DnD Youtuber Eddie; who has a long actual play series, videos about his characters and the world he's built. Videos about tips for your role-playing, getting immersed. A series where he tries other TTRPG's and board games.

Dustin persuades Steve to make videos about medieval inspired, DnD friendly meals. And because it does actually seem like a fun challenge, he does it. Dustin looks horrifically smug about it when the videos are a hit, the bastard. (Steve will make him eat something gross as payback. Its fine. Gotta keep him humble.)

And because obviously, Eddie sees the videos. He's always on the search for good DnD shit. But the guy is so fucking hot Eddie doesn't quite know what to do with himself. Except daydream about those eyes, and that hair, and those hands.

So Eddie records himself trying (and only sort of failing) to recreate the food. It comes out sort of ugly but actually nice tasting, so Eddie calls it a win. References the Hot Chef Steve in his video, adds a link to his channel, and tries not to feel his heart beating out of his chest when he sends @'s him with a link to the video. His channel is way bigger than Eddie's, he probably won't see it, Eddie's fine.

Except the Hot Chef does see it, and Eddie sort of loses his mind when he gets a comment or a message from him, thanking Eddie for giving his recipe a go, and giving him credit for the recipe. Eddie's not fine at all, this guy is way out of his league, and Eddie can feel the crush bubbling up under his ribcage, and Oh Fuck he's messaging Eddie.

I know that it's a bit stupid but I don't like the taste of meat since I was a child, so playing a game where someone actually cared if I liked such a common food or not made me feel oddly delighted. Tysm 😊

Aww this is honestly so sweet! I do try to keep dietary differences in mind when coming up with the food options for the game but I'm aware it's not perfect haha. But nevertheless I'm glad to know that!

Me talking to an invisible audience as I wash the dishes: no, but the thing is, if buddie gets together but Eddie is the one who makes the move for it, with Buck's history, there will always be the question if this is Buck settling for anyone who loves him just because it makes sense, Eddie is his best friend and that's the fantasy, right? But considering the way Buck acts with love, we will be left wondering if Buck is not just going with it out of fear of losing what Eddie represents in his life. So Buck needs to be the one to walk up to Eddie and say "I love you, do you want me?" because the same way Eddie needed to learn he's allowed to want things, Buck does too, Buck needs to realize he doesn't have to just go with it when it comes to the people he loves, that he's allowed to ask for things. And the whole "oh but Eddie needs to choose", well, Eddie always chooses, the way he makes the choices himself all the time is literally what breaks his marriage, but even so, Eddie has been choosing Buck over and over, after the ambulance, and the tsunami, and the lawsuit, and with the will, and so on. And well, Buck is much more of an action person, he needs to look around himself and go for it. He needs to be the one to say it.

of course he doesn't; he's a fictional character and he only knows thst he sees in front of him and that is his death several feet ahead of him. he is entangled in the fabric of the universe like a moth in a spider's web, the strands of his ambitions and regrets clinging, gossamer thin yet sticky and strong, holding him fast to the paths that rip him in too many directions.

all he needs is a little push into the spider's maw or free to fly and live another day.
