gets published
April 10, 2021, Misha at Paris DarkLight Conline: The mix tape contained rock love songs.
April 18, 2021, 13x6 second draft script: Dean spread Cas’s ashes in a beautiful meadow near a windmill.
Note: from November 2020 to the beginning of May 2021, Destiel was going canon an average of once a week.
6/18/21, 15x18 Russian dub: “From our very first meeting, ever since I pulled you out of hell, I’ve been changing beside you. I learned love from you.” “Don’t even think about it, Cas.”
6/30/21, original script for 8x17, “Good-bye Stranger”: “I forgive you, Cas…I love you.”
9/4/21, Misha Collins at Memento Con 21: “Cas saw love in Dean’s eyes.”
9/9/21: the Italian dub’s “I love you” is platonic (unlike all other translations); Misha retorts with a “Ti amo” tweet.
10/15/21, DenCon 21:
April 2022, SPN Indy: Misha confirms that Jensen/Radio Company song “Watching Over Me” is about Cas
9/5/22, 13x20 “Unfinished Business” production script: “I lost Cas and it damn near broke me.”
10/23/22, Jensen Ackles at VanCon 22: “I had an answer for that in the next set up--camera set up after Castiel is taken and Dean's on the floor and puts his--I put my--my head in my hands--um--in that moment I did that not because I just lost--well because I--I-- he--because I lost Cas, but also because I didn't-- I didn't say anything--I didn't give him anything. And--what I had in my head was, I should have said 'I love you too' and hugged him."
Note: Someone in the future will earn their doctorate in psychology studying Jensen Ackles's tangled pronouns when he talks about Dean.
11/16/22, 14x10 “Prophet and Loss” blue pages: “The world loses you, and me—I—I lose you too. And that is unacceptable to me, Dean. Unacceptable. Totally.”
2/25/23, JA at JIB 2023: “Well, I mean hopefully we get to see that at some point but I'm sure it would go how we all think it would go, it would probably be a big embrace and then Dean would say ‘Can we talk about that goodbye a little bit?’"
February 2023, JIB: Jensen and Misha write a Destiel song onstage
8/23/23: News breaks that the Latin American translator “doesn’t add stuff” and while he doesn’t remember specifically, he thinks Dean’s reciprocation must have been in the script he worked from. https://www.tumblr.com/blanketforcas/726452424930410496/context-for-those-who-missed-it
Those are the roughly 28 Destiel Seals through 11/5/23.
And counting...

So I was in the Jonsa tag because I'm slowly getting back onto my Jonsa bullshit and this popped up as one of the latest posts:
Tumblr media
And then I see the ever-so smart tags of someone else when reblogging said post:
Tumblr media
To be fair, this op and reblogger didn't tag this post as Jonsa and obviously Tumblr is at it again with their algorithm but I found the content of said post and the assertion that Jonsas are "idiots" and "delusional" to be utterly fascinating.
For one, when the show was airing its final season, I never ever saw any Jonsas claim that it was Emilia's fault that Jonsa didn't get an HEA together at the end. Not in the circles I traveled. That's a ludicrous claim. Emilia had no investment on what Jon's or Sansa's endings would be, together or not.
What Emilia did change however that many have been (correctly) critical of was the dialogue in the throne room scene before Jon 🗡️ Dany. Rather than let everyone see exactly who Dany was, who she had become, she asked D&D to add in the lines of the whole "I couldn't count to twenty" bit. She admitted as much in an interview, stating that she wanted fans to remember who Dany was in the beginning of the show, and D&D obliged. That's a major problem, whether you're a fan of Dany or not, especially if you're a fan. That negated Dany's dark turn completely and her entire arc as a character. It negated why she chose to take such actions and the true ending that she deserved. While I respect Emilia as an actress and as a human being, she was wrong to ask D&D to do that. She's not a writer and/or showrunner. She should never have had that part added in because season 1 and season 2 Dany even was not who season 8 Dany was (or even season 7 or season 6 or season 5). That is the only thing I've seen Jonsas (and other sections of the fandom) be rightly critical of.
