Teen Wolf 2x12 but it goes a little different.

He really had a shitty year. He wouldn’t dare to compare it to his friends but he really had a shitty year. Ok maybe Scott turning into a werewolf because of him was not good but at least he wouldn’t die of an athma attack and he became captain of the lacrosse team, ok maybe jackson turning into a manipulated lizard wasn’t fun but he half bring it upon himself as he was so obsessed about taking the bite to became the best , ok Lydia being hurt and manipulated by Peter Hale and her feeling like she is going crazy wasn’t good but now that she knew she seem a little better tho, ok Isaac’s father being killed will the boy was facing his new found wolfiness wasn’t good but he deserved it and he knew that Isaac would come around at some point, ok Boyd and Erica being hunted and tortured weren’t the best way to came into your new superpowered self and ok Allison had saw her aunt throat being ripped of and her mom killed herself, they were both psycho but still it was not fine. Now he was in his jeep with Lydia Martin after he get to find her. He had pushed her away but when his dad had told him that he was a hero, which he wasn’t really, he get back to find her. He had a phone call from Erica telling him that her and Boyd where free because of Chris Argent. it was good ! At least one good thing! Alright maybe he should have get to Allison after her mom’s death and get her into the really VIP club of the-ones-with-dead-mom… maybe she wouldn’t have been so quick to hunt Derek and his pack. Oh he should have bring Derek in the club too! The three of them would have bound around this similarity and maybe everything would have been fine!! Does Scott have told her why Derek at bite her mom? No, he certainly didn’t… So he should have told her and they all should be a little angry at Scott because she should have been, and Derek can be too because Scott always put every bad thing on Derek, and Stiles is angry too because his best friend never asked if he was alright! And always ditch him for his girlfriend! Talking about motherless people, he should have extend the invitation to Isaac too!

That what he was thinking when he tumbled into the warehouse and hit Lizard-Jackson. Everybody looked at him and Lydia as they jumped out of the car. He looked around and almost directly understood what was going on in here: Isaac was still full of dagger's wounds, Allison had said daggers in hands and was ready to fight, Scott was looking at Stiles with a confused look, somewhere hidding was Peter, he saw the body of Gerard Argent lying in a puddle of black goo and he saw Derek still paralysed on the floor in Beta form,wrecked and a betrayed look on his face. When he get back to reality Lydia went to Jackson and everybody was concentrated on them. Except Stiles, he kept his eyes on the evil Argent Grandpa, he looked dead, everybody thought he was dead. But he saw it , the suptil twitch of fingers. He start to head toward him slowly, well it wasn’t like anybody would notice him. As he arrive next to the old man he heard Peter and Derek leap to Jackson and dig their claws in his torso, back and front. A loud gasp of everyone, a sad scream of Lydia. The strawberry blond girl was crying as Jackson was dying in her arm. She started to walk away when suddenly everybody could heard claws scraping against the floor and Jackson rise back to life as a werewolf. Great so fucking great now the guy will be in the back-from-the-dead-werewolf club with Peter and once again he will be the only one to be alone in a club. He should really had invited Allison and Derek in his dead-mom club!They all cheered up but he felt Gerard try to move under the foot he had put on him to pin him on the ground and he couldn't help but gave him a hit in the face that was received with a grunt. Everybody turned toward him, Scott with his "it's not how we do things" look, not a single "what happened to your face Stiles?" and something hurt in his chest when he saw that Derek was trying to avoid his eyes. Does the guy thaught that he had something to do with all of this? whatever it is. So he look at Scott hand asked before his best friend opened his mouth.

-What have you done Scott?

-I didn't do any...

-Cut your crap!! What the fuck have you done?!

Stiles was pissed, really pissed and Scott wasn't used to be the target of this much of anger from his best friend. So he offered his best puppy eyes and explained what he had done. And,God help him, Stiles look furious after that. Every soul in this place saw Stiles assessing eyes fall on them, one by one and finally again on Derek. Did the man really thought that Stiles was a part of this shity plan? that he would have breatrayed him like this?! And then, Stiles snaped. He was fuming

-You really had go with this shit of a plan without coming to me for advise?! You are really this stupid Scott?! but I will handle you last ! First someone come and get this VERY ALIVE old creep tied up tightly thank you!

Chris came quickly to put handcuf and rope on Gerard, gun ready to shoot just in case. Stiles walked to Allison and held a finger out to her face.

-You! Can you tell me why you came so violently after Derek and his pack?

She held her head high and almost bite with her words

-Because Derek killed my mother Stiles! You know that my mother his dead! You can't understand!

Stiles’ finger drop with his hand along his side, he shook his head, sadness creeping into the anger and suddenly a little laugh came from Stiles and harsh look and tone were directed to the young huntress

-I can't understand? Me? Your mom is dead yes, It's sad, and I'm sorry for you Allison. But you are seventeen, you should have enough maturity to see what's happening! Derek didn't kill your mom! He had bite her! He had bite her to protect Scott from your fucking psychotic mom who was trying to kill him! She killed herself! She choose to die ! She could have lived as a Werewolf but she choose your stupid family code over her husband and daughter! My mom died too, but my mom never had the choice! She died when I was ten! You aunt killed the entire Hale family, she had killed Derek's mom when he was sixteen! And you dare coming after him because your mom choose to kill herself ?! You don't think that the fact that he loose all his family because of YOUR aunt and had to run away and had to fight your family again, is enough? and I don't list everything here! You came after Erica and Boyd who did nothing to your family for this too?! You had hurt Isaac this bad for this too?! You had fucking worried your dad for this too... You had loose your mom, he had loose his wife ... So get it together ! You are acting like a poor spoiled princess and don't even care about hurting other people ! I don't care that you had been manipulated by your grand father, you could have listen to your dad, I know that he had tried...

The girl opened her mouth to argue but she couldn't came with anything and looked down letting her daggers fall on the floor.

-I...I'm sorry Stiles...I..I had let my pain blind me and I didn't though about all this

-YES OBVIOUSLY!

