He F--KS You When You're Stuck pt. 3
pt. 1 Atsushi, Fukuchi, Nikolai | pt. 2 Dazai, Ango, Oda | pt. 3 Kunikida, Sigma, Akutagawa (I can't keep writing this series, parts 4 and 5 cancelled)
Disclaimer: These are works of fiction. The actions in these stories do not reflect real actions taken in the source material. I do not condone the actions some characters may take in these stories. If you are sensitive to potential non-consensual activity, do not read this series.
Contains: fem!reader being stuck/confined, strangers, sex at work, non-con, Rashomon as bondage!!
Tumblr media
Kunikida
He would never participate in something that seems like noncon, even if a partner asked him to so this is a different kind of "stuck"
You're in an elevator with a handsome man you've seen before but never spoken to. With a loud noise and a screech, the elevator stops moving and all but one small emergency light goes out, leaving you in a dim metal box with a hottie.
Kunikida responsibly calls for help, while you focus on not panicking (you fail!)
"I'm sorry that you're in this predicament, but is there something I can do to help?"
"I just need to take my mind off of it," you tell him.
"Okay. Would you like to talk about something?"
"No, no... I need... hey, are you single?"
"Yes..."
"Can we make out? I really need to be focused on something else."
You're appealed to his logic and his need to help people, so he AGREES LMFAO You get to make out with Kunikida in an elevator for what feels like a long time before he finally pulls away and checks his watch. All you can focus on is the broad palm of his hand and his slender fingers. Fuck, you're horny just from making out with him. Every flick of his tongue sent a wave of desire down to your core.
"They should be here by now."
"Maybe there's an issue elsewhere as well," you say, resting your hand on his arm. With a pout of the fluttering of your lashes you ask him to continue, but this time sitting on the floor, and he again agrees.
You manage to climb into his lap. You run your hands through his hair. He holds onto your hips. You grind down on him, and finally he moans softly into your mouth when you manage to brush against his bulge.
He tries to apologize, but you won't let him. You keep grinding on him, kissing on his neck. "I'd really like to keep being distracted," you coo. "Maybe some... rocking back and forth ;) will help the elevator move again."
Tumblr media
Sigma
You're a housekeeper at the casino, and today your one task is doing laundry. It comes down a giant chute into the laundry room, and you spend all day putting sheets and pillowcases in washers, in dryers, and folding them up nicely to be taken to guest rooms.
When the chute backs up, the laundry shoots out FAST and creates a huge pile on the floor. If you're not careful you could get hit by the force of the dropping bedding, and depending on how much is there it could crush you.
Well, unfortunately you were called away to help with another task for an hour, and when you came back and opened the chute it was waaaay more full than you expected and boom, it all flies out. You're hit and knocked over, then tons of sheets, blankets, towels, robes, and pillow cases cover you. All together the weight is enough to keep your tired body stuck in the pile, you can't even use your arms to raise yourself up.
You panic a little, but then you give up, realizing that eventually someone will come in and honestly it's kind of comfortable... like a weighted blanket... soft...
You fall asleep. When you wake up, you feel your pants being shimmied down your legs. You try to call out, but you're sleepy and your voice is muffled. Then you get a sense of what's happening without being able to see the scene: It's Sigma, the casino manager, and he wants to have sex with you.
"What in the world?" you think at first. "This can't be real." But then you remember his ability is information exchanging, and well, hell, if he's the manager you can't get in trouble, so... you try your best to give him the vibe that you consent and he must feel it with his ability because he goes for it.
He doesn't give you much prep before his dick is nudging at your hole. He dips it in a couple of times to tease both of you before he finally sinks in and starts thrusting.
He fills you pretty well. You wish you could see him and it wasn't so stuffy trapped under all these blankets. "Man I wish I could get out of here," you think, and you get the idea transferred back to you that Sigma will help you out once you're done.
Might as well settle in and enjoy it. Hey, no one can hear you moan given all the laundry on top muffling you, so you get to moan and whine and mewl all you'd like while Sigma nearly anonymously fucks you
Tumblr media
Akutagawa
You're an enemy spy from another organization. You were captured by none other than the hellhound of the Port Mafia, and let's just say his interrogation techniques are...different.
Each of your limbs is being held in a different direction by his ability. "Tell me why they sent you. Are you special? Do you know something? Are you dispensable?"
"I don't know, I was just told to be here."
"What a useless answer. You must mean nothing to them. You got caught so easily; I can't imagine you're one of their best. I'm going to give you a new purpose so your meaningless life matters."
And then he lays you down on a crate and uses his ability to anchor you in place, making it completely impossible for you to move. He walks toward you slowly your heart pounds in your chest.
Akutagawa flicks one finger and a part of Rashomon cuts your pants from your crotch down both legs. He pulls the fabric off and wipes the tiniest bit of blood off of your thigh. "Hmm. I didn't intend to cut you. You must have had forced your legs into those tight pants. Doesn't it feel better to wear nothing at all?"
He pulls your panties down too with no comment, even as Rashomon wraps around your thighs and holds them spread so far apart that it makes your hips sore.
Akutagawa unzips his coat but leaves it on as he gets closer to you, running his cold hands across your inner thighs and close to your warm cunt. "If you can bring me pleasure then your life will be worth something."
You realized as soon as Rashomon grabbed you that fighting wasn't going to work, and now your freeze instinct has kicked in and you don't know how to react as his thin fingers spread your pussy and slide into your hole.
"Anyone who can't pleasure a woman is a waste of space," he says, "so I will be pleasuring you in return. If you wan't me to stop at any point you must tell me what you know about your operation and your organization."
"I don't know anything," you insist, but he tsks and curls his fingers inside of you, making you jump slightly as he brushes your gspot.
He fingers you, plays with your clit, makes Rashomon rip your top open so he can see your tits, and eventually (after like half an hour of playing with you) he fucks you.
He tries to talk to you the whole time, asking you questions and trying to get information but as you get more and more worked up you stop even trying to remember information and instead let yourself go with the pleasure. Who knows if the Port Mafia will even let you go home alive, you might as well enjoy yourself first.

Hello! Can I request some headcannons for how Akutagawa, Atsushi, Fyodor, Chuuya and Dazai would react when it rains? Maybe they were going somewhere with the reader when it suddenly rained. (They forgot to bring their umbrellas). Thank you!
Caught in Rain
Characters: Akutagawa, Atsushi, Fyodor, Chuuya, Dazai
Warnings: None, mentions of drinking on Dazai's part if that counts?
Notes: Thanks for the request! I suddenly had a soft spot for Aku while writing his part.😥 It turned out more like scenarios and I couldn't proofread thoroughly,,
Akutagawa
It was after a mission, a long and tiring one that ended with another success on Port Mafia's long list of victories.
He was tired from it all, and using his ability to that extent was something he still had to spend a lot of energy on, in his state, the rain was only another minor inconvenience.
It was you, who offered him your coat as a cover from rain, draping it over his hair and down to his shoulders.
If it were anyone else, he would tell them off and discard the offered coat.. but the worried look on your face when you gently fixed his wet hair..? It was too precious to hurt.
Yet, he still gave back your coat, he would not allow you to get sick for his sake.
He was tired, yes, but using his ability to create a makeshift umbrella wasn't something he couldn't manage. This was the closest thing he could do to 'sharing his coat'.
Inviting you closer, he used his ability to shelter you both from the pouring rain... Seeing his Rashomon be used for something other than killing wasn't a usual occurrence, but your gratitude and curiosity about his ability made him think that maybe... just maybe he could be useful in other ways too..?
Atsushi
It was supposed to be a good day of having a picnic with him, but the forecast had failed you when the sky turned grey right after you two found the perfect spot to settle down by a tree.
One after another, the few drops of rain turned into an unpredicted downpour, even the wind was picking up.
Despite his disappointment, he wasn't someone who would let this get in the way of your planned date, and your happiness.
"Want to make a run for it?"
He asked with his usual sheepish smile, offering his hand to you. There seemed to be a few cafés close by, and it would be a smart idea to move your date indoors.
Grabbing the picnic basket from the now wet ground, you reached to hold his hand as you both started running towards a café in the distance.
He was surprised to hear your chuckles as the rain fell onto your face, despite the cold wind that made him shiver due to his wet clothes, your smile made him feel warm.
Even after getting inside the café, he would keep asking if you're feeling cold or sick.. he doesn't even realize his own nose is being runny...
Fyodor
Everything was going according to plan, an unforgettable day at the opera followed by a nice dinner, this man had everything in order.
That was.. until you two stepped out of the restaurant and were met with droplets of rain. He quickly offered to call a ride and was met with an unexpected response.
"Why not take the chance to have a walk in the rain? It's a beautiful night."
A smile tugged on the corner of his lips, without hesitation, he offered his hand to you.
"Whatever you wish for, Milaya."
Just like that, you two started walking side by side, your arm intertwined in his. As your gaze lingered on the cloudy night sky, his gaze was fixated on your own.
He watched as your droplets of rain fell to your face with an amused look, he saw how the pearly strings dripped down from your hair.
Suddenly putting a stop to your steps, he turned you around to face him, he had removed his ushanka, putting it on your head. He nodded in approval as the sight of you wearing his clothes was getting engraved in his mind. He definitely took a note to let you wear his clothes more often.
Chuuya
Boring.. Paperwork could only be described as boring by Chuuya, he already did all the fieldwork! That should've been enough, yes?
Unfortunately, all his day was spent doing the thing he despised, but now, you were there... asking him to go on a ride together to free your minds from work after a long day.
He couldn't deny any request that came from you, and the weather seemed perfect to go on a ride, maybe a little far away from the city where you can see the stars.
Or.. so you thought, the clear skies soon turned into dark shades of grey, and thundering could be heard from the distance, and here you were, a half an hour ride away from the city.
His already gloomy mood only got more grim as the weather seemed to be making fun of him, and he was also worried about either of you getting sick.
Between his rumbles about his work and the weather.. your hand found his, you were soaked wet, even your hands were cold to touch, but you two were still together, right..?
"We'll be alright, we've been through hell and back together, so don't let the weather get to you now! And, at least we're together, hm?"
Your voice was reassuring and warm, it felt like a beacon of light after a day filled with dread. Pulling you close to his chest, he simply nodded in agreement. His voice conveyed his care for you through selfish words.
"I'm not forgiving you if you get sick."
Dazai
A long day in the agency could only be followed by a night unwinding at a cheap bar, and it had to be cheap, as Dazai said, nothing compared to cheap whiskey!
