Summer has always been your favorite time of year. No school, shining sun, as many hours spent laying in the sun as you wanted. With Lip headed halfway across the country in a few short months, you were determined to make this the best summer of your teen years. Of course you were aided by a drivers liscense, working car, and two fake ID’s.
You and Lip roam the city, Fiona doesn’t seem to mind since Lip turned eighteen, but your own parents scold the both of you enough to get the full experience. They do it out of love, you know.
Lip kisses you often. His hands explore under your shirt, below your skirt, everywhere you want him to touch and nowhere at all, in the same moment. He joins a local summer ball league, playing at an old minor league stadium on the Northside. You go to as many of his games as you can, the tickets are dirt cheap and your regular paychecks from the movie theater plus some extra cash for babysitting keep you stable. You still squirrel money away for the upcoming year, but fresh out of high school all you want is your first taste of true freedom.
On the fourth of July you dress up in tight jean shorts and a loose flowing tank top in a deep shade of red. Two dark blue ribbons hold your hair in dorothy style braids which you nestle under a Chicago Cubs ballcap. Lipstick on and assets flaunted, you hop in your car and head to the field.
Lip plays good, he always says you're his lucky charm, but he’s the one who led his high school team to a state championship. You know it isn’t luck. You don’t mind when he says it, though, especially when he talks about you to his teammates.
“Yeah man, my lucky charm right here,” Lip calls out to Torres, his closest friend on the team. He smacks an exaggerated kiss to your cheek, drawing a giggle from your lips before he opens the drivers side door for you.
Torres laughs, then teases Lip, “yeah? She y’r girl, or y’r chauffeur?”
You laugh at that one as well, slipping into the seat. Lip leans into your space for a second, “get comfy baby girl, m’kay?” You nod in response, eyes a little starry, and he kisses you quickly. A moment later the door is shut, you can half hear him talking to Torres, but you don’t pay him any mind. Your eyes focus on the mirror on your sun visor. You apply a vanilla coconut lip balm, knowing he’ll kiss you when he sits down.
And he does, sliding into the passenger seat. He only takes a moment to close the door before he’s in your space, one hand on the plush of your thigh and the other cupping the back of your neck. He looks so good sitting there across from you, curls wild and messy. When he kisses you, you find yourself climbing across the center and into his lap.
“Woah, hey there,” he says with a devilish grin. You get straight to the point. grinding your hips against his. His mouth falls slack, one hand resting on your hip as the other brushes gently under your shirt. You kiss that stupid look right off his face.
That gets him going. His hand travels upwards to squeeze your breast over your bra. “Soft,” he mumbles, palming you with needy hands. One finger rolls around your nipple, then his other hand slides from your neck down to your ass. He guides your hips over his own, through your jean shorts you can feel the hardening outline of his dick, the length of it pressing into you. “Fuck—yeah, MK—shit,” he lets out a groan when you press harder against him.
“We—we shouldn’t be—oh!” You yelp when his fingers dive below your shorts, you’d barely noticed him fumbling with the button.
His teeth caress your neck, fingers resting against your pussy. Fuck, you wish he’d gone into your panties already. “Whatever y’wanna do, ‘kay?” he reassures you gently.
You nod, fingers gripping his wrist. You can’t let him touch you like that, not yet. You can’t get too attached. “Kiss me again,” you say breathlessly. Barely a beat passes before his lips are on your own.
Lip draws his hand from your panties, both palms landing on the curve of your ass. “This okay?” he asks quietly, soft breath fanning against your lips.
“More than okay,” you mumble, kissing him again. Your tongue presses past his lips to lick against him, whining into his mouth. The kiss is hot, it’s heavy, and you find yourself rolling your hips against his in a desperate, needy fashion. When Lip groans in response, you know you’re doing something right.
His hands leverage you against his body, his dick pressing againt the zipper of his jeans. “Fuck, tha’s it,” he encourages as you press your chest against his own. One greedy hand lifts the fabric, his lips pressing to the tops of your breasts where they spill over from your bra. He noses into the soft skin, unable to resist sucking a soft bruise into the flesh.
