Delayed package
Self-Aware! Fyodor Dostoevsky x GN! Reader x Self-Aware! Nikolai Gogol
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Description: Right before BSD Cast got into your world, you ordered something. But, as it often happens, your package got delayed And, because of BSD Cast arrival and you moving out, you totally forgot about your package. Until one day, when it finally arrived.
Prequel to Two detectives in your bed
Warning: OOC. English is my second language.
You were mindlessly browsing the Internet. The room was dark and only light from your laptop screen illuminated the room. Thankfully, you were on vacation and have as much free time as you want. You yawn and glance in your phone screen. It was 3:00 am.
Three months before BSD Cast Arrived to this world
___________
You, probably, should go to sleep. But, you don't want to.
Many students left to visit their families. They will spend holidays with theirs relatives. Parents, siblings, cousins, grandparents and others.
You don't have a place to return to. You were talking with your relatives, yes. But, they do show you, that no one want to see you.
You were alone.
You don't have friends. Because of your insecurities, you were afraid of making friends. You were afraid of making a mistake. Of being laughed at.
But you want to have someone. You don't want to be alone anymore.
A single sob escaped your lips. Holidays were the worst. No one around. You couldn't even watch TV and cuddle with a pet, because your landlord isn't allowed pets in the apartment.
You glance at your bed. Full of pillows and few plush toys. So you can cuddle them to sleep. Pretend, that you snuggle up with someone. That you are not alone.
It was a poor substitute, but beggars can't be choosers.
You shook your head and return to the screen.
Maybe, you could watch something. Maybe, you can rewatch your favorite BSD Moments?
You nodded to yourself and start typing the link of the site, where you watch BSD. It took a few moments for it to open. And, of course, there were ads.
Premium account, new book, anime figures, dakimakuras... What?
You scroll up, looking at the small colorful ad with pictures of a few body pillows with anime characters on it. Out of curiosity, you click on the ad.
A new site was opened in a new window. It looked normal. Menu with catalog and FAQ. Search bar. Online shop cart. Contacts. Site looked good.
Just for fun, you search for BSD dakimakuras. You don't forget to choose SFW prints only.
In few moments you got your results. It wasn't much, but, all of them looked good.
You scroll down, and saw, that two dakimakuras were on sale. With Fyodor Dostoevsky and Nikolai Gogol. You click on them, taking a better look.
According to information and reviews, the pillows were big and soft, the prints were colorful. Both dakimakuras were good.
You wonder if you should buy one.
They looked good for hugging.
You cast another glance on your bed.
Body pillow would be better, that many simple pillows.
After a quick search, you discover, that site, where you saw dakimakuras, were a legit one and wasn't scamming people.
You return to the site. You... could buy both Fyodor and Gogol pillows without worrying about your finances.
But, should you?
You stare at the screen.
Your apartment was quiet. Too quiet.
You were alone.
You click on "Add to cart" option.
_______
First month... Second month... Third month...
Shop apologize for loosing package and return money. They also allow you to keep the package, if, one day, it arrived.
Then BSD cast arrived in real world...
With them came friendship.
New home. New memories.
Camping trip with ADA. Scavenger hunt with Port Mafia. Shopping trip with The Guild. Visit to museum with Rats in the house of the Dead. Laser tug with Decay of Angels. Sport competition with Hunting Dogs. Homemade theater with kids.
Walks, movie nights, game nights.
Breakfasts, lunches, dinners.
And no more loneliness.
And you completely forgot about the package.
_____
You, Elise, Mori and Karma were ready to go.
Karma and Elise need something for school, so, you all decide to go on a small shopping trip.
Right before leaving the house, you got a notification. You check it.
It was from your previous neighbors. The big package with your name on it arrived in your old apartment. And neighbors asked you to hurry up and took it from them.
You frowned. You didn't remember ordering something on your old address. Still, you didn't want to make your neighbors wait. They were good neighbors. But, you will do busy these days and your old apartment are far away.
It seems, your worried expression didn't leave unnoticed. You heard Karma's soft voice.
"[Y/N]? Is everything alright?"
You nodded mindlessly. Mostly, it was alright.
"Yes, it's just... My previous neighbors got a package with my name on it. Ask me to take it as soon as I can."
Elise tucked her hair behind the ear. She tried to give you her best puppy dog eyes.
"So, we are going without you? But, [Y/N], without you, Rintarou will be unbearable!"
Mori stands behind Elise. He also looked a tiny bit sad. Thankfully, he didn't try to make puppy dog eyes on you. You would not bear looking at Port Mafia boss, who tried to beg like this for something.
"Elise-chan, [Y/N] will decide for themselves. And here I was planning to treat you all in a restaurant."
It is a blackmail!
You huffed. But, the problem still stands. Well, time to ask someone for help. You turned around and hurry to the living room.
"Will be back in a minute!"
____
You run into Fyodor and Nikolai in the living room. Nikolai was telling a story to Fyodor, actively gesticulating. Meanwhile, Fyodor was nodding from time to time, showing, that he is listening.
Noticing you, Nikolai stopped talking and waved. His smile became even bigger.
"Birdy! Good to see you. Do you decide to stay home with us? Great! Come on, sit down, right between Fedya and I!" Kolya patted the sofa next to where he was sitting. "We will keep you warm and comfy!"
It seems, Fyodor also liked the idea of you staying home. Unfortunately, you are needed. You will be an 'anchor' for Mori. Without you, he will go overboard with shopping and at the end of the day, instead of one adult, one teen and one child, three piles of bags will return home. You shake your head.
"Sorry, but I still must go. But I need help."
You explained, in a few words, what you need.
"So, can you two, please, go to my old apartment and take the package?"
Fyodor and Nikolai looked at each other, the Fyodor nodded.
"No problems, Myshonok. Just in case, should we check, what inside the package? To make sure it isn't damaged?"
You shrugged.
"Why not? Thanks, both of you. If you need anything, just call me."
You left the living room.
And soon you, Karma, Elise and Mori left the house.
Fifteen minutes later, Fyodor and Nikolai left to your old apartment.
______
You finally were back from your shopping trip. All of you get what you need and had lunch in a small restaurant.
You were ready to go to your room, when noticed, that there was a note on your bedroom door.
"[Y/N], please, go to my room. I will give you back your package. Fyodor D. P.S.: It would be nice to spend time together. You, Kolya and I."
You smiled. It was good, that everything went well. You decide to agree to spend some time with Fyodor and Nikolai as a 'thank you' for getting the package.
You walk into your room and changed in a what you call 'shuggly clothes for Fedya and Kolya'.
