#don't get me wrong I like low key ships as well but it's just a fundamentally different thing and some characters

So when I've been complaining about even fanfiction not being romantic enough, part of what I mean by that is that people take huge, gothic characters in pairings with gigantic, dramatic stakes full of titanic emotions and then make them feel small and mundane. Stripping the very romanicism from the bones of the romance.

There are many things that are deeply appealing to me about B&tB pairings or 'unlikely' pairings or Gothic romance in general, but something that is less structural while still being absolutely key is that it's not an easy relationship to get the characters into. It's not something that would happen under ordinary circumstances for either person. It's not a bond that can be forged without some form of pressure preventing these people from continuing in their regular patterns.

If you're writing an E/C fic where you start from scratch, the moment they so much as touch for the first time should be absolutely show-stoppingly prodigious. It can never be casual, not between these two, the idea of a touch being allowed should be an Event. The reader's heart should be thundering in their chest, the suspense should be palpable, the consummation divine. A single touch is a consummation for them, there should be that much tension. If they hold hands and I'm not holding my breath, you have done it wrong. The first kiss should feel like an atom bomb going off, the world should shift on its axis, a line is being crossed which has left both characters forever altered.

And people will instead write them like a standard romance novel couple who make standard pervy comments in the narration, get a bit flirty, casually hook up and then weigh pros and cons about whether dating fits into their life plans or not. All of this being totally without weight, without feeling like any kind of Rubicon has been crossed or that it's significant for the characters to have entered into something which must foundationally alter their worldview.

Reylo brushing fingers across the galaxy and it being the turning point of the entire narrative, given the same majesty and mystical significance as Luke's vision in the cave or Yoda lifting the X-Wing is the exact correct amount of emphasis for them reaching towards each other in tenderness. You have a character defined by abandonment and loneliness and a character who is surrounded by people but never touched, both unseen by anyone else, both aching for connection, both never having felt anything like this before, both aware of the galaxy-spanning consequences of what they're feeling. Them touching is le big deal.

The kiss for the B&tB pairing, the EtL pairing, any Gothic pairing has to feel out of reach, a chasm that cannot be crossed- until it happens, impossible yet inevitable. Something the characters could never have conceived of taking place at the beginning of the story, an infinite abyss of which they have somehow found themselves on the other side. You have to do the work to get them there, you have to build that bridge stone by stone, and it should be a sublime agony of seeing the path take shape while it still feels like the gap is just unbridgable, that no matter how close you come, it will never be complete, they can never get all the way across. Until they do.

If you write characters who have (or should have) that kind of vast gulf separating them as just kind of falling into an intimacy which isn't earned and thus means nothing, I just have no idea why we're here. Why buy a giant gothic castle of romanticism and then bulldoze it to build a minimalist condo? Everything about the pairing that makes it that pairing is stripped away. If these were people who could just meet at a party and end up in bed, they would be completely different people.

For the weekly theme: a town with a secret!!!

(Aka Hermittown is a remote village in the wilderness, and it's inhabited by a bunch of fae)

You.... might want to think twice before you decide to visit Hermittown for your summer holidays. Don't get me wrong, the town is perfectly pleasant, and the scenic views all around it are a magnet for some people, but... you really shouldn't spend too much time there

You walk through the main street, noticing how the moss growing all around on the walls seems to... almost rustle in the breeze? That's odd, moss should not be able to do that. But that thought quickly exaporates from your head as you see Bdubs waving at you from the doorway of the local inn. "Hey, come on over!!! I have so much new gossip to share with you!!!" His eyes shine in the low afternoon light, beconing you closer

Another day you head towards the docs, eager to breathe in some salty sea air. On your way, you see Xb working on something in his and Keralis' boat repair service. You could have sworn that the lines on the sides of his neck aren't just scars, like he always said. You've seen how long he can stay underwater while working on another ship's broken hull, it should not be possible... but you know better than to push him, especially when his Keralis' cold and calculating gaze sweeps over you, almost pushing you away from the shop

The local apothecary might seem outdated to some, but you know first hand just how well Cub's potions work, no matter what ails you. You shudder, thinking about Cub's icy blue eyes stating at you from the darkness behind the counter. If he can brew excellent medicine, it's only natural he could brew a VERY efficient poison

As you rest on a meadow nearby, with your back against a tree, you hear footsteps behind you. It's Tango, his grin as wide as always. He asks you to come visit him in his mansion. It's just over a hill, next to the village, it's only a short walk away! He has something JUST delightful that he's been working on over there, and he has to show you!!! You politely decline, not missing how sharp his teeth are when he grins at you, or how the twinkle in his eyes turns them red for a split second

There is an antique store in the city, run by an eccentric man called Mumbo. You wanted to peruse his wares a couple of times, but all items in the shop have tiny stickers with text you cannot decipher. It might be better to not purchase them, after all. Who knows what kind of deal are they?

Speaking of deals... Scar can pop up from thin air, whenever you are alone, not doing anything important. He reminds you of a bird of prey a bit, swooping in from the sky when he sees an opening. You don't really understand half of the deals and contracts he talks about, but with the way his teeth are just a bit too sharp and his gaze just a little too hungry, you're sure walking away is the only sane option

Hypno...oh gosh, listening to him tell his stories in the tavern is something you try to avoid at all costs. His voice always draws you in, no matter how you resist. Before you know it, half of the night has passed, and he smiles at you smugly when you hurry back home. You hope he won't ever propose to walk you back, as you're not sure you'll be able to decline

You decide to go shopping in the local market. You're not quite sure how that happened, but you're walking out of there with one too many bags, having bought way more than you initially planned. Etho, the owner, smiles at you from behind his mask, saying his goodbyes and throwing one more "buy 3, pay for 2" coupon to one of the bags you're carrying. The paper seems to shimmer in the morning light, the letters almost moving across its surface

Staying outside of your little rented house when the sun has set is really not ideal. You shudder, as you jump up the stairs and fumble with the key. There is a pair of bright purple eyes watching your every move from the darkness, just outside the radius of your porch light. When you turn around one last time, you swear you see a flash of red fabric, as the eyes disappear

The truth is, the hermits aren't malicious people. Some are more mischievous than others, sure. Nobody really knows what Scar's deal is either. Mumbo has more than once reminded him they shouldn't be scaring off visitors but it doesn't seem to stop him. They enjoy messing with the humans that come through, maybe taking a little bit of advantage, but they don't want to actually hurt them.