Derek was looking at Stiles with wide eyes, a little warmth was growing into his chest. The boy was defending him? Then Stiles started to lecture everyone in the room, coming to Lydia and Jackson after that.

-Lydia, you already had your lecture earlier, think about it would you?

She nodded and almost hide herself behind the very naked Jackson. Stiles sigh before he fetch a spare sweetpant and t-shirt that he let in his car. He through it to the blond boy and didn't wait to speak first

-Just take the fucking clothes! Yes you can throw away those filthy and cheap rags when you get home if you want. But just Shut up and take it. And stop wanting things that people don't recommend to you. Fucking LISTEN! It could help you, don't you think? The bite that you wanted so damn much had changed you in a big lizard manipulated by a stupid teenager seeking revange and after that an evil old man seeking for the bite too! they had used you! So work on yourself now!

Jackson's jaws clench but he noded too once he had put on Stiles's clothes.

-Thanks for the clothes.

-You're welcome, I couldn’t let you walk around naked I'm not a monster...

A low growl, practicaly imperceptible by anyone took place in Derek's chest, he didn't like the fact that Stiles' scent was now all over Jackson. It felt wrong. But he took on him and follow the boy that was now mooving to Isaac. But a softer look appeared on the sheriff's son face

-Are you ok Isaac? Did it heal fine?

The young werewolf nodded and looked at Stiles confused by the soft tone but suddenly something more sour hint in the pale boy's voice.

-How is it to be Scott best friend for a few days? fun? Do you see what happen when you follow his stupid plans blindly without using your brain? You get fucking hurt! Because he don't take you in count in his plan! He didn't thought that you could be fucking hurt! You should stick to your alpha and don't go following my stupid childhood best friend if you are not ready to use your brain! You could have died today! learn to take care of you would you!?

Isaac looked shipishly at Stiles and let a little whine escape. Stiles had use a softer tone and hadn't yell at him. Stiles came to ruffle slowly Isaac hair.

-What I'm saying is that you are clever and you know how to survive but once someone show you some attention you just do wathever they say and t's not safe for you Isaac, I don't want you to be hurt for something like today or be use by someone you understand?

The young wolf nod and melt a little against Stiles touch. The human had been kind, he knew that Isaac would be affraid if he had yell or seemed ready to hit him. But even softer he had made his point heard. Then the boy get to Peter.

-You creeper Wolf! If you had helped your nephew this wouldn't had happened! You just had to kill the evil grandpa and everything would have been fine! Stop hiding !! You want your last remaining family to die ?!

-No, I don't! You have no lesson to tell me you little human!

-Yes I have some actually! You really have to learn how to take care of the ones you love! Because I know you care about Derek! So act like it would you!! You are really smart! I know that you saw what you could have done to avoid this outcome don't you?

The old psychopath over there had abducted me and brought me in a freaking bassement with Boyd and Erica , the two of them being tortured and I had been beaten up because I am your friend! it was a message for you !! You didn't even care about your very human childhood bestfriend before your little huntress of a girlfriend who know how to use weapons! I don't talk about Mama McCall, you had done right for that at least! God! what even was your shitty plan here...Don't! The young wolf looked like a kicked puppy but wouldn't dare to spoke as he had never saw his bestfriend so angry, hurt and betrayed. Stiles came to put a hand on Chris shoulder, his voice softened.

Chris offered a small smile to Stiles. The teen then walk to Derek and point a finger at him. The man crossed his arms trying to look bigger and confident, ready to took a big yell. But he couldn't help his eyes to go wide when he heard the soft and concern tone in Stiles voice.

-You!! Are you alright? I'm sorry for what Scott had done to you, he should have talk about his plan with you before. If it confort you I wasn't aware of it neither. It was half good and half really stupid, so many things has not been taken in concideration. And I don't want you to think that I was a part of that! If I was it would have been almost perfect, and you would have known, I wouldn't have done that to you...But you should communicate more you know that?! Anyway, you shouldn't have to be forced to bite someone, and even more this filthy Evil Old grandpa and..

Derek couldn't take it he was listening intendly at Stiles but his bruised cheek and his slited lips was distracting. He took the boy’s face carefully in his hands as everyone gasped at the mouvement and as the man dared to cut Stiles mid-sentence. His eyes glowing red as soon as he felt Stiles’ pain.

-Stiles, just a second... Me, I'm fine, I'm okay, No wound that couldn't heal in minutes and nothing more than a deep feeling of filthiness, betrayal and now it don't seem so important because I know that you are not a part of it... I know it's strange... But ...You... Are you ok? You have more than just you face...You have so much pain ...

Derek couldn't help and had started to drow pain from Stiles, The teen was in so much pain that Derek couldn't understand how he was still standing and yelling to everyone. And as easy as he had snapped from anger, Stiles broke from hurt and the loss of adrenaline, tears falling from those big bambi whisky eyes. Violent sobs escaped Stiles as he hold his ribs even if he couldn't feel the pain right now. Derek was heartbroken as he smell the suddent scent of sadness, fear and pain rolling in wave from Stiles. He couldn't hold a whine and he pull causiously the human against him. With one hand Stiles gripped at his shirt like it was a life line.

-I...I hate all of this! I know that sometimes I don't care about people feelings but now it's too much. Everyone fight because they are too self centered to care about others. And Erica and Boyd where tortured and I couldn't helped them...a...And I didn't even had the chance to enjoy my good game of tonight because I had been abducted and beaten up by this old freak! and ...And It was a really good game you know? I ..I scored a few time and I made us win! Do you believe it!!And I had done everything for Scott, I know it's my fault if he had been turned, it should have been me... (« yes! i should have bite you indeed ! » they all could hear Peter add in the back) But do you think it's normal that he totally forget about me when it come to protecting people he love?! Like her dad would never let Allison be hurt by anyone! And Mamà McCall know about all the supernatural stuff! But me, my dad didn't even know ... I had to lie to him once again...And I’m alone!! I can’t heal fast! I don’t have super strength or, know how to use weapons. It’s a matter of time before you see that Lydia is smarter than me! And we all know she is more than human! I’m the only basic human here! And my best friend forgot to negotiate my safety… And you! You should start to take care of yourself ! Talk to us and try to trust some of us… I know that it will be difficult now because of what Scott had done here but you could trust me!! I trust You! I don’t want you to die!! I care about you! So stop doing your thing alone !! An Alpha is stronger with a big pack! So stop shutting people willing to be part of it away!! I can help even if I’m not a wolf!!

