Remember when y’all were so fixated on how the scene in Ep1 where Steven explains to a little girl how the Egyptian afterlife works and she goes, “And did it suck for you? Getting rejected from the Field of Reeds?” was a whole foreshadowing to when Steven sacrificed himself to the Duat for Marc in Ep5?
How convenient that y’all missed this other one…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Classic hero-defeats-villain trope, and y’all did NOT see Jake’s line being foreshadowed by Jamila in Ep2? Come on.

I’m honestly surprised people think Toga is dying, didn’t get that feeling at all from this chapter 😅 I personally interpreted it as very hopeful, i mean “not going to jail even on Ochako’s terms,” thought that was a bit of foreshadowing right there, but could be wrong. This chapter was lovely, HK really homing in on these chapters!
I see WHY people think she's dead, but it's a very surface and frankly, uncharitable reading of this manga. The only way you could genuinely think she's dead for real is if you absolutely ignored a LOT of messages Horikoshi has been trying to give us about how sacrificing your life as a hero ISN'T the save-all and causes issues down the line. He introduced that idea with NANA way back, where we saw that even if All Might saw her sacrifice as heroic (and I will say I don't know what else she could have done), Kotaro DIDN'T view it that way and it absolutely caused issues later on. Heck, way back with Kota we see that heroes who sacrifice themselves can leave behind lots of problems. I'm trying to say that while it's not a full subversion, Horikoshi HAS been subverting the idea that dying for someone else's sake is noble/redemptive for the entirety of this manga. And he's held on consistently to showing this and I think the final nail in the coffin for this idea of sacrificial death as heroic was the Todoroki plotline. Again, the sacrifice for another's life was Enji's dad's fate and it ended up instilling an awful idea that heroism > fatherhood, and that actually, that Enji could be a good father if he was a "good hero". Again, we see sacrificial, redemptive hero deaths causing issues within the generations left behind. The fact that Enji attempted to "atone" with his own life and Touya's but was STOPPED should have put this to rest because if sacrificing yourself was heroic, Horikoshi would have killed Enji (and Touya) off. He did not. There are no sacrificial deaths coming as far as I can see. Horikoshi is challenging that notion to begin with. Toga is not dying here because it absolutely means Ochako has FAILED, like Keigo did, in saving her plot-assigned villain. I understand the poetic nature of being able to choose your own fate that people think Toga has done, but I think it's, again, Toga not seeing a future for herself where she can be happy. Ochako, or some other hero, needs to do something to make sure that smile STAYS on Toga's face. That's why her story isn't over.

Jeez I forgot just how lost in violence Kaneki was. It didn't start next arc, it started right here.
And if you pay attention to Noro's clocks, you realize that Kaneki's been fighting non-stop for 2 straight hours now
Each time I reread the manga I get a little more upset with people who think Kaneki is just “edgy”. They completely miss the point. Kaneki is lost and desperate and goes down the wrong path thinking its the only way to protect people.
THIS is what the black goat’s egg was foreshadowing at the very start.
Tumblr media
The violent impulses that suddenly surface that had secretly been there all along.
Tumblr media
Hey Kaneki, uh... how long have you been thinking about how best to half-kill someone...? 😅Somehow I doubt its as recent as this battle with Ayato...

Speaking of twst events, what are your Top 3 Favourite game events so far? I'm genuinely curious. :'DD
Are there any events you didn't like?
[Referencing this post!]
Tumblr media
Mmmm… I think most events are at least okayish? In general, I tend to prefer stories with high stakes or the ones that have some meaningful impact on character development, which are few and far between when it comes to TWST 😅 so their events aren’t typically my thing! You’ll notice that my favorite events in TWST actually do have story and/or character relevance.
That being said!! My favorite events would have to be:
Glorious Masquerade — This is, in my opinion, TWST’s strongest story and best overall event. It stands out against the others by having actual stakes and fully committing to it, as well as does wonders for the SSR trio’s involvement and interests in taking down the Big Bad. This is particularly true of Idia and Malleus. Said Big Bad, Rollo, is also very compelling in his own right.
Wish Upon a Star — Historically, this was the first time we saw the student’s rooms! The story itself introduced us to Star Rogue, which was pivotal to the Shrouds’ childhood (and later becomes relevant again in book 6). It was sweet to see Deuce try so hard to get Idia to come out of his shell, and even sweeter to see how far Idia is willing to push himself for his brother.