No, most of the hermits are friendly, but they're protective of each other. Keralis has heard how humans try and take advantage of things they don't understand. Bdubs' eyes are always watching through the moss for ill intentions, and Hypno is a good judge of character when somebody's inhibitions are down. They look after each other.

It also doesn't help that a lot of them can forget how fragile humans can be. Yes, Tango, your mansion might be full of fun, but that fun is also deadly to most humans. Grian, they appreciate him looking after them, but his true form can be a little disturbing. The last thing they need is the town becoming a paranormal hotspot again! Those people were obnoxious. How are they supposed to have date nights when they keep waving their EMF readers around?

See above (tho idk if that counts as 'everyone' lol). But speaking of Gaius, I can't stand ship stuff where he's portrayed as (genuinely, not like as part of play) super dominant/pushy/rapey. Like yeah he's pretty intimidating and looks like he'd be the type if you only have a very surface view of him, but considering his history I can't see him not being really careful about the power dynamic. Plus come on, he's a big softie deep down (one good thing of X2's portrayal of him is showing more of that side of him). Tho again idk if that counts as 'everyone', just that I've seen it often enough to dislike it...

Gaiwin, tho it's not popular due to small number of ppl actually interested it rather than people disliking it.

For the latter, Jumilla. Like I can get preferring other ships and stuff, but the amount of vitriol it sometimes gets when it's such a well-balanced, mutually respectful and caring couple is sad to see. It's also not much of a threat to other ships considering the ending (on top of being rather low-key on the actual canon romance stuff aside from a few scenes here and there), so I don't get the need to put it down to prop other ships up :/

Plus what better way than to get back at your rival (Tolys) than by fucking their wife. (Of course sex before marriage is a sin and all so Gil being a model God fearing Christian has to get married before he can sleep with his enemy's wife)

Okay so what about our dear bride? Well Feliks learns of this and is like "wtf, I'm not marrying your pathetic ass." Gil's like "perfect we'll get your measurements for the dress and we'll be married in no time!"

The wedding day arrives and Gilbert basically tells Feliks that he better commit to the fuckin' bit or there will be hell to pay.

It's a very awkward ceremony even if this was a perfectly normal wedding, Feliks is a little freaked out because this is a big social event, But the people doing his makeup and stuff are like it's okay everyone is nervous before the wedding you'll do great! so he decides okay let's just get this over with, play my part and discretely piss Gilbert off somehow to make it worth my wild and then I can go back to whatever I was doing previously (going through an identity crisis) He, however doesn't realize that Gil is committed to the marriage bit.

Now their first night together? Well that's a whole other story

Now, on to your questions! If you were looking for short answers you asked the wrong person. Abandon all hope ye who enter here!

I’ll get to the shorter answers first:

“Who do you ship?”- Let me preface this by stating that I don't really care about ships, canon or otherwise. Like… at all. It takes a LOT to make me care about a romance in any story. Luckily, MHA is an action-shonen anime, so not a lot of that going on. However, I will try to put some more thought into this topic than I usually do. 

If we’re talking confirmed canon ships (discounting married couples), the only two I can even think of are Midoriya/Ochako and Denki/Jiro. I’m sure there are others, but MHA is (thankfully) very light on romance, so those two seem to be the only ones that have actually been confirmed as canon. (Forgive me if I’m wrong; I literally had to Google “canon MHA ships”.) Midoriya/Ochako is cute, and I love their dynamic. I think they'd be a good/healthy couple, but they're perfectly fine just as friends. Denki/Jiro is also sort of cute, a little more on the “belligerent sexual tension” side, but there’s not nearly as much to work with. That may be because these two don’t get as much focus as characters, I don’t know. Overall, the students in this show are more mature than their peers, so they’ve had to be more thoughtful about their futures and life decisions. They’re also still just kids. Adolescent relationships almost never last irl, and in fiction they seem to be portrayed in a similarly shallow vein, so I see no point getting invested.

If we’re talking non-canon, it’s still not my thing. I kind of low-key ship All Might/Inko Midoriya, but ONLY if Hisaishi Midoriya was out of the picture (I HATE cheating, even in fiction). That’s probably about it. I steer clear of shipping wars, so I’m not going to get into any of the other non-canon ships. I don’t care enough to paint a target on myself. 

The ships I really care about are the friendships. I'm way more into those, and found family! MHA is full of both, which is one of the many reasons I love it! (If you want to know who I “ship” in terms of “friendships” I’ll post a follow-up answer for that.) 

“Least favorite characters?”- I’m going to qualify my answer by setting aside characters you’re meant to dislike/hate (i.e. the villains/the Hero Safety Commission). Of those left, Mineta might be the only character I actively dislike. I think his design is fun, and his quirk is offbeat, but his personality is mostly awful. If he was a villain, or just some random background person, he wouldn’t grate as much. But Mineta is supposed to be funny and sympathetic. I don't hate him, I just... That character type (95% pervert) has never appealed to me, no matter the series. I'm glad he's gotten a bit better in the last few arcs, but it's been too little, too late for me to really like him. 

I also found Monoma irritating, but he’s gotten better.

Now onto my “long” answer. You have been warned! 

“Fav MHA character(s)?”- I have to say, a big part of the reason I love most of the characters in this show is the translation/VA work, as well as the animation. This may be the best English VA cast for a show I’ve ever heard, and the translation is exceptional. 

Aside from that, I love (or love to hate) pretty much all the main and side characters in the whole series. I think they all have something interesting to contribute to the story, even if they’re only in one scene. On the “villain” side, Twice is arguably my favorite, but I find all the main baddies compelling, and even some of the minor ones. On the “hero” side, the class 1-A kids have a special place in my heart, along with Mirio, Tamaki, All Might and Aizawa. 