The "delusions" and "idiocy" I see coming from some of the Dany stans, though, is truly confounding to the rest of us. "Dany was never supposed to go dark!" "It was bad writing!" "Even Emilia knows!" "That's not how it goes in the books!"
Dany was always supposed to go dark. That's the entire point of her story. Go back and watch the show again. It's always been there. They have always framed her actions as just when really they were anything but. They've always shown the darkness waiting inside her to be unleashed. She was always going to be the final boss in the end.
While the last season was not most people's favorites and things were rushed & mistakes were made, Dany going dark in general is not bad writing. It's actually good writing because it closes up what they've been setting up for her since season 1 (mind you GRRM was involved in writing episodes of the show from seasons 1-4 so even if his books end differently, that part of Dany's darkness is still in there, just saying).
Emilia has self-admittedly blurred the line between herself and her character for some time now. And it's understandable. She played the character for 10 years (another example of an actor I can think of sharing this sort of blurring approach is Jensen Ackles with Dean Winchester after 15 years of him playing that character) and she underwent some intense and dangerous health issues during that time that thankfully she survived and was able to heal from. She has talked about drawing strength from the character during these times and she naturally is protective of the character for all of those reasons. But even she has stated that now when she looks back, she sees where the show was leading Dany all alone. She may have her own thoughts on why the dark turn happened when it did but again, she is not a writer, producer, or director. She also defers to the work D&D did despite being honest about her emotional reactions to Dany's ending when she first read it and afterwards.
"That's now how it goes in the books!" This is probably the most common argument point many Dany stans make that just causes me to repeatedly roll my eyes. This is the show, not the books. Two different universes essentially. Did you not realize the show was adapted from the books? Do you know what adapted means? Do you know that adaptations happen because a story is being transferred from one medium to another? Did the Twilight, Harry Potter, and Hunger Games films all follow the books to the last letter? No. Why? Because they were adapted from a written medium to a visual medium. This has been happening since your parents were toddlers. And did you not notice how there was no Lady Stoneheart or Val or Dacey Mormont or Harry Hardyng or Young Griff? Did you notice how it was Sansa that married Ramsay and not Jeyne? At what point were you going to realize that the show was going to go its own route? Should they have changed the names to Jansa Jark, Son Show, and Myra Jark in order to get your attention? Nanerys Margaryen perhaps? Jyrion Nannister? Black Beetle? Come on now 🤡
I will never understand why people refuse to see what's right in front of them, even when their fave is saying it. And yet they call Jonsas delusional. Okay, then.
Then again:
Tumblr media
"Sansa Stark will die screaming"...okay, then.

Hey! It's the first time Buck Begins anon from before!! First of all do not feel bad for rambling - that is exactly what that ask was for! I loved hearing your thoughts!
And to answer your question about how I started watching -- 911 was a show always a show on my 'to watch' radar but I didn't give it much thought? I did watch s1 of lone star tho. until then I saw bi Buck on my dash for the first time after Tommy kisses him and i just went oh??!??! 👀👀 I binge watched season 1 and 2, and then I gave up and ended up watching s7 part 2 live while also watching s3 for the first time 🤣 there were some gaps I had to fill using fanon knowledge but I think it worked? And now I'm furiously trying to watch s4 around my busy work schedule before s8 airs 😅🤣
Hasn't stopped my from reading bucktommy fic or posting gifsets tho. Tommy has bewitched me, I love him. Every time I watch a scene where Buck talks about his love life a part of me is just- don't worry, your man is coming
oh! same here! i'd known about it for years but i'd just avoided it thinking it was just a different take on the same old tired procedural cop shows, or maybe something too dramatised like grey's anatomy. i'm not sure i even realised it was about firefighters until i heard people referring to it as 'the gay firefighter show' and even then i didn't really connect the dots.. 🔥👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨🚒
