The practice of giving sedatives to people detained by police has spread quietly across the nation over the last 15 years, built on questionable science and backed by police-aligned experts, an investigation led by The Associated Press has found. Based on thousands of pages of law enforcement and medical records and videos of dozens of incidents, the investigation shows how a strategy intended to reduce violence and save lives has resulted in some avoidable deaths.
At least 94 people died after they were given sedatives and restrained by police from 2012 through 2021, according to findings by the AP in collaboration with FRONTLINE (PBS) and the Howard Centers for Investigative Journalism. That’s nearly 10% of the more than 1,000 deaths identified during the investigation of people subdued by police in ways that are not supposed to be fatal. About half of the 94 who died were Black, including Jackson.

Law enforcement is a dangerous job, however too many individual police officers feel free to assume the role of judge, jury and executioner. When a government official, acting in an official capacity, takes a life when neither themselves or others are directly threatened, whether planned or spontaneous, such action is an extra-judicial execution. Death Penalty Action opposes extra-judicial executions as a form of the death penalty, and it must stop. Extra-judicial executions, carried out in the hands of those sworn to protect, overwhelmingly target the black community and other people of color. Racism is systemic in the United States and pervasive throughout the criminal legal system. Racism is unmistakable in the capital punishment system, rooted in and inextricably linked to the United States’ history of slavery, lynching, and Jim Crow segregation. The undersigned are asking Congress today to enact national legislation that: Bans “chokeholds”
Ends no-knock warrants
Tracks and analyzes data involving law enforcement officer-involved shootings, including data on the race of law enforcement officers and those killed or injured in such shootings
Investigates law enforcement officers with a track record of abusive use of power, including those in corrections
Removes impediments to prosecuting law enforcement officers when there was no legitimate need for the use of lethal violence
No one should have to die because of the color of their skin or where they happen to travel, live, work and/or raise their families. We demand that Congress take action to ensure that these common sense measures are enacted on a national level so that our nation can move toward healing, and closer to the ideal of “Equal Justice Under Law.”

how was blondie a federal prosecutor when she hasn't even developed comprehensive skills yet, for the matter of fact how did she even pass the bar
Bondi was never a federal prosecutor, she was Florida attorney general from 2011 to 2019. and during her time there she was absolutely terrible at her job: (points are taken from wikipedia where there are articles from mainstream media attached to each of these points)
Bondi was the lead attorney general in an unsuccessful lawsuit seeking to overturn the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (known as Obamacare) in Florida et al v. United States Department of Health and Human Services. In the lawsuit the state of Florida and 26 other states argued that the individual mandate provision of the ACA violates the United States Constitution.
In 2018, Bondi joined with 19 other Republican-led states in a lawsuit to overturn the ACA's bans on health insurance companies charging people with pre-existing conditions higher premiums or denying them coverage outright.
Bondi defended Amendment 2, a 2008 amendment to the Florida Constitution banning same-sex marriage, against legal challenges on behalf of the state. Bondi said that these actions did not reflect her opinions on same-sex marriage, but were out of respect for the constitution. Following the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting in June 2016, Bondi was interviewed by CNN reporter Anderson Cooper, who said that Bondi's expression of support for the LGBT community was at odds with her past record. Cooper said that Bondi was "either mistaken or not telling the truth", while Bondi accused Cooper of fomenting "anger and hate".
In August 2018, while still serving as Florida attorney general, Bondi co-hosted The Five on Fox News three days in a row while also appearing on Sean Hannity's Fox News show. Fox News claimed that the Florida Commission on Ethics had approved Bondi's appearance on the program; however, the spokeswoman for the commission denied that, telling the Tampa Bay Times that no decision was made by the commission and that the commission's general counsel did not make a determination whether or not Bondi's appearance as a host violated the Florida Code of Ethics. The Tampa Bay Times described it as "unprecedented" for a sitting elected official to host a TV show.
In nominating her to be U.S. attorney general, Trump said that, as Florida's attorney general, she had "worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs, and reduce the tragedy of Fentanyl Overdose Deaths, which have destroyed many families across our Country", and that she had done "an incredible job". In fact, however, Florida's age-adjusted rate of "deaths from drug poisoning" nearly doubled during her term, from 13.7 per 100,000 residents in 2011 to 25.1 when she left office in 2019.
before that tho, Bondi was assistant state attorney in Hillsborough County, Florida where she couldn't even get a conviction against the defendants in a 14-year old boy's death in a boot camp, where the boy died after admitting he was unable to run but was forced to run nevertheless by the camp counselors and just died all of a sudden trying to follow the counselors' orders. Bondi was prosecuting these camp counselors and couldn't even get a conviction, all of them walked after a ‘not guilty’ verdict from the jury.
