¡Dale! + LGMBLDM!
A long while back I made around 50 pixels art "blattlers" of various Blaseball characters. These vary in quality as I improved and also might need to be clicked on if you are using desktop to see them with unblurred pixels. Many were commissions or requests but I no longer have the information of who they were for. They were posted to twitter but not to here so I am archiving them here now.

movin images over to tumblr from twitter, mostly blaseball nonsense I headcanon Priya being a big cosplayer, so I drew her and her wife Hahn Fox as Utena and Anthy. It's one of the pieces of fanart I'm happiest with even if I dislike how I did the shading.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
This is a Movie Health Community evaluation. It is intended to inform people of potential health hazards in movies and does not reflect the quality of the film itself. The information presented here has not been reviewed by any medical professionals.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty has a brief moment looking at a display screen where information flickers onto the otherwise blank screen. An aircraft flies at night with a blinking light on the outside.
There are brief action sequences that use shaking cameras. The camera work is all smooth outside of these moments. There is a helicopter scene at extreme heights, a boat scene on choppy waters, and a high-speed skateboard scene.
Flashing Lights: 2/10. Motion Sickness: 5/10.
NOTE: The Flashing Lights Warning Track for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now available on our Patreon page at Patreon.com/MovieHealth. Access will be free, even without a Patreon account, until October 1.

Esquire Magazine, January 1988. Featuring actress Beverly D'Angelo as Jessica Hahn, Fawn Hall, Tammy Faye Bakker, and Donna Rice.
Did my best to recreate/restore the "Free! Special Commemorative Bimbo Poster" found inside.
It's victim blame-y and mean spirited as hell but, as far I can tell, the basis for our modern conception of what a "bimbo" is. While the word was used to refer to promiscuous but dim-witted women as far back as 1920, it didn't see a resurgence and enter popular lexicon until the late 80s and early 90s, being used to demean and degrade the women caught in cheating and sexual misconduct scandals with politicians and other prominent "leaders" fronting an upstanding image. These women were largely young, naive, and evocative of the fashion sense of their times -- that's to say, it was impossible for the public to take them seriously. Regular young women with big hair, regular aspirations, and regular interests were suddenly thrust into the spotlight of a political world they were unprepared for -- and because of that, they were reduced to nothing but unintelligent sex by the press. It didn't help of course that sometime these scandals would buoy these young women to brief careers in entertainment or give them access, allowing them to profit off their notoriety.
I think, until this time the image and aesthetic of the bimbo had never been fully solidified. It had always been used to insultingly refer to a woman as, essentially, dumb and loose. But I believe it probably wasn't until the late 80s and early 90s that the aspect of "looking dumb" came into play too. An assumption of stupidity fostered by excessive femininity, youth, and, well, misogyny. I believe this is part of where the idea of a bimbo looking fake stems from. Part of the reason why these women weren't taken seriously was because of their makeup, dress, and most likely -- bodies as well. Not to mention the plastic surgery boom of the 90s which happened somewhat concurrently leading to a lot of women looking ridiculous, ie, "dumb".
There's also since been heavy and almost immediate conflation with the dumb blonde trope, which existed centuries before any and all political "bimbo eruptions". What people fail to realize is that the dumb blonde trope is mostly one of innocence and naivete. It's not inherently sexual nature while bimbos are always sexual. The reason so many dumb blondes characters are portrayed as sexy women is incidental. Blondes have been seen as especially special, and sexy, for a long time just as the dumb blonde trope has existed for a long time combining the two is a... ugh, no-brainer. But you'll be hard-pressed to find many of those sexy dumb blonde characters that are actually slutty or even express significant sexual interest rather than be portrayed as an innocent.

