I don't think Jonny and Alex will be playing Jon and Martin in The Magnus Protocol... I think they're going to be Don and Marvin, two normal men who are definitely not wearing fake beards and have absolutely nothing to do with the paranormal whatsoever, nope, no sir

🖊️ your turn :>
OK SO i have this guy ezekiel (might rename?? i’m bad at names and indecisive) (any pronouns) who i made for the sole reason of becoming obsessed with the concept of the movie memento and wanted to make an oc to play around in the space.
so basically they are an amnesiac detective, but specifically the flavor of amnesia where they can’t form any new memories after a certain point. it involves a lot of writing notes to themself and going along w stuff. i especially want this guy to just be REALLY good at committing to the bit, and sometimes being a bit of a compulsive liar and acting like she knows exactly what’s going on. she’s also very willing to lie to herself and give herself fake notes and put herself in Situations if she thinks it’ll help her achieve her goals. knows herself really well and likes talking to herself and messing with her own head.
he literally has zero actual plot. someday i’ll write a cool mystery for him to be inserted into (plus he needs like. a backstory and goals), but for now i’ll just put him in fancy outfits
a painting of them below :]]

a/n —hey all! hope ur doin' well, drink water if you haven't! have this as a treat. it's 2k and some more but i cant be bothered to check for specifics. (p.s sorry if the tarot aspects of this are wonky! i did my best to research and i pulled reference from my sister's experience with tarot cards/reading.)

Dazai Osamu x GN!reader
Tags— 22/ada dazai, flirting?, pre-slash, don't question why reader's given a key, reader works under ango but he's also they're dad figure, it's a whole thing, mentions of sskk though not explicitly platonic or romantic, take that as you wish, dazai's infuriating habit of burying feelings and then one day he'll die
CW/TW— dazai. (/j, none i can think of.)
note — reader's ability in this is based on one that my friend chose for our self-ship au. "Teacher of Truth by Saneatsu Mushanokoji: The user can employ tarot cards to gain insight into the past, current, and possible future situations. The user needs to know what each of the cards mean in order to properly interpret what they say." it's from a post on tumblr, but I couldn't find it for the life of me! i'll credit if i can. anyway, it's been tweaked a little so i'm here to explain. in this, reader can choose to use their ability during a reading or not, but the tarot cards are always personal to them. people they know will sometimes show in the cards if they're important to them.

The next time Dazai sees you, it’s well before the ADA opens for the day. He’d admittedly had a rough night—sleep evaded him like always, and he hadn’t had dinner because of his own laziness. His futon was impossibly comfy. How was he meant to part with its loving warmth?
The Door to the agency creaks open, the sound not unlike the groan of the cafe floorboards only steps away. One of Dazai’s favorite activities was purposely seeking out the creaky floorboards and dancing on them so loud Kunikida would have to berate him, of course. He was intimately familiar with the annoying sounds this old building could make.
The office is darker than during working hours, but he notices the meager amount of lights still switched on. Distantly, he knows Kunikida would’ve blown a gasket about the electric bill if he had found them still on. He takes a step into the room-
Something rustles. Downstairs, an old radio plays a song he does not recognize. Pigeons flutter and coo from outside the window.
Somebody was in the agency, and had it been any of his fellow detectives, he’d have known.
“Hmmm, what’s this,” he mutters absently, volume low enough to alert whoever it was had decided to trespass.
”Dazai-san?” a soft voice calls, and Dazai pauses for a moment. A short, hollow sound follows—cards shuffling. He bites the inside of his cheek. How curious.
”Last I checked, you don’t clock in with the rest of us measly agents. Surely Ango’s fuming by now?” He hums, stepping into view of you. you’re sat at Atsushi’s desk, bag perched on top of Atsushi’s empty report trays. Dazai almost smirks at the sight— silly Atsushi, always rushing to complete everything in a timely manner. One day, he’d get him to turn them in later, hopefully months later- like he did.
”Hm, no. I clocked in earlier, but Ango wanted me over here early. Something about a mission I have to hand over to Fukuzawa-dono. I got a key from him last time, so I just let myself in.” you explained. Dazai pulled his own chair out and collapsed into it, peering down at what your hands were busying themselves with.
He realizes they’re tarot cards. Thick and sturdy under your fingers, you set them up neatly in front of yourself. The backs are a matte purple, decorated with silver details that glint as the sunrise light hits them for just a fraction of a second. The illustrations seem to flicker with movement, almost like snapshots of time shifting through an old camera, frame after frame.
”What’s got you so busy?” he asks, exaggeratingly leaning over to look at the cards. You laugh and smile, expression wobbly. He notes the change. You briefly shake out the bracelet laying on your wrist, almost nervously. You lay the last card on the desk’s surface. Atsushi’s cute cat clock ticks from where it’s placed near his report trays.
“I do readings for the day early in the morning, just in case. Sometimes, I don’t even use my ability.” You explain, keeping your voice low so as not to break the morning peace. Dazai glances at the cat clock. Soon, the secretaries and Kunikida will clock in and begin their work day. He focuses back on you and grins, intrigued.
“Anxious, then? I guess the ability to see the future will do that to ‘ya.” Dazai sighed, crossing his legs and resting his chin on his hand. He was content to watch you finish setting the cards down in a formation he admittedly did not understand.
” What does that one mean?” he says, pointing to one of the cards. Its flickering surface shows a woman with mint-colored hair pulled up into a bun. Behind her, there’s a black mass, and she seems to be standing in a graveyard. There are two Xs at the top of the card. You redirect your attention to the card he’s hovering his finger over and smile.
”That’s Judgment—renewal, reflection, awakening, or reckoning. For a personal reading, it would mean going through a period of self-evaluation or maybe even trying to understand the people around you and your situation more.” You explain, seemingly done with the spread and setting down the other cards nearby. Dazai purses his lips.
”Sounds gloomy. Lame!” He huffs, upset by his choice. you gasp and narrow your eyes.
”Don’t call them lame! You’ll piss them off, Dazai.” You hiss, smacking him on the arm. Dazai grins and leans closer, smile growing coy.
”Really now? And how exactly does one do that?” Dazai prods. You stick your tongue out and cross your arms.
