Remus Crowley has fallen victim to a legion of demons, his body and soul now possessed. Though all six residents of the lonely household on Lorre way are well practiced in occult magics, only Patton Stoker had experience with exorcisms. It’s such a shame that past experience had all but destroyed his belief that he can help.
Here it is folks! My story that I've written for @sandersidesbigbang!

Reminder: The Oldest Instances of Pluralphobia in the World Are Against Spiritual Plurals
Multiplicity is as a old as human history. In most cultures around the world, it's been perceived as entirely spiritual, and has been treated accordingly. In some cultures, this plurality is seen as positive things.
Others have mixes of good and evil spirits.
And some have purely bad spirits that need to eradicated.
Many cultures have a long history of conducting exorcisms on those perceived to be possessed by spirits. You can still hear stories today of people being tortured to death in these rituals because they have experiences that resemble spiritual plurality.
And while it's easy to try to claim that this is misdirected "ableism," the reality appears to be the opposite.
Pluralphobia existed first. People hated and feared plurals or those who appear to be too close to plural not because DID is a mental illness and they hate mentally ill people, but because singlets are afraid of the very concept of multiple entities sharing a body. Whether psychological or spiritual.
DID systems exist at an intersection of experiencing both ableism and pluralphobia. And yes, some forms of sanism and ableism is directed at endogenic systems because of associations with mental illnesses. (Dissociative disorders, yes, but also Schizophrenia and similar disorders.)
But the pluralphobia of exorcisms, of people believed to be sharing their bodies with spirits being subjected to torture and killed, that began long before multiple personalities was seen as a mental disorder. It is not merely ableism against those perceived to be disabled but a deeper fear of plurality itself.

Okay y'all I have a question
There's a woman who's a consecrated virgin that performs exorcisms and is moving to my area and becoming a member of my parish. From what I understand, only some priests can perform exorcisms, right? And if that's true, then is she in the wrong for performing exorcisms, or is there a way that people other than priests can get the Church's permission to exorcise demons that I just don't know about?

The Telegraph | 'God told us to exorcise my daughter's demons. I don't regret her death'
Tumblr media
By Elizabeth Day
27 November 2005 • 12:01am
[...] From the very beginning, Anneliese's life was governed by fear. Her family was deeply religious. Her father had considered training as a priest and three of her aunts were nuns. But the Michels had a secret. In 1948, Anneliese's mother gave birth to an illegitimate daughter, Martha, bringing such disgrace on her family that she was forced to wear a black veil on her wedding day. When Anneliese was born in 1952, her mother encouraged her to atone for the sins of illegitimacy through fervent devotion. But when Martha was eight, she died from complications arising from an operation to remove a kidney tumour. Anneliese, a kind-hearted and deeply sensitive girl, must have felt ever more strongly the pressure to do penance for her mother.
Tumblr media
She found herself increasingly surrounded by evidence of sinfulness and increasingly anxious to be rid of it. While other children in the 1960s were rebelling testing the limits of their freedom, Anneliese slept on a bare stone floor to atone for the sins of the drug addicts who slept rough at the local train station. In 1968, aged 17, she began to suffer convulsions. Although initially diagnosed with grand mal epilepsy, she started experiencing devilish hallucinations while praying. By 1973, she was suffering severe depression and considering suicide. Voices in her head told her she was damned. She asked the local priest for exorcism and was twice refused. But gradually, Anneliese slipped further into the abyss. She would perform 600 genuflections a day, eventually rupturing her knee ligaments. [...] In 1975, her third request for exorcism was granted by the Bishop of Wurzburg. "I don't regret it," says Anna Michel firmly. "There was no other way." We shall never know if there was. By this stage, Anneliese had refused further medical intervention from the Psychiatric Clinic Wurzburg. Her symptoms have subsequently been compared to schizophrenia and should have responded to treatment. There has also been speculation that Anneliese might have been influenced by the release of William Friedkin's The Exorcist, in 1973. But whatever lay behind her disturbance, the exorcism could have caused Anneliese to believe her own hallucinations. [...] Her parents buried her next to Martha at the outer edges of the cemetery - ground normally reserved for illegitimate children and suicides. Even in death, Anneliese was not free of the sinfulness she fought so hard to repent of.

Today, the 2000 inhabitants of Klingenberg are unwilling to speak of Anneliese Michel. A gentle enquiry to passers-by is greeted with hostile glares and a shake of the head. "The town is ashamed," says Christiana Metzler, 42, who works in the tourist office. "I was at school when it happened and there were a lot of things covered up. People don't want to talk about it. There is a feeling that it was the parents' fault because they were so religious they didn't see what was happening. Sometimes Catholic pilgrims come to her grave because they think she can save lost souls. But there are not many of them. Now there is this film coming out, we are worried it will all be stirred up again." It is a past that the Church is ashamed of, too. In 1984, German bishops petitioned Rome to review the exorcism rite in the light of the Michel case. Although their recommendations were not adopted, the Vatican published a revised exorcism rite in 1999 - the first update since the 17th century - and has introduced a qualification in exorcism that maks priests undergo medical training. "I wouldn't have carried out the exorcism [on Anneliese Michel]," admits Fr Dieter Feineis, the current priest at St Pankratius Church in Klingenberg. "But both Anna Michel and her husband remained absolutely convinced that what they had done was right. The view of the Church is that it is possible to be possessed, but in Germany there are no more exorcisms." In Italy, however, it is a different matter. According to the Italian Association of Psychiatrists and Psychologists, half a million Italians seek exorcisms each year. There are about 350 practising exorcists worldwide. Earlier this year, a priest and several nuns in a Romanian Orthodox convent in Tanacu believed that Maricia Irina Cornici, a 23-year-old nun, was possessed. They carried out an exorcism ritual and tied her to a cross, pushing a towel in her mouth and denying her food or water, She was dead three days later. [...]

