LOVE Wicked Games sm!!!!! Do you have a face claim for Olivia?
I didn't when I started which is unusual for me because I am an extremely visual person! I usually cast all my original characters before I even start writing, but it wasn't until sometime last year I found someone who matched who I had imagined in my head. Of course, anyone and everyone can cast whoever they want while reading it, but to me Olivia Carson has been "played" by actress and model Abigail Cowan, but with brown eyes (I edited it)
Tumblr media
And since I want to procrastinate school work, here's the face claim of every original character in Wicked Games: Her parents Tess and Dan Carson are Marisa Tomei and Dean Noris. Aunt Susie isn't very different, since her and Tess are twins.
Tumblr media
Cousin Tommy is Timothee Chalamet
Tumblr media
Her body guards Bobby Burnham (who might be a book character, I can't remember) and Samuel as Michael Keaton and Jared Padalecki
Tumblr media
Chow Lin is played by Godfrey Gao + tattoos (not original, but he is hot in the books, so I have no idea what HBO was doing there)
Tumblr media
James is Spike! (And I can't believe NO ONE clocked that)
Tumblr media
Her ex Jaimie is Adam Brody
Tumblr media
Glenn Costa and Officer Moreland are Jim Parsons and Wendell Pierce (from the Wire, specifically)
Tumblr media
And Desmond Cataliades (who is a book character, not original) is David Costabile because I'm currently watching Suits
Tumblr media
I think those are the main ones lol
Olivia's house is ALSO a real house in Shreveport, but I can't find the Zillow listing anymore :(
Eric's house is this one, but the 2nd and 3rd floor are different layouts, the garden is fuller and overgrown for privacy, no pool, and of course different paint/decor on the inside.
Let me know if you want one for Harder the Fall!

5 Essential Acting Techniques Every Actor in the New York City Casting Agencies Should Know
The work of an actor is frequently unclear and intangible, which is why, over time, performers and directors have created varied approaches to parts. These acting skills serve two purposes: They make it simpler to describe the mechanics of acting, while also providing performers with an arsenal of skills to utilize when taking on a character. Here are the five key acting methods that every actor should be familiar with.
Tumblr media
1. Stanislavski’s System Technique
Developed by Constantin Stanislavski between 1911 and 1916, this approach employs emotional memory, physical acts, and self-analysis to elicit a character's feelings on stage. Stanislavski's work influenced early twentieth-century acting and paved the path for new approaches. Lord Laurence Olivier and Sir John Gielgud are two well-known actors from the twentieth century who based their careers on the Stanislavski method.
Lord Laurence Olivier, Sir John Gielgud, Ellen Burstyn, and Marilyn Monroe have all employed this approach.
2. The Strasburg Method Technique
Lee Strasburg developed Stanislavski's approach by basing his character's experiences on his own life. Strasburg thought that feeling the emotions that a character would have to depict would enhance the performance and the actor's attachment to the part. This is now known as Method acting.
Strasburg coached James Dean, Alec Baldwin, and Marilyn Monroe, among others, and his style is popular with Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, and others.
3. Meisner Technique
This acting approach was invented by Sandford Meisner, a colleague of Lee Strasberg, and it is also inspired by the Stanislavski method. The idea is to get rid of any inclination and instead rely on instinct so that you can be more present and at the moment on stage.
The Meisner approach emphasizes improvisation exercises and the use of imagination to elicit emotion rather than memory.
The Meisner method is used by Diane Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Allison Janney, and Anthony Hopkins.
4. Method Acting Technique
The Stanislavski approach influenced Lee Strasberg's Method Acting technique, which is still widely used today. Once again, the goal is to make the performance as emotionally believable as possible. In this, actors are taught how to recollect powerful feelings from their past using their own experiences.
It is a common misperception that this acting approach causes staying in character both on and off-screen or on stage.
This acting method has been used by Daniel Day-Lewis, Christian Bale, Robert Di Niro, and Marlon Brando.
5. Stella Adler’s Technique
Stella Adler was an American actress in the period of Strasburg and Stanislavski, but their intensity put her off. Adler modified the two previous strategies to incorporate an important focus on imagination to better her acting without concentrating on prior experiences.
Adler trained Marlon Brando, Robert DeNiro, Benicio Del Toro, Mark Ruffalo, and Melanie Griffith.
Conclusion
This collection of approaches will provide you with the vocabulary to exist in a room of fellow actors and communicate by performing. While this is only a quick introduction, we hope you now know where to begin and what skills to build.

He Tried//Dean Keaton x Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: I fully blame my new obsession with this movie on @super-who-dat for introducing me to it. So thanks Danny ;) If anyone hasn’t seen The Usual Suspects you should do yourself a favor and go watch it. Its incredible.
Keaton was quiet, his eyes were far away, darting to the files on the table occasionally. Biting your lip between your teeth, you could see the gears turning in his head ion over time. How to play this, the best way out, how do we...he get out of this alive? You crossed your arms tightly across your chest but made your way over to him anyway. Each step was careful, like approaching an animal cornered. You stopped in front of him but he said nothing, eyes still far away, brain still raising. If it came down to it, would he kill you? You were afraid you knew the answer.
"Penny for your thoughts?"
He licked his lips but said nothing.
"I'd go as high as a nickel."
"No less than a quarter." He shot back, still not looking at you. You huffed a laugh without any humor and sat down next to him.
"He's been watching us for months. This Kobayashi guy or whoever he works with."
"I know…" He paused, finally looking up at you. "You don't actually believe in that Keyser Soze bull do you?"
He raised his brow like he was asking a child if they believed in the boogie man, which in a way was exactly what Keyser Soze was.
"I don't know." You answered back with a small shrug. "I know there's someone out there who knows how to get to us though."
Keaton scoffed as you held up the pictures from your file. A picture of you through your apartment window sat prominently on the top. Keaton glanced at it, his jaw clenching slightly but relaxing almost just as quickly when he looked away. He was quiet for a moment as his mind continued to race through scenario to scenario in search of one that would get him out of this alive.
"Hey, Keaton?" You swallowed thickly to ask. He murmured back in response.
"Did you really go straight?"
That stopped him. He turned his head to look at you. You were worrying your bottom lip between your teeth again.
He sighed, closing his eyes, running his hand through his hair. "I thought I was."
You nodded. Yeah, it seemed like things really got screwed up for him huh? Across the room McManus and Fenster were starting to argue, McManus throwing his file on the ground in a huff. You shook your head, moving to get up and go break the two apart but a tight grip on your wrist stopped you.
Keaton looked at you seriously. “I tried you know. I really tried.”
He stared you down like it was important that you knew this. You put your hand over his on your wrist. “I know you did.”
The corners of his lips drew up, he glanced down at your hand over his.“You told me once guys like me couldn’t go straight.”
“Not for a lack of trying.”
He looked back up at you. You drew in a breath through your teeth as he leaned forward subtly. You felt yourself begin to copy his movements when-
“Na, na, fuck this man!”
You both paused at the sound of Fenster’s voice shattering whatever had come over the two of you. You held your breath but Keaton straightened up.