“Not telling. Now shut up and let me do my reading.” You grumble, eyes flicking over the cards. Dazai whines and throws himself forward, almost shoving you off of Atsushi’s chair.
”Dude!” You yelp, hands scrambling to grasp his coat as he rights himself. Dazai grabs you by the shoulders and shakes, intent on being the biggest possible nuisance.
”That’s boring! Do your reading laterrrr; it won’t matter, right? Ne- do a reading for me! I wanna know my future,” He begs, grinning. You blink and scowl, pushing him away.
”First off, it would matter. Doing a reading later would be a completely different outcome. Just wait. All I have to do is interpret these. I’ll do yours after.” You grumble, adjusting their sleeves and settling back into the chair. Dazai harrumphs but settles into his own chair to watch you silently read the cards.
You focus back on the cards, and Dazai settles himself by watching you idly. You’re dressed in what you always wear to work, but it’s casual enough to know doubt have been breaking the dress code had you not been working under Ango for so long.  There’s a small scrunch to your nose as you focus on your task, and Dazai can spot how you run your tongue over your teeth in thought. Dazai looks away pointedly. Taking a few breaths, he forcibly clears his mind. How odd.
”Okay, done.” You hum, straightening and starting to pick up the cards. He shifts so his whole body is faced toward you. You take gentle care of the cards, putting them back into the deck.
”Why do they flicker like that? You aren’t using your ability,” he asks, curious about the shifting images on the cards. You shrug.
”Don’t know. It happens no matter what deck I use, though I prefer using this one. The images just shift into the same ones most of the time, though some have changed over time.” You explain, shuffling the cards. Dazai reaches out and hovers over your hand before poking the back of it gently. You let him despite knowing the outcome.
The images on the cards still lying on the table flicker, completely uninterrupted, even as Dazai feels the shiver of his ability eating away at yours. He hums and pulls away. He hadn’t been paying attention when he jostled you earlier, but you were right- they were unaffected.
”Strange, but not unheard of. Some ability effects aren’t considered active enough for my ability to erase.” Dazai says, allowing you to continue. you finish and present him with the deck, pulling away when he goes to take them.
”Don’t be mean to them. They’ll be mean to you. You can’t even think anything negative; they’ll know. You’re gonna cut the deck in 3, okay? We’ll do a simple reading.” you explain, and only once Dazai agrees (crosses his heart and hopes to die!) is he gently handed the cards.
”What do you want to read? We can focus on love, or money, or your career, things like that.” You say. Dazai ponders for a moment before sniffing, mouth settled into a pompous pout.
”I want to know if someone will finally be interested in a double suicide with me.” He huffs. You scoff.
”You’re insane. Okay, so love. Think about that while you cut them.” You nod, giving him the go-ahead. He runs his fingers over the well-loved edges and slots his thumbs through the deck where it feels right, setting the individual cuts down on the desk before them. He tries to take it as seriously as possible, though thinking about love has always made him squirm and itch beneath his skin.
You reach over once he’s done and clear your throat, carefully picking the top cards on each deck and laying them out in front of him. On the left, the first card flipped is a wheel, seemingly in the sky and surrounded by clouds. The clouds float by calmly, though Dazai can’t find anything particularly personal to you the way some of the other cards would show.
It’s made a little more difficult considering the card’s orientation- upside down.
You hum at it before moving on. The card in the middle is revealed, and this one piques his interest. He grins a little at the image. Two figures hold goblets in their hands, strings of power rising from the cups and meeting above their heads to form a Yin and Yang sign. The figures are startingly familiar- one dark-haired, the other light-haired. Accents in their hair match each other, silver and black clashing and melding nicely. This one’s facing right-side up. The image flickers to show the energy that swirls around, occasionally circling their respective holders.
The last one flicks onto the wooden desk with a hollow sound. The image is soft, not unlike the first one with the blue sky. A sun takes up the upper half, rays pronounced against the sky. Ttheire’s a little kid in the illustration, their beaming face scrunched up in happiness. There’s a flag clutched in one hand, with the other gripping onto the mane of the white horse they’re perched upon. Sunflowers frame them, peaking over the illustrated garden wall behind them.
It’s an endlessly endearing picture, and from the smile, he has a feeling he knows who it is. Like the last one, it’s right-side up.
You settle your chin against your palm, leaning on the table with a hum.
”That’s….a really nice reading, actually.” You move to point at the cards. Dazai sits patiently with his hands on his lap. Nothing more fascinating than seeing someone in their element, he supposed.
”That first one is The Wheel of Fortune. Upside down, it’s a little darker. It represents your past,” you pause, looking at him for a moment. “I think for you, it’s focused on the feeling of helplessness—lack of power or control…like you had love but couldn’t control how and when you lost it,” you say, your voice soft. Dazai fights to ignore the discomfort building in his throat.
”Well, what can I say? My dark past haunts me,” he bemoans, and you huff a soft laugh. You move on to the next card- the cups. You look a little embarrassed by this one.
”This one is the present. Two cups represent…well, partnership. More specifically, the realization of a new partnership. This one can be pretty romantic. I guess you’ve got something to look forward to soon,” you say, pointedly ignoring the images of his two kohais. He grins, sparing you of the teasing. He didn’t know how well you even knew Akutagawa- but it was amusing to see everyone could see what those two denied vehemently.
”The last one is the future. You got The Sun, which is actually really sweet.” Through your embarrassment, Dazai watches a sweet smile grow on your face. He matches it easily.
“It means joy and success, for you in particular. It means…whatever or whoever your two cups is for, you’ll be very happy together.” You say, and Dazai sighs wistfully.
”Maybe someone will finally want to commit suicide with me! This news might keep me alive a day longer just yet,” Dazai coos. You groan and take a deep breath, seemingly ignoring him as you duck your head down and then start to put the cards back.
”You better hope you didn’t piss this deck off, Dazai.” you huff, glaring. Dazai pouts, cradling his face in his hands.
“What?! I followed all your rules; I would never,” he whines. You flip him off and busily tuck the cards into a soft leather pouch. He lets his hands drop and watches for a moment.
”Thanks for the reading,” Dazai says, his voice back to normal. You glance at him and smile.