about her schooling, Bondi got her law degree from Stetson, which ranks 98th in law school rankings in the US and has a 78% bar pass rate. (in contrast, Harvard law ranks 6th in the law school rankings and has a 99.4% bar pass rate)

payoff of being embedded in a unit of authoritarianism since birth is sure then being able to go like "wow this is just like dynamics & phenomena i experienced up close & personal, repeatedly, in many contexts & configurations in my first two decades of life" plus also beyond that in abuse culture world & the noncoincidence that even interactions beyond the confines of the home(tm) reinforced / did not contradict the hierarchy & concomitant abuse within....but then like hey yeah also the Larger Units of hierarchy & abuse / authoritarianism (ft. their logics & practices necessary for continuously & continually shoring up that hierarchy) can also make it like hey yeah the Two Parent abusive nuclear family more like the Two Party [the US is also a one party state but in typical american extravagance they have two] where right wingness is defined by the degree of directly embracing white supremacy & "left wing" is "anything else" hence like wow The Left is always infighting (everyone with any ideas besides "umm christofascist white ethnostate?" so like yeah there are many other ideas) vs The Right's admirable cohesion (simply re: the white supremacy idea which also necessarily embraces all other Out Group / Nonperson paradigms & practices b/c that's what all already has been necessary for shoring up the [when has the US been a nongenocidal non white supremacist non oligarchy])
like obviously individual experiences & contexts vary but like narrowing in on [the Family as immediate relations ideally cordoned off into nuclear households] ft. [Parental Authority the top priority of which is preserving that authority, ideally patriarchal, an abusive mother e.g.? hey, that ought to be the father] times it's like, think people tend to struggle re: having the "nicer" / "safer" parent who was also shitted on as well but also at the end of the day would always side with the "meaner" "more dangerous" parent, even in whatever terms most sympathetic to the abused parties, with the underlying logic that we're always just going to have to deal with them so some secret strategic mitigation is the best that can be done, perhaps the equivalent of being sent a ":(" after an Onslaught Of Expressed / Enforced Authority(tm) event....the tendency to see the best in any lack of actual intervention / protection on the assumption That Could Never Happen Anyway & forever At Least that the one parent isn't as bad as the other [the Not That Bad / Could've Been Worse infocation, like free bingo square in manifestations of minimization if not outright abuse denial] & all the sympathy for, you know, being human & doing their best(tm) &c which sure might all be true but the abused parties (oft children, more vulnerable than adults, by virtue of being children i.e. considered legal property of some specific adults & theoretical property of any adults in general (the paternal logic in any "protect [xyz]" like maintain one group's supposed ownership / control over [xyz] "for their sake" then? great) & also generally smaller & newer at being alive in this world) but who are liable to not extend that sympathy to themselves (or certainly not be extended that sympathy....when is "they're doing their best / they're only human / they mean well or whatever / they love you, they're family" successfully deployed the Thwart an abusive parent like it is to tell an abused child to not be too resentful of this situation, when is it actually deployed toward the abusive parent at all really. & again in the lack of boundary between the authoritarianism within many individual family households & that of the state they exist in (here re: the US) like that naturally one encounters the logic of abuse expressed just as "common knowledge" & the Assumptions of other people, e.g. the rejection of a parent having zero access to a child, the reinforcement of automatic apologia deployed for whatever a parent could possibly do, argued for "family", yet not deployed the same way to automatically defend anything thee child(tm) could do, thinking emoji lol....see: like the non boundary between [the Patriarchal home/family(tm)] & capitalism when uh oh capitalism the system of continuously maximizing exploitation Needs various forms of labor to be unpaid, uh oh another lack of boundary when white supremacy is used to also shore up the patriarchy that shores up the white supremacy, e.g. that even if in some "inferior" class it's treated as More Important that at least you're not that And black, the theoretical ideal/normal white man is a person while a white woman is a woman while a black woman is black, white women could have any legal property via chattel slavery which needed white women's participation to help enforce, the specter of sexual violence all coming from nonwhite & especially black men & it's up to the genteel white man to Protect Women (see prev, implicitly white or you'd have to specify otherwise)
anyway that is to get around to pointing to the Two Parent System wherein so shockingly the results are the same as the One Parent System re: abuse maintaining The Family (properly, i.e. unquestionable & certainly undeniable parental access to children, & "ideally" ofc again the patriarchal Father as ultimate authority w/ownership over the Mother, who in turn is theoretically honored for that motherhood (at least you own your children, insofar as it doesn't contradict w/what the father wants to do with his superior claim to ownership) & then finally all the obviously shittiness from being in that position in a patriarchy is in turn dumped on The Children who are ungrateful & owe the mother everything Because of what the broader society & immediate personal expressions of that abuse have done to her. see also ofc that two adults likely don't have the resources to raise a child in time or money or energy, maybe there's only one but also even an extended family's worth of adults aren't enough, is it enough when a child is sent to school for some other adults to be in charge most of the day, or even if someone is hired to look after them beyond that, all this ofc with the assumed premise that a child is always limited to the various Domains of The Adults In Charge, & from there i segue into how naturally being in gay baby jail unless & until adults are no longer recognized as Legally In Charge Of You (the grand like 5 minutes it's relatively been since the ideal timeline of a woman's life wasn't being legal property of her father until asap passed along to legal property of her husband. still considered ideal ofc but like with "maybe you can have a bank account" now & "maybe you can become 29 before you're in Old Maid danger" Maybe, i said, Maybe....anyway that obviously adults(tm) being divided up (atomised. spritz) into Households isn't even supposed to be enough to live on their own, re: necessitating Marriage, much less uh oh having kids who are stuck with their parents who are stuck with them, but then all the obvious actual problems & abuses inflicted on Adults to have to have their family households & exploited jobs are dumped on the children who Must appreciate & be loyal to the parents (i.e. never Deny Access) while yknow kids have Fake Problems they're whining about, the one Real Problem of having to pay a bill gets the payoff of leverage to tell your children to shut the fuck up or perhaps the more vulnerable spouse