Stiles knew that he should have stop talking long ago as he could hear Scott whimpering. But he was hurt, he had a really rough day and when he saw what had happened here it was too much for him on so many levels. He could feel that Derek had tensed a little and suddenly his sob stoped. Oh god he had told this out loud isn’t it?! He was so fucked, he needed to run away from those two strong and warm arms. He tried to slip away but Derek hold tightened around him and he felt Derek’s cheek against him before the wolf start to nuzzled the crook of his neck. it felt so warm and intimate and he felt safe and so calm that he didn’t move. The Alpha talked low and soft.

-Stiles, I’m sorry… I thought that you didn’t trust me … Didn’t realize that You really cared about me… It’s okay you’re safe … you are not alone

Stiles’ hold tight on Derek’s shirt, his brain start to fill with a fog. The werewolf was draining his pain as he hugged him, he was warm and strong, a shelter of safety around his broken body. The teen let the tiredness took over, Jackson wasn’t a lizard anymore, the old psycho grandpa was tied up, Erica and Boyd were free and safe at the loft waiting for him, Allison was a little confused but hopefully not willing to kill Derek anymore, Lydia was fine, Scott had been yelled at and he would make sure later that Melissa will punish him for his stupidity, Isaac would hopefully think before following Scott’s plan from now, Chris Argent was on their side, Peter was…well Peter but not up to no good for now , no dangerous police call had emanated from the radio in the jeep so his dad was safe at home and Derek was wrapped up around him so he was sure that the man was fine. A smile appeared on his lips as he fall asleep in Derek’s arms.

-‘m feeling like a mom… kids are exhausting…

Derek carried him bridal style, smiling fondly as everyone hold small laugh. Next morning, Stiles woke up in his bed, the Alpha of the Hale pack wrapped around him, his face in the crook of his neck and a hand on his waist. Somewhere in the back of his head, a shadow was lurking, something wrong was happening. But just for a few more hours he wanted to enjoy this safe space, just a little more. He fell back to sleep as he brushed his fingers on Derek’s chest.

"Do you think we will ever recover from this?"

You had never expected your life to end up like this—total chaos. You'd thought high school was supposed to be fun. It had been at least during freshman year. You had made new friends and gone on crazy little 'adventures' with Scott and Stiles. Then sophomore year happened.

Abruptly, everything you had once known came crumbling down. Thrown into a world of werewolves and supernatural creatures, you never stood a chance.

The boy beside you sighed, his head leaning back to rest against the wall. "I don't know," he croaked, his voice cracking. He held your hand, squeezing it—a subtle reminder that he was actually there and that you weren't just conjuring him up in your mind.

You stared across the room, searching the blank wall of Stiles room for something that wasn't there. "I'm tired, Stiles."

It felt weird being so numb. Everything around you seemed to pass by, and you were stuck in place. Left behind.

What were you supposed to do now? Continue living like this. You didn't want that.

No.

You wanted Allison back.

You wanted the past two months to disappear like they never happened at all. You wanted your Stiles back, the one who always lit up the room. He was gone, though.

Just like Allison.

"I don't think I can get through this," you whispered, shifting uncomfortably in the black dress that scratched at your skin.

The funeral had been beautiful. It's what Allison deserved. Everyone had come to mourn her. You had even seen Coach wiping away a few tears during the burial. Lydia had said a few words. Scott had done an entire speech that had everyone crying in their seats. You had gotten to see your friend one last time.

She was supposed to be your maid of honor at your wedding one day.

And now she was gone.

Stiles huffed, smiling bitterly. "I don't think you have a choice." He replied, tilting his head to look at you from where you sat next to him on the floor of his room.

"Our lives have really turned into a mess," you weakly responded.

Stiles shrugged, looking back at the ground blankly. "We've come a long way from just being regular teenagers."

"I guess we are the last two humans of the bunch now."

Stiles rolled his eyes, and he nudged your shoulder, getting your attention. "Hey, at least we have each other," he said.

Your lips slowly curled up in a smile, though it was hollow. You squeezed his hand, raising it and pressing a kiss on his knuckles. "Amen to that, Stilinski."

WITH YOUR FRONT FACING THE WATER, you didn't see Void entering the bathroom. The shower curtain is the only thing that separates you and him, but still, he knows it's you.

"Oh my, it appears you're in the shower. Oops, my bad." His voice makes you freeze. You pull the shower curtain just enough to take the sight of him in. He looks sicker than sick. You had just seen him yesterday, but he looks even worse now. With his sunken eyes and bags under his eyes that seep into his skin, all you want to do is hug him and let him know he's okay.

"If I wanted an audience, I would've asked," you scowl at him, eyes rolling as you feel every fibre in you being ignited at the sight of him. You hate him. You hate what he's done to stiles. Stiles doesn't deserve this.

"So rude," Void fakes a gasp, eyes beginning to grow darker. This had to be a practical joke. He smirks as you return to the water, practically feeling your heart racing faster. "You fear me."

"In your dreams, maybe." You see his shadow drawing closer through the bathroom's illuminated light onto the shower curtain. He runs his fingers along the material, breathing in the scent of your body wash.

"I feed on fear, my love. You're gonna have to do better at masking it if you want to fool me."

God, is he for real? All you want to do is finish your goddamn shower and be done with the exhausting day.

"You know, I can see why stiles is into you." Oh, and now he's trying to rile you up. Great. Your silence is enough of an answer for him. "Oh, I see. You didn't know."

"Can you fuck off and let me have my shower?" you interrupt, curling your fingers into the palm of your hands.