“This is bullshit man. That Kobayashi guy can’t just come in here and tell us what jobs we pull! No way, no way man.” Fenster paced the room, running his hands over his carefully styled hair.
You sighed, shaking your head.
“Fester would you calm down?!” You argued. “This isn’t going to help anything.”
“Yeah, well I don’t see you coming up with any ideas!” Fenster argued back.
“Keaton,” Verbal spoke up from the corner where he’d been standing, watching the rest of you panic. You’d almost forgotten he was there. “What do you think we should do?”
Keaton tilted his head to one side then the next, before standing decidedly. “Like Fenster said. No one tells us which jobs to pull.”

The song You by Keaton Henson has a line that goes like this: “If you must die, sweetheart, die knowing that your life was my life’s best part” Now imagine Cas thinking this every day of the last 12 years that he has loved Dean, watching Dean constantly throwing himself into the clutches of death. Knowing that if Dean dies, he heart would shatter into diamond dust, yet not having the heart to stop him from fighting fate either. So Cas just keeps watching, and thinks
i’m sorry i saw “you by keaton henson” and i’m unable to read the rest of this ask because i’m sobbing

What I’ve Watched During Quarantine (so far):
TV Shows:
The Last Kingdom - holy shit I love this show and I cannot wait for a new season. Æthelflaed is a badass bitch. But I miss Alfred.
After Life - the most heartbreaking show in the world, with Ricky Gervais being funny between making me cry.
Community - maybe my favourite sitcom. I fucking love this show. I’m containing myself because if I don’t, I’ll go on forever.
Hunters - I love love love love love this weird-ass, terrifying, mind-bending, incredible show. What a ride. Sister Harriet is my favourite even though I don’t trust her.
Tiger King - Yes, along with everyone else I watched this fuckery. What is there to say? I was entertained, that’s it.
Making a Murderer - I was on a roll after Tiger King and wanted something crazy, and I got it. What a bunch of fucked up shit. I can’t believe this is real. Also Kathleen Zellner is a badass bitch and I love her.
Good Omens - I broke down and watched it. And this was the weirdest shit I’ve ever seen but I loved it. Crowley and Aziraphale are a delight. And my history nerd heart couldn’t handle it.
The Boys - wow this was the most disturbing, wonderful show. Truly terrifying but great. Billy Butcher is incredible.
Peaky Blinders - when I say I am in love with Thomas Shelby. Wow. What a fantastic show. I didn’t expect to like it, but I finished all five seasons in less than a week because I’m absolutely addicted. Damn you Thomas Shelby and your pretty eyes.
The Umbrella Academy (S2) - wow wow wow wow what an amazing season. I don’t want to spoil anything but it was absolutely fantastic.
Rewatches:
Lost - my favourite show of all time, and my favourite series finale of all time. Fuck what people say, Lost is brilliant and I would die for this beautiful show.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine - what an all around great time. I just love it so much.
Roseanne - ah, old school Roseanne. My actual favourite sitcom. Y’know, the one that was my entire childhood, basically made me who I am today, only for me to find out that the actress that played my actual idol was a racist. Yeah, that one. It was nice to ignore that though and love my favourite show regardless.
Scrubs - I just watched it for the first time just before quarantine, and decided to watch it again during. What a brilliant show. It means so much to me. Also, Perry Cox is one of the greatest, most complex characters to ever exist. And Carla Espinosa is an underrated queen. I’m also listening to Fake Doctors, Real Friends, which is Zach Braff and Donald Faison’s Scrubs rewatch podcast, and it’s great.
Friends - I missed this show, really. It’s still so great. Chandler Bing is amazing and I forgot how adorable he and Monica are.
Movies:
The Philadelphia Story - again, Cary Grant is lovely. Also, Katherine Hepburn is incredible and I love her.
Rocky 1-4 (haven’t gotten hold of 5 yet) - oh, yes, yes, yes. These movies. I love love love these movies. Rocky and Adrian are the couple.
Cocktail - this one wasn’t bad, considering I hate Tom Cruise. I’d watch it again.
Anastasia - I’ve been wanting to watch this one for a while, and it was awesome. I love Meg Ryan so much.
Rebel Without a Cause - this is such a great teen movie. I was surprised about how much I related to it. Also, as if everyone didn’t already know, James Dean is gorgeous.
Thelma & Louise - what a beautiful story about friendship and badass ladies. This is exactly my shit. Yes.
Steel Magnolias - this was such a lovely, sad movie. Oh, I love it.
The Wedding Planner - this one set me on a JLo kick, because this was such an adorable movie. Her and McConaughey were adorable.
Maid in Manhattan - ah, JLo, you did it again. I loved this one so much. Loved it.
Save the Last Dance - I hadn’t heard of this one, but I saw Julia Stiles and immediately clicked. That was the right choice. This movie was so cute, oh, I loved it.
All the President’s Men - me geeking out over journalism, politics, and history for two hours? Yes please. Also Robert Redford is gorgeous and I never found him that attractive before.
Terms of Endearment - oh, break my goddamn heart why don’t you. Fuck, this was so heartbreaking. I loved it.
Taxi Driver - a garbage movie for garbage people. Imagine if Fight Club just like, wasn’t a good movie. That was the vibe of this one. God, don’t waste your time.
Singin’ in the Rain - what a lovely, fun movie. All three main characters were great, the songs were awesome, the relationships were fun, what more can I say? Oh yeah, Gene Kelly? Damn.
His Girl Friday - overall an okay movie, but it was pretty funny, and Cary Grant. Dear god, I love me some Cary Grant.
Good Will Hunting - oh, fuck me, this movie. How dare you make me feel such things, Matt Damon. What an incredible movie. It made me, a person who hates Ben Affleck, not hate Ben Affleck for two whole hours. It made me cry, of course. Robin Williams, dammit. Wow. And Matt fucking Damon was so brilliant, and so was Minnie Driver, and they were so good together, and I could gush about this movie for days.
Set it Up - as of now, I’ve watched this movie, oh, nine thousand times?? How perfect is this movie? All of the actors are great, and I’d watch two hours of just Charlie looking at Harper. Ugh. The way he looks at her gets me every time.
The Old Guard - I’m not usually a fan of action movies but this one was so good !! I loved the plot and just the idea in general, and all of the characters were so awesome. It was a really great movie.
Rewatches:
Tombstone - I could watch this movie every single day. Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday might be my favourite performance ever. I can quote almost this entire movie, and I don’t even like westerns.
Gladiator - I hadn’t watched this in a long time, and I knew it was good, but it was so, so, so good. Wow.
Memento - maybe my favourite movie ever. Definitely my favourite mind-fuck movie. So cool, and just. . . god, it’s such a good movie. Hats off to you, Chris Nolan.
The Usual Suspects - this is one of my favourite movies of all time. Everyone is so good in it and that ending is incredible. I could gush about this movie forever. Dean Keaton deserved better.
This is the End - such a funny movie, wow. Anything with Seth Rogen and James Franco is good. Jay Baruchel, wow. I adore Jay Baruchel.
