I've been meaning to make a list of spooky (Thai - because negl that's 99% of what I watch) BL series and movies and what better time to post this than in October?
Spooky BL are my favourite flavour of BL. Turns out, there's actually a lot of them (maybe because Thailand does horror so well). These are only the ones I've watched (and enjoyed) so this list isn't complete.
*On another note: horror doesn't faze me at all so I can't really accurately say how scary some of these are. If you have squicks or triggers like jump scares, gore or bad endings please feel free to ask and I will do my best to give you a heads-up.
✨Spooky Thai BL✨
He's Coming To Me | Probably one of the first series everyone will think of. Not that spooky but a solid ghost(love) story with a murder mystery at its core.
Hidden Love | This is a budget show filmed under serious constraints during the worst of the covid pandemic. It's clichéd. It's over the top. But it's also got its charms. It comes with a tragic ghost (love) story that completely overshadows everything else with its many flashbacks and plot twists. If you manage to get over the camp. I warned you.
Tumblr media
Dear Doctor I'm Coming For Soul | This one has reapers and ghosts and lots of bittersweetness. It's not that creepy since the supernatural elements are very matter-of-fact. It will make you cry though, sorry. :(
Tumblr media
Ghost Host, Ghost House | Spooky with incredible chemistry between the leads and a cast of characters that you will immediately fall in love with.
He She It | A three-episode miniseries with a haunting soundtrack and a nice plot twist. This will make you miss JeffGameplay. :(
Tumblr media
Low Frequency | Not spooky at all, and a bit slow and empty at times, but it has ghosts (in a way) and a sweet enough couple.
Tumblr media
Make a Wish | Unfortunately, this has never had an inter release. There's inofficial subs floating around on grey sites but as of yet the series hasn't been fully translated. Which is a pity because it's a cute show about angels and spirit possession and (some) murder mystery.
Tumblr media
Midnight Museum | I'm stubbornly putting this under BL. This show has everything and everyone. It's genuinely spooky at times but mostly draws on folklore, the mystical and an absolutely stellar cast.
On Cloud Nine | Short and beautiful. An indie production that's more ethereal than genuinely spooky.
🎞️Red Wine in the Dark Night | The oldest entry in this list. Admittedly, not very spooky (and instead rather surreal and sad), but it has one (1) vampire and Fluke Natouch in a role that's more grounded than we're used to nowadays.
Tumblr media
Something in my Room | A spooky show with ghosts, mystery and romance that hides a lot of commentary behind metaphors and allegory. Criminally underrated because it didn't have a wide enough release. If you want to binge something fun and spooky for Halloween then this is the series to go. Prepare tissues.
✨Not a BL but hey, I know that actor!✨
Enigma | Win Metawin (and surprise guest!) in an incredibly well done 4-episode series about the occult with interesting worldbuilding and the promise of a second season.
🎞️Ghost Lab | Tor Thanapob and Ice Paris in a genuinely gruesome, shocking and scary horror movie. You've been warned.
Girl From Nowhere | One of the best things tv has to offer, and genuinely dark as well. Up Poompat, Pepo Nutchapan and James Teeradon feature in some of the loosely-connected episodes.
🎞️Hoon Payon | Phuwin Tangsakyuen, Up Poompat and Bank Nuttawat in a classic spiritual ghost story. More shocking than scary.
🎞️Inhuman Kiss | Oab Oabnithi and Great Sapol (sadly, not as a couple) in a sad and romantic take on a classic Thai legend.
Let's Fight Ghost | A Thai remake of a fun and somewhat spooky kdrama with spiritual themes. And Saint Suppapong.
🎞️Pee Nak 1, 2, 3 (and soon 4) | I'm biased because I really like this movie series. It's spooky but in a fun way. It has queer characters (as comedic relief - but not in a degrading way) and can get surprisingly deep. Watch this if you want to see (baby!) Tar Atiwat grow up on screen (because he's in all four movies). The third movie rewards you with some surprisingly sweet MeanPlan that might continue into the fourth movie.