You feel so disconnected from reality, the thoughts and worries that you shouldn’t be grinding on your best friend like this flown out the window. His hands caress your body, tracing every soft and supple place he can find purchase in. With one hand in his messy curls you pull him up for another kiss. You press your hips down harder and a needy whine escape your lips.
Lip’s hands squeeze your waist, humming with a cocky smirk. “You like that, huh?”
“You like that,” you quip back, your hand moving between your bodies to rub at his aching cock. The sound that follows is desperate, heady, punched out of his throat like he’s never been touched before. You wonder how long it’s been since he had someone like this, how long he’s been waiting for you. You wonder
“Have y’been thinking of me?” you ask quietly, kissing from his neck up to his ear. You continue in a sultry whisper, “when you touch yourself?”
You can’t believe the sight, your face pressed close to his own while he nods eagerly. “All the time, a-all the fuckin’ time, Mk please,” he whines.
Barely a breath passes before you seal your lips to his own, grinding your hips down. “I think about it too. Think about us,” you whisper between messy kisses.
It sends him over the edge. Your lips on his own, tits pressed to his chest, warm cunt grinding down on his dick. He can’t believe you’re real. His thighs shake as he cums in his boxers. A string of apologies follows, “fuck, ‘m sorry, s-sorry,” he. stammers out.
You kiss him through it, mouth slowing to a gentler pace as your tongues tangle. Warm hands trail up and down your back, and when he catches his breath he begins to kiss down your throat. He maneuvers himself away from your lap and leaves a sloppy trail of kisses down your sternum, lifts your shirt so he can kiss your stomach, then his face rests between your thighs.
“What’re y’doin–oh, ohmygod–Lip!” You whimper as he licks a stripe up the center of your panties.
“Repayin’ the favor, he mumbles against your pussy. He adjusts himself in his messy boxers, then two strong hands are gripping your thighs. Lip fucking Gallagher is looking up at you through his lashes, mouth pressed to your hot center. “Say no, right now, an’ I won’t go any further. I promise.”
You think about it, try to weigh the consequences, but your mind is so hazy with need.“Fuck, Lip. Take ‘em off,” you whine, “please—”
That’s all you have to say. Your black thong pools by your ankles, Lip tries to pocket them but you kick him lightly, “cut that out, y’freak,” you tease. Though, the idea does get you a bit hot and bothered. But god would that be uncomfortable in jeans.
“Another time,” he mumbles against your thigh, and your heart flutters.
Another time? You don’t have time to dwell on it, white hot pleasure searing through your body as he laps messily at you. His nose bumps against your clit and draws a sweet whimper from your mouth, hands flying to his curls. You tug on the soft strands while Lip wastes no time flicking his tongue over your sensitive clit.
Your eyes flutter closed, back arching involuntarily. Your core presses to his face, and you feel him smirk against you. “You like that, huh?” he asks with a cocky tone, kissing your thigh for a moment as he catches his breath. You can only nod in response, as one of his thick fingers slides inside you.
“F-fuck, yeah, ‘s’good,” you babble, tugging sharply on his hair when he bites your thigh. The action pulls a broken moan from him, the sound vibrating against your center. He’s so close, one finger slowly crooking up inside you, breath fanning over your pussy. “Please, ‘m close,” you whine pathetically. God, this is humiliatingly hot.
“Yeeaaahhh,” he murmurs, drawing out the word while his fingers speed up. He’s added a second now, his lips attached to your puffy clit. He laps from you like a man starved, the coil in your core winding tighter with every second.
This is
fuck. It’s so much better than you’d imagined. You often wished your pleasure was drawn from his own fingers, not your own. Your daydreams and delusions were right, his thick digits feel like heaven. Little do you know, the sounds you’re making are Lip’s own heaven.
He pairs every thrust of his fingers with a swirl of his tongue, drawing the prettiest moans from your parted lips, painted cherry red. Oh how he’d love to see that hue smeared at the base of his cock, your cheeks flushed and eyes teary. Lip has to focus again on you, chasing down your high to keep his dick from making a second appearance.
“C’mon, c’mon Mk,” he grunts into your pussy. You’re messy, fucking dripping for him, he could bust right then and there. Theres a desperation in the way he laps at you, his sounds almost whines.