Fairy Gala: What If (NOT the first Fairy Gala; this is an important distinction!) — The edge this has over the original is that it is connected to Ortho’s growth as an individual post-book 6. He is able to discover his own take on what “evolution” is. Silver also gets a cool spotlight which demonstrates the pacifist teachings he was imparted with, serving as the bridge between fae and humans. Very pretty clothes and makeup too!!
I also liked:
Happy Beans Day I and II — This was a nice event that gave the whole cast their time to shine without feeling too bloated. It was also fun to see the different strategies and tactics each student employed; it helps show off their characters and problem solving abilities!
Ghost Marriage — I really liked that TWST parodied the fairy tale love stories and romantic events (that Disney and even mobile games in general are typically associated with). Hilarious how each of the guys tried and failed because they’re just silly high school students with no idea how to actually get a date 😂 I’m also biased for any outfit that involves formal wear.
White Rabbit Festival (Queendom of Roses hometown event) — The Alice in Wonderland aesthetic of Clock Town captured my heart 😌 It was also nice to see Deuce prove that he has turned over a new leaf to the townspeople.
The events I didn’t care for are:
Endless Halloween Night — I have very strong beef with the ending and the reasoning given for it 💀 It feels like everyone got gaslit into forgiveness… I also hated how no one held Malleus fully accountable after all the stress they were put through. Easily my most disliked event.
Tamashina Mina (Sunset Savanna hometown event) — Underwhelming ending in spite of the hype building for it. No meaningful payoff for the foreshadowing of Cheka’s guards.
Tsumsted Wonderland I and II — Nothing really happens (other than I guess the Tsums being cute)?? And it doesn’t really make an impact on anything.
Lost in the Book with Stitch — Same issue(s) as the Tsumsted events, except somehow even worse because everyone magically forgets everything they did with Stitch :/ so the experience means nothing in the long term…
Honorable mentions for my dislikes:
All Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles — I hate having to sit around and wait for ingredients and the fact that you can’t cook multiple dishes in one go. The lack of story also makes these events just not worth it for me.
Sam’s New Year Sale(s) and TWST Anniversary — Do these event count as a story event???? They’re just kinda celebratory short interactions, if anything.

Soo to understand some things because i get what's happening in LO only from Tumblr;
Apparently now there are two Titan villains Ouranos and Kronos for... reasons unknown
There's a prophecy of Apollo overcoming Zeus that makes no sense
Persephone is the one responsible for winter so Rachel proves she doesn't understand the meaning of the original myth of Hades and Persephone that's a metaphor for changing seasons / life and death
Kassandra is the one to tell it even though she was cursed by Apollo her prophecies to never be believed and also she's part of the plot even though Achilles in LO is very young and she's part of the Trojan war so... Rachel messed up the time periods
Eros and Psyche believe her as well which again doesn't make any sense because Kassandra's gift was also her curse that led to her downfall
I am sure there are more but Rachel just keeps adding plots and plots to no end trying to make things more interesting apparently? Idk so far the series is an overwhelming burn out 😅
Kronos was used as the midseason finale villain for people who are on free to read episodes, Ouranos was used as the actual midseason finale villain for people who are on FastPass, with Apollo as just like, an accessory. IDK if this is foreshadowing for Ouranos to actually 'return' (literally I have no idea how Apollo overthrowing Zeus will lead to Ouranos being revived but god knows at this point) but there are definitely WAY too many villains going on for a story that's meant to be just a romance/drama series
The prophecy for Apollo overthrowing Zeus is literally just the prophecy of "descendants of Ouranos use fertility goddesses to overthrow their predecessors" (so Ouranos used Gaia to gain power over the realms < Kronos overthrew Ouranos using Rhea < Zeus overthrew Kronos using Metis, even though most of the credit technically goes to Hera for handing herself over to Kronos in an attempt to poison him under the guise of them having a "relationship"). And yeah the implication is that the fertility goddesses in LO are limited to ONE family line that's been passed down since Gaia/Ouranos like the freaking Avatar, which KINDA REINTRODUCES THE INCEST BTW-
100% , I feel like it was her attempt at giving Persephone a "flaw" but this doesn't work because we've seen Rachel retcon aspects of Persephone to make her perfect before (the green hands) and it's not cool that Rachel can only give her a "flaw" by taking away the legitimate strength of the one other character who's CRUCIAL to the original story this series is based on.