School Tales | A Thai horror anthology centred around students at various schools. This series has Fiat Patchata, Kay Lertsittichai, Pepo Nutchapan, Mark Siwat and, most prominently, Saint Suppapong and Chimon Wachirawit in well-paced 50-minute episodes.
The Stranded | One of my favourite series ever. If you watched LOST then you know what to expect. This has 3 QL couples (Perth Tanapon & Mark Siwat, Win Pawin & Tanthai Tatchapol, Ticha Wongtipkanon & Chaleeda Gilbert) but don't expect any of them to get a happy ending. Sadly, this series ended on a cliffhanger and won't get a second season due to the lead actor's tragic passing and Nadao's dissolution.
✨Upcoming Spooky BL✨
7 Days Before Valentine | Death Note but make it even more of a BL. Patrick Rangsimant originally wrote this so I'm really excited. Plus, it will begin airing in November which is almost as good as October.
Tumblr media
🎞️After Sundown | A period ghost movie that hit Thai cinemas this summer to great success. There's currently no news on an international release.
🎞️Death Is All Around | Saint Suppapong coming through with another spooky production - this one about death and the afterlife. This also has Seng Wichai, Bas Suradej and Dun Romchumpa (presumably as a couple).
The Hell Guards | Chains of Heart but make it spooky. Oh, I am so excited for this!
My Imaginary Boyfriend | Based on another one of Pat Rangsimant's novels (my favourite, atually). This one is more grounded, and spooky in a more psychological sense.
Mystique in the Mirror | Another one of Pat Rangsimant's novels (and psychological horror too, by the looks of it). This one started filming back in early summer so it should be airing soon.
Tumblr media
Shadow | This series will air its first seven episodes on Halloween and that should tell you everything you need to know. It's a suspenseful (ghost?) story set in a Catholic private school.
Tumblr media
Spirit Reborn | This has the potential to be very spooky, with curses and spirits and past lives.
Tumblr media
SunsetxVibes | This is going to be messy and spicy but the short pilot trailer did have spooky undertones and possible spiritual themes.
The Whisperer | More psychological horror but this time not penned by Pat. Apparently, this has been in production for a while so hopefully we'll get some news soon.
Tumblr media
Zomvivor | The only zombie series on this list has entered pre-production and is slated to be released in 2024 (hopefully before October). Will it have BL? I don't know, but it stars pretty much all of domundi's acting couples (and more).
1000 Years Old | Will it be spooky? No idea, but it does have vampires and sometimes that's enough.

the Megaverse (part 1)
this project idea has been floating around in my head for almost 4-5 years now and has gone through a lot of changes, however I think I’m confident enough to sure my ideas now.
the Megaverse is a project I plan to make that has both multiple fandoms like Scp, Genshin impact, little nightmares and more fandoms I like as well as original stories, concepts and ideas.
however I’ve come to realise that most of this stuff especially if it’s from a IP like Genshin or little nightmares would be copyrighted so I couldn’t make anything out of it, however that was never my main goal to begin with, the actual reason I want to create the Megaverse is because I’m passionate about it, it’s not for money or anything worldly it’s because I enjoy telling stories.
so I’ve created this post to share my ideas and hopefully find some people who might be interested or could give some constructive criticism for it. Without further ado let me tell you about my ideas for what I am planning to create.
It will be split into two phases or as I am calling them ‘generations’ gen 1 is to establish the basic lore and build a foundation (get it) for gen 2 which will be the meat and bones of the story.
the Megaverse has three main universes in it I have titled the Delta, Zoda and beta, originally the Megaverse was one big universe but after a great catastrophe it got split into three separate but still interconnected ones.
fandoms included are the Scp foundation, little nightmares and Genshin impact for the delta, the Zoda has two original stories, a story inspired by famous horror movies like the ring and Friday the 13th, a story drawing and improving upon classic creepypastas and internet horror, and the netflix series brand new animal (weird I know, but please bare with me). Finally the beta has a main timeline as well as two converging timelines, the main timeline has an original story as well as devilman, one of the converging timelines has both the web series created by Darian Quiloy Vita Carnis and Trigun, and the other timeline has a teenage audience based version of the pbs kids show Wordgirl.