You’ve Got Mail - in my books, the best romantic movie ever. I watch this shit constantly. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks are so adorable together. Add in Dave Chappelle, and it’s perfect.
Unbreakable, Split, and Glass - M. Night Shyamalan is always good and I’ll fight anyone on that. These three expecially. He’s the absolute master.
Back to the Future 1-3 - if I’m being honest, they’re not the greatest movies, but fuck, aren’t they, though? They’re cheesy as hell, but absolutely iconic and I still love the hell out of them.
The Neverending Story - this is the weirdest goddamn movie I’ve ever seen but the nostalgia hit me harddd. This movie was my whole childhood and even though it’s absolutely disturbing, it’s still great.
Talk to me about any of these!! I’m desperate to rant about my favourite movies and tv shows, and if you are too, feel free to reply to this post or message me privately! I’m always ready to talk and gush about things I love.

Chapter 15: The Journal and Roscoe’s Wedding
Over the course of three days since she last saw Buster, Gail heard those knocks again, but this time it was a delivery man who brought her flowers. They were nicer than the ones she got before. On the note attached to the bouquet, she read the message; Dear Gail, it was I who’s the chump when I realized that I should’ve got you something when I came over. No matter, it’s not too late anyway. Wishing you the best of health and hope you had plenty of rest! - BK. Grabbing the vase and filling it with flowers, she smiled at his gesture. Then another day, Gail went out to the movie theater to see The Iron Mule, as Buster had recommended. She hadn't been in a cinema for a while because she was busy working in a background role and so much else was going on. When the short played, Gail recognized the featured locomotive, The Rocket Train, from Keaton's Our Hospitality. She thought it was likely due to Arbuckle's connections to his colleague. Seven minutes into the film, an Indian showed up in the frame to board one of the coaches. When Buster mentioned looking out for that character, Gail wondered he secretly took part as that Indian. She couldn't recognize him underneath the concealing makeup. When the train rolled without the engineer and most of the passengers, the Indian escaped by throwing a rope to the stake, when he made a landing and then performed a somersault when the rope caught up to him, Gail knew that was Buster from his past stunts. He confirmed it when he came over to check on her the next day.
“Yes, I was that Indian fellow for the stunts,” said the comedian, sitting beside Gail at her table. “And you know that Train was one of my films?”
“Right! Our Hospitality!” She chirped in. “I knew as soon as I saw it.” Gail was grateful that he called before to confirm another visit before lunch break is over. Sally had practice, so they wouldn’t worry about her barging in. She had put together cucumber sandwiches for him in thanks for comforting her.
“My team did a fine job building the Rocket that everybody thought it’s a real deal since it looked authentic,” he said taking a bite.
Gail poured herself the last of the milk for the day, “Did you ever think that you would be a film director?”
“Hell, I never saw myself stepping into the film 10 years ago.” He excused himself for using obscenity in her presence. She didn't mind. She drank the milk as he continued telling his story, “My pop never let us go to the flickers growing up. He thought they were a fad.” He continued, “William Randolph Hearst offered us to make a two-reeler based on the comic strip that ran on his papers, but Pop rejected the idea, saying that nobody would want to watch Three Keatons on a bedsheet for a dime. I ended up working with Roscoe some years before that Hearst bastard helped slander his name on the headlines.”
“Just too bad he’s reduced to making cheap comedies,” Gail sighed.
“He’ll get back on his feet. I’m sure of it,” Buster looked at her cast, then to her face, “What’ll happen to you once the cast is off?”
Gail could never be more excited to get the stiff plaster off her arm. Of course, she needed to expand her film experience once she was able to work again. “I could go out looking for background roles again,” she said. “I hope to hear from Mr. Sennett again.”
“I thought you quit working on shorts.”
She reminded him, “If he offered me a leading or supporting role, I will do so. I can always make time for features.”
While Buster was about to say something to her, he noticed something on her couch, “What’s this you got there?” He pointed to a larger book on the coffee table.
Appalled, Gail didn't realize that she left it there, “Oh, it’s nothing- it’s something, it’s not too important- for you.” she carried it with her arm. it then slipped off to the floor. Buster offered to help. The ticket stub was discarded to the floor she picked it up quickly, opened the album, and glued the stub back in its place.
“Ah it’s like a Scrapbook,” he said peeking onto the pages with Gail hiding them from him, “My mother made one of the articles from the time when we performed in vaudeville as The Three Keatons.”
“These are for my eyes only not yours.” She closed her journal and placed it under the table, “We never brought up your parents and siblings. How are they?”
He sat down beside her, “Everyone’s doing alright. Ma and the siblings live together. My brother Jingles works in real estate. My sister Louise is finishing another year of school.”
“What about your father?”
He sighed as he took a pause. He replied, “My Folks are separated.”
Gail gave him a sullen look, “I’m sorry, I had no idea.”
“They aren’t divorced, but it felt strange.” he turned away from her, “I didn’t want to talk about it.”
Gail understood right away that Buster was worried about his marriage. She knew he was an unfaithful husband since the end of last year. What she had learned since moving to Los Angeles is that divorce is common for celebrity couples. Buster loved Natalie, but he's unhappy with her and they’ll likely split up. She would tell him that he married the wrong woman and he shouldn't suffer, but instead, she picked up her journal and told him, bringing his attention back, "I wrote something about you."
Gail opened a nicely written page from her journal with Buster looking over her shoulder. The page said as it followed; Sure, Buster almost dresses like Chaplin’s tramp character. but what differs between him and Chaplin is that he didn’t need a greasepaint mustache or that certain make-up to make him more ridiculous. What he needed is his stone face. I’m sure he knew he could be funny on his own.
“This is nice,” Buster complimented, “You wrote it better than what I read from the critics.”
She smiled, “Oh, thank you.”
She patted him in the back, “I don't know what it's like to have parents split up. I imagine how difficult it must be for you. We don't have to talk about your parents unless you feel like it.”
“Gail,” He placed his hand onto her shoulder, “I still want you in my next film. Although it may not be the leading role you were hoping for, I will make sure your role is valued.”
“I was thinking of asking for a background role, guess you beat me to it!” She giggled, which made Buster smile as it was the first time she had ever laughed in front of him.
When Buster brushed his fingers to her cheek, the sight of his wristwatch enabled him to check it, “I gotta get back to my studio!” they stood up, Gail escorted him to the door as the comedian took one last bite of the cucumber sandwich, he thanked her as they shook hands. Keaton didn’t let it go after they stopped, “May I kiss your hand?”
Gail didn't hesitate when she accepted. Buster tugged her right hand by the fingers as he bowed to have his lips make contact with her hand for a bit before leaving her home in a hurry. Through the window, Gail watched him get into his car and drive off as she waved.
After cleaning the table, she sat down on her couch and turned to a page with a photo of Buster as a child and an old article about the Three Keatons which she had gotten from an old family friend. Gail’s eyes fell on the very hand Keaton planted a kiss on and had her hand to her lips, like if he kissed her.