”Yeah, no problem. It’s nice to read without my ability once in a while,” you admit, expression soft. He grins. Something stirs in his chest.
”You can read me whenever you want, lovely.” He purrs jokingly. You startle, flushing. You glare and kick him with your foot.
”Don’t say shit like that,” you mutter. Dazai whines out a laugh, having settled on teasing you until he could see the smoke coming out your ears.
Before he could continue, the door creaks open, and the overhead lights flick on. Multiple people come shuffling in, and Dazai can hear Kunikida conversing lowly with Fukuzawa. The secretaries also file in, chattering contently amongst themselves. Fukuzawa and Kunkida pause only to greet them both. you wave politely, and Dazai salutes them both.
you blink your eyes to adjust to the light now flooding the room. Dazai huffs and stands with a groan.
”Alright, I’ve got five minutes to get out of here. You’ll be going in to see Shachou, right?” He asks, stretching. you stand and nod, giving him a look.
”Where are you going?” you ask, picking up your bag. He groans at the way his back pops as he rights himself from his stretching.
”Home. I only came here 'cause I was bored. But in the long run, it’ll be a lot funnier if Kunikida’s mad all morning when I don’t show up~” He snickers. you shake your head, a smile pulling at your mouth.
“You’re so lame. See you, then.” You sighed, heading down the hall Kunikida and Fukuzawa had disappeared down.
”And yet you love me. ‘Till we meet again,” he calls, pointedly ignoring the yell you let out.
”Whatever!” you yelped, and Dazai let the agency door click closed behind him.
He grins. Curious indeed.

Connections Pt. 4
Tumblr media
Pt: 1 2 3 4
~ Summary: Set in post-revolution Detroit, You've been assigned to the recently developed Android Crimes Division; and it's already off to a rough start.
Pairing: Connor x Reader
Word Count: 1.2k
~
That night might as well have been branded into your brain. The night of the revolution.
You were drunk on emotions and adrenaline. You and your favorite android had gotten into an argument about the deviants and whether you were on the right side of history. You’d followed Connor into Jericho, intent on stopping him from making that huge mistake you knew he was en route to. You picked out his ridiculous beanie and human disguise in the sea of androids, but you lost him as quickly as you’d found him. Then the ship exploded, and you didn’t know if he’d even made it out.
You’d somehow managed to find your way home through the chaos that was Detroit that night. Every liquor store was shut tight, and all you had was cheap beer. Safe to say, you weren’t in the mood for that. You’d crashed on the couch and barely managed to turn the news on before exhaustion overtook you.
It was around 3 in the morning when a hurried knock woke you. Groggy, you pushed yourself up and waddled your way to the door– Upon opening it, you found a certain brunette. He was now stripped of his human disguise and stood before you in his standard suit and tie.
Few words were spoken before his lips found yours, his hands landing on your waist and backing you into your home, his fingers sliding under your shirt. His synthetic breath hot against your skin as he kissed down your neck. Your hands found their way into his hair–
“Detective?”
Your face flushed as you met Connor’s eyes, “Sorry- What?”
“We’re here.” His eyes shifted out your window, and you followed his gaze.
After the revolution, Markus had petitioned to convert an abandoned apartment building into an all-android facility. Several months and several donations later, he opened Elysium. Elysium was the modern-day Jericho, a place where androids could feel safe. Many weren’t ready to enter society on their own quite yet. Not that it was an easy thing to do anyway. Detroit was still adjusting to integrating androids into its daily life.
You swallowed harshly as you got out of the car, trying to calm your heart rate before Connor asked any questions. The android came to stand beside you as you took in the building, his arm brushing against yours. You subtly took a step to the side, putting distance between you.
“What’re the odds he’s here?”
“I don’t know who else would give him a place for all those pigeons.” Connor hummed and pulled the entry door open, “Shall we?”
“I suppose we shall.”
The lobby was warm and homey. You had a gut feeling North was responsible for the decor. Her ability to make a room feel inviting was honestly impressive, considering how confrontational she was. You’d met her a handful of times while working with Markus. She seemed sweet, but she probably wouldn’t hesitate if you crossed her. Connor had told you vaguely about North’s experience with humans; you really couldn’t blame her for being distrustful.
Markus stood waiting for you at the front desk, his face lighting up as he caught sight of you and pulled you into a hug.
“Glad you could make it,” he said, a smile spreading across his face.
“I appreciate your willingness in this case, Markus. I know it isn’t easy,” you replied.
Markus gave a small nod. “It’s easier for me than others. They’re still uneasy. Rupert is on the roof. Don’t take this the wrong way, but you should wait here, Connor.”
Connor’s expression shifted into a frown, but he nodded nonetheless. “I understand.”
You placed a reassuring hand on Connor's shoulder. “We won’t be long.”
Markus led you to the elevator, and the two of you stood in silence as the machine ascended through the floors.
“I trust Connor,” Markus began.
“I know,” you interjected.
“The others aren’t so forgiving, especially those who came face to face with him.”
“Markus, I get it,” you assured him.
The elevator dinged as the doors opened to the roof, and you were suddenly bombarded with the sounds of cooing pigeons.
“Connor said he was friendly with birds, but I really didn’t expect this-”
Markus let out a soft laugh as the two of you stepped out, “You’ll get used to it.”
An android, who you could only assume to be Rupert, stood in a flurry of pigeons, tossing out handfuls of birdseed– His face obscured by a baseball cap.
“Rupert!” Markus called, effectively catching the others' attention.
As the two of you approached, you were finally able to make out his features. There was a faint discoloration around his nose, almost like a scar. You’d seen this android before, briefly in the evidence room.
After the revolution, Markus had asked for the androids in evidence to be turned over to him. You had assumed that they were given proper burials; you definitely didn’t expect him to repair the ones in better condition. The deviant leader's earlier request wasn’t just about Connor being an off-putting site.
“Hi, Rupert. I’m a detective at the DPD. I wanted to get your input on something,” you greeted.
Rupert looked to you from Markus, his eyes sweeping over your form before he turned to you.
“You’re Connor’s friend.”
You paused briefly, carefully choosing your words. "We work in proximity to one another, yes.”
“Is he with you?”
“No, no he isn’t.”
Rupert visibly relaxed at that, “What do you need to know?”
