He knows from experience that you don't want to be caught up in all that and will plead with you to understand how awful your boyfriend is. It's your life at the end of the day, and he'll stick around with you regardless, just know that his vote is on you two splitting... and you're not going to be let around Duncan until Gage is out of the picture.

Nick will just stare at Gage when you first bring him into the Agency. After an uncomfortable amount of time passes, he'll sigh and ask if he can talk to your boyfriend alone. Piper will shove him away from you and threaten to get security if he doesn't get lost. She's amazed at the fact you chose him instead of literally anyone else in the Commonwealth and, as much as she loves you, she'd not going to blindly support a relationship she knows won't end in anything good. Piper will be annoying about how badly she wants you both to break up and won't stop pestering you until you do. Just be sure to keep an eye on Gage, if she keeps putting hands on him, he might start doing it back.

Curie is confused when you introduce him. Mainly because she only ever remembers the two of you shooting at raiders, not being friendly with them. Nevertheless, she's happy for you and will clasp her hands together excitedly at the prospect of you being in love! How cute!

Strong is probably one of the only ones on this list who approves. He feels incredibly proud that you've found additional groups of people to lead toward violence and holds a lot of respect for how brutal Gage can be in combat. It's something he really admires, however, he thinks the car parts that he wears look stupid, and he's very vocal about that.

initially, Hancock will act all friendly and kind, welcoming Gage to Goodneighbor and introducing him to the townspeople but, what you didn't know was that he'd arranged for him to be jumped while he was visiting. A sniper shooting at him from a window, a scaver yanking him into an alleyway with a hoard of triggermen, or Kleo simply attacking him; Hancock will hurt him somehow. It's all in your best interest. He'd hate for you to be a part of the wrong side of history, and besides, how could he ever live with himself if he knew he'd let some slave-owning, murderer date you?

Deacon is similar to Hancock in that he puts on a friendly facade when you finally bring Gage around. He acts as if they've known each other for years and will sling an arm around his shoulder and distract him with all sorts of outlandish stories before bringing the Deliverer out of his pocket and shooting him in his side quickly. He knows you'll be upset but, there's no way he'd let you run off to an amusement park filled with human-trafficking victims with this guy. He cares too much about you to let you follow a bunch of raiders.

X6-88 doesn't even wait for you to say anything before he shoots at him. He can tell just by looking at him that he's dirty and not a good fit for Institute life. If anything, he reminds X6 of Kellog, which isn't necessarily a good thing. The only way he'd be willing to accept the relationship is if you proposed for the Nuka-World Raiders to ally with the Institute to do all the heavy lifting on the surface. But that means the gangs would be willing to do something like that. It's a heavy offer, but he'd be content with it.

Old Longfellow will run stressed hands down his face as you and Gage sit opposite of him in a booth at the Last Plank. You can't be serious. Him?? This is the guy you'd been telling him about? It's a no from him before the two of you can even sit down. He wants you to find a man who will take care of you. Someone who's a gentleman. Don't ever bring another raider to meet him, he's never going to approve. He'll tell you that you're an adult and you can make your own decisions, but that he hopes you'll find an honest, hard-working man instead.

jj jumps out the car the second you've put it into park, "i'm going to get a cart!" he slams the door, making you flinch and then takes off towards the shop, behind the car

you sigh and flip the visor down, checking your hair in the tiny mirror before looking in the wing mirror, "jesus christ," you mumble, seeing jj throwing himself into the cart, legs in the air. you scramble to grab your keys, wallet and phone before hopping out of the car

the boy slowly rolls towards you, a grin on his face, "push me" he says, the wheels on the cart clacking as he draws closer

you cross your arms over your chest, "no j, get out" you say and look around to check for cars as he comes across the parking lot.

"no" he says simply. the cart starts to turn with his weight being on one end, he cranes his neck to maintain eye contact with you. he shakes his head to emphasise his answer

in his journey he's started to gain speed, you stare at him blankly as you move towards the back end of your car, "j, i'm not pushing you"

you realise jj is not going to get out the cart and while locking him in the car seems tempting you know he will manage to fuck something up, last time he took the handbrake off to see how far he could roll, he hit another car.

