Ahhh yes!! ☺️Thanks for asking wahh, I didn't realize people would be curious ;-; Unfortunately it's not any kind of fully fleshed out au story or anything, just something that I have one post about and personally bounce around in my head a lot. It's a fun character exercise for me, seeing what's core to a character, what's a core to a crime, and the similarities/differences between the prisoners. It was supposed to have fun art for it, but somebody keeps putting it off *gives myself a pointed look*

The original post is here, though this has nudged me to make some updates! With their new videos, I now know more to modify Shidou/Mahiru's. It was necessary because of the ages, but I wasn't satisfied with Kotoko's, so I gave her another one here. And Kazui/Haruka's changed now that I have a clearer idea of Kazui's crime. (I know Cat isn't out yet but when I wrote the first post I thought Kazui's murder had been neglect-based -- he left his wife in the path of danger and wasn't there to help because they'd drifted apart. Now that I've looked deeper into his story I see it's different...)

Doctor Mahiru is very much the same, except this time she did start her family with her boyfriend/now husband -- she has the older daughter and younger son she always dreamed of. They're like a picture out of a magazine, or her romance novels. The perfect happy family. And then the accident strikes, and she has sixteen days to make a choice to save one of them by sacrificing another. She was also taking organs from patients prior to this, but saw everything through her painfully optimistic lens. She was saving lives. She was the perfect mother, perfect wife, perfect doctor. It isn't until she does the same to her own family that she realizes what a horrible act she's been committing.

Shidou is deeply and madly in love with his girlfriend he met when moving to the city, but he still has a tendency for deception and distraction. (He mentions in one of his questions that his wife takes charge with a lot of the care at home and he relies on her) in the au, he'd be equally reliant on her but always painting things perfectly. He twists truths and hides mistakes to convince her everything is perfect, even though she's struggling with her own pain and seeing the cracks in their relationship. He hears her mention suicidal thoughts, but buries them -- and any trace of negativity -- with grand stretched truths of how perfect everything is. He ignores the signs until it's too late.

(Half the fun is the aesthetic swapping, but I realized that Shidou's also works if he was still a doctor lol. He's so caught up in monitoring her physical health every time she complains of struggling, but doesn't take into account her mental strain. He treats her like a patient, only looking at physical symptoms, misleading her and himself about the reality of her emotions)

So yeah, I originally needed Kotoko to swap with Yuno since the other girls are too young (and Mahiru was already taken). Still, it felt weird removing her drive for justice, especially seeing how Harrow/Deep Cover hints that she lives for this purpose alone. I realized she could be cool to swap with Shidou -- and she protects the weak by saving everyone no matter the cost. She believes in her heart that the ends justify the means every time. She will be the fang for those who can't advocate for themselves, that's justice to her. I've seen some theories about lost family members as the wolves in her mv, so it would be those people in her "pack" that she kills/saves to make her second guess her work.

Haruka always had trouble expressing his emotions. Though his parents weren't outright abusive, they didn't know how to deal with any neurodivergence in their children, and couldn't help him when he had trouble communicating. They force him to take up theater in school to help him open up, but it only makes him better at acting and hiding his true self. He's awkward and shy, but found that lying could save him from many unwanted circumstances. He constantly lies to his sister as he grows more distant from his family. She discovers the shocking truth to one of these, leading to an emotional confrontation. After so much time bottling himself up, hiding behind masks, the only way he manages to communicate is in an explosive way, and the accident ensues.

And okay, I said it jokingly at first, but I actually think it'd work if Es and Jackalope swapped. The knowledgeable voice of the project is calm and serious. Es remains mysterious, and tells us to take our duty very seriously. But of course we haven't 100% done that -- an anime's fandom is definitely better portrayed by the cheeky rabbit willing to make judgements for whatever personal reasons come to mind first

I plan on writing a full post about I Love You but I hate people claiming that Mahiru is delusional or selfish. The first few moments of the MV is her getting off the carasel, the manifestation of her happy dream world, to go back to sleep. It's painted very clear that she understands the carasel is dilapated but continues to ride it because it provides her a sense of comfort.

Mahiru: "But I’ve made up my mind. I’ll properly convey my feelings too. He’s dead. It… it might have been because of my love."

I feel like people are ignoring that Mahiru blames herself for her boyfriend's suicide. She's not crazed or obsessed, she is coping by picturing an idyllic world where she and her boyfriend are safe. Even when she's riding the carasel, the hanged corspe of her boyfriend is revolving behind her in the back of her mind.

I should note that, personally, I'm in the camp that everything in the forest scene is literal. This is for two reasons:

As of now there hasn't been a character with two symbolic worlds in a single MV. There's only ever one world with fantastical elements (T2 Haruka and Shidou's home), or a metaphorical world and a real one (T1 Mu's hourglass / Her school).

Mahiru's crime took place in a forest as seen in Undercover. If it's a metaphorical forest then... why does he literally die in a forest?

