Sidon pushes a claw into his cheek. It's his index. The claw is blunt, clipped and filed as soon as he heard that Link was back. The Hero is home! the youths had trilled as soon as they'd seen him coming down the path to the bridge. Sidon had left his work immediately and gone to his attendant.

He tries the middle next; it’s just as dull. He'd look foolish – more foolish – if he tried any others. All his claws are rounded, harmless. It had been such a time since he'd seen Link that for a moment he'd considered inviting his attendant's diamond file into his mouth, ready to live with the judgement such a grand gesture would have brought on. Sidon, ruler of the Zora, soft-hearted, smooth-toothed, prey for Hyrule's hero.

But this is real and Robin's exhausted and there's nothing so fancy as Scotch in the house, so they go to the kitchen and Nancy makes toast while Robin sits at the kitchen table with her head in her hands, still in her t-shirt and underwear. She's so tired she almost falls asleep there, comforted by the sounds of someone taking care of her: the whoosh and jangle of every cupboard and drawer being opened, the hum of the old toaster, the tap of a plastic cup on the countertop, the scrape of a butter knife on bread.

"Here," Nancy says finally. Robin lifts her head out of her hands to see Nancy in front of her looking like a dream: hair up in a ponytail, baggy sleeves pushed to her elbow, plate of toast in one hand, cup of apple juice in the other.

"I could kiss you," Robin says accidentally.
