Rewatched this scene from Disney's Robin Hood and knew what I had to do.
#rarijack#mlp#rarity#applejack#my art#fanart#grand galloping 20s#hey so funny discovery. turns out if i apply the correct colors to a sketch layer it looks really really close to a disney bronze age frame#i realized that the way i sketch is just similar to how lineart on xerox looks in those movies#so this quick sketch accidentally turned into a full frame redraw#keeping that in mind know that i know how easy it is!#really helps sell the immersion that gg20s is supposed to be a 60s-70s disney film series

Tbh at this point you should just make your own webcomic app/website because it would probably be 100 times better than whatever going on with webtoon right now.
hahaha it wouldn't tho, sorry 💀
Here's the fundamental issue with webcomic platforms that a lot of people just don't realize (and why they're so difficult to run successfully):
Storage costs are incredibly expensive, it's why so many sites have limitations on file sizes / page sizes / etc. because all of those images and site info have to be stored somewhere, which costs $$$.
Maintenance costs are expensive and get more so as you grow, you need people who are capable of fixing bugs ASAP and managing the servers and site itself
Financially speaking, webcomics are in a state of high supply, low demand. Loads of artists are willing to create their passion projects, but getting people to read them and pay for them is a whole other issue. Demand is high in the general sense that once people get attached to a webtoon they'll demand more, but many people aren't actually willing to go looking for new stuff to read and depend more on what sites feed them (and what they already like). There are a lot of comics to go around and thus a lot of competition with a limited audience of people willing to actually pay for them.
Trying to build a new platform from the ground up is incredibly difficult and a majority of sites fail within their first year. Not only do you have to convince artists to take a chance on your platform, you have to convince readers to come. Readers won't come if there isn't work on the platform to read, but artists won't come if they don't think the site will be worth it due to low traffic numbers. This is why the artists with large followings who are willing to take chances on the smaller sites are crucial, but that's only if you can convince them to use the site in favor of (or alongside) whatever platform they're using already where the majority of their audience lies. For many creators it's just not worth the time, energy, or risk.
Even if you find short-term success, in the long-term there are always going to be profit margins to maintain. The more users you pull in, the more storage is used by incoming artists, the more you have to spend on storage and server maintenance costs, and that means either taking the risk at crowdfunding (ex. ComicFury) or having to resort to outsider investments (ex. Tapas). Look at SmackJeeves, it used to be a titan in the independent webcomic hosting community, until it folded over to a buyout by NHN and then was pretty much immediately shuttered due to NHN basically turning it into a manwha scanlation site and driving away its entire userbase. And if you don't get bought out and try your hand at crowdfunding, you may just wind up living on a lifeline that could cut out at any moment, like what happened to Inkblazers (fun fact, the death of Inkblazers was what kicked off the cultural shift in Tapas around 2015-16 when all of IB's users migrated over and brought their work with them which was more aimed towards the BL and romancee drama community, rather than the comedy / gag-a-day culture that Tapas had made itself known for... now you deadass can't tell Tapas apart from a lot of scanlation sites because it got bought out by Kakao and kept putting all of its eggs into the isekai/romance drama basket.)
Right now the mindset in which artists and readers are operating is that they're trying way, way too hard to find a "one size fits all" site. Readers want a place where they can find all their favorite webtoons without much effort, artists wants a place where they can post to an audience of thousands, and both sides want a community that will feel tight-knit. But the reality is that you can't really have all three of those things, not on one site. Something always winds up having to be sacrificed - if a site grows big enough, it'll have to start seeking more funding while also cutting costs which will result in features becoming paywall'd, intrusive ads, creators losing their freedom, and/or outsider support which often results in the platform losing its core identity and alienating its tight-knit community.