His fingers stop running along the curtain, lingering for a moment before backing away. "You know, I really have to hand it to you. If it weren't for Stiles being the pathetic weak link of the group, I'd certainly love to see what it would like to be you for a day. I mean, come on, it must be so exhausting, carrying the group on your back. The weight of responsibilities, seeing nearly everyone you love die. What a tragic life," Void is ridiculing you at this point. He smirks once more at your silence.

"Well, thanks for sharing; I really appreciate it," the sarcasm is heavy on your tongue. He has to admit; he quite likes this side of you. He knows he can get under your skin - just as much as he reached under Stiles's. His lips twitch into a jagged grin, tapping lightly on the curtain.

"I'll be back sooner than later. But, I'm sure you already knew that."

Heather Says: Deadpool is one of those fandoms that I'm technically a part of because I like it and I think Spiderman and Deadpool is both hilarious and hot, but it's always just on the edge of my peripherals. But sometimes Steve's fic just kind of creeps on me and demands my attention. This was my feel good fic this spring.

4. By the Laws of Magic by Lenore | The Sandman | Dream/Hob | 32k

It’s 1959, and Hob Gadling is working at a London auction house, amazing his colleagues with his uncanny knowledge of art and artifacts from the 14th century on. When he gets the assignment to catalogue a family library at a place called Fawney Rig, he looks forward to a working vacation in the country. What he finds is a house with a preternatural chill where odd disturbances happen daily, an ornate carved door with a secret clearly hidden behind it, and visions of his mysterious stranger every time he turns around. Heather Says: I honestly love this ship. The fairy tale elements combined with the very compelling idea that in another universe much like this one, Hob Gadling ends up saving Dream from his glass prison made for some truly great fiction.

5. Dawnshot Through the Heart by @sirnotappearinginthisblog | Wax&Wayne series | Wax/Wayne | WIP | 80k

Ten years ago, Wayne fled instead of letting himself get arrested for murder. He’s been an outlaw ever since, keeping one step ahead of the lawkeepers who want him dead or alive—especially Dawnshot. But his luck was bound to run out eventually, and he knows how it always ends for the Bad Guys in stories. Heather Says: I think that this is the only WIP on here but I cannot rightfully leave it off because I LOVED this fic this year. I love the Mistborn series, but I've never really sought out fic for it before. This one though, this one found me. The writing is SUPERB and I wish it was a bigger fandom because it deserves so much love, you guys. It's so so so good. I love Wax and Wayne's dynamic in the series. They're great. But also- what if they had an enemies to lovers thing going on that turned poly? WHAT IF?!

Steve just wanted to do something nice for a friend, he doesn't mean to get Eddie's ring stuck on his finger, and it's definitely not his fault that everyone he knows is jumping to conclusions. Heather Says: This is not the last time that you will see this author or this ship on this list. I really would have thought that Steddie would have crept out of my brain right now, but NOPE. And part of that is because every couple weeks entanglednow drops an absolute BANGER of a fic that obliterates my brain for anything else.

God makes a wish. His parents work some things out. Heather Says: I got very close to leaving this one off the list, not because it wasn't good or that it wasn't one of my top 25 but purely because I've been out of the Supernatural fandom for so many years. I mean, c'mon. I didn't watch the last FIVE seasons. However, getting to follow along wildehacked's rewatch journey on twitter was a blast from the past and then THIS lovely shining fic that they churned out lured me back in for one last nibble at this ship that took over my life for the better part of a decade. It is so incredibly amazing and since I never finished the series, I will happily go on pretending that this is how it ended.

She has no throne. Girls without thrones should not have knights, but hers won’t go. Princess Zelda – the girl who killed Calamity – would love to fade into legend, but Link’s bought a house, he’s fighting off monsters, and he’s selling giant horses to strangely familiar Gerudo men. She'll never have any peace now. Heather Says: This fic. THIS FIC. Is so richly built. Is so intoxicating. It leans into found family. You spend chapter after chapter watching Zelda and Link traverse Hyrule with the hot Gerudo that they met along the way after the events of the first game. And it is so fucking compelling. Honestly, while I'm happy that they smooched, I would have been completely fine reading another 100k of just these three wandering Hyrule together, being absolute goblins. 10 out 10, will read again.

9. one hundred years past by tciddaemina | BotW/TotK | Ganondorf/Link | 38k

Link wakes up a century early. It changes everything. Heather Says: Can you tell that playing Tears of the Kingdom left me desperately thirsty for any and all Ganondorf content this summer? I'm a sucker for all sides of the poly triforce but I'll admit that Ganondorf and Link scratches that enemies to lovers itch PERFECTLY if it's done well. And this one is done well.

10. Step Right Up by entanglednow | Stranger Things | Steve/Eddie | 3k

Steve had mostly given up on trying to meet anyone new after everything, but it's been six months and his friends had started giving him pointed nudges to get out there again. Heather Says: Told you it wouldn't be the last you saw of entanglednow. I actually think that this might be my favorite fic that they've written? Which is saying a lot because I will scream it to the rafters that any Steddie fan should read their fic. But this is FUN HOUSE MIRROR MAZE and MISTAKEN IDENTITY KISSING. Guys, I have no chill about this fic. I have no chill about Steve's hands in Eddie's hair, or the sounds that he makes, or the smell of strawberry. It is just so so good.

Sixteen years after the world didn't end for the last time, Max Mayfield showed up on Steve’s doorstep and said, “You gonna walk me down the aisle in May or what?” Or, it’s 2002 and Steve Harrington attends a wedding, a funeral, and a birth. Heather Says: I genuinely do not think that I have words for this one. It is one of those all encompassing fics that sucks you in and just won't spit you out again. It hurts, an ache just under the breastbone. But god, it's so beautiful.

Stiles starts fighting in college. He doesn't tell anyone. Heather Says: There are three...? Yeah, three Teen Wolf fics on this list. Three. Like it's 2015 again. Like my brain broke and time went ticking all the way back to when I was ridiculously invested in these characters. But honestly? All three Teen Wolf fics on this list are incredibly therapeutic. They get to be the ending for me instead of whatever clusterfuck good ole Jeff tried to pull. This one in particular is fantastic because it's canon-divergence after SEASON one. Yes, we have Erica and Boyd. Yes, Stiles is BAMF. It's a good read.