this is gonna be a long post so I’m gonna place the stories under the cut.
story one- Scp- the seven warriors
it’s about two cousins named Zira and Lyra hail who have recently joined the Scp foundation like their grandfather before them, they are tasked by a mysterious research woman known as Dr Rina Scarlette to recover the seven spears after a cult raids site 19 and takes them, they encounter 5 other young people working for the foundation and throughout the series are forced to defeat foes from the chaos insurgency, to dangerous cults and even monsters of unknown origins.
I know it’s probably not the best summary but I tried, this is going to be my first story I create so please I would really appreciate some ideas or feedback here.
story two- the arcadians
it’s an original story taking place in a world where there are humans but then there are also supernatural humans (there are multiple different types and subspecies like beastmen (from BNA) but they are usually just seen as a full humanoid species) the main setting for the story is a decently sized island off the coast of the British isles known as Arcadia (inspired by legends from the United Kingdom) which is said to be one of the sacred homelands of the supernaturals, the story follows a girl who lost her mother when she was young, her name is autumn and she has aspirations of becoming a doctor like her father, she eventually gets sent to Arcadia to study and she makes new friends with a bunch of other supernaturals including reuniting with a childhood friend. The story follows autumn and her friends as they slowly uncover the truth about Arcadia and are eventually forced to team up with another group of supernaturals from America known as the Halloween street heroes (read about story three for more details) and they manage to defeat an ancient evil.
story three- the Halloween street heroes
it follows the story of Satako (from the ring) after a powerful witch sacrifices herself to bring her back, she is discovered by a police officer and is soon relocated to Jewel Cove the city mad especially for supernaturals that borders Lake Superior in Michigan, she encounters several other supernaturals including her family on her mothers side The Dalane family (their basically one of the supernatural families that are like royalty) and she meets her cousin Jason (from Friday the 13th), she makes friends with other characters like the granddaughter of Freddy krewger, a version of chucky where he is a supernatural who can possess things or move things around telepathically and of course a young version of ghost face who can summon weapons. They eventually join the arcadians in fighting and defeating the ancient evil.
there are more stories of coarse but that’s all I can really share right now, but I will be making a part two or even three for the other stories so stay tuned.

questions 1 through 5 for any self insert you feel like talking about! :]
Oh ur a legend thank u for indulging me, l'm of course doin my self insert into the dr*amworks fantasy magic world who's with Jack
Tumblr media
1. what are the basics of your self insert? name, date of birth, height, etc.?
NAME: Devin Of Hell
GENDER: non-binary, They/Them (also accepts She/Her)
SEXUALITY: very bisexual
DATE OF BIRTH: June 15
HEIGHT: 5’7
My character is a magic user who bound their heart and mind to a demon (we r girly bffs and talk mentally almost all the time) and together they conjure nightmares in peoples heads for cash, it's like a hitman type thing but the target doesn't die they just can have their mind warped to believe things or be made afraid of things. We could do some really extreme shit with Bills mind hopping and altering abilities, but he's at a point in his existence where he does not wanna fuck with large scale shit. (he hath experienced death and does not wanna do THAT whole ordeal over again) and I simply have no interest in anything that could force me out of the shadows. I love being mysterious.
There's wanted posters for my character but they don't have pictures, just info that there's an evil wizard woman and a magic triangle poisoning dreams and warping minds, and to contact with any info (it's a really long shot for a wanted poster, most ppl who actually read it think it's a joke)
2. when in canon does your self insert come in? do you have a scene in mind for your entrance?
I do not view myself as a part of an actual movie plotline in any way, I just wanna insert myself into the world itself so not REALLY ever, I guess in terms of the movie years prior (cause then jacks alive LOL)
3. how do the other characters generally feel about your self insert?