"push me!" he says again, putting his arms up in the air like he's on a roller coaster. people walk past staring at you and your child of a boyfriend, you chuckle at the stupidity of the situation

"fine but if a worker tells you to get out, get out" you grab onto the handles and pull, turning him around and then stride towards the store. jj waves his hand up at you as you enter

you're only at the store for snacks, knowing you’ll both be too stoned to drive later and you're going to need them, the munchies hit you and jj hard, every time.

steering the cart, and your boyfriend, towards the right isles you pass adults, giving them small smiles as you pass. they just shake their heads at you both

"beep beep, coming through" jj hollers when you reach the end of the isle. a woman, coming down the centre isle that splits all the others in half, screams sending jj into a giggle

"j, neither of us even like those ones baby," you try and reason with him, soft pleading eyes in hopes to get out of the store as quickly as possible

if you could see inside his head, you would see cogs turning as he tries to come up with something, "well, i might like them later?"

snickering you leave only the chips you like in the cart and move on to candy. you don't make the mistake of letting him too close to the shelves, leaving him in the middle of the isle while you pick out things

"afternoon ma'am," jj nods and salutes an elderly woman who tries to pass, "could you, uhm, pass me some of those," you hear him whisper, shortly followed by a, "thanks, have a good day"

your back is still turned, your arms full of candy and chocolate, "jj, if i turn around and there's things i didn't put in there, we are leaving" you say, bending to grab a couple more things.

"pfft, no" he scoffs, dragging out the 'o' and as you turn, he throws a pack of something you can’t make out, over the isle. in the distance you hear a smack and a man grunt. jj turns to you wide eyed, "go, go, go" he whisper shouts

you empty your arms into the cart and take off running, drifting around a corner into the bakery isles. both of you burst out laughing, you double over and lean on the edge of the cart, your head bumping jj's

"we have to go" you chuckle when the laughter dies down, jj nods and reaches over to grab a twelve pack of doughnuts and you make your way towards the checkout

the older woman on the till stares at you both as you load up your obscene amounts of snacks. jj does his best, throwing things up onto the conveyer belt, wincing when a bar of chocolate nearly hits the woman.

in all honesty you expect her to say something but she doesn't. you dump the things back on top of jj and pay before pushing him towards the exit, sighing when you hear a chip bag rustling followed by jj crunching

"can you just check the cameras? someone threw these over the isle and it hit me" a man grunts, stood next to the security station

jj tilts his head back looking up at you, "get to the car" he mumbles, his mouth full of food. you nod and dash out of the shop with the reminder to never bring him shopping with you again.

Peter thumbs the switch of the floor lamp beside him before discarding his mask, pausing as his brows lace together - scanning his surroundings realizing his normally warm and inviting home was dark and empty.

No Miles.

No MJ.

They should be up still.. the house should smell like fresh popcorn and the fireplace should be filled with orange flames as Miles and Mary Jane played through their newest video game together.

They always stayed up together for whoever was on patrol.. but tonight something was wrong.

Hair stands up straight on the back of Peter’s neck as he steps deeper into the home, the old wood floors creaking under the weight of each step he took.

He hears a small whimper - MJ’s whimper.

His stomach drops as he crosses the into Miles’ room.

“Shit,” Peter whispers, hot tears forming in his eyes as they fall upon Miles. Peter is frozen, chest rising as he approaches where Miles sat on the ground propped against his bed, crimson blood flowing from his abdomen as he stares up at Peter.

Peter drops to his knees, immediately inspecting the stab wounds on Miles’ stomach. Peter cries, cupping Miles’ face - his normally warm eyes now panicked as he stares at his wounded friend.

“I- I’m okay, Pete,” Miles tries to point to the door. “He has her. Go.”

Peter’s palm drops from Miles as he stands, gritting his teeth, “Where are they?”