hm didn't segue right into "so shoutout to like The Ratchet Effect diagrams lol, the "Two" Party System where its supposed left wing Blocks Movement To The Left, right wing Moves Everything To The Right" but even that is like, mm, conferring a passivity to what democrats do in the continual movement to the right (won an election? lost an election? the lesson either way is The Right Is Right; exact same logic as in "winning or losing" "the war on crime" like the collection & analysis of whatever statistics show the trend of some "crime" is increasing in frequency or magnitude? show that it's decreasing? the lesson either way is Cops Need More Power) like the institutional effort of democrats to push a candidate nobody wants through primaries (did we even do that this time around. oh great that the assumed candidate even graciously agreed to not force themself as The Candidate, & now like 5 min left with the Next In Line candidate dumped on everyone now with the lesson for the left(tm) to shut up already lol) & then it's up to Grassroots Voters. it's up to Unity & well we all Need to listen to the white supremacists, points were made, in the "elections" with voting as limited as possible & with the electoral college & supreme court as Safeguards against democracy & here's the senate, eternally thus, & again the conclusions will always manage to be moving To The Right, paraphrasing from twitter like democrats are about to be or already at the point of "in the name of unity we will no longer be running against republicans; it's too divisive :(" which yknow is already The Statements of all of yesterday from various like "i'm the republican official white supremacy agree-er now" after also the entire campaign of "no, I'm the fascist" where like wow shocking that the appeal to the fascists didn't win a) the fascists who will ofc want the even more overt fascism, why wouldn't they or b) the people who want antifascism actually, and do not want fascism; who could have foreseen? & it's always the fault of being Too Antifascist for the actions of the fascists or the Diplomatic Comprimises the other party makes with the fascists &/or their Failure to thwart them....the Nicer, Safer party in power is surely doing their best & at least they're not the Meaner, More Dangerous one but at the end of the day they'll always side with that party over america(tm) & those bearing the brunt of the actions of State Power can be told to keep their chin up or else to stop acting out b/c how do you expect that state power to respond, cmon, you bring it upon yourself, & you Have to work with them & understand all their feelings & your role in resolving those feelings by being lesser inferior property, you do Have to understand, b/c in the end this is All About Family, surely Good & Necessary, whoops i mean in the end this is All About America
anyway yeah i'm like damn my "nicer" (also shitty) father who was also the even more sexist & racist (& certainly no Less ableist, queerphobic) parent was basically the democratic party of the Two Parent System of Family Government lol. b/c we Need to perpetuate this Family, no other logics much less actions are acceptable....& people struggling with the Parent / Adults in their life like that who were the "safe" & "protective" ones who markedly failed to protect & minimized the harm afterwards but also in general, never to confront the reality of the situation, or do damage control like "aw some points were made at all :( ah i see you have Feelings about this :( hmm yes the Parental Power is gonna have to make some changes" & then as soon as possible (assuming reeling in the party who was deviating too much) these changes(tm) are already compromised or diminished if done at all, & then oops things incrementally might be right back to how they always were, no guarantees it won't be Worse b/c the Power is even more insecure / aware of weaknesses, & the only way this is thwarted is if the Wayward Parties can actually leverage new boundaries / less vulnerability, not b/c the supposedly sympathetic parties, who never came through where it counts & likely would also become overt antagonizers / wielders of whatever power within the Family hierarchy / turn on the more vulnerable parties to Get Them In Line, actually came through. movement Away (more disruptive to the maintenance of The Family, The State) is blocked, incrementally only ever moving everything back, & then Further....& despite this being what the power structures are, & do, the Disruptive parties liable to be scapegoated lol, can't believe the scapegoat child is ruining everything for everyone, this Family would totally improve & start being everything it could be otherwise & we ignore who actually has the power & is actually enforcing the hierarchy harming everyone to point to that scapegoat; can't believe thee left is destroying america (republican voice) can't believe the left is destroying america (democrat voice) So You See? The Undeniable Consensus. just like how i believe it was my fault my family unit was Like That & i had those experiences, according to the vast majority of Input from that family & even others who, knowing nothing, would say how Lucky i was to be relatively close to home, or just of course that oh well parents love their children & mean well & try their best. just like how i believe that being treated like i've been generally as a neurononconforming person, i.e. hated & the interpersonal abuse & bullying & ostracization & [attention possibilities: ignored, responded to but negatively, interacted with to get something from] & actually rewarding interactions or just actions being liable to get Deluxe authority responses as disruptive(tm) & ofc disobedient(tm) like hell fuckin yeah lol. just as i don't think that other people who have similar experiences or ones i don't have, i.e. assessed race being automatically seen as wrong / inferior, being isolated & undermined from all around? well gotta be their fault then, cmon lol....Abuse is actually normative, not extraordinary, in every Arena of interactions, & so are the logics / apologia / assumptions
anyway lol re: like yeah people struggling with the like betrayal of the "nooo i'm on your side, i sympathize, i'm the one who's nicer & you Need so that things aren't even worse" party, not even One Big Novel betrayal, but rather that that's what's Been done the whole time & doesn't stop. that supposedly if you have Any sympathy for that party you have to be like aw :( keep doing your thing (necessarily reining everyone in) or if you have Any sympathy for the people who also want things to improve but blame & take it out on the more disruptive parties (more disruptive to an abusive family e.g., btw. & not like i see Cohesion as necessarily some Good rather than neutral? when i'm autistic / my existence is supposedly antithetical to this? or when i'm able to look at a zillion hypothetical or actual situations & recognize how "cohesion" isn't the best goal / a destructive one / a vague concept anyways like cohesion Between Whom? on what basis? recognized & pursued how? why? up next: same as vague shit like "family" or "community" &c) then it's like yep gotta be Responsible for their feelings too if you're at all sympathetic & capitulate, The Only Possible Action, vs the idea of those in power actually making things shit stopping, much less being stopped / having to stop in the various ways that can happen....one way being "oh no, adult children who choose to be no-contact with parents" which is seen as A Tragedy, & sign of a Deteriorating Society, take me back. ah jeez oh no, look at the divorce raaates....Oh No, twentysomething women aren't pursuing marriage enoughhhh....again the undetectably identical echo when people peak vaguely talk about "conflicts" that thwart "community" or whatever, ugh nobody will date anymore, commit anymore, be friends anymore, hang out as coworkers anymore, talk to me if i want to talk to them anymore, &ccccc....
the real tl;dr is like wait ""two party"" (one party) US electoral system, just like ""two parent"" maintenance of thee family lol. ratchet effect raise your hand if you've only ever experienced Movement Away from the abusive family blocked, forever incrementally ratcheted back in to the desires & pursuits of those most in power / top of the hierarchy / thus of course most invested in the abuse, that's what the power & hierarchy is made of, sustained by, perpetuates....sorry doing our best :( sorry that's just all that's realistic, no other choice Really. cmon. kind of Your Fault if you don't agree to that & whoops now Everything is the fault of whoever doesn't agree & cooperate enough :( now look what you've done & brought upon yourself :( & we'll just forget the eruption of violence suppression happened & will happen again & be the overhanging threat all in the meantime