I think I would be generally liked by people who don't know my evil deeds, I have a sadistic side but l'm polite and charismatic, so l'm truly one of those villains who'd be so nice the hero might go 'oh god I forgot this person manipulates minds and has no issue with murder.’ Which I WILL say this fictional version of me in this villainy narrative would be a lot more nasty than I am in real life, this character doesn't blink at violence and crime and finds specifically evil power extremely enticing.
So I genuinely think it'd be a 50/50 if a character would like nice Dev or hate evil Dev. Cant help being a Gemini!!
4. would you be considered a main character, side character, villain, or something else?
I am absolutely not a main character, l'm like side villain who shows up sometimes to assist if I’m asked, but usually fucks off cause I have my own thing going on, and I'm really not interested in stopping the heroes of a story or anything like that. I'm not interested in no large scale schemes, just having a good time.
5. does your self insert have any special powers or abilities?
I do not I am a standard human being with a highschool diploma and a song in my heart but because I am psychic linked to a chaos demon I can benefit from what he's able to do. I can Do magic spells and I have a small bank of knowledge on how to make a handful of potions without a recipe (or they're scribbled on stained post it notes that I keep in my wallet). My character also dabbles in Creating spells but they don't go super well often because that takes a lot of work and I give up easily LOL

Terror Toons 4 (2023)
Terror Toons 4 (2023)Due to several reasons I have not been doing reviews as often as I used to but I needed to write this one. I NEEDED to write it. Let me set things up with expectations. I was a big fan of the first film literally 20 years ago. Not because I thought it was amazing but because it was just shockingly silly , bizzare and that kind of nonsense that would shock normie film fans. It was a lot of fun to show people just for their reactions. Then parts 2 and 3 came and went and I was not too much of a fan. It was a bit of the same and just didn' do anything for me and I'm sure would be too weird for those pre mentioned "normies"… but.. but then came part 4. I was told it was an anthology and the post covid world of low budget anthologies don't exactly excite me anymore. So I went into this worried but only 30 seconds in, things changed… forever. The opening of this film explodes into visual overload and insanity so fast it feels as if Horonamus Bosch met Terry Gilliam in the digital age. it felt like that magnavox commercial where the screen literally exploded in your face. Then the movies starts and the screaming begins. The first short starts and gives us a mixed slash warped origin of the classic Terror Toon villains. It's so much a step up in concept , feeling, pacing and technical excellence then previous with a darker , scarier atmosphere. Imagine watching Adam Wests Batman one week and then seeing a multimillion dollar Batman movie the next week.So not to give any spoilers I will just say it feels like Alex De le Iglesia directed the hell scene in Bill and Teds bogus journey . Douglas Epps take on the less cartoony yet just as insane Dr Carnage is amazing. The killer gorilla Max Assassin is legit scary now. But it's the new sweet and innocent yet completely terrifying character Derrick or was it Eric that we meet that will change your life.I won't explain anything about him but you will know him when you see him. We get several other shorts but they definitely come in second to the first short however they are needed. Brinke Stevens stars and directs a short that is a much more sensible short that may have been fine on its own but felt a bit out of place, again only because the rest of the show was so wild. Brinke had made this short before thinking of connecting it to Terror Toons 4 , I'm pretty sure. It's a nice mellow out and does get us more Linnea Quickly and Debbie Rochon. Hell the cameos in this are wild. The third and fourth shorts come at you wild and fast giving no mercy. After the second short I was literally saying to myself "wait a Joe Castro film with no sexual symbolism, that's weird." but then the short The heads of Mr Switch comes at you and picks up for sexual lost time. This short is shocking, hilarious and ends so quickly you also want to know what happens next so badly. The most original villain in eons, all that and oh my god, Lizzy Borden is back. The final short gives us a 21 gun salute and takes us into the apocalypse . Oh look it's Rob Rhine of Girls and Corpses magazine , but of course he is here again. More cameos from more scream queen and b movie legends than you can shake a stick at in this octane charge non stop visceral explosion into madness as if Aphex Twin remade Monty Python's Meaning of Life. This is a huge achievement for the B movie world and even for those normie film nerds that may not understand this film , they will still be effected and never forget this facedive diving board launch into madness. So yeah I loved it. I'm exhausted.