You were wearing a mouse kigurumi and a scarf, that Kolya gave you.
After getting ready, you go to Fyodor's room.
______
Something feels wrong.
Fyodor was unusually quiet. He locked the door behind you. Kolya wasn't here.
And something was laying behind Fedya's bed.
Fyodor turned towards you. His expression was neutral.
"Myshonok... Your package is here."
You nervously gulped. Did someone send something bad to you?
Fyodor took a piece of paper from his desk and hold it towards you.
"It came with the package."
You read the text.
And you were mortified.
You remembered ordering two dakimakuras almost a year ago. And lost package. And the prints.
You whined and looked at Fyodor.
He was holding them in his hands.
They were soft. They were real. They were in your house, and you don't have any idea what to do with them.
Fyodor were holding two big dakimakuras.
You take a step back. Only to crash into someone else's chest. You don't need to be a genius, to realize, that you were trapped between Fyodor and Nikolai.
Fyodor nodded a little.
Suddenly, a blanket was draped over you. And Nikolai was wrapping it around you tighter and tighter.
Five minutes later, everything was over.
_____
You were laying on Fyodor's bed. You were wrapped in a blanket. Like a candy. And you were stuck between Fyodor and Nikolai.
Fyodor was laying in front of you. His hand caress your face, slowly massaging it
Nikolai was laying behind you. He was spooning you, nibbling your earlobe from time to time.
And you feel, like you were on fire. They were so close. They were so soft.
And they were teasing.
Nikolai let go of your ear and whispered right into it.
"Tell me, Birdy, will this pillow ever kiss you during cuddles?" he returned to nibbling on your ear. You whimper.
"N-no, Kolya..."
Nikolai laughed and start paying attention to the spot right behind your ears.
You felt Fyodor's warm breath on your face. You close your eyes and his fingers started massaging your eyelids.
"Myshonok, will this pillow ever give you a massage during cuddles?"
You whimper again.
"No..."
Fyodor didn't answer, but, instead, softly kissed your eyelids.
Meanwhile, Nikolai chuckled.
"So, one point to us. No points to pillows. Next round."
Position was changed.
Now you were laying face to face with Nikolai. You felt Fyodor's breath on your neck, before he starts leaving small kisses on it. Nikolai's fingers run up and down your scalp, massaging it.
And you feel even more embarrassed.
Fyodor spoke again.
"So, do you want to explain, what the deal with the pillows?"
Once again, without waiting for your answer, Fyodor continues to lightly kiss your neck.
You spoke. Your voice was trembling.
"I... I didn't know... that you were self-aware... Order them almost a year ago... Forgot about it..."
Nikolai playfully boops your nose.
"And didn't know about the bonus pillow cases."
You nod. You feel even warmer now. Fyodor and Nikolai laughed. Fyodor started nibbling on your ear.
"I am not asking about that, Myshonok."
You were pretty sure, that you became ad hot as desert sand.
"I... I was so lonely... Before you arrived. I wanted to... Pretend, that I have someone in my life."
They were quiet. Then you felt Fyodor's lips on your cheek.
"Than today we will show you, that you will never be alone again, Myshonok"
Nikolai kissed the corner of your mouth.
"Don't worry, Birdy, we will take care of you. Just enjoy the warmth. And forget about the pillows."
Nikolai's grin became sly.
"But, please, remember, did you order pillow with us with... Adult print?"
You let out a muffled scream, hiding your face in Nikolai's chest.
You had a feeling, that they will never forget about dakimakuras.
______
What came next, you can describe with only one word. Heaven. Almost.
Without teasing about prints on pillows, it would be even grater.
You were warm.
You were cuddling with Fyodor and Nikolai.
One moment you were laying on Fyodor's chest, and he was showering your forehead in kisses.
The second moment, you were pressed against Nikolai's chest and he was kissing your hands.
You were pampered. You were caressed.
You weren't alone.
You fall asleep between Fyodor and Nikolai.
Safe. Sound. Not alone.

Spiderwebs #11: Dollhouse

· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
The bed was bought from a garage sale, a cheap but sturdy thing from somewhere downtown. It came with a matching nightstand, so Heather had that taken care of. She considered buying a lamp, but giving Jackie anything close to a weapon was a bad idea.
“What do you mean, a brush that isn’t sharp?”
Heather tried her best to sound polite. “I mean, if someone tries to stab me with that toothbrush, they won’t get very far. Something like that.”
The general store employee gave her an odd look, so Heather gave up and bought the least dangerous looking one. The mattress was ordered online. Heather was able to buy a few sets of clothes, alongside gloves and a new pair of black boots that would fit better than the old shoes Heather had let him borrow. She acquired a stronger light bulb, a nicer blanket, a pillow, and a shell-white bedsheet. A writing desk would be necessary for certain experiments, so she blew a few bucks on that. And a better chair, of course. Heather knew she was getting carried away when she almost bought a rug.
Three days passed before she could acquire everything. She didn’t visit Jackie in that time. She had left him food and water, obviously, and assumed he would figure the rest out by himself. She had enough on her hands with all the boxes in her living room, and the incessant calls. There were so many calls.
Heather lifted the phone for what must have been the sixth time that hour. “What is it now?”
“Heather, please!”
She heard that word a lot lately. Heather hung up without a moment’s hesitation. The phone rang again, however. It would keep ringing unless she answered. Her old boss was a determined man, even if he was a tad oblivious.
She lifted the phone again. “Listen, I’ll let you talk once. But this is the last time you call me, or I’m placing a restraining order.”
“Yes, of course.” There was a deep exhale on the other side of the line. “Heather, the organization needs you. Nobody else can work on that project. You were our best asset, face it. Half these idiots don’t even know how to operate a Bunsen burner. We need you.”
“Nice speech, but don’t kid yourself. You need my money.”
“So what? Maybe we need your money. The coffee machine ran out of coffee three weeks ago! Come back, and we’ll give you the highest position possible. All the benefits. Come on, you’re a reasonable person, you gotta come back.”
Heather brought the box cutter out of a drawer. “Yeah, thanks, but I’m legally not allowed back there. Go find someone else to leech off.”
“You tried to drug one intern, who cares?”
“The police!” she snapped. “If the higher-ups hear of this, the authorities will get involved, and I know you can't afford a lawyer. Don’t call me again.”
“Fine, fine. But it doesn’t have to be official, you know, just come with the money and we’ll collaborate in private. No more drugging the interns, but we’ll get some monkeys, whatever. What else are you planning? You aren’t working with someone new already, are you?”
