One thing I’ve always found interesting is that Rick never really showed us the bridge between Percabeth being just friends to being in a serious relationship. A few little moments in The Staff of Hermes were the closest we got. Like, we see them say “I love you” to each other a few times throughout Heroes of Olympus, but it’s never implied that those were the first times they said it. Which means before TLH even starts, the two of them have gotten to that point. But In Staff of Hermes (which takes place a month into their relationship), they’re still in that slightly awkward phase of their relationship—you know, where they’re super into each other and obviously enjoying the perks of being a couple (aka making out), but haven’t quite settled into that groove of mature, comfortable romance yet. But by the time Percy gets kidnapped (just three months later), they clearly have found that groove, which is evident the second they reunite in MoA, because they’re totally at ease with each other, affectionate, and intimate in a way that supports the implication that those “I love you’s” I mentioned have already been exchanged. So it just makes me wonder when that shift happened? At what point in those three short months did they go from “I’m just happy we’re still together, honestly” to “I'm in love with you, and this is forever"?

Ugh, what I would give to see how they were right before Percy got kidnapped. Still holding on to a bit of that teenage casualness that disappeared during their 6 month separation, but also hopelessly in love and finally open and comfortable with it. URRGGGHHH!!!!

I love the college of winterhold. everyone there is casually deranged and there's like an alarming number of students and staff who threaten you immediately when they meet you. it's always one of the first questlines I do. which makes it even funnier when you get made the arch-mage of the college. I'm level 12 and got through this questline knowing exactly 3 spells. what do you mean you want me to lead the college. this school CANNOT be an accredited institution

veilguard having woke necromancy but still sending skeletons to work in the necropolis' corpse gulag - ghoulag if you will - is such a bizarre choice and also frankly quite hilarious because you can tell that they didn't want to commit to anything fucked up and unethical because why would they

oh no we don't *actually* resurrect dead people against their will. these are just wisps who have no prior memory of being a sentient being. skeletons are just empty vessels because the essence of that person left so it's not actually questionable for us to use people's remains. also people fill out consent forms to be resurrected and used in the ghoulag. also yes only good people can become a lich because the lichlords - that we somehow have now - do some serious soul sifting and ONLY the people with good intentions - like reading books for the rest of all eternity - are allowed to become a lich. no emmrich having a little skeleton servant isn't unethical because he wasn't a person before, he was a wisp - you know our new ex machina - and he really wanted to be a necromancers servant and learn and it was HIS choice all along.

because we at bioware are all about informed and consensual necromancy because why would we have something morally ambiguous going on? or even actually question the ethics of our companions? have challenging discussions about morals? what do you expect us to do? make things actually interesting?

Haven't seen much more than clips of Creature Commandos but even still I can't get this dpxdc idea out of my head so here, have a peompt:

Ellie (Dani), fresh from escaping Vlad and losing all her clone brothers, ends up stumbling upon Dr Phosphorus at some point in her wandering. Maybe it's while he's still in Gotham doing his revenge/crime boss thing, maybe it's after he's in jail, maybe it's during the events of Ceature Commandos. Where/when it happens doesn't terribly matter.

What really matters is that Ellie, freshly on her own, lonely and a bit traumatized after losing her brothers, sees this blackened skeleton enveloped in glowing green energy and can't help but think of the big brother she lost and imprints on him like an undead baby duck.

Phosphorus for his part doesn't really know what to do with this sassy lost child that's latched onto him like a chaotic little lamprey, but he'll be dammed if he's gonna let anything happen to this kid who can tell when his empty skull of a face isn't smiling and who doesn't seem to have had a single decent adult around in her entirely too short life.

Something something about the way Eva could only ever see herself as a victim even in situations where she wasn't, whereas Grace never allowed herself to be a victim even in situations where she was. Something about the way Eva plays the role of "the bullied" and "nerd" whereas Grace plays the role of "the bully" and "mean girl". Something about how Grace proudly flaunts her name and talent, demanding those around her to not forget it when Eva shamefully tries to hide her true title in any way she can, even when it comes to the detriment of herself and others. Something about Eva being a liar and someone clings to calmness and composure where Grace remains ever explosive and defensive yet utterly honest to a fault. Someone about how Eva clings to the idea of having no agency and how Grace fights for agency and keeps it tight within her stubborn grip. Something about how Eva aligned herself and submitted to the whims and wills of a man in a position of power over her, whereas Grace chose to punch him down in unrelenting defiance and reject his ideals all together from the start. Something about that subservience getting Eva killed, and something about that defiance allowing Grace to survive.