“I specialize in android crimes. Currently, I’m investigating what we believe to be a serial murderer,” you explained, pulling a file out of your bag, “The most recent victim had this symbol left on their arm.”
You extended the photo of the labyrinth to Rupert, watching his reaction closely.
Rupert’s features hardened as he examined the photo, “A labyrinth? Oh RA9, you don’t think I did this?”
You shook your head, “No, no, of course not. I just know you’re familiar with the symbol. I was hoping you could give me insight into possible connections.”
“In Greek mythology, The Labyrinth was a maze commissioned by King Minos and designed by the architect Daedalus. I’m unsure of how this connects to your case, Detective,” Rupert frowned, “I’m sorry I can’t be of more help.”
You pursed your lips as you tucked the file back into your bag, “Thank you for your time, anyway.”
The elevator ride back down felt suffocating. The awkwardness between you and Markus stretched on endlessly. It wasn’t his fault. It felt like every string you followed in this case led to a dead end. You were stuck in a labyrinth of your own.
Connor was on his feet the moment you stepped into the lobby.
“Well, what’d he say?” he asked, urgency lacing his voice.
"Nothing," you replied curtly, brushing past him without a second glance. Connor furrowed his brows as he followed you out of the building.
“Detective-”
“Can you run that quote from the files on my computer? The one about beatings and iron bars.”
Connor paused, his LED flickering yellow as he searched.
“It’s a quote from a Greek mythology retelling. Spoken by–”
“Daedalus,” you finished for him, halting in your steps and meeting Connor’s gaze. “It seems our unsub has a recurring theme.”

Hey, I have an OC question! ^^ What are your OC's (Or at least- Poppy, Shiny, Terry, Henry, Ben and Moony's) favourite animals?
Oh I like this question! I'm gonna go ahead and do all of my OC's for this one ^^ starting with the WFRR OC's since there are so many of them XD
Poppy: Well, we know she's fond of insects, though I don't think they are recognized as animals? So I'd say she also likes ducks. Especially the ducklings (I blame that one convo we had. You know which one XD). When she goes to the park, she always brings a bag of duck friendly food for the birds- and she almost always gets a flock surrounding her 😂
Shiny Weasel: Hm... I'm gonna say it's a cross between ferrets and cats. She doesn't own any pets, but she thinks some of the strays in her neighborhood have adopted her for free food, and Shiny has grown a soft spot for them XD she'd love to get a ferret someday ^^
Terry Ratt T: Snakes. Not really an explanation, he just thinks they're cute, funky guys, "They don't have arms and legs. They do everythin' with their body. Move, eat... They're pretty funny like that."
Henry Foxworth: Hm... I'm gonna say he likes chickens. Not even because it's a fox thing, he genuinely likes them. I think he might have wanted to start a farm at some point in his life before he took scamming as a career path.
Moony Wolf: Ok hear me out... It's bunnies. Even before he started dating Poppy, he's liked rabbits. At first, it was just a part of his predator mindset. Rabbits = food = happy. And when he started working on himself, he felt guilt and felt like he had to make it up to the little critters somehow (Poppy specifically, but A. He didn't know where she was at the time, and B. He figured non-sentient rabbits could be like a practice run, or stepping stones toward the right direction). So he tried to volunteer at animal shelters around Toontown, and ironically got along best with the rabbits (and the dogs course). One adoption and a relationship with his former co-star later, and it's cemented in Moony's mind that rabbits are the best animal (he named his pet Bunny Cake btw)
Ben Cottontail: Hm... Hard to say in all honesty... I think he might like fish? Like maybe as a kid, Ben had a pet goldfish or something, so he's more familiar with fish.
Ok, onto my other OC's XD
Betty Locera: Dogs. And canines in general. Betty would be the best dog mom. She's already a more outdoorsy gal anyway! (*cough* @marshmallow-biscuit-blog Betty would fricken love Boyyo. Joe can dump the dog on her if he needs a dog sitter. Or just a break)
Detective Sketch: Pigeons. Pigeons have been a constant presence in Sketch's life. Watching them land on their windowsill in the orphanage. Seeing them flying around the city. Pigeons kind of bring a sense of childhood nostalgia to Sketch ^^
Prism: She can't pick just one. There are so many amazing animals in the night dimension, and even more that she's read about in the waking world. How can she choose!? Though I do imagine she has made friends with an eatier, a nightopian creature I invented, named Mercedes (I should post about Eatiers now that I think about it 🤔)
Well, I think that about covers it. Thank you so much for sending this in! I loved it ^^

Hunter's Prey Pt1: Slasher! Rob Lucci X Reader
Tumblr media
______________________________
Sorry for only posting on Friday, i have been very tired this week but I've only got one exam left so I'll try not to post so late.
Warnings/Tags:
Modern AU
Mentions of killing people
Slight mention of violence
Stalking
Kidnapping
______________________________
Water Seven, a popular beach town known for its ship building it was a bustling town with many busy people living their daily lives, yet there was a dark shadow that loomed over that town...
The leopard. A feared killer on the loose known for hunting and killing his prey just like a leopard. He stalked his victims during the night when no one could see him and was gone in the morning the only thing left behind was the dead corpse, covered in claw marks and bruises around the throat...
Reader POV
I placed the cup of coffee down next to Paulie as he read the latest newspaper. I handed out the coffee's to the rest of the Galley La crew and handed the last one to Rob Lucci. I had been working at Galley La for over two years now and had gotten very close with everyone except for Lucci. He was always quiet and only spoke through his pet pigeon Hattori. Lucci was quite anti-social and only ever really talked to Paulie and from what I heard, even the he doesn't talk much and only let's the pigeon talk. He's so mysterious and kinda hot, I just wish I could get to know him more. After giving everyone their coffee I sat down next to Paulie as he sighed and closed the newspaper, "Another person found dead in their home..." He sighed as he read the article about the Leopard's latest kill. "And the police are doing nothing about it!" he said growled as he took a sip of his coffee. "Isn't Iceberg supposed to do something about it? He is the mayor after all." I asked, "Iceberg is trying to keep the town calm during the situation. But he's been hiring the best detectives in he country and still can't find anyone.." Paulie grumbled as he opened back up the newspaper and continued reading.