*******************************
Buster didn’t bring up to Gail that Roscoe was getting married in worry that he might jinx it. His former mentor was going to marry Doris Deane almost two months ago. His first wife Minta filed for divorce in Paris as a result, the divorce was not legally binding for weeks according to French law. So it had to be postponed. The Wedding was held in the home of Deane’s mother. The altar was surrounded by flowers. Buster, appointed as the best man, stood beside Arbuckle as the judge officiated the ceremony. Keaton’s eyes went to Natalie, a matron of honor, holding a flower bouquet. It all made him think the last time the Tux wearing Keaton stood on the same altar as his wife was their wedding day. It was in Long Island, They were very much in love. Buster’s ankle was still recovering while he was standing next to Natalie was wearing a white chiffon dress, pure as she was. Right after the wedding, Natalie was congratulated by her friends and family while Keaton was trying to reach his bride, an incident that became the ending scene to Seven Chances. He then took her by the hand and they went into his car to head back to California. Buster regretted it for not including his parents, siblings, and close friends, including Roscoe. At least he got to be present for the time when his former mentor finally went into matrimony for the second time. Keaton grinned when the groom kissed his bride, having the best thing that happened to his friend since his career went downhill following the accusations for the rape that never happened. When it was time for the photographs to be taken the comedian frowned again to maintain his stone face reputation.
Following the ceremony, the guests retreated to a dinner party hosted by Natalie. there was mingling from guests such as Mr. and Mrs. Schenck, Dutch, Peg, and Mr. and Mrs. Lou Anger.
Buster poured himself a drink from the little table and went outside to clear himself from the crowd.
Keaton took a handful of sips when he heard the groom calling to him, “Here’s to the best man.”
Turning around, he grinned, "I would say the same to you, Chief." he brought another glass, not realizing he already took one, but Keaton grabbed it anyway.
he toasted to his pal, “I wish you and Doris a happy marriage.” At least happier than himself and Natalie.
They clinked the glasses together and drank. Arbuckle noticed his sudden down expression, “Are you thinking of that dame again?”
Buster had told him about Gail every time they met up. “I don’t know, maybe,” Buster said while looking at his drink. “I think she has a crush on me.”
Roscoe wasn’t surprised, “You have a likable face, they fall for you, and you take them to bed next thing.”
“Except we haven’t done anything, we’re just friends.” he had friends that were women, some of them he knew growing up. “Sure we enjoyed each other’s company with her being so compassionate to me. All Nate has done lately is treat me as a prize to show off her friends.” he sipped his glass again, “Still, I appreciated her for being a mother of my boys.”
“Do you like this actress?” he asked, having picked up the glass that buster finished.
“Yes, but I love my wife.” he swirled the liquor when playing around with it, “I already pissed her off a bunch of times. And Gail, she had been through a lot. I cannot be breaking any more hopes from her.”
“The last actress you were with took advantage and almost gave you a black eye.”
“I don’t think Gail would be the person who would hit anyone,” he said while shaking his head. “Besides, she only wanted to be my actress. Whatever happens, at least I had someone to lean on. Besides you Chief.”
“Come on Bus, the dinner is ready.” Roscoe went inside. Before joining him, Buster spotted the moon and imagined Gail’s face on it.

Film Review: Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut (2009)
On the tenth anniversary of the film Watchmen’s theatrical release, I decided to rewatch the film, only this time, I would watch the film’s Ultimate Cut. Whereas the theatrical cut ran approximately 2 hours and 42 minutes (including closing credits), the Ultimate Cut ran at 3 hours and 35 minutes (again, including closing credits). Having watched this film as a teenager and loving it to the point that for a few years, I’d called it my favorite film ever, I went into watching the Ultimate Cut with trepidation; I had feared that now that I was in my adulthood, I might not look so favorably toward the film as I had when I was a teen. I also feared that if I were to still enjoy the film, I hoped that it would not stem from a blind sense of nostalgia and that I would look upon this less favorably anyway. A similar feeling came over me a few years ago when I had rewatched Tim Burton’s Batman.
So what did I think of the Ultimate Cut of Watchmen? i absolutely loved it, and what few gripes I do have with it are so minute that I wished I wouldn’t even have to mention them here. And I can say with utmost certainty that not only did this movie stand the (albeit so far small) test of time of a decade, but if anything, it made me wonder if this film would have been more successful, critically and financially, if it had been released sometime this decade, what with R-rated films like Deadpool and Logan being so successful in both areas.
But enough about all this prelude. What was it that I loved about this film? What I love about this film, as I did when I was a teenager, was something that had been simultaneously praised and criticized even at the time of this film’s release, which was its faithful adherence to the source material and making only the most necessary of changes for it to be at all filmable. The film’s strength stems largely because of the graphic novel from which it is based, as Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ Watchmen is not only considered to be one of the greatest comics of all time, it’s considered a landmark piece of English literature in general such that it, as a piece of the superhero genre, can be studied on serious thematic levels in colleges and universities (I’d cite my sources, but admittedly, I am quite lazy in that regard; but don’t take my word for it, look it up).
The film, like the graphic novel, is set in a fairly realistic world, much like our own in 1985, but with the twist of superheroes existing within it. The story showcases these heroes’ now-outlawed influence on this world, as that influence (namely from Dr. Manhattan) has led the U.S. and U.S.S.R. to the point where nuclear Armageddon is more of a possibility than even during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The plot follows the investigation of one such outlawed vigilante, Rorschach (who, btw, is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction), who is looking into the death of the Comedian, a controversial (to say the least) hero who has been mysteriously murdered. Rorschach’s investigation leads him to a “mask killer” theory that, as time goes on and the threat of nuclear annihilation looms ever so closer, gains more credence as more of his fellow heroes, including himself, are attacked by an unknown powerful figure. With the aid of Nite-Owl and Silk Spectre, two of his former colleagues, Rorschach aims to find out who the mask killer is and ultimately uncover the possibility of that killer’s involvement with the impending global doom.
The film’s plot, like the novel, is given a fair amount of focus and does get a resolution that is as satisfying as it was unexpected (something that Rian Johnson seems to have trouble with when it comes to Star Wars: The Last Jedi). However, both the film and comic’s attention on the plot itself is surprisingly minimal compared to its focus on its own character studies, which is the core strength of both the film and comic. So let’s go into our six lead characters.
1. Rorschach: As I mentioned before, Rorschach has been one of my favorite characters in all of fiction, and here, he is probably given the most faithful depiction on the silver screen. Jackie Earle Haley’s performance as Rorschach is, in my opinion, more Oscar-worthy than something like Black Panther, as it is abundantly clear just how well Haley understood this character. He portrays an incredibly damaged sociopath with an uncompromising view of black-and-white morality so well that it makes me sad that Haley never gets the respect for playing this character as well as Ryan Reynolds does for playing Deadpool, Hugh Jackman for Wolverine, Kevin Conroy or Michael Keaton for playing Batman, or Robert Downey, Jr. for playing Iron Man. My hat goes out to you, Mr. Haley. Your performance here rates 10/10 for me still. :)
2. Nite-Owl a.k.a. Dan Dreiberg: As a teenager, I had an underappreciation for both the character of Dan Dreiberg and for Patrick Wilson’s portrayal of him. While I thought then that Wilson had done a good job playing Dreiberg, I didn’t much care for the character in general as a teen, as I thought that he was just a boring everyman. As an adult, however, I found both the character and Wilson’s performance to be as important as, if not more than, Rorschach and Haley’s performance of that character. Wilson’s portrayal of a defeated, pathetic sad-sack of a human being who has an underlying anxiety concerning the threat of nuclear annihilation is an important emotional anchor point for the film (and comic, of course); as entertaining as Rorschach is, I can imagine that not a whole lot of people can relate to him on a deep level. If Rorschach is the Jack Sparrow of what I can loosely call an adventure here, Dreiberg is Will Turner; you might not like him as much as the guy who gets the attention for his craziness, but you realize you need him as the everyman if you want your story to really work.