More of Rachel trying to give lip service to the myths to sound smart even though it literally makes everything fall apart
Right, and this is such a massive plothole that happens TWICE within their respective episodes
This one time Rachel described her writing process as that scene from the Simpsons where Homer Simpson tried to force two jigsaw pieces together, and frankly, I think we should have taken that blatant foreshadowing more seriously because it's clear she's just trying to make circles fit in square holes with the mess that is this narrative.
And yeah, presumably the series is gonna end by mid 2024 so the estimates right now pin the series ending in 15-20 episodes, 30 tops. I have no clue how she's going to wrap all this up when she's still establishing new things. Even experienced professional writers wouldn't bother with trying to save this wreckage as it is, it would literally be sent back to the drawing board, but it's being left up to Rachel who's NOT an experienced writer to figure out how to end it on the fly. We're not in for a good time with this LMAO

So what if I told y'all that this is actually a "Moon's paranoia" arc? And what if showrunners hint that Sun will try to help or reach out to Eclipse behind Moon's back.. and they hint that with Moon's words that he trust Sun?
Cause let me tell you something. I've watched many shows and movies to know that this line reminds me of that type of foreshadowing in which one character says "we'll meet again" but they never had the chance to meet again because that other character dies. You know what I mean, right?
So with Moon saying that he trusts Sun - it's not the first time when he says that btw cause he told Earth that he trusts Sun with his life - and Moon being more and more paranoid, I have a heavy suspicion that Moon will stop trusting even Sun..
But ofc it won't be like that that Moon will abandon Sun or anything like that.. He most definitely will be mad at Sun.. but I think that this is what may lead to Moon locking Sun on the island..
Moon really acts paranoid. Some of you may not believe me but what Moon is doing is something that paranoid person would do. What I mean is that Moon devides what informations he shares with whom. No one receives full picture. Only Moon holds all the cards all the time.
Cause look at what he did. He decided to not tell any info to Solar at the moment, right? He did the same thing with not telling anything to Sun and Lunar before. But he eventually told them everything, right? Yes and this is another thing that hints to Moon being paranoid.. because he is the one who always shares things with others. It let's him feel in control of situation.
"Everything is fine as long as I keep my finger on the pulse"..
Getting back to Moon locking Sun on the island. Moon would obviously think that this would be the best for Sun. To keep Sun safe. Even from Sun himself.. or maybe especially from Sun himself.. because remember what I wrote in this post !
I think that everything is adding up nicely. Like many people were wondering about the purpose of Evil Sun's appearance in the show, thinking that maybe he's behind Eclipse's return. But it doesn't make any sense because E Sun doesn't have any agenda to meddle with our dimension. There weren't given any hints that our dimension has anything to offer to E Sun (yet, obvi lol)..
That's why I think that they made Moon go there so he could get paranoid for legit reasons and not out of the blue. Also it's important to do a good build up for rising paranoia in character for it to be more believable..
And most of the time paranoia is piling up before it'll reach a critical point when person snaps and starts doing things that endangers their and their family lives. It never starts right off the bat..
Paranoia is no joke. It messes with your mind badly.. especially if you feed your paranoid thoughts!
I'm saying that from personal experiences. I'm still struggling with paranoid thoughts. Who's read that one post of mine then knows what I'm talking about 😅
Also it might be actually just like @nightixx (hope you don't mind that I tagged you) said in one of their posts that Moon is probably realising to what lengths Sun is willing to go to protect his family. Maybe Moon actually sees that Sun can and would probably put himself in danger in order to keep his family safe. And maybe Moon actually suspect Sun to act behind his back and maybe even he may suspect that Sun may try to give Eclipse a chance just like he did with BM.
Cause Moon isn't stupid. He might not be the best with reading emotions etc but I won't doubt that he is quite observant. Like even Old Moon was noticing that something was wrong with Sun but unfortunately he didn't do much to help.
I think that New Moon is probably noticing that something is wrong with Sun as well. But unlike Old Moon he'll do something about it. He'll keep Sun safe no matter what. And why I think that Moon may be suspecting that Sun may try to give Eclipse a chance? Because I think that in Moon's eyes Sun is too nice, too naive, too stupid - he learned that in Ruin's dimension when Sun wanted to help that dimension so badly and he learned that with how Sun tried to give BM a chance.. Both of these situations were dangerous and yet Sun was willing to help and act on his kindness even if it meant endangering himself.. Moon sees that. I think that Moon realises that Sun is the biggest threat to himself...