“It’s been a month. What did you expect?” Heather ran the boxcutter along the taped edge of the bedframe’s box. “I’ve got another project. I’m not coming back. Goodbye.”
With that, she hung up and cut the last of the tape off. Damned bureaucrats. Sticking their nose where the money was like a pack of bloodhounds. Had all the politeness of a stray dog, too. Heather was done with them.
The research facility she used to work at had been dreadfully boring. Her colleagues shared different interests, to say the least. Benevolent, but horribly tedious interests. It was challenging, working on curing glioblastoma cancer, but she didn’t really care about curing diseases. She wanted to break the boundaries of what was considered science. She wanted to tear the universe apart and mesh it back together by her own design. Curing cancer was fine, but it was nothing compared to immortality. Those mice pumped full of steroids and painkillers were nothing in the shadow of Jackie Rockwell.
Speaking of, Heather was ready to check up on him. A thick, black scarf had been tossed aside on a sofa. She grabbed it, made her way across the hallway, then knocked on the basement door.
“Who’s there?”
She rolled her eyes, though he couldn’t see it. “Very funny.”
“Very funny who?”
Good to know he was awake, at least. She turned the lock and swung the door open. Jackie lay sprawled on the floor, still tangled in the blanket, surrounded by empty granola bar wrappers.
Heather waved her box cutter at him. “What are you doing?”
He froze. His neutral expression shifted into slight alarm. It reminded her of the incident, as she’d taken to thinking of it, after she had cut him open. That made her guilt weigh a little heavier. And that made her anger burn a little brighter. She had no idea what past Heather was thinking. Hugging her test subject was one of the most unprofessional situations she could think of. The worst part was that it had actually felt nice—but that didn't make any sense! Heather was not lonely. She was alone, but not lonely.
All she wanted was to forget about that mistake and move on with the experiments. That was nothing but a misstep, a fumble in the first half of the game. Nothing more.
“It’s not for you.” She pushed the blade closed and pocketed it. “Unless you decide to do something stupid.”
He relaxed, sighed, and sat up. “I’m not doing anything. There’s nothing to do here.”
“You’ll be happy with the change of scenery, then.” She stepped down the stairs. “Close your eyes.”
“I'm getting deja vu.” He closed them anyway.
Heather stepped behind him and wrapped the scarf around his eyes, twice. “Can you see anything?”
He shook his head.
“Excellent.” She pulled him up by the arms, and he staggered to his feet. “Follow my lead. Don’t take the blindfold off.”
“Whatever you say.”
“Exactly.”
With her hands firmly on his shoulders, she steered him up the stairs and out of the basement, then up another flight of stairs and down the hallway to her bedroom. There, she led him into a closet.
He felt for the walls, pushing his hands upon the sides. "Is this another experiment?"
"No. I have business to attend to. I don't want you running off in the meantime."
"The blindfold's a bit unnecessary."
"Is it?” She shut the closet door, then locked it. “I’ll be back soon. Don’t make too much of a mess.”
First of all, his room was filthy. The basement was splattered with blood and ash, filled with junk, and smelled like a slaughterhouse. The empty mirror was easy enough to move. The old dresser was pushed out without much effort, as were the remains of the table. The freezer was harder. She rolled it upstairs on an appliance dolly, as slowly as possible.
Bloodstains weren’t hard to clean. Piles of peroxide powder scattered over the floor broke down the copper-red splotches, while she cleared out the garbage and rotting food. Dusting and sweeping took a good ten or fifteen minutes. Clumps of dust and flakes of charcoal soon lay in the bottom of a black garbage bag.
The smell was harder to get rid of, now that it had time to seep in and settle, but she managed to cover it up with a few sprays of air freshener. Twenty minutes were spent on setting up the furniture, building the bed frame and putting the mattress on, then moving everything else into place.
By the end, Heather had to admit she was proud of her work. She never knew interior design could be so entertaining. That stillness, that empty perfection—it was all so fascinating. It reminded her of a diorama. After all, the room was primarily a safe environment for her subject. A contained space to observe him. An insect in a glass jar. A doll in a dollhouse.
Jackie was leaning against the closet wall when she came back. “Took you long enough.”
“Did I say you could take the blindfold off?”
“It’s a closet, what’s the big deal?”
She ripped the scarf from his grasp and placed it back over his head, despite his irritated expression. “Stop complaining. Come on.”
· • —– ٠ ✤ ٠ —– • ·
Once they reached the basement, she lifted the scarf away.
He rubbed his eyes. He walked around the room in sprawling circles. He sat down on the bed, at last. His arms fell gently into his lap. Then, he looked back at her over his shoulder, eyes full of an apathetic uneasiness, and did not move. There was something very candid about it.
“Well?” she asked. “What do you think?”
“I think it’s stupid,” he replied at once. “Do you wanna know why I think it’s stupid?”
“No.”
“You’re putting so much effort into this,” he continued. “You think this is going to be a permanent thing. It’s ridiculous. It’s a waste of your time. It’s a waste of my time. You can’t keep me here forever.”
“I can’t?” She smiled, faintly amused. “You’re right. Forever is a long time. It’s only until one of us dies.”
“I will kill you.” That candid air snapped as he rose to his feet.
“Oh, you can try. If you need me to teach you another lesson—“ She pulled out the box cutter from her pocket, pushing the blade open—“I’d be happy to help.”
He sat back down, simmering with rage. “I can’t wait to see you rotting in prison, you fucking creep.”
“Oh, boo hoo. I’m a monster because I gave you a home. You have to live here, so what? I’m the one doing all the work. I’m the one taking care of you.” She pointed at him with the blade. “All you have to do is sit there and be quiet.”
“I have a home!” he snarled. “I already have a home! I don’t want you to take care of me. I didn’t ask for you to fucking kidnap me and keep me in your fucking basement. I don’t want to be your fucking test subject. I want to go back home, back to my home. I want to leave.”
“We don’t always get what we want, do we? If whining about it makes you happy, then you can keep whining. You can kick and scream the entire way. You’re still not leaving.” His glare only dug into her harder, and she sighed. “Try thinking of this in a positive way. It’s not all bad.”
“Yes, I’m sure a positive attitude will fix everything,” he replied tartly.
“A positive attitude will make you less insufferable. Just a suggestion. Maybe there’s a reason you used to live alone.”
“All because I didn’t say thank you to the psycho who kidnapped me.” He crossed his arms. “Gee, why didn’t I think of that? That’s a great way to make friends, isn’t it? Hey, maybe people would like you more if you didn’t rip their intestines out. Just a suggestion, you know. Maybe people wouldn’t think you were such a freak if—“
“Do you want to eat dinner or not?”