If I had to describe what I'm talking about in a "pick one" graphic, it would look something like this:
(*note: this is mostly based on my own observations from using all of these sites at some point or another, they're not necessarily entirely accurate to the statistical performance of each site, I can only glean so much from experience and traffic trackers LMAO that said I did ask some comic pals for input and they were very helpful in helping me adjust it with their own takes <3).
The homogenization of the Internet has really whipped people into submission for the "big sites" that offer "everything", but that's never been the Internet, it relies on being multi-faceted and offering different spaces for different purposes. And we're seeing that ideology falter through the enshittification of sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. where users are at odds with the platforms because the platforms are gutting features in an attempt to satisfy shareholders whom without the platforms would not exist. Like, most of us aren't paying money to use social media sites / comic platform sites, so where else are they gonna make the necessary funds to keep these sites running? Selling ad space and locking features behind paywalls.
And this is especially true for a lot of budding sites that don't have the audience to support them via crowdfunding but also don't have the leverage to ask for investments - so unless they get really REALLY lucky in EITHER of those departments, they're gonna be operating at a loss, and even once they do achieve either of those things there are gonna be issues in the site's longevity, whether it be dying from lack of growing crowdfunding support or dying from shareholder meddling.
So what can we do?
We can learn how to take our independence back. We don't have to stop using these big platforms altogether as they do have things to offer in their own way, particularly their large audience sizes and dipping into other demographics that might not be reachable from certain sites - but we gotta learn that no single site is going to satisfy every wish we have and we have to be willing to learn the skills necessary to running our own spaces again. Pick up HTML/CSS, get to know other people who know HTML/CSS if you can't grasp it (it's me, I can't grasp it LOL), be willing to take a chance on those "smaller sites" and don't write them off entirely as spaces that can be beneficial to you just because they don't have large numbers or because they don't offer rewards programs. And if you have a really polished piece of work in your hands, look into agencies and publishing houses that specialize in indie comics / graphic novels, don't settle for the first Originals contract that gets sent your way.
For the last decade corporations have been convincing us that our worth is tied to the eyes we can bring to them. Instead of serving ourselves, we've begun serving the big guys, insisting that it has to be worth something eventually and that it'll "payoff" simply by the virtue of gambler's fallacy. Ask yourself what site is right for you and your work rather than asking yourself if your work is good enough for them. Most of us are broke trying to make it work on these sites anyways, may as well be broke and fulfilled by posting in places that actually suit us and our work if we can. Don't define your success by what sites like Webtoons are enforcing - that definition only benefits them, not you.
#my favorite out of these is comicfury because it gives you the most control out of all of them#and you can offer monetization tools like ads and patreon links#it also offers super easy tools to help build your own site if you're new to that#it's as close to “running your own site” as comic hosting can get#but you can also learn how to run your own site if you want undeniably full control without fear of the platform host shuttering#also look into collectives like SpiderForest!#they basically operate as a co-op where people host their work with them and get ad opportunities#but you have to apply to get in#ama#ask me anything#anon ama#anon ask me anything#webcomic tips