Miles shakes his head, “I don’t know Pete. She… she stopped crying a few minutes ago,” he begins to cry. “He came through the window. We- we thought it was you, Pete. I swear. I promise I tried. My powers failed me.. I’m so sorry, Peter. I should have known-.”

“-No, Miles,” Peter interjects, dropping to his knees again and taking his friend’s face in his hands before planting a loving kiss to his forehead. His eyes meet Miles’, “There’s no need to apologize. You’re still learning.. it’s okay.”

Tears run down Miles’ cheeks as he nods at Peter, “I love you, man.”

“Where is she?” Peter asks, fists clenched as his chest rises and falls, “Where is Mary Jane?”

“Oh, the pretty one?” Harry’s voice is playful. “Pete, do you remember what I like to do with pretty women?”

Peter charges Harry, hands wrapping around his scaly neck as he begins to choke him, “I’ll fucking kill you!”

“Do you know who she cried for the entire time?” Harry laughs as he chokes. “You. And - and you - you weren’t there. You - you never are.”

Peter throws Harry against the wall before slamming him onto the ground, holding him by the collar as he screams, “Where is she?!” Peter’s fist meets Harry cheek, then his jaw, then his left eye, then his throat. Harry gasps for air as Peter pulls away, his face beet-red as he screams “Tell me!”

“Go to the bedroom,” Harry smiles. “I’ll just say that she couldn’t move whenever I was done with her.”

Peter immediately runs to Mary Jane’s bedroom.

“Fuck,” he whispers as he sees MJ laying naked on her toddler bed, “Mary Jane.” He rushes to her side, a scream escaping from his throat as he sees the markings all over her beautiful body. Her body already bruising from Harry’s abuse.

Peter lets out an anguished cry as his hands hover over Mary Jane, to afraid to take her into his arms.

She wakes, eyes lazily opening as she looks to Peter, “Peter.”

“You’re here,” a small smile spreads across her face, her busted lip ripping more due to her drying lips. She hisses.

Peter cries, “MJ.. MJ, I- I- I’m so sorry. Mary Jane… I wasn’t here to protect you. Or- or Miles…”

“But you’re here now,” she blinks before passing back about due to pain.

He sobs, taking MJ by the hand and planting a tender kiss to the top of her limp hand. “I’m going to take care of this, and then I’m going to take care of you and Miles.”

Peter’s face drops, wiping the tears from his warm cheeks as he steps into his bedroom and grabs Harry by the collar.

Peter’s face is expressionless as he starts to pummel his ex-friend - beating him to the point of being unrecognizable. His fists finally stop as he hears Harry’s skull crunch under his final blow.

The hero stands, staring at his work - the bloodied piece of shit lying dead on his bedroom floor. “No one fucks with my family.”

1 Weird Fact about each Companion

I have no explanation for most of these. They just seem right.

Cait: Is missing 2 teeth. One was knocked out from a fight, the other from her parents. She doesn't like to talk about how she lost the latter.

Curie: Raises animals in her spare time. Since being rescued by Sole from vault 81, she's had an interest in irradiated lifeforms, especially Rabbits and Radstags. Her favourite animals are Cats as she finds it interesting how they haven't evolved to combat the Commonwealth's radiation.

Codsworth: Still celebrates Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. He'll cook a big meal for the settlers at Sanctuary and force them all to take the evening off so they can relax and eat. Most of the settlers don't understand the traditions, but go along with it anyways.

Danse: Has never been drunk. First time Sole gets him drunk though, he steals one of Deacon's hats and starts dancing to "Uranium Fever" on the radio.

Deacon: Collects hats. I mean, for a master of disguise, you'd expect no less. But he loves really outlandish ones especially. His favourite is a comically large corn cob hat that looks like a Jojo hairstyle

Dogmeat: Favourite meat is Mole Rat meat. When Sole meets him at Red Rocket, he's chasing a Brood Mother and her children. Loves the chewy texture they have when their skin is dried.

Hancock: Eats flowers. He likes Dandelions especially, because of the fuzzy texture they have. Only eats them when he's on Jet or Buffout though, Menatat Hancock is too sophisticated for that.