one of my fave spn blogs (bc i was a destiel girlie before the gay firefighter show consumed my life) was a 911 fan so i learned about bi!buck through her blogging (shoutout to @sunglassesmish: kay, you have changed my life for the better 😚🫶). i mean, i came from spn - where bi!dean is widely considered unacknowledged canon and it's a show now several years past its finale but with a dedicated fanbase still hoping for some kind of reboot or movie or something to fix the shit they did in the finale - to a show with a canon bi character, moreover a character in his 30s who had been presumed (by some)/written as (sorta) straight for 6 whole seasons. and evan buckley.. he's so much like dean wincester: the all american heroic ladies man with a traumatic upbringing and a megawatt smile and babygirl features and a heart of gold who just wants to be loved.. honestly i could write essays about these two.. ✍️
i love that we're on the same page! i started with season 7 (i watched 7x05 and onwards live) and got through seasons 1-3 while s7 was airing week to week, and so my buck knowledge was growing as i excitedly waited for the next ep to air with the rest of fandom (there's just something about that weeklong anticipation, i've missed it so much - the theorising, the time for fanworks, etc). 📺
i was also the same, trying to learn what i could through dash osmosis of the seasons i hadn't watched yet (i knew vaguely about the lightning strike and tried not to spoil myself too much about the family secret but reading fic and meta blew those doors wide open 😅). and even in season 1 i was like: i'm so glad he'll grow to be that person in season 7 one day, that he'll get to be vulnerable and open and earnest and loved and also get kissed by a handsome guy. 🥰
OMG WE ARE BOTH ON SEASON 4!! 🥳 i mean, i knew that, but it's still so exciting to know there are folks out there in the same boat! ⛵ i don't think i've liveblogged any other ep besides Buck Begins, but i think i'll probably do a lightning strike/coma liveblog when i get to it.
omg the amount of bucktommy fics i've consumed since april.. i remember in those early days i was consuming every single fic that got posted on ao3 - about a dozen 1k fics a day - until eventually there was 60+ fics a day and i couldn't keep up, but i'm still reading about 2-5 fics (mostly short ones) a day. this fandom is hella talented. 📚
our love for tommy kinard knows no bounds. 🤝💖🤝 and YES- omg- the way he is just craving love and a partner on the same page as him, someone he can be himself with.. lightning boy will meet him flying into a hurricane and i just think that's neat. ⛈️😘

can i ask why you hate wayward sisters?
First and foremost, because I know a lot of people feel this way about wayward sisters, it’s got nothing to do with a general disinterest in seeing a woman led cast in the supernatural universe, believing that there cannot be a Supernatural without Sam&Dean, and nothing to do with not wanting success for the girls and the pilot.
I was really excited when they first announced it because I was a huge fan of Jody and Donna and their gaggle of hunter girls, personally my favourite was Alex- maybe because she’s a little Sam coded with wanting to go to medical school and be normal and I’m just really captivated by her origin story as vampire bait. The bitterness came later when it was all for nothing because it never got picked up, behind closed doors it was likely already slammed down by The CW because we know from interviews the president has said he doesn’t think people would care about a show without Sam and Dean, and then to add insult to injury they aired one more wayward sisters relevant episode after the fact.
Most people think of wayward sisters as that one episode, the true pilot episode but that’s not really the case,
You have Patience; where they kill off a very beloved season one character, Missouri, for the character development of a character who would never be relevant again which is both a waste and lazy writing because why should I care about Patience grieving when I don’t even know her? There’s nothing driving a connection here between me and this character other than a one hit wonder from the early days and then they just kill the only interesting thing about the girl before it has time to blossom into something better and tragic.
Then it’s The Bad Place; which is the introduction to Kaia- because every girl we don’t know need their own episode apparently. We didn’t know Sam and Dean and yet they made a perfectly captivating pilot episode where it explored them enough as characters to make them interesting right then and there… but I digress. This is Episode NINE, and Jack only now makes his return to the screen because he’s relevant to move the plot of a different show along. And again, like Patience I just don’t care about Kaia’s struggles because I do not know her as a character, they’ve just thrown her at the audience already laid bare as if that’s meant to make her interesting when it’s made her so flat with no intrigue.