“I want to break your neck. Go to hell.”
Oh, how dare he. How dare he. Heather wanted to make him suffer for that. She wanted to hurt him. She wanted to—but she needed to take her own advice and think logically for a moment. Of course he was angry. Who wouldn't be? He was scared, she knew that, and anger was how he tried to protect himself. Anger was his tooth and claw when he lost all his other weapons. It was only natural, even if it was idiotic. He'd see her point eventually. He'd get used to it. She didn't need to starve him.
"It's alright," she said. "You're upset. I'll get you something to eat."
"You want to drug me again, don't you?” He scoffed. “I'll pass."
"You'll change your mind."
His expression said otherwise, but he would cave in eventually. Like rusted metal, all things could be worn down with time. Like frayed fabric, like rocky shores, like entire mountains. Who was Jackie in the face of all these things? Only a man, only an animal without any claws. Even an immortal couldn't win against the nature of things. The second hand would wear him down, sooner or later.

Elias
Even deep under the orchard, the sterile filtered air of the bunker still held the faint sweetness of the coming apple harvest. Elias breathed in the scent of comfort, the scent of home. He needed that comfort.
Tonight, as on every other bunker night, he was walking a tightrope. Across the orchard, in the drafty, too-big farmhouse, Laina could wake up at any moment to find her husband out of bed in the middle of the night. And there was the other risk of discovery, the deadly risk, not from the woman he loved but from the enemy.
He had never fallen off that tightrope yet. He was under no illusions that it meant he was safe.
The bunker was a twenty-by-twenty space, as welcoming as he could make it. A cot in one corner, made up with a quilt handed down from Laina’s grandmother. Laina had never liked the quilt or the grandmother, so she hadn’t shed any tears when he had told her it was lost.
A bookshelf in another corner held a smattering of dog-eared bestsellers of yore, scavenged from yard sales and thrift stores. A mini-fringe, regularly restocked, held enough food for a week—assuming the guest rationed it carefully. That was the longest he had ever needed to keep anyone down here.
Behind him, the air filtration system let out a constant hiss. Across from him at the square vinyl table, the woman with the hood over her head drew in a ragged breath. Her hands trembled in her lap.
She was afraid. They were always afraid. Afraid of him, at first—the way he had to operate made that unavoidable. And afraid of the enemy. He wouldn’t try to talk her out of that latter fear. She needed it. It was one of the few things he would leave her when she left.
He pulled the hood off her head, slow and gentle. He folded it on the table next to him as he settled back into his seat. Then he rested his hands on the table so she could see that he had nothing to hide.
He schooled his face into a fatherly expression. Not a smile. She wouldn’t trust a smile, not after the way she had come here. The hood, the car ride to parts unknown, the assurances his associates would have given her that they were there to help—unconvincing with no accompanying explanation. An unavoidable problem.
He met her eyes, his face solemn but soft. He tried to look both unthreatening and utterly in control. Like someone who could be trusted. Like someone who could take care of everything. Most of all, like someone who had no reason to be afraid.
It had been a long time since he had been anyone’s father. But he remembered it had felt something like that.
Especially the lying. In truth, he had never been in control. He had always been afraid.
Her eyes belonged to a rabbit trapped in a hawk’s gaze. Her shaking didn’t stop. “This is a mistake.” Her trembling voice lacked conviction. It told him she knew it was no such thing. “I don’t know what you want from me.” Even less convincing.
“I’m not who you think I am,” he said. “You asked certain questions online. One of my people found you before someone worse could.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” But even if she had been a decent liar, he would have noticed the way her eyes widened when he mentioned her online activity.
“The fact that you suspected those questions might have placed you in danger puts you ahead of most people,” said Elias. “Have you had an encounter with them before?”
She visibly weighed further unconvincing lies against her curiosity. Curiosity won out. She shook her head. “But that’s how it always goes in stories, isn’t it? When there are people like us, there’s always a them.”
He made a vaguely affirming noise and waited for her to ask what she wanted to ask.
It didn’t take long. “You said ‘one of your people,’” she said. “What does that mean? Who are ‘your people’? Who are you?”
“Soon,” said Elias. “But I’m going to need you to prove yourself first. Prove you’re one of us.” He shot her as an apologetic smile. “I’m sure you understand.”
It wasn’t a foolproof test. The line between us and them was even blurrier than the line between good and evil—he had more reason than most to know that. But in the absence of someone who could literally sniff out a lie like a bomb-detecting dog, it was what he had. And he hadn’t had someone like that since he had watched a loyal man bleed out in his arms years ago.
She tensed. If she did what he wanted, she was risking nearly as much as him. She had no way of knowing he wasn’t a liar, either. But she was also the one who had been abducted and brought to an underground bunker, and if the enemy wasn’t in here with her, then they were waiting for her aboveground.
So she chose to trust him. He saw it happen, saw the moment when her shoulders squared with resolve. He heard her let out a defiant breath, like she thought it might be her last.
She held one of her hands up over the table, palm facing the ceiling. She closed her eyes. A small, perfect ball of flame appeared, hovering half an inch above her skin.
“Is that enough?” she asked, her voice still shaking. She met his eyes in challenge, daring him to throw off the pretense of helping her.
He only nodded. She closed her hand around the flame with no sign of pain. The fire winked out.
“You’re Enhanced,” he said. “At least, that’s the most common term. There are others, but that’s the one they use, so it’s the one I use. You make fire. Some people read minds, or make objects move, or see into the future or to places they’ve never been. The number of potential abilities is as vast as the number of people on this planet. Those are some of the most common.”
“And you?” Her voice shook a little less now. “What can you do?”
“You have a special gene,” he said, instead of answering. “It’s been present in humanity since the dawn of history, at least as far as the current research can tell. But until sometime in the 1970s, it almost never became active. The gene requires environmental exposure to certain substances in order to activate. Pollutants in the air and water have turned people like us from the demigods of myth to something almost ordinary.”
In some rare places—if any of those places still existed—it truly was ordinary to have powers. The places where people like them came together to live among their own kind. As always when his thoughts found their way back to his childhood, he felt a pang deep in his gut.
And as always, he turned his thoughts away.
“If we’re so ordinary,” the woman said, “why haven’t I heard of anyone else who can do… this?” She opened her palm and stared down into her hand, as if searching for the remnants of the flame.
“Because it benefits us to keep ourselves a secret,” Elias said. “It benefits them, too—all the different thems out there. Governments and scientific facilities around the world know about us. Criminals, too. High-level corporate types. They all see ways to use us to gain an advantage, and the more secret they keep us, the more of an advantage they think they’ll get.”