“Can’t believe a pretty thing like you has to come begging to the Red Hood,” he says against Tim’s neck. “Thought they’d be lining up down the block for you. Thought Daddy would need to get the shotgun.” Heather Says: Oh look, another ship and fandom that I was only peripherally aware of that had me in a chokehold for a good month and a half. I don't even like DC that much.

Astarion fast-talks an abnormal number of enemies into killing themselves in the shadow-cursed lands and the team makes idle (then less idle) conversation about it. Heather Says: Okay, so I STILL have not finished this game. I have however very carefully consumed as much content as I can get my hands on without being completely and totally spoiled. This was the first fic that I really loved in this fandom. It's no surprise that I ship Astarion happily with everyone, but damn is he good with Karlach in this one. Their characterization is perfect.

15. A Sign of The Morning by ToEdenandBackAgain | Stranger Things | Eddie/Steve | 86k

Vecna is dead. The Upside Down is cut off from Hawkins yet again. Steve is trying to go back to normal, whatever that is. He's also trying to figure out exactly how Eddie Munson has managed to fit so easily into his life. Heather Says: Honestly? What can I say about this one? It has 19,000 kudos despite being published last June. It's on a ridiculous number of collection/rec lists. The tension is exquisite. The found family? Even better.

16. Phantom of Truth by Haiju | Danny Phantom | Maddie Fenton & Danny Fenton | 58k

Locked away in a secret government lab with Phantom as her sole object of study, nothing stands between Maddie and the truth... except, perhaps, herself. Heather Says: Oh look, another fandom that I have never ever been a part of. I saw this REALLY NEAT and angsty tiktok (tw for ghosty gore) and basically immediately was sucked into a show that I've never even watched before. The comments lead me to this fic which is perfectly gen, angsty, and honestly absolutely perfect. I cannot get over how much I loved this.

17. Manacled by senlinyu | Harry Potter | Draco/Hermione | 370k

Harry Potter is dead. In the aftermath of the war, in order to strengthen the might of the magical world, Voldemort enacts a repopulation effort. Heather Says: I did the thing. I read the incredibly dark fic that I've been avoiding since 2018. I typically steer-clear of anything that is overly bleak and I do not tiptoe into non-con waters often. But one of our groomsmen who isn't even involved with fandom read this so that his girlfriend would watch Star Wars with him and then spent a good portion of a Halloween party talking it up. So I gave it a shot. Over all, it is too bleak for me. That said, I finished it in a weekend. I loved it. I hated it. I wish I'd broken it up over a longer period of time because the emotional bleed off of it was intense.

18. Ready for Love by @idiopathicsmile | Singin in the Rain | Cosmo/Kathy/Don | 12k

Don and Kathy would move in together. They would have a dog or two and then inevitably, a small parade of adorable little brats who would call him Uncle Cosmo, and they would spend less and less time with him, not on purpose but busy with the rest of their lives, and ultimately Cosmo would learn to make his peace with it because he’d have no other choice and he would have to try to move on and not live too much in his memories. He could picture it so clearly, he figured if the songwriting gig with Monumental didn’t pan out, he could always return to the backwater circuit with a new act: The Amazing Cosmo of the Cosmos—ladies and gentlemen, he sees the future, he reads the stars, he silently pines for his best married pal and all the while tap dancing! Don and Kathy inviting him along on their honeymoon, though—that part was a surprise. Heather Says: I LOVE this movie. It is one of my biggest comfort movies. I watch it to feel happy. I watch it when I'm sad. And I have always shipped these three but NEVER read fic for it. And honestly? I'm glad I waited for a good fic to find me because this one was perfect.

Steve wanted to be a dad more than anything. Unfortunately, he was a single dude in his thirties which meant no adoption agency in the world was willing to give him a chance. Or at least no human adoption agency. Heather Says: Honestly just a delightful little jaunt in a world where Steve wants to be a dad, Eddie is a very overprotective siren, and the kids are, well. Little horrors. I love it. There's a sequel now which I am very patiently waiting to read it until I am less busy in RL.

Arthur is married to Eames for the better part of a decade. Then he wakes up. Heather Says: This fic left me ACHING for the Inception fandom circa 2010-2012. When livejournal was still a thing and the fandom community was alive and thriving. It is so achingly tender and perfect. I had forgotten how much I loved them.

Ten years on, in a town in Nova Scotia, on the edge of the Atlantic, Eddie finds Steve again, and also maybe himself. Heather Says: Maybe that's my thing this year. Achingly sweet tender pieces that leave you reeling in the aftermath. This fic is SO incredibly beautiful.

22. What Made Milwaukee Famous by synthetica | Danny Phantom | Vlad/Danny | 30k

Ten years after establishing a tenuous truce, Danny crash-lands at Vlad's Milwaukee lakehouse with a particularly nasty wound, three days recovery time, and absolutely nothing to do but talk to his long-lost archnemesis. Heather Says: I'm told that this is something of a rarepair. However, from the limited information that I have from the series I can say with full certainty that two ghostly beings locked for years as enemies growing up and meeting in the middle? Fully my thing.

23. then now and always by @raisesomehale | Teen Wolf | Derek/Stiles | 13k

Stiles is stuck. Stiles is stuck in the fucking snow in the middle of bum-fuck-nowhere at night with a broken down car three days before Christmas, and the nearest tow truck company—over fifty miles away—doesn’t open until morning. Heather Says: And here we have the promised third Teen Wolf fic, the most cathartic of the bunch. I am so so sweet on future fic particularly in this fandom with missed chances. And this one is just so syrupy sweet. It's winter! There's horses! Derek's an alpha! They smooch. Anyway, this is how I cope with a series finale that didn't happen and a movie that doesn't exist.

Anyway, I know I'm not supposed to have number one favorites. This list exists because I cannot condense it further than 25. But guys, this was my favorite fic this year.