so my thing about vampire media that goes for the addiction metaphor is that the most notable examples (the addiction, being human, midnight mass, etc) are some of the most sympathetic-to-addicts pieces of media I've ever seen. which you might think would be a paradox because, yknow, vampires are bloodsucking monsters, and it's not like that isn't the case in any of those examples, but apparently that isn't really a roadblock. these narratives have basically no problem humanizing their addict-vampire characters even as they lean into monstrosity and kill and eat some guys. it's the kind of thing where on paper it's a Problematic angle for representation but in practice it really works.
#ik mike flanagan was influenced strongly by his experience with alcoholism for mm#and I believe the same is true for abel ferrara and the addiction#so that probably helps for treating addict characters as three dimensional sympathetic people#and I know why I personally gravitate to these kinds of characters but I'm trying to put my finger on why we as a society do that#what is it about the vampire and vampire fiction in comparison to other supernatural creatures that makes it so easy to go 'just like me fr#marina marvels at life#(as a note: I've never heard anyone from the creative team for bhuk say anything about whether they do or dont have experience w addiction)#(also yes. jon archives. same stuff applies. but alas he's not quite a vamped pire.)#vampires

places where the audio distorts
image ids under the cut
tmagp 4:
tmagp 5:
tmagp 7:
tmagp 8:
the audio distorts when people lie.
I imagine this knowledge will come in handy later.
[id: ALICE: This is not something you go poking around in. Not if you want to keep your job… or your neck. SAM: (a little amused) Okay, okay! I get it. Consider me scared straight. "Consider me scared straight" is highlighted. end id]
[id: LENA: Now, while I understand your concerns, you need to understand that Colin has held the IT Manager position for some time without incident, and although he is somewhat… frustrated with his current assignment, he can request help from the central IT team at any time. I am certain that should he find his responsibilities unmanageable, he will request assistance. Or resign, of course. Either way, the problem will resolve itself. "Or resign, of course" is highlighted. end id]
[id: CELIA: Is there any way to look up specific files? ALICE: Like what? CELIA: Oh, I don’t know. Every case about… being buried alive, or meat, or… whatever. ALICE: Well, there’s a search bar, but it doesn’t actually do anything. You’d have to dig through them all manually. (suspicious) – Why do you ask? CELIA: Just figuring it all out. Ah well, I guess I’ll need to find Bigfoot on my own time. "Just figuring it all out" is highlighted. end id]
[id: GERTRUDE: I see. Well, I’m sorry, but I don’t think Gerry can help you – GERRY: (casually) Yeah, I barely remember any of it. "I don’t think Gerry can help you" is highlighted. end id]
[id: GERRY: Oh yeah, but I was pretty young. I remember filling in a bunch of forms and questionnaires, then some old men asking me questions about what books I liked to read, who did I look up to, that kind of thing. And then I left. SAM: (disappointed) That’s all? GERRY: Yeah, afraid so. Other than just sitting around with a bunch of other kids in a room that smelled like old books. "Yeah, afraid so" is highlighted. end id]
[id: CELIA: I’m trying to look into… Weird physics stuff: time travel, other dimensions, teleportation, all that good stuff. Freddy doesn’t really do searches, so you could keep an eye out and let me know if any come up in your cases? SAM: Uh, sounds a bit sci-fi compared to our usuals. What’s this for? (amused breath) You’re not doing research for that podcast you were on, are you? CELIA: (surprised) You know about that? SAM: I might have given you a quick Google. CELIA: Then… yeah. I’m doing a favor for Georgie. "yeah. I’m doing a favor for Georgie" is highlighted. end id]
#tmagp#The Magnus Protocol#tmagp theories#tmagp spoilers#original#most of these are relatively easy to clock as lies regardless#which makes sense. they need to be for us to notice the pattern and apply it later#but it does tell us for sure that Colin can't quit#or maybe he can but he won't be able to work anywhere else like Teddy?#in any case he (and possibly the rest?) can't quit in a meaningful way#if you find any I missed please let me know!!#why is this happening? who knows! Beholding thing maybe?

it’s a lot of posts that are thinly veiled “NEVER SUGGEST BEING TRANS TO ANYONE” and frankly i’m not gonna bother with interacting but it’s pretty funny that most of the time it’s not-trans women yelling at trans women for thinking someone might be a trans woman
#trans#transgender#trans women#little edit for the tags: i focused on trans women because you know that’s me but i don’t think it’s easy for anyone to figure it out#i think that it would be good if we didn’t treat being trans like a stigma#like it would be soooo horrible if someone was interested in being trans#And I think that applies everywhere

【Beyond the sky】Final chapter①
There is a watermark in the image, which may be a little distracting, but please bear with us. High resolution versions will be posted in the portfolio.
It's a very time-consuming series. If you haven't read this series yet, please start from Chapter 1. You can search for it using the tag "Beyond the sky."

To be continued...
I'm not confident in my translation. If you can't read it, just enjoy the pictures.
#outer wilds#comic#Beyond the sky#first page of comic#hatchling#feldspar#riebeck#hornfels#hal#google translate#See the coolest Feldspar in the universe#With screenshots and Google Lens it's easy to read the tags!✌#In fact their spaceship doesn't have a hatch#I had a lot of trouble figuring out what to do with the scene where they come down from the ship lol#I think Feldspar's ship is an early model but probably Nomai's technology was already applied#Because the zero-gravity elevator should have been found at the Timber Hearth mining site

