oopsie. I meant your tags ranting about fanon Jason and I was like. What is wrong with Jason as a character and why is he on a hill. I mostly read that post as a critique of Batman not Jason

OHH. I was talking about the trend in fanon to have Jason as the Bat-associated character representing the oppressed, often in lieu of characters of color who would better fit that role. And how this has spread into actual canon now, with writers being forced to include Jason in order to write these storylines, as in Red Hood: The Hill. The Hill being a part of Gotham explicitly heavily affected by racism and police brutality, which was originally introduced alongside a hero named Orpheus as his territory, in Batman: Orpheus Rising.

And this is Orpheus in Orpheus Rising talking to Batman about how he "can't be everything to everyone", which is something that should apply to Jason for the exact same reasons.

Orpheus was killed in War Games, and hasn't been brought back in any subsequent reboots of canon. They've just given his home to Jason, more or less.

None of which is a fault of Jason's per se, just blatant racism in fandom and the comics industry.

WE ARE ROBIN 3.0

30 years into the batman's carrier the We Are Robin movement has decreased since its original formation six years ago, nonetheless, the youths of Gotham still come out to protect its nest.

This iteration of the team consists of three previous members who have stayed to mentor and give support to the five new recruits.

Shug-R mostly just does the hacking and planning but if needed she also acts as a field medic, since she joined the oracles her job became way easier.

Daxton Chill aka Alt is the mechanic/tech support for the team but unfortunately that makes him the least active member on the team during missions.

Isabella Ortiz aka redbird co-leaders with Shug-R, she is romantically involved with the leader of the Gotham Knights.

Nathan and Michael Hook have been both a pain in the ass and a blessing to Orpheus and Onyx for their incredible inventions, that intrigued Dax and he decided to give them a chance and, well, when four superheroes give you a thumbs up you can't say no.

Dexter Dent is the son of ex-supervillain Harvey Dent and [REDACTED], his father is VERY agonist of him being a vigilante even tho the hypocrite himself is one now, on an unrelated note the penguin seems quite fond of the lad.

Tiffany Fox has been surrounded by heroes all her life with you would think it meant she would have an easier time getting into the hero game but noooo it couldn't be so easy... Her Brother's solution was to put her with these kids as a compromise.

Aurora or as she likes to be called, hoopoe, hopes to one day become a great hero just like Bryne is.

Like any self-respecting superhero team they have their own headquarters called the nest, this one given to them as a first outing gift by Tim Drake who owned it first. Their range extends from the Hill all the way up to Robbinsville, when they patrol it's not unusual to team up with the night shift and the Gotham knights but they also find themselves paired with fennec fox of all people most of the time.

NOTE: for those who don't know who Nathan, Michael and Aurora are the first 2 appear in batman: black & white vol 2 #6 and DC power 2024 while Aurora is from batman: the brave and the bold 2023 #6-7-8, also the DCPU tag is to navigate my dc universe and We Are Robin 2.0-4.0 are placed in different points in the timeline so I don't wanna use them yet.

Hobie Brown: Do people know about Hobie Brown? Yes, as of ATSV especially. Do people know about The Prowler? Absolutely. Do people know about Earth-616 Hobie Brown, The Prowler? (and I guess he's Hornet now but its. Honestly kinda really bullshit I'm ignoring that.) NO THEY DON'T. AND THEY SHOULD. He's like if Batman was awesome. Sorry Batman fans. He's Spider-Man's awesome friend who generally wants to be a normal guy and support his community in a normal way but keeps on having insane shit happen to him so like, having an alter ego in his back pocket to occasionally assume is useful. His older brother is a martial arts teacher who wants him to actually like learn how to fight correctly and then hes like uhh... I'll just invent a new thing haha. He's obscure on purpose. He has been mistaken for Moon Knight. His shit gets stolen like three times by ppl making the Prowler into a villain again which makes Aaron Davis Prowler really really ironic. PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HIM after ATSV I'm so worried that he'll never appear as The Prowler again. Most of his 2010s appearances have been kinda weak and having him be Hornet is not really helping because they really did invent the fact that he was doing bad things as The Prowler. Not true. You made that up. I'm losing my mind over here.

Orpheus (Gavin Basil King)

A rival to both his cousin Conner Hawke and his childhood friend Duke Thomas, Gavin’s father was one of John King’s illegitimate children, while his mother was the daughter of Axel Brass (better known as Doc Savage). Originally trained as dancer, he combined his dancing with martial arts and a high tech suit to become the celebrity vigilante Orpheus. His singing career was cut short when Black Mask slit his throat, though he was quickly rescued by his benefactor: Manhunter, Agent of Leviathan, the creators of the Orpheus suit.

Notes: I've wanted to do Orpheus for a while, but couldn't really crack him. Connecting him to both John King and Axel Brass is admittedly a pretty big reach, but the surnames match up (Basil Brass was a pseudonym Gavin used once, idk) and part of Gavin's lack of irl staying power was his disconnection from the wider DCU, so.

The Leviathan thing is a reference to the Legends crossover, where a supporting character in pretty much every DC book at the time was revealed to be a Manhunter agent (including Wally's dad). I just combined that with the unnamed secret society that gave Gavin the Orpheus suit in the first place.

Taylor Barzelay (Galaxy) and Jon Kent (Superman) in A-Town

Ever since Jadzia Axelrod put the concept of Metropolis having an alien quarter on page, I have wanted desperately to see it. I'd love to see Galaxy become a more integrated part of the DC universe, whether by having Axelrod just write more stuff for DC, or by having Taylor be written by other people. I think teaming her up with Jon could be fun as they're both young, queer, aliens in Metropolis and they could bond over it. I also think teaming them up could be a way to emphasise what distinguishes Jon from his dad, exploring his queerness and his relationship to being of mixed American-Kryptonian heritage. I also think he needs more friends. What is it like being an alien on Earth? How is it different if you look more or less normatively human?

Gavin King (Orpheus)

The other victim of War Games. He deserves a solo as reparations. With the continuity reset, it's easier to just have him show up again than ever. For real, Orpheus Rising was a really strong introduction for the character as well as having sharp politics that feel timely to this day. Given The Hill is getting its moment in the sun with the current Red Hood flashback mini, it'd be natural yo have Orpheus as one of its current day protectors. There's also the lingering mystery of who exactly Orpheus's benefactors were, which could be a great way to tie him into the wider DCU.