However, if I have to pick favorites, my top 3 are Midoriya, Todoroki and Kirishima; not necessarily in that order. And that’s only if I have to really whittle it down, because the top tier would be even larger otherwise. (I do love a good ensemble!) Since you asked my reasons for picking my favorite(s), and I’m trying hard not to write an essay, I shall break it down thusly:

You know I never say anything because people will call me a hater but the inclusion of Frederica is so bizarre to me.I have been saying for years that I’d like Akane’s design to be a little mature and her to be a part of field action?Lo and behold Frederica’s grand entrance in SS3.Not only does she have the greatest design among the female cast,she is an experienced fighter who can fight in red stilettos,a great sniper who handles a Barrett m95 like no one’s business.She also has a background in psychology and profiling(but she mostly used Saiga’s class to obsess over Kougami lol).It’s like the writers took everything I wanted for Akane and gave it to her.Also she got fanservice scenes with both Kougami and Ginoza eg the water bottle scene with Kougami in ss3 and the providence explosion scene with Ginoza.Also lots of shots of Frederica in ss3 where you can see her naked,taking a bath,or wearing pretty lacy underwear so I guess fanservice is okay if it’s Frederica?A lot of shippers pretend Kougami barely tolerates her but from what I see Kougami gets along so well with her(can’t blame him because obviously she’s sweet and pretty and flirty and also a great boss,things Akane was never allowed to be)and the horrible part is I can actually see them being a good couple.Even Ginoza was smitten enough to arrange a cafe for her when she’s stressed and he thinks she’s so cool that she’s the female Kougami?Wow.Is this about to be a love triangle?!!!But if I point these out obviously I’ll be called jealous and hateful.But this is what I have wanted for Akane for years now.I feel sad and disappointed and I can’t even talk about it.

Anyways, as a fan's PoV, when Sinners of the System first came up, I remember Dir. Shiotani wants to intentionally introduce new characters who would play a major role. And when the fans pointed "Akane's lack of screen time" since SSS trilogy upto S3/FI, he said he purposefully wants to feature other characters as protagonist.

I would say Frederica is not a coincidence nor a side character. Once the PPP novel and Season 4 is out, I would expound on that one. For the meantime, I will patiently wait in silence 😅.

I don't consider her as a love triangle for KoAka (a.k.a. Shinkane) because Kogami x Akane is not a thing. As confirmed by everybody in Psycho-Pass Production Committee even the Seiyuus themselves (*Coughs* Seki-san 😷).

I leave it to my fellow fans' "profiling" and/or "deduction" abilities. But I think most of us have that gut-feeling already. But again, it's too early to say something and I can't speak on behalf of the PPC.

During the promotionals, I made some ノイズログ which expresses my personal opinion as a fan in this Tumblr Space. Because I don't want fans to feel betrayed. And at the same time, I can't stand the growing "misdirection" of some KoAka fans (Japanese Shinya x Akane fans) which they twist some points of the story. It seems like they only watch PSYCHO-PASS for Shinya x Akane only, instead of enjoying the overall plot.

For now, it is what it is until the official novel and potential Season 4 is released.

Meanwhile, I enjoy and cherish the interactions of Shinya x Akane as they are portrayed in the anime.

For the writer's and production crew, I understand about the marketing strategy but I think they should be sensitive on how the fanbase will perceive things before they start "selling out" those merch 🤭 P.S. no pun intended. [i.e selling KoAka merch while low-key supporting Fredegami 😅]

I don't have beef with the J-KoAka's, because there's no wrong in betting on our fave ship. But we should be open to all kinds of Interpretation the Production Committee is trying to convey.

Let's just wait for the next Season. And no matter how it turns out, Shinkane/KoAka fanbase will always remain as solid as ever 💖!!!

tim as victoria, only i give the part more backstory and say that tim’s a time traveler or a space man or something and he was totally going to leave and go back to his time/planet/whatever but then he met bernard and he’s like hm actually i’m fine here 🥰

like he could build a time machine or fix his spaceship or whatever but he's too busy making heart eyes at the cute boy at the shop

bernard proposes during a midnight picnic and tim's a little hesitant bc like there's a lot bernard doesn't know about him

and then bernard offers to get him the star and tim's like well shit i'm gonna marry this man

and then tim's like oh shit im gonna marry this man, how am I going to tell my family

bernard goes off for the star and tim spirals into panic mode and ends up building a space ship/time machine/whatever in like three days so he can get his family there in time for the engagement/marriage

(this is the first time he's spoken to any of them in months. they all think he's dead. so getting a wedding invitation from him is a pleasant surprise.)

also tim knows kon from his time Before he crash landed in bernard's village and they both low-key had crushes on each other when they were working (?) together. also they each think the other is dead.

bernard and kon mostly follow the plot of stardust, bernard dragging kon back to show tim, kon escaping, the witch trying to eat kon's heart to gain immortality, the king's kids chasing kon to get the stone that knocked him out of the sky, etc etc

except instead of bernard (tristain) going back to the village to break up with vtim (victoria), tim starts to get worried about bernard and decides to venture into the land beyond the wall himself and ends up helping bernard's mother save kon from the witch who wants to eat his heart

mostly this is an excuse to write this scene:

"I'm looking for a fallen star - have you seen one around?" Bernard asks, looking around the crater like a star is just going to randomly materialize.

But no, there's just a man in strangely bright, skin-tight clothing. He's got something weird on his head, too - it's not a hat, but two dark circles connected by a piece of something thin and black, and then longer sticks of the same material run down to hook behind his ears. Honestly, the only part of his clothing that Bernard recognizes is his coat, which looks to be made of dark leather.

"That would be me," the guy says, waving his hands in the air melodramatically.

Bernard stares at him for a long second. "You don't look like a star," he feels the need to point out.

The guy just shrugs. "I dunno what to tell you, man. Believe me or don't, it's not my problem."

Bernard studies him. "No, I believe you," he announces after a minute. "No one around here dresses like..." He gestures towards the guy's weird colorful outfit. "...that."