3. Silk Spectre a.k.a. Laurie Jupiter: Unfortunately, while my opinion on Nite-Owl had changed, my opinion on Laurie Jupiter, as well as Malin Akerman’s performance, has not. I hate to say it, but she’s essentially the female equivalent of Dreiberg, and while she does have some interesting emotional turmoil going on, I don’t find the character to be particularly likable. And I think the biggest reason for that stems from Akerman’s performance; I find her to be too wooden and bland in her delivery. While Akerman does make the character more likable than in the comic, her eye candy appeal doesn’t distract me from the unconvincing performance that she delivers throughout the film.
4. Dr. Manhattan a.k.a. Jon Osterman: A character, and performance courtesy of Billy Crudup, that I gained more appreciation for, like Dreiberg and Wilson’s depiction of that character. The nihilism and disconnection from humanity that serves as the basis for Dr. Manhattan is one that is properly delivered by Crudup’s deliberately robotic performance, and as a character, he stands out as incredibly unique in fiction. As a fan of Rick and Morty, I find Dr. Manhattan to be what Rick Sanchez would be if he had less personalty and gave even less of a shit about the universe in which he inhabits. A nihilistic character can be hard to pull off without coming off as boring, yet the writing and Crudup’s performance manage to almost perfectly convey someone who maybe layered in disinterest, but who, at his core, still retains enough of a sliver of humanity that he wishes to find any reason to still be a part of it.
5. The Comedian a.k.a. Eddie Blake: Now here is a character that you probably wouldn’t see much of in the superhero genre. As unique as Dr. Manhattan is when it comes to his nihilism, Edward Morgan Blake is probably what would happen if Rick Sanchez were actually grounded in reality and his actions had legitimate consequences. Jeffrey Dean Morgan manages to play a despicable human being so incredibly well that even though he says and does some genuinely heinous things, like attempted rape or shooting a pregnant woman dead out of anger for slashing his face with a broken beer bottle because he wouldn’t agree to raise the baby that he impregnated her with, he still manages to come off as understandable and believably human. This is especially highlighted in a scene where he actually breaks down crying to someone who had been his enemy for decades. It’s a shockingly real depiction of a monster who is still all too human and it’s one that I don’t think would be depicted in the mainstream media these days.
6. Ozymandias a.k.a. Adrian Veidt - As a teen, I thought that Matthew Goode’s performance as Veidt was dull, but now, like with Wilson and Crudup’s performance of their respective characters in this film, I now consider his performance to be an incredibly strong one. While giving this character a much more sinister and menacing air than the more tragic atmosphere surrounding Veidt in the comic, I can now assess that Goode is able to deliver a performance that is quite respectable for someone who can be reasonably argued to be the film and comic’s true hero rather than its villain. I don’t find it to be nearly to the same caliber as Josh Brolin’s performance as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but I’d say it’s at least within the same ballpark.
Now that we’re past the characters, I have to mention the extras that are part of the Ultimate Cut of this film and whether or not I think they add or subtract from the film’s quality overall. I can really only think of two scenes that I thought were unnecessary. The first is one early on that I thought made no sense, in which Rorschach somehow managed to survive being shot by a cop without even so much as flinching; it wasn’t even something that was from the book either, so what the hell? Also, I thought that including Hollis Mason’s death in the film was unnecessary, as it doesn’t really have a resolution, and that’s a criticism that I levy at the comic as well. However, in spite of these somewhat weak bits, I felt that the film’s inclusion of the Tales from the Black Freighter is one that lends some very interesting thematic weight to the film’s main story, just as that did in the comic. The Black Freighter sections were incredibly well animated, Gerard Butler put in a fantastic performance as the Captain, and it was a great representation of the comic-within-a-comic; I have no complaints here, but I do understand why it had to ultimately be cut from the film’s theatrical cut.
In conclusion, the film adaptation of Watchmen, as bolstered through most of the extra material of its Ultimate Cut, is not only an excellent adaptation of its source material, even if Alan Moore didn’t want his name attached to it, but it’s also a great film in its own right that I find to be incredibly underrated. I rate this movie 9.5/10.

WARNING: The following contains heavy semantics. This is the equivalent of letterboxd users breaking down their dumb rating systems. OK, not as bad, but still! You have been warned!
I’m starting a new (and final) iteration of something I’ve done my whole life. A single list of my 50 Favorite Actors, covering the full scope of era and gender. I’ll make a new one from scratch each year as a kind of record. 50 doesn’t leave too much room for sudden or drastic evolution, but the long game is what I’m playing at.
All of my old lists (of any kind) used to be ranked. Frankly, fuck that. I’m all for ranking within narrow frameworks (Top Ten By Year, etc) but general lists like favorite actors and movies? Why do it? Numbers make the whole thing an arbitrary assessment, isolating the actors and films into a misguided hierarchy that doesn’t add any insight or clarity. Lists and rankings are such an oversaturated aspect of culture content as it is, and I’d like to avoid this feeling like just another ranking. The collective group is the thing, the totality of taste, interest, and meaning. Keeping this a singular entity (with one or two caveats) preserves this as a personal journal entry of sorts, a snapshot and not the end-all be-all. It’s a way of capturing my taste in film and the people in it. I’ve put a star next to my ten favorites, and I’ve got a separate long list of people I considered but ultimately didn’t add, and that’s the extent of it.
Growing up, I made favorite actor lists obsessively. When I was around six or seven I would play ‘School’. I was the teacher. My students? The likes of Tony Danza, Christopher Lloyd, Danny DeVito, and John Travolta. I had pages and pages of any actor whose name I knew (the entire casts of Angels in the Outfield and Addams Family Values were represented). I took very careful attendance to make sure everyone was present, calling out each name and imagining that yes, they were there. Each actor received a little check in their row of squares (I made sure I had the checkered graph paper to keep everything orderly and precise).
age 11
Tumblr media
all of these were made at age 11
Then there were the dark days, the days when tween Katie made lists like Top Ten ‘Cutie-Patootie’ Actors (a reference to the Rosie O’Donnell Show, yes, the Rosie O’Donnell Show, seen above). As you can see, the kid from Dennis the Menace topped that one. I also had my constantly revised Top Ten Favorite Actors & Actresses. Five actors from the lists pictured above are also on this current one: Nicole Kidman, Jim Carrey, Winona Ryder, John Travolta, and Michelle Pfeiffer. They were major icons for me then, and they remain so now, 20 years after the fact. They are forever favorites.