@ everyone who is mad that sterek was hinted, but not canon…

as a sterek fan and avid sterek fic writer, i can full-heartedly say that i did not want them to become canon even 1%. i’m so very sure that it would kill the fire our fandom has been fanning all this time. you see, this fandom has a lot of love for sterek—and love can drive you to write…sometimes. it does not light the fires necessary to fuel our fic writers to crank out thousands of words of AU and fix-its and missed scenes, etc.

you know what does keep that fire going? the urge to write their story better, see them together, to let them live the life they deserve. if that urge was removed by sterek becoming canon, there would be so much less of a drive for many fic writers to continue with the passion they do. i’ve seen it in other fandoms, and felt it for myself. with the amount of sterek shit i’ve got going on on my ao3, i was so relieved when they didn’t become canon. jeff placed some little things like the jeep and the complicated feelings and eli being very stiles-esque—and i loved that. yes, please, throw some more wood pieces into the fires of me and my fellow fic writers’ passions so we can build a much better story!!

i would rather read a thousand fanfics that try to fix the ending, than watch whatever jeff would’ve been able to do.

Characters talking about Derek

What I mean by this is when sometimes, throughout the show, someone said something almost unnotible or that almost no one would really give much tought about Derek, but nothing rude or bad, just some 'complimentes' you might say.

Satomi

Like in 4x7, during the virus outbreak and Satomi is in the hospital with Derek, Deaton and Melissa.

Sorry, I just noticed how much you remind me of Talia

She said this while looking at Derek, and he looked down for a second.

Maybe she saw something in him, not only the resemblances with his mother, maybe she saw Talia's morals and values is Derek before he did himself or anyone else. Maybe she meant Derek could be like his mother: someone you can got for advice and guidance, someone you can rely onto but that will hold you accountable.

And maybe Derek looked down cause he would never think of himself that way, he would never see how much of his mother he has inherited (and not his beauty or stuff like that) and how much potential he's holding within himself, but Satomi sees it and can't help but smile and be a bit sad. Smile because there'll be someone like Talia - guidance, relyable, strong and respected - and sad cause Talia isn't there anymore and because Derek never really got the change to learn a lot from her.

Yet Satomi complimented him kindly, hoping he would eventually be somehow like his mother.

Chris

In season 6B, when he's asked if he 'believes in werewolves' as if they are legends, he says this:

I believe in Derek Hale

which might just be a way to reintroduce his character in the show, but let's give it some depth.

Chris have seen Derek go from 'bad' to good guy, and he also knows (if I remeber correctly) that Derek 'goes around bringing justice' - let's put it like that.

Chris is not a man to believe in legends and superstitions, that's why he believes in Derek. He's very much real and maybe to Chris, Derek is someone who knows justice (and before anyone says something, everyone has different views of it, I know) and who actually does something to ensure it in the world, even if just in a small part of it.

Derek gives his life at risk to ensure other's justice and put himself up as a jury and decides the verdict. And maybe Chris sees in this someone worth believing in, deserving to be believed and not as a legend, but as someone who does something.

Noah

Of course I have to put what the sheriff says about Derek in the movie.

I have never seen anyone take the kind of punishment that Derek Hale took… And kept taking… In order to protect the people he loved.

Maybe Noah sees half of what Chris sees but also someone who knows love and sacrifice, not only justice and maybe even revenge.

To the sheriff, Derek is someone willing to risk his life endlessly to save those he loves, arriving to the point that he completely sacrifice himself and dies.

He loves his people, he does it with his whole heart and Noah knows it, he knows Derek Hale, who lost everything time and time again, would give up his life and did it to save other people, leaving his son behind to save him (along with others too).

Noah knows Derek's heart, how resilient it is and how much love it holds.

Stiles

So, Stiles had not really 'complimented' Derek, he was more 'protective' of him.

Stiles freezes for a second, he did give Derek the benefit of the doubt and he had to fight to prove he wasn't the bad guy, he never really saw Derek as someone 'completely evil'.

To Stiles, Derek is just another person who went through shit and had to deal with it on his own, he knows Derek isn't evil, he knows it by heart cause he trusts him with proof, Derek's worthy of trust to Stiles' eyes while Scott gives his trust to everyone regardless of them deserving it.

"Did Scott try to kill you on the full moon? Did you have to lock him up?" "I did handcuff him to a radiator, why? Would you prefer I locked him in the basement and burned the whole house down around him?" Chris & Stiles

Stiles stands by Derek's side and doesn't accept the hunter's way of handling things - even if isn't aware that Chris didn't do it - and say it straight in his face. Stiles sees the cruelty Derek had to endure, not simply cause he lost his family, but also because the hunters trapped them and burned them alive.

Stiles doesn't agree with such cruelty and anger, he understands Derek somehow, they both lost some family memebers and since the whole Hale family's death wasn't necessary to Stiles' eyes, he's angry for Derek.

Also, even if in this Stiles didn't say anything, he did something very meaningful:

He didn't have to say anything, while everyone went to Boyd's body, he went to Derek. He knew Derek didn't want to do that and felt guilty for his death despite he was forced to do it. Stiles choose Derek.

Stiles saw Boyd's body and Derek staying still, and decided to comfort Derek, standing by his side and 'grounding' him.

But then we also have when Stiles' jeep broke down in Mexico.

BRAEDEN: Scott, we need to get there by night. It's too dangerous, otherwise. STILES: Go. SCOTT: Not without you! STILES: Dude, someone needs to find Derek. We'll figure something out. We always do. STILES: Just go.

What I want to say here is that Stiles won't give up on Derek nor the jeep and he risk it all for both, somehow he does while caring for Derek, pushing the others to go and find him before it's too late.

So, at the end, what I want to say is:

All these characters talked of Derek as someone worthy of trust, who know justice, love and sacrifice, someone not everyone understand but that those who does knows he's a good person despite everything that happened to him. Because think about it, after all this man went through, he was still kind and still cared for others - in his own way.