The guy scowls. "What's wrong with how I dress?" he demands, belligerent.

"Nothing," Bernard says, because it's a nice view if nothing else. He wonders how Tim feels about this kind of outfit. "I've just never seen anything like it before. What's it made of, anyway?"

"Spandex," the guy says shortly.

Spandex, Bernard mouths silently to himself. What the hell does that mean? Whatever, he has more important questions right now: "So why are you here? Why did you fall?"

The guy's scowl deepens. "I got hit," he mutters sullenly.

Bernard doesn't think he heard that right. "What?"

"I got hit," the guy says, a little louder but no less disgruntled. He picks something up from beside him - it looks like a necklace of some sort, maybe? - and waves it around. "By this."

"Huh," says Bernard. He doesn't know what else he can say.

The guy glares at the necklace like it's the source of all his problems - which, if Bernard takes his story at face value, it kind of is - then shrugs and fastens it around his neck. "Finders keepers."

Thoughts on the “friendship narrative”

Note: I wrote most of this a few months ago and never posted it but now that the shit show is over i thought I could bring this back up

I made another post that did kinda well about the beginning friendship narrative before but of course everything was completely wrong. I guess it could still be the same idea used in a different way so if you wanna check that out here's the link.

Anyway, like i said that was about the beginning of it but lately I've been thinking a lot about how the rest of it might unfold so here are a few thoughts:

So i think most of larries' first instincts on this are that it is gonna be very low key, very casual and believable and very much like almost any other stunt but maybe a bit better done. And for most of it i agree, there are definitely so much more possibilities for it to happen like this. Louis and Harry are very private people and i am sure that even when they start dating publicly (if they do) we would still not see much of it.

What is the problem with that then if we all agree on it? well i was thinking, what if a public discourse is started over this whole thing? what if people from the general public somehow start to believe/realize that maybe they were actually together all along? or start finding things fishy? or even if that doesn't happen, what if they decide to get the most out of the announcement of their relationship? what if they decide to create a big ass narrative that everyone (both fans and gp) will happily and completely eat up so they can save themselves from any risks and keep absolutely everything (meaning, the public's opinion on it and the media as well) under control?

Well, my mind is crazy and I've been thinking about this for a long while so I'm gonna tell you what I came up with:

Disclaimer: this is more than likely not going to happen but it would be in my opinion a good idea and a great way to get the most out of it.

Imagine they make a big ass very dramatic narrative. I'm thinking they make it so big and dramatic that it has everyone completely fed up on it the same way everyone was obsessed with the Olivia/Joshua/Sabrina drama last year.

also i was thinking they make it so they can subtly deny that Larry was real before and it just actually became a thing recently.

i know it sounds kinda ridiculous but bear with me.

in very basic words, this could be the narrative:

they always liked each other, there was always tension, maybe something happened on the early days when they were both single but decided not to do anything about it bc they didn't want to affect their work and their band mates. they were always close and they kind of always knew they were each other's “the one” but we're too scared to admit it. but then, boom, they are suddenly spending lots of time together again for whatever reason and now that they are both single they realize that they want to be with the other but still don't talk about it, they have a complicated relationship where they are not boyfriends but they are also not just friends and everyone can see that even if they don't accept it. they talk about the other with stars in their eyes and they mention being each other's person, everyone suspects and ships them but they admit in a badly disguised sad way that they are not actually together. there can also be some other big drama like someone else getting involved, they can feed Harry's womanizer/afraid of compromise image and make it out to be like, by trying to not fuck up things with Louis, he dates another woman, maybe he gets in a hotel with her and gets out alone the next morning looking regretful, and then make it more dramatic to make it seem like Louis is heartbroken, and then somehow harry apologizes and then they are very obviously together and happy for a while before they announce it.

i know. it sounds like a fanfic. but just imagine how fed up and invested people will be. we all know they can eat up basically any narrative they're fed but this impossible love/soulmates way too dramatic thing is definitely something they'll love.

Now I'm going to explain how this thing could work out without making it too suspicious with way more details.

Phase one: we were always in love but it was impossible to be together.

it could be something one of them actually talks about publicly on some talk show, i don't know why but i see harry saying this.

“oh yeah, i had a massive crush on him, and after a while i found out it was kinda mutual but we decided not to do anything about it bc we didn't want to affect the band, you know those were other times and it probably wouldn't have worked out, not bc i didn't love him, i did, still do, he's my best friend, but having to hide? i don't think we would've been able to manage that” and then someone comments how it was kinda obvious that they liked each other and harry says that there was some tension and that it was a pain in the ass to go through all that pining but in the end it was for the best.

he could also talk about writing some songs about that, like something great, happily or just a little bit of your heart “oh i wrote that one about being kinda in love with him but having to accept the fact that i would only ever be his friend bc we couldn't be together and he was already with someone else and therefore i would only have a little bit of his heart, it's wired to finally say it but i guess we're both out now so i can talk about it” the GP would be dying and sobbing on the TikTok comments from that part of the video with the song playing in the back.

i can also totally see people being like “oh noo, that's why he could never have a serious long lasting relationship until years after he lost contact with Louis, because having to spend time with him never allowed him to fully move on and fall in love with someone else, noOoO😭😭😭”, so tragic, so convenient, so perfect.

now i bet you're thinking, how would he bring that up? well, maybe after months or maybe longer of them again being publicly close friends a host of a show can “find” that video of harry saying that Lou was his first real crush and the classic “it was mutual we discussed it” bc that is pretty much the biggest most easy to believe Larry proof.

with this, the plant will be seeded, i can garantee you so many people will start shipping them without knowing shit about Larry and it'll all start. this also practically eliminates any possibility of past Larry “rumors” to ruin this thing, everyone will see that we weren't completely, but still mostly wrong.

Also like i said, obviously most people won't look into Larry bc they don't think it to be that important and with the help of the media it will be easy to control the narrative.

