with a mind of hundreds
you chose to love the one out of all
a person with the same body, but not the same mentality.
would you still love their parts? the hundreds of voices in their head?
or would you choose to only love the one, because thats the one you fell in love with?

conceal
your doubts
dont feel
dont let them know
dont let them know who you are
dont let them know how dead you feel
be the
funny
chaotic
dumbass
fighter
yelling
dancing
singing
joking
kissing one
i
cant
i can't remember my own name
i can't remember how to feel
i can't remember who to trust, or who i love, or why im here, or how to breathe
breathe
why?
live a life you will remember
then i might as well be dead
every time i stare to space,
another memory gets erased
i don't remember your name
i don't remember we have homework
i don't remember how to play
i don't remember when the book ends
please forgive me i don't remember inej's name
i don't remember mine
please forgive me i can't hear the note
all i hear are my own thoughts
keep the mask on
conceal my thoughts
sing louder than your doubts
tell them who you are but act the way you were
the toddler grows up
the boy wears a bra
the panicked hide their thoughts
the depressed make jokes
how dare quinn care about his grades
how dare blue not like girls
i tell you im straight, you tell me im gross
i tell you im depressed, you tell me you're worse
i tell you im scared, you tell me i wasn't there
i tell you i cant, you tell me im lazy
i tell you im failing, you tell me im not trying
i tell you im sorry, you tell me to stop
i tell you i love them, you tell me im hopeless
i tell you im gross, im lazy, im hopeless, im bad
when im a toddler
whose scared to death of his mom
when im a teen
desperately trying to feel something
when im a character
holding this body together
when im a child
who bites herself until she bleeds
when i am me
i want you
but
i cant tell you
because you'll leave
i cant warn you
you'll abandon us
like everyone did
you love the mask because she's fun
he's everything you've known until now
but we are not the mask
and you can't love us, cause you'll leave

everything u need to know about me can actually be explained by the fact that i read that poem about the serving girl wearing the pearls so they're warm for her mistress when i was like 11 and it rewrote my brain chemistry forever

He never thought he’d be loved, you know.
That little boy who stares at you with the wide, green-brown eyes.
He didn’t think he’d be loved by his parents.
He didn’t think he’d be loved by his friends.
He didn’t think he’d be loved by his family.
And then, he didn’t think he’d be loved by you.
In just one fell swoop, you proved him wrong.
Maybe his parents sucked,
Most of his friends were fake,
His family might be distant,
But now he has you, and you’re all he needs.
You’re showing him what it feels like to be loved.
I know we’re not easy to deal with.
The screaming and the crying can be a lot,
But we just want so badly for you to hear us.
I know you’re going through a lot, too.
More than we are, even.
I know you didn’t sign up for him, or want him.
You didn’t want to be a Mommy. And that’s okay.
But you’ve watched him cry, and heave,
Scream, kick, slap, and punch,
And you’ve come out the other side loving us more.
You’ve proved to me that our love is stronger
Than I could have ever imagined,
And with every choice you make to love him,
The darkness inside of us gets a little lighter.
I feel your warmth encompassing my soul.
We transcend labels, we have no need for them here.
Just pure love, real, true, encompassing.
You showed that to me recently.
Your tender hands have begun to carve a heart
Out of the heavy stone in my chest.
Every time you hold him, and rock him
Every outburst you respond to with gentle hands,
Is healing a child long dead inside,
Who never prayed to see the light of day again.
You’re saving us.
Thank you for saving us.

Grieving, grieving, constantly grieving. I mourn what could have been, what should have been, what will not be, what I cannot save.

One sunny day when I was in high school I was walking home alone. The sun was shining, gentle wind rustled the treetops. I was just starting to be able to see that beauty again. I had been depressed for a long time, but that mundane walk home felt magical to me.
On the sidewalk I saw something unusual. I was in love with life in that moment and fascinated to know more. I crouched down to observe and saw the most enchanting bug. I’d never seen anything like it. To this day I can’t remember what it looked like, only that it was as beautiful as the sun shining on the green world below.
My attention was rapt on this tiny magical creature living in such a massive and wondrous world, wondering what it was and marveling that I’d never seen anything like it.
I didn’t hear the girls come up behind me on the sidewalk. But suddenly there was a leg beside me. I wasn’t embarrassed to be caught looking at a bug. I was glad someone else might come observe this tiny wonder with me.
Her foot shot up and stomped down abruptly, crushing the object of my interest. I looked up at her.
I didn’t know either of the girls standing above me. They had seen a stranger and decided to punish her for behaving in a way they considered unacceptable. I looked up at the face of the girl who had killed my bug, trying to understand her thoughtless malice.
I think she had expected me to be upset or visibly shaken by her destruction. When I stared unblinkingly up at her she seemed to feel a brief moment of shame, shifting uneasily.
Then she and her friend turned and walked away without a word spoken.