Your time at the bar was filled with laughter and gossip about your last cases and everyone at the agency, mostly Kunikida.
It was well past midnight when you two finally got a hold of yourselves and decided to head home to get a good sleep after the drinks you had.
Neither of you could've guessed it would rain when it was sunny all day long! So when you two left the bar, you two were met with a surprise.
Before you could offer to call a taxi, you were pulled by a hand on your waist and another that held your hand. Your confusion faded away to amusement as Dazai guided you to a sloppy yet intimate dance.
He was humming a tune you were unfamiliar with, yet soon you caught up with his rhythm and the waltz continued with the rain accompanying you.
He didn't mind his hair sticking to his forehead, he didn't mind your clothes getting soaked and he most definitely didn't mind the risk of slipping up and falling to the muddy ground, to him, this was a perfect moment shared between you two.
And before the dizziness from all the drinks followed by spinning around could kick in, he pulled you close and gave a tender kiss to your lips, followed by the words...
"I love you."

I love the role swap AU's with Bungou stray dogs so this is my idea for one. Though this is pretty much a rewrite.
18 year old Osamu Dazai leaves the Port Mafia after Odasaku was killed. 2 weeks later, Dazai met up with Cheif Taneda who put in a request to the Agency.
Dazai stays underground for 6 months. Because of his past Dazai is put under supervision of Ryuunosuke Akutugawa and his partner Doppo Kunikida.
Neither are particularly pleased about babysitting but do so anyway. They will all grow on each other, very much.
Dazai spends a lot of time in the office lazing about as he's not an official member yet. A sentiment he loves rubbing in Kunikida's face when the latter tells him to make himself useful.
He does end up sorting some files in the cold cases box. The one he picks to read is about a tiger. "A tiger showed up in Yokohama ?"
"Figures you'd find that one. Yeah, it was what 6, maybe 7 years ago. Caused us quite a lot of trouble, and than vanished into thin air."
Akutagawa explains, almost fond. "You think if I find it I'll get the bounty?" Asked Dazai, Akutugawa snorts "If you do, let me know. I'd love to see it."
Dazai's entrance exam is his canon entrance exam though it's with Akutugawa and Kunikida on the case with him.
He passes and is made an official member. It's at his welcome party where Akutugawa gifts him his brown coat. (Akutugawa's wearing his grey one from Beast)
Dazai is still wanted by the Port Mafia though and a bounty is put on his head. Akutugawa senses that's something is up, declining the Agency's weekly dinner to go out.
"Ooo? Does someone have a hot date tonight?" Teases Dazai. Akutugawa rolls his eyes, ruffling his hair "nothing like that you brat. I'll see you later, and atleast try and behave for Kunikida."
"I make no promises" grins Dazai, leaving with everyone else and talking to Gin. Gin's a student and works part time at the Agency like Junichiro.
Akutugawa chuckles at their antics and heads elsewhere. "Didn't think you'd actually show up. Long time no see, traitor." Said Atsushi Nakajima.
The Port Mafia's White Reaper.
He's sat eating something from a lunchbox and Akutugawa mock gags. "Did you really have to bring your lunch with you?" Atsushi smiled and it would've looked innocent if Akutugawa didn't know him.
That, and the blood in his teeth definitely didn't help.
"Didn't know the Agency made you soft. You were never the squeamish type." Atsushi moves his head out the way before Rashomon can stab him, too used to Akutugawa at this point.
Though thankfully Atsushi puts his meal away. His demeanor shifts to a more serious one.
"About the information you asked for, I hate to admit it but you're right. The Boss wants Dazai back for obvious reasons. But he's not the only one searching for him, he didn't put the bounty up."
Akutugawa frowns "who is it?"
"Funnily enough, same people hunting me." Said Atsushi and Akutugawa paused. He hadn't expected the Guild to be after Dazai.
"And before you ask, I don't know why."
"Of course, but you must have a theory."
Atsushi snorts "I thought you were the Detective here?" He hums thoughtful. "They want me for the book, who's to say those reasons are connected? But..."
He shrugs "I can't say what they'd need him for. Other than that his gift must be involved."
Akutagawa nods, as vague as it was it made sense he supposed. "You can ask Kyouka if you'd like, but I'm not getting more involved in this." Said Atsushi, an edge to his tone.
Akutugawa wasn't suprised. The fact Atsushi still met up with him on occasion and was willing to divulge even this much said a lot.
You'd be hard pressed to find anyone in the Port Mafia as loyal as Atsushi. Mori had plucked him out of an Orphanage that was hell on earth and raised him.
Atsushi had practically pledged his soul to the man. His need to save others became replaced with a need to protect his city, something he excelled at from the shadows.
Akutugawa's purpose was to protect, similar to Atsushi's but he had forced himself to fit into darkness. While Atsushi was a light that could only exist in darkness.
Atsushi wasn't an executive but he was invaluable to the Port Mafia, invaluable to Mori.
Akutagawa knows if Atsushi had someone left with him, Mori wouldn't have simply let him go.
If Mori asked Atsushi about these meetings Atsushi would tell him. But otherwise he'd keep this to himself, it spoke of his loyalty to Akutugawa even after the man had left the organisation.
"Of course, I wouldn't want to intrude on your job. How is Kyouka by the way?" Asked Akutugawa, switching to a much safer topic.
Atsushi smiled fondly, a genuine one unlike the one from earlier.
"She's still on desk duty at the office. You'll probably see her around."
Kyouka was also a special case. Her parents were government assassins and had been killed at her home. Their unit had taken Kyouka in and raised her to be their true successor.
Kyouka was a talented assassin and became the governments spy into the Port Mafia. However unbeknownst to them, she'd switched sides.
Akutugawa reckons it was because of her close sibling bond with Atsushi and himself.
But whatever it was, Kyouka came clean to Mori and he offered her to be his eyes and ears. That's what she became.
All the while searching for the answers of who caused the tragedy that lead to her parents deaths that night
When Atsushi said she was at the office, it meant Kyouka was currently with the Special Abilities Division. The two still met up to get tea now and again.
"Oh, and I didn't take this job. It wasn't handed to me." Said Atsushi, Akutugawa looked at him in suprise.
He'd expected Mori to trust only Atsushi with such a task.... Which meant something else was a foot. Perhaps he wanted the Guild to get Dazai first.
"Can I ask who has?"
Atsushi smirked "Nakahara."
Akutagawa was quiet for a few moments before chuckling. "Of course, who else would be sent."
The animosity between those two was something that rivaled Akutugawa and Atsushi in their early years.
Chuuya Nakahara, formerly the King of Sheep was a force to be reckoned with. He'd only been with the Port Mafia for 3 years, same as Dazai and he'd taken the place by storm.
It wasn't any suprise given his gift. And that he'd been mentored by both Kouyou and Atsushi. And from Atsushi's demeanor, Akutugawa knew just how proud he and Kouyou were of him.
If Akutugawa had to guess Mori was trying to make a new Double Black out of Chuuya and Dazai. Which meant something was definitely up.
He'd say good luck getting those two to work together, but the same had been said that about him and Atsushi.
"I guess I better prepare myself for that fight." Said Akutugawa with a grin. Chuuya wouldn't give him shit for leaving, as long as Akutugawa gave him a worthy fight that was.
"You'd better, he's a lot more stronger the last time you sparred." Said Atsushi, getting to his feet. "I best be off, it was good seeing you."
"And you." Akutugawa watched him vanish into the shadows before heading to the restaurant the Agency were seated at.
Dazai grinned, waving him over to a very obviously saved seat. "I thought you'd be back, your date go that bad?" He was teasing him, but there was a hint of concern.
Akutugawa smiled "I told you, not a date. But it went well, and I am starving." Dazai inspected him for a moment before grinning "well, order up Kunikida's paying."
"I did not agree to this!"
Yeah, Akutugawa was going to protect this kid no matter what.

Hiccups (Bungo Stray Dogs)
One Shot
Summary: Akutagawa gets the hiccups. Atsushi helps him get rid of them with tickles. ^^
Word Count: 894
~~~
A tiny noise like a squeak came from the direction of the kitchen, and even though they’d been living together for a few months now, Atsushi’s first thought was – huh, do I have a mouse in here?
Until the second squeak came. Then a third, all evenly spaced out. By the fourth, the weretiger was on his feet and heading to investigate.
The fifth squeak came at the same moment he saw Akutagawa’s body jolt slightly from where he stood leaning against the counter with a glass of water in his hands.
Their eyes met.
“Akutagwa—”
“Shut up.”
A few months ago Atsushi would have been offended. Now he just laughed. “I didn’t even say anything yet!”
“I said shut - *hic* - up.” Akutagawa took a quick sip of water, attempted a deep breath, and was thwarted again. “Everyone gets hiccups. Don’t act like I’m some kind of anomaly.”
“I’m not! It’s just…that’s really cute, actually,” Atsushi replied, moving further into the space despite his partner’s cold glare.
“What have I told you about calling me that?”
“Oh, please. You know you love it.”
Akutagawa put his glass down on the counter so hard the water sloshed, pushing up to his full height – a whole two centimeters taller than Atsushi – and growling, “If you say one teasing word to me right now, Atsushi Nakajima, I will - *hic* - have Rashomon slice you into a thousand pieces.”
Atsushi giggled, wrapping his arms around Aku’s neck, though he knew that his boyfriend was entirely serious given the use of his full name. “I promise I won’t tease you. But I do think it’s cute.” He kissed him before he could protest again, gazing lovingly up at him in such a way that he got to witness Akutagawa visibly falter, any angry retorts dying on his tongue, replaced with another hiccup instead. “Want me to help you get rid of them?”
“You have some kind of cure-all for hiccups? If you’re hoping to - *hic* - scare me, I’m sorry to inform you that won’t work on me.”
“We’ve known each other for years. You think I don’t know I can’t scare you? I’ve tried a million times.”
“Then what - *hic* - do you propose?”
Atsushi cupped Aku’s cheeks with the palms of his hands, brushing his thumbs along his cheekbones, smiling at the way it made the usually serious man melt a little. Then he curled his fingers inward and gently scribbled along his neck.
Akutagawa fell right into the trap.
“Weretiger!” he snapped, lifting his arms to grasp at the empty air where Atsushi’s wrists had just been, leaving his torso open for the real attack aimed at his ribs. He let out a yelp and shot his arms right back down, lips turned upward in a traitorous smile. “No! S-Stohohohop - *hic* - thihihihis at once! I’m wahahaharning - *hic* - you! Weretiger!”