Tumblr media
the four quadrants, from 2006 (age 18)
What followed were continuously updated versions of this, covering half my lifetime: Top Blank (at varying points it was 20, 30, and 50) Modern Actors, Modern Actresses, Classic Actors, and Classic Actresses (‘Classic’ accounted for the Hollywood studio era). They were always divided into those four quadrants. I can timestamp the years by who was on them. Simon Pegg at the top? Must be 2008. Katee Sackhoff near the top? I must have been watching “Battlestar Galactica” then. You can find the 2012 versions on this site: here and here.
These categories created considerable grey area, swaths of actors that never really fit comfortably in their group. Those who either featured in films from both eras (Jack Lemmon) or were technically of the ‘Modern’ era but with careers that didn’t really transition into the current (Faye Dunaway). And those ‘Modern’ lists were always much more about the now. I never made room for these actors who qualified as ‘Modern’ but who could be pinpointed to the past. I wanted to feature the up-and-coming, people whose careers I was excited about now! Filmographies I could follow along with as they progressed.
This factor, which meant so much to me then, means nothing re: this new list. For one, I don’t follow current stuff to the degree I used to. 21st century film is less interesting to me (current TV far less so). But I’m really fond of a lot of actors working today, from relative newcomers to tried-and-true character actors to cemented A-listers. The group there was no room for, not by a long shot, were the relative newcomers. I’m an easy lay when it comes to loving actors. But with over a century of performers to choose from, it doesn’t leave much room for the young “oooh I love him/her/them, I can’t wait to see what they do next” ones.
But for the record, the fresher (2010 to present) faces that I’m most invested in are Adam Driver, Elizabeth Debicki, Tom Hardy, Lakeith Stanfield, Kristen Stewart, Jesse Plemons, Nicholas Hoult, and Jonah Hill (whose career trajectory I’m endlessly intrigued by, a man funnier than most of his peers, with the unstable depths of a Chris Penn, whose hyper-sensitivity about being taken seriously and joining the ranks of the prestigious show up on the screen).
The old lists, especially the 50-each ones that totaled to 200 actors, were actually more challenging than this list. Because with so much room, you’re fooled into thinking everyone can be represented. But they can’t; even those lists fill up quick. And now, with just 50 total, it gets down to essentials. There are the favorites, and then the ones who matter most. Oh, I love them? Cool, next! Oh, I love them a lot? Cool, next! Omgtheyaresoamazing? Cool. Next!
There are so many actors whose performances I consistently love or enjoy, that I always look forward to seeing and am often moved by. But there’s a difference between actors who frequently deliver great work, and actors who make something inherently more just by being there, that make me sit up in my seat because what they give either draws out extra engagement from me or they are so distinctive a presence that the fabric of the film/show is thereby altered. But none of this exists without the secret ingredient: that chemical thing that just draws you to one person’s talent and onscreen life more than another.
Tumblr media
The factors are endless. Above is my next tier of favorites, the ones that I didn’t go with but thought about and in some cases agonized (yes, agonized) over whether to include or not.
What do you do when a specific stretch of someone’s work means more to you than most people’s entire careers? Most don’t make it (Patty Duke, Diane Lane, Juliette Lewis, Marlon Brando, etc) But a few do: pre-Dick Tracy Warren Beatty, Eric Roberts in the 1980’s, and Sandy Dennis in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.
What do you do with the actors who are still alive but not working regularly, at all, or at the same caliber they used to? Most don’t make it (Nancy Allen, Tim Curry, Kathleen Turner, Fairuza Balk, Sheryl Lee, etc). But a few do: Jim Carrey, Shelley Duvall, Theresa Russell (a spot that could have been occupied by many that mean just as much to me, but I went with Theresa this time because it felt right), Eric Roberts, and John Travolta.
What do you do with the actors who mean a lot to you but whose careers were so brief that it’s hard to justify adding them over others? Unfortunately, almost all of those actors didn’t make it (Linda Manz, Paula Sheppard, Laird Cregar, Zoe Lund, James Dean, Pamela Franklin, etc). One does: Louise Brooks.
What do you do about the actors you love watching more than most but whose work you aren’t familiar enough with yet? None of them make it (Natasha Lyonne, Yaphet Kotto, Silvana Mangano, Helmut Berger, Dagmar Lassander, Tuesday Weld, etc). There are plenty of films from the 50 I’ve yet to see, but I’ve at least seen enough.
Then there are all the others, the really tough ones. I think about James Gandolfini more and more as the years go by. Harvey Keitel’s performances resonate a lot more as I get older (those defiant eyes, I can often feel him). I can’t believe I didn’t make room for Christina Ricci. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is the defining comedienne of my lifetime. There is only one Carol Kane, Donald Sutherland, Nicolas Cage, Joan Cusack, Parker Posey, Lily Tomlin, Crispin Glover. I get distinct pleasures from watching each of them. Some of my favorite immortals are Marlene Dietrich, Alain Delon, Judy Garland, Bette Davis, Buster Keaton, Cate Blanchett. I’m pretty sure I talk about Jude Law all the time. I will, and have, watched Jean-Claude Van Damme in anything I can find. In recent months I’ve rewatched a lot of key Samuel L. Jackson performances (Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction, Black Snake Moan, Django Unchained), and was newly reminded that he is one of our most compelling living actors. His pervasive and phoned-in presence in every imaginable franchise had led me to forget that. I’ve been hooked on Gene Wilder, Charles Laughton, Eva Green, Cillian Murphy, and still am. It goes on and on and on.
But this is the challenge of it, and the fun of it. My 50 favorites capture my fascination with stardom and long-range careers with eras & reinventions (ex. Crawford, Cruise, Fonda, Monroe, DiCaprio, Farrell, Taylor), physicality (ex. Chan, Ball, Phoenix, Reeves, Olyphant) & commanding physical presence (ex. Reed, Kidman, De Niro, Mitchum), blue moon charisma (ex. Pfeiffer, Russell, Walbrook, Cagney, Reed, Nicholson), the ones I feel a deep connection to (all of them but especially Carrey, Brooks, & Hoffman) & offbeat god-tier character actors (Dennis, Dourif, Roberts, Black, Duvall) I would take a bullet for.
I start to realize some of the people that aren’t even on this second list: Tilda Swinton, Kate Winslet, Robin Williams, Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Gloria Grahame, Katharine Hepburn, Michael Shannon, Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Jeanne Moreau, Saorsie Ronan, Brad Pitt, Gena Rowlands, Dirk Bogarde, James Mason, Jeff Bridges, Ethan Hawke, Jeff Goldblum, Steve Buscemi, Julianne Moore, Catherine O’Hara, Catherine Deneuve, Juliette Binoche, Charlize Theron, Robert Redford, Julie Christie, Michael C. Hall, Michael Caine, Malcolm McDowell, John Hurt, Paul Newman, Anjelica Huston, Sigourney Weaver (every time I watch her in something I think about how much I love her. Her work in Alien 3 means a lot to me), Elliot Gould, etc etc etc. Hell, Peter Mullan is the only person on either list who appears in any Harry Potter film, and that franchise employed basically every British actor you can think of. Most of these actors have been on other lists in the past. Some you’d always be guaranteed to find there (Binoche, Deneuve, etc). As I type this I am realize I forgot Michael Stuhlbarg and John Hawkes in that second group. At the end of the day it just becomes about knowing who there was never any question about, and going with your gut on the rest.