Phase two: the rebirth of a love that never should have (or maybe never) died.

okay so basically this is the normal typically stunty part of the narrative, they will spend more and more time together and they will make it seem as organic as possible. not too many paparazzi, and those will of course actually look natural. they could slowly (at least Louis) start to be more active on social media, like posting more pictures and videos and Instagram stories that will slowly start to include harry more and more, but of course, all very subtle. their friends and family will help as well, talking about them being together, casually posting them together (perhaps some pics or videos in which they are accidentally caught in the blurry/barely visible back, a bit more close and touchy than normal), all that stuff. they support the others projects and go to each other's concerts, they party together and stick to each other on public events like awards ceremonies. this part will last a few months.

they will also be asked about Harry's statement and say that no matter what, they love each other and are the other's best friend but no more than that, like i said earlier, looking a bit down about it.

they are so cute and so obviously in love that everyone ships them, normal people who aren't fans probably don't even listen to their music will make edits about them, everyone is anxiously waiting for the latest news the tabloids are gonna give on their relationship.

of course I'm not stupid, so many people will be hateful and awful about it, but mostly it will be fine, it will be the new hot gossip of the year. plus, we've seen how much people enjoy dramatic gay love stories (hello? young royals and heartstopper)

Phase three: Oh no! Drama!

Now this is gonna be the real catch, the part where absolutely EVERYONE will know what's going on, the part where shit will start trending and everyone will be oh so worried for them.

this is also kind of an optional part but like is said, if they decide they want to milk it, this is definitely the way to go.

there could be two kinds of drama:

they are too afraid of what will happen and when one of them can't hold it anymore and confesses and the other runs away.

some model gets involved.

now, obviously the first one is a lot harder to make bc how would the public find that out? bc of the tabloids? no, that would be too obvious. some paparazzi that just happened to be there to film a big dramatic fight where one waits for the other to say they love them back while on the pouring rain? no, again way too fucking obvious and telenovela like, so no. i don't think we can go with that one. so we can just go with the good old womanizer/afraid of compromise image that everyone loves and knows.

maybe a few days before the model fiasco happens they are seen way too close together, perhaps almost kissing or actually kissing in a very blurry potato camera filmed video. people are going crazy, they are actually together wtf!

and then nothing. at this point they were together everyday, maybe people were already suspecting that they are living together but now they are not getting nothing. what happened?

Oh No! Harry what have you done?!

everyone is shocked! what happened? was it never real? and if it was, did harry cheat on Louis? or were they never something serious? still why would he do that to him? that is so shitty!

and then a few days later, Louis shows up at a concert, looking sick and devasted and then he sings a very sad dramatic song, it could be a break-up cover song, or even worse, a new romantic song that everyone knows is about harry because it's just that obvious, but he can't get through it trying to control himself, maybe not being able to do it, he starts crying or stops the concert.

everyone understands now, there was something there and harry fucked it up, but why?

and then harry somehow explains it, probably singing a song, making it seem as the only way he has to apologize to Louis, he has to make it publicly bc Louis just won't let him get close.

so sad, so dramatic, such great food for gossipers.

Phase four: reconciliation! yay! finally the happily (kdbxskjd) ever after!

we see them together again, except now it's different, harry is way more obvious and it is very noticeable that he is trying to win Louis back but he's already done that, Louis is obviously just as in love with harry but perhaps taking his distance for while just in case.

time passes, they are okay now, better than okay, they are together.

from then on they could announce their relationship or not, and if they do it, it will be very simple I'm sure, that's just how they are.

but yeah, anyway! this is a good narrative they could do, people would absolutely eat it and by the end they could get a big part (hopefully a majority) of the public to accept their love.

let me know your thoughts, i know this sounds crazy and like way too much but people love that kind of shit, i would too tbh.

my all-time ultimate fave character: we all know it's ariel lbr but...again not to be too predictable, andrina! she's SO much funny in every incarnation i read of her and she's the only character that seems to make it with a semblance of character integrity (even more so than ariel who does NOT fare well with these sequels)

a character I didn’t used to like but now do: king triton maybe? i still think he has abusive tendencies and certain things frustrate me about him to no end but i think he's realistic and there's a weight to him that's intriguing to me

a character I used to like but now don’t: queen athena. i thought she was pretty as a kid and i liked her whole voice/singing to the kids plot thing but i just think she's so uninspired and lazy and her voice isn't even that good, her design is blah, and i don't think ariel's mom is that lady lol sorry

a character I’m indifferent about: hm. benjamin??? i guess it's fine that they kinda gay-coded him and it's some representation but he's marina's sidekick, and marina is the ultimate ick, and idk he's just so bland anyway that it's hard to feel anything for him outside of what he is

a character who deserved better: andrina! she deserved WAY more lines and screentime. i wish they got the original andrina back but tara did her best, i guess

a ship I’ve never been able to get into: carlotta and grimsby. like i get they're both side characters that are a man and a woman but obligatory hetero ships that have no chemistry aren't my thing (this is directed at the fandom, the movie doesn't really put them together)

a ship I’ve never been able to get over: i think aquata and that boy they put her with in the third movie are cute i guess? again i'm actively trying not to say ariel/eric

a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: melody and that guy she danced with in the beginning of the second movie, but that was the point so

my favourite storyline/moment: hm...uh. um. uhhh OH WAIT i do love ariel singing in that hazy room in the beginning of the second movie. the animation is like rugrats level bad BUT jodi's singing carries it

a storyline that never should have been written: THE THIRD MOVIE. i will go to my grave standing by the fact that i think the banishment of music is the DUMBEST plot i've ever heard of/seen in all of hollywood and the fact that disney is SUCH a difficult company to break into and it's so competitive and it's supposed to hold the highest standards for its craft and THAT plot wasn't ridiculed in its initial pitch in the writer's room and how that plot not only contradicts THE FIRST SCENE we see of ariel missing the concert in her original movie but doesn't even make any sense, given that she gives her voice up to be human so clearly she doesn't care about music THAT much is baffling like the minimum wage character performers in the parks get better training on integrity than the writers from that movie

my first thoughts on the show: i honestly never cared about either movie but i think i disliked the third movie less when i first saw it because tlm2 made melody the main character and that really irritated me as a child because i didn't want to see her and her walrus and penguin, i wanted more ariel who was delegated as a side character bc i guess older women or moms just aren't interesting/worthy of being main characters???

my thoughts now: for as much as i personally dislike the second movie, i'm still glad we have it because i think some of jodi benson's singing is superior to any of her other recordings and i'm genuinely astounded by her talent in some songs. the third movie though is painful and i hate it and it makes me resent disney lol

The Wicked Powers Book 1: Heir To The Lands Forword;

Alright, considering books usually start with a forward, and I am hereby making my own ideal imagined version of TWP, I have decided to start each book with a forword too.