Princess Yue - Netflix Edition
Tumblr media
Yue's character concept is so cool, but in the animated series, like Suki, she was a cool concept that really just became a plot device rather than a full character.
The live-action fleshes her out as a young woman put in a position of authority over a tribe not just as a princess, but as someone with a part of the moon spirit within her, so she chooses to use that to be a spiritual leader of her people as well. She shares how she serves them, not just as a bride to be married off like in the animated series, but as someone who helps make desserts and councils them on spiritual matters. Yue has stuff going on outside getting married to Hahn and it makes her feel like a real person rather than a plot device. She has likes and hobbies and struggles like a whole character - ya know, stuff she can also talk to Sokka about to create a connection rather than just…thinking he's cute, I guess?
I love the additions the live-action gave her due to her having a part of the moon spirit within her! Being able to pop over into the Spirit Realm in her dreams was a wonderful touch and having her meet Sokka there added to their connection - she saw him as he was, not as someone trying to impress a princess. It also makes total sense that she's a waterbender - she has a piece of the moon spirit in her, the first waterbender - why would she not also have that ability? It was a great way also, to show subtly in the finale that her giving her life back to the moon would bring back waterbending as she bends even when the moon is 'gone'.
Her and Sokka's relationship, though still rushed, feels a lot more organic and understandable in the live-action. They bond over being in positions of authority and sometimes wishing they could just be 'regular people' so they both understand at least partially what the other is going through. It's beautiful that Yue falls for Sokka not because of his battle prowess or status as the warrior of his village, but because of his heart - his first words when she meets him are of concern for his friends.
In the battle, Yue takes an active role with Sokka - not to fight, but to help get people to safety - showing that there are many ways to help during a crisis other than being a master in combat. She shows Sokka the hidden oasis not to stand by while Aang meditates, but to heal someone who'd been hurt - even if that someone was 'just a pet'.
Finally, I love giving her the agency to realize that she is the one who can bring back the moon spirit. In the animated series, Iroh is the one who prompts her, but in the live-action, she comes to that conclusion herself. It's just her and Sokka in the end and she makes her sacrifice.
I couldn't tell you what animated Yue enjoys doing, what she values in a person, or what she did in service to her people. But I could tell you all those things and more about the live-action Yue. Even though she's only in 2 episodes, she's a full person and you know exactly how her loss will affect her people: the Grans will miss the princess coming in to the kitchens and helping with dessert, the people will miss getting advice from her, but hopefully, a silver fox will still be able to roam the Spirit Realm.

So, I actually think Amber Midthunder was one of the stand outs in that her charisma largely overcame the bad writing she was given (minus her little voice over try as the fox, different skill sets)
But the Sokka/Yue was so much weaker in this version.
Tumblr media
They gave Yue more agency. She's a waterbender priestess now, and, broke off her arranged marriage to the hunky sweetheart, Hahn. She makes up her own mind and finds her own happiness in her life.
But this removes an elementary of the tragedy of Yue. That she is so kind in spite of her own unhappiness. That she gives her life before she's even really had the chance to live it. That Sokka was able to bring her happiness in the last few weeks of her life, and that's what she'll carry with her into the eternity.
In NATLA, Yue basically says she's had an Awesome Life, and it was worth living it no matter how short. Which is not a terrible thing in isolation, but it's not as sad. And for Sokka, this and the fact him and Yue only spend like, two or three days? getting to know each other, I just don't see the attachment.
Sokka was moved by both his attraction to Yue, but also how unhappy she was. How unfair her situation was. How much he wants to save her from it. It sets every protective bone in his body on fire. And that's why it's believably devastating for him when he can do nothing to save her. His grief is put on the same level as her fathers, and it doesn't feel wrong at all.
Yue and Sokka are not star-crossed lovers who shared some all-time great love, and that's not the point. It hits because of the context.