A burst of your arousal floods his tongue, your fingers grip his hair so hard it stings, but Lip doesn’t mind. Your sounds are like music to him. He withdraws his fingers and pushes the muscle of his tongue inside you, lapping up every drop like it’s nectar, and when he’s finished he rests his head on your thigh and simply stares. You’re so beautiful in his eyes–chest heaving, thighs parted for him–a picture perfect Goddess, a woman after his own heart.
He kisses the softness of your stomach before maneuvering himself over to the driver’s seat. “Guess I should drive you home, least I can do since y’made me cum in my pants and all.” You flush at his words, still awestruck at the orgasm he’d given you. “Y’with me, MK?”
You manage to breathe in, pulling your shorts and underwear up from where they’re pooled at your ankles. You fasten the zipper and button with trembling hands, “y-yeah, get me home Gallagher. I need a cold shower.”
He chuckles at that, cranks the engine and puts the car into reverse. Somewhere down the road while stopped at a red light Lip turns to you, fingers resting under your chin. “You’re all sticky,” you gripe, and duck away from him.
“Ah, quit that, ‘ve got you all over me,” he leans over with a smirk, and you can’t say no when he kisses you. You taste your own arousal on his tongue, and his hand massages your thigh gently. A green glow interrupts the moment, and Lip puts his hands back on the wheel as you continue towards home. “Hey uh, y’wanna go to ihop?”
“You’re fucking joking,” you say, the words followed with an incredulous laugh while you look over at him. Lip looks dead serious though, one eyebrow raised in question. He begins to smirk when you stammer out, “j-jeez, let me shower first. I guess you did work up my appetite.”
The light turns green, and Lip howls with laughter as he presses the gas.
Tumblr media
After separate showers—much to Lip’s disapproval—and a shared plate of bottomless pancakes, you sit across from each other at a small booth crammed in the back corner of the crowded ihop. Lip smiles as he tears one end of the wrapper off his unused straw. He blows the rest of the paper at you, earning him your signature glare. You can’t help but laugh too, admiring the pretty pink blush on his cheeks.
“So uh, ‘ve been thinkin’ about some things,” he says after your giggles calm down.
“Uh oh,” you tease. “What’s up?”
Lip fiddles with the strings of his hoodie, avoiding your gaze for a moment, then looks up at you with those icy blue eyes. “I’m not gonna go to MIT.”
Your eyes widen, “w-what do you mean? It’s perfect for you, and you—”
He cuts you off, shaking his head. “Too far, I wanna be closer to home. That way I can chip in with the bills, watch the kids, y’know.”
You’re in disbelief, your stomach churning. “Lip, you were given a once in a lifetime scholarship. Why would you give that up?”
Lip shrugs, “I got the same kinda thing here. Figured it’d be good to stay in the city, help out Fiona.” He looks down before continuing, “and it’ll be nice to have you ‘round too, yeah? Both of us at UChi?” Your heart flutters when he looks up again, gauging your reaction.
You put on a smile, covering all the conflicting emotions that swirl inside you. You’re happy for him, and you tell him that. Happy to have him around. Right?
You offer to drive, so you won’t fidget with the weight of your nerves. The ride home is fairly quiet, the only noises coming from the radio. Lip kisses you again by your door, hands flirting with the hem of your top but never quite going under.
“Hey,” you murmur curiously, pushing him back just slightly. You bring your arms up to his shoulders, and duck backwards when he tries to kiss you again. You have to hold back a giggle when his needy lips brush your jaw. “What’re we doing,” you ask softly.
He shrugs, that infuriating grin on his face. “We’re friends MK, like we’ve always been.”
“Friends with benefits,” you correct.
“Yes ma’am. Friends who kiss,” my murmurs, lips sealing over your own. “Maybe even, friends who fuck, huh?” He scoffs at the playful shove you give him.
“Good night,” you say firmly as you unlock your front door. He gives a two fingered salute before jogging off across the street. You sigh, closing your door behind you. It’s been coming for a while now. You might as well let it happen.

Going to strawberry fields with Dad!SoapđŸ„șđŸ„ș
Tumblr media
“Alright lass, pick these ones.” Your husband pointed down at another bush filled with ripe strawberries. Fiona’s little hands grabbed it before putting it in her small basket and moving along the field. You thought it would be a good idea to go to a strawberry field since it was a sunny day and both you and Johnny were free today. But all your kids did was pick either light green or old ones that were borderline moulding. You loved your three-year-old son Jack and five-year-old daughter Fiona, but both have yet to develop a perception of when food is edible enough to consume.