“Seems it’s not working quite yet,” Atsushi said with a smile, quickly moving to stand behind Aku and pull him against his chest, wrapping his arms around him in a tickly death trap that worked every time. He grinned into his boyfriend’s back as he screeched and began flailing in earnest, the giggles he’d been trying to hold back turning into loud, raspy laughter as Atsushi found the bottoms of his ribs and dug in mercilessly.
“Stahahahahahahahap! Ahahahahahatsushi!” Akutagawa clawed desperately at his arms to no avail, twisting and writhing in his grip. Luckily for the weretiger he wasn’t wearing his coat right now, which meant he had to rely on his own strength to get out of this situation.
There wasn’t much to begin with, nor was there practically any left now.
“Dahahahahammit weretiger, cut it ohohohohohout! They’re gohohohone! My hihihihihiccups are gone now stahahahahahap it!”
Atsushi hummed in contentment, smiling as he hugged him closer and tickled even more, leaning forward to plant little tickle bites along his neck and make Akutagawa go absolutely crazy.
“Ahahahahahahaha! Stahahahahahahap!” The older man cried, changing tactics from trying to pull his partner away to slapping his hand against his arm instead. “I gihihihihihihive! Please!”
“Aww, so soon?” Atsushi pouted but stopped anyway, knowing he couldn’t push too far if he wanted to be able to keep getting away with tickling him at all. He kissed the back of Aku’s neck, relishing the shudder that went through him in response. “You good?”
“Shut up,” Aku muttered, turning in Atsushi’s loosened grip so they were facing each other. This way, Atsushi got to see all of him right up close – his blushing face, his bright eyes, the ghosts of dimples in his cheeks. The aftermath of what a little tickle now and then could do for his boyfriend’s spirits.
Atsushi smiled. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
Akutagawa scoffed. “See what I do to you next time you get hiccups.”
“Joke’s on you. I can shift into my weretiger form to get rid of them.”
“Fine. Then I’ll take my revenge now.”
Akutagawa’s eyes suddenly lit up with a different kind of light, and Atsushi had only barely processed it before he was squealing with his own round of giggles as his boyfriend squeezed up and down his sides. He didn’t mind – it was beyond worth it to have a little bit of playful fun with the Port Mafia’s Hellhound.
Tangentially related to the last Beast sskk post, just something that has been going through my mind A LOT in the last period:
There's this tendency I see of characterizing post-Beast sskk as being on very bad terms with each other, keeping on hating each other even after Dazai's death, and I personally can't relate with that interpretation. To me the canon Beast sskk development is, more or less, a warming up to each other speedrun. All the issues they used to have, about being on opposites sides, about having contrasting ethics, were already sorted up in canon, violently and unmercifully, but most importantly thoroughly and definitely. I find it very easy to believe they'd get along post canon, because everything they had to sort out between them, they already did fully.
When I say that Beast sskk is more or less a warming up to each other speedrun, it's also in the perspective of Beast sskk being a general speedrun to what sskk are in the canon timeline: because I do believe sskk's is a progression towards warming up to each other¹, and in a lot of ways it's already visible in canon, through Atsushi helping Akutagawa in the cannibalism arc despite allegedly hating to work with him, through Akutagawa dying so that Atsushi could escape, through Atsushi wearing Rashomon and Akutagawa letting him wear it and everything that entails. The thing is, when it comes to them, Beast sskk have already seen each other bare; they HAVE seen each other at their lowest point already. If there ever was a peak of hate between them, they've already reached it, and that means the tension is only going to plummet from there. There's nothing left for hate anymore, only for understanding and compassion and love.
“More or less” of a speedrun, that is, because honestly? Beast sskk never needed to warm up to each other, because they didn't start from hating, wholly and sincerely, each other like their canon counterparts did. Beast sskk started from a place of common ground, of genuine sympathy and liking for each other. When they started fighting, I think they were both pained from having to fight each other, who shortly beforehand they had found so easy to relate to and most importantly who they felt understood from. If they hated each other at some point - which, everything accounted, is still realistic, especially given the threat they both posed to their little sisters and more generally to their weaknesses and insecurities -, all accounted it was still brief (literally. didn't last more than half a day), and likely easy to leave behind. In the end I just think for Beast sskk it's going to be easy - spontaneous, even -, to go back to the warm acceptance and understanding they shared on their first meeting; because, differently from their canon counterparts, they know that in normal circumstances they get along, and that's something they can't lie about to themselves and pretend it's not true. They can't lie to themselves about hating each other like canon sskk do; so really, Beast sskk is left no other choice than to get along.
As a final note, I think it would also be easier for Beast sskk to get along because Beast Atsushi doesn't feel to be on an higher moral pedestal like his canon counterpart does, so a lot of moral conflict between Atsushi and Akutagawa simply doesn't happen in Beast.
¹ In a way that, for comparison, skk aren't, who remained more or less frozen on the stance of “hating you (that is also loving you)”. Regarding that, I agree with the interpretation of canon some people offered that the manga is the story of sskk's progression, while skk's relationship is already fully developed.
love me till my lips turn blue
(ao3)
Other than the occasional coughing fit, Ryuu doesn’t make any noise in his sleep — he stays completely and utterly still.
It was odd and at first a bit off-putting, but thankfully Atsushi’s grown used to it over time. In fact, he would go so far as to say he’s felt grateful for it; it’s easy to tell when something is out of the ordinary.
Now is one of those times, because it tells Atsushi that Ryuu is awake. More than that, he’s thinking about something, which means Atsushi should wait for Ryuu to speak up instead of falling back asleep.
“Atsushi,” Ryuu eventually whispers. “Are you…”
When Ryuu trails off, Atsushi takes a brief moment to gather himself before he slowly sits up and turns to his side, resting his body weight on his elbow. “Awake?” he offers. Then he smiles. “I might be.”
Ryuu doesn’t startle at the suddenness of Atsushi’s response, but his eyes do widen a fraction. “Oh.”
“Oh,” Atsushi echoes. Then he raises an eyebrow and asks, “Did you want me to be? I can pretend to. Or you can have Rashomon knock me out — I won’t fight it.”
Ryuu squints at him, clearly unimpressed, before he sighs. “You don’t need to pretend,” he snaps, irritated, but his heart isn’t in it. “And Rashomon won’t hurt you anymore, you know that.”
He rolls his eyes. “And you know that the same thing goes for Byakko. It’s a moot point.” Then he gives a sigh of his own. “What’s wrong, Ryuu?”
Ryuu blinks rapidly. “What makes you think something’s wrong?”
Atsushi shrugs. “You make a certain face when something’s troubling you.”
“No I don’t,” Ryuu counters.
“Yes you do.”
“No I don’t.”
“Yes you — you know what? Never mind. I’ll take it back if you tell me what’s wrong.”
“Nothing is wrong, Atsushi,” Ryuu says quietly. “I just…”
Atsushi waits a moment, but it’s clear Ryuu doesn’t plan to continue. Atsushi holds his gaze and prompts, “You just…”
Ryuu swallows. “I just wanted to tell you that I love you, I suppose.”
Atsushi feels his mouth open a bit and his eyes widen a bit. He can feel the moisture suddenly building behind them and his heart feels so full he’s afraid that it might burst out of his chest completely, because it isn’t often that Ryuu says those three words.
That isn’t to say that he feels Ryuu’s love any less, or that he feels like something’s missing. After all, Ryuu shows it all the time in subtle yet obvious ways, and that’s enough for Atsushi.
He shows it by refraining from asking Atsushi about his nightmares after Atsushi tells him that he doesn’t want to talk about them. He just holds Atsushi and stays silent.
He shows it by allowing Atsushi to help him through a coughing fit despite Gin telling him he hates being touched during them. He even goes so far as to let Atsushi help clean him up after the worst ones.
He shows it by insisting that he be the one to sleep closest to the door. (Atsushi is content to let him think that being closer to the door will change the fact that the moment any danger presents itself, Atsushi will be blocking Ryuu from sight before Rashomon can so much as begin to move.)
Which is what makes it ironic that whenever Ryuu does say it, Atsushi tends not to say it back. Not that he doesn’t want to, because he wants to more than anything, but he doesn’t because that’s not what Ryuu wants.
Ryuu doesn’t want him to because even if he doesn’t understand why Atsushi loves him, he doesn’t doubt that he does — after all, Atsushi says it all the time. What he does doubt is that Atsushi knows about his love.
So instead all Atsushi does lean forward, tuck a stray strand of hair behind Ryuu’s ear, and whisper, “I know.”
Because he does, and the smile Ryuu sends him in response tells Atsushi that he believes him.
YOU FOOL
Tumblr media
pairings: akutagawa/atsushi (sskk)
synopsis: morning after chapter 110 where aya saves everyone without suicide and they all survive thank you i know it's canon.
note — this came to me while i was vaping for breakfast at seven in the morning, i’m gonna be using some lines from an incoming (devil knows when) sskk art and my poetry entry in uni bc it has been about sskk from the start anyway so. cr. for divider here. might cross-post on ao3 idk yet.
cw: implied smut ig but like implied implied idk man no in and out is actually described???
Tumblr media
there’s warmth trapped inside atsushi. he can feel its movement like a burly beast. that's how he deranges the order of reality. what’s beneath above and beside ruined through one breath. his breath. it's like a new sound is invented. and akutagawa listens in a trance and what's left outside after contact is insensible, not a single thing as urgent as holding him, ingesting every single particle—every matter that brings itself to his fingers. collecting themselves under it like dusts of light.
atsushi, and his parted mouth. atsushi, and his sweat-streaked neck. atsushi, and his heated skin. Atsushi, and his eyes that tell him that he doesn’t need him to be good—to live good, despite growing a kindness in his sickly heart that no one else could create.
Atsushi who’s a promise, in himself, that dreams will always fall short of these moments.
And these moments, that soften and soften as their movements slow, nose against cheek, palm against chest. lips easing the ache in the other.
they hold each other, close their eyes holding each other. they never said ‘i love you.’ but really, after everything else—did they really need to?
then sunrise comes.
you. you. you.
this falls in and out, in waves, in melodies, in a small tremor between his shut lips.
while lines, forms, silhouettes gather in the small slit of his fluttering eyes—the violet-grey grains discoloring the walls, the misshapen sheets. then more nuanced senses awaken, there is atsushi’s chest, rising with warm breaths that crack open more of the indulgent fatigue hugging his body.
akutagawa’s thinking looses its restraints, he could say just about anything, right now. he could mean just about anything he says right now. and that's not what he’d always like, if he’s honest, but he's unlearning the resistance to tender things. tender, in the way that soothes. tender, in the way that bruises.