We are getting close to wrapping up the MCU in deciding who the best Marvel casting choice is.
Once all the polls have wrapped up I will do some for Fox and Sony then a final poll facing off all the winners.

lists of changes in natla that make no sense vs are actually good:
the nonsensical
yue and hahn are not betrothed → yue has no duty to her tribe represented by her betrothal to hahn. i don’t really care about her being a waterbender or a priestess but hmmm why go as far as to do this? her whole character was about duty and sacrifice for the greater good.
katara not being the one to cause aang’s discovery
the winter solstice. i understand why there’s little roku (having him around more means the topic of the comet’s return will come up, which the writers want to avoid unless they get confirmation for s2) but hei bai? we spend his and roku’s episode with koh the face stealer, wan shi tong, and the three tailed fox instead. and for what?
kyoshi narrating the intro. god why. what was wrong with katara telling her own war story? who in the crew likes kyoshi so much as to do this?
aang not waterbending in a season dedicated to the element of water 🗿
the nwt arc being shortened (thanks for the 8 eps, netflix) and pakku not training katara before the attack by the fire nation
the good
the 41st division reveal AHHHHH *throws things around*
watching ozai play mind games with both his children and seeing him in the same frame as iroh, actually interacting with him
an earth kingdom soldier confronting iroh over his crimes at the 600 day siege of ba sing se… we needed that so bad, END THAT (self-forgiving) FRAUD!
remixing king of omashu + northern air temple + jet in one episode. it was fun and idgaf what anyone else says.
king bumi being as whimsical as he is resentful & showing us the bitterness that comes with age and a century of warring
the mayor of kyoshi island being suki’s mother & seeing the consequences of its isolationist nature on the people, especially suki
azula shown taking over omashu in the finale
the prologue. slay.

Marvel Studios has reshuffled the release dates for its slate of television shows.
What If…? Echo, and Agatha: Coven of Chaos, now titled Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, are among the titles receiving new dates. The move comes amid Hollywood’s strikes as well as a general pullback at Disney+.
The writers strike began May 2 while the actors went on strike July 14, significantly impacting production and development. At the same time, sources say Marvel wants to focus its efforts to make each title an event for fans and audiences. The studio has decided that spreading out its content is a more prudent strategy.
It’s a far cry from last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, when Marvel unveiled plans for Phase 5 and Phase 6 of its movies and television shows. 2023 particularly heavy with shows, with five planned. (Only the spring’s Secret Invasion, October’s Loki and as The Hollywood Reporter can reveal, What If…? season two remain of that plan for this year.)
THR poked around the Marvel scheduling changes and here’s what sources say is the new rundown:
As previously announced, Loki season two will be the only show to hit this fall, debuting on Disney+ on Oct. 6. Despite what some call superhero fatigue, expectations remain high for the Tom Hiddleston-Owen Wilson-fronted series that centers on alternate timelines. The season two trailer had the biggest digital debut of a trailer for any Disney+ series, and season one remains the most-watched Marvel series on Disney+.
The second season of Emmy-winning animated series What If…? will debut around Christmas Day, although it should be noted the animated show is not a holiday-themed series. Like the namesake comic on which its premise is based, What If…? is an anthology series that looks at key moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how they would look in different timelines. Jeffrey Wright returns as the voice of the Watcher, the alien narrator. What If…? was originally slated for an early 2023 release.
Echo, a spin-off from last year’s hit Hawkeye, was originally announced for Nov. 29 but has now shifted to January 2024. The series stars Alaqua Cox as a one-time head of a criminal organization who returns to her hometown in Oklahoma to come to terms with her past. The series, which centers on a character who is deaf and of Native American descent, is described as having a grittier and more grounded tone than some of the other Marvel series and will feature appearances by Daredevil and villain The Kingpin. As previously announced, all the episodes will drop at the same time.
Next on the schedule will be X-Men ’97, the animated series that acts as a spiritual and tonal continuation of the classic 1990s series that aired on Fox. The series, first announced in 2021, was originally planned for a fall 2023 debut but will now premiere in early 2024 The show is being described, by sources who have seen it, as retro and a love letter to the original. A season two remains in the works.
Agatha, the WandaVision spinoff starring Kathryn Hahn, was originally announced for a winter 2023 release has been pushed back to early fall 2024, where it will serve as a lead-up to the Halloween holiday. The show, which completed its filming before the strikes, was previously titled Agatha: House of Harkness and then Agatha: Coven of Chaos before falling on its currently name, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
Ironheart, a show focused on  genius-inventor Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) first introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was to have dropped this fall but that is now off the schedule. It finished shooting but its completion is affected by the strikes.
Daredevil: Born Again, a continuation of the Netflix series in the MCU, was expected to debut in spring 2024, paused in mid-production amid the strikes. Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, was also paused in mid-production.
It is unclear where on the calendar the three series will end up.