“Because they’ll be the only ones who know about us that way?”
Elias shook his head. “They all know they aren’t the only ones. But if they were to do their business aboveboard, they’d have to follow rules. More paying salaries for the kinds of work we can do for them. Less locking people up in secret labs to breed the next generation of supersoldiers.”
A tremor ran through her, a lingering echo of her earlier shakes. He hadn’t realized until then that her shaking had stopped.
“We stay hidden so they can’t use us,” Elias said. “And the ones like you, who activate on their own and start asking questions before they figure out all the advantages to keeping their mouths shut… well, it usually doesn’t take long for someone to find them and shut them up. If they’re lucky, it’s me, or someone like me.”
“So you’re here to shut me up,” she said.
“I’m here to save your life.”
“Those men… they kidnapped me. They gave me something…” She stared down at the crook of her arm, at the small red needle mark.
A sedative. So that was how his people had stopped her from turning them into living torches. He had wondered.
“They did,” Elias agreed. “I apologize for that. But the work I do has to stay secret. If I or my people had reached out ahead of time, you might have told someone. A friend. Family.”
“My family will be looking for me anyway. They’ll go to the police, and the police will—”
“No, they won’t,” said Elias. “We’re good at what we do. We have decades of practice. Not to mention a lot of natural advantages.” He tapped the side of his head.
Another shiver ran through her, even though he didn’t mean he had an advantage over her. She could set him on fire right now if she wanted to.
“So what is it you do after you kidnap people?” She shot a glance around the small bunker. “How does this save my life?”
“I get people new identities, and I help them run. In a few days, there won’t be any way to connect you with the person who asked those questions.”
“There shouldn’t be any way to connect me now. I didn’t use my real name.”
“Nothing is ever truly anonymous,” he said gently. “If we found you, so could they.” Any number of theys. The woman had sent up a flare advertising herself as defenseless prey, and there was a world full of predators out there. But there was one they in particular that always came to mind first for Elias. Call it personal bias.
Call it experience.
“Then you’ve done this before?” Her glance around the bunker was slower this time. Maybe she was imagining all the people who had sat at this table, who had slept in that bed, under that quilt.
“Many times. My network is small, but I do what I can.” It wasn’t that small at this point, but he preferred people to believe that. Anyway, it felt small to him, even now. He didn’t compare it to what it used to be. He compared it to the size of the opposition.
“Your network?” She gave the first word a slight emphasis. It took him a moment to figure out she was asking whether he was in charge here. Maybe he didn’t look the part, with his grandpa glasses and his weather-lined hands.
He nodded. “Yes, I created this. I’ve been at this for more than a decade now. You’re in expert hands, I promise.”
He hoped she wouldn’t ask what had happened two decades ago. Some of them did. He was used to pushing the memories away when the questions came, and the grief along with them. But the taste always lingered later, a soft bitterness at the back of his throat.
“So you’re in charge here,” she said, asking the question straight out this time.
Usually they didn’t harp on that. Usually they found the acknowledgment reassuring and moved on. He frowned. “Yes, I am.” He paused. “Does that bother you?”
“It seems dangerous. The person in charge of the entire network, meeting with people like me personally.” Her sharp eyes studied him.
She was suspicious, but he didn’t know of what. If he did, he might have known how to ease that suspicion. “Because no one else can do quite what I can. I have a unique power that helps people like you stay hidden—and eases their minds, besides. I—”
Then he stopped, because those sharp eyes were still watching him, like she was waiting for something. Her fear was gone, along with her shaking. Now she held herself perfectly still, coiled tightly in tense anticipation.
He had seen a lot of fear over the past fifteen years. That wasn’t fear.
The sharpness in her eyes changed from waiting to wariness, and he knew she had seen the change in him.
He held her gaze and quested out for her mind. He sought her out on the thread of her fear. But that fear had never been real. She had never shown him anything except her power—and that was strength, not vulnerability. Her mind was closed to him.
She stood, unfurling her hands. Twin balls of flame came to life.
He dodged as the first shot toward him.
It hit the air vent behind him. The fire alarm gave a startled shriek.
The woman raised her wrist to her lips, and he saw too late that her watch wasn’t a watch. “Confirmation that Elias Kitzner is the leader and central point of contact for our unknown network.” Her voice was crisp and professional, without the slightest hint of a tremble. “Do you have my location?”
In other circumstances, he might have been impressed. It took skill to lie well. It took more skill to pretend to be a bad liar.
A tinny voice issued from the watch. “We are at your location. Standing by.”
He reached for her mind again, even though she was no longer looking at him. It was more difficult without direct eye contact, but not impossible. And although she had never given him anything real, he had made himself vulnerable in front of her. A one-way connection was sometimes enough.
But a compact ball of fire whizzed close enough to his ear to singe his hair—an intentional miss, he was sure—and his concentration evaporated.
And then the people on the other end of the watch poured down the ladder like an infestation of ants, human-sized ants in gleaming white hazmat suits with opaque face masks. There were too many of them to fit in the bunker, like a clown car in reverse.
Too many for him to ever fight off on his own.
He didn’t carry weapons. None except the one in his head. It was too great a temptation, he had always maintained. You can tell yourself all you like that violence is the last resort, but the easier you make violence for yourself, the sooner it will become your first resort.
He understood the temptation to use whatever weapons he carried. Only a childhood around parents and surrogate parents who understood powers had trained him early out of the temptation to use his natural weaponry to smooth his path through life at the expense of everyone he encountered.
He had never regretted his stance on weapons until now.
He was stronger than he looked. Laina liked to tease him about his professorial looks. There was no bite to her words; quite the opposite. She loved it. In reality, his skinny frame held hidden muscle from his work in the orchard. He hired help during the harvest season, mostly people who were in need of under-the-table work the way he had once been in need. But he preferred to do most of the work himself. Every person he let into his life represented another danger.
But strength didn’t make him a fighter. And the invaders had a taser that sent him sprawling to the concrete floor with a cry of pain, and a needle that sank into his arm before he had regained control of his body. His vision went blurry. His muscles turned to rubber.
“Target captured,” he heard the woman tell someone who wasn’t here. “En route to PERI headquarters.”
He knew the name. His mind, rapidly filling with static, found room for one final thought—a wordless burst of satisfaction. The enemy that had come for him was the enemy he had started this work to fight. Full circle. It was only right.
On the other side of the orchard, in a farmhouse Laina had always said was too big for two of them, Laina slept in peaceful ignorance. She wouldn’t know anything was wrong until the next morning, when she would oversleep because her husband’s never-quiet-enough morning routine hadn’t forced her to drag herself out of bed before dawn along with him.