“jinko,” he breathes into the nape of atsushi's neck. one, two times, “jinko, it's morning.”
atsushi stirs, feeling akutagawa’s chin lodging between hus collarbone, “mm, what, already? wait, what day is it today?”
akutagawa sighs.
“even my boss cancelled all operations for at least a week, so you can shut up about work for longer than that.”
“well, thank you for kindly sharing with the class akutagawa—”
“you just saved the world, you just saved me. rest, jinko,” he interrupts, pulling back to tug on atsushi's shoulder as he complies, rolling over to face akutagawa, “and one more snarky remark and i’ll shut you up myself”
heat rushes to atsushi's face, and akutagawa realizes what it could mean. the weretiger is more expressive than he thinks he is.
“with rashomon, i mean, i’ll shut you up with rashomon.”
atsushi glances away with a small laugh.
“honestly, rashomon did a lot worse to me, so that's pretty mild but okay—” he glances back at akutagawa, saying in a teasing tone, “— i did just save you.”
he grumbles, “don’t push it, jinko.”
“but i love it when y—i mean, it's kinda funny, you know?”
“that i’m annoyed?”
“you don't look that annoyed, akutagawa, even when you say you are,” that's not actually funny exactly, it's more of. . .endearing. but atsushi can't say that just yet.
“just be quiet,” akutagawa averts his eyes, before looking into atsushi’s, before wrapping an arm around the weretiger’s waist as his cheek plants a soft kiss on and stays on atsushi’s bare chest, “let’s rest together, i’m tired.”
then he's there, dismantled on him, the weretiger’s heartbeat filling his ears in rivulets. he hasn't forgotten how cruel this borrow life can get, but he understands strength better.
because he knows, no matter how hard this gets, when he looks up at the corner of the room, when he drinks in atsushi’s sunlight-illuminated frame and he calls his name—he can endure it all. this is how he can endure it all.
“i resent you,” he mumbles, deep in thought and tucking himself into atsushi.
atsushi’s irises drift up to the upper corner of his lids, brows raised and mouth open almost in a small smile—akutagawa always knew how to start a sentence right. right and gently. “i see, is that the end of your sentence or. . .?”
it hits the mafia’s rabid dog a little too late, “god, you’ll never hear me say that again.”
“before, i mean. but i hoped too, that if i would die, it would be by your hand. by your side. now, i stupidly hope to live the same way.”
i don’t know what you’ve done to me, akutagawa wants to say but he doesn't.
i don’t know if i deserve to give you that reason, atsushi wants to say but he doesn't.
“still calling me that, you fool?”
“yeah, yeah,” atsushi inhales his laughter in, finger ghosting his under-eye, “didn't really even try to hope that i will, you damn lawnmower.”
“if i’m the fool, let me do the foolish things—don’t ever leave me again.”
you. akutagawa head cannons
YOU. HERE WE GO.
he's really ticklish (and later tonite i might post a little thing related to that)
he actually really loves animals. they hold no malice. he had bad experiences with dogs back in the slums but he doesn't hate hate them, just prefers to have nothing to do with them
he braids gin's hair
akutagawa has ocd. i KNOW he does
he honestly likes his lack of eyebrows. adds to his victorian gothic look
akutagawa has a lot of moles, especially on his face
he broke his nose SO many times that it became a running joke between him and gin
i hc that akutagawa looks a lot like his mother but does not recall her face anymore
he bites his nails
he just has the tendency to avoid sleeping as much as he can and that results into him passing out of exhaustion in the most inconvenient situations
akutagawa really likes flowers. he secretly wishes he had the time to cultivate his own botanic garden
gin found out that their brother can sing because he was absolutely DEVOURING the only exception by paramore while doing the laundry. akutagawa denied his ability to sing when gin pointed that out and keeps refusing to aknowledge his secret talent.
likes classical music as well as alternative music
it was gin and chuuya that got him into nu metal/goth/emo rock music
prefers goth out of the genres i just listed
avid the cure fan
akutagawa would rather die again than get a driver's license. it's either higuchi drives him where he needs to be or he's gonna walk to the other side of the world but that man is NOT getting behind the wheel
he's lactose intolerant but chooses to ignore said intolerance and actively drinks milk in spite of it. don't ask about how bad his tummyaches are
used rashomon as a binder before getting top surgery
has a nice collection of earrings but wears them only when he's off duty or if there's some fancy event at work
knows english and a good bit of spanish
both are self-taught. he learned english because it is useful for mafia affairs that involve other countires and spanish bc he thinks it sounds really cool
akutagawa is CLINGY behind closed doors.
and i mean CLINGY clingy. he holds onto gin's sleeve as if they were still in the slums while in the security of their home. atsushi has to get up to get ready for work? too bad! akutagawa refuses to let go of him and WILL cling onto him even more firmly because he just needs to feel his loved ones close okay.
he's chuuya's therapist and chuuya is his. none of them are all that suited for the job but at least they support each other's bad decisions
this said my dear i am going to sleep! goodnight and dream of akutagawa bsd
Heaven Forbid.
Heaven forbid Atsushi finds Akutagawa in an alleyway, nearly unconscious from blood loss. Heaven forbid he confesses what he has felt for such a long time. Heaven forbid Akutagawa painfully reciprocates the feeling.
(my first BSD fanfic!!! tragic SSKK forever)
Akutagawa clutched at his wound, his breath coming in quick, shallow gasps. He props himself up against the brick wall.
Fuck, he thought, his head tilting back. He closed his eyes tightly, feeling warmth pool around his fingers. He knew what it was. He didn’t know why the blood refused to stop gushing out of his wound, no matter how much pressure he applied. Sure, he was only using a hand, but normally that was enough to stop majority of the bleeding.
Most of all, though, he wasn’t sure how this had happened.
Damn, why did his head hurt so bad?
He was beginning to feel dizzy. The sounds from the street were drowned out, sounding far away, and much quieter than normal. Perhaps he was dreaming. Perhaps he had ended up underwater somehow.
Akutagawa’s hands begin to shake. Or had they already been shaking? He didn’t know anymore. He covers his mouth, coughing hard. Shit, he thought, instantly covering his wound again. He felt so helpless, so utterly helpless, as his blood painted the dirty ground beside him.
I deserve to be here, he thought in anguish, nausea hitting him in waves. Dying in an alley is all I’m good for. How useless can I be, completely unable to stop a simple wound, one in which I don’t remember getting? How weak could I possibly be?
When he coughs again, blood dribbles down his chin. He weakly reaches up to wipe it away with his free hand.
Remember, he ordered himself. He faintly recalled pursuing an enemy of the Port Mafia. He was alone, as this unnamed enemy was deemed a low threat.
His memories were fuzzy; it was hard to remember much more.
Defeated by a low threat. Utterly pathetic.
A voice broke through the haze. Akutagawa tried to ignore it, but it only got louder, as if coming closer. He turned his head toward the sound, slowly opening his eyes.
“Akutagawa!” the voice shouted, laced with worry and panic.
Even through his dazed state, Akutagawa recognized the unmistakable voice of the weretiger. Disgust coiled in his gut. Of course, the last person on Earth he wanted to see at this moment.
“Akutagawa,” Atsushi pants, dropping down to his knees beside Akutagawa. “Akutagawa,” he repeats, his voice softening.
“What are you doing here?” He had intended for his words to bite, but Akutagawa’s voice was instead weak when he spoke.
“What happened to you? Who did this to you?” Atsushi demanded, his tone irritatingly gentle. Akutagawa groaned as he felt something thick cover his hand. He looked down to see Atsushi pressing his coat firmly to his wound.
“I don’t need your help,” Akutagawa rasped, embarrassed to be seen in such a state.
“Please, Akutagawa. Don’t push me away. Please, let me help you,” Atsushi pleaded, his eyes wide.
Akutagawa used rashomon to grip Atsushi’s wrists. He tossed him to the side, letting the coat fall to the ground. Atsushi, without a word, got back up. He continued to apply pressure to the wound. This time, Akutagawa let him.
Atsushi didn’t inquire any further. How irritatingly polite he was. Atsushi, who had tried to kill Akutagawa as many times as Akutagawa had tried to kill him, was now tending to Akutagawa’s wounds. It was painfully ironic. Akutagawa wondered where this tenderness had come from. Despite himself, he felt some of his anger ebb.
“I don’t know,” Akutagawa whispered after a while. Atsushi looked up in alarm, not having expected him to speak. “I can’t remember. I was.. following someone.. and then I ended up here.” He gritted his teeth, hating to seem so vulnerable. How useless. Utterly useless.
It was a while before Atsushi replied. “It’s okay.”
“..What?”
“It’s okay. That you got hurt. I mean— I’m not saying it’s good that it happened, but—“ he hesitates. “It’s okay, Akutagawa. You aren’t a failure.”
“What—“
“I can see it in your eyes. You blame yourself. But it’s okay. You don’t have to win all the time, Akutagawa. Losing every once in a while does not make you weak. You are one of the strongest people I have ever met, in more ways than one.”
“Stop. Dont—“
“Please listen to me.”
“..Okay.”
Atsushi put a gentle hand on Akutagawa’s shoulder. He didn’t react when Akutagawa flinched away. “Everyone gets hurt once in a while. It’s part of being human. That doesn’t make you lesser than anyone else. You are good. It is okay.” It seemed he was reciting something, as if these were words he had heard from someone else and was now passing to Akutagawa.
Akutagawa didn’t realize he had begun to cry until Atsushi reached over and wiped away his tears with a thumb. Then he pressed the back of his palm to his forehead. “You’re warm,” he murmured. “You could’ve been drugged. We need to get you somewhere safe.”
“Why?” Akutagawa whispered.
“Why? Well, sitting in an alley isn’t the most sanitary thing, for one—“
“No,” he rasped. “Why? Why are you here, how did you find me, how… Why are you helping me?”
Atsushi just stared. For a long, long time, he just stared.
“Because I don’t hate you,” Atsushi whispered after what seemed like forever.
“You should,” Akutagawa muttered back. “You should. I hate you, weretiger. Reciprocate that. Please. Just— reciprocate that.”
This.. this tenderness, this care he was receiving from Atsushi… it wasn’t right. It was something he had never received before, not really. If anyone at all, though, why Atsushi? His proclaimed enemy? How long had they hated each other?
“I.. I can’t do that,” Atsushi whispered back. “I really can’t.”
Akutagawa demanded in a hushed tone, “Why? Why can’t you? This one thing I ask of you, I ask you to hate me—“
“Because. Because I love you, Akutagawa,” Atsushi confessed. His gaze immediately dropped to the ground. He was.. ashamed. Visibly ashamed of his affection for Akutagawa. Why did that make Akutagawa’s heart drop?