Which brings us to the rat-feeding scene. It hasn't been said outright but in combination with saying she's "crazy" and therefore unforgivable, there's this implication that Mahiru desired feeding her boyfriend a dead rat. Even if you take this scene as metaphorical—Mahiru did not want to feed her boyfriend this rat!

"Saying I love you but doing what I did, I know I have no right, crossed and covered in sin My love, it scored an own goal, destroyed my love and me with its weight Tell me, oh tell me why, can’t I just do it right?"

You can clearly see her boyfriend is bleeding and dying from starvation. Mahiru is feeding him this rat because she wants to help her boyfriend to not fucking die. What an unforgivable act done out of selfishness...!

Even if you find this disgusting, Post-Mahiru lamenting on this literally says she had no right to behave this way and she destroyed her relationship. Combined with the glitched-out typography what makes you think she's doing this to get her kicks off or out of malice.

I feel like im going crazy here because why does she deserve to be die for committing the cardinal sin of being a bad girlfriend. She is already suicidal, her mental health is deteriorating, she has already suffered for the sins she's commited. She's constantly mischaracterized as some stalker or some yandere and I'm just so so so tired of it.

Okay from the recent musicals, Amour Eternal was my least fav, because it pondered too much to the 90s thumpers it lost its individuality, that being said there is that one number with Mamoru and Helios that it is both phenomenally performed, and so unbelievably gorgeous

the LOVE, the ACTUAL LOVE Mamoru has for Helios it can be interpreted in many different ways, familial, friendly, homoerotic.

as we know in the dream arc mamoru is sick he’s slowly rotting from the inside, yet in THAT state of unhealth he still wants to save Helios who has been corrupted.

Helios during all these he refuses to release the nightmare into Mamoru, in fear it will kill him, Mamo insists, he even goes all future king on him and tells him it’s an order.

in the end Helios does and 

and Mamo dies in his arms, temporarily as the golden crystal appears there.

but the whole number is just pure love from start to finish it’s amazing

I’m disappointed in the Chainsaw Man fandom. I can’t believe I have to embarrass myself by being the first one to say it. How can the world do this to me.

So like. Wouldn’t it be kinda interesting, wouldn’t it be kinda neat, to ship Asa and Haruka and see where it goes…

Ok so I’ve been holding it back for a few weeks. The first thing that drew my eye to this ship concept is that he was* pretending to be Chainsaw Man, so that gives Asa incentives to interact with him and from there a lot of fun scenarios can happen. Hruka’s personality is just being flamboyant and lying about himself to seem cooler, being a cold bitch as an authority figure and also being pathetic and cringefail. He’s just a highschooler that’s a hardcore Chainsaw Man fanboy and wants to be liked and respected and cooler but is just… A dumb teen. C’monnn he’s flamboyant and she wants to be invisible. He thinks he’s hot shit and she just wants to dig herself a hole to hide in. He’s the powerless & pathetic one that seems well-adjusted and she’s the messy war machine!! All I’m saying is that I like Haruka and I think harukasa would be funny and cute and maybe even heartfelt. Give me an Haruka character arc, canon, please, I beg. If you want more of my thoughts on him, here’s a post of mine theorizing!

WHICH. He *is* some level of smart, don’t get me wrong. He’s good at assessing situations and forming plans, as seen as how he directed people in the Aquarium crisis. The fact he freaked out after a couple days is fair, so did everyone else and not even Yoshida or Chainsaw Man were able to find any way out. Let the guy cry for his life. Anyways- so he’s kinda smart, plus he’s student council president so he’s supposed to have his shit together, AND he’s obsessed with a devil who’s a devil hunter. He’s the devil hunter club’s leader. I would not be surprised at all if as the page below implies Haruka would sus out Asa having a devil contract or even straight up being a horsemen. Famine’s on his team, who knows at this point.

So that’s even more fun scenarios harukasa can sprout!!! Also imo after how he talked to her at the Aquarium I don’t think Asa would feel very guilty over transforming him into a weapon… At first anyways, then she learns how much of a sad lonely loser he is and her heart is taken from then on. Just think about it!! The “oh mighty” devil hunting club president who’s actually pretty loser and his -surprise!- badass devil girlfriend who will protect him and carry him bridal style through the guts of a devil he got too close to and that she killed for him. You can sprinkle in so many flavors!! Do they bond over feeling lonely and outcast and stupid? Is there a lot of tension and dislike??! Is it chainsaw man superfan vs hater?! Does she lowkey crave his validation as her club president?! 

Putting the rest under a cut for space reasons but give this a chance please maybe… I am incoherent and desperate and us Haruka fans are so rare

All that I’m saying is that Denji is great but also Asa deserves a boyfriend that will be scared shitless of her devil form. Or actively want to kill her. Also his hair looks stupid.