#aaand post whoops it's Politics; Abuse text blocks again. you know how it is#the [it's the same thing] resonance of Thee US State things & ppl's responses like what is this. my family (sitcom laugh track)#which then yes i do see the Differences first & foremost lol. going Hmm Antiauthoritarian Lens On News / Politics well before even#doing so re: my own family situation experiences which i was thinking of as normal (they were though) & not that bad (but it was)#indeed ''the home'' as a supposed site of Safety; relative restraint in the intrusion of State Power on such a domain#with being nonwhite & poor liable to make the home(tm) unavailable; less ''safe'' if so; less surveilled or intruded upon by the state#all wherein Money; Patriarchy; Parental Authority is meant to exert its own Control aka ''protect'' vulnerable parties a Home may contain#(that's a not necessarily neutral ''contain'' there lol) e.g. ah [true crime montage] women are Safe & Protected in The Home#as are Children as are Disabled People. oh no we have to be Necessarily Suspicious of what allows ppl to venture outside the home#rather than seeing that as neutral or perhaps even good when the Ideal Home Structure is as a force & site of isolation#oh god no not The Internet intruding into The Home (allowing people outside it. e.g. children. cough Aah Protect Them from Social Mediaaa)#stranger danger satanic panic true crime(tm) serial killer(tm) the scary nonwhite disabled poor Intruders of ideal suburbia etc....#tangent there. & if you aren't contained in a home / your home is not so Safe from state agents? well#just as pointing out [not in prison] as merely Lower Security that you will be moved to higher security (such as prison) over Violations#i.e. failure to be Properly Contained....uh oh out in public Unchaperoned; not spending money properly?? being nonwhite?#disabled? poor? That's Not Allowed; an appeal to some Personal authority (guardian; husband) might be made; might be seized by the state#to higher ''security'' b/c Lower isn't deemed containing you enough at Job & Home & not being too deviant & poor or intruding in the Domain#of those who are less so; incl even their illusion of power like umm i should never have to See a poor#might be executed with the automatic defense of the Necessity Of State Agent Killings & every last noble & sympathetic Feeling behind it#whether spontaneously as extrajudicial police killings or judicial preplanned state execution or the acceptance & embrace of deaths in the#context of the continuous exploitation & extra / exacerbated vulnerability for created & enforced social classes#& that every site of greater ''security'' is like; you must move toward Marriage; Nuclear Family; Normativity#your own ''proper'' exploitation in w/e structures like Family; Business; A ''Good'' ''Community''; A ''Good'' ''Nation''#or else For Your Own Good / The Good Of Others / You Bring It Upon Yourself like eh imprisonment? other exclusion / ostracization#while subject to the forces that get to respond to that realm of abjection. parallel abuse tactics of a prison vs perhaps a house/family#even more meandering tags here lol but much to discuss....certainly granted a relative fast track / front row seat via like#relatively ''normative'' life in various ways; white US sorta middle class; but personal autodidactic experiences as disabled queer#happening to be abused within the home (also plenty of Even More ''not that bad'' logics / practices even from Good Parents(tm)...Uh. lol)#no Experiences inherently guarantee w/e conclusions or principles but sure put mine to an antiauthoritarian context; boo hiss#& learned shit. stunned like wow yeah what's Disruptive to the norm is scapegoated? you stop ppl pleasing; ppl are displeased? whoah....

I just watched AOC's "What's Happening & How You Can Take Action" video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVgNJf6CsBA) and thought it was really impactful, so much so I decided to write up a summary of the insights, which I figured I might as well share with you all. Executive Orders are not that powerful: For all the Executive Orders being signed, know that they're not actually as powerful as they might seem. Congress can block Executive Orders, courts can block Executive Orders (you might have heard of this being done for the EO ending birthright citizenship), and they're essentially more limited in scope/permanence than actually signed laws. In fact, much of the EOs Trump has signed are meaningless or completely unconstitutional, which is not a pointless distinction, because as mentioned before, courts are blocking these EOs. Fascist dictators thrive on perceived power instead of actual power. They want to "flood the zone," pump out so much terrible nonsense the populace becomes overwhelmed and docile. Don't believe them, don't become docile and don't consent in advance. The reason Trump is using Executive Orders instead of actual laws is because he knows he only has a slim majority in the House (218R-215D, ie 2R's could flip a vote, 2 vacancies in FL to be voted on 4/1, 1 R departure in NY-21 to be up for another special election)/Senate (53R-47D/I, ie 4R's could flip a vote), and he doesn't want his perceived power to crumble, such as when 3 GOP Senators John McCain, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski blocked an Obamacare Repeal Bill "Health Care Freedom Act" from going through in 2017. Action Being Done by Democrats: Apparently Trump did a bunch of stuff while Congress was on recess, and they only got back in session Feb 5th, which was why there hasn't been much news from democrats. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries recently released a 10 objectives plan for House Democrats to obstruct the administration: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/25511884-jeffries-dear-colleague-feb-3-2025/ What You Can Do: While I'm sure we're all positively exhausted with everything going on, at a minimum, you can know your rights regarding ICE Raids (https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/immigrants-rights): Don't let them in without a Judicial warrant signed by a Judge, don't answer their questions even if you are a citizen, don't talk to them without a lawyer. If you have extra energy, you can:
Educate people on their rights by printing up Know Your Rights Cards (https://ocasio-cortez.house.gov/services/immigration-know-your-rights) to hand out
Contact your Representatives urging them to obstruct Trump nominees while Elon is invading the Treasury
Help Organize for the Florida special elections 4/1 for the House of Representatives. While it would be difficult for these +30R seats to flip (Note in the Jan 29th Iowa special election for Senate (a state Trump won by +21) actually flipped to Democrats), even switching a +30R district to a +10R district lets Republicans know their policies are unpopular and they should think twice before supporting Trump's policies. Additionally, there will eventually be another special election to fill a House of Representatives Republican vacancy up for grabs in NY-21.
Help Organize for other Swing Elections near you
Contacting your Representatives (https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member): To contact your representatives, you can make a short 2 min phone call to their office, which will either be picked up by a staffer or go to voicemail. Representatives listen to phone calls when trying to get a sense of what their constituents care about, but other forms of contact (email, text, etc) are by and large ignored. Additionally, you should say where you live, because representatives only care about what their constituents think, not outside people. Note that the voicemails only record up to 2 min so be brief. You can find your representatives phone numbers at https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member To express your views to your representatives, the format goes like this: "Hi, my name is [Name] and I live in [City, State, Zip Code]. I wanted to ask for your support on [Policy, Bill, etc]. [Anecdote if you have one to be more personalized]. Thank you for listening, my phone number is [Phone Number] and my email is [Email]." I personally have just called my senators to let them know I want them to vote NO on advancing/approving all Trump nominees, and that I supported them continuing obstructionist actions including the 30hr filibuster against Russ Vought, Trump's Director of the Office of Management and Budget pick. Florida 4/1 Special Elections for 2 House of Representative Members: Summary (https://www.reddit.com/r/VoteDEM/comments/1igu4if/floridas_2_special_elections_for_us_congress_will/), trying to elect Gay Valimont (https://gayforcongress.com/) (D) District 1 & Joshua Weil (https://www.joshweil.us/) (D) District 6. You can sign up to volunteer on their websites if you'd like. New York-21 Eventual Special Election for 1 House of Representative Member: Elise Stefanik (R) will be vacating her seat to become the U.N. Ambassador for the Trump administration, after which within 80-90 days a special election will be held for a new House member. While it's somewhat of a pipe dream, if Dems win all 3 of these House seats up for grabs, it puts the House at 218D-217R.