“No.”
“I’m so sorry. I know I shouldn’t. I know—“
He’s caught off by a finger hooking beneath his chin. He is forced to look Akutagawa in the eyes.
Tears spill from Akutagawa’s eyes as he closes them, leaning forward. His lips brush Atsushi’s. So unnaturally gentle. So, so sickeningly gentle.
They pull away after a moment. Neither of them say anything. Atsushi ties the coat around Akutagawa’s waist, satisfied that the blood had stopped, but not removing the pressure from the wound.
“It hurts,” Akutagawa whispers, his voice trembling. Atsushi knew that he meant more than just the gash in his side.
“I know. I know it does. It does for me, too.”
“It’s not right.”
“Isn’t it? How can it not be, when it feels so right?” Atsushi met Akutagawa’s pained gaze, searching for something within his gray eyes.
Akutagawa is quiet for a long moment.
“I wish you weren’t.. you,” he whispers finally, his voice nothing more than a wisp of air.
He watches as tears of Atsushi’s own spill over his cheeks, mixing with the dark red of blood on his hands. He watches as Atsushi smiles wryly, shaking his head. He watches as the boy he tries so desperately to hate begins to tremble.
“I wish you were a girl,” he continues, despite Atsushi’s worsening state. “I wish we were two different people. I wish I could kill you and feel nothing.” His voice breaks as he speaks. “But that is not the case. Heaven forbid we be so lucky.”
Atsushi nodded weakly, his shoulders shaking as he cried. “Heaven forbid,” he agrees. His pain is clear in his eyes. Akutagawa wished he hadn’t come at all. Maybe it’d be better, easier, if he’d left me to die.
“Come on. Let’s get you some help,” Atsushi whispers with a sniffle, hooking an arm beneath Akutagawa’s legs and another just behind his head. He stands, swaying, slowly carrying Akutagawa out of the alley. “Let’s get you help.”
As he’s carried away, Akutagawa felt nothing. No hatred, no happiness.
“Heaven forbid I die in your arms.”
So I finally got my hands on the Beast movie. (review/analysis)
As a movie: ...wow. That was bad. That was ....Flash Gordon (the 1980s one, soundtrack by Queen, that one) levels of “seriously, you need a BUDGET to do this story, why didn’t you get one?”
As a BSD AU, though, there was some interesting stuff here.
Let me get the ‘movie itself’ bit out of the way first, though.
For anyone going “But I wanna see! I wanna see!” - I feel you. I do. I’d been scrabbling for months trying to get my hands on this movie, to see what it showed. And so I feel I really should tell you....WOW THIS MOVIE NEEDED AT LEAST FIVE TIMES THE BUDGET IT APPARENTLY GOT, okay. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen better SFX on movies from the 1980s. In fact, I know I have; that’s why the comparison to Flash Gordon came to mind, because it’s the only 80s movie I can think of offhand where the SFX are comparable-to-slightly-worse than this.
Akutagawa is definitely the central figure of the movie. They did not have anywhere near the budget to do Rashomon justice. The utter failure to do Rashomon any kind of justice actually makes the acting worse. Have you ever seen the 1960s Batman? Adam West? (If you haven’t, go look it up, I’ll wait.)
Bluntly, the fight scenes - and you know, there’s a lot of those - look like 1960s Batman fight scenes. Just without the ‘pow’ and ‘biff’ animations. It’s just about impossible to take it seriously. Even Oda’s fight scenes, which should have looked utterly Matrix-esque, came off this way. And if you’re thinking ‘yeah but the Matrix needed a budget’ - agreed. I will therefore add that even Kenji’s fights were 60s-Batman levels of cartoonish.
They didn’t even manage to make Dazai’s swan dive off the tower look realistic. I half-thought, the way they did that shot, that Dazai was going to swoop off into the clouds like a goth mummy Superman.
As for the costuming....I’ve seen better at conventions among the cosplayers, not gonna lie. I’ve seen better wigs on cosplayers, I’ve seen better costumes on cosplayers.
I’m sure the actors did their best with what they had, and sometimes - sometimes, despite all this, they managed to pull off a scene well. There are moments here and there where I forgot for a few seconds that I was watching a fansubbed movie that looked like a fan production. But I couldn’t fall into the movie on its own merits. I just couldn’t. I wanted to so much, and it just wasn’t going to happen.
Okay. Now that I’ve lowered your expectations to a more realistic level regarding “wanna see!”, let’s move on to the content.
I would like to begin by saying this movie expects that anyone who is sitting down to watch it has
1) Read the manga, 2) Read the light novels, 3) Also read the Beast manga, and 4) Watched the anime.
It harks back to all of these at different times, and also alludes to things in the manga(s) that it does not go into depth on because it assumes you already know all that shit. And then it goes in its own direction, all the while kind of winking at the audience like “hey, I bet you were expecting a straight adaptation, but GUESS WHAT” Sometimes, this leads to honestly bizarre choices. Like using the quite gentle-sounding ending-credits music from the anime during a big fight scene between Akutagawa and Atsushi.  Other times it’s more puzzling...like nearly every appearance of Fyodor.
I will say that watching the movie cast certain parts of the manga in a new light for me; namely, some of Dazai’s motivations. It honestly felt to me, watching this, like B!Dazai used what he changed to try and actually ...wake Akutagawa up? Make Aku realize just what he’s been doing wrong all this time? Because in this version, he really was going to kill Gin...and you’d think that would be a terrible thing, but it actually comes off as kind of a mercy to her. A way to spare her from feeling responsible for her brother’s choices, since he’d happily kill the whole world to ‘get her back’. And it made me think of why B!Dazai kept Gin as a secretary, instead of recruiting her - we know she’s actually quite a capable member of the Black Lizards, main timeline. I think Dazai kept her a secretary because he needed her to be...well, pure. Pure enough at heart that she could see her brother being an out of control rabid dog and recognize it for what it was, and call him out on it. Because nobody else could get through to Aku. Everyone tried, but no one got through. It was Gin basically telling him he’s a soulless monster born to do evil that shook Aku up enough to start really questioning himself. And Gin did that because of how Dazai had treated her up to that point, meaning Dazai basically turned Gin into the key to cluebat Aku into growing the fuck up.
I was ...also less inclined to blame Dazai for how Atsushi turned out. Atsushi is just...broken, regardless of what universe he’s in, and in the Mafia you don’t get healed from that, you just learn to deal with it.Dazai’s order not to return to the orphanage likely had a lot to do with Mori being in there somewhere, and a desire to keep Atsushi from getting even more broken by the old headmaster. He seems to be as gentle with Atsushi as the situation allows.
Ah, but y’wanted to know what’s different.
Well, first, Fyodor is in this motherfucker. When Oda goes into a top secret facility to get the recording of Dazai so Aku can hear the Man In Black’s voice, Oda runs right into a cello-playing Fyodor. Who gives him the recording. And incidentally poisons Oda with a contact poison on the disc’s case. Why? Who the fuck knows. Fyodor and nobody else, that’s who. (Oda seems to just get better from the poison.)
Second, there’s a coda after the credits. In it, Atsushi is summoned to a supermax prison cell, where a straight up deranged Chuuya is being held by the government. Despite, y’know, being in a government supermax prison, Chuuya declares himself Boss of the Mafia. In this capacity he’s called Atsushi to attend him, and when Atsushi says he’s out, Chuuya says Kyouka’s already returned to the fold, oh and btw go kill the ADA.
Chuuya is deranged, it turns out, because he’s spent seven years plotting to kill Dazai, and then the fucker up and offs himself one day for shits and giggles (as Chuuya sees it). He can’t kill Dazai now, so he’ll go after the ADA, which attacked the Mafia and the attack resulted in the death of a Boss, therefore the mafia is honor-bound to avenge said Boss. (This is actually reasonable, since while Dazai does kill himself, the only witnesses are the ADA and Atsushi, who can be argued to be a traitor to the mafia. And the ADA really did storm the mafia base and kill a lot of people and it’s ...actually pretty reasonable for Chuuya to demand the mafia retaliate. That IS how such orgs work.)
For this movie, I have to say, a double-black shipper would need glasses so heavily rose-tinted you can’t tell the difference between blood and water to see any kind of shipness here. Chuuya haaaaaaaaates Dazai. And Dazai seems to regard tormenting Chuuya as a kind of stress ball.
Fyodor, meanwhile, is sending assassins after Aku and Atsushi with a timeline of ‘two weeks’, after which apparently the world will destabilize. (Because three people know about the Book; those two and him.) He says he’s fine being the ‘only one who knows the truth’. He then eyeballs the camera with basically a ‘come see part 2 when it comes out’.
Gods, I really hope if they DO a part 2 they get a godsdamned SFX budget.
The main takeaway that I feel is relevant here, is that the movie pretty much underlines that the Book’s reality-rewriting power is decidedly limited. Which I do hope will be relevant very soon in the manga.
Just like everyone else, LOVE your charts
Could you do one with reader fighting someone and getting hurt?
NOW WITH THE HUNTING DOGS! There are 21 hot men on this chart. Trying out a new format too to make it easier on me when writing (:
also I've noticed there isn't an agreed upon way to spell tetcho's name. i'm rocking with tetcho. you can't stop me. i've already done it. and i'll do it again. tetcho.
Tumblr media
after you get hurt he loses his mind killing the person who hurt you. he would then tell you "i can't see you get hurt like that. i had to do something to protect you." he may or may not be ashamed of what he's done; more than that, though, he's happy you're alive.
Fukuchi (uses the full extent of his powers and then tearfully confesses to you when you're safe), Bram (summons hoards of vampires even though he swore he wouldn't; he loves you and would do anything for you), Junichiro (is usually so passive but will kill someone with his bare hands when his lover is attacked right in front of him), and Poe (never uses weapons because he has his sharp mind; he doesn't think twice before shooting down the man who hurt you).
when he sees you get hurt during a fight, his first thought is "fuck, i have to save them. i can't lose them, not here, not now." you try to tell him to leave you and complete the mission, but he refuses, maybe even tearfully. you're coming home with him. you're not dying here.