Ok if I’ve not sold you on the aesthetic just think: wouldn’t it be funny. Imagine in an AU where Haruka hasn’t revealed he isn’t Chainsaw Man, Yoru is like “Ok whatever, your thing with Denji isn’t progressing with the plan, what if you try getting close to Chainsaw Man instead? Seduce him!” And the irony is ofc that she’s leaving Denji for a fake Chainsaw Man AND OH HOW GLORIOUS THAT WOULD BE. When the charade is blown and Haruka isn’t Chainsaw Man, maybe like he confesses it to her in a vulnerable moment when they officially become a couple, and then Yoru immediately turns him into a weapon even if Asa had started to like him. Or! Love triangle with Denji that’d be so funny. Maybe Haruka takes an interest in her once he sees her powers, wants to investigate or smth! 

Haruka is just a funny little guy that’s even more loser than Asa and Denji because he’s actually powerless and I want him to get into dangerous shit and freak out and then try to save face & look cool anyways, start having white hairs from stress at the age of 20 bc he can’t handle any of this shit and yet. He’s a clown for liking Asa but also I think it’d be a cute clown where he’d let himself be sillier and less important and whatever. Anyways!!!!! Fumi out, enjoy the food for thought 🤡

Webcomics Focus: Mira!

Mira! tells the story of Mira, a first-year student, who meets the three young women she is rooming with. Their lives become intertwined in this cute, wholesome webcomic.

Reprinted from The Geekiary, my History Hermann WordPress blog, and Wayback Machine. This was the fourteenth article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on November 17, 2021. Also, this post has been slightly changed from the original.

Mira!, by illustrator Amaiiuwu, has women-centric friendships, with the four protagonists, Miranda "Mira" Glaze, Robbyn Stable, Alexandra "Alex" Rojas, and Sakura "Cherry" Kinoshita learning more about themselves and love along the way. This light-hearted slice-of-life girls love series, as it could be called, which will be about 30 chapters long, begins when Haruka's girlfriend breaks up with her, and her friend Robbyn tells her to start loving herself.

Five years later, Mira goes to a university and meets Alex. Mira is studying graphic design while Alex is studying game design. She goes to class and meets a cute girl in her design class.  She finds out that the girl is Robbyn, her childhood friend. Mira learns that Alex is also in the same dorm, as is Cherry. Mira leads their introductions, with Cherry surprised they are all wlw (women love women), with Mira and Robbyn forgetting this is a WLW dorm. It makes me think of the "Open Housing" option at my alma mater, which allows students to "choose their roommates independent of gender/sex/sexual orientation."

Mira! has a compelling storyline and characters, serving as form of entertainment and escapism as she put it. Mira is a 19-year-old woman interested in girls, while Robbyn is 19 years old and a lesbian. Alex is a 20-year-old lesbian sapphic woman and Cherry is a half-Japanese lesbian woman. In the first Q&A of the comic, all four of them named their preferences, and that they are all doing design majors of some kind. It was also noted that Alex is attracted to girls and non-binary people, specifically the latter who are female-presenting.

The webcomic, which has more than 30 episodes, is written and illustrated by Amaiiuwu, who has been drawing seriously for six years. It was recently noted in Q&A that Mira! would be a polyamorous webcomic, which was hinted at in an earlier comic, and an earlier Q&A. As such, this webcomic could be considered to be like the webcomic, Boyfriends, about four young men in a poly relationship, except this would be between four young women. However, in that same Q&A, Amaiiuwu said that her favorite ship is Mira and Robbyn, as they were the first two characters she created for the comic. I wish her the best in studying animation after she graduates high school as she said in that Q&A.

Mira! is one of the many recent stories to focus on girl's love stories. The comic's author, Amaiiuwu, recommends stories like A Bread Story, The End of Time, The Siren's Light, and I Seduced the Villainess. While I've reviewed other girl's love comics like Not So Shojo Love Story, and Ice Massacre, Brahidaliz Martinez, who has written many more articles reviewing webcomics than I have, has also reviewed similar comics. This includes Flowers for the Arsonist, Sesame But Different, Once Upon a Time, and Her Name Was Sunny, to name a few.

Scarlet Embers

Chapter 1: Cafe Comfort

The golden morning sun rays shone inside a cozy cafe, filling the air with the delicious aroma of sandwiches, pastries, desserts, and coffee. The wonderful fragrance brought immense joy and happiness to everyone present there, including Haruka. She was standing patiently at the end of the line, eagerly waiting for her turn.

Cheryl's Café was her favorite breakfast spot in Yorknew City. After moving in with her boyfriend of two years in the city, it became even easier to visit the place. Although her parents were sad to see her leave their home in the suburbs, she promised to visit them whenever she could.

Haruka was planning to visit her parents today after getting her usual order. Although they were not her biological parents, Haruka loved them dearly. They had raised her as their own child, and that was all that mattered to her. 

Sunhee and Chanyeol considered it a blessing, as it fulfilled their wish of having a child. Unfortunately, they were not able to bear any children. When they saw Haruka in a room all by herself, crying and isolated from the other kids due to her scarlet eyes, it made their hearts sink.