THEN, it’s Wayward Sisters. I just hate the premise of this being an AU thing, like the girls have to go away lest whatever insane bullshit the writers want to throw at them is going to conflict with the world ending drama of the Winchesters. There is nothing particularly interesting about the bad place, it’s an empty forest and sometimes there’s spooky noises in the background, it’s just purgatory with a different colour filter.
Then it fails, and then it’s ANOTHER WAYWARD SISTERS EPISODE! It’s Donna and her niece who never became plot relevant enough for anyone to remember she’s supposed to be in the gang! At least this one is fun because Sam is going to get sold on the black market I guess?
This was the mid season finale in a show that is very clearly entering its last stages of life. They used nearly the entire front half of season 13 to pitch a show that never happened. Could you imagine the kinds of interesting things that could’ve happened in all that time? Maybe something relevant to Jack, or Mary, since those are two characters I want to like very badly and I just can’t sometimes because they weren’t very interesting in season 13. Because they didn’t get a chance to be before they were thrown away. Jack is the big plot, he’s there, then they throw him away, then they bring him back for another show and use that show to throw him away again.
Also, honestly? I don’t really like the girls, but not how you think. It’s nothing to do with being a woman hater, I know it sounds like that when there’s absolutely nothing interesting about some of the male characters I like (*cough* Asmodeus and Loki *cough*) and yet I’ll make huge elaborate headcanons and adore them, but it’s the being a woman myself that makes them harder to stand. A guy being a loser? Whatever. Those women being characterised as motherly angel saints who have a gentle and tender blooming WLW relationships and they’ll coyly hold hands and be chaste lovers, but don’t forget they’re GirlBosses, and they all dress in flannel because they’re just so super tough! But also they all have to wear a full face of makeup to fight vampires! It’s different, because I’m watching that and I know there’s not a hint of irony in it and the writers have written them like that not because they’re being lazy or they’re hacks, but because that’s how they actually see women, that’s what they think women want to see. When a guy character sucks he just sucks, when a woman sucks I can see the misogyny that went into writing her and I don’t want to look. Jody and Donna are Sam and Dean’s peers and I think maybe even younger than them and yet they’re motherly and tender through the horrors. Claire hasn’t had a moment of peace since she was like five years old where she was possessed by an angel who knew her mind couldn’t comprehend consent and used her to kill people, then took her father again and tore her family apart, and then they just take all the teeth out of her bite and make her snappy and quick witted instead because there always needs to be plausible deniability about whether or not a character might dislike the Winchesters because they’re just the specialist little boys ever! It’s the potential that upsets me, it’s that we could’ve really had a female led hunting show and it failed from the jump because they were not writing interesting and complex characters, it’s the same grief I have with Mary that they’ve taken all the complexities about being a hunter and the horrors of what you have to do to survive and they’ve taken the teeth out of these women to make them flatter and more placid characters out of I guess fear of upsetting the male characters? Fear of letting a woman take up space and be loud? It’s not like they can’t be those things and also interesting, Jo and Ellen were interesting, the writers here just don’t care for the women and their relationships they’re writing, they’re just throwing shit at paper and hoping to make bank off women.
It wasn’t one episode and I’m kinda just bitter, it was four episodes about people we never really see again in a season filled with a LOT of things that were insanely interesting to me if my entire blog doesn’t give that away, I’m a little crazed about s13. It was just a massive waste to think about the characterisation time and plot development and relationship building that could’ve been done for characters that actually mattered this season, especially when this is the one where they’re actually going to have Michael V Lucifer. You’d think that would be a bigger deal than it was.
In a season filled with so much already, they dedicated four episodes to a show that doesn’t exist, and the vast majority of plots in the main storyline suffered for it by being incomplete, jarring, or lacklustre.
At least Jensen had the balls to make The Winchesters stand on its own two feet, I guess I have to give him respect for that. Could you imagine if the finale to the show was his back door pilot?

will you pretty please tell me about how teen wolf is a shonen??
Oh Griffin you're gunna be so sorry you asked.