ATLA Live Action Stream of Consciousness (Episode 7, Part 1).
Did Ozai try to try Zuko in the original? Did I just forget that? EDITING PHOEBE: It was Zhao but yes that did happen I just have a shit memory.
Does Zhao have enough pull for that?
They definitely didn’t know that he was the Blue Spirit (in the OG)
Nice moment between Zuko and the lieutenant though.
Yeah this is new but I like it. Makes Zhao scarier (editing me: No it’s not)
Aang: Zuko seemed so… Me: Sad.
Okay Northern water tribe is like the only thing that looked significantly better animated. The CGI detail usually looks good but here it drains some of the color (especially the purple)
Arnook…lowkey can’t act.
Why did they do that to Yue’s hair lmao? I have a specific reference I’m thinking of that I’ll link here. (There’s multiple photos in this article. It’s the one with the big hair).
Zhao is a better liar than I remember. But like if he’s this competent now will that diminish Azula’s effect if they get a book 2? Part of why she worked so well was that Zhao was not the best villain.
On the “below average” stuff with Azula: I think it works for this iteration of the character but it’s not in keeping with the original. I wish they’d kept it closer to the original since it’s important to show different kinds of abuse, and I think OG Ozai would only say those things to Azula behind closed doors, but I think it works in isolation.
LIZZY YU IS ACTING HER ASS OFF.
“That I’m the one” who what? Interesting writing choice there. They feel the need to overexplain everything else but they can’t finish this line.
Sokka’s humor is coming through.
Aaw this is a cute Aang and Katara moment.
I liked Pakku as a straight up sexist asshole in the original but I’m not sure that that would have translated so well so I’m glad they gave him some half decent moments.
IS YUE DOING MAGIC?
Aaw Yue’s getting some more cute moments that’s sweet. I love original Yue but I like her candid, grounded moments here. She feels more fleshed out. She and Sokka are cute too.
I like Sokka’s arc but give Katara some of that characterization.
Wait was Yue the fox spirit? Why did they make that choice? How does it serve the narrative?
Hahn doesn’t suck now! Not sure how I feel about that since Yue’s tragedy was not about who she was marrying in the first place, rather about the fact that she had to get married.
“My friends helped me” Aang tbf it was mostly you.
I like that we’re getting some more exploration into healing.
Are they finally gonna let Katara be angry? PLEASE do!
My dad asked why Sokka is wearing so much lipstick.
OH Yue broke off her engagement that’s NEW. Where are they gonna go with this?
Kuruk development that’s cool!
Gordon who tf wrote your dialogue in this scene (and how many times have I written that question in some form or another?)
Why are we into LOK spirit world stuff? This remake can’t handle the material it has.
Can we have one character without an angsty backstory please?
They need to stop harping in this “the hero needs to do everything alone” idea it’s overdone.
They should have given Yue white eyebrows.
This is new and I don’t mind it (with Yue)-confirms my theory that she was supposed to be the avatar.
See Sokka does have a good heart but you can’t make that the center of his character it’s also the center of everyone else’s character. Why does the whole main trio seem the same?
I hate this Aang/Kuruk scene it’s so generic.
More on the way (Y’all KNOW I have thoughts on part 2).
