I know the whole sperm donor thing is a terrible idea for Buck and everything, but it’s so important to me how Conner did it. Like, he’s someone who knew Buck when he was Buck 1.0, and hasn’t spoken to Buck in years, hasn’t known him through his character development or who he’s become. He knew Buck as one of (in Buck’s own opinion) the worst versions of himself, and said that he thought he was an amazing man. He sat there and listed the desirable qualities that Buck had back then, qualities that he wanted his ideal and perfect child to grow up to have, and not a single one of them was physical. Buck going through with the donation might be a terrible idea, but I think that being asked is something that could be really good for him. This is because while Conner might’ve asked something he shouldn’t give, he still asked for the right reasons. The inherent nature of the task is for Buck to use his body for the purpose of someone else, which digs into his past with hook ups and his childhood and Daniel, but this is different. All those other times he was asked to use his body purely because of what his body could provide. This time he was asked not because his body was desirable, but because his personality was. Idk, it’s just something about someone who knew Buck 1.0, and not even that well, seeing him in a positive and desirable light because of his personality and not his body. Like even in season one, we see Hen, Bobby, and Chim acknowledge that Buck was a good guy, but struggling to get past the Buck 1.0 of it all. And we saw women, including both the therapist and Abby, who saw Buck’s most if not his only desirable quality as his body. However, here’s someone else who only ever knew him as Buck 1.0, and who saw all the desirable qualities Buck had and listed them. He named all these qualities that even the 118 back then would’ve hesitated to list so easily. It makes me wonder how unreliable the viewpoint of Buck was in season one, if Conner was the only one who saw this or if maybe that’s just how Buck perceived that others perceived him. Also, the fact that these qualities are what Conner desires for his future child, versus a child Buck who possessed these qualities and was still never wanted by his parents. Who STILL isn’t wanted by his parents even though he’s done a lot of self growth and these qualities are far more at the forefront than before. It’s just something that could really drive home the idea that Buck was enough, Evan was enough, he was always enough™️. That it was actually his parents that were the problem, that he was a good kid and a good man, even at his “worst”, one that, as Conner is proving by asking, any parents would be lucky to have/raise. I just think that while it’s important that we focus on what is being asked of Buck and why it’s bad that he said yes, that it’s important that we also focus on Why he’s being asked and how it could be good for him that he was asked at all. I also think it lends to pre-canon, and s1 characterisations of Buck, and the idea that we saw how some of the 118 and his hook-ups perceived him, but that that isn’t everyone.

I know about 9-1-1 and Buck through TikTok first (pls don’t judge me, I have a bit too much time in my hands and they’re all over my fly) and no words could describe how confused I was when I actually watch its s1 and met Buck 1.0

The sweet, adorable, whole some golden is now a straight-up menace to this goddamn society and needed to have a big ass warning sign before approaching (affectionately)

Along with all things that had been thrown into my face in only the first ep, the shell shock was fucking real. I was NOT prepared to deal with all of that in my first time watching the show.

That man in s1 for me is the epitome of a walking red flag despite many of his sweet sweet little details.

But now, after binge watched into s6, seeing his character development at its finest. Sometimes, I wish to see 1.0 play boy Buck have a brief cameo, just for comedic relief.