While Johnny looked over your daughter, you had to keep your eyes on your son and stop him from consuming under ripe strawberries. “No, no, no.” You tried to softly steer him away from them before he could eat them. Your husband chuckled before seeing his girl nearing a rotting strawberry to her mouth to eat. “Fiona! No!” He stopped her just in time. You just chuckled before turning back to Jack.
After an hour, both their baskets are only halfway full with the kids occasionally stealing a few. "Jonathan!" You yelled as you caught your husband taking a few strawberries of his own. “What?” He raised his hands in surrender. “Cannae a lad have a wee taste?”
“Will you quit that? All three of you. I want to use them for baking” Your daughter’s eyes light up. “Can I help, mummy? Please, please, please!!” Excitement was heard in her voice as she clutched your hand. Jack turned to look at you too as he also started asking for help.
***
You were holding your son’s hand as you guided him in mixing the eggs and sugar while John helped Fiona with cutting. She was slicing the strawberries with her kid-safe knife. With a proud smile, your daughter showed off the slices she made. You and Johnny smiled before you realised that you needed the baking pan. “Honey, I'll be right back” You went to the pantry to get it but noticed quickly that the certain pan you need is under a few other things. After failing to lift the stuff and getting the pan out you reluctantly called your husband over. “JOHNNY!”
“Yeah, hen?” He came into the pantry only to see you struggling with trying to get what you needed. “Can you help me?” He chuckled with an amused expression as he watched you struggle. “Well, thankfully your big, strong husband came to the rescue.”
Without breaking a sweat he lifted the things before taking out the cake pan for you. John smirks. “It’s only right if you give me a kiss for helping you, hen” You rolled your eyes but you couldn’t hide the smile that was forming on your face. “I guess you deserve-”
But a thud from the kitchen interrupted you. John stared at you with a raised brow before going into the kitchen with you. There was Fiona and Jack covered in flour, and the white powder was in your daughter’s hand and the bag on the floor. “It fell down.” While you looked mortified at the mess, John couldn’t help but laugh at it, even pulling out his phone and snapping a few pictures of them. “Oh that’s proper funny. This’ll go in the memory book.”

Thoughts:
A few standouts this month: Only and Forever brings the Bergman Brothers series to an end, and it was a worthy wrap up to these stories featuring MCs with disabilities and neurodivergence.
Just for the Summer is my new favorite Abby Jimenez book with several laugh out loud moments - especially the raccoon scene - which was hilarious on audio.
The Bookseller at the End of the World is not the cozy bookseller tale you might expect. Ruth led a varied and adventurous life filled with heartbreak and hope.
And I really enjoyed Says Who? - a super accessible and fun guide to English style and grammar.

Howdy, I'm Respheal (aka Res) (she/her).
I'm getting back into writing. I might also draw once a decade or so. I'm on Ao3! Summaries of my fanfics live under the cut. I love love love comments and art and jabbering about them <3 Send me asks to get a way-too-verbose response!
I play and reblog FFXIV (My WoL is Fiona Blackthorne on Cactuar). I also usually reblog Legend of Zelda stuff. Both are tagged as #ffxiv and #legend of zelda respectively. Majora's Mask is my first and favorite LoZ game (which is probably why I write a lot of Time Shenanigans). I'm currently really deep in Linked Universe (tagged as #linked universe).
If it makes me laugh, it gets a reblog under #laugh rule.
My three cats are Ismee, Emil (pictured), and Chai. Sorry everyone but Emil is the caretaker of the sole Orange Cat Braincell.
I'm ace-biromantic and polyamorous. Queer/LGBTQ+ folks of all stripes welcome here. Trans rights are human rights.
Writing Stuff (LoZ Fics)
Fics marked as "Kintsugi" share a timeline/continuity.
Shards of the Hero - BotW/TotK (Finished, Kintsugi)
Taking place after Tears of the Kingdom, Link and Zelda meet a new incarnation of the Hero, nicknamed Midori, wearing Majora's Mask. Midori's wish on the mask to undo the Calamity comes true (by making something much worse happen).