Also I think that it's very possible that Moon may suspect that Sun will act behind his back because Sun already lied to him about that whole being a conduit for star's power thing which like Moon said was killing Sun every day..
And important thing to note is that paranoia may induce a hypervigilance in someone. Which explains why someone who is paranoid plans things in advance and with suspicion that others will break their trust.
Old Moon was paranoid af.. and we can see that New Moon starts becoming more and more paranoid as well...
But like I said it'll most definitely end up with Moon restricting Sun's freedom in order to prevent him from endangering himself. Which I'm afraid will lead to a tragedy.

I generally stay out of any discourse but there's one thing I read that makes me feel like I'm losing my mind and since I've been in love with your Good Omens meta since season 1 I figure you might help me shed some light on the issue.
I've read in a post that Crowley only stops Elspeth from offing herself because Aziraphale inspired him to do so with his own attempts to save Elspeth's soul and I feel this is...canonically incorrect? Like, not ambiguous or free for interpretation but literally canonically incorrect. The point of the minisode was foreshadowing on Aziraphale's lack of...not understanding of but willingness to accept Heaven's cruelty. It's Crowley who always jumps in first to sace everyone: Siti when she's about to curse God, the humans at the ball, Maggie and Nina when Saraquiel wants to turn them into pillars of salt.
Am I losing my mind or is the take about Aziraphale being the reason for Crowley rescuing Elspeth absolutely not canon? Because I fear if it was, I'd thoroughly misunderstood Crowley's entire character. The whole point is that he is good, that he protects and saves the innocent, without having to be inspired or prompted to do it, right?
I'd be very much obliged if you could shed some light on that for me 😅
I'm gonna level with you, I don't know who Elspeth is, or have recollection of Crowley saving her, or whether Aziraphale did or did not influence anything. I watched S2 once and went "ah, it's not finished, no thank you. I will await the finish before I engage again" and set it gently and lovingly back down. Through this method, I generally avoid wank like whether or not Crowley was influenced by Aziraphale to do a thing I don't remember anything about to a person I equally may as well never have met.
But, if I may say this, you're allowed to have a different headcanon to someone else. Heck, you're allowed to have a different headcanon than anyone else. You are allowed to interpret canon in a complete 180 way from someone else, and can do so without worrying about what they think happened, because the characters are fictional and canon is merely a corpse whose pockets we rifle through for loose beliefs the moment we're finished consuming it. Make your own post about how you think it went, there are bound to be people who agree with you. Maybe you'll find them, maybe you won't. Won't know til you try.
Good luck out there friend!

Hello again I was the one who asked u the s3 question and now I have finished watching the finale and tbh I have so many emotions going on right now but the main thing I want to know is - was Will aware that shit will go that way or did he plan Hannibal escape or he was just going with the flow?? What was the endgame he wanted to have ? I am confused because his plan doesn't seem like a solid plan. He also warned Bedelia before all that . So like what was happening in the finale 😅😅😅
I think we can't try to rationalize actions that were bordering on insane. Bedelia clocked that when she said "what you are becoming is pathological". She is arguably the most intelligent and perceptive character in the show, so we know she's absolutely right about this. "You found religion", she says. Will is not close to normal or sane in this last part of the series, and this show has that element of "long term foreshadowing", so things that happened in season one, only made sense in season two and so on, and unfortunately they were almost certain they'd be getting a 4th season, so I'm pretty sure most questions would be answered there :/.
But, I think it's safe to say they were prepping us for a completely insane Will Graham, since Fuller said in season four it would be "Will Graham's broken mind".
I believe his actions were already mirroring this brokenness, so it's hard to try and make sense of them, he was acting carelessly.
But we do have interesting insights from the script that could help us answer your question:
Tumblr media
Here we see that Will is shattered and incomplete. This is when Francis gets him in the hotel room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here we understand that Will is mirroring a scene where Francis burned down his shrine. Both he and Hannibal are lighting up votive candles. This isn't random, no writer would waste time putting such specific detail and then making sure this was on the scene, for no reason or aesthetic reasons (aesthetics would not be on the script unless it had symbolic meaning, notice how they never write the coloring of the show, the way they light up Mads' face to look like a skull, etc, those are aesthetic choices and do not need to be specified on script in such detailed manner).
VOTIVE in all caps is very meaningful, too. For those who don't know, this is what votive candles mean:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both of them are lighting votives. At the altar.
