03/11/2025 Progress Update:

TLDR: Drafted about 2K more today, but scrapped a previous 1K so we're at about 25K.

Okay, Kiwi was being dramatic yesterday. Writer's block has scooted out of the way nice and gently for me.

Only because I scrapped 1K words, though, ugh. I've found that writer's block often results when my brain is trying to tell me something isn't working, so I'll usually run through the previous sections with a fine-tooth comb and try to find what's not clicking. And we found it! So gonna stick with the positives here, even if I'm a little upset about losing the words :'( They're going right in the Google Doc of Unused Shit, which is a little over 5K long, yuck.

Eeeee I got to look at some guns today in research of this section, so freaking interesting. Idk if I've said this, but one of the things I was most excited about with this fic was giving Shuichi an actual fondness for his firearms (maybeeee a little obsession, too.) Not because I'm, like, personally into guns ('cause beyond general intrigue, I'm not), but because I frequently saw Phantom Thief AUs pretty explicitly mention Shuichi HAVING a gun but never really dive into his relationship with it. Or, if they did, it's usually pretty similar to Kokichi's, and he just doesn't ever actually use it (if there is a fic that DOESN'T do this, please tell me, I don't wanna generalize here). I wanted to tweak that concept a bit, make it more complex, soooo I did (or at least tried to). And it'll be more prevalent as time goes on yayaya. I just think it's interesting to explore why this particular version of Shuichi would rely on his firearms so heavily.

Anyway! Work is kicking my ass, but we're kicking it right back, yahoo! Can't get me down, I take up space, and there ain't nothing you can do about it!! And you all deserve to take up space, too. We're awesome, rah rah!!!

i got stuck in book 6 so many times lol really needed to beef up my cards 💪 anyway i finally got through. a good chunk of it im close to the end i think? idk how many chapters it is. but omg. bro. the assumptions i had about ortho. i fr thought this was like a fma situation so um. that blew my mind and i did not expect to get so emotional i actually cried ?@?!?! like GIRL.... adding idia to the list of twst boys who need therapy but i think he's now at the top of said list. yikes!