MacCready: A big DCR fan. When he's travelling around the Commonwealth, it gets lonely, so he'll turn on the radio that's attached to his holster and listen to the Silver Shroud and Travis. Can sing "A Wonderful Guy" verbatim.

Valentine: Really good cook. He doesn't cook much, but when he does, it's delicious. Mostly it's just him and Ellie eating, and Ellie will gush to Piper about how good Nick's cooking is.

Piper: Grew up in a share-home. After her dad was killed when she was only 13, she and Nat were relocated to a share home for other orphans in her hometown. She likes the feeling of a busy home, as it keeps her from her thoughts, which is why she likes the noise of the Diamond City market.

Preston: Played the trumpet when he was small. His parents probably found it for sale for, like, 200 caps from a local vendor, and scraped together enough to buy it for his birthday.

Strong: Reads Shakespeare to Shaun to get him to sleep. He sits in an armchair next to his bed and reads it slowly, asking Shaun about words he doesn't understand. Sole often finds them both passed out with a play script in his hands.

X6: Sometimes wishes he was human. Solely so he can experience growing up and what Sole describes as "childhood innocence".

MacCready doesn't know what to do when he sees a kid walk straight into the Third Rail with nothing but a vault suit and a weapon they surely don't know how to properly use strapped to their side. He'll go up to you before you even get the chance to do anything else in here. He's so worried that someone in Goodneighbor will try to get you hooked on something, so he'll take you straight to Diamond City, even if he hates most of the people there. You remind him of himself when he was that age and he wants to make sure you don't do anything you might end up regretting. He almost adopts you in a way, never really leaving your side out of fear that you'll get hurt. MacCready will do whatever he can to help you reunite with your brother and will be on your side no matter what ends up happening.

Nick feels awful for you. You've lost everything yet here you are trying to gain some semblance of it back. He can't help but want to try and give you some kind of closure for everything you've gone through and will drop everything to try and track down Shaun with you. He's careful with his word choice as he doesn't want you to loose all hope, but he'll tell you the truth if leads end up empty or if there's nothing more he can really do. Nick's not going to lie and tell you everything will be okay, but he will tell you that he'll be there to help you feel better when everything is said and done, no matter how it all plays out.

Cait hates the idea of traveling with a kid, she's so scared that you'll end up like her. She'll do her best to be as closed off as she possibly can so none of her personality rubs off on you, and then she'll take you to an area safer than the combat zone. She doesn't care where it is, as long as you end up in the care of literally anyone else. After that, she'll leave and you'll never see her again.

Danse would immediately take you under his wing and train you to be a soldier. He wouldn't want to shelter you in any way, instead, he'd try to teach you survival and how to live out here in the waste. It'll almost feel like you're in the boy scouts as he'll teach you how to tie knots and make knives and whatnot. He'd hate if you ended up being swayed by the wrong people, or worse, if you ended up dead. He's constantly reassuring you about finding your brother and with the Brotherhood's help, you'll have nothing to worry about.

Preston would be quick to add you to the Quincy group. Something about you being so young and so determined makes him feel all sorts of ways. He's so incredibly appreciative you came along, although, he refuses to make you general, if anything, he'd just promote himself to that position while he takes care of you. Him and Sturges would teach you how to use a hammer so you could aid with rebuilding some of the settlements, but also to just give you a distraction from everything you experienced in the vault. Preston will be super understanding and kind toward you, and the Quincy survivors will begin to feel like the family you never got to grow up with.

Codsworth feels dreadful when he sees you walk down from the vault all cut up and bruised... and alone. He cleans you up and puts you down to sleep. Now that you have no parents he feels that it's his duty to fill that missing role for you and will constantly be doting on you just like your mother would. He finds it so noble that you want to find where your brother was taken and will do everything he can to ensure that you stay healthy enough to be able to continue forward, even if sometimes he struggles to find anything non-irradiated for you to eat.