Then, we have this line that Will says to Reba, about Francis:
Tumblr media
This is basically foreshadowing of the cliff scene/dragon fight. This is exactly what both Will and Hannibal feel about one another.
And just before he executes the plan, we have this great exchange with Bedelia:
Tumblr media
He had no clue what he truly wanted. All he wanted was to free Hannibal. The rest was just happening. To him, Hannibal could've simply escaped after Francis shot the police. He asked Will to come. Will had no idea of the existence of the cliff house or anything like that, so he couldn't have predicted exactly what happened.
It's the exact same picture of an addict. If you spend a long time in abstinence, then you use, it hits harder than before and the recovery becomes even more difficult. He spent three years without Hannibal, "was it good to see me?", "Good? No." It was not good, it fucked him up. He was losing his mind and we see that in scenes where he's beginning to hallucinate again and is gradually being more affected by the Dragon's "energy"/idea.
He also threatened Bedelia, "I'd pack my bags if I were you". He had the intention of releasing Hannibal and all hell breaks loose after that. He had no specific plan other than setting H free and watching everything burn down.

911 Spoilers Season 2: You’ve been warned. 😅
Episode 8-10
Episode 8
• Buck talks down woman who is upset with her husband, Norman, who isn’t giving her enough attention, after she points a gun at him.
• Eddie is watching this interaction right below him. He’s also overhearing their conversation that includes Buck accepting that Abby is never coming back and having to get over her.
Buck and Eddie continue to have this life/ death experiences, while also navigating their love life’s. I really felt bad for Buck during this scene because it was obviously that he only recently started to process that Abby is gone. This rescue is also the origin of Buck wanting to be seen.
• Buck talks to Bobby by the engine about the rescue. Makes it clear that he finally accepts that Abby is gone and that he’ll be okay.
• Buck goes out as a single man with Chim. Buck discusses wanting to upgrade to Buck 2.0. A better version of Buck that’s moved on from Abby.
• Buck reminiscences about his old single days.
• Chim invited Maddie with out telling Buck. Buck becomes third wheel. While left alone, Taylor makes an appearance and buys him a drink.
• Buck and Taylor hook up in the bar bathroom after having a conversation about restraint. This happens all while Chim and Maddie are singing karaoke.
This scene in general really show cases how lonely Buck is and how he feels he’s lost his identity. He wants to improve, but easily falls back into old habits.
• Buck tells Bobby about his hook up. He’s dissecting the situation and explains that he feels bad/weird about the it.
This really small interaction between Bobby and Buck is one of my favorite Father and Son bonding scenes. Buck is being vulnerable and Bobby is setting him straight, while making a quick joke. I also need to give the director or the person who edited the scene a big hug, because as Buck is talking about his mess of a love life the camera cuts to Eddie not once but twice. It’s subtle and I may be delusional, but it’s there.
• Buck asks Taylor out on a “real” date. She denies it but they hook up in news van (or at least they start too)
•Rescue with newlyweds. No particular Buddie moment, but Buck and Eddie are the primary firefighters trying to pull them out of the vehicle.
• Buck hangs out with Chim and Maddie again. They address his sex life and lack of love life. Chim tells him that by going after Taylor he is basically dating Buck 1.0. Buck points out that Chim and Maddie are actually dating, but are in denial. Buck receives suspicious call asking him out to coffee. In that moment I believed it was Taylor, but we later find out it was actually Ally.
• The emergency with the old gay couple that were celebrating their anniversary and had a scrap book of their lives together, breaks my heart every time. It also likely foreshadows Buck and Eddie growing old together.
• Buck gets the love advice of "You don't find it. You make it"
• Buck calling for Eddie first when the old man was found unresponsive. After CPR fails, Buck notices the couple holding hands. Buck states, “That is love.”
I whole heartedly believe that this emergency has helped shape what Buck is looking for when it comes to love. He’s found true love. Still he’s not fully understanding that you don’t search for it. Jumping a head to Season 6, this mirrors Eddie’s search for love. I’ll probably go into more details when I get to that episode/season.
• Montage of all posside romances. Buck reaches out to Ally. They go out for a coffee date. Ally mentioning Eddie in the first few moments of their date. Ally stating, “Maybe I should have called Eddie instead.”
I like to pretend this is the writers very subtle way of stating Buck should have called Eddie. 😏
Episode 9
Hen Begins ❤️ An amazing episode, but no Buddie content.
Episode 10
• Buck annoys the hell out of Chimney as his roomate, moves in with Maddie.