Well, hi everyone. I have been working on drafts for this for like, forever. This is a project I've been really wanting to do for a while now.

I'm one of the Shadowhunter Chronicles OG fans as I picked up the Dutch City Of Bones translation not long after it came out. I've been here before the movie and everything, I even was one of the first admins on the Dutch Shadowhunters wiki and made like, the first few character pages before I quit because of my personal life demanding me to do so.

So I'm making this project with nothing but love for the franchise in my heart.

It's just that there are the occasional things I cannot look away from, precisely because I'm a long-time fan of Cassie and now some of her old fanfic work like the entire Draco trilogy.

Like the fact almost every big, romantic male love interest being clearly inspired by either Draco or Harry and many of their love interests/heroine of the story clearly being inspired by Hermione or Ginny. And I can definitely see the self-insert allegations happening even in her portrayal of Ginny.

Which, on the topic of Dru and the way she got portrayed to be 'mature for her age', etc because she has curves, to be low-key fetishizing and sexualizing a character who was thirteen at the time. The fact Dane even gets killed for it should mean it's fucking wrong but the way her love interests were already set up and set up to be physically older then her is sending alarm bell after the other off- trying to introduce Faerie time shennanigans to twist this into NOT resembling grooming or ending up with shady age gaps is just problematic.

If you have to introduce various twists and turns to make a ship NOT seem icky, then it's a bad ship to begin with. This is why there are people who still don't like Clace because the numerous of twists and turns to not make it seem incest-y (and Jace is technically still her adopted brother thanks to Valentine), just makes for a poor ship.

I'm definitely trying to steer away from that throughout my version of TWP, though for the sake of interesting drama and actually making a good stance on this subject; this will be a topic throughout the entirety of my version of TWP and I will not settle for a solution in chapter one.

As I stated in earlier conception posts, I do want to do foreign cultures justice as whilst Cassandra Clare does know more about cultures then the average American thanks to her childhood, she does has share the American habit of not trying to do cultures she's unfamiliar with justice.

I have tried to ask for help in regards for a Turkish character, but despite making a post and reblogging it like twice in an attempt to get the word out there, I have received zero response so I just had to wing the last name by taking a Turkish last name that's comprised out of two words from a name site. I hope that's fine.

With all of this in mind, I hope you will enjoy my version of TWP!

Star Trek SNW Headcannons

This is some of my Star Trek Strange New Worlds bullshit. Feel free to scroll, followers. Scroll like the wind!

So far Star Trek: SNW has been the most Heterosexual Star Trek in YEARS. Granted, we're just a bit past halfway through the first season. There's been queer shit mentioned-ish. But compared to DISCO, this series has embraced being the gayest straight show since TOS.

I like it. Don't me wrong. The nostalgia is ON FIRE with this show. I'm just eating it up like a turtle and a strawberry. (Om...nom...fucking nom...)

But my thirst to see my queer fam represented (as well as myself) on screen has lead my brain to turn into a neon rainbow cloud of electricity with one mission: gay everyone. Gay as verb, mind you. I want to gay EVERYONE.

Now, I won't. In my headcannons I'm sure they'll be a token straight character, so don't you worry my little allies.

But I need more queer.

Get ready your hate comments, my sweet lampreys, because I'm about to RUIN some stuff.

Pike: I'm about to start ruining right now. Pike is our token hetero. He's a tried and true ally, but he has a thing for powerful feminine energy. He wants to be RULED. (But what about Spock?? You leave Kirk's bitch out of this!)

Una: Bi. Lusting over La'an. Knowing the chain of command, tho, so not wanting to do anything about it. Probably has had a previous romantic life. Perhaps has a child/children.

La'an: Lusting over Una. Follows the damn rules so same as Una. Repressed emotionally enough to have only had unsuccessful flings. Is too intimidating for most, even the butchest among them. Loves women but doesn't need your fucking labels because she's so out of touch with her romantic side that she doesn't even think about it.

Ortegas: Ace/Demi (that's right, AT ME). She is passionate as hell. She is friend. She is queer platonic with Chapel. She is loving some garlic bread and cake. She is tired of your bullshit.

Spock: Pan. I mean, if he's gonna be bi (which he totally is) it would be just as logical to be pan because there are so many expressions of gender and spectrums of anatomical and genetic sexual characteristics...why limit? Fascinating. He also has a crush on everyone all the time. Polyam as well because ¿Por qué no dos?

Chapel: Thinks she needs a man but really she just needs a family. She's in so many queer platonics she has trading cards. She likes sex. If anything she is pan. But she thinks she wants to settle down. Pines for one person while not realizing she actually wants everyone. Also has a kink for aliens. Would never tell anyone she's sweet on Hemmer. But who wouldn't be?

M'Benga: Complicated. His love is focused on his daughter currently. His energy is taken by figuring out how to save her. No time for relationships other than the platonic family ones he's making with the crew or professional specialists he's working with to treat her. He's a sweet cinnamon roll and I hope they give him happiness. I'd want him on my side. Fierce love, that one.

Hemmer: My love! Hemmer! Hello, dear! He's super gay. Has an Andorian low-key partner he connects with daily on another starship (Shran story influence). They joke about how Starfleet tries to spread the aliens out to every ship and that's why they've never been assigned together. They're casual because neither have the emotional resources to dedicate to each other in a committed way. But neither one are too invested in seeking out other partners either. Both have traumatic backstories where they are rejected by their family units. I even have his partner's name. Etnar. Also, Etnar's a botanist.