Piper will be like an older sister to you, giving you a bedtime and occasionally making you attend the school in Diamond City. She's even more determined to get security to start looking into synths and the Institute when she hears you're story and will look into it more deeply while you're in class or busy hanging around Nick. She doesn't care that you're a kid or that this isn't the world you're used to, she's still prepared to defend you and have your voice be listened too.

Curie thinks it's amazing that you've come so far with next to nothing. Her Miss Nanny instincts make her want to travel with you if nothing else than to keep you safe. I don't think she'd have too much of a concept of how dangerous it is for a kid to be wandering around in a wasteland and would probably just treat it as any other normal day. You and her would learn a lot together as you wandered the Commonwealth and it'd probably be the most wholesome pairing on this list as you both still hold that childlike wonder and curiosity.

Strong thinks you're a good enough leader for making it all the way to the top of Trinity Tower with your size, and would agree to follow you just the same as if you were an adult. He thinks your goal in finding your brother is dumb and useless, saying something like "Won't find, Shaun most likely dead". He's got no remorse and if you ever cried in front of him he'd start insulting you. Nonetheless, he'll try to raise you as a mutant and convince you to start doing more mutant-like things. Someone would have to step in and get you or you'd grow up to be a cannibal.

Hancock freezes when he sees a child walking around Goodneighbor. This place isn't for you and he'll go up to you, take your hand, and lead you up to the Old State House to question you about why you're here and where you're parents are. He'll escort you over to Diamond City and hand you off to Nick. He knows he's a bad influence and would rather you be with someone who can actually help you with you're case rather than drifting around in Goodneighbor where anyone could snatch you.

Deacon hates that you joined the Railroad. It just isn’t the place for a kid to be around and he’d rather hand you off to any of the other companions, however, he can’t help but think of how good a kid spy would be or how badly he's always wanted to raise a kid. He’ll try to shelter you and keep you away from violence as best he can while also telling you jokes and teasing you about being the “youngest looking 200 year old” he’s ever seen. He has mixed feelings on it, but he does end up teaching you how to lie really well and get away with things you normally wouldn’t have. Deacon loves having you around, but he can’t help but feel you don’t belong in an environment like this and will almost certainly hand you off to someone else if he feels that it's beginning to get too overwhelming.

X6-88 isn't all too sure how to feel. He's not sure how you managed to make it all the way to the Institute, and he isn't sure why Father would just release you from the vault with nothing going for you. He thinks it's incredibly admirable of you to care so much about your brother and has high respect for you even if you're just a kid. He'll ensure that you'll never have to scavenge for food or water or any other resource ever again. Everything will be taken care of by him and he will make sure that you're 100% safe if you continue traveling the wasteland.

Dogmeat will be slightly more protective over you, sticking closer by your side as you wander around. Sometimes he'll even bite your shirt and drag you into some bushes to avoid a swarm of mutants or raiders. Besides that, nothing will really change with him.

Old Longfellow doesn't know why you keep hanging around him, but he doesn't mind all that much. He'll buy you some apple juice or something while you sit with him in the bar maybe even a sip of his beer and just listen to all your tales and stories of the Commonwealth. He'd end up just accepting that you probably won't leave him alone and just escort you to wherever you want. He might even take you on a boat and teach you how to fish if he likes you enough. One thing you can trust when traveling with him is that he'd never let anyone on the island take advantage of your young age or naivety. He's constantly on the lookout for anyone who might want to influence you in a certain way and will quickly put an end it if he sees it happening.

Gage can't help but laugh at his own expense when he sees a kid walk out of the Gauntlet and into the Cola-Cars Arena. How the two of you seemed to end up in the worst situations will always be funny to him and he hated that he had to be the one to announce you as the Overboss to everyone else in the park. He already knows Nisha is going to tear his throat out when she hears the news. He doesn't really expect you to live for very long and thinks you even being here is an absolute joke, but he'll treat you like he'd treat any other Overboss and would be amazed if you actually got the power working again. In fact, all of the other gang leaders would be. It'd almost be like having a bunch of older siblings defending you at every turn.