Haruka had no recollection of her childhood, nor did she have any information about her biological parents. However, she was resolute in discovering her roots. She yearned to learn about her origin, her parents' characteristics, and more importantly, unravel the mystery behind her eyes.

Why did they turn red when she felt strong emotions? What was so bad about them? Why did she get separated and treated like an outcast growing up? Why did she have to conceal them with brown contact lenses? So many questions yet no answers.

"Next." the barista called. Haruka was the only one standing.

"Right, that's me," Haruka thought as she stepped up to the counter. "The usual please!" she stated with a pleasant grin. 

“Two bagels with cream cheese and a mocha?" the barista eyed her. Haruka smiled.

“You know me very well Selene.” she beamed. “It's the only thing I ever order from here really. Nothing else.” Haruka reached into her purse and handed over 166 Jenny to the girl.

“Well as your best friend, it makes sense that I know what you like. If I didn't, I don't think that I'd deserve the title.” The black-haired girl grinned as she took the payment from her.

“Anyways, how are things with Genji?” Selene sorted the cash and walked out from behind the counter. Haruka’s eyes widened upon hearing the question. 

“Genji? W-What about him?” she stuttered a bit. She didn't expect to be asked about him. Then again, she rarely talked about him. Even with her friends, she barely mentioned him.

“I mean, how are you guys doing? How's your relationship with him? Anything interesting? You never talk about him.” Haruka frowned before she began to explain.

“To be honest, no. Lately he's been so busy with work that we rarely spend any time together. And when we do get time, he's just… distant.” She frowned.

“It feels as if he doesn't want to see me. Ever since he became the manager, he’s been spending more time at his job instead of home. In fact, he rarely comes home anymore and instead, just stays over at the office.” Haruka sat down on one of the tables in the cafe.

It was true. Recently, Genji has been spending more time away from Haruka than usual. The only reason she moved from her home in the suburbs to the city was so she and Genji could see each other often and spend more time together. But ever since she moved in with him, he became even more distant than usual.

Selene raised an eyebrow upon hearing this. “Sounds to me like he's hiding something.” she noted. Though she was single herself, she could smell something suspicious with Genji. It's true that Genji was introverted and all, but that didn't mean he couldn't spend time with his girlfriend.

She knew there was something off about him from the start, but kept quiet. After all, she didn't want to assume anything only to be proven wrong. Haruka sighed, putting her head down on the table.

“I don't know. I don’t want to assume anything and possibly jeopardize our relationship. After all, we've been together for two years and that's probably the longest that I've stayed with anyone compared to my past relationships.” She lifted her head back up.

“I’m telling you, he's is hiding something. Take it from someone who has extremely busy parents who still manage to spend time with my little brother and me.” Selene laid back in her seat.

“For now, it's best to not confront him directly. Observe him. Better yet, I’ll get Ragna to keep an eye on him.” Selene took out her phone and began texting the girl.

“Are you suggesting we stalk him!?” Haruka’s eyes widened. It's true she wanted to know what Genji was hiding from her, but not to this extent.

“Correction, Ragna, not us. No one has more amazing stealth than her. Or are you forgetting how she caught a glimpse of your scarlet eyes without you noticing?” 

“Oh yeah, that's true,” Haruka chuckled. “Honestly, that woman scares me sometimes.” She added while taking a sip of her mocha. 

To Haruka, Ragna was… an interesting person. She could be your best friend, your worst nightmare, or both at the same time. Though anyone who was close with her, including Haruka herself, would say that it’s best if you stayed on her good side.

“Plus, you're his girlfriend, so you can “stalk” him as well. It'll be less suspicious if he ends up seeing you versus if he were to see Ragna.” Selene pointed out.

“Yeah, I guess.” Haruka agreed. “If he is hiding something, I should confront him when I see it,” she noted before getting up from her seat and pressing the button on the middle of her belt. 

With that, four wheels appeared on the bottom of both shoes. The wheels were set in a single straight line, making them rollerblades. She then put on her elbow pads, wrist guards, knee pads, and helmet. She made sure that everything was secured and in place before grabbing her purse. 

“Anyways, I'm off to see mom and dad. I'm not working today and I promised to visit them.” She smiled while attaching breaks on the back of both shoes, now-turned rollerblades. Haruka worked as a papergirl, meaning that she delivered newspapers to people's homes. 

At first, it wasn’t a fun job. Not only did living away from the city make it difficult, but having to go from house to house on a bike was a pain. But, that all changed when her father got her a pair of inline skates on her fifteenth birthday. 

She'd been wanting to learn how to skate for a while and figured that incorporating her ability to skate would make the job easier. As it turned out, she was right. It not only made it easier, but fun too. 

After that, Haruka began using her rollerblades as a method of transportation, only to later realize how annoying it was to switch from her skates to regular shoes every time she went into places like stores, shops, restaurants, and even back home.