The Princess and the Spirit - Echoes of Wisdom (One Shot, Kintsugi)
A little headcanon regarding the swordfighter form in Echoes of Wisdom, wrapped in fluff and friendship.
Hiraeth - Hyrule Warriors/Skyward Sword (One Shot, Kintsugi)
Captain Link meets a Skyloftian knight who is very interested in learning about this future Hero (and what Link's history might say about Skyloft's prophecies). Absolutely no one is happy to learn who the Chosen Hero will be.
Greedy Rabbit - ALTTP/OoS/OoA/LA/ALBW/TFH/CoH/LU (One Shot, Kintsugi)
A character study of the Hero of Legend, the rabbit who throws himself on the fire again and again.
Unbroken - Linked Universe - Playlist (WIP, Kintsugi)
A LU longfic adding Linkle and Midori (from SotH) to the Chain. When Null begins eating time itself, eleven Heroes of Courage are thrown out of their eras and scattered across history. But there's another Hero who should have joined them and he's stuck in his era, hounded by a cult that wants him sacrificed. If they want to save Hyrule, the Chain risks losing everything else.
Fallen Fae - Linked Universe (WIP, standalone)
You've heard of Fairy Hyrule, but have you heard of Anti-Fairy Hyrule? After an incident with a corrupted Great Fairy, Hyrule's fae side turns a little vampiric. The Chain has to figure out how to turn him back to normal before he bites anyone else.
A Field Guide to Fairies - Linked Universe (One Shot, companion to Fallen Fae)
Vio writes a short nonfiction book about fairies. And mushrooms. And insects. That are all also fairies. The other Colors leave commentary. With pictures!
Thread of Fate - Cadence of Hyrule/Linked Universe (One Shot, standalone)
Based on this prompt. Legend raids the Local Yarn Shop (the LYS is run by Fate and also he's dead but what else is new for the Hero of Legend.)
Hic Svnt Leones - Linked Universe/FFXIV (One Shot, standalone)
A mechanical lifeform from another universe crash lands in Wild's era. When the Chain goes to investigate, they get caught in a stowaway's trap. Welcome to Pandaemonium, Heroes; here be lions!

top five albums?
even better--i made a new topsters. because narrowing it down to 5 is hard.
Tumblr media
i didn't let myself repeat artists otherwise there would be more goats (tallahassee especially but beat the champ is also up there lol) on here
album listing under the cut:
hospice - the antlers (ultimate crying album)
all hail west texas - the mountain goats (combines classic goats lo-fi with their more contemporary lyrical sensibilities. great to yell along with)
the money store - death grips (it's as good as every annoying music critic says it is)
dragon new warm mountain i believe in you - big thief (one of two very recent albums on here. adrienne lenker is a god.)
the age of adz - sufjan stevens (maybe not his best album objectively, but the subject matter hits hard.)
bury me at makeout creek - mitski (my first mitski album back in 2014, and still my favorite. defined my teenage years.)
igor - tyler, the creator (no one does it like tyler)
nebraska - bruce springsteen (along with purple rain, the two albums my mom played for me as a kid that have stuck around the longest. sorry prince i just have atlantic city stuck in my head rn!)
twin fantasy - car seat headrest (either version. will toledo and i are from the same general area so i'm automatically biased towards him and then he makes this fucking. gay opus.)
burn pymalion!!! a better guide to romance - the scary jokes (did things to my head when i was 18/19/20 and does things to my head still.)
comfort eagle - cake (GOOD ASS ALBUM WITH HORNS ON IT)
fetch the bolt cutters - fiona apple (c'mon)
the glow pt 2 - the microphones (other ultimate crying album)
dirty computer - janelle monĂĄe (insane album. cohesive and beautiful. i love janelle's older stuff and i love age of pleasure but dirty computer is just fucking out of this world.)
e‱mo‱tion - carly rae jepsen (see my comment about death grips)
69 love songs - the magnetic fields (kind of cheating bc it's so long but. what can i say. it's a good album.)