But these 50 (ok, 52, I cheated, the truth is out!), the ones I ultimately chose, are the actors whose work collectively means more than the rest, my ultimate favorites: the ones I can lose myself in, and then find myself in. Who are yours?

James Agee was a reporter, film critic, novelist, freelancer, and screenwriter. He is best known for the novel “Let Us Now Praise Famous Men,” but he also wrote about Charlie Chaplin, helped revive Buster Keaton’s career, and worked on the scripts for “The African Queen” and “Night of the Hunter,” although my personal favorite is his stunning and still-relevant essay “America, Look at Your Shame!” He somehow got into Harvard despite having terrible grades, probably because they looked at his face. He looks like James Dean would’ve looked if Dean had actually lived. He married several times because of course he did. This sexy Southerner also attended the delicious-sounding St. Andrews School for Mountain Boys, where I can imagine he got up to all kinds of trouble.

Fandom Newsletter #2
Today is Friday, October 5th of 2018 and welcome back to another Fandom Newsletter! You’re provider for all things fandom!
Writers: Atlas, Blackpurrl, Fyne, YoursTruly
Editors: Fyne and YoursTruly
“Good, better, best. Never let it rest. ‘Til your good is better and your better is best.”
- St. Jerome
Let’s get started!
First to YoursTruly with the Hannibal, Horror, Tim Burton, and Marvel fandoms-
Hannibal: Thomas Harris, author of the Hannibal Lecter books, is releasing a new book on May 21st of 2019! The book will not feature Hannibal or any of the characters from that series. This new book will be the first book he’s published in over a decade, his last book being Hannibal Rising which was published in 2006. The book’s cover and title have not yet been released, but it can still be pre-ordered on Amazon and other sources.
Horror: Horror fans are awaiting the next installment in The Conjuring series. The next movie is set to be released next year, the title being The Crooked Man, a character from The Conjuring 2.
Tim Burton: Tim Burton fans are ecstatic about Freeform’s 13 Nights of Halloween being changed to 31 Nights of Halloween! During this time period, Freeform plays many popular Halloween movies, including The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride.
Marvel: Marvel fans are debating the quality of the upcoming movie Venom. It seems there’s a clean split: You either love it or you hate it. A lot of controversy is spreading over one particular scene which won’t be spoiled here, but many people who have already seen it say it’s amazing and accurate to the comics. The movie is not part of the MCU and exists outside of the Spider-Man universe, setting it up for the perfect Venom solo movie. The movie hits theaters this Saturday. I personally think it will be an incredible movie, what about you?
Next to Blackpurrl with the Harry Potter, World News, and Animation fandoms-
Animation: New clips are out for Vivziepop’s Hazbin Hotel!
Harry Potter: The newest movie, The Crimes of Grindelwald, is set for release on November 6th this year. Just one month to go!
World News: Spiked Reports on Sexual Harassment in France. Follow the link to read more.
Now to Fyne with the Supernatural, Sherlock, YouTube, and Spooptober fandoms-
Supernatural - The wardrobe on Supernatural has become a trademark for so many of the show’s favorite characters. Early on, things like Dean’s leather jacket took on a life of its own, playing an essential part of the Winchester storyline. Dean inherited it from John, turning his staple style into a sentiment of how much he idolized his dad. For the first five seasons, the brown leather jacket (which we first see in the pilot episode) was almost thought of as Dean’s superhero attire. Then, in season 6, without even an explanation, the jacket was just gone. Where did it go? Well As it turns out, there was a very real reason for this vanishing act. When the cast was in Los Angeles for a photo shoot, their wardrobe was flown over from Vancouver. In the process, a few items were stolen. Among them was Dean’s iconic jacket, which was worn in so many memorable scenes. Who stole it? To this day we do not know. Since then, Dean’s look has undergone a few subtle changes. At first, there was somewhat of a “normal life”-looking coat that appeared at the beginning of season 6. Thankfully, that fad didn’t last long. Eventually, it changed over into an evolving selection military-style jackets, each perfectly-suited for his character. It’s now hard to imagine Dean without his current signature style.
Sherlock - Did you know Matt Smith auditioned to play Watson? Yes our beloved less down to earth Doctor was almost our very down to earth John Watson. He may be best known for playing a less down-to-Earth Doctor, but before he got the keys to the TARDIS, Matt Smith auditioned for the role of Dr. Watson. Although he can do less eccentric than the role he's best known for, Smith himself admits he'd probably have been a little too skewed to work as Sherlock's foil. Why Smith didn't get the role is kinda obvious when you think about it. Before Doctor Who he had only a handful of TV credits to his name, with his only big screen role. Martin Freeman may not have been the blockbuster leading man he is now, but he was at the very least recognisable to a British audience thanks to The Office.
YouTube - Art YouTubers are currently confusing fans as, unlike last year, the ones participating in inktober aren’t making daily videos. We can’t help but wonder if this is because of the ad-pocolypse and shrinking revenue, or if it is because they simply don’t feel up to it. What are your thoughts?
Spooptober - It is officially Spooptober! Expect creepy fun facts, stories, and tidbits throughout the month of October! This weeks fun fact is - did you know that the average high school student prefers Halloween over Valentines day? Who woulda thunk?
Lastly to Atlas with the Voltron, Movies, And Celebrities fandoms-
Voltron: An interview with Josh Keaton was posted on YouTube. In the interview, he was asked about what he thought about the show ending. He replied, “All of us really love the show. We’re sad to see it go. As for me, I don’t think I’m ready to stop being Shiro.”
Movies: So, um. Live action Teen Titans anyone? No?
Celebrities: Lin-Manuel Miranda is going to play a small role in Mary Poppins Returns.
Now to your weekly movie review by YoursTruly-
Movie review- Spider-Man 3
I’ve seen this movie many times before, and it’s my favorite in the Spider-Man franchise. The movie has a great plot and is throughly entertaining in general. The movie features Toby Maguire, who many people consider to be the best Spider-Man.
Now to Blackpurrl with the weekly trivia fact-
Trivia: A cricket's ears are on its front legs, just below the knees and they have four acoustic inputs. The openings in the crickets exoskeleton that act as ears, lead into chambers inside the legs, which connect to either side of the cricket, allowing sound to pass completely through the cricket.
And back to Atlas with the weekly book review-
Book Review: Cornelia Funke’s Inkheart is a modern day/not-so modern fantasy that will leave the reader on the edge of their seat. With a fantastic plot line and lovable characters, this book is hard to put down!
The comic at the end of the newsletter is brought to you by our very talented Blackpurrl. It’s titled “Atlas Initiation”. That’s all for this week, we’ll see you next week with another Fandom Newsletter!