It was then that she decided to make her custom-built rollerblades. With the help of her father, they built a pair of rollerblades for her that could be both shoes and skates in one. All she needed to do was press a button and she could go from having skates to shoes and vice versa in a matter of seconds.

“You seriously need to teach me how to make those.” Selene pouted, eyeing the skates. “I feel they would make my life so much easier.”

Haruka chuckled. “Well first, you need to know how to use them,” she explained, skating around the cafe before abruptly stopping herself.

“Trust me, you do not want to fall with these on. Saying this from experience. But if you want, I can make you one of these when I have the time. Being a papergirl during this season is pretty hectic.”

“Oh yeah, the deadline to apply for the Hunter Exam is coming up! Makes sense that everyone is worked up.” Selene mentioned before getting up from her seat.

“But alright, I gotta get back to work. More customers are coming in and it's just me and three others working today. Plus, I'm closing tonight, so I'll be home late.

“Alright, thanks for the heads up. See you later Nene.” With that, Haruka dashed out the front door of the cafe, leaving the place behind.

“Call me if you need anything!” Selene ran outside and shouted before heading back inside the cafe to finish her shift. 

Haruka watched as she quickly passed by other familiar places. She smiled, embracing the feeling of the wind against her skin, the rhythmic motion of her body propelling her forward, the sensation of freedom and movement accompanied by a gentle swaying of her body as she navigated turns and curves. 

Doing this always reminded her of how joyful and exhilarating rollerblading was. To think that she'd grow to love a skill that involves gliding on wheels attached to a pair of boots or shoes. She'd grown attached to the sport. If she didn't skate, she’d feel as if something was missing. 

“Woohoo!” She jumped before sliding down a handrail. “Man that never gets old,” she said out loud to herself. With that, she focused on her path of going to visit the two people she cared about most.

On the Topic of Seiya Kou.