"And we don't know who this person even is?" I asked, "Nope, no sign of any DNA at any crime scene at all.." Paulie grumbled as he went through the paper. I just looked down and drank my coffee, who could this be? Why would you even want to do something like that? From what I know, the victims have nothing in common: different ages, different genders, different occupations.. It just doesn't make sense! I tried to stop thinking about it and just tried to enjoy my lunch, until I felt a pair of eyes burning a hole in the back of my head. I looked up to see Lucci staring at me, Hattori wasn't talking so I didn't understand why he was glaring at me, usually if someone was staring at me for no reason I would stare back until they were uncomfortable but, the way Lucci stared at me just made me feel... Scared...
He had his usual blank expression on his face but his eyes, they were intense. They were staring at me like I was a gazelle and he was a... Leopard.... No it can't be, Lucci can't be the killer going around town! Sure he's always quiet and no one really knows much about him but he's always just so, chill. He's never shown anger towards anyone, he's never gone quiet or said anything suspicious when we talk about the killer, it just couldn't be him! But why was he staring at me like this? Like he was going to eat me...
______________________________________
After a long day of work I made my way home without getting drinks with anyone this time and collapsed at home exhausted. I put in a pre-made dinner in the microwave and just flopped in front of the couch as I ate. What to watch, what to watch.... News? No that's just depressing. Nature documentary? That's even more depressing.. Oh wait, a horror movie is playing! There's something more interesting. Ah the original Halloween, a classic, I decided to watch Halloween and eat my dinner in the dark. Around the part where Michael starts trying to get into Laurie's house I heard a crash, grabbing a baseball bat I got up and went to investigate. Thankfully it was just my neighbor, he's an old man with arthritis so he drops things a lot. Relaxing again I went back to the living room and put the bat down. I sat back down and continued to watch, or noticing the figure sitting next to me. Before I could react a pair of arms wrapped around my waist and pinned me to the couch. I just managed to grab my bat and swang, I managed to his the person in the face and they let me go. Still holding the bat, I grabbed my keys and ran to the front door. Swiftly unlocking it I opened the front door and was about to bolt, but the person grabbed me again, pulled me inside and shut the door and pinned me to it by my wrists. Now with some light I looked up at the figure.... Oh no....
"LUCCI!?" My mouth was quickly covered by Lucci's hand so he was now holding both of my hands above my head with only one hand, I wanted an explanation but instead of Hattori talking Lucci's mouth opened and he spoke himself, "Your fear is adorable~" Was all he said as he took his hand off my and around my throat, "Now don't scream or I'll rip your throat out..." He said quietly. Lucci, the man that never speaks and let's his pet pigeon speak for him can speak? Not only that but he broke into my house and is threatening me!? What's going on...? I simply nodded to his request and his grip on my throat relaxed but didn't move. "Lucci, what are you doing in my house? How did you even get in?" "I have my ways darling~" he said as he moved his index finger to caress my cheek, a sinister smile growing on his face. "Now, how shall I deal with you darling?~" He said as he squeezed my neck a little tighter, "Lucci please... We're.. We're friends right!? I always buy you your coffee, I always try to include you in after work stuff?" I pleaded but he didn't seem to waver. "Lucci, people are already suspecting you a lot... If you kill me then you'll just give people more reason to believe it's you. And you don't want to get caught right?" This made Lucci stop.
He kept gently squeezing my throat while he thought, then his sinister smile grew again, "You're right, I wouldn't anyone suspecting me now would we? But how do I make sure that you don't go talking about our little encounter now?" he said as he brought his face closer to mine. "Maybe I should just keep you until I know you won't speak~" "But if you kidnap me then they'll still be suspicious!" "I know, that's why you're not getting kidnapped but taking a vacation." Lucci said as he grabbed my phone from my pocket, he texted Iceberg that I would be taking some time off for personal reasons. He put my phone in his pocket then looked back at me, "Now let's get you back to my place where I can keep an eye on you." Before I could try and say anything else he held a rag against my nose and mouth and I almost instantly blacked out, the last thing I saw was Lucci's sinister grin as he still held me by the neck.

From a future chapter of Lost (And Found)
"Come on! This is New York. The city of love and romance and -"
"Pigeons and criminally high rent," Carlos rolls his eyes. "I think you're thinking of Paris."
Liza makes a noise in the back of her throat and grimaces.
"No, Paris is overrated. The food is just okay. The people are all quiet and rude and boring. And the Eiffel Tower is just a big hunk of metal surrounded by people selling tiny versions of it on keychains and snow globes off of tarps and blankets on the ground."
"I think you just described Times Square."
"All the good movie love stories are in New York," she continues, unbothered.
"Because they film them here," Carlos shrugs.
"Oh, come on, Love Scrooge," Liza scoffs. "The first time my mom saw my dad, she was 19. He was her waiter at some dive Italian restaurant. She says that they locked eyes, and swears that everything around her slowed down. Like the cliche. My dad was just turning a corner and it was only for a second, but they both remember it perfectly. What the other was wearing. The earring Mom was wearing. The ketchup stain on Dad's apron. Every detail. That night, they met up for a movie after his shift. Two days later, she was referring to him as her 'future husband'. It's called 'love at first sight' for a reason."
"That's really great for your parents, but I -"
"What was he wearing when you guys met?"
Carlos shakes his head.
"What?"
"When he came into the bar, what was he wearing? Exactly? I remember his face, because, duh. But nothing else."
Carlos opens his lips to retort but then TK walks through the doorway of the bar in the doorway of Carlos's mind and the image hits him hard enough to knock his mouth closed.
Carlos couldn't tell the color of TK's eyes from the distance, but they were still so bright against the dark. Brimming with hope and anxiety and a spark of something Carlos can't quantify.
He remembers the stretched, bit lip as TK scanned the bar. The way his tongue ran back and forth between his gently parted lips.
The clothes hadn't been Carlos' focus, not even close, but he can see them now. The too tight button up short sleeve shirt with these little white designs that are halfway between flowers and faces, mashing together in some modern art style. The sleeves are rolled and tucked ever so slightly, showing off soft skin and smooth muscles. The top two buttons are left undone, the collar hanging open loosely, but with purpose. A silver pendant sways against his chest, over some white undershirt. Dark jeans and shiny white sneakers with stripes that match the color of the shirt finish off the outfit.