When she called the police, they would feed her the reassuring words PERI had told them to say, and set the wheels in motion for the manufactured disappearance they had planned weeks ago. A burned-out husk of a car on the road between the farmhouse and the bar he visited on the rare occasions when he needed a few hours of oblivion badly enough to lie about his whereabouts. An equally burned-out husk of a body, identifiable only through dental records. The records would match.

Samantha wasn't Kyle's only employee to grow their family over the past few years. Georgia's brother Gavin had also been through some big changes.. Thankfully his situation meant that he wouldn't be leaving his job as manager of the Bluewater Village shop any time in the foreseeable future. Quite the opposite, he was unexpectedly committed to staying there.
Gavin had reconciled with his estranged wife April a couple of years ago, and she had moved into his little rented house in Bluewater Village.
Tumblr media
Kyle figured it wouldn't be long now until Gavin resigned from the shop and moved back to the city. He didn't know how April felt about living in a sleepy little seaside town, but Gavin had made no secret of his ambition to succeed in the business world, and you can't do that from Bluewater Village.
Tumblr media
It was a pity - Gavin had been one of the best people to be involved in the bookstores. While little independent shops were closing all over the place and sales of printed books seemed to be in decline, their shops had flourished thanks to his ideas.
It was Gavin who had got their online shop up and running, something Kyle and Cory wouldn't know where to start with. He'd managed their advertising, and encouraged Kyle to 'lean into' the Victorian feel of Bluewater Village.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They were selling many of the same books as the big chains, but somehow having an old cash register and signs in a decorative font makes your business more appealing, at least to tourists - and Bluewater Village had plenty of them.
Tumblr media
Kyle waited with some dread for Gavin's resignation, but it never came. The only announcement they got was that of April's pregnancy.
Tumblr media
Baby Austin was born the following spring, and Kyle was still waiting...
Tumblr media
... but Gavin and April seemed quite content.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Gavin indicated one day that he needed to talk to Kyle about something work-related and serious, he thought it was finally time. But to his surprise, Gavin wasn't resigning. Instead, he needed proof of income and of employment in good standing, for his bank. He and April were applying for a mortgage to buy a house on the beach, here in Bluewater Village.
Tumblr media
The place they had found was large, shabby and neglected. Between her savings and some help from her parents, April had the deposit. Their combined incomes would cover the repayments, with enough left over to gradually restore the place.
Kyle couldn't have been more surprised, especially when Gavin shrugged away talk of his past ambitions as if it meant nothing. Bluewater Village was a great place to raise kids, he said.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The house was right on the beach, with views you don't get in the city
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
It had a good sized yard, and room to grow vegetables. April and Gavin both loved gardening, and if  the soil here was too sandy, that was easily fixed with a few raised beds.
Tumblr media
Inside, the house was cosy and comfortable. They redecorated the kitchen first and spent much of their time there as they didn't yet have a usable living room.
Tumblr media
There would be plenty of room for a growing family, and this was all the more important now, as Gavin and April were expecting baby number two.
Tumblr media
From Kyle - Part 2
Gavin and April got back together via rolling lots of wants for each other. Gavin doesn't seem to care about his career any more and just rolls wants for April, babies, his dog and gardening. So I guess he's happy too.
The Bluewater bookstore is based on this real life shop, in fact the whole of Bluewater Village in my game is based on Greytown, its Victorian beginnings and its revival as a boutique shopping destination. I even have the drive there from the city in mind, when I talk about the winding, hilly road from Richmond to Bluewater Village

get to know me - useless info edition
I was tagged by @echoweaver (so blame her), so here we go:
What do you have under your bed? Big, flat Rubbermaid storage containers. We use them to store out-of-season clothing and computer parts and Christmas wrapping paper and all sorts of things. That way, the stuff is out of the way but still easily accessible when we need it.
Also, dust bunnies.
Favorite candy? SALMIAKKI!!!! (You Finns will understand. LOL ) I'm actually not a huge fan of sweet, so the tangy saltiness of salmiakki appeals to me, even though I'm not all that big on black licorice. The combination of the licorice with the ammonia salt, though, really works for me. A few Finns recommended that I try it when I went on a Nordic cruise with a stop in Helsinki a few years back, so I did and fell and love, and now I order a supply online a couple times a year, since I've never found it for sale in a store here in the US.
Alternatively, I like York Peppermint Patties. Or, if I have a cough, root beer barrel hard candies to suck on.
Describe your favorite shirt: One just like this one, which my daughter bought me for my birthday a few years back because she knows me too well:
Tumblr media
I love wearing it when in the redder/more conspiracy-theory-prone areas of my state. (Remember: My Congressional representative is…Lauren Boebert. My county didn't vote for her since we're one of the bluest counties in the country, but we are unfortunately surrounded by deep-red counties with larger populations, and Boebert is a good representation of those people. It's encouraging that she only barely held on to her seat, at least. *sigh* )
The last thing you drew/doodled was: Because my drawing talent is nil, I only ever doodle music. As in, I draw a staff and then doodle notes on it, often but not always with faces in the note heads. The funny thing is that sometimes the doodles become actual compositions. Are you completely sober rn? Right now? Yes. However, I also have some cannabis brownies in the oven right now, so no promises for later. What's the one thing that annoys you more than anything? Willful ignorance. Being ignorant in general is entirely forgivable, as we are all ignorant of many things. However, when a person refuses to learn because they know that the facts will conflict with what they want to believe, then I will have a problem with them. (See t-shirt above. :) ) Have you ever gotten your tongue stuck to a cold pole during winter? Nope! Though I could give you a long list of much dumber things I've done over the years. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? I could do with some ocean right about now. So, Aruba. What was the single last word you spoke? "It!" Which was part of "Stop it!" Which was yelled at a dog going nuts because he noticed a deer outside. Mind you, there are ALWAYS deer outside, so you'd think after four years of living in this house he'd get it through his thick head that he doesn't have to freak out over them, but…nope. Anyone who tells you that dogs are smart is lying. At least when it comes to this dog. I mean, I love him, but "smart" is not a descriptor I'd use for him.