Uhura: Super into other cultures, she is super pan. Everything is open to her. She wants to know. She has compassion. Her relationships have been strong and passionate. But she is still wandering before settling down. She is focused on what's in front of her, not the future. Crushes? Oh yeah. Like Christine she can't help but find everyone so attractive but also so interesting. She doesn't know if she'll ever feel like she truly belongs but she wants to make the MOST of her time! I just can't wait to see where they take her. And unlike the other characters, I really don't need to see her in a relationship. She is a such a full character already. I just want to see what she accomplishes!

Kirk: You think I'd pass up Sammy? Nah. He's curious. He'll try anything once. He defies labels. He just does things for the sake of doing them. He gets hurt. He gets up. He tries someone else. Ends up in a surprisingly stable relationship. Probably with an androgynous alien without the definitions of sex and gender that we have. They're very happy together.

Okay I don't go to Hawkins anymore but everyone is on the Chrissy/Eddie thing and may I just suggest, for hope, that we don't know if something has been/will be filmed to make amends since even the Duffers said 'oops we had no idea omg'. Like, I could see that. Especially if this is their last season or what not

There’s very much a part of me that would like that to be so… but I’m also not about to get my hopes up.

A lot of things plot wise were dependent on her death, and people’s reactions to it. It’s been compared to the losses of Barb and Bob, but imo it’s more impactful than both of them? Barb’s death served to give Nancy some guilt, and also establish the fact that no one was safe.

Bob… low key, couldn’t stick around. We all know Jopper is endgame, they kind of had to kill him, or they would have been stuck in a similar situation with Steve. Where they have a ship they want to make Endgame, but now here’s this placeholder boyfriend is played by an actor who is way too charming and now we want to incorporate him into the stories more - but that also takes screen time away from other characters.

Now, good story is good story. Good characters are good characters. A good writer needs to be able to adapt and not hold firm to their initial series bible. Like, again. Steve? Totally different from his original conception. Instead of the protector of children and queer ally he is, he was heinous in the original pilot script. The love scene with Nancy was actually going to be dater*pe, and he was going to die by the season’s end. But when they cast Joe Keery, they realized that would be a waste of him… and that with his talents they could make Steve a more likable and well rounded character.

So they changed plans before, because an actor was charismatic and endearing. That much is true. The difference here being while Steve’s death would have been comeuppance for his original characterization… it would be satisfying, but the story didn’t depend on it.

A lot this season’s plot is dependent on Chrissy’s death, and the ramifications it has on the different characters. As I talked about in the meta I posted, it’s true for the era of entertainment the show is a love letter too… but it’s still kinda sorta fridging. I get they wanted to do that First Girl horror trope, because it’s really one 80’s horror element they had yet to homage… but bringing her back after that would be tricky.

Again, it’s a science fiction/sci-fi show. There are ways you could do it, and make it an interesting story. I just don’t know that they would, given how they just have one more season. I would think it would consist more of wrapping up existing story threads rather than introducing new ones, but you never know. I know that elements of Eddie’s story have inspirations in true crime, and that another big inspiration for the show is time travel related. And there’s something with time and the upside down. It’s stuck on the day Will disappeared, a clock appears whenever Chrissy’s killer attacks. I don’t know if time travel will be introduced or undo anything, or alternate timelines - I’ve seen theories that the upside down is a like a timeline where the Cold War resulted in Russia sending nukes into the heartland of Hawkins. That this mutates life and creates things like demobats and dogs, and demogorgons. Mindflayer.

I’ve also seen it pointed out how the man made gateway in S3 needed massive amounts of power, and how Alexiei in season 3 said there were more keys all over the USSR. The Chernobyl disaster is only a few months away in their timeline, and they’ve said there will be a time jump going into season 5. I would think they’d have to address this someway.

TLDR, it’s possible, but I don’t have much any real expectation. I’d love to be wrong, for them to somehow undo Chrissy’s death - and all the other victims, but that gets into a slippery slope of fans wanting them to bring back every beloved dead character. If time travel does play a part, I see it being more of “we have to stop what happened in the upside down from happening in our reality” than I do a method of bringing characters back.

That said, I would absolutely love it if they found a way to bring back Grace (the actress) next season. I think that’s more likely than actually bringing Chrissy back to life. They killed off Billy last season, but brought back Dacre Montgomery for a scene where Max is confronted with a vision of him. The villain Vecna tortures people with their own trauma, so it was Billy for Max - and for Chrissy, it was her abusive mom who gave her an eating disorder. It would make perfect sense to have Chrissy come back if Eddie were to experience the same thing. As a manifestation of his survivor’s guilt, any feelings he may have had for her, etc.

The only thing that I think would preclude that is actor availability, and the fact they now that music can weaken Vecna’s hold on a person… but if Eddie sets Vecna back by jamming on his guitar as seen in the finale trailer? It’s quite possible that he’d hold a grudge and try to target him.

So now you have me thinking maybe we will see Chrissy again in some form, but I don’t think that she will return to life or that she and Eddie will have any sort of happy ending. Sadly. I’d love to be proven wrong. They could just start season 5 and say “she’s alive again! cause reasons! idk Brenner’s lab people took her body to study it and somehow brought her back with science! Forget the snapped limbs and hemorrhaging eyes! She’s all healed up and even more traumatized!”

I’d be fine with that. But I don’t expect it.

However I would like to take this opportunity to pitch to @netflix @strangerthingsnetflix. Give us an Eddie nightmare sequence that starts off with he and Chrissy having a nice romantic moment. We’re confused, this can’t be right - she’s dead. But oh hey they’re kissing now, so we’re not complaining. But then Eddie opens his eyes, and Chrissy is all mangled with the bloody eyes from her death scene. He screams and wakes up we scream and we cry bc Chrissy didn’t wake up.

Ooh. Yes, I would absolutely love that kind of suffering.

I don’t need any sort of credit or royalties, though I’d sign any waiver I’d need to. Y’all making that happen would be thanks enough.

Arceus help me, I tried to put the brain worms back in the jar and the jar exploded.