Carlos blinks.
He could reason that he saw that outfit, and more, over the course of the rest of the night.
He can't do the same with the exact verse of the Radiohead song he can still hear that was playing. Or the smell of the spilled peach vodka. The feel of the alcohol and soda sticking to his fingers, the rag damp and dripping and tight in his grip.

9-1-1 Season 6 - Constructive Criticisms #8
Lack of Professional Development and Growth
Professional development and growth is important for several reasons but mainly it helps people hone their current skills and gain new ones so they can move forward in their careers.  In real life, people want to develop and grow in their jobs because they don’t want to get bored or be pigeon held into a role for the next 30 years. Since life imitates art, professional development and growth should also be important for 9-1-1’s First Responders but unfortunately, it hasn’t been.
For six seasons, every 9-1-1 First Responder has been doing the same job they were doing in season 1 or after they joined the 118 and Metro Dispatch in season 2 as either a field sergeant with the LAPD, a captain, firefighter/EMT, firefighter/paramedic with the LAFD and an operator with Metro Dispatch.  Even though one main character was offered a promotion in season 2 and two of them were allowed to temporarily fill the 118’s interim captain role, none of them have received job promotions even though two recurring characters were promoted and/or allowed to move on to different roles.
For the last two and a half seasons, 9-1-1 has struggled to keep a lot of their viewers but this shouldn’t be the case since they still have most of the original ensemble cast. While several factors have contributed to viewers no longer tuning in, it’s possible the lack of professional development and growth for main characters is also a factor.  It shouldn’t be unusual for viewers to expect to see First Responders who accept 9-1-1 calls, arrest people who violate the law, fight fires and perform rescues move forward in their careers. However, for whatever reason, the focus over the last two and a half seasons has primarily been on main characters’ personal lives instead of their professional ones.  This is an issue because the longer their professional development and growth is ignored, it's likely more viewers will lose interest.
The TV show Law & Order: SVU has an ensemble cast too but one of the reasons they’ve remained successful for more than two decades is because of the professional growth and development of its’ main characters. Captain Olivia “Liv” Benson didn’t start her career as a captain more than 24 years ago, actually she was a Detective but her professional development has been consistent with her being promoted from Detective to Sergeant, then Lieutenant and now she’s the Captain of the Special Victims Unit.  Other characters on the show were also developed professionally including Odafin “Fin” Tutuola who was a Detective but now he’s a Sergeant and Dominick Carisi, Jr. who was a Detective and a law school student but he’s now the Manhattan ADA.
I completed a blog post during 6A that addressed the main characters lack of growth (linked here) but it included details about both their professional and personal lives.  This post deals solely with the lack of professional development and growth for them as outlined during 6A and 6B.
My eighth set of “constructive criticisms” regarding the lack of professional development and growth for the main characters in season 6 are included below the cut.  Please note criticizing a TV show is NOT a bad thing especially since TV critics have been doing it for decades.  Constructive criticisms are designed to help make something better and they are VERY different from negativity.  A person can offer criticisms about a form of entertainment they spend their time watching and not be negative about it the same way two people can agree to disagree on a topic.  Just because one person liked the season, they shouldn’t expect others to feel the way they do because everyone has their own opinions.  Simply put, two people can have different opinions about 9-1-1 and those opinions can COEXIST since they are not mutually exclusive.
If reading criticisms about the TV show 9-1-1 upsets you, then don’t read below the cut.
                   Warning! ⚠️“Constructive Criticisms” Ahead!⚠️
There are seven first responder main characters and as mentioned above none of them have received job promotions over the past six seasons.  The characters of Athena, Bobby, Buck, Chimney and Hen have been on the show since season 1 while the characters of Eddie and Maddie started in season 2. But they’ve all been in their first responder roles long enough for them to have received a promotion or they should be working towards professional development that should eventually lead to them being promoted.
Each main character first responder is listed below by department and ranks/job positions along with details about their current roles. Also, a section about recurring characters has been included to illustrate how they were promoted or allowed to move to other firehouses while the main characters remain stagnated.
Main Characters
LAPD
Rank Structure (LAPD online training)
Officer I, II & III
Detective I, II & III
Sergeant I & II
Lieutenant I & II
Captain
Commander
Deputy Chief
Chief of Police
Athena – Field Sergeant
In 2x4, Captain Maynard offered Athena a job promotion to Lieutenant on an interim basis in the Northeast Division. During their conversation, the captain said she had applied for a promotion to Lieutenant four times but she stopped applying, then she asked why. Athena said she had been passed over every time she applied only to be told she didn’t have the necessary leadership qualities for further advancement.  After thinking about it for several days, she turned down the promotion because she told Michael her goals had changed from when she was in her twenties since her priorities included her kids and her family. She also told Bobby she liked being a field sergeant because it allowed her to see what was going on in the world and at the end of the day, she could come home and let it all go.
That was almost five years ago, she hasn’t been offered a promotion since and now that she and Bobby are empty nesters, why hasn’t she been offered a promotion again?
There’s no reason she can’t be offered a promotion now, especially since she’s repeatedly shown she possesses the necessary skill set to be a Lieutenant. Also, she can be promoted and still work alone since LAPD Lieutenants can be assigned to specialized divisions and they attend community meetings, teach classes at the academy and they conduct interviews of sworn and civilian personnel. Athena’s never had a performance review in CANON which is ridiculous because she has the leadership skills that can get her promoted and maybe one day, she could be promoted to Police Captain.

Firefighter/EMT
Firefighter/Paramedic
Engineer
Apparatus Operator
Captain I (Engine)
Captain II (Truck)
Battalion Chief
Assistant Chief
Deputy Chief
Chief Deputy
Fire Chief
Bobby – 118 Captain
Bobby’s a good captain and he’s been the 118′s captain for several years but he’s never expressed a desire to be promoted and no one’s been shown asking him if he wants to be anything other than a captain.  In 2x4, during his conversation with Athena, he said he wanted to be on the truck with his team for as long as he could but in 4x12 he told her if they found the treasure, they could think about retiring.  Then they argued in 4x13 after Athena admitted in 4x12 she was offered retirement after she was attacked but she turned it down.