10,000 gecs - 100 gecs (the newest album on here. i don't remember an album i've had as much fun listening to as this one. fuck all gec haters.)
depression cherry - beach house (best album to get high on the substance of your choice (including life if you don't partake in anything) to)
trick - alex g (alex g good)
my cute fiend sweet princess - kimya dawson (who else had their world rocked by the juno soundtrack at a young age)
remain in light - talking heads (along with stop making sense, which felt like cheating, the talking heads record we had in the house)
flood - they might be giants (tmbg is just plain good at what they do)
the crane wife - the decemberists (C'MON)
reddishness - girls rituals (not for everyone, but it hits for me. it might hit for you.)
pet sounds - the beach boys (it came down to this or blond by frank ocean lol. but i feel like you don't get blond without pet sounds. so.)

i have this fantasy; i'm somewhere with a grey, cloudy sky. no light peaks through the thick layer but i can tell that it hadn't been day time for hours. i'm in the middle of a field with grass and weeds reaching up my shins to the bottoms of my kneecaps, roughly hitting against my skin from the heavy breeze along with my steps forward. ahead of me is only twenty meters of field left. then, it is only the roaring ocean. for miles and miles. its the only thing i'm able to see as i continue walking forward through the grass. just as my sight, it was the only thing i could hear. below me, all around the cliffside i had found myself place upon, violent crashing of waves sounded on the large jagged rocks in the bay of the cliff. as i got closer water splashed my face. my hair had already begun to curl up and cling to my face from the sticky, salt air. the sounds of the waves seemed to be amplified like an echo from all of the empty space around. my heart started to beat along with every thrash of water, my breath adapting to the forceful winds blowing. i closed my eyes and stretched out my arms. i'd fallen to the ocean's power. her beauty, her might, her song, her wildness. her freedom. the wind jostled me around as i looked out back to the water. the dark blue velvet stared back at me with the only thing i could recognize as my own reflection. we were one. of course we were the same. the ferocity so quickly unleashed, the deep areas of unsearched material. standing on the edge, above me the clouds began to subside in a small area. shining beautiful moonlight down to the water right below me, the water sparkled blue just like my eyes had when it was too sunny out. i took a step closer and began falling into my eyes. for a second flying through the air, i couldn't breathe the blowing winds anymore. my heart wasn't beating along with the water. but as i came in contact with the surface, i had been enveloped by my life source. i'd been swallowed right up by myself, where i always belonged. i was back from the little drop i was, into the ocean. i was now another wave on a shore. i have returned to myself to now begin a journey. tearing through the water's surface i looked out, prepared to sail looking for something i can't yet describe. a shock of cold went through my body piercing to my bones, fully awakening me to my surroundings. the moon seemed to shift it's position, pointing forward as a guiding light. i began to swim in the moon beams, ignored my chattering teeth, and set off to find something much greater than myself.

Was Justin Hartley nervous about the launch of his new drama series, Tracker, which had the honor of premiering in this year’s coveted post–Super Bowl timeslot? According to the actor formerly known as Kevin Pearson on NBC‘s This Is Us, not until the intense 49ers–Chiefs game went into overtime. “I was like, ‘Oh, so we’re asking people to tune in [to our show] at 11:15 pm?’” he says.
Thanks to what Hartley calls “the power of the Super Bowl, the power of Taylor Swift, the power of the NFL and a really great game,” those worries were short-lived, as 18.4 million live viewers stayed up for Tracker’s premiere (with multiplatform numbers, that audience has climbed to more than 33 million). Beyond that solid debut, episodes in the drama’s regular timeslot averaged a strong 7.2 million live viewers.
“All of that is a testament to how good of a show we’re putting out, and it’s just getting better,” the actor, who is also an executive producer, proudly tells TV Guide Magazine while shooting in Vancouver. “Sometimes the entertainment factor of what we do gets lost when you pay attention to numbers. The ratings for me at this point show we are entertaining a large group of people, which I love, and that’s why we’re doing it.”

Fiona Rene as Reenie Greene in Tracker Season 1 (Michael Courtney/CBS)
On the surface, Tracker—which is based on Jeffery Deaver’s bestselling novel The Never Game—resembles many of CBS’s successful procedurals, with the format of noble heroes solving mysteries and saving lives. In this case, it’s a singular savior: stoic professional tracker Colter Shaw (Hartley), who travels across the U.S. collecting cash rewards while helping citizens locate missing persons. But the familiar case-of-the-week element is where the similarities to shows like NCIS or FBI end.