Driven by hardline prosecutors and tough-on-crime governors, the number of executions jumped 64 percent in 2022 and increased again in 2023 to a total of 24, the highest in five years.
Perhaps the most crucial player in the death penalty’s resurrection, though, is the U.S. Supreme Court, whose historic role of maintaining guardrails has given way to removing roadblocks. Under the conservative supermajority put in place by President Donald Trump, the justices are far more likely to propel an execution forward than intercede to stop it, including in cases where guilt is in doubt or where the means of carrying it out could result in a grotesque spectacle of pain and suffering.
...
In 1976, the Supreme Court famously declared that “death is different,” and demanded an extra level of scrutiny because a mistake is irreversible. Historically, in particularly troubling instances involving state misconduct or abysmal defense lawyering, the Court sometimes intervened at the eleventh hour — from 2013 to 2023, it stayed an execution just 11 times and vacated stays of execution 18 times, according to Bloomberg Law.
Since the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her replacement with Amy Coney Barrett in 2020, the Court has stopped an execution only twice and reversed a lower court to permit an execution nine times. In 2023, 26 condemned prisoners asked the Court to hear their cases; 25 were rejected. The message is clear: Prosecutors eager to seek and swiftly impose death sentences can reliably do so without judicial interference.
...
In Bucklew v. Precythe, a majority of the court opined that the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment “does not guarantee a prisoner a painless death — something that, of course, isn’t guaranteed to many people, including most victims of capital crimes.” In the court’s reasoning, the excruciating pain the defendant might suffer during execution paled in comparison with the terror and mayhem he inflicted during his crimes.
In that same opinion, the Court indicated an impatience with pausing executions while it considered whether to hear the underlying claims from appellate attorneys. Justice Neil Gorsuch warned his colleagues to be skeptical when reading eleventh hour death row appeals: “Last minute stays should be the extreme exception, not the norm.”
It has been. Consider the 13 federal prisoners who were sent to the death chamber in the final months of Trump’s presidency. In a series of terse orders, issued without briefing, argument or public airing of the legal issues, the court blessed the rushed, furious pace. Using this opaque process, which legal scholars call the “shadow docket,” the justices erased lower-court injunctions against executions in seven cases and turned away last-minute requests for stays in the other six. During the 16 years in which Barack Obama and George W. Bush occupied the White House, the Court had invoked the shadow docket to rule for the government a total of four times and “never in a death penalty case,” according to Stephen Vladeck, a professor at the University of Texas School of Law. In Trump’s single term in office, the number jumped to 28, including non-capital cases.
More recently, the Court has rejected cases that advocates say are riddled with error or rest on shaky evidence.
...
Death penalty cases are notoriously rife with racism, questions of innocence, mental health of the accused and whether they received competent legal counsel. Sometimes the facts are too dire for courts to ignore, and even some pro-death penalty politicians are unwilling to take actions in flagrant violation of established norms. The total number of executions over the past decade is still a fraction of its peak in the 1990s.
And yet, the death penalty machine continues to crank on. These days, the battles over who lives and who dies are increasingly local — waged courtroom by courtroom because the Supreme Court has largely abdicated its decades long role as the final arbiter.
“It is becoming more and more clear that the Court is reluctant to interfere in state court cases even to enforce its own precedent,” said Robin Maher, the executive director of the Death Penalty Information Center. “They are saying, ‘This is not our problem to deal with.’”

CONFIDENTIAL DOSSIER
Date: [REDACTED]
To: Minister [REDACTED], Ministry of State Security
From: [REDACTED], Second Bureau
Subject: Director [REDACTED], Intelligence Profile
Profile Overview:
Full Name: [REDACTED]
Age: [REDACTED]
Place of Birth: [REDACTED]
Role: Director of the Department of Reproductive Compliance
Clearance Level: Executive Level-01A
Director [REDACTED] is the commanding figurehead of the Department of Reproductive Compliance (DRC), a federal law enforcement agency responsible for the nation’s surrogate conscription program and various facilities nationwide. The DRC director is appointed for a [REDACTED] term as confirmed by the Congressional Committee on Population Sustainability and given extensive extra-judicial powers laid out by the Surrogacy Compliance Act.
He is a career bureaucrat who has traded his humanity for expediency. Under his leadership, the DRC has grown into an unchecked leviathan—efficient but grotesque, its operations mirroring the cold precision of its architect. His ability to push the boundaries of what is legal, ethical, or even tolerable has secured him a position of influence.
Early Life & Career
[REDACTED]
Personality Traits:
Cold Pragmatism: The Director is driven by results. Personal feelings, ethics, or public opinion do not factor into his decision-making unless they serve to advance DRC objectives. This often makes him appear unfeeling, but his peers understand this as the mark of a committed strategist. An unrelenting focus on control marks his leadership. He rarely loses his temper, tolerates no dissent, and wields his authority as a weapon to silence critics, both internal and external.
Charismatic Authority: While rarely warm to those outside his inner circle, the DRC Deputy-Directors, his authoritative presence commands loyalty and respect. He has a talent for motivating subordinates, even when the tasks he assigns are ethically questionable or unpleasant.
Tactful Manipulator: The Director’s greatest strength lies in exploiting any situation. He reframes scandals, spins failures as progress, and neutralizes opponents before they gain traction. This is particularly evident in his handling of scandals, where he frequently sacrifices lower-ranking officials while keeping the core of his operations intact.
Strengths:
[REDACTED]
Weaknesses:
[REDACTED]
Psychographic Analysis
The Director exhibits a series of paraphilic tendencies that appear to inform his decision-making and management style, with evidence pointing to the following:
Maiesiophilia (Attraction to Pregnancy): The Director's fixation on high-yield pregnancies goes beyond professional necessity. His well-documented preference for attending compound inspections during peak gestational periods suggests a personal fascination with the physical and symbolic aspects of pregnancy.
Alvinolagnia (Attraction to the Stomach): The Director’s frequent remarks on surrogates’ abdominal growth and his endorsement of protocols that maximize visible distension highlight a troubling preoccupation. Internal memos indicate his "enthusiastic interest" in monitoring compound efficiency through "visual metrics" tied to surrogate belly sizes.