The positions and rank for the LAFD show the next step for Bobby would be Battalion Chief then Assistant Chief but since he hasn’t said anything about wanting to be promoted, could he be preparing for retirement?
Prior to season 6, Bobby wasn’t shown doing performance reviews which begs the question why not especially since everyone on his team is highly skilled?  No one was shown in CANON giving him any feedback on his own performance when there’s a lot that could have been said about it.
If he’s planning to retire, he has a dilemma because there are currently three people who could be considered once he’s gone.  In 6x14, he was shown preparing Chimney to become captain sometime in the near future; however, Hen and Buck also should be considered. Initially, Chimney said he didn’t want to be in the big chair in 6x14 but Buck wanted to be considered in 6x1 and Bobby didn’t even ask Hen before he chose Lucy. Ultimately, he gave the spot to Hen after he spoke with her at the end of 6x1 but he should have asked her first without even considering Lucy especially since Lucy had only been with the 118 for a few months.
If it’s based on years of experience, who will become captain after Bobby leaves, Chimney or Hen?  (Please note, in this instance, Buck wouldn’t be considered since he’s only been with the 118 for six years.)
It would be better if he had CANON conversations with them to determine what they want instead of him assuming he knows.  Also if Bobby’s not ready to retire, what does he want to do?  No one knows since the show won’t even show him talking to other captains or to any of the department leaders.
Buck – Firefighter/EMT
Buck is a great firefighter and Bobby said so himself in 6x1 when he told him nobody goes harder than he does.  However, the issue is and continues to be, Buck wants to grow and advance his career but for some reason, Bobby won’t have the conversation with him. They talked about it in 6x1 when Bobby told him he needed more life experience but that was subjective and based on Bobby’s opinion. After he said it, Buck should have asked him to show him where it states that in the employee handbook.
If Bobby feels like Buck’s not ready to be interim or captain, then as his captain, part of his responsibilities are to help him get there.  In 5x5 when Buck was training Ravi, Bobby didn’t say anything about the way Buck was acting like a tyrant.  Buck had Ravi scared to death but Bobby looked the other way even though it would have been the perfect time for Bobby to remind Buck that when he trained him, he didn’t act like a drill sergeant.  It appears him doing that would have made too much narrative sense, so the show had Bobby make funny faces at the situation instead of having him address the issues he saw happening within his team. Buck put peer pressure on Ravi to perform while Hen and Eddie struggled to work together even though they didn’t have any problems in 3x2 after the Tsunami when they saved a soon to be stepfather and stepson who were trapped on a yacht.
Is Buck ready to be captain right now?  NO! But he could be if Bobby would start working with him and training him.
When it comes to him being a firefighter, Buck knows the job and he knows how to think outside of the box like he did in 3x13 when he told them to “embrace the cross brace” while they were at the bowling alley helping the victim whose arm got stuck.  He said it himself in 2x18, firefighting is the one thing that makes him feel like he matters so he takes it seriously.  The LAFD job positions and ranks show that Buck’s currently a firefighter/EMT but what else does Buck want to do other than become a captain?  Maybe if the showrunner stops throwing women in his face and allows him to focus on his career, he could become a paramedic or maybe he could go to the academy and be a peer group instructor the same way Ravi and Chimney did in 6x14.  Buck has the potential to be a great captain one day but he has to be given the tools and the training he needs to do it.
Chimney – Firefighter/Paramedic
Chimney has been with the 118 longer than anyone else and he reminded Hen, Eddie and Buck about it in 6x14 while they were sitting at the dining table eating lunch.  He’s an excellent firefighter/paramedic who knows everything there is to know about the firehouse.  He’s been interim captain before during Bobby’s suspension from 2x17 - 2x18 and when he wasn’t trying to emulate Bobby, he was good at it.  In 4x14, he stepped up and told the police he was in charge of the fire since Bobby was trapped inside of the warehouse with Ethan Copeland therefore, he knows the job and he knows how to handle difficult conversations with other first responders.
Therefore, it begs the question, why did Bobby wait until 6x14 to tell him he was a great leader when he could have just said it in 6x1 instead of him picking Lucy?  Oh, it appears the answer involves them not being able to use Chimney to promote her in 6x17 when he said he saw Captain Donato coming.  Not sure how anyone saw it coming, especially when the audience couldn’t wait for her to leave the show.
Since Los Angeles doesn’t have a lieutenant’s role in its job ranks/positions for their firehouses, the next level a firefighter can obtain is captain but since there aren’t any other spots for paramedics, maybe Chimney and Hen can be shown working with department leaders to establish an Emergency Services Division (more on this topic below in Hen’s section).  It is ridiculous that Chimney had to wait almost five years for Bobby to recognize his leadership abilities and to encourage him to be a captain again when it could have happened in 2x18.
Eddie – Firefighter/EMT
Eddie’s a fantastic firefighter/EMT and he handles both roles flawlessly.  When he started with the 118, he was already a combat medic and according to Oxford University’s website, a military medic is equivalent to an EMT. Therefore, unless he was promoted to firefighter/paramedic off-screen, he’s still a Firefighter/EMT. In 6x1 Eddie said he didn’t want to be considered for the interim captain role which could mean it’s not the career path he wants to take. Therefore, the question becomes, what does he want to do?  He left the job for five months but he’s back and he’s feeling better so why didn’t his performance review include a question about what he wants to do next?  There are a lot of possibilities but he’s never said anything and no one’s ever asked him if he wants to move up the ranks. If he doesn’t that’s fine but he’s next in line to be a paramedic after Chimney gets promoted to captain.
When is Eddie going to be allowed to take the paramedic certification test?
Since his return to the 118, he’s mostly worked with Hen and Chimney as a paramedic while rarely working in the capacity of a firefighter. He’s been an EMT since he arrived at the 118 so wouldn’t it be better if he became a paramedic now rather than waiting until Chimney’s current position becomes available? Eddie’s the most senior candidate on A-shift to take on the role and he’s the only one who can do it since Julie works on B-shift.  Actually, he gave her instructions in 6x2 when they were at the Happiness Convention and he told the other paramedic in 6x5 what to do when they arrived on the scene of the home invasion. So, unless he’s already been promoted off-screen, what is the issue with him taking the test so his rank will be the same as Hen’s and Chimney’s?