Atsushi (tearfully holds you against his chest the whole way to Yosano, who's the only one he trusts to save you), Oda (struggles to balance the importance of the mission with his need to keep you safe; fuck the mission, you're his priority), Nikolai (decides in an instant to use his ability to take you far, far away from this conflict; it's not worth it anymore, not without you), Fukuzawa (abandons his sword to catch you before you hit the ground. He never should have let you pick up this fight; he should have solved this all before it could happen. He'll ask for your forgiveness, just as soon as he saves you), Mori (uses others to fight his battles. His goal is always to protect himself and his loved ones above all else. The full force of the Port Mafia comes down on anyone who defies him, but he himself holds you gently while transferring you to safety), Dazai (isn't in the Port Mafia anymore. When he was a younger man he'd have killed everyone in the room, but now that he has someone he's afraid to lose he chooses to run), Ango (refuses to think you're dead; he knows you're too tough, too skilled to not make it out of this battle. He's still scared, though, and as soon as he reaches you he tells you he refuses to lose you like this so you better get up and start running).
you getting hurt and falling during conflict was the last thing he expected. you're so tough, why would you be so fucking stupid? he intends on asking you right after he takes care of the asshole who thought he could take you away from him.
Tetcho (cooly walks over to you after destroying the remaining enemies. "Are you going to lay there all day?" he asks. "Do better next time... and don't you dare scare me like that again."), Tachihara (goes into a rage. He eliminates the threat, then pulls you into his arms. "You fucking idiot... Don't do that again or I'll kill you myself."), Akutagawa (awakens a new, even more lethal version of Rashomon when you fall. The room is cleared in an instant, and he's carrying you to safety moments later. "I expected more from you," he says despite the wobble in his voice. "So live and prove me wrong."), Jouno (loses his interest in the fight when he hears your heartbeat slowing, so he ends it all quickly and finds you by your shallow breathing. "You're a pathetic excuse for a Hunting Dog," he says, scooping you into his arms. "Let's get you ready for the next fight."), Fyodor (chooses his close companions extremely carefully. It's an affront to God to hurt his comrades--everyone who dared harm you will know that wrath now, and later you'll learn Fyodor's wrath for daring to leave him through near-death).
seeing you fall pissed him off more than anything. you shouldn't have come but you wouldn't take no for an answer. now he's gonna save your ass and give you a piece of his mind (he's so relieved you're safe. you know that's what he means when you tells you not to be so fucking stupid next time).
Chuuya (knows that he could use the full extent of his power to destroy everyone here, but who would save him so that he could be with you again? Ugh, you moron. How dare you make him run instead of fight. Good thing you're worth it to him), Ranpo (isn't a fighter, he's a thinker, and right now he thinks you need to be taken to safety because you were too stupid to stay out of harm's way), Sigma (has a split-second dilemma in which he wants to kill everyone, but moreso he wants to protect you, so he covers you, gets an ally to take you to safety, and when you wake up he's at your bedside calling you an idiot), Mushitaro (finds a way to twist his ability to make you two invisible to the enemy; you get to safety, you wake up after being knocked out, and he's standing over you, arms crossed. "It's about time you woke up, dumbass. I'm over here doing all the hard work."), Kunikida (panics when you fall. This isn't according to plan, and now he's enacting plan B: save your dumb ass, and then go back into the fight alone. When he realizes the extent of your injuries, though, he stays with you).
What kind of ability would Higuchi have and its potential name?
Hi to whoever is reading this! This is my first self-written post so I’m still figuring out how all this works and I’m sorry, if it gets a bit chaotic. Anyways, recently, I came across a question regarding Higuchi from Bungou Stray Dogs. It was about what Higuchi’s ability would be called and what type it would be. So I won’t go into details whether she has an ability or not. I believe she has since she is named after an author (and Asagiri himself kinda confirmed it via Twitter). Thus, I just want to write my thoughts on the potential names and kind of ability.
Since abilities in the BSD world are always named after rather well-known works of the authors, I compared some of the famous works of Higuchi Ichiyo. Now mind you, I haven’t read her works myself. I mostly relied on comparing summaries and analyses of them. Since there are not a lot of summaries, I read two lesser-known stories myself. I will add the links of the summaries/analyses of the works down below. However, while comparing I found two works that would fit Higuchi. Now, first what do I mean by “fit”? Well, it might be best to start explaining what I think about the type of Higuchi’s ability.
I believe Higuchi has not an offensive type of ability. Nothing like Atsushi’s, Akutagawa’s, Kyouka’s etc. If she had, I’m sure she would have used it already, since she’s fighting a lot with her guns, why wouldn’t she use her ability as an addition, why would she hide it? There are two possibilities why we haven’t seen her ability yet. First possibility would be that her ability is not visible like Odasaku’s or Ango’s, maybe it’s even an ability that she hasn’t even discovered, just like Fukuzawa hasn’t realized he has one before the ADA. Second would be that she can use her ability only under stringent conditions. And I believe it’s the latter, hear me out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember this scene from Chapter 14? Higuchi reaches out to hold Akutagawa’s hand but then pulls back because she remembered him saying that he doesn’t need her help. Now, you could argue that holding the hands of injured loved ones is a gesture of closeness, a way to show them your support, a way to tell them that you’re staying by their side. And Aku doesn’t want this support, so that’s why she retracted her hand. But something bothers me here. In this scene it looks like Aku slapped Higuchi’s hand away, doesn’t it? And then he says, he doesn’t need her help, instead of support. I know, you could say support and help are almost the same. But to me, help is something that you do more “actively”, while support can be something passive. What if Higuchi’s hand represents this “active” help? And what would actively help Akutagawa in this very moment? A healing ability for example. Coincidentally, in the panel before, Hirotsu asks Higuchi what power she posses to make them [the black lizard] obey. Is this a hint that there is a hint about Higuchi’s ability in the next panel? Maybe. But let’s look at the next panel. It’s the title page of this chapter.
Tumblr media
As you can see, Higuchi has a bandage wrapped around her leg and they seem connected to Akutagawa. In this chapter, it is revealed that Higuchi contemplated about leaving the Port Mafia but her reason for staying is implied to be Akutagawa. This is perfectly symbolized by the bandages in this title page. The bandages coming from Akutagawa are holding her leg back, stopping her from walking away from the PM. But maybe there is a second interpretation? If you’re looking at Akutagawa’s left hand, the bandages are starting to come off. What if this means Akutagawa is healing and doesn’t need the bandages anymore? Instead it wraps around Higuchi’s leg, restricting her movement. What if Higuchi’s ability allows her to help someone else (doesn’t have to be necessarily a healing ability) but in exchange she needs to sacrifice something? Anyways, I think she has an ability which allows her to help other people in a non-combat way. With this in mind, I was looking through several works of Higuchi Ichiyo, searching for something that “fits”. Meaning that I was looking for parallels and themes in irl Higuchi’s stories that could be “converted” into an ability. Just like the coat that the protagonist of Rashomon stole in order to now die of hunger was used as Akutagawa’s ability which seems to be able to eat everything, or like the wish that one’s brother does not die in war in Thou Shalt Not Die became Yosano’s ability and serving as a basis of her background story. Anyways, I’d like to present the works that could be used for Higuchi’s ability and draw some parallels.
1. The Thirteen’s Night
The story revolves around a poor woman, called Oseki. Thanks to her marriage to a rich man, her family was able to live a better life and her brother found a job. But on the thirteenth night of the ninth month of the lunar calendar (one of two special nights for moon viewing), Oseki visited her parents with the intention on asking her parents for approval for divorcing her husband. Before entering, she overhears her parents talking about how lucky they are that they have such good children who don’t cause trouble and that they are very thankful for this marriage. Hesitating at first, she finally goes in and admits that she wants to divorce her husband because he abuses her mentally. He insults her constantly and tells her that she's worthless, stupid, and uneducated. Her mother is outraged. But her father, even though he acknowledges her suffering, reminds her what her husband has done for this family and that she would lose her son since women couldn’t get custody of their children after a divorce at that time. Agreeing with her father, Oseki decides to go back to her husband:
“It was selfish of me to think of a divorce. You're right. If I couldn't see Tarō, there'd be no point in living. I might flee my present sorrows, but what kind of future would I have? If I could think of myself as already dead, that would solve everything… Then Tarō would have both his parents with him. It was a foolish idea I had, and I've troubled you with the whole unpleasant business. From tonight I will consider myself dead — a spirit who watches over Tarō. That way I can bear Isamu's cruelty for a hundred years to come.”
– In The Shade of Spring Leaves, translated by Robert Lyons Danly
Just like BSD Higuchi contemplates leaving the PM, the protagonist here wants to leave her husband. The PM is like the husband. It allows her to support herself and probably her family (at least we saw that she has a sister). But there is constant abuse. Akutagawa is clearly the biggest source of abuse that we can see. But it’s not only him. In Chapter 14, Mori asks her if she is really suited for this job. Telling her indirectly that she is useless or that she is too weak for the PM. Later, you can see the Black Lizard doubting her capabilities, even threatening her. But just like Oseki she stays because of a loved one. What really concerns me is Oseki saying that she will consider herself as a dead spirit watching over Tarō. What if Higuchi, in order to use her ability, has to sacrifice part of her lifespan? Or maybe she loses a feeling? Like e.g. she loses the ability to feel happiness, making her a bit more dead inside? If you draw this parallel, you could also say that when ‘consider myself dead’ is the condition of the ability, then ‘watching over Tarō’ is a hint to Higuchi’s ability. An ability that allows her to watch over and protect her loved ones? This theme fits Higuchi perfectly, since a big topic in Higuchi’s story line is how she wants to help and protect Akutagawa. So it makes sense that her ability might be something that would help him (**intensely squinting at the recent events in the manga, especially chapter 88**). Moving on to the second possibility before the pain starts to set in.
2. Takekurabe (literally: "Comparing heights", "Child's Play" in the Robert Lyons Danly translation, "Growing Up" in the Edward Seidensticker translation)
Now this is considered as Higuchi Ichiyo’s masterpiece. So the chances are high that the ability is based on this story. The story accompanies a group of children who live next to the Yoshiwara quarter. There are two rival gangs: the main street gang (’omote-machi’), lead by Shōtarō, a cultivated young boy who is the grandson of the owner of a pawnshop, and the back street gang (’yoko-chō’), lead by Chōkichi, the impulsive firefighter’s son. (Maybe a parallel to the ADA with (cultivated) Fukuzawa and the PM with Mori who’s a doctor which belongs into the same category of occupation as firefighters?). Among the main street gang, there was Midori, popular and pretty, who lives in the brothel where her sister works. Shōtarō probably has a crush on her. But Midori probably has feelings for the other main character, Nobu, the son of a Buddhist priest. Even though he returns her feelings, he distances himself from her out of his self-consciousness. Later he joins the rival gang after repeated request by Chōkichi. Anyways, they spend their days very care-free, attending school, playing with each other after school. One day, some conflict arises between the gangs and Midori, while protecting someone else, gets slapped by Chōkichi with a sandal. He then proceeds to tell her that their gang is backed by no other than Nobu. Midori feels humiliated and stops going to school. Soon she also stops playing with the other children. After some time passed, Midori is seen with her hair all done up. She has become a distant, lady-like young woman. This probably means that she got her first period and is old enough to become a prostitute or that she just had her first client as a courtesan. Little by little, the children grow up. Nobu is sent off to be trained as a priest and Shōtarō has come to accept the responsibilities of his family’s shop.