As someone who has epilepsy, and is a none Christian. I really hate films about exorcisms, but every so often I get tricked into watching one.
There's something extremely uncomfortable about watching the "possessed person" who actually is just having epileptic symptoms, being subject to abuse, and people telling Christian verses at them. Even the yelling and swearing is a symptom for certain types of epilepsy.
I hate them even more when the films narrative is look how right this abusive, ablist as fuck preist is. If the person dies, then their soul is saved at least BS.
Then there's the whole, some countries do this to actual disabled people, and not give people with epilepsy life saving medication.
Like why do writers still churn out this shit, and don't even use an ounce of creativity to question the issues with this? Or logical reasons to what a possession could actually be? Or what the preist is doing is fucked up, and not those mean, mean evil scientist and none believers stopping them from doing their job. Like seriously????
I know epilepsy isn't the only condition people will preform an exorcism on, but it's the one I spot because it's a lot more personal to me. I think it is pretty horrific actually.

Hellebore
Scatter powdered hellebore around before you move to make yourself invisible.
Used in exorcisms.
Used to induce astral projection.
It has since been deemed too poisonous to use.

[Thanks Darrell Grizzle]
* * * *
When I was young, exorcisms were quite common, a remedy not unlike ice baths. Plus, devils were shorter in those days just as people were. They hadn't eaten enough fruits or vegetables, and lacked essential vitamins and iron, grew thin and pale, fell easily into brooding depressions. They looked more like deer than sheep, and when they possessed you it was usually because they were fleeing from someone else and didn't realize where they were until it was too late. It was more a question of giving directions than driving them out. "Turn right at the hairdresser's, go straight until you get to the abandoned schoolhouse, then turn left. You should see the exit from there." "Thank you. I was completely lost." "You're welcome. Good luck." "You too, and thanks again."

Beyond the Veil: Exploring the World of Ghost Exorcism
The capacity of spirit Hunters Corp to execute exorcisms and eliminate the spirit from the map is the primary element that distinguishes the game from other supernatural investigation games. A ghost exorcism may involve a variety of spirit Hunters Corp. actions, such as having the spirit contact with a salty crystal and reciting aloud the contents of an exorcism book. Players will have to conduct some research to ensure they have the ideal mix of actions to permanently banish a ghost because there are so many alternatives.
Using the computer in the rear of the haunting van or their portable tablet, players may enter the evidence they collect in Ghost Hunters Corp. into the Ghostpedia. Players will be able to identify the sort of ghost and determine the necessary actions to destroy it before it kills them by combining certain pieces of information. Following these actions, the ghost ought should eventually depart from the home, estate, or castle, allowing the group to go back to their camp to complete the contract and earn in-game gold and points for an assignment well done. This is how an exorcism is carried out in the Ghost Hunters Corp.
Ghost Corp Exorcist Activities: what do they do for Ghost Exorcism?
The kind of exorcism tasks that players must perform in the Ghost Hunting Corp will depend on the evidence that is obtained throughout a mission. In general, participants will need to use specialized equipment to look for information in five different categories:
Magnetic Area: EMF K2 Sensor
Object Scan: Analyzer of Entities
Temperature: MEL-8G0 scanner or thermometer
Written Proof: Autonomous Composition
Audio Book Proof: Spirit Box
Not all investigations will provide a maximum of five pieces of proof; players will need to locate between two and three pieces of proof in the simpler missions and four to five in the hardest. It is not assured that any given expedition will yield proof. Players should enter whatever evidence they find with their tools into the Ghostpedia on their tablets or desktop computer in the van's rear. To observe the actions required to exorcise the creature, they can press the green button located at the down of their screen.
Using its actions, players might attempt to classify the ghost as a sixth type of evidence. Ghost Hunters Corp now has five different kinds of ghosts: Poltergeist, Demon, Child, Shadow, and Revenant. They will all make an effort to murder every member of their paranormal research team and are aggressively antagonistic toward the player. Players won't want to overlook this category since certain ghost varieties have unique exorcism requirements.
When a player hits or walks into one of these artifacts, the ghost should dissolve into colorful smoke, indicating that their exorcism was successful. The hunting ghost will vanish into white smoke providing a clue if the step was off or if the player was just utilizing one of these things to disperse it.
Ways to achieve Ghost Exorcism in your dwellings
If you experience any spiritual presence inside your house, it's generally more subdued than what Hollywood portrays. Though they also admit that said ghosts are usually harmless and readily expelled, some individuals think that demons and ghosts can inflict disruptions and dread in your house. You have choices if, even a thorough assessment, you're still certain that your home contains undesired psychic or spiritual clutter.
Watch your home for any usual paranormal activity.
Determining if a ghost inhabits your house may be a challenging task due to the diverse views and signals surrounding spirits. The evidence might be contradictory and difficult to interpret. It's crucial to keep in mind that, unlike what Hollywood appears to believe, very few homes are actually possessed, as well as fewer have been visited by "evil" spirits. Watch out for:
Moving or goods that vanish and then return, particularly same or comparable items.
electronics that automatically switch on and off.
Strange sounds or voices, doors and windows slamming and unlocking, and footsteps that are not familiar.
a sensation of never being alone, frequently accompanied with shivers and an unexpected wave of terror or panic.
How can you consult a Exorcist?
Speak with leaders in your spiritual or religious community, or look for psychics or spiritual mediums that can exorcise people. In any practice, the most crucial aspect of an exorcist is a person makes you feel safe and at ease. Resolving conflicts with someone you feel good about is made much easier by that connection and self-assurance. It is crucial to have this trust.