Adipophilia (Attraction to Body Fat): The Director’s approval of protocols designed to promote rapid weight gain among surrogates—such as calorie-dense diets and hormonal supplements—seems to align with a pattern of fascination with larger body sizes. His private correspondence lauds its aesthetic impact on surrogates.
These tendencies may explain the Director’s resistance to specific ethical reviews and his reported hostility toward staff members who voice concerns about the physical toll on surrogates. While these behaviors may be cloaked in operational justifications, the overlap between professional priorities and personal fixations raises questions about his motivations and judgment.
This psychographic profile further contextualizes his apparent detachment from ethical constraints and his willingness to exploit vulnerable populations for personal and institutional objectives.
Notable Actions:
The Fertility Auction
Details: The Director allegedly facilitated private bidding among state governors and wealthy elites for first access to high-fertility surrogates. These "auctions" were conducted under the guise of "partnerships" with state-level governments and sponsors, yet records reveal that payments funneled through off-shore accounts significantly exceeded standard donation amounts. Surrogates conscripted through these auctions were subjected to extreme pregnancy quotas to meet the demands of the buyers (12-16 embryos).
Mass Birth Incident
Details: At Paternity Compound 125, the Director authorized experimental insemination procedures designed to test the feasibility of carrying 25+ embryos in a single surrogate. The trials resulted in catastrophic outcomes, with 87% of surrogates delivered prematurely and one surrogate reaching a full-term weight of 775 lbs (0.4 tons). The incident was officially reported as a "containment breach" caused by a fictitious viral outbreak, and the compound was quietly decommissioned.
Fertility Island Getaway
Details: An unconfirmed report suggests the Director owns a private island (known internally as Site [REDACTED]) where he entertains national dignitaries and wealthy donors. Allegedly, the island features a private compound where visitors can "observe" surrogates in active labor and even sponsor implantations. Rumors of illicit parties have been circulating for [REDACTED] years, though no concrete evidence has surfaced.
Golden Sons Incident
Details: Rumors persist that the Director orchestrated a covert operation to conscript the sons of several high-ranking opposition figures after discovering their exceptional fertility metrics, then allegedly leaked select details about these surrogates to his political opponents. The fear it induced was used as leverage to secure favorable legislation for the DRC. One whistleblower claims Director [REDACTED] referred to these surrogates as his “golden sons” during an internal meeting.
Final Notes:
Director [REDACTED] remains the backbone of the DRC, embodying its ethos of ruthless pragmatism. While his methods and personality polarize opinions, his results are undeniable. However, his growing list of external enemies within the DRC—poses a significant risk. Should his strategies falter or a scandal gain traction, his fall could destabilize the organization he’s spent his career building.

Subject: Interception of Sensitive Report
Deputy-Director [REDACTED],
Thank you for confirming the successful interception and destruction of the report intended for [REDACTED]. Your operatives acted quickly and ensured that the report and any associated materials were eradicated before it could reach its intended recipient. Thanks to their decisive action, the potential diplomatic fallout has been averted.
Following the operation, the Fertility Screening Unit flagged that the captured spy exhibited exceptionally high fertility markers. Rather than regale him to imprisonment, I have approved the prisoner’s immediate conscription into the surrogacy program. He has been transported to Site [REDACTED] and is currently being evaluated. Initial assessments suggest that his profile meets all criteria for high-yield surrogacy.
He will make an excellent centerpiece for our upcoming soiree, and his service will resonate deeply with our benefactors.
Ensure that the operative's background is wiped clean, and any associates are dealt with.
Regards,
Director [REDACTED]

Daniel Villarreal at LGBTQ Nation:
The president has signed an executive order targeting the law firm Jenner and Block because it is involved in a court case challenging his executive order banning gender-affirming care for transgender youth. The law firm denounced the order, but it’s just the latest example of the president persecuting legal firms that oppose his illegal actions. “Jenner engages in obvious partisan representations to achieve political ends [and] supports attacks against women and children based on a refusal to accept the biological reality of [gender],” the president wrote in his order, which he signed Tuesday. He also criticized the law firm for opposing the administration’s attempts to conduct mass extra-judicial deportations of immigrants, for trying to hire a diverse workforce, and for working with special prosecutor Robert Mueller in his investigation into Russia’s support of the president’s 2016 election campaign. Jenner and Block are working on behalf of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to block the president’s ban on gender-affirming care. The ban prohibits the federal government from funding, promoting, or supporting gender-affirming care for people under age 19 in any way. This included cutting-off funds — pre-approved by Congress — for any medical schools or institutions that research, provide, or teach about gender-affirming care. [...] The order targeting Jenner and Block directs government agencies to revoke any security clearances held by the firm’s attorneys and to end all federal material support to the firm. It also requires all government contractors to alert the administration if they plan on working with the law firm, and directs the Director of the Office of Management and Budget to provide a list of all entities that do business with the firm.
Lawless tyrant Trump targets yet another law firm…this time, Jenner and Block is under such needless scrutiny, because it is involved in a case against his gender-affirming care EO and also retaliation for their role in the Mueller Special Counsel Investigation.

DONT LET THE ABOVE FOOL YOU INTO THINKING ITS JUST ONE ACT, THEY'VE ENACTED PROJECT 2025 BY ROLLING BACK MANY ENVIRONMENT PROTECTIONS AND FEDERAL MINING REGULATIONS.
Of course the above article catches me making a masterpost for KY TODAY and I gotta redo the beginning. This is just the start but better late than never. Link for article published MARCH 3RD:
https://www.kentucky.com/news/politics-government/article301177474.html
Tumblr media
The bill above is House Bill 6, dubbed the "REINS Act"for "Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny," from Rep. Wade Williams, R-Earlington, disallows state agencies (judicial branch I believe) from taking action that isn't explicitly authorized by the Kentucky General Assembly if it costs more than $500,000 over two years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Link for the bill:
Gov. Beshear's veto/280 page response:
Tumblr media
A nice highlight: (from the effects of Legislator's REIN Act on Beshear's powers as Gov.)
"Had the General Assembly chosen to adopt a "disaster fund" as most states have, and as I have proposed in the past, there would be a separate mechanism to provide financing to address exigent circumstances without requiring a delay to seek additional funding."