This is a Sailor Moon post rather than a Dragon Age post. Shocker, I know, but Sailor Moon is another one of my loves. This will focus on the 90s anime adaptation of the manga. So do not come at me with “but in the manga,” because the 90s adaptation and the manga were incredibly different in multiple ways. Seiya will be referred to as she/her because the male form was a disguise. That being said, any interpretation of Seiya’s gender is valid and I love them all! Anyway. I see a lot of shit talking about Seiya and it’s honestly ... super tiring. So many of the “negative” points against Seiya are misinterpreted, misunderstood, and misrepresented for the sake of making her look like a dumpster fire. 1. “Seiya is creepy towards Usagi and stalks her.” Except ... she doesn’t. They meet by accident numerous times, and in fact Usagi even seeks Seiya out. They develop a friendship, and it’s normal and natural for friends to seek each other out. Usagi and the girls actually, literally stalk the Three Lights more than once during the season. 2. “Seiya thinks Usagi is weak because she told Mamoru to take care of her when they left.” This honestly makes no sense to me. It is repeatedly shown that Seiya admires Usagi’s strength, both as Usagi and as Sailor Moon. It is natural to want the people you love to be protected, and that does not mean that you think they’re weak and incapable of protecting themselves. Seiya knew Usagi was capable and strong because she had seen her demonstrate these traits multiple times. Throughout the season, Seiya repeatedly lifts Usagi up with her confidence in her capabilities. This is even before she knows she is Sailor Moon. Let’s not forget that when Galaxia kills all of the Inners, they ask the Starlights to protect Sailor Moon, so saying that Seiya telling Mamoru to take care of her means she thinks she is weak ... that must mean everyone else thinks she is too, right? It’s absurd. 3. “Seiya can’t take ‘no’ for an answer, always hits on her, and is constantly pressuring her into a relationship.” It is true that Seiya repeatedly quips about “having a chance” with Usagi. It’s also true that Usagi repeatedly reminds Seiya that she has a boyfriend. But it isn’t true that Seiya repeatedly attempts to coerce her into a relationship. It also isn’t true that she does it all the time. While she shouldn’t have done it even more than once (when she was unaware of Usagi’s relationship status,) it’s obvious from the context that she isn’t being serious. Seiya repeatedly making quips is an issue, and while those kinds of situations can and often do mean someone is being a “Nice Guy,” a predator, an abuser, etc., we know from everything that we see that it is not the case with Seiya. Let’s take the “date,” for an example: Seiya throws it out there (literally, just time and place and walks off) and Usagi willingly shows up the next day and is even irritated that Seiya is late. Usagi is not forced or coerced into the date; she retains all of the power regarding whether or not she shows up. She would not have gone if she didn’t want to. Actually, let’s look at these instances of Seiya hitting/making a move on Usagi. - In the “date” episode, Usagi thinks that Seiya is going to make a move on her. Some suggest that Usagi thinks she is going to kiss her, but the language, Usagi’s expressions, and her reaction to the truth seem to imply that she thinks Seiya is suggesting something more intimate. - In the episode with the beach monster when Chibi Chibi opens up the door and pushes Seiya over on to Usagi, Usagi is the one who, again, assumes Seiya is up to No Good, despite it being a complete accident and innocent on Seiya’s part. - In the episode where Seiya spends the night at Usagi’s because she’s alone and Seiya very nearly confesses who she is to Usagi while they’re in her bedroom, it is Usagi who believes that Seiya is going to confess to having a crush on her. - Later in that same episode, when they are hiding in the cabinet and Seiya again thinks about confessing her true identity to her, it is Usagi who thinks Seiya is about to suggest something intimate. In fact, throughout the season, it is everyone from Usagi, to the other girls, to single-episode characters, to even Luna who think that Seiya is going to suggest or attempt illicit activities with Usagi, and not Seiya. It is all but explicitly stated that Usagi is attracted to Seiya. Not just because of the implications of her assumptions, but also because she is scolded over it. In fact, Rei tells her that she needs to sort her feelings out. Haruka and Michiru forbid her from seeing Seiya because she has Mamoru. She may not love Seiya the same way, but she is attracted to her and she does love her (and Usagi being attracted to other people is not a new thing.) Let’s look at the softball episode, because it’s ... pretty problematic and people often point to it as being one of the episodes that paint Seiya as some creepy stalker who can’t just take a hint and tells everyone that Usagi is her girlfriend. It is Rei who thinks that Seiya training Usagi in softball is inappropriate (let’s remember that it is Ami who thinks that something illicit is going on with Seiya and Usagi in the bodyguard episode...) because Mamoru is Usagi’s boyfriend, not Seiya. It is Sonoko who insists that Seiya’s “relationship” with Usagi isn’t acceptable, and it is her that places the bet that if Seiya’s team loses, she’s not to associate with Usagi anymore. Seiya agrees because she’s competitive, hates to lose, has confidence in herself and Usagi, and knows that Sonoko is wrong. When Usagi tries to interject about the actual nature of their relationship (that they’re not dating,) it’s the girls who shush her because they’re expecting Seiya’s team to lose and that will give them the opportunity to make Seiya feel better. I want to touch on the “Seiya knows Sonoko is wrong” part. I think what a lot of people don’t think about is that when Sonoko placed this bet and openly stated her disapproval of Seiya spending time with Usagi, Sonoko was attacking Usagi’s worth as a person. She was openly saying that Usagi wasn’t good enough to be hanging out with Seiya in any capacity. Seiya took issue with this because she obviously believes and knows differently. She values Usagi as a person. Who is Sonoko to decide who is and isn’t good enough to spend time with her? Seiya is not approaching the situation with entirely selfish motives, unlike the girls who fed into the Seiya/Usagi romance for the hopeful eventuality of them being able to comfort Seiya after a loss when she’ll be forced to stop hanging out with Usagi. She uses this situation to help bolster Usagi’s confidence in herself. That doesn’t change the fact that the bet is stupid to begin with, but it is what it is. Oh, additionally ... Seiya doesn’t tell the school that she and Usagi are dating. Them dating is an assumption that Seiya simply doesn’t correct. It’s worth noting that if she did correct that assumption, it would feed into Sonoko’s declaration that Usagi isn’t good enough to be with Seiya. 4. “Seiya tried to make the rooftop scene about herself and used it as a way to try to take Mamoru’s place in Usagi’s life.” This whole entire scene is consistently misinterpreted and has all of the context ripped from it, because that is not what that scene is. No, it 100% was not the best time for Seiya to ask that question (and no, it is not “can I take his place?” that she says,) but people tend to forget that Usagi is not the only vulnerable person in this scene and it isn’t just about her. It is Seiya who triggers Usagi’s emotional breakdown on accident, and in these moments she is watching the person she loves crumble into pieces. The rooftop scene is about both of them and the context makes that clear. Up until this point, the only person who knew that Mamoru wasn’t keeping in contact with Usagi was Seiya. None of the girls knew, none of them. Imagine the amount of trust Usagi had to have in Seiya in order to share that incredibly sensitive information with her and with no one else, not even her closest friends. Usagi had told Seiya a whole 13 episodes before this one, and since finding out Seiya tried her best to make Usagi happy and to keep her mind busy. It isn’t until a few episodes after this that everyone including Seiya finds out that Mamoru is dead. So Seiya spends all of this time believing that Mamoru ditched Usagi when he moved overseas and that he’s a horrible boyfriend who obviously doesn’t care about Usagi. This is naturally hurtful to Seiya, who grows to genuinely like and love Usagi through the season. She cares for her and doesn’t want to see her in pain, which is why she does her best to help Usagi feel less alone. There is no point in the season where Seiya’s intentions are to maliciously shove herself into Mamoru’s place in Usagi’s life. She has no idea who Tuxedo Mask is. She had no idea that throwing the red rose - her own personal trademark - was going to trigger such an emotional response from Usagi. So here they both are on this rooftop in the middle of the pouring rain. Usagi’s breaking down over how alone she feels, and Seiya’s suddenly faced with the realization that not only did she cause this breakdown, everything she had been trying to do to help her wasn’t working and she failed again. She couldn’t save her system/planets, 99.9% of her people are literally dead because she wasn’t strong enough to save them, and she and the other two members of her team had no idea where their princess was or even if she was okay until the episode before this one. Immediately after the destruction of everything they knew, the Starlights had to flee to an alien planet with alien people, disguise themselves, and pander to a bunch of complete strangers that salivated over, stalked, and harassed them, all while searching for their princess  and fighting the minions of the person who ctrl+a ctrl+x’ed their home system. She had no time to process any of the unimaginable loss and failure she had suffered through. When people talk about the rooftop scene and about how Seiya “makes it about herself,” this is everything they’re forgetting. When Seiya is asking Usagi if she isn’t good enough, it isn’t Seiya trying to weasel her way in, it’s Seiya both coping with her own numerous losses and trying to remind Usagi that she’s there for her. In the end, Seiya is the one that Usagi credits with being able to get herself through everything she was dealing with.