I shall tag: @papermint-airplane, @solori, and @rollo-rolls
As always, feel free to ignore for whatever reason. :)

Pet Furniture Industry: Furniture Market Insights Trends, Growth, and Future Perspectives
Pet owners around the world are increasingly spending more on their furry friends. The global pet furniture industry has seen tremendous growth over the past decade to cater to pet parents who want to provide their pets with comfortable and stylish spaces in the home. Let's take a look at some key aspects of this growing industry. Trends in Pet Ownership In many parts of the developed world like North America, Europe and Australia, pet ownership rates have risen steadily over the past 20 years. According to recent surveys, nearly 70% of households in the United States and over 50% of households in countries like the UK and Australia own a pet. Dogs and cats remain the most popular pet choices globally, though other small pets like rabbits, hamsters and birds are also gaining popularity in some markets. This growth in pet adoption has been a major driver for increasing pet expenditures. Pet owners today are more willing to spend on high-quality food, grooming products, toys and other accessories that can improve the lives of their pets. Pet Furniture falls under this last category as animal parents want their dogs and cats to have comfortable beds, caves, trees and other structures for resting, playing and overall well-being. Major Global Brands A few corporations have come to dominate the global commercial pet furniture industry with varied product lines tailored for specific regions. MidWest Homes for Pets: This American company holds leading market shares in North America with affordable yet durable dog houses, cat trees, crates and beds. Their classic wire-framed designs are popular amongst value-conscious pet owners. Petsfit: China-based Petsfit has rapidly expanded globally through e-commerce platforms with a wide selection of inexpensive yet stylish options. Their specialty is innovative cat condos that combine towers, furniture and toys. Acte2ou: Acte2ou from France supplies high-end modern and designer pet products to furniture stores and boutiques across Europe and Americas priced towards premium customers. Goldencat: Growing brand Goldencat from Japan is investing in innovative tech-enabled beds, feeders and toys but concentrating sales in Asian markets initially. While these large brands lead global supply chains, local and niche craft brands focusing on sustainability, customization or therapeutic seating are gaining ground through targeted marketing. The diverse and growing industry is benefiting small businesses as well. Consumer Trends - Online Purchases and Customization In the digital era, pet owners increasingly rely on online shopping for convenience, reviews and discounts from retailers like Amazon, Chewy and individual brand sites. This e-commerce dominance presents opportunities for data analytics helping customize products to consumer tastes down to the neighborhood level. Value-addition features tapping artificial intelligence, phone connectivity and video streaming are being introduced for enhanced safety, play and bonding. On-demand 3D printing could make mass customization based on pet size, fur patterns or owner selfies a mainstream reality. These innovative consumer-driven trends will take the industry to new frontiers in coming years. In conclusion, the global pet furniture industry has flourished steadily but consistently over the last decade due to growing pet ownership, humanization of animals and new product options. With rising populations in developing nations projected to push even more owners into the premium pet care market, multi-billion dollar valuations.

Finding the Perfect Yorkshire Terrier for Sale in India: A Comprehensive Guide
Are you captivated by the charm of the Yorkshire Terrier and eager to bring one into your home? Known for their elegance, intelligence, and lively personality, Yorkshire Terriers (often called Yorkies) make wonderful companions. If you’re in India and searching for a Yorkshire Terrier for sale, this guide will help you navigate the process and ensure you find a healthy, happy puppy that fits your lifestyle.
Why Choose a Yorkshire Terrier?
1. Charming Appearance: With their long, silky fur and small stature, Yorkshire Terriers are often considered one of the most glamorous small dog breeds. Their striking appearance, combined with their expressive eyes, makes them stand out wherever they go.
2. Affectionate Nature: Despite their small size, Yorkies have a big heart. They are known for forming strong bonds with their owners and thrive on affection and attention. Their loyal and loving nature makes them ideal companions for both individuals and families.
3. Intelligence and Trainability: Yorkshire Terriers are intelligent and can be trained to perform various tricks and commands. They enjoy engaging in activities that stimulate their minds, and with the right training, they can adapt well to different living environments.
Where to Find Yorkshire Terriers for Sale in India
1. Reputable Breeders
Research and Reviews: Start by researching breeders who specialize in Yorkshire Terriers. Look for reviews and testimonials from previous customers to gauge the breeder’s reputation. A responsible breeder will be transparent about the health and lineage of their puppies and will provide you with relevant health clearances.
Visit the Breeder: If possible, visit the breeder’s facility. This allows you to see the living conditions of the puppies and their parents, ensuring they are well-cared for and healthy. A reputable breeder will be happy to answer your questions and show you their breeding practices.
2. Pet Stores
Local Pet Stores: Some pet stores may have Yorkshire Terriers for sale. Ensure that the store sources its puppies from reputable breeders and maintains high standards of care. Avoid stores that cannot provide information about the puppies’ background and health.
Online Pet Retailers: Online platforms also list Yorkshire Terriers for sale. Look for platforms that offer detailed information about the puppies and their breeders. Check reviews and ratings to ensure the legitimacy of the sellers.
3. Rescue Organizations
Adoption Options: Consider checking with rescue organizations and shelters. While Yorkshire Terriers are less commonly found in shelters, some may occasionally have them or similar small breeds available for adoption. Adopting a rescue puppy can be a rewarding experience and provides a loving home to a dog in need.
Preparing for Your Yorkshire Terrier
1. Home Preparation: Before bringing your new Yorkshire Terrier home, ensure you have all the essentials: a comfortable bed, toys, grooming supplies, and high-quality food. Yorkies have specific grooming needs due to their long fur, so be prepared for regular brushing and care.
2. Health and Wellness: Schedule a veterinary check-up soon after bringing your Yorkie home. Regular veterinary visits, a balanced diet, and proper exercise are crucial for maintaining your puppy’s health and well-being.
3. Training and Socialization: Start training and socializing your Yorkshire Terrier early. They are intelligent and respond well to positive reinforcement. Socializing them with different people, pets, and environments helps them grow into well-adjusted and confident dogs.
Conclusion
Finding a Yorkshire Terrier for sale in India can be an exciting journey, filled with the promise of a loyal and loving companion. By choosing a reputable breeder or adoption option and preparing adequately for your new puppy, you can ensure a happy and fulfilling experience for both you and your Yorkshire Terrier. Klee Kai Puppies for Sale: Your Guide to Finding the Perfect Companion
If you're considering adding a Klee Kai puppy to your family, you're in for a delightful experience. These small, intelligent, and affectionate dogs are a relatively new breed, developed in the 1970s to create a smaller version of the Alaskan Husky. With their striking looks and vibrant personalities, Klee Kais are rapidly gaining popularity among dog enthusiasts. Here's everything you need to know about finding Klee Kai puppies for sale and what to expect when bringing one home.
Understanding the Klee Kai Breed
Klee Kais come in three sizes: Toy, Miniature, and Standard. Regardless of size, they share the same breed characteristics, including a wedge-shaped head, erect triangular ears, and a double coat that can be in various colors such as black and white, red and white, or gray and white. They have a distinct mask that adds to their expressive appearance.