(and before someone might think 'you are saying so much about Stiles because you ship Sterek or anything similiar. Yes, I'm a sterek shipper, but right now I'm not asking you to see Sterek in this, I'm asking you to read this objectivly, cause I believe you don't have to ship Sterek to see how Stiles and Derek both cared for each other and how Stiles was probably the one who risked the most to protect/save Derek whenever it was needed and how Derek did the same)

This is my personal opinion (which doesn't directly attaches to Teen Wolf, but I think it fits and could be helpful).

Many people don't talk enough about the people they find... good.

When you see somehow doing the right thing, maybe help along and share how good it is to see somehow still being kind in a world that, if you look closely, it's very cruel for no reason.

Whe you think someone is a good person, please tell them. Please. they might think they aren't cause they made a mistake you aren't even aware of but maybe your little 'ehi, you're a good one' could bright their day and make them more confident and overall, you both would be better persons.

Please, be kind reasonless.

Tell that person you agree with them, tell them you like their dress or makeup, tell them you think their opinion is good and maybe even have a conversation about it, just strangers talking (but still, be careful).

We underestimate the power of words when it comes to love, kindness, respect... we think of 'powerful words' when we think something bad, that why sometimes we think 'that's such a bad thing to think/say'. But whenever it's something lovely or kind, that could bust up someone's day, confidence, self-respect and self-love, we stay quiet, we don't even think of saying it most of the time.

So, please, BE KIND REASONLESS AND REGARDLESS. BE KIND JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN.

I could go on here and say my problems with st*rek lie in the lack of scenes together or the fact that their canon dynamic was more comedic/antagonistic than romantic, but honestly that’s not even it. Idc when ppl ship characters that didn’t have great chemistry, didn’t get along, didn’t even MEET in canon! idc! What I do care about is:

1) Pedophilia. Stiles is a teenager, Derek’s a grown man. I’ve seen debates about derek’s exact age but tbh whether he’s 22 or 26 or 30 doesn’t change the fact that he’s way too old to date a high school sophomore. Period.

2) Stealing Scott’s personality. All the st*rek fics are chock full of Stiles being the nurturing “Pack Mom” while Derek plays Dad when Stiles is unforgiving, caustic, and sharp-tongued 90% of the time. It’s Scott who takes in strays and treats everyone around him with utmost kindness right up until they prove they don’t deserve it. Even then, he still sometimes forgives.

3) St*rek’s prevalence. Okay, so we’ve come up with a crack ship that doesn’t have much basis in canon! Great! Why is it suddenly THE MOST POPULAR SHIP IN THE FANDOM BY A FUCKING MILE? I can’t go anywhere in any teen wolf fandom spaces without the goddamn st*rek jumpscaring me. For reference, St*rek outclasses the second most popular ship on ao3 (which happens to be Steter for some fuckin’ reason) by MORE THAN 7X!

4) The delusion. I’ve seen lots of ships like Malia and Isaac where the shipping is a little…tongue in cheek. The shippers are self-aware, they know there isn’t much canon basis, but they’ve decided to go ahead anyways because this is fiction and it’s fun and it hurts nobody. I’ve seen ships like Scissac or Malira where the shippers are more delulu (admittedly me, lol) yet there’s a decent canon basis to those relationships that make the hc shipping more understandable… but I have never (and I mean NEVER) witnessed such widespread CONVICTION about such a canonically weak ship. Never in my life in any other fandom (besides maybe the rpf weirdos) have I seen SO many people who are SO INVESTED in a ship with such little foundation, while not one of them is self aware enough to look around and admit that it’s really just a crackship!

LYDIA AND STILES

Not a shocker, their love is cosmic.

Lydia's relationship with Jackson was obviously NEVER going to last and was incredibly toxic for the both of them and I'm not going to count them as even a contender because I want them both to be happy. They did love each other and it was a huge thing for them to break it off after so long though.

Stiles relationship with Malia is a little more tricky because they were each other's first love and he was her anchor. They worked perfectly as a team even if together they were a little ruthless. But at least for Stiles, you always got the feeling he knew it was going to end. He loved her but when it came down to it, she was never his first choice. Which is something NOBODY, least of ALL Malia deserves in any relationship. Their lack of trust and lack of communication eventually tore them apart and it wasn't her fault but it was meant to lead to something better for them both.

Lydia's relationship with Aidan was shallow at best, and at worst it was simply them using each other.

Lydia's relationship with Parrish was -I feel like- not good, not the vibe at all, and not worth mentioning. If you love them together I'm so sorry this is not a personal attack.

STEREK. I am so sorry Sterek stans. Even if they were closer in age than Jeff wants us to think now when they first met, and even if he gave them a literally love child in Teen Wolf: T*e M***e, nothing about their relationship was even remotely healthy or an okay way to treat someone at the peak of their chemistry in the show. Towards the back half of the show their relationship cooled down more and they have what I think is a really beautiful friendship, but romantically they aren't well matched to last like that.

Lydia and Stiles have such a lovely relationship because they've been there with each other since the beginning. Stiles went from puppy love, to genuine respect and admiration, to faith and devotion, to being all in. Lydia went from cold and hardhearted, to caring and aware, to sincere affection, to absolute love and awe. Even at the very beginning, Stiles was the only one who saw through her bullshit facade and convinced her that the best version of herself was the one she was hiding. They both push each other to be the best versions of themselves, centering each other when things get tough and restoring faith in themselves.

Even though they're only actual lovers for less than half a season with about two minutes of screen time they've been lovers tHiS wHoLe TiMe. I'm a sucker for a good slowburn. He would go to any lengths to protect her, including sacrificing himself in the process. He understands her in a way nobody else does, and knows what he needs to do to bring her back when she's spiraling. She never lets him give up on himself and refuses to give up on him even when she's the only one who even thinks he exists. She stayed by his side and refused to let him go or let him panic. She grounds him. She's logical when he's irrational. He's firm when she's emotional. They're intellectually matched and understand each other even in complex problems that nobody else is putting together

They were (partially) unwilling dance partners. They were hesitant friends. They were partners in crime. They were detectives. They were trying to keep their friends alive. They were awkwardly kissing in a boys locker room. They were emotional tethers. They had sole faith in each other. They were the only reason the other was alive. They were a power duo. They were the smartest people you know. They were going to get back to each other. They were lovers. (They were breaking up because Lydia had a dream that Stiles died in a car accident???????????????)