For a Gov. Abusing his power it's amazing the 280 page veto where he had very informed information for his appeals to each clause: Just some below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gov. Andy Beshear has passed bills assisting the Energy and Environment Cabinet, he's been a dem "on the fence" (he so badly wants to be energy efficient if everyone here didn't prioritize coal or hate change (ahem with no programs I've seen to streamline coal miners to other energy efficient jobs)) over the balance of the environment and oil like any average Kentuckian is. But he's made comments congratulating Biden on his administrations efforts of balancing a new age of electric and energy efficiency with oils/"natural energy" and he's definitely fell to Biden's side.
Donald Trash of course doesn't like any pushback to his Project 2025 plans and his oil companies backing him definitely helped buy out Republicans as seen below @ the bottom of the article:
Tumblr media
Delaying our AG's response time to bring relief to kentuckians and needing disaster relief authorized by the General Assembly for floods that usually overtake most of the water state is so much bigger than being "unelected" when Beshear has for the general part, done right by Kentuckians in terms of flood relief and responding to disasters and have exceptional bills passed.
TELL YOUR SENATOR TO REJECT SENATE BILL 257 AGAINST "K.O.G.E" AND YOUR REPS/LEGISLATORS TO SPEAK UP!!
KY WRITE YOUR REPS TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE AND WRITE YOUR SENATORS TO APPEAL HOUSE BILL 6 THEY PLAN ON USING TO DAMPEN THE GOVERNOR'S/AG/CABINETS POWERS.
APPEAL HOUSE BILL 6 TO ALLOW THE ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT CABINET TO DO THEIR JOBS WITHOUT DELAYED APPROVAL!!
Below are more topics to bring up to KY representatives:
More Topics To Send To Representatives
Link for DOGE Cuts To Federal Offices, Many Relating to Safety Standards to our main production value as a water state; coal.
Right After Pushing Back Protections for the state MOSTLY AFFECT BY RAIN WATER AND FLOODS SO WHY NOT DIG INTO THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS AND TAKE A CHANCE NEXT RAIN SHOWER!!! AFTER ADDING EXTRA DELAYS TO DISASTER RELIEF!!! SMART!!!! ESPECIALLY WITH RECORD HIGH WATER LEVELS THIS YEAR WHILE DEPRIORITISING ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT CABINET AND THE REGULATIONS THAT WATCH SAID WATER LEVEL!! WOOOHWEE!
This last one's my favorite.
(Btw they're clinging to that unelected argument as if AG's/Governor doesn't go through the process, and not just labelled "the president's specialest person" like their leader Musky that's paying them through other contracted billionaires.)
And here's a copy paste to the main sponsor of the last article, Senate Bill 89:
(Context:"Sen. Scott Madon, R-Pineville, the bill’s primary sponsor, reiterated his criticism of “government overreach” by the state’s environmental protection cabinet in its decisions about coal-industry permits."
“God put coal under our feet so that we can use it. It’s one of the greatest natural resources, and it’s our job to push back on unelected bureaucrats,” Madon said on the Senate floor.)
Start Script:
“God put coal under our feet so that we can use it. It’s one of the greatest natural resources, and it’s our job to push back on unelected bureaucrats,” you said on the Senate floor.
So suddenly we're standing up to the unelected? Is this why there's a personal attack on the Democratic governor by suppressing his legal powers with extra and unexplained checks and balances that have yet to be justified in 2024? More delays to disaster relief isn't what Kentuckians voted you in for. Allowing an unelected and unqualified individual to run a recently presented branch of government called DOGE is the epitome of humiliating for ALL Americans who live to see this administration just for a good Governor to be attacked. But we're yet to see anyone call Elon Musk or any overseer of DOGE out.
A threat to democracy means a threat to the bureaucracy that defends us from hostile contracts and allows safety training and stricter regulations for coal mining in a state with literal "Rocky Mountains." That's been dealt with tremendous floods not seen in decades in some areas and polluted drinking water in some counties relying on a boil water advisory because no one came forth with an apology for rolling back environment protections in a state that needed it most during the Biden administration.
"The bill changes the definition of regulated state waters by removing “all rivers, streams, creeks, lakes, ponds, impounding reservoirs, springs, wells, marshes, and all other bodies of surface or underground water, natural or artificial.” The definition would be changed to directly refer to the federal definition of “navigable waters.” The bill also designates bonding requirements for coal companies seeking permits for long-term treatment of water leaving mine sites."
Kentucky specifically needs to regulate its own waters as we, and only ourselves, know the true expanse of dangers civilians have to deal with when the drainage from other states target specific counties. We are known for water, despite no great lakes for a reason. Waiting for a general assembly is one of the worst possible outcomes from all of the registration passed this year when Kentucky's latest flooding was horrific but thankfully due to our Governor foresight, we were still struggling in terms of relief response and a measly 500,000 won't cut it for immediate help like calling the national guard for areas unreachable by regular vehicles. We had 24 people die, I've never heard of such a high number of deaths in floods but I'm lucky to be 24 and not know of Pineville's 80's flood personally. I had the benefit of the doubt thinking you did. I was wrong.
The second being "-impounding reservoirs, springs, wells, marshes, and all other bodies of surface or underground water, natural or artificial."
Those "marshes" include the yards of houses and homes that aren't covered for flooding from insurance companies because "they're in an area known for flooding". Not enforcing insurance for home's yards and then retracting back environmental protections is intentionally in bad faith to those who will be affected, those being homeowners, landlords and those looking to build anything energy efficient in the long run. You being a main sponsor in this bill is a disgrace to anyone who knows the Bell County area.
Rolling over and allowing cuts to our water protection agencies and people still on waiting lists for SS just for a whole office to be closed by DOGE? It only further threatens the state's and cabinets approach to relief when our state has yet to make an Emergency Fund. We 100% rely on the fast acting of our most crucial employees and Gov. if we want to react and prevent and future deaths. Your complacent role in all of this will be seen under God.
End Script.
Pls add whatever you want or feel compelled to speak about, I take important sentences in articles I find important and love contributions. (Edit: I detailed up the script a bit.)

Extended Author's Notes for Left Behind Ch8.
Spoilers!
Chapter title is from "Without You" by Breaking Benjamin. Dear Agony is one of my comfort albums. :)
I actually added the part about Renata having injured Vi's back like two days before posting. I like the idea that they scarred, and Caitlyn will discover them in a few chapters.
SHE RECOGNIZES CAITLYN AGAIN. Even after everything. Vi is such a loving character, everything she IS is tied to the people she loves. No matter what the Baroness does to her, she can't take that away.