This breed is known for its high energy levels, intelligence, and curiosity. They are quick learners, making them relatively easy to train, but they can also be quite independent and stubborn at times. Early socialization and consistent training are essential to ensure they grow into well-behaved adults.
Where to Find Klee Kai Puppies for Sale
When searching for Klee Kai Price, it's crucial to find a reputable breeder. Responsible breeders prioritize the health and well-being of their dogs, ensuring they are raised in a safe and loving environment. They also conduct health screenings to minimize the risk of genetic disorders.
Start by checking the American Klee Kai Association (AKKA) or other reputable breed organizations for a list of certified breeders. These organizations maintain high standards for breeding practices and can provide valuable resources and guidance.
You can also attend dog shows and events to meet breeders and see Klee Kais in action. Networking with current Klee Kai owners through online forums and social media groups can provide personal recommendations and insights into the breed.
Questions to Ask a Breeder
When you've found a potential breeder, it's essential to ask the right questions to ensure you're making an informed decision. Some key questions include:
Can I meet the puppy's parents? Seeing the puppy's parents can give you an idea of their temperament and appearance.
What health tests have been performed? Reputable breeders will screen for common health issues such as patellar luxation and heart conditions.
What is the socialization process like? Puppies should be exposed to various environments, sounds, and people to develop into well-adjusted dogs.
Do you offer a health guarantee? A health guarantee demonstrates the breeder's confidence in their breeding program and commitment to the puppies' well-being.
Can I see your breeding facility? Visiting the facility ensures the puppies are raised in a clean and humane environment.
Preparing for Your Klee Kai Puppy
Once you've found your perfect Klee Kai puppy, it's time to prepare for their arrival. Ensure you have all the necessary supplies, including a crate, bed, food and water bowls, high-quality puppy food, toys, and grooming tools.
Puppy-proof your home by removing any hazards and setting up a safe space for your new companion. Establish a consistent routine for feeding, potty breaks, and training to help your puppy adjust to their new environment.
Training and Socialization
Klee Kais are highly trainable, but they require patience and consistency. Positive reinforcement methods, such as treats and praise, work best with this breed. Early socialization is crucial to prevent behavioral issues, so expose your puppy to different people, pets, and situations from a young age.
Enroll in puppy training classes to provide structured learning and socialization opportunities. Regular exercise and mental stimulation are also essential to keep your Klee Kai happy and healthy.

How to Choose the Right Accessories for Your Pet
Consider Your Pet's Size and Breed

Focus on Safety and Comfort
Safety and comfort should be your top priorities. Look for products made from non-toxic materials and designed with your pet's well-being in mind.
Read Reviews and Ratings
Before purchasing, take some time to read reviews and ratings. Other pet owners' experiences can provide valuable insights and help you make informed decisions.
Shopping for pet accessories doesn't have to be a hassle or cost a fortune. With Petsary, you get access to high-quality, affordable products that your pet will love. Finding the Perfect Mini Sheepadoodle Puppy for Sale: A Guide for Prospective Pet Owners
When it comes to choosing a new furry family member, few breeds can rival the charm and appeal of a Mini Sheepadoodle. These adorable, affectionate, and intelligent dogs are a crossbreed between a Miniature Poodle and an Old English Sheepdog. If you’re considering bringing a Mini Sheepadoodle puppy into your home, there are several important factors to consider to ensure you find the perfect match for your family.
Understanding the Mini Sheepadoodle Breed
Before starting your search for a Mini Sheepadoodle puppy for sale, it's essential to understand what makes this breed so special. Mini Sheepadoodles inherit the best traits from both parent breeds. They are known for their hypoallergenic coats, which make them an excellent choice for families with allergies. These dogs are also highly intelligent and easily trainable, thanks to their Poodle lineage, and they inherit the playful and friendly nature of the Old English Sheepdog.
Mini Sheepadoodles typically weigh between 25 to 45 pounds and stand around 15 to 18 inches tall at the shoulder. Their size makes them a versatile choice for both apartment living and larger homes with yards. Additionally, their loving and social nature means they thrive in family settings, especially where they receive plenty of attention and mental stimulation.
Finding a Reputable Breeder
The first step in finding a Mini Sheepadoodle puppy for sale is to locate a reputable breeder. A responsible breeder prioritizes the health and well-being of their dogs, ensuring they are well-socialized and raised in a nurturing environment. Here are some tips for finding a trustworthy breeder:
Research: Start by researching breeders online. Look for reviews, testimonials, and any red flags that might indicate a breeder is not reputable.
Visit the Breeder: Whenever possible, visit the breeder’s facility to see the conditions in which the puppies are raised. A reputable breeder will be happy to show you around and answer any questions you may have.
Ask for Health Clearances: Ensure the breeder provides health clearances for the puppy’s parents. This includes screening for common genetic conditions that could affect the breed.
Meet the Parents: Meeting the puppy’s parents can give you a good idea of what to expect in terms of temperament and size.
Contracts and Guarantees: A reputable breeder will offer a contract that includes health guarantees and outlines the responsibilities of both the buyer and the breeder.
Preparing for Your New Puppy
Once you've found a Mini Sheepadoodle puppy for sale and are ready to bring them home, preparation is key. Here are some steps to ensure a smooth transition:
Puppy-Proof Your Home: Remove any hazards and secure any items that could be harmful to your new puppy. This includes electrical cords, toxic plants, and small objects they could swallow.
Gather Supplies: Stock up on essential supplies such as a crate, bedding, food and water dishes, high-quality puppy food, toys, and grooming tools.
Schedule a Vet Visit: Arrange a visit to the veterinarian shortly after bringing your puppy home to ensure they are healthy and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Begin Training Early: Start basic training and socialization as soon as possible. Mini Sheepadoodles are highly intelligent and respond well to positive reinforcement techniques.
Establish a Routine: Dogs thrive on routine, so establish a consistent schedule for feeding, potty breaks, playtime, and training sessions.
The Joy of Owning a Mini Sheepadoodle
Owning a Mini Sheepadoodle can be a deeply rewarding experience. These affectionate and intelligent dogs quickly become beloved members of the family, providing companionship, entertainment, and unconditional love. With the right preparation and commitment, your Mini Sheepadoodle will thrive and bring joy to your household for many years to come.
When searching for a Mini Sheepadoodle puppy for sale, remember that patience and diligence are key. By taking the time to find a reputable breeder and preparing adequately for your new furry friend, you can ensure a happy and healthy start to your life together.