So I like to let my mind run willy-nilly while cleaning, and I found myself trying to think of how maybe to stretch that thread of hope from before, when the twins make an effort. Like, what would I do in that situation, you know? And I thought, even if I had no desire to accept an apology, I'd still kind of want one?? And that led me to thinking of an scenario.

So maybe a couple weeks later, after the time the boys defend you, they see you again from a short distance. You notice them notice you, and while you understandably don't go running up to them, you also don't go running away, either. You just kind of sigh and slowly wander off - and for a moment they see you. Because of the journal and photos they finally know you're not the monster they first thought, but now that they're looking they can see the exhaustion, the weariness, the sadness, the heavy guard you always keep up. You're not not a monster, no, and maybe you're not the fairytale soulmate they envisioned, but you're still a person, one who was almost broken and somehow came out the other side still alive. Cracked, maybe, and dented, but alive. (And they know there's got to be some kind of fire in you somewhere - they saw it when you went off on them.) What you went through was horrible, what you were made to do was deplorable, but the fact you're still here and still trying to get to steady ground is amazing.

(Low key also saying that for anyone who may resonate with any of this and needs to hear it. ❤)

They write you another letter. (Well. Ingo writes it; Emmet adds in what he wants to say, too, but Ingo is better at words than he is.)

"We owe you an apology. You are under no obligation to accept it, or even respond, but you're owed an apology nonetheless. It's the absolute least we can do after everything."

And for a while there's radio silence. Nothing. Weeks go by, though, and finally they get?? A reply??? It's just like, an index card in an envelope, but it's more than they expected.

"You realize your public image will suffer if you're seen with me, right?"

But then there's a phone number?? And a time and date you'll be free for them to call it?? (It's a number to a public phone, maybe, or a burner, probably not your real one, but still.)

So they call. And against all odds, you answer. You let them talk, probably not saying anything yourself; they apologize, tell you that they read your journal, saw the photos, realize what you've gone through, lament that they jumped to such harsh conclusions. They don't expect anything from you, not even forgiveness, but you deserve to hear that they were wrong.

After they finish, you just kind of sit there silently for a minute.

"...Okayyyy? So you're sorry. Now what? What do you want from me right now?"

They don't have an answer, or at least not one they can find words for that you'll believe. They don't want anything from you, just for you. They'd love to get to know you as a person, not even necessarily as a soulmate, just as a person, though they understand if that ship has sailed. They want you to be able to find happiness like you wrote in your journal, and they accept that, were it ever to be with them, (if that's even possible at all) it will take a very, very long time to get to that point.

there will be no queen in the north arc here for sansa. it was poorly made, just to make all the female characters in the show the same girlboss girlkeep who know better than men. that's not sansa. sansa is lady of winterfell until jon gets a wife and hand of the king, taking a place in the small council of the north as well one of his trusted emboys.

no ramsay bolton arc either here. it was shady and awful how d/d waited until the actress was eighteen to film those scenes and literally steal another book character's storyline just to give it to sansa. after she escapes to the vale and takes on the alynne name and hears her brother jon is lord commander, bryanne finds her and she goes to the north, crossing paths with theon along the way, that tells her that they need to retake winterfell, as her friend jeyne is there, informing her who the "arya" in winterfell is.

sansa tells jon of the knights of the vale as cavalry. no need to create animosity or this sense that sansa doesn't consider him good at being king or commander when that's literally what he is.

sansa speaks up and approves of jon as king in the north.

when the truth of his parentage is revealed, she still claims he is a stark and the lords chose him, if anything, him being lyanna's child would endear them more to him.

she might, however, see this as another opportunity to push cersei off the throne. this is the one scheme she might see, with him being rhaegar's son and howland reed arriving with official papers that prove it.

sansa fixes one of the old castles up in the wall as a home for women in peril, with no husband, pregnant and alone or orphaned.

she might not be too warm about the idea of either aegon or daenerys coming to westeros, but she agrees that as long as the north and what robb gained in battle remains under their control, they can do as they please.

she is a princess now and has her title to use as leverage. despite not wanting to wed, she does use it as a way to get what she wants if they need more armies and lands.

Been watching The Way Home with my sister and mentally lamenting how straight it is the whole time, because why at this stage in life should I have to watch Chyler Leigh have to play a straight woman? And some fucking how when they finally gave us the level of queer content I had been craving I immediately went "for fucks sake."

And it's insane because I was kinda shipping the characters (the mc Kat and her long lost brother's fiance Susanna). Susanna is a boss as bitch and Kat... Kat has heart and is played by Chyler Leigh (I have problems with Kat that most come down to how the writers have her making the same self realisation over and over instead of letting her learn, but anyways). They are driven and they love fiercely, and they play off each other So Fucking Well in a way that is much more deeply interesting than the 2 male love interests Kat has. I mean shit I do still ship them. There is so much juicy stuff to complicate their relationship it's fun trying to think how they'd either resolve it or burn the world down.

It's just the show did it wrong.

It felt inserted.

They got less (sub)textual build up than Korrasami got back when they were dodging censors in America pre marriage equality kids TV. Then the timing was so weird but like there wasn't really a better time than just after they had rescued Kat's brother aka Susanna's fiance and were hiding out in a basement low-key giving their goodbyes because Kat can't take Susanna home with her.

It had this air around it like "oh we're not really gonna be coming back here much after this season so we'll just drop in the fact that Susanna has no interest in men and have them almost kiss because then we'll finally tick that box for main cast queer rep, and oh wouldn't ya know it we're coming up on the end of season 2, sure would be a shame if we didn't get a season 3 to explore this revelation."

Don't get me wrong Chyler Leigh and Watson Rose absolutely have the chemistry for it to have been a powerful scene. It's just the writing wasn't there to back it up.

What is so fucking annoying about it is that this can be construed lowkey as an equality win.

Finally a TV show has reached the point where putting two attractive women who had a common goal on a screen next to each other meant Romance instead of it needing to be two attractive people of opposite genders.

AND We finally have just barely enough media rep for this to read as sucky compared to other options. Yay!
