Ok one more post about natural fiber clothes 'cause I just get so many (sometimes quite nice, sometimes not very nice) requests for such things lately:

So I may release some test items through Witch Vamp at some point soonish whenever I have anything good enough to at least put into a sample sale, but I want to start warning everyone now that ultimately natural fiber clothing might end up under a totally separate "sister brand" and not stay a part of Witch Vamp itself.

I think the price point, audience, average customer, and selling points will be different enough (even if there's plenty of crossover at first) that I strongly suspect natural fiber clothing items would do better with their own branding. Recently this hunch of mine was backed up by a business mentor I've just started meeting with, who immediately said "you might want to think about starting another brand for that" when I mentioned that figuring out natural fiber options for clothing is one of the big goals I want to tackle next.

It would still just be me & my bf running both shops, so that means we need to be sure we can handle Witch Vamp with time, money, energy, and braincells to spare before moving forward with a second brand. Just another factor to keep in mind, but I hope you'll all look forward to my new brand venture if & when it does happen!!

I never finished uploading Future Talk onto AO3 due to [many and varied reasons].

Should I finish uploading it? Is there any interest in reading that story on that platform?

One of the aforementioned [many and varied reasons] is that I don't particularly enjoy reading the story anymore, though I respect it as a monument to my writing history and growth. I'd like to know if the time and energy necessary to edit and repost that beast of a work would be wellspent, insofar as it would make at least a few of you happy to see the story transferred.

I know, I know. Just hear me out. You play as four different versions of Shaggy and Scooby; Get A Clue, OG series, Mystery Incorporated, and 13 Ghosts. Each with their own set of abilities connected to their series and things connected to them which working to save their worlds.

Found out this weekend that my parents are seriously considering moving back to Taiwan to live out the rest of their retirement - they had talked about it before, years ago, but then dropped it, so I thought it was no longer an option and instead I focused more on reshaping my plans, priorities, and outlook to accommodate a future where we'd have to take more and more responsibility over them and their house as they got older.

Now it seems like all of that was kind of unnecessary, because they're talking about moving into a condo on the other side of the world within 2 years, while my husband's family have already expressed an interest in moving away as well. If both sides really do relocate, we'd have fewer ties keeping us in the midwest, opening up a wealth of options for our next move.

(And on top of that, I had already accepted that I'd need to find a new job earlier this year, so why not start over completely? I could always change industries, I'm not particularly attached to my current one...)

Lots to think about (almost too much considering the persistent existential crisis I've had hanging around 🙃), but thankfully we don't have to make any sort of decisions just yet, and we'll have plenty of time to consider our options. I'll definitely need it, since my wheels haven't stopped spinning for days - equal parts exciting and overwhelming, my thoughts are still struggling to keep up with shifting future plans and a sudden abundance of possibility 🫨

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

In our not so far future I think long sleeve shirts and long dresses will have a full revival.

Already we're seeing cotton become more boogie classic old wealth as the material becomes rarer.

So hear me out. Very soon it will be so hot bare skin is going to be very, very common. Out of nessecity and survival.

The only people who can wear long sleeve cotton in the summer are the wealthy. Lounging in air conditioner buildings built for them indirectly and retreating to shaded concrete eco homes.

The european elections are showing: we have a nazi problem. We have a massive shift to the right. Not only Germany. It is a collective problem. France, Austria, Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Portugal, Hungary.

Talk to people. Talk about politics. Talk about right winged receivables. Try to talk about the bullshit and nonsense. I don't think people realize what they are voting for.

"Future Talk" Editing Log

Some thoughts as I edit Future Talk.

1/25/2024, Chapters 17/18:

Revisiting this work after so many years, I can see how my writing has improved since I wrote those early chapters. There's a lot of filler language like "I saw, I felt, I heard," which I'm omitting as I go. But for the work of a literal teenager (I was 19 when I started writing the story), I'm honestly impressed at how the language is holding up. It's not nearly as bad I expected.

I'm also doing my best to rewrite parts to omit song lyrics, both for copyright purposes and because it just feels... amateurish? Their inclusion takes me out of the narrative. The songs themselves and the "musical moments," so to speak, are staying put.

I also dislike the device of thinking in italics. I am eliminating those moments so the narrative flows more seamlessly, though without sacrificing Dani's colorful internal monologue.

I forgot how lively Dani is. Realizing, slowly, that I missed her.

I forgot how much I used to dislike contractions. Finding quite a few instances where no contraction is used, but if I was writing the story today, I would absolutely use one.

Will update with more tales from the editing suite as they arise.