yall are about to piss me off by not having any PASSING basic knowledge of the way the u.s. military manipulates its recruits into joining by typing up one of your uninformed, unresearched, unempathetic, individualistic, unbelievably annoying posts about how 100% of the people in the military ended up there because they just Love America So Damn Much! they're extremely mature and informed at time of recruitment, they can totally leave anytime they want, they totally had tons of other avenues in life they could've taken, there was no rush at all to get income as fast as possible, and everyone in the military also totally is part of the combat divisions and personally enjoys being IN the military very much, big believers of violence. everyone in the military is shooting guns all day, that's how that works. they LOVE BLOODSHED. also I love the "amewicans haha" twang to this type of shit because you're actually TOTALLY stealing our Thing, which is turning systemic issues into Individual Issues. Instead of talking about the powers that be, it's so Personal Choice up in here. It's, "well you shouldn't have done it then. Hello to the best author ever!!!! Familiar au has had me in a death grip for years. I will never stop re reading and overanalyzing this work of art. 😘

I'm having thoughts about familiar Bill having the same history as canon Bill. Doesn't that mean Bill isn't a demon? Hold on, I'm donning my conspiracy theory hat.

What is a demon in familiar au anyway? Just a general term humans made up to classify any evil being of unknown origins? My head canon is that a demon is an entity that manifested in the nightmare realm. I feel like that matches best with familiar au lore so far.

Canon Bill and his Hechmanics are a group of interdimensional criminals from different dimensions. Bill spending "eons amassing criminals and lunatics from different dimensions" is a direct fact from Alex. Another fun fact! Hectorgon used to be sheriff of the interdimensional task force meant to take Bill down. So they aren't evil because they're demons. They're just like that (and we accept them for who they are ♥️).

So is familiar Bill even a demon? Are his Hechmanics demons? Did everyone just assume they were demons and they never bothered to correct them? Or are they lying about it? How much of canon is in familiar au?

Did Bill forget he isn't even a demon??? Did he forget just how "human" he actually was before meeting Dipper? A trillion years is a long time to Stockholm Syndrome yourself.

I believe Bill in canon is technically still a 'demon', in that he's described as such and never really denies it? But details aside - I've never really defined what a 'demon' is in Familiar AU - and I'm glad, because I started it waaaay before we got all that supplemental canonical material!

Familiar Bill didn't manifest out of nowhere like the classical idea of 'demon'. He had parents, and the backstory, and all that!

But I would say that Familiar Bill is a demon. In that it's a catchall term for Very Magical Powerful Malevolent Being from Another Dimension.

And in this particular branch of the multiverse, well. Let's use Bill's incredibly old age for this bit of worldbuilding.

Say you've been hanging with interdimensional criminals since a billion years back. Turns out that when nasty customers hang out in certain places, beings of similar nature and intent tend move into the general area. It's the part of the universe the 'good guys' of the universe avoid, making it all the more tempting for all kinds of weirdos and monsters to gather around! A few hundred thousand years later and before you know it, the whole thing snowballs! A little spectrum of nasty little monsters with powers, fluttering in the same neighborhood. Not all of them are immortal though, and it turns out if those stick around in the same-ish place for long enough - that being millennia - the mortal ones'll develop their own culture and amalgamated language.

Familiar Bill: Confirmed for Demon, as he's Enculturated enough over a billion years to consider himself one.

they're always there to support each other, and always have each other's backs... but most importantly-- they got each other even when they're slipping

chuck was the 1st character ever to question mike's leadership and battle plans in the very 2nd ep. wellll unless you don't count dutch's disapproval of mike's plan in ep 1, but that was more pushback than an actual fullblown argument

mike was acting rashly, not thinking out his plan to use the core's power to defeat kane's hounds, and chuck rightfully bickered with him abt it for like 2 precious minutes while their base was being surrounded

and he succeeded! mike did take the power core, but he didn't end up detonating it in the end even tho he wanted to! bc chuck's words affected him, saving motorcity-- and possibly the entirety of michigan as well

and on the flip side, chuck's insecurities get the best of him most times. this was especially devastating to mike in "fearless", and it all culminated in this big final fight they had where chuck almost killed mike

but they ended up reconciling, bc mike KNEW what was eating away at chuck and confronted him abt it. his words to chuck were "being brave isn't abt not being scared, it's abt waking up everyday and doing what you do anyways despite it"

which is very true! chuck was sick and tired of being the butt of the jokes, the scaredy-cat, the coward. but mike cut thru all that bullshit and in one fell swoop, chuck was removing his booster and he was comfortable facing the kane grunts to deactivate the KMG before it killed all of the cablers.

mike recognized chuck's insecurity and got thru to him with the cold hard truth-- chuck was already brave, even if he was screaming thru the majority of their missions lol

one day i hope to be in a friendship like chuck and mike's, but until then i'm just sitting here admiring them like a goober :')