My thoughts and ramblings for book 4 of HON: Untamed
(These are chronological throughout the book but are very random and I'm just posting it for fun.)
I knew that my gay friend was naturally the weakest link in the don't talk to Zoe chain. Sadly the twins answered me and not gay and therefore more sensitive and polite Damien.
Carmel colored used for Shawnee.
Aphrodite being just a place holder for humanity and Earth for Stevie Rae is really heartbreaking honestly. She may be a bitch but thats partially trauma.
"Swishy and fluttery" to describe gays, but Jack and Damien aren't that kind of gay, or Damien isn't and Jack is a little more. (Yeah, gotta love the gay writing.)
What hot guy scale. The bad boy hot guy scale.
"Kinda sexily sweating"
Stark's gift is such a mind bending and terrifying power. Like the ramifications of that kind of power is so untangible.
Humanity is different than being human.
Knowing what is to come is a little distracting because I don't remember enough to know things. Like I think Stark "dies" during this conversation but I also can't remember exactly.
"Sworn off sex, sex? I mean guys. And sex with guys." (Non direct quote)
And THERE IT IS! I fucking knew it.
"I just found you" -James Stark, thats heartbreaking. "I should have kissed more than just your hand, I thought I had more time."
Duchess is the most heartbreaking part of this whole ordeal.
Even the Nuns are feminists
"Kinda skanky" "kinda?" "I'm trying to be nice." "Ok, so am I." (Just more slut shaming.)
"I have to choose my humanity. And its not always as black and white as it may seem." -Stevie Rae to Zoey about being a Red Vampyre.
I can't remember Shekinah very well. I don't think she sticks around very long tho, I remember some characters and who dies but I can't remember exacts on most things.
"What if we outed you?" Why is the first assumption being gay and not the very obvious red marks?
Aphrodite getting so mushy about getting Maleficent is one of the cutest things ever. She is mean and hateful but not really because her own fault, she just needed the right environment.
I wish they would have acknowledged what happened to Zoey with Loren as sexual assault/rape.
God, Eric is unbearable.
I do not know this play like at all so I definitely don't understand the parallel at all. Gosh, thematic shit sometimes flies over my head, even with the AP Lit training lol.
Making out in front of the entire drama class is so dramatic and stupid lol.
Them forgetting lucifer was a fallen angel is hilarious as a Supernatural fan.
Kalona's obsession with cherokee women is probably because of Nyx's affection for the cherokee women.
The saw movies being scary is so stupid to me.
"Ok, that's majorly freaky."-Jack "It's totally queer"-Shawnee "And she doesn't mean that in the f-g sense"-Erin.
Zoey often forgets she can call upon all of the elements, like if something is attacking you call upon fire and make things burn.
Neferet is such a good actress.
Why isn't Shekinah reacting more to an adult vampire imprinting upon a fledgling?
The use of Cherokee legends, stories, and what not (idk what the correct usage of language for the use of Cherokee stuff is) is interesting, I like it cause I am Native but also having lived in Oklahoma is interesting.
Them underestimating the Ravenmockers on listening in to conversations was a huge misstep.
I love how much Aphrodite looks up to Grandma Redbird.
"Gay Tornado"
Of course Eric offered to give his blood for the cleansing ritual.
I'm waiting to see if my seething hate of Eric is justified through the whole story or not. If its just teen me remembering disliking him or if he earns it properly.
Zoey should have immediately thought of Stark when Neferet disappeared but I can see where she'd oversight that, but like, that's a GIANT mistake.
I love the descriptions of the rituals and the explanations for aspects of it, and it makes sense that Zoey would need parts of some of it explained to her.
Is this the first time Stevie Rae's tattoo was described? With the nature motifs, I can't remember.
Shekinah isn't very smart is she?
They had literally every piece of the puzzle but they never put it together.
Like they knew Stevie Rae would die at Neferets hands, that the earth would bleed, that Neferet was the Queen Tsi Sgili, that Kalona would be released, like they just didn't think anything through.