foxboy has been forcibly made ambidextrous due to blueskittles' forgetfulness
all characters are ambidextrous when im writing them (< guy who doesnt know the difference between left and right)
#SEE THE THING IS SOMETIMES THE SWORD LOOKS BETTER ON THE OTHER SIDE COMPOSITIONALLY AND YOU JUST FORGET THAT THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS#and. and then sometimes. you are 100% convinced that what youve drawn is a sword in the left hand. but you are wrong#sigh. i need to stop writing about characters with swords. i cant keep doing this#theres an added layer of hilarity with vulpis (foxboy) in that i originally wanted him to be right handed and then immediately forgot that#after the first panel and started drawing him left handed. so now he's left handed bc he uses his left hand in all but the very first panel#it's way easier for me to keep it consistent with my mc (cottontail) because since the fight scenes are kinda from her pov her back is#usually to the camera. so i can just put the sword on the side that i am actively holding my pen while drawing#and you would THINK it would be easy to just. reverse that. with vulpis. but apparently fucking not#AND FOR SOME REASON THIS ONLY APPLIES TO CERTAIN THINGS?? like cottontail has an asymmetrical character design#with a big spot over the right side of her face. and i have NEVER ONCE fucked up and drawn it on the left. the sword tho? fair game. why#WHATEVER. it's fine im fine this doesn't eat me up inside. i am fine with being perpetually unable to understand simple directions#asks

Batman 'firing' Robin will never sit well with me because having the authority to fire someone implies they applied for a job, and a job includes payment.
So, Batman firing Robin is like saying he's paying Robin for doing his job. Except, is he paying? The simple answer would be no, but then the next logical option is assuming that the payment comes with everything he does for a Robin.
Since Batman provides the equipment he has the right to take it back and that's not the part that bothers me. What bothers me is that there's another crucial thing that Batman does for Robin: provide a home.
And while, yes, Batman's intention isn't to take away the safe space of Robin or to make him believe he's making him leave his house, intentions don't matter in miscommunication.
Firing Robin means not 'paying' him anymore. It means taking away what he's giving him because he isn't doing his job correctly.
For Robin, it means losing his home.
#i don't think I'm making sense#but basically it's a matter of miscommunication and misunderstandings#this is mostly about dick grayson but it can apply to any robin if you want it to#i think this perception of Batman's actions is specially easy to misinterpret for Dick because he wasn't adopted before he was fired#i beg Bruce to learn to communicate better because kids can give a whole new meaning to badly expressed words#Batman trying to protect Robin always backfires because of this#bruce wayne#batman#robin#dick grayson#dc robin#dc comics#dc#this is why dick worked so hard to become independent

I love how much culture is built from your design motifs for Pokémon fusions. I feel like every Diancie fusion live in the same country. It would be a fun challenge to world build with your designs~
Ahh, thank you! Im glad you think so :] When designing fusions I tend to use the body as- well, the body (and sometimes personality), and then the head for the 'aesthetics'. For Diancie heads, that's really leaning into it's royalty theming- be it by leaning into the classic regal pretty princess elements, the cute wedding ones, or even a more armored knight look using it's golden parts. That way, even when they're not necessarily designed to resemble one another they all still look properly like they came from the same 'family'.
Same way I tend to really lean Ho-oh into a very 'elegant' theme, colorful, but something commanding respect too- even stuff like a Carbink body should still look like it has something legendary in there, even if its just a silly baby!
I dont necessarily have lore for most of my fusions, but I always do make an attempt to make them look at least somewhat grounded and connected to both the established Pokémon world and eachother, so I'm super happy to hear they're working in that way.
#ribbon answers#TY AGAIN!! :} ppl sending in asks always makes me very happy#i would like to try different ways of doing fusions someday ((mainly the more 'variants' ones ppl tend to do))#but my main way of designing fusions is Very Much This! I attach a general themeing to the head#and then depending on the body i try to apply that theme in a way that fits#its a fairly easy way of doing it but it is satisfying WWW#also finally home again !!!! so back to drawing. finally#yesterday was a Distaster trying to continue that gouging fire. my electricity went out THREE TIMES#and i ended up having to redraw the same exact parts. THREE TIMES.#so needless to say progress has been slightly slower then i wanted. but im gion at it#wanna do some quick stuff inbetween though. maybe i will od some smaller format pixels again#gotta make sure im keeping up my skill level n whatnot :]