I do like comparing Caitlyn's eyes to a clear sky, for several reasons: 1. It's very romantic; 2. It contrasts with comparing Vi's eyes to clouds/rain/etc; 3. Vi grew up in the Lanes, spent years locked in Stillwater, and now is imprisoned by the Baroness. The sky is a symbol of freedom, and Caitlyn is going to free her.
I keep using the imagery of the brain being almost liquid and sloshing around, kinda like an egg. This is how I feel when I have migraines.
I debated having the commemoration be from Caitlyn's POV, but decided against it because I didn't really want to go into it. Caitlyn is very aware compared to Vi and it would've taken up so much more time to do it through her eyes. Also, it's got a lot of the same elements as earlier, so why rehash?
So here's how the ceremony works: the Chem-Barons, gang leaders, and their conspirators (Caitlyn doesn't know this, but there were a few wealthy Piltovans who didn't like the redistribution of resources to the Undercity and teamed up with the others to make sure that there would still be a Ruling Class) all gather. Prisoners are brought out and the "bosses" take turns executing them. Most don't want to get their hands dirty and have their people do it (the guy with the axe, Vi, and eventually Caitlyn). The more brutal, the better, because it scares the people into compliance.
As Vi beats the first man, Caitlyn watches until she just can't anymore. Then she turns to Renata and basically tells her to just end it already. Renata tells her to end it herself. Caitlyn (as Ghost, hood up) shoots the man to put him out of his misery and to let Vi stop.
I'm a tiny bit sad no one seemed to notice the "There is no one coming for you. No one will save you. Just... just let go." Followed IMMEDIATELY by "And then Ghost is there." Vi, sweet girl, someone IS going to save you.
When the Baroness's turn comes back around, Caitlyn intervenes and asks her not to have Vi do it (to spare both Vi and the victim). Renata tells her that she may do it instead, but not as Ghost. Caitlyn hesitates, the Baroness starts to give Vi the order, and Cait interrupts, agreeing to do it herself. When she puts her hood down, everyone there - both the "bosses" and the populace - can see that Caitlyn Kiramman is working for Renata Glasc, which is EXACTLY what Renata wanted.
Ugh, the tragedy of Caitlyn finally looking over to Vi and Vi not being able to meet her gaze. And that only leads into Caitlyn's belief that Vi is gone.
Caitlyn is still running on basically one bite of croissant.
"To only execute those whose crimes warranted death." Extra judicial vigilante behavior, my beloved.
AND THE BARONESS FINALLY FUCKS UP. She gets way too confident, riding the high of having Caitlyn do her bidding in front of a crowd of people. She really does think that she's got Vi completely suppressed. She also knows that Caitlyn isn't going to "use" Vi; it's all just a taunt, a mindfuck to layer on top of the shit Cait's already going through. It's a "look what I have, look what I've done to both you and her, did you really think you stood a chance against me?" She absolutely does NOT expect Caitlyn to try to mercy kill Vi, and she NEVER even considered that Vi might still be able to break out of her mental prison.
I really like the line "My own personal apocalypse." I just think it's a good line.
One of your comments talked about "the dignity of death," which is such a good way to put it. Cait is willing to give up the last person she loves, everything that remains of the life she had before, just to keep Vi's body from being a puppet for the Baroness. That's love, bitch.
Ashes and Blood reference! Love that song.
Also, the reference to the Purge, but this time it's Caitlyn doing the killing and burning, and returning to the goal of vengeance.
The part about Cassandra putting down an injured dog was another last-minute addition, but I really like having Caitlyn remember her parents. I think her love for them drives so much of her behavior. It was a little hard to write though; I have a dog and he's probably the most precious thing in the world to me. :(
Cait sets the muzzle of the rifle against Vi's forehead because she can't keep it steady with how much her hands are shaking.
When Vi's hand twitches upward, she's trying to reach out to Caitlyn, but hesitates because she isn't allowed to touch anyone without being ordered to.
"Her finger resting against the trigger trembles" - Caitlyn is not looking where she's aiming but she still has her finger on the trigger. I've been trying to be very careful to have Caitlyn practicing gun safety; her NOT doing it this time was deliberate on my part.
Vi has technically been capable of speaking this whole time (her voice works, as seen in the first half of the previous chapter). But she knows not to do it in front of anyone, because they'd realize she's still in there. Now that she's alone with Cait and she thinks (desperately hopes) that she can trust her, she finally lets herself talk.
God, that last scene was so fun to write. It took, like, no time at all; it just played out perfectly in my head and I wrote it down.
This was the cliffhanger I wanted to set up! It ended up working out for chapter length to have chapter 6 be only Caitlyn's POV, but it was really to set up this ending.
Teaser for next week:
Speaking hurts - it's been so long since she's used her voice for anything other than involuntary sounds - but she still swallows hard and, despite the glass shards in her throat, forces herself to rasp, "I know you."
There's a sharp noise.
The girl opens her eyes. Ghost is staring down at her, mouth agape and breathing jagged. Her blue eyes are blown wide; they flicker back and forth between the girl's, filled with horror but also the beginnings of something dangerously close to hope.

Neuvillette: Furina, I am not mad. I simply want the truth. Have you been sneaking off at nights to meet with Barbatos? You are neglecting your sleep schedule.
Furina: Whaaat? No~! What makes you say that?
Neuvillette: You slept through the last trial.
Furina: Cause it was BORING!
Neuvillette: Very well then. Stay awake for this next trial. You must take your duties seriously.
Furina: Fine, whatever. What now, something cool like a triple homicide?
Neuvillette: No. Shoplifting, trespassing, vandalism and resisting arrest.
Furina: It's only petty crimes, just fine them without a trial an—
Venti: Hello Furina! Remember last night? I'm on trial now!
Furina: On second thought, I believe an extra-judicial execution is on point.

can we start extra-judicially executing people who use the clip of Tidus and Yuna laughing out of context as an example of bad vidoe game voice acting without explaining that the point of the scene is the characters doing forced laughter?

I promise I don't mean this in a bitchy way but some of these posts critical of the BNHA ending read like "it's horrific that the villains all died. Even though they did terrible, criminal things, they were still people with thoughts and dreams and heartaches and did not deserve to be extra-judiciously executed. Anyway, Horikoshi sucks and there are obviously no real world implications we can read into with his writing choices".