They essentially have a cosmic love that transcends reality, which incidentally, I am also a sucker for. When he was entirely erased from every single person's life, she still remembered him enough to be committed to getting him back even if everyone around her thought she had lost it. And she eventually brought him back from a place nobody had come back from before. How could it be anybody but them.

Feelings revealed: Peter Hale x reader

Peter overhears that you admit you love him

Okay so my crush on this man started when I was like 13-14 has only gotten stronger 'cause of the movie, so thought i'd write something about him.

Warnings: the pack being mean to Peter behind his back, swearing.

Peter deserved better. There, I said it. I know he’s done stuff and is viewed as ‘evil’ but I genuinely don’t think he is. Probably gonna get hate for that but I believe he isn’t, and he did become a good person.

Also Peter is a bit ooc but meh

When did you fall for Peter? That's the question that you ask yourself everyday. When did you fall for him?

Was it when he had healed you for the first time, despite making it clear he didn't like you, at the time.

Was it when he had protected you when Hunter's were trying to kill you?

Or was it when he'd saved your life the first time out of many.

The room is full of quiet chatter and glances when you enter.

"Did we start the meeting already?"

...silence.

You pause, and tilt your head.

"Everything...alright?"

Though it's clearly not. So they're hiding something...but why?

"(y/n)."

Scott begins, standing up. He leans back against the table, trying to form words. If you could hear his heart right now.

As one of the only non-wolves in the groups you aren't able to hear people's hearts so you can't tell when they're lying. It's hard most- a lot of the time- but it honestly doesn't bother you.

"...It's..."

"It's Peter."

Lydia finishes his sentence, one hand on her hip.

"...we need to talk to you about him..."

A nervous look flicks onto your features. Why would they need to talk to you about him? Has something happened to him? He would have told you, you practically talk everyday. It's obviously not good, based on how they looked when you'd entered.

"What...about him?"

It's Derek, who answers you next. His arms crossed, as they usually are. He looks troubled...but for who? For himself, for Peter?

"..we need you to cut contact with him..."

There it is. There's the catch to this conversation. Of course you were stupid for thinking it would have been something different.

"What?"

"It's dangerous for you to be his friend..."

Rolling your eyes, you scoff.

"...it's also dangerous to be in beacon hills, but none of us have left."

"...(y/n)..."

Scott remarks.

"If you were friends with anyone else, that would be fine, but it's..."

"Peter Hale.". Stiles adds in, pointing his finger. "...and we haven't had the best history with him."

They have always had a problem with Peter.

Even when he's helped. Yes he’s done stuff in the past, and yes understandable they don’t trust him, but that was the past. He's changed. Why can't they at least give him a chance? ‘Cause everything he’s done has mainly been for his family

"...yeah..." you reply, pointing at each of them. "Yours. Your history with him, not mine"

Beginning to grow frustrated as every second passes.

"...I'm not going to just cut contact with him because you tell me to-"

"But he's evil.". Stiles raises an eyebrow, trying to point out the facts when they're not true.

"He's not evil...he’s done some things but he’s not evil.”

Closing a fist to fight back from punching something, you avert your eyes away from Stiles. Avert from everyone. They're your family, and families fight. The other's share glances trying to find a way to make what they want to happen, happen.

Next, Derek steps forward again.

"Please, (y/n). Just..."

"No..."

now, as you stare at him, a flicker of anger shows in your eyes.

"...I'm not going to, and if that's all you wanted me here for, then i'm leaving..."

a beat. a beat of silence follows, solidifying your point.

"Fine, i'm leaving..."

Turning on your heel you begin to leave, ignoring the looks. Before yoou can disapper, though, Stiles says something else.

"..Why do you care about Peter so much?"

Theres so many reasons why, but the main reason is what you admit. What you hadn't been meaning to, but now with your emotions everywhere you can't help to.

Walking over to the door, you stop. Not looking back, only looking forward.

"...because I love him."

Pushing the door open, leaving them exchanging surprised glances.

The door closes behind you. Running a hand over your face, like before, you walk through the hallway. Coming around the corner a few seconds later, walking straight into something- correction- someone- when you do.

It's not anyone from back there, it's actually who you hadn't been meaning to run into quite so soon. Without even looking up at the person you just know.

"...Peter..."

looking up, eyes meeting his. He looks...surprised, which means..

"You heard me...?"

He nods, but his expression is different. Different than it usually is. He's not wearing a smirk, or wanting to say something like a joke, his expression is one of surprise- of confusion- but mostly happiness.

Why? because he never thought you would feel this way, and, judging by your heart, you weren't lying.

So he begins to say something, but you catch him off guard by leaning your head against his chest.

"...i'm sorry, Peter. You didn't deserve to hear what they said..."

Snapping out of his initial shock, he slowly wraps an arm around you, letting you get more comfortable in his hold.

"It's okay, sweetheart. I'm used to it..."

"You shouldn't have to be Pete."

and, you're right, but you're the only one who thinks that. Peter sighs.

"...do you want to get out of here…?”

Pulling away from Peter, you look up at him.

"...please.”

They'd probably try and convince you, again, but you can't listen to them right now.

"...let's go..."

He presses a soft kiss to your head, lingering a moment. Then the two of you leave. When you get into his car, you're on the road soon enough.

Head resting against the window, you look out at the road trying to forget what had just happened. Before you reach where he's staying, Peter glances over at you. Heart-beat slowed back down, to a more even rate.

"...I...love you too, you know."

He notices how your heart-rate picks up, but then falls back to normal. Smitten: that's what you are. You're smitten with him. You look over at Peter with a smile, with such love in your eyes. Never has he made you feel the way anyone else, not that you're complaining,

After a moment you look out the window again, but this time you're unable to stop smiling.