• Eddie and Shannon hookup, and apparently have been hooking up for a while. Chris is brought home early and unknowingly has the possibility of seeing his mother for the first time in forever. Eddie decides that this is not the time for a reunion and has Shannon hide. Making Shannon out as a shameful secret.
I will say Shannon and Eddie’s dynamic and situation is really weird, given the fact that they are still technically married. That was practically a shitty situation to be in, but I also understand it not being the best time to reintroduce her to Chris.
• Eddie is afraid of Santa.
• Shannon makes a dramatic entrance and announces that they are sleeping together, in front of Chimney and Buck. Both Chimney and Buck pretend not to have heard the statement and uncomfortably look away.
• Eddie establishes that he can’t trust his wife and that being the reason why she can’t see Chris yet.
Eddie at this point has made it really clear that he loves Chris and will do anything to protect him. We see this more as the seasons continue, but him not trusting the woman that created and cared for Chris in the beginning when he was gone, is a little wild. I think Eddie is justified in his feelings, but he is being a little harsh. I think this moment in specific is very important to capture and break down because we can use Eddie’s relationship with Shannon as a foil to Eddie’s relationship with Buck, specifically pertaining to their involvement with Christopher.
• Buck becomes overly concerned and seemingly obsessed with Eddie's circumstances and is eagerly trying to discuss what just happened with Chimney.
• Buck and Eddie take Christopher to go see Santa. Eddie is as far away from Santa as he could possibly be, by sitting with Buck at the water fountain.
• Buck admires Christopher and vocalizes this to Eddie. Eddie suspects that Buck really wants to say something the whole Shannon situation.
• Eddie feels like he needs to justify sleeping with his wife to Buck. Buck seems to easily understand Eddie’s thought process and doesn’t judge him for it. Eddie becoming extremely vulnerable and revealing how he’s failed Chris, similarly to the way Shannon has failed Chris. Eddie admits to being confused about his relationship status with his wife.
The conversation Buck and Eddie have at this water fountain is very intense and vulnerable. I honestly believe that the conversation they are having should have been the conversation Eddie has with Shannon directly. This scene show cases a level of trust Buck and Eddie have developed since first meeting.
• Elf walks up to Buck and assumes Buck and Eddie are together as a gay couple with a child. She saw those two men and thought “gay”! 😂 That elf is the embodiment of all Buddie Shippers.
• The Bus emergency with the Marine. After rescuing those involved the 118 takes the Marine to his daughter’s school for her performance. There is a mutual understanding between Eddie and this Marine. Buck and Eddie cry at the marines reunion with his daughter.
• Eddie finally allows Shannon and Christopher to reunite. Very cute and heartwarming moment.
Now that Season 7 is quickly approaching, I’m going to challenge myself to transcribe all my notes and upload them on Mondays-Thursdays before the Season 7 premiere. I finished my rewatch, just have to go through my notes and transcribe them all. No promises that I’ll actually get this done in time, but I will actually try.
All my notes from Season 2 should be posted by this Wednesday.

WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO UPDATE FFTD AGAIN IVE BEEN DYING SINCE NOVEMBER 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 i have a serious emotional attachment to that fic now n idk what’s gonna happen when it’s finished 😓😓
OMFG HAS IT REALLY BEEN SINCE NOVEMBER??? I'M SO SORRY!
I knew it had been awhile but time has been...nonexistent to me over here for the past few months. I'm lucky if I remember the day of the week lately 😅😅
You'll be happy to hear it is the fic I'm currently working on right now because it's flowing out of me. I'm probably about halfway through getting a rough draft written, but I'll probably be editing and updating Break the Tension before I share FFTDs next update once I get it written--assuming my brain doesn't just crap out on me before I can finish writing it. I've been on a roll this week with writing and have almost 3 drafts written alone this week now, though. So that's hopefully a good sign!
But I do hope you're all ready for this Second Angst Arc foreshadowing you're about to all be punched in the gut with in this next installment...
I love hearing that y'all still love this series so much, you have no idea ❤❤😭😭 If it makes you feel better, I too have a serious emotional attachment to FFTD, so I don't plan to end it anytime soon! It is my favorite Matt fic (and honestly favorite fic in general) that I have. And tomorrow is actually the series' first birthday 😭😭😭

Update
Hi, everyone! 🤗
I know I haven't been as chatty in private messages lately. It's not that I don't want to talk (you're all wonderful friends, wherever our relationship falls on the friendship spectrum). I have less emotional energy available for social interactions as my health recovery journey continues. Some people get more of me at times, and a different group of people get more of me at others. But you're all here: my ❤️.