Hen – Firefighter/Paramedic
Hen is an awesome firefighter/paramedic, she was a great interim captain from 6x1 – 6x4 and Bobby admitted it in 6x14 during her performance review. Therefore, it didn’t make any sense for Bobby to overlook her and assume she wouldn’t want to be interim captain just because he thought she couldn’t handle it. She clearly debunked all his assumptions when she told him she already does a lot of paperwork along with the fact that she could handle it.  She handled every emergency they were dispatched to with a level of care and understanding that couldn’t be matched by anyone else so it’s clear the things she learned in medical school combined with her years of experience as a paramedic have prepared her for the job.
Therefore, it begs the question, why didn’t Bobby ask her about her career goals in 6x14 during her performance review?  All he told her was her paramedic certification was about to expire because she hadn’t completed her continuing education hours but he got her an extension.  He said it after he told her she was probably a better captain than he was while she was in the interim role. Also, Buck called her name in 6x18 after Athena called for the captain on the radio so what is the show trying to accomplish here with the possible captain’s role that might become available in the near future?  Are they insinuating Hen won’t want it?
While she was in medical school for two years, she was able to gain knowledge that should be applied in the field but just like everything else, the show ignored those milestones she completed after she dropped out in 6x6.  In 3x16, she performed a risky medical procedure that could have led to the end of her career as a paramedic but it was also the thing that led her to medical school.  Why hasn’t she been allowed to work with the department to implement some of the procedures she learned so other paramedics can be trained to do them while they’re in the field?
It makes narrative sense for her to talk to department leaders about the possibility of changing some of the paramedics’ procedures so they can save lives while they’re in the field.  That way, if they’re ever in a situation like the one she was in before, proper procedures and protocols would already be in place. As mentioned above, she and Chimney are both excellent paramedics and they work seamlessly together so the two of them working to establish an emergency services division that’s separate from firefighters could work. Some cities have those two areas separated and their ranks are listed below.
EMS
Certification Levels (Emergency Health Services Federation and Wikipedia)
EMS Vehicle Operator (EMSVO)
Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Advanced Emergency Medical Technician
Paramedic
Critical Care Paramedic
Prehospital Registered Nurse (PHRN)
Prehospital Physician Extender (PHPE)

Los Angeles Metro Dispatch
Rank Structure (Google sites)
Dispatch Cadet
Operator I
Operator II
Senior Operator
Operations Trainer
Dispatch Deputy Director
Dispatch Director
Maddie – Operator II or Senior Operator???
Maddie’s been a 9-1-1 operator for four years (not five since she quit at the end of season 4 and didn’t return until the end of season 5) but she’s been on the phones without receiving a promotion the entire time.  It’s unclear if she’s an operator II or a senior operator since IIRC, it’s never been mentioned in CANON. When she lived in Boston and after she moved back to Hershey, she was an RN and Sue pulled her off the phones in 3x2 so she could help triage the other dispatchers. Also, in 6x4 she helped connect Lourdes and Claribel with a lawyer who could help them after Lourdes had been domestically abused.  Maddie possesses a lot of skills that could benefit the department but they aren’t being discussed along with the possibility of implementing them.
Therefore, why aren’t Maddie’s skills from her previous role as a nurse being utilized in a way that could enhance Metro Dispatch’s policies and procedures?
Even though she’s had performance reviews in CANON, none of them included her being promoted to a different job position. Does she have career goals that involve Metro Dispatch and does she want to be promoted?  No one knows since Sue was MIA for 17 out of the 18 episodes in season 6 and since Josh is still in his same role as senior operator.  Maddie trained Noah in 6x5 and even though she didn’t protect her password like she should have, after she receives more technological training on the dos and don’ts of the technology agreement she signed after she was hired, she might be a good operations trainer.  It’s interesting that after being back at Metro Dispatch for a year at the end of season 6, no one asked her about her career goals.
Recurring characters
LAFD
Jonah – Firefighter/Paramedic
Not only was Jonah hired at the 118 to replace Chimney, even though Bobby knew he was coming back, he was transferred to the 133 just for him to be fired after he captured and tortured Hen and Chimney in 5x17.  A thorough background check wasn’t completed on him but he was allowed to move on to another firehouse after only being with the 118 for a month.
Lucy – Firefighter/EMT
Not only did Lucy transfer from the 147; she was offered the interim captain role, based solely on her years of experience, even though she was incompetent and didn’t know how to handle a rescue she performed by chance in 5x14.  She was also allowed to transfer out of the 118 sometime between 6x1 and 6x17 so she could be promoted to become a captain faster.  It appears her becoming captain was the goal all along and now that she’s working in a different division, she’ll get promoted quicker while the rest of the 118 haven’t even discussed their career goals in CANON yet.
________________
Many TV shows in the past that focused more on who their main characters were having sex with instead of focusing on the reason the show was created in the first place were cancelled after viewers continued to lose interest.  Also, other shows who managed to hang on and are still on the air, have resorted to the Soap Opera style of storytelling that has main characters who are co-workers do nothing but bed hop from one character to the next instead of focusing on the reason the show was greenlit from the beginning.
9-1-1 was a top-rated show and they have the potential to be one again if they focus on their main characters’ careers along with their professional development and growth.  The audience wants to see their favorite characters move forward and advance their careers but that hasn’t been happening. It’s not rocket science to have the characters focus on their careers especially since the show will have been on the air for seven years next season.  Hopefully, they won’t suffer the same fate as some of their predecessors and get cancelled for not growing their characters but if they keep focusing solely on the personal lives of their mains, then it’s likely they could suffer the same fate.
These are my criticisms regarding the lack of professional development and growth for First Responder main characters and “Constructive Criticisms” #9 will be posted on Monday, July 17, 2023.
I have a total of 15 CANON “Constructive Criticisms” (7 remaining) and my goal is to have all of them posted by Monday, August 28, 2023.  The topics are being posted in a specific order that begins with the overall issues for season 6 so they can be referenced within the posts about individual characters and ships that will follow them.