What she says: I’m fine.

What she means: The original 90′s anime of Sailor Moon did Mamoru Chiba’s character dirty. On top of aging him up to college years (in the manga, he meets Usagi when he is only a second-year in HIGH SCHOOL), Anime!Mamoru is, frankly, a jerk. Sure, the anime is longer and they have to drag out the drama, but it shouldn’t be to the detriment of the characters! Several other main characters get the shaft in the anime, but none so egregiously as poor Mamoru Chiba. 

The only times anime!Mamoru is halfway decent is during beautiful season finales and/or major battles where his love for Usagi shines through (such as the creation of the Mood Rod, or saving her life, etc), though those moments exist in the manga as well (obviously). Sometimes, in the anime, we even get a small intimate moments when they’re alone that are quite sweet. But in many day-to-day filler/normal episodes? The man is more often than not embarrassed to be out in public with Usagi (and yes, the anime does her dirty as well, by umping up her “crybaby” personality to comically absurd levels, but I digress), frequently belittling Usagi (especially before getting together, the entire first season was full of this shit, but even AFTERWARDS, he still says awful shit, like callously commenting about her weight when rescuing her from a villain), and only indulging her wants and needs in that clichéd “flustered man who Sucks At Being a Good Boyfriend tries to appease his upset girlfriend” manner, AND dances around the bush about his relationship status towards others (which is both degrading and creepy, considering the added age-gap). 

Not to mention, as Tuxedo Mask, the anime made him PATHETIC. He just shows up, tosses a rose, gives a cheesy one-liner and that’s. literally. IT. Sure, it can make for good comedy, but it’s annoying when nothing changes in 200 episodes. The only “bad thing” anime!Mamoru and manga!Mamoru share is his tendency to be kidnapped and possessed, but that is a subversion of a classic “damsel in distress” trope, and one I actually appreciate a lot, especially in a series geared towards young girls. 

But as himself, by comparison, manga!Mamoru is tender, patient, and kind to Usagi. He gently teases her for being spoiled, and he even is slightly exasperated with her antics in the third arc, but it’s always said with all the love in the world. He loves being lovey-dovey with her, never hesitates to kiss her (unless interrupted), and wishes to be stronger so he can help Usagi fight forces of evil. From almost the very beginning, Mamoru’s role as the reincarnated Prince of Earth is proven, by his ability to sense the Earth’s “pain” and sensing premonitions. 

By the second arc, he LEVELS UP as Tuxedo Mask with “Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber,” an energy blast that is on par with the other Sailor Guardians’ attacks. He holds his own in battle, and is quite literally Usagi’s pillar of support when the final boss of each arc is confronted. His undying love and faith in Usagi gives her strength unlike any other, and even when her heart falters (jealousy towards Chibiusa, conflicted sexual “awakenings” over Haruka and Seiya), ultimately, truly, Mamoru is the only one for her and she is the only one for him. 

Usagi is not “weakened” by Mamoru’s love in the manga compared to the anime, as some have argued, but rather given the courage by Mamoru’s faith in her abilities and power. Mamoru is her literal soulmate, who also earns her love time and time again. Even though they fall in love faster in the manga than the anime, their love is tested but not to soap-opera levels (looking at you, Sailor Moon R breakup!). Manga!Mamoru is the serenity to Usagi’s passionate heart’s needs, and, unlike his anime counterpart, there is never EVER any doubt, both in-universe and the reader’s perspective, that he truly loves her with all his heart and soul.

Adriah's face when he saw the brunette pass through the gym door was unique and apparently everyone had noticed about that, he was still surprised to have a girlfriend as attractive as she was. Her hair was a long reddish color tied in a messy ponytail, her slightly unbuttoned blouse giving an incredible view that none had gone unnoticed, that black tube skirt along with those stockings and those black stilettos that drove him crazy. The boys had turned away their looks embarrassed except for Atsumu who seemed to enjoy the view more, but his sight was ruined by that six foot boy going to hug his girlfriend with so much emotion.