There are several themes in this story that I’d like to point out, namely unrequited love, Midori’s transformation and underlying unchangeable fates. The first one is obviously a big theme in Higuchi’s story. Midori and Nobu are unable to express their love for each other because of their positions in life. Just like Higuchi is unable to express her feelings for Akutagawa. If you want some hope, AkuHigu shippers, maybe Aku has also feelings for Higuchi but is still very confused and self-conscious about it just like Nobu. Anyways, because of their positions in the PM, it would make everything very complicated if Higuchi confessed. Additionally, Midori feels like she was humiliated by her love when she got slapped by that sandal. I’m sure that Higuchi gets humiliated by Akutagawa a lot. The next theme is Midori’s transformation from a tomboyish to a lady-like, distant woman. We all know Higuchi looks really badass in her suits. But again, look at the title page of chapter 14. Higuchi is dressed up all prettily and lady-like in a dress, and her hair is done all up. Just like Midori after her transformation. Midori’s transformation stands for Midori accepting her occupation as a prostitute even though she doesn’t want to. In this chapter, we see that Higuchi has accepted her job in the PM, even though she doesn’t want to do this job. At the end Shōtarō sings the following:
"Growing up,
she plays among the butterflies
and flowers.
But she turns sixteen,
and all she knows
is work and sorrow."
– In The Shade of Spring Leaves, translated by Robert Lyons Danly
I don’t know about you guys, but to me that necklace that Higuchi is wearing in that title page looks like a butterfly to me. This is really farfetched but maybe this could be a hint about when Higuchi joined the Port Mafia? However, the biggest theme in Takekurabe is the underlying unchangeable fate of the children. Shōtarō was destined to become the next owner of the pawnshop, Nabu was destined to become a Buddhist monk and Midori would become a prostitute. Maybe this gives us some insight into why Higuchi joined the PM? Maybe one of her parents was a PM member? I also like to think that since Aku is in the PM, since she wants to be with him, she can’t but stay in the PM, and this is her fate. Nevertheless, fate is a central theme in Takekurabe. This is the reason why I think, if the ability is based on this story, Higuchi’s ability would be something like changing fates. Changing fate of someone else but in return she must sacrifice something.
Okay, so this post has become quite long. But I still wanted to mention two other stories Yamizakura (Flowers at Dusk) and The Sound of the Koto where I saw a lot of parallels. I just want to briefly tell you the story of The Sound of the Koto. In this story a woman abandons her son in order to leave her husband who has a bad reputation. The husband then turns into an alcoholic and dies later at a party because of alcohol intoxication. The boy becomes hardened to the world, despises his mother for leaving them, and even contemplates suicide. The story shifts then to a woman playing the koto.  I want to give you an excerpt for the end of this story:
“On this night the sound of the woman’s playing helped another to be reborn. Through fourteen springs and fourteen autumns, the boy had been buffeted by the rains. His heart had gradually toughened until it had become as hard as stone. No arrow could penetrate it. He seemed destined to follow the example of his father, to die among the fields or in the mountains, where his remains would be bleached by the elements. Some were convinced the boy’s life would end in prison chains, while his bad name spread to every roadside.
But now, at once, the tenderness buried in his heart was freed by the midnight strains of the koto. For the first time in many years, he felt tears come to his eyes. Or were they jewelled drops of dew? He would not exchange them for anything.
He, who had known neither love nor compassion, and who had no idea what the player of these refrains could even look like, felt a moment of happiness as the music drifted over the garden wall. […]
[…] How could a stormy wind blow now? The clouds in his heart had disappeared. Once more the woman began to play. The sound of the koto would be his friend for a hundred years, the seed for a hundred years of yearning. He had entered a world where a hundred different flowers wer in bloom.
– In The Shade of Spring Leaves, translated by Robert Lyons Danly
This boy somehow just reminds me so much of Akutagawa. Just like this boy, without any parents and home, wandering around in this world, Akutagawa has become hardened to the world. I’d like to think that Higuchi’s ability could free Akutagawa from his pain, just like the sound of koto does for this boy.
So, now I said everything I wanted to say, I guess. If there is really anyone reading this and reading this until here, thank you so much! I appreciate it very much that you kept reading even though my thoughts are probably quite chaotic. I’m sorry if there are any grammar mistakes or weird sentence structures or anything like this. English is not my first language. I’m very happy, if you could point out any mistakes or have any suggestion for improvement. Lastly, I just want to remind you that these are my thoughts, I love discussing so feel free to comment your thoughts but I’d like you to keep in mind that there is not necessarily a wrong or right, theories are theories, interpretations are interpretations. Everyone has another interpretation. They can only be proven wrong by Asagiri sensei himself. Until then just keep the discussions friendly and tolerant towards other people’s thoughts and opinions.
Bungo Stray Dogs Coffee Shot
Barista's Choice
~~~
“Stohohohohohop!” Atsushi’s voice was whiny, but the hint of desperation within it didn’t overshadow his panicked elation at being stuck in this position. “A-Ahahahahaku, plehehehehease!”
Akutagawa merely smirked at him as he once again attempted to grab his wrists. It was amusing that the weretiger hadn’t yet learned that getting anywhere close to his tickling fingers would only make Rashomon tighten his hold, stop him in his tracks. Or perhaps that was the fun of it for the detective. His cheeks were certainly pink enough and his smile was certainly genuine enough to indicate he was having fun despite his pleading words.
Atsushi frantically flexed his fingers, trying to grab the air around Akutagawa’s hands, trying to stop him. It was no use. Rashomon held him just far enough away that he was within reach of bringing an end to his ticklish agony yet not able to do anything about it.
“If you want me to stop so bad, then make me, weretiger.” Akutagawa’s words were cold, to the point, teasing. He chuckled at the whine Atsushi let slip. “Break through my defenses if you’re so desperate, you pathetic weakling.”
The mafia member had learned in his few times tickling his adversary that teasing of all sorts worked on the detective beneath him, including the mocking kind. Sure enough, Atsushi arched his back and flexed his fingers even more, trying to do something – anything – to stop him. Instead he collapsed back on the ground and surrendered to his laughter, limbs going weak. Rashomon began to pull his arms further away from his torso, leaving him more vulnerable than before.
Akutagawa plunged a finger into his navel.
Atsushi’s hands flew down yet again.
Rashomon halted him just an inch away from his tormentor.
“AHAHAHAHAHAKU!! PLEHEHEHEHEHEASE!!” the detective screamed, laughter pouring out of him in wave after wave of unbridled, terrified joy. “I CAHAHAHAHAHAHAN’T!!”
“Can’t take it? Too bad.” The raven-haired man shifted out of his straddle and braced himself with one hand by Atsushi’s white hair that had gone wild in his thrashing, grinning wickedly down at him, still wiggling that single finger that was spelling out his victory tickle by careful, deliberate tickle. Atsushi stared up at him, wide-eyed and afraid, but also – somewhere deeper in his gaze – daring him to continue.
Akutagawa leaned in close, their faces just inches apart, Atsushi’s laughter filling the space between them. The detective was blushing furiously, and his rival couldn’t get enough of it.
“You’re all mine now, weretiger.”

Cat!Atsushi spending the day with Akutagawa (hc)
This is based off my “Atsushi w/cat like urges” headcanons (will be linked below). Feel free to take this as platonic or romantic 😉
TW- mild swearing (nothing to bad, just a few mentioned here or there)
Tumblr media
It originally started out as a way for the ADA to get at least one moment of peace to do their work without worrying about Atsushi accidentally swating something off the table or out of someone’s hands
It was one of Atsushi’s “bad days” where the cat urges he felt from the Tiger were more violent/prominent and between the broken mugs and near constant head scratches, everyone was starting to get frustrated
Atsushi included
He felt terrible for causing so many problems around the office and always got frustrated when he couldn’t control the urges the Tiger gave him
Of course no one blamed Atsushi, it wasn’t his fault his ability caused him to nap if he sat in the sun to long, or lead him to ignore people completely for no reason
But it was taking Kunikida all his will power to not yell at Atsushi when he swatted at his ponytail like it was a cat toy for the fourth time that morning
Of course Dazai, being the selfless mentor he was, offered an idea
“I have a job for you that should take up most of the day. I’ll even call Akutagawa to help out!”
It was clear as day that Dazai was scheming something, but everyone was to tired to argue.
And it would be good for the truce if the Agency and Mafia worked together more often
So thats what lead to Dazai and Atsushi walking across town to the Port Mafia HQ to steal Akutagawa on his day off
He refused to let Atsushi know where he lived, so they planned to meet at the Port Mafia instead
“Why do I have to be teamed up with him?” Atsushi had whined as they walked through Yokohama
“Because it’ll help the Agency and Mafia get along better!” Dazai had responded with a big smile as he wrapped an arm around Atsushi so he didn’t walk off
‘It’ll help You and Akutagawa get along better’ is what Dazai really meant
Luckily Atsushi’s discourage about having to spend the day with Akutagawa kept him from getting to distracted on the walk over (he only wondered off twice)
When they got there Akutagawa was patiently waiting outside the Port Mafia building, though he also looked less than pleased to be spending his day off with the weretiger
Dazai pretty much just dropped off Atsushi with a “Take care of him, and be careful around cups!” Before walking off
Atsushi and Akutagawa just glared at each other before Atsushi sighed and asked if Akutagawa was hungry
“We can go over the case while we eat, that’s all” Akutagawa didn’t argue, just huffed and started walking down the street
The first thing that Akutagawa learned about the Jinko was that if he didn’t keep a close eye on Atsushi, he would loose him in the heavy crowds of Yokohama
The first time Akutagawa lost Atsushi, the latter was helping a little girl who had gotten separated from her parents. Nothing new
The second time he lost Atsushi, he was found at one of the candy shops in town. “Ranpo-san’s birthday is coming up soon and this is his favourite shop” Atsushi had claimed
They spent much longer than Akutagawa would have liked in the candy store, but Atsushi refused to budge until he got all of Ranpo’s favourites
The third time they got separated, Akutagawa found that Atsushi had somehow been convinced to chase birds in the park with some of the little kids
Akutagawa had no idea how or when that had happened but he was already starting to loose his patience. This was the third time in the half hour since they left that Atsushi had wondered off
Akutagawa had to practically drag Atsushi by the collar to get him to leave, especially when Atsushi tried to get them to stay by giving him the big kitten eyes
It took all Akutagawa’s will power and “hatred” for Atsushi to not sigh and agree to five more minutes of running around
The second thing Akutagawa learned was that Atsushi ate...a lot...