I had my latest follow-up with my surgeon today, and we discussed what will eventually happen. I've got two surgeries to look forward to, not just one (surprise, me!), but it makes sense, and they'll only be four to six weeks apart.
I'm not physically ready for them yet, though, so I'll see him again next spring.
I'm doing really well with my physical therapy. It's time to bump it up a notch! My legs are strong. My balance is great. My right shoulder unfroze a few months ago, and I'm continuing to work on my arm's range of motion (it's already so much better).
My surgical wound is 3/4 the size it was six months ago. From the Grand Canyon to a skinny fish? Snake? Eel? 😅
There are other details, but I've shared more personal info on my blog ever since I survived death than I have before. I am a very private person, but sharing my journey with you has been helpful -- and since I'd just disappeared when I went to the hospital, which understandably worried a lot of you, I want to keep you informed.
(My mom shared with me today that when I went to the emergency room the third time, the surgeon said to her and my dad -- and me, but I have no memory of it -- that I had an hour, maybe two, to live if I didn't have surgery to remove my colon.)
On the T7S fanworks front, I've spent a few hours on the remaining comics I've drawn. I've got a whole episode to post eventually. The dialogue boxes are all there. I "only" need to place and size the zillion of them.
Happily, I've found I can write quite efficiently on my tablet using my stylus. I've moved on from lightly revising (and refamiliarizing myself with) Those Who Play with Demons to writing new material for it. I'm on the second-to-last section (out of twenty-three sections). Each section has anywhere from two to ... eleven chapters (thus far 🤭).
This story is going to be 120 chapters at the minimum. But it's organized in such a way that each section is self-contained while also being part of the overall narrative. Character development, plot, foreshadowing, and mysteries galore!
Also demons. 😱

So last month I started watching I'm in Love with the Villainess.
Tumblr media
I'll be honest, I wasn’t too sure about this show going into it. I ultimately didn't like the last Yuri Isekai series I watched (The Magical Revolution), and I've gotten fatigued over yuri adaptations never being finished after getting a one season anime adaptation.
I won't lie that I enjoyed it right away. I do not like the opening music (I skip the OP every episode, which is incredibly rare for me) and I was initially put off by Rae & Claire's actions in episode 1. But I stuck with it, was really surprised by episode 3 directly addressing Rae being a lesbian and touching on the struggles of being queer and dealing with homophobia, and by episode 5 I was so impatient to learn what happened next that I bought the 1st Light Novel.
Tumblr media
Well, it took me about a week to burn through the first 2 volumes of the LN and the Revolution storyline and honestly I was blown away. It touched on topics I never would've expected when I started the show last month. The depictions of the struggles faced by queer people were already hitting close to home, but then the 2nd volume blindsided me by touching on gender dysphoria and there were moments that brought me to tears.
Since I assume the anime is only going to be 12-13 episodes, I sincerely hope that Wataoshi gets a 2nd season to adapt the entirely of the Revolution Arc, but I won't get my hopes up. Like I said earlier, most Yuri adaptations never get more than a season, and I would be shocked if a 2nd season was greenlit that would tackle the queer issues present in the 2nd volume of the light novel.
(Seriously, if angry hets and bigots were freaking out over the conversation about Rae being a lesbian in episode 3, they will lose their fucking minds over some of the stuff later on in the series.)
If they do make a 2nd season and adapt it without punting on the queer issues, I could definitely see I'm in Love with the Villainess being among my favorite anime. I wasn't expecting the first 2 volumes to be a self-contained story, and since I was so satisfied with the ending, I'm not in a hurry to start reading the 3rd volume (and I've heard mixed things about the 2nd part of the story).
In the meantime I've started reading the manga adaptation and I'm rewatching episodes of the anime to catch foreshadowing I missed. My wife is officially complaining that I'm almost as obsessed with it as I was G-Witch 😅

I feel really bad for the originator of the Ashford theory, reading those posts you screencapped. It's not a 'crack theory' (unless they're putting it down because Jonsas took a serious hold of it), since structural foreshadowing is a basic storytelling tool. Hiding poetry in history, which seems a past-time GRRM particularly enjoys--- it's not just there to be there, but to lesson us in reading the past and make us understand the current story more deeply.