I started thinking about this in the first place because I was pondering about the genuinely weird fan reaction to the first couple of seasons of Teen Wolf. Mostly, how people went "this is a concept we like!" and then had no idea what to do with and how to react to the main cast.
To be totally fair, part of this is because the writing of the first season is even worse than you remember it being and the Scott/Allison romance, which is supposed to be the show's centerpiece, is maybe the worst written part of all of it. Another part of it is that the acting talent skewed very young (Dylan O'Brian and Tyler Posey were both only 19/20 during season 1) and their ability to work with this frankly terrible material was a little bit uneven (Posey got WAY better as the show went on and by the end of it was really great imo, but oh man. that first season is not his best work).
But I also think there's a genre and genre convention thing going on here. Let me explain.
(disclaimer because this is a public post on tumblr: this is not that serious and is mostly a thought experiment in genre conventions please don't take it that seriously)
When did Teen Wolf first air? 2011. What were some comparable shows coming out about that time, or that an audience who wanted to watch Teen Wolf might also have watched/been aware of?
The Vampire Dairies, Supernatural, probably something like Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
What do some of these shows have in common?
Snarky/sarcastic main characters (Dean Winchester, Buffy)
Main characters who are often gray-moral or struggle with a pull to The Dark Side (the moral compasses in these shows are usually part of the supporting cast) (and are always high up on the list to be killed off for drama tbh)
Pre-streaming TV formula (episodic monster-of-the-week builds to a larger plot which is resolved in the last 4th of the season)
Romance that relies strongly on will they/won't they, love triangles, and edgy angsty 2000s vampire shenanigans.
You will notice that Teen Wolf has. basically none of this?
Teen Wolf has:
A painfully sincere main character
That same main character is about as moral and stick-to-his-guns as they come
Said main character gives Big Sweeping Speeches that convince irredeemable bad guys to be on his side instead of theirs.
Structured in clear and well-defined arcs, no episodic monster-of-the-week, where the bad guys keep getting bigger and scott's party keeps needing to power up to deal with them.
Audience knows who Scott is gunna end up with pretty much immediately (even when Scott moves on from Allison because of IRL cast fuckery, he always has one main romantic objective and works toward that)
Liberal application of coming-of-age themes/The Power Of Friendship
,,,,,Hm, I think to myself. That sure is something that feels more familiar to the way a shonen is structured than how a western supernatural teen drama is usually structured.
Scott in particular is an archetype that feels very foreign to the landscape of the western supernatural drama at the time. Protagonists of those types of shows were rarely as good and pure and kind as Scott is, and I think it's a big reason why so much of the audience didn't know what to do with him at first and instead attached to Stiles (who is gray-moral and sarcastic and would not feel out of place in a show like spn or btvs) (yes yes I know the sterek thing is also a big reason but go with it for a second here). However, Scott is NOT an archetype that would feel foreign to Shonen Jump at the time, particularly in an era where Naruto was still ruling the world.
Honestly, the whole cast of characters feels out-of-beat with a 2010s Western supernatural drama. The dynamic of the main cast in early seasons — Pure of Heart-Dumb of Ass hero, Tragic Cold and Competent foil (Derek basically playing the role of Sasuke here, lol), Powerless Childhood Friend, Love Interest with a Badass Weapon to Hide Her Vulnerability — all feels much more familiar with the tropes of a shonen (something like Shaman King specifically jumps to mind) than something that would show up in The Vampire Diaries. In Western supernatural dramas, you usually had a Snarky-Angry Hero, Tragic Brooding Love Interest, Concerned But Useless Friend/Sidekick.
,,,,,,Tbh, in a standard western teen drama, the Derek character would have been Scott's love interest. Which. Honestly, what the hell, now I want that, that sounds like an awesome show. Probably better than the Teen Wolf we got.
Oh. Also, there's a hot murder uncle. which is for-sure an anime thing.