"Y/N-chan!" Exclaimed the tall one who had also been received with a huge hug.He left a small kiss on her forehead, the stocky girl had black lines resting under those beautiful bright eyes of hers, her pink lips pouting which made the older one laugh slightly.

"Did I come very early?" She asked a little worried and behind her, a certain black-haired man approached the couple. "Akaashi-san and I finished early so we decided to come."

He nodded and Bokuto ran towards him, excited by that visit, giving little shouts of excitement.

Adriah just laughed to take her hand and lead her to the bench next to Sakusa who was drinking some water, the boy did not move away from her. He had noticed the girl's hygiene and the way in which she kept her distance from him with him so as not to damage her comfort zone, Y/N only greeted him with a nod which was reciprocated by the boy.

The tallest of her crouched down so he could look at her from below, Y/N had always adored the puppy looks that his boyfriend gave him every time he wanted something or when he was quite excited about little things. She had gotten used to little nights out or last minute dates for the simple fact that he was left hungry after training, or the times she worked late he would send her and Akaashi food to the publisher.

But he didn't say anything to her, they just looked at each other as if they were the only ones in the place and Sakusa simply moved away from there to give them some space.

"Do you know how much I missed you princess?" He asked and for a few moments he saw as if the boy had a tail wagging from side to side. "God even right now you look like a goddess, please sit on my face."

Y/N’ s laugh was enough to make the taller one laugh, the good thing is that they both didn't get so tall so it didn't make it difficult for both of them to kiss each other without the need to bend down or stand on tiptoe— at least Adriah did. Made her beg for that—, or just for Y/N to leave little kisses on his neck for every time the black-haired man was stressed by the jokes that Inunaki made him or when he didn't know how to get revenge on the smallest.

Despite the almost four years of relationship, everyone could think at first glance that both had only been dating for months because of the closeness and above all the love that they seemed to waste as if they were teenagers. But even with time they remained the same and love did not disappear, Akaashi had always told Y/N that they were both for each other. She really wasn't going to deny how much fun she could have with Tomas.

And what she loved the most was the fact that he treated her children as if they were his own.

"I missed you a lot too." She caressed her cheek with her thumb and left a small kiss on her lips which the older one responded immediately.

"I know we've been together for a long time, but I want to take the next step." Tomas felt his stomach turn when he said that, he had never told her what he really felt; he wanted to tell her to live together, perhaps he would not agree to give her a child of her own but with the ones she had he was satisfied because he really adored them as if they were his children.

Y/N licked her lips frightened clearly understanding what Tomas was referring to, she knew that if she hadn’t children the answer would be completely different - she wouldn’t have even thought about it and she would probably have been able to move in together a month after they were dating - if she did not have two children whom he adored with his life, she would not be between a rock and a hard place. Her children should also give her opinion on the matter and that made her tremble a little at the way her boyfriend gently grasped her hands, hinting that every answer was valid.

"I-I don't know Tomas ... you know this doesn't depend-" she was abruptly interrupted by a huge hug, so she released the boy, leaving him sitting on the floor.

"Mom!" Two cute boys appeared, a cute eleven-year-old boy and a little nine-year-old who seemed completely excited. “we did very well in school!”

The oldest of the children saw that something was strange in the environment, so he sat next to his mother and watched Adriah for a few seconds to see his cute mother again who seemed a little worried. The boy turned his gaze to his younger brother who had sat between the legs of the taller one who had rested his chin on the boy's head, surrounding him in a strong hug that made the innocent boy laugh.

"Mom ... did something happen?" She sighed, watching for a moment at Adriah and then at the youngest, surrounding him in a small hug which only corresponded.

"Haruki-chan," Y/N spoke affectionately as she stroked her son's hair. "Tomas and I want to take the next step ..."

The named opened his mouth but was interrupted by the minor.

"Is mom going to marry Tomas?" A huge blush appeared on the older man's face, who just hugged the boy a little more tightly, making him laugh.

Y/N just laughed back at that tender behavior, her boyfriend quickly shook her head.

"No Haruka-chan, I mean we want to move in together" she let go of Haruki's grip and took his little hands "as a family."

"So ... you and dad" Haruki blushed at the mistake, surprising the adults, he saw how her boyfriend released a few small tears that caught Y/N's attention. "Will you and Tomas-san live together at last?"

"The four of us would go to live together and we will have a cat that we will name Misifus," Tomas unconsciously blurted out, attracting the attention of the three of us.

"Mom ..." the older whimpered this time, hiding in his chest and wrapped his arms around him worried to see his little boy crying "you shouldn't ask us that, if you're happy with dad, just tell him yes."

That was enough to make both seniors cry this time, which caught the attention of the others who came to see what was happening. Tomas and Y/N got up to give each other a huge hug, to merge into a sweet kiss. They were really happy that the four of them could finally be together as the cute new family that they were.