We should be confident in our analyses, regardless of whether we share a ship in common (I am do believe in Jonsa, but this goes for everyone), because storytelling can generally be trusted to be intentional. Anybody who wants to act like being incurious is more intellectually justifiable because it's less emotionally fraught is not worth spending time on. It is actually disappointing when stories are not considered and thoughtful (which is not a testament to so-called 'complexity'; The Little Prince is considered and thoughtful)--- fault in reading too much into things usually lay in perspective, less in doubt of substance.
Then again, Originator of Ashord Theory being possessive as claimant probably points more to dismissing it as crack because other people have taken ahold of it in a way they didn't like. If I am perfectly honest, were it not them having noticed it, someone else would have later (and someone else on Reddit did).
It's exactly the sort of thing I look for when I am engaging in a story because it is a tool I see used often. It was what attracted me to Jonsa, not that I was looking for evidence.
(about this ask)
The issue definitely wasn’t a lack of confidence in their own reading, they’re a tumblr BNF! I think Jonsas have written so much about it and so convincingly, it’s become widely viewed as a Jonsa theory and eclipsed the original intent which is their problem with it. Sometime ago someone shared an AltShift video here (a YouTube BNF), and he had included the Ashford Tourney as evidence for Jonsa, so I do think the goal of the blogger now labeling it “crack” is to detract from the Jonsa of it/for shipping reasons, not because they don’t believe in their own work.
As for the broader idea, I certainly agree that pre canon characters and events are written to add depth to the canon events. We can all expect that and look for parallels and contrasts with assurance that they are conversing with each other. It seems to me that every part of the fandom attempts that in some way, we simply come to different conclusions about what those things mean. I can look at something and accept a Jonsa interpretation but also understand, there’s another factor here too. And while I agree that many things are intentional in ASOIAF, I’m also aware that things can subconsciously influence and slip into a work. I recently watched this clip of Spielberg being told, he didn’t recognize this on his own, that he had included his parents love story in a film. Anyone might think, it had to be deliberate, but it wasn’t!
So, not saying anyone should be less confident, I just think it’s good to be aware that after a parallel is recognized, our interpretation of it is where we can all take off in different directions. For example, Jonnel and Sansa is perhaps the most beloved Jonsa foreshadowing (if it isn’t the Ashford Tourney 😅), and I absolutely think it’s groundwork for canon events. The question isn’t if it is, but how. Will it be a parallel, only, the point of the marriage this go around is to right a wrong? Give the girl her home back? (If say, Robb’s Will is recognized). I’ve questioned that simply because it seems like a big task to get everyone on board with Jon being legitimate and becoming their Lord and/or their King only to have them then immediately turn around and all accept he’s actually a Targ and will marry his “sister.” I wouldn’t be mad if that’s what Martin did, but when I think about how much agency he likes to give non POV characters, I’m a little skeptical he’d pull that turnaround off.
So then I think, well, maybe the idea is that unlike Jonnel, Jon will refuse Winterfell again and insist it is Sansa’s again only to ultimately be rewarded in the end by marrying her when she has the power to choose, and she chooses him? People have been very outspoken about how dumb they think the idea of Sansa being QitN is, and maybe that’s too much of a leap for the North because Martin does like his realism, but considering all the female heirs talk going on, Martin is certainly going to say something there, and Jon will have some complicating factors that might make Sansa more favorable to people.
Basically, Jon is a good person, he’ll do right by the Starks, is that the entire point? Look at the way the older generation of men treated women, this generation will be better? Or will Martin use the extraordinary circumstances to benefit Sansa / female heirs? Create an entirely new normal for the North? The story will talk to itself, but what exactly is it saying? That we can endlessly debate!

Okay, so I was working right now on a list of every time Sherlock's love for bees comes up in Elementary (don't ask how I fell down that rabbit hole 😅) and while going over the show's scripts, I came across something that I just have to tell someone 'case wtf was that tiny foreshadowing! Basically, in the first scene of s3ep20, Hannah meets up with Watson to ask for her help with a case, and while Joan's waiting for her to arrive at the station, we get to see a phone call between Joan and Sherlock where he did something (with the bees actually) which means that Watson now can't go home until he fixes it and also that broke her beloved table during all of that, so when she gets off the call she has this chat with Hannah-
Watson *sighs*: "Do you have a roommate?" Hannah: "Nah." Watson: "Don't get one. Ever."
and like, at that time it's a total throwaway line, right, but oh my god does that hit differently after the whole Hannah and her roommate plotline in season 6