ALSO-also, there are kitsune in this show for one season for like no reason because they're never mentioned again and vanish in the next season which happens WAY MORE THAN YOU THINK IT WOULD in this DUMB BAD NONSENSE SHOW —
clears throat. nevertheless. My thesis:
1: At the time it came out (2011), Teen Wolf was structured more like a shonen than a western supernatural teen drama. 2: That is part of the reason why fans had weird reactions to it — they were expecting one genre and it gave them another one, which a lot of the audience likely wasn't that familiar with. 3: this whole show is batshit bonkers.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk. *bows.*

My Ted Lasso Re-watch: S2E2
Lavender
Oh Jamie, going from reality TV, to talk show and looking like a muppet. Also, the bit with Phil and Holly has not aged well with ermmm... Recent discoveries behind the scenes. Not of Ted Lasso, of the talk show This Morning.
Man City doesn't want Jamie. But he still has support of fans, that's good. We do eventually find out why he left Man City.
Beard and Jane are not a good or healthy couple. They should not be together. Beard deserves better but the thinks that's what he deserves.
Nate micromanaging Will. He's just doing his job, and doing it well. Leave the poor guy alone.
Aww, Will has a girlfriend. Good for him.
Roy cares about his new team. Especially Kokoruda and Phoebe. Too bad he wants nothing to do with Richmond.
Keeley knows what she likes in a man and isn't afraid to express it. Go Keeley.
Ted riding the lawn mower, what a dork.
Ted is hurt about Dr Sharon staying for the season because he still doesn't trust her. Even though it's good for the team and later him. She does have a cool bike though.
Ted is confusing. He wants to be included about decisions for the team but wants Higgins to make his own mind up about things. It was Higgins's idea to bring Dr Sharon in and since he is director of football operations (what does that even mean)? He should get a say in what is best for the team. And Dr Sharon is what is best for them.
Nate is still too quick to complain about Will. I will say, personally I find lavender to be kind of horrible to smell.
No one wants Jamie. Because he shows no loyalty to anyone. And clubs and the public have seen that. They don't wasn't to sign him for something if he's just going to jump ship when he gets bored.
Ted bursting though doors is everything to me. I love that manic pixie dream boy. But yeah, don't barge into a therapist's office.
Sudeikis does actually play video games in real life, because they are fun. If something is taking over your life you should change your habits to prevent it from taking up most of your waking hours. This only applies to non-addictive things. You don't want to deprive yourself of enjoyment because that will make you miserable, but just adjust how you view that relationship you have with it. It's why some people struggle with dieting. Because they try to eliminate the things that are 'bad' for them, instead of accepting that they can be part of their diet but not a major part of it.
Ted is very disarming. He wants to know everything he can about a person straight away. But Dr Sharon sees through it.
Keeley mentioning Dubai Air, for the campaign that Sam will be a part of next episode.
Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. I have watched too much Supernatural to have gotten that joke before Ted did. Plant and Page were Sam and Dean's most used aliases. You are off your game here Ted, Dr Sharon really must have you rattled.
'What a fucking arsehole' is back again, because Dr Sharon doesn't eat sugar. I'm going to have to keep track of how many times it's said in the show.
As much as Rebecca might know what her problems are, she still show see a therapist because they would have knowledge and the capabilities to help her move on from her relationship with Rupert. She manages on her own well enough, but there are still things that might need addressing. And Ted, he works out that he needs help eventually. Friends aren't your therapists, they can only do so much to help. If you need help, see a professional, your friends are your support network to help keep you in the right path to getting to a healthier emotional state. You're not burdening people by sharing your problems, but they might not always be able to help you in the way you need, that's where professionals come in. Spoken as someone trying to get that help now.

that's two blatant ass queer dean/destiel open promotion cycles on social media for two episodes and 2p0 is still making confused unga bunga noises on what's happening. Meg all "it's all about the narrative parallels" literally what I have been telling these morons for over a year while they dogpile me and deny it.
how long until they accept reality that they all fucked up, and that 2p0 isn't getting what he wants?