“I remember the initial pitch to the studio,” says executive producer-director Ken Olin, who worked with Hartley on This Is Us and brought him Deaver’s book as their next project. “Colter’s not encumbered by the same restrictions that all these procedurals have, where there’s a base they live out of and they have to adhere to the law.” Instead, the independent contractor is his own boss, traveling to cities like St. Louis and Chicago in an Airstream trailer.
“There’s a throwback element, like The Rockford Files, with this guy going into a new world” weekly, says executive producer Elwood Reid. (Olin cites Then Came Bronsonand The Fugitive as series in the same vein of Tracker.) “This was more of a character redress of a procedural because so much of it comes from this character, what he does and the cases he takes.” Reid adds that Colter “is not a cop doing a job. He’s this guy doing this thing for his own personal reasons.”
While Hartley says Colter is “all heart” when on the job, he keeps an emotional distance. That’s in part due to his painful family drama, which viewers got a taste of in the pilot episode: Colter’s tracker-teaching father, Ashton (Lee Tergesen), ended up dead from a cliff fall—with Colter’s older brother, Russell (Matthew Nelson-Mahood), seemingly responsible. The mystery surrounding that event begins to accelerate with the May 5 episode and continues through the May 19 season finale, shaking up the recluse.

Michael Courtney / CBS
“Colter finds out some stuff that does rattle him,” teases Hartley, careful not to reveal too much. “If it happened to me, I wouldn’t be able to sleep thinking that certain people in my life lied to me or misled me intentionally. It changes his family dynamic quite a bit.”
As his past disrupts his present, there’s opportunity for the lone wolf to lean on the team who remotely help him on cases, like brainy Chicago-based techie Bobby Exley (Eric Graise) and caring married couple Teddi (Robin Weigert) and Velma (Abby McEnany), who field Colter’s assignments and provide vital intel from Denver. Then there’s brash traveling lawyer Reenie Greene (Fiona Rene), who shares a slowly simmering spark with Colter. In the April 28 episode, Reenie has a personal connection to his missing-children case in Oregon and comes in to help. “They spend a lot of that episode together, not romantically, but you see there is a relationship,” says Reid, adding, “It’s the biggest story we’ve ever done.”
WithTracker already renewed for Season 2, Hartley is “excited about the endless possibilities and the characters that we can bring in.” Could that include another appearance from wife Sofia Pernas, who played fellow reward seeker and rival Billie Matalon in Episode 6? Leave it to TV’s newest detective: “I know a guy, if we can get her!”

I come to thy inbox requesting a creature! I would like a combination of cat, peacock, and dragonfly. Hostility: definitely a 1, as I would like as cute and cuddly a creature as you can draw ;). Size: probably a 5? About the size of a house cat, or a little bigger, please. Intelligence
how about a 6? And for extra quirks, maybe it glows or sparkles just a little bit? I am anxious to see this creature! :)
Tumblr media
I found a creature similar to your description.
The creature didn't seem afraid at all, quite the contrary! It actually let me pet it. I can confirm that it's fur is just as soft as it looks. It's tail had a peculiar glow to it, and it's wings were moving extremly fast, creating a colorful blur. Futher observations are required to explain these phenomena. But my current hypothesis is that it might be for the purpose of attracting a mate. I had just finished my sketch and was going to try to offer it some food when...Alas! It flew away with a high pitched scream. I wonder if something startled it perhaps... I decided to finish my lunch back at my camp instead. Just to be safe.
Thank you for your contribution to my studies! Your humble independent resercher and friend!-Fiona

damn it.
" This isn't about being your superior!" it wasn't an order from his boss, former or not, even if it sounded like that. she could handle the red lyrium-- its song meant nothing to her. the only emotions she felt was the stark need to destroy the spires that stick out of the ground, crushing them beneath her heel to stop the growth. but in this nightmare made real, they would only grow again, a neverending supply. it made her sick with not only disgust but worry. in the corner of her eye, she thinks she sees Fiona, her body half-swallowed by the red lyrium, her voice cracking with desparation. she squeezes them shut and then the woman is gone, leaving behind nothing.
her focus turns back to the knight, noting the way he freezes for a split second as the abomination crashes its way through. she's about ready to snap him out of it but then a name falls from his lips.
