Full offense, but if you're going to make a post about Astarion "not really being bi/pan", "is gay-coded", and/or "how weird it is to see him be romanced by feminine Tavs", then you should really expect people to get upset and accuse you of being bi/pan phobic because that is literally bi/pan erasure.
It doesn't matter that Astarion is theatrical or that he shares his history about two specific men from his past. That doesn't change the fact that he is canonically pansexual. He flirts with just about everyone in the party, including Shadowheart and Lae'zel, and can potentially sleep with Lae'zel if neither are romanced. He flirts with Tav, regardless of what gender identity they are.
If it's "weird" for you that people who play as feminine characters would romance Astarion instead of someone more "straight presenting" like Gale, for an example (which is dumb, too, he's also bi/pan), then that sounds more like a personal problem that you should definitely work through.

Sarsi's rival and former lover. The man has been the enforcer of the mob for most of his life. When they betrayed them, he completely cleaned house (think John Wick style) and took over their criminal operations. He is scum and has a less than healthy interest in Sarsi. They still occasionally get together from time to time.

Sarsi's little sister. She is a lot less confident than her older sister, but she can be a little spitfire when she wants to be. Currently studying to become a lawyer and someday start her own firm to assist the less fortunate with legal troubles. Sarsi is extremely protective of her.
reminder that mspec lesbians and male lesbians and he/him lesbians and trans(masc/neu/fem) lesbians have existed for decades and are fucking amazing lesbians that deserve space in the lesbian community
Husk: Angel, I’ve noticed you’re using sex and drugs as an unhealthy coping mechanism.
Angel: It’s true, I am. That’s because of [relevant backstory]
Blitz if Stolas tried to tell him the same thing: FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING COCK-SUCKING FUCK, FAKE-ASS BLUE BLOOD BITCH ASSHOLE WHO DOESNT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ME, I’LL STICK MY DICK IN ANY HOLE I WANT AND THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOU
ppl will really say shit like "astarion can't be attracted to women just look at the way he behaves" with their whole chest like they're not blatantly stereotyping gay men and erasing vast swathes of bisexual and pansexual men when they do that.
"jaskier isn't gay they ruined his character!!!" actually jaskier was bisexual from the moment he saw geralt across a crowded tavern and slut walked his way across that room like That to talk to him so just jot that down
I want a scene where Angel finds out that Husk is also into men and Husk is like, "Yeah, so what?" And then it quickly moves on to a different topic or conversation while Angel just looks at him like this in the background
i’m pansexual. in doing my research, both with myself and just with the world, i couldn’t say if i was bisexual, because i had to really see what that was, especially because i really have not gotten a chance to act on anything. so, i came to pansexual because — and i know that i’m completely messing up the dictionary meaning — but to me, pan means being able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, transsexual or non-binary. being able to be attracted across the board. and, i think, at least for me for right now, that is the proper place. i took pan to mean that not only can i be attracted to any of these people or types physically, but i could be attracted to the person that is there.
i’ve dealt with the shame. a shame cake, just eating it every single day — and then worried about… people finding out. i’ve always had a wonderful community of friends who are in the lgbtq+ community, people that i’ve grown up with in shows, gays and lesbians, and, later in life, my trans relatives and my niece. i’ve always had that community, but i've always felt like a sham because i wasn’t being forthcoming with myself. i could speak out about black issues because i can’t hide that. and you can play at being an ally, but until the day that you can truly say, “this is who i am, and i wanna stand next to you,” that's not… i always wanted that day to come.
i’ve told myself in the past, also, nobody needs to know my personal business. the world can absolutely go without knowing that wayne identifies as pan. but that gave me license to still live in the shadows and to be secretive. what does that feel like to actually not be shameful, to not feel like, “oh, i can’t be part of this conversation because i’m lying?” i had to break that behavior.
i’m now trying to be the most wayne brady i can be. i don’t know about most, actually. i’m still coming together. but if i’m healthy, then i can go onstage at let’s make a deal and be the best wayne brady that everybody wants and expects. i can be the best dad that maile needs. i can be the best friend to mandie, the best son to my mother, and one day, the best partner to someone, because i’m doing this for me. not dating yet though! [laughs] i am single, but it’s not about being with someone right now. i’ve got some work to do still. then, wayne as a single, open-minded pansexual can make a decision and be free and open to other people.
i included more quotes from the article than just strictly pan related because it’s quite touching. good for him!!!! 🌈👏🥰
This line is often used as a gotcha moment or weaponised by those erasing Astarion's pansexuality:
As a non native English speaker, I initially thought he was exclusively referring to men since 'handsome' is an adjective that I would solely use for men.
However, one of my lovely mods on the Astarion discord server pointed out that it was used for women as well back in the day.
And then I remembered this line from Pride and Prejudice:
I wanted to clear this out in case other non native speakers were unaware of it 😅
why do people gatekeep queer identies?? like,, isn't the whole point of the queer community that we're sick of being told who we are and aren't allowed to be?? stop shunning queer people for being queer in ways you don't like
So, I found this comment on a video where Neil Newbon, the voice actor of Astarion, confirms that Astarion is, in fact, pansexual. Not gay, but pansexual, and this person still feels the need to try to debunk it, then has the gall to be like "IT FEELS LIKE GAY ERASURE TO MAKE A CLEARLY GAY MAN BI/PAN FOR MARKETING PURPOSES" when they were literally spouting bi/pan erasure just because Astarion is theatrical and talks about men.
So... who's going to tell them that Astarion flirts with Shadowheart and Lae'zel, too? Who's going to tell them that relying on stereotypes is bad?
"It's so weird to watch Astarion romance videos with a female Tav". Well, it shouldn't. He's pansexual. If you can't stomach it, that's your problem.