Tumblr media
I really
really
hope you remember that "only jensen's opinion matters" take of yours. Truly. Because you know, that man doesn't exist in a bubble. he talks to people whether you know it or not. and boy son him innocently smiling at low grade crew is not the dunk you think it is. nor is any sad semantics about dialect going to change it for you, or aggrandizing a scene being moved to a later episode for flow only for it to come back around like my old script draft process post indicated. None of it is going to change the end of the road, my man
jensen isn't a pokemon. he doesn't stay in a little capsule outside of the world until invoked for articles or appearances. he has like friends, and opinions not recorded by the media, and conversations about shit. And these people don't all magically turn up in consulting credits. But these people also are never, ever fucking serpentine ladder climbing fans, not even ones like jules being used as a political badge she's too daft to figure out. They're real industry colleagues and friends. They don't want you fuckin gremlins knowing their real shit.
Catch up. the system is built for DECADES to screen out goblins like jules and leave them rotting at the bottom of shit mountain never to be hired on another project again
welcome to destiel town. if you look on the right you'll see your mountain of failures and to the left, all the blatant ass deancas shit and overt marketing for the whole show complete with dean winchester shooting rainbows out of his head and the main account, meg and danneel all online all acknowledging the parallels you guys denied this shit is about. Either get in the clown car to fix the narrative or get out.
i know you and wigglebox threw in all your clout chips and lies to high school drama me but kids, no matter what childish drama rings you run, reality is reality. sorry you burned your chips. they're my chips now.
hey banned stalky pololers, remember all my history about the gulf? Unless you think I lied for 6 years in advance you might want to tell 2p0 and jules and wiggs to stop fucking around. I know wiggs never had real access to the tea because she wasn't trusted then either, but a few might. genuinely funny that the same people that screamed "nono never add wigglebox back here she can't be trusted!" ran to her the second they were told to stop being assholes. They'll all eat each other in time.
now the whole lot has sold out so bad they're working with wincels and lowkey j2 tinhats to spread bitter narratives and try to maintain old fandom clout proxy Wiki breaking her NDA for 8 months running and it's just sad all around
it's okay, banned people. you can just say you're salty as fuck you bet on the wrong horse, don't have meaningful leaks, leads or access, and zero meaningful involvement, and have been flying blind driven purely by grudgewank you're trying to pose as about leaks, when you lied to your followers for 8 months about the pilot, consciously. People that were banned that WERENT dipshits and figured it out politely requested to come back and did, but yall are just digging a hole all the way to fucking china
i've got people i don't trust now banging on my doors demanding to know how i knew what i knew, about things that haven't even aired yet, that you guys aren't even aware of, to the point a person begged and pleaded and apologized for how they mistreated me to know, mentioned "they" (wiki) were laughing and i reminded i didn't care because i been through this rodeo with mary manchin too and these kids dont understand their capacity limits. Manchin was wrong, I was right, and history is about to repeat. That person got it straight from jensen too. So like. you guys can all sit here and deny into the void. it is what it is. you've lost.
your grudges and malice and parasocializations and bad M&G spins and your anger at not being involved or meaningful or even having info worth two shits and realizing your wiki line is even moot, that's your shit to unpack, but you won't. Because the second you guys unpack that, your server driven by vendettas, five year old gotchas and denial is going to fall the fuck to pieces.
you guys don't even have spn scripts to hock anymore and nobody cares. any new attempts at sekrit info you or 2p0 spin are moot because they're getting disproven in matters of days. The only sustainability is trying to pspsps people with jules feeding scripts as they air, and pretending she hasn't been feeding you shit under the radar the whole time. but nobody cares, because it's fucking airing, and so far only one account in the fandom has been able to accurately stay on track on what's happening.
figure it out, douchecanoes. we won't need your scripts for the arguments you'll try to make about the end of the road in denial. it's pretty damn clear. you might want them to try to find some semantics to argue but the rest of the world won't
and it won't matter how much the outdated but self proclaimed cool kids screech or cry or throw drama bombs or twist things or lie, we're going where we're fucking going, so if you guys just want to convert to an anti server now, just rip off the bandaid and get it over with.
kids learning real quick that just because you don't like a fact or a person doesn't make the fact or person untrue. It just means you've been on the wrong side. enjoy that.