Signing off,
Atlas, Blackpurrl, Fyne, YoursTruly

Michael Keaton to Return as Batman in DC's The Flash Movie
Tumblr media
The Flash movie is reportedly looking to have Michael Keaton play Thomas Wayne. However, this time around, he's taking on the Flashpoint version of Batman. This has been talked about numerous times, but it was always wild fan speculation and mostly just wishful thinking by everybody who loved what Keaton did with the character. It appears that Warner Bros. and Andres Muschietti are seriously looking to cast Keaton, though, as of this writing, that has not been officially confirmed. If this proves to be true, this is amazing news for comic book fans all over the world.
Michael Keaton first played Bruce Wayne in Tim Burton's Batman over 30 years ago. To many DC fans, Keaton is still the best version of the Dark Knight to ever hit the big screen. When he was originally cast, there were a lot of doubts, but Keaton silenced all critics with his rather intense version of the iconic comic book character. If he ends up in The Flash, it could go on to become the biggest DC movie released thus far, which was something that not a lot of people really saw coming. The actor is reportedly in talks with Warner Bros. as of this writing.
Andres Muschietti has confirmed that The Flash movie will have Flashpoint elements in it, though it will be different from the comics. With that being said, it will reportedly show a timeline where Bruce and Marth Wayne are killed and Thomas Wayne lives on. This is a role that many expected Jeffrey Dean Morgan to take on, especially since he has teased it numerous times, going as far back as San Diego Comic-Con in 2017. There was even another rumor over the weekend that The Walking Dead star was going to come back and reprise his Thomas Wayne role from Batman v Superman.
With the way that the DC movies have expanded over the years, the Flashpoint storyline would allow a lot of creative freedom, which could make fans really happy. It could also set the stage for the future, even incorporating Robert Pattinson's take on Batman and bringing everything together, thanks to the different timelines. If pulled off in the right way, The Flash could be a major game changer for Warner Bros. and their DC properties, especially with Michael Keaton attached to star as a different version of the Dark Knight.
As for Michael Keaton, one would imagine he'll be addressing these rumors soon, one way or another. The Flash is finally moving forward with director Andres Muschietti and everybody is looking forward to what he has come up with. Keaton as Flashpoint Batman would blow a lot of minds, so let's hope that this ends up happening. Seeing the legendary actor alongside Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher would be pretty awesome, to say the least. The Michael Keaton news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Shance Love Song Compilation
I’ve been listening to a lot of big band/swing/jazz music recently and thought perhaps one or both of the boys were into the classics. I mean, Josh Keaton has an amazing voice, and Jeremy Shada too sings and performs in a band, so I thought it’d be really sweet if Shiro and Lance spent time alone, enjoying each other’s company and serenading one another. (Imagine lots of slow-dancing in the observatory ✌️)
• The Very Thought of You - Ella Fitzgerald • (I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons - Ella Fitzgerald • It’s Only A Paper Moon - Ella Fitzgerald • Sway - Dean Martin or Michael Buble • That’s Amore - Dean Martin • Fly Me To the Moon - Frank Sinatra • Strangers In the Night - Frank Sinatra • Blue Moon - Frank Sinatra • Can’t Help Falling In Love - Andrea Bocelli • Solamente Una Vez - Andrea Bocelli • Cuando Me Enamoro - Andrea Bocelli • L'appuntamento - Andrea Bocelli • I Wanna Be Loved By You - Marilyn Monroe • I’m Your Man - Michael Buble (thanks @teapartytapioca > Shiro to Lance) • Lost - Michael Buble • Always On My Mind - Michael Buble • Home - Michael Buble • Moondance - Michael Buble • A Song For You - Michael Buble • Everything - Michael Buble • Save the Last Dance For Me - Michael Buble • Unforgettable - Nat King Cole • L-O-V-E - Nat King Cole • Orange Colored Sky - Nat King Cole • Dream A Little Dream of Me - Cass Elliot • Crazy He Calls Me - Billie Holiday • Easy Living - Billie Holiday • Beyond the Sea - Bobby Darrin • At Last - Etta James • I Don’t Want To Set the World On Fire - The Ink Spots • Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall - The Ink Spots & Ella Fitzgerald • Fever - Patsy Cline or Michael Buble (both are really good) • Johnny Guitar - Peggy Lee

Notes on Bluprint
Bluprint is a four-piece band hailing from Denver, CO. Members include: Joshua Moore (Vocals and guitar); Keaton Dean (Guitar); Taylor Reid (Drums), and Tyler Stark (Bass).  Their song, “Nothing Left To Lose” brought me back to when I’d go see local bands play in Watertown and Syracuse. A little of The Doppler Effect, mixed with Lacerda; Rosedale, and lyrics bringing me back to the days when I let music be the healing factor. Needless to say, I got a little nostalgic when listening to their songs.
The band has their debut EP coming out THIS SATURDAY, and I can’t wait to share it with everyone already.  The band took some time to answer some questions for us to learn a little more about them.
-------------------------------
NON: How did you all meet? How/when did the band start?
Bluprint: This band started the Summer of 2018 but we did not release music until December. We spent all of that time writing and recording our first record "All I’ve Done". Josh, Tyler, and Taylor played in a band together in Chicago. Once they all made the trek out to Denver they met Keaton in the local scene out here and knew they wanted him as the guitar player for Bluprint. NON: What would you describe your style as? What drew you to this style?
Blueprint: Half the time its alternative rock, but we hear some Pop Punk in it as well. What really drew us was our early love for bands like Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco.. then we started listening to bands like Real Friends and Knuckle Puck and that shaped our more modern Pop Punk sound.
NON: Who are some of your influences? (As a band and individually)
Bluprint: Always a loaded question. From The Eagles to the Beatles, Rush, Cartel, Switchfoot... you name it. We listen to a ton of different music and we feel as though that comes out in different parts of our songs. Hit us up on our personal socials to chat about this! (Click their names in the intro for their personal Instas!)
NON: What is the music scene like in Denver?
Bluprint: Its amazing! Its treated us better than we could have ever imagined. We couldnt think to call anywhere else home for Bluprint.
NON: How did you come up with the name, Bluprint?
Bluprint: Josh has this name stuck in his head for what seemed like years. This music was his blueprint to his life and he wanted that to reflect in the name. NON: You have a single coming out on July 20th, called All I've Done. Could you tell us a little about the writing process for it/describe the song a little? (I screwed up and meant to put EP)
Bluprint: Our EP "All I've Done" is coming out July 20th! This Saturday! This was a collection of songs Josh wrote last summer about the things he was going thru, and what he had experienced so far in life. Everyone has a story and he wanted to put his onto a CD to share with the world.
NON: What would be your dream venue to play?
Bluprint: Red Rocks! As locals to Denver now we dream about this all the time.
Shout Outs- We want to shout out Dang'o, The Backseaters, and Silver & Gold for being awesome and playing our EP Release party. We also want to thank Andrew Berlin at The Blasting Room Studios for being a G and recording this EP with us.