“It’s the tiger” he had said sheepishly after scarfing down his 12th bowl of chazuke within the short time they had been at the restaurant.
Akutagawa just hummed and continued to eat his food. He wasn’t one to judge, Rashomon was the same way.
The third thing Akutagawa learned was to keep anything and everything glass or ceramic away from Atsushi
Atsushi had tried to explain that it was one of his “bad days” but Akutagawa didn’t catch on until half way through their lunch when Atsushi tried to swat the tower of empty bowls off the table
Luckily for them Aku was quick on his feet, using Rashomon to catch the bowls, and finding out it apparently wasn’t uncommon for things to get knocked off the tables according to their waitress
“The tables are pretty small, it happens all the time so don’t worry” she had said while Atsushi began to apologize profusely for the trouble
Needless to say, they took over the neighbouring table to keep their empty dishes on so they didn’t have another incident
The fourth, fifth, and sixth things Akutagawa learned was that Atsushi couldn’t sit in the sun for more then a few minutes without falling asleep, he was clingy, and he was addicted to head scratches
“Jinko, hand me that case file Dazai-san gave you.” Akutagawa had asked only to get no response from Atsushi.
“Jinko? Jinko are you listening to me?” He had asked, looking up to see Atsushi’s head resting in his arms and face towards the window. It was only when Akutagawa saw the sun illuminating his partners face did he realize Atsushi had fallen sleep.
“You have got to be kidding me...” it took Akutagawa two minutes longer than usual to wake Atsushi up. It wasn’t the first time Atsushi has fallen asleep during a mission. But it was usually during late night steak outs not in the middle of the afternoon at a restaurant. In the end Akutagawa had to blow in Atsushi’s face to get him to finally wake up.
“Huh...what’s wrong Akutagawa?” Atsushi had asked as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. Akutagawa did not find it cute when Atsushi’s nose scrunched up as he stretched out his arms. He most certainly did not!
“You fell asleep”
“O-oh my gosh! I-I’m so so sorry Akutagawa! The sun makes me really sleepy! I’m sorry!” Atsushi had stuttered out, face red with embarrassment. Akutagawa just shook his head and told Atsushi it was fine.
“But sit over hear so you don’t fall asleep again, idiot”
So there they sat, Atsushi sitting as close to Akutagawa as humanly possible. Like he was borderline sitting in Aku’s lap as they looked over the files
“Jinko must you be so close?”
“Yes, it’ll be easier for both of us to read the files like this”
So there they sat, Atsushi practically in Akutagawa’s lap, his head on the mafioso’s shoulder as they read through the files Dazai gave them.
It wasn’t long before Akutagawa could feel Atsushi staring a hole into his hands. Every time Akutagawa moved his hand to turn a page or cover a cough, Atsushi’s eyes would follow like a hawk
Rather than just ask Atsushi what was wrong, Akutagawa decided to do a little experiment. He had remembered seeing Dazai pat Atsushi’s head a few times in the past, and the weretiger seemed to like it
So without much thought Akutagawa raised his free hand and rested it on Atsushi’s head. Atsushi squeaked a little in surprised confusion before eventually melting into his partners touch
That’s when Akutagawa discovered his favourite thing about Atsushi; thing seven, the jinko purred when he was happy
Though it wasn’t long before Akutagawa learned his least favourite cat trait that Atsushi had
It was getting late and both boys were starting to think Dazai had sent them on a while goose chase (took them long enough)
“I’m starting to think Dazai-san has sent us on a wild goose chase.” Akutagawa huffed out, rubbing his temples with his free hand. The other one was holding three of Atsushi’s shopping bags, apparently they were all gifts for the Agency members.
After a few moments of silence, Akutagawa raised an eyebrow.
“Jinko?”
No response.
“Jinko! Jinko are you listening to me?”
Still no response. Now Akutagawa was starting to get annoyed.
“Jinko you best not have fallen asleep again because I will NOT be carrying you back-“ When Akutagawa finally turned around he was surprised to see Atsushi still following him, and not asleep on a park bench (it had happened earlier, Aku was not happy). Though rather then looking Akutagawa in the face like his partner usually would, Atsushi was staring at his phone.
Okay. Maybe Atsushi just didn’t hear him, the weretiger did have an annoying habit of zoning out during missions when nothing was happening. So Akutagawa stopped and tried again.
“Jinko snap out of whatever trance you’re in. We’re still working remember?”
But rather than Atsushi snapping out of it, stopping in his tracks and apologizing like usual, he just continued walking down the street. It was almost as if he was ignoring Akutagawa.
“Jinko are you ignoring me!? Where are you going!?”
Still no response. Now Akutagawa was getting pissed. No way in hell was he just going to stand by and allow his cat like partner to just ignore him after all the babysitting he had to do! Atsushi had walked off three more times after lunch and Akutagawa did not want to be dragged around another department store.
So Akutagawa stormed over to Atsushi, grabbed his shoulder, spun the weretiger around, and snatched his phone.
“Atsushi look at me damn it!”
That seemed to pull Atsushi out of his daze. ‘Finally!’ Akutagawa thought as Atsushi looked up at him, purple and gold eyes blinking a few times before registering what was happening.
Suddenly Atsushi’s face turned a deep red and his face dropped in horror; Akutagawa had him by the shoulder, Atsushi’s phone in hand, and had actually used his name for once. He messed up and he messed up big.
“A-Akutagawa...I-I-I’m so so so so so s-sorry! Oh, it happened again, and in public this time! I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to, I just kind of zone out and oh my god your probably angry with me now!” Atsushi scrambled out in a mix of embarrassment, guilt, and fear. It was one thing when he accidentally ignored the ADA members...it was another thing to ignore Akutagawa.
Noticing Atsushi’s nervousness, Akutagawa let out a long, drawn out sigh and let go of Atsushi to run his hands over his face. While Akutagawa didn’t appreciate being completely ignored like that, he could tell Atsushi wasn’t doing it on purpose. Honestly, he was starting to think that none of the weird things Atsushi had done today was on purpose.
“It-its fine, just don’t let it happen again”
“Yeah, okay, I’ll try!”
It wasn’t long after that till they realised they had, in fact, been sent on a wild goose chase and neither one was happy about it
“Dazai-san! I can’t believe you would send us out on a fake mission like this! Well, actually I can believe it, but still!” Atsushi had said the moment they entered the ADA office
Dazai, of course, was laying on the couch with a smile on his face that clearly screamed, ‘But you both had a good time didn’t you?’
Despite a few hiccups here and there, Akutagawa and Atsushi had to admit that the day wasn’t all that bad.
They still kicked Dazai off the couch though. They were tired and needed a minute to sit.
It wasn’t long before Atsushi had passed out again, his head laying in Akutagawa’s lap this time.
“Do you want me to move him Akutagawa? It’s getting pretty late?” Dazai had asked when he noticed the silver haired boy had gone quite.
Akutagawa glanced down at his partner; he had covered Atsushi with his jacket so only his face was visible, but even so his face looked the most relaxed it had been all day and he could hear Atsushi’s purring as he combed through his hair. A ghost of a smile tugged at Akutagawa’s lips as he shook his head.
“No, it’s alright. It seems he’s claimed my lap for the time being”

Wow okay, this is my first time doing a set up like this! I hope it turned out good 😅. Like I mentioned earlier this is based off of a mini series on my tiktok (@bigglitchcos) about Atsushi if he had cat urges. Someone had mentioned doing a skit where Shin Soukoku spend the day together, so here’s my take!

Are requests still open?
I see you do poly bungou fics. Is it possible to ask for a poly awktagawa atsuhi and reader. With a reader who has no powers and got in trouble and these two go looking for them?
I can barely find any poly in this fandom 😭😭😭
Yeah, I get that, the Bungou Stray Dogs fandom really lacks poly fits. But that's what I'm here for, right?

Looking back on it, you really should have known better than to walk alone at night as a person without any special abilities. You had been on your way to the alleyway where you, Atsushi and Akutagawa often met, seeing as the opposing sides your boyfriends were working for made it impossible to do so openly. But Atsushi left the agency earlier today due to a case being solved much faster than expected and therefore couldn't take you with him like he normally did. So, instead calling one of your lovers and asking them to come get you, you decided to go to the meeting point yourself.
And now you were currently in an abandoned warehouse after being brought there by two brutes who caught you walking alone and powerless in the dark. They were currently arguing about your fate, the words "black market" being mentioned quite often. Unfortunately, they had taken your phone from you, making it impossible to reach Atsushi and Akutagawa. You just had to hope that they would somehow be able to find you.
Meanwhile, Atsushi and Akutagawa were going insane at the meeting point. You were taking way too long and since you had no ability, practically anything could have happened to you. Atsushi tried to be optimistic, but even he was losing hope, especially since his boyfriend was about to go on a rampage. After five more minutes of waiting, they decided to go look for you, so Atsushi transformed into his tiger form, hoping that his enhanced senses would help him find your current location. And he was successful: He was able to trace your faint smell to an abandoned warehouse a bit away from him. After alerting Akutagawa, the dark-haired man climbed on top of the white tiger, causing him to let out an annoyed growl, and the two were on their way to get you.
You were getting more and more worried as the time passed by. What if Atsushi and Akutagawa weren't going to find you? Were you really done for? Just as one of the brutes picked you up, a giant tiger tackled him, throwing the man to the ground and leaving him breathless under the weight of the beast. A figure jumped down from its back and when you saw them, you sighed in relief as you recognized your boyfriends. Akutagawa quickly used Rashomon to take care of the rest of the men while Atsushi transformed back into a human and ran over to check if you were alright. After confirming that you weren't injured, he helped you up and told Akutagawa that everything was fine. Akutagawa turned around and you could see a bit of relief on his face, before he covered it up by scolding you for not being careful, causing Atsushi to scold him in return for being inconsiderate of your situation. In the end, you three managed to have a nice night together none the less and from now on, Atsushi would always go with you.