" .....Meredith?" she echoes, gaze narrowing at the monstrosity and the vague humanlike face it held. she had only briefly heard of that name in regards to what went down in Kirkwall in passing during her travels with the clan. but whatever details she learned then were drowned out, unimportant in the heat of battle. her blood courses through her veins, the flow of magic welcomed and familiar and as the song sings, she ignores it. the horrors of that future Redcliffe stave off any sickening promise it could lull her with.
' Ah, Commander Cullen. So strong, so resolute you stand here.....and yet, you couldn't do anything to save your brothers and sisters in arms. They died screaming your name, begging for you to save them, asking how you could turn your back on them.'
Tumblr media
elvhen curses fly from her lips as she realizes. of course. it is not Corypheus that taunts them but the Nightmare. an aspect that has found its way into this waking nightmare and this time, there is no kind spirit to guide them along. Elaria knows there was no convincing Cullen to leave for his own safety. fine. she will just have to make sure he survives this with his mind intact.
" Cullen, focus! We need to kill her!" magic hums, gathering at the tip of her fingers. a flick of the wrist sees a disruption field cast before the two, weakening and freezing the shadows that dared to try and charge. what follows within seconds of her casting was a cage of lightning, bolts striking without rhyme or reason, leaving carnage in its wake. she has decided: she will focus on the red templars that continue to pour forth, clearing the way for Cullen to deal with Meredith, backing him up as need be.
her few words are the only thing she gives before dashing forward, striking with both spirit blade and staff in each hand, weaving through the horde, cutting down each lyrium infested creature in her path without hesitance. it was a mercy, this was.
Sometimes, when Cullen's alone with his thoughts, when the shame and self-loathing descend with the night sky, he wonders if they could've saved his brothers. Would it had made a difference if they recruited the templars instead of the mages?
(A part of him, childish and petty, will always hate Lavellan, will always hate himself, for failing to advocate for his brothers. He understands the cold logic of it—they needed magic, large quantities of it, and the mages of Redcliffe could provide it. Leliana's judgment was sound, it was pure speculation in his part that the templar's magic nullifying abilities would be helpful. Whatever those abilities could've done, they would required lyrium, massive doses of it, to help out with the Reach.
Which brings them back to this exact problem.)
"No," Cullen shouts back, stubborn as a mule as he deflects a lyrium-studded fist with his shield, sending the Red Templar shadow reeling. There, the opening he needs. "You are not my superior any longer," the point of his sword goes clean through the shadow's opening on the helmet where human eyes would normally rest. On this creature, however, the only sign of vision are two glowing, lyrium red glowing dots, which disappear once his sword hits metal. A sickening, moist crunch rings as Cullen removes his sword, not a second wasted, his motions practiced, professional.
(Meredith. The Knight-Commander would've looked like this, red lyrium growing out of her shoulders, her chest, her eye sockets like in his dream. He'll never forget her shriek as the red lyrium overtook her, consuming her flesh until nothing remained but a featureless statue, keeping a macabre watch at Kirkwall's Gallows. Two years passed and he couldn't bear it, couldn't work up the courage to go back there, the sound and scent of that battle burned into his soul.)
"This is my fight." Between gritted teeth, he dashes forward, ignoring the red lyrium's song vibrating inside his skull, promising so much more than the blue ever did. The song only grows stronger as a behemoth bursts through the enemy lines, scattering the rest as if they too were afraid of it.
But no, no, Cullen's not afraid. Refuses to be afraid as he recognizes the monster's circlet, the symbol of Andraste resting on its brow. A Knight-Commander. Maker preserve him, no—
"Meredith." Even half-delirious with the madness of all this red lyrium threatening to drown him, Cullen recognizes his former commander's platinum blond locks, their gold a mockery against the horror they frame. Swordless too, he notes, but it doesn't matter—the scythe-like club of red lyrium fused to her right arm will hurt just as much.
It could, unlike her two-hander, irrevocably contaminate him.
Knight-Captain, she projects into his mind, voice amplified with the power of all the red lyrium surrounding them, inside of her. You failed me once. You will not fail me again.