Poor Stark once again killing someone because his gift and it being someone Zoey knows and cares for. Then they just left him there.
Not me just chanting Kalona lol.
Like I'm just chanting Kalona in my mind lol.
Why would Nyx ever want them to bow to a man? Like its very matriarchal in the whole thing so why would Nyx send Erebus to be worshipped.
I know why I didn't remember Shekinah, she didn't last past a book.
All hell breaking loose in Tulsa on New Years isn't too out of normal lol.

Pokémon of the Week! #640: Virizion!
Tumblr media
Welcome, nerds, to Pokémon of the Week!
Where I, Sesh, generate a random Pokémon to highlight each week!
Last week, we covered Doug Dimmadome...er, I mean, Galarian Weezing and his non-stinkiness. You can find that post here:
This week is special, my friends. For the first time here at Pokémon of the Week, we have a legendary Pokémon as our featured guest! Virizion, on of the 3 (or 4) Swords of Justice from the Unova Region!
Tumblr media
I am really excited to cover this amazing Pokémon! It's got come pretty metal lore behind it that I can't wait to get into!
~ORIGINS~
Virizion, a Grass and Fighting-type, debuted in 2010's Pokémon: Black & White versions for the Nintendo DS. She (I assume...she has a female voice in the anime movie she's in) appeared along with 3 other legendary Pokémon referred to as "The Swords of Justice"; Terrakion, Cobalion, and Keldeo. They all share the Fighting-type and the "Justified" ability. They also all share swordplay-based moves, such as Sacred Sword, thus justifying the name of their group.
Tumblr media
Pokemon fans have collectively decided to compare Virizion and the others Swords to the Legendary Musketeers.
Tumblr media
For those unfamiliar, the famous French novel The 3 Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas feature swashbuckling swordsman characters, fighting for justice in the cruel world of the French monarchy. Virizion and the other swords have major comparisons to the 4 main characters in this novel (a couple movie adaptations have been made, which I will use screenshots from).
Tumblr media
Of the legendary Musketeers, Virizion herself shares a resemblance to Aramis. According to Bulbapedia, Virizion is "the best at swordplay" like Aramis, is feminine, and very romantic as opposed to the others in the group.
Tumblr media
The shape of Virizion's head also shares a stark resemblance to tricorn hats worn by Musketeers of the colonial era.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As far as the animal Virizion appears to be based on, fans speculate it shares qualities of an antelope or a stag of some kind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some really cool lore, amiright???
But what do the Dex entries say about our green Sword of Justice?
Generation 5 entries about Virizion say that you might wanna look out of this thing, saying that "[t]his Pokémon fought humans in order to protect its friends."
Huh?
FOUGHT HUMANS?
I'm getting Legends: Arceus flashbacks here...and now I'm getting afraid of what a potential Legends: Kyurem game might be like.
Other entries say that it "sprouts blades" from it's head and swiftly cuts it's opponents down, and that it moves so fast it's opponents can't land a hit.
This tracks with Virizion's comparison to Aramis, supposedly the quickest and most skilled of the Musketeers.
Other Dex entries from later games are mostly the same, with the exception of Sword versions Dex entry, which states that it teamed up Cobalion and Terrakion to protect their friends from humans.
So all the Swords of Justice attacked humans that were mean to Pokemon...got it.
Jeez, evil team beware...you might get skewered by angry sword goats.
Tumblr media
~DESIGN~
Here's Virizion's official artwork:
Tumblr media
Quoted from Virizion's biology section on Bulbapedia:
"Virizion is a stag or antelope-like, quadrupedal Pokémon that is primarily green. On the sides of its head are long horns that end in dull, curled points. It has a pointed snout with a black blaze running from its nose to the back of its head. Its face, hind legs, and underside are white. There is a pinked-tipped leaf on each side of its neck, and leafy tufts on its shoulders. On its back, there are pointed tufts of fur forming a medium-long tail. Its lower legs resemble knee-high boots with pink highlights at the knees, and it has black hooves.
Like the other Swords of Justice, Virizion battled against humans in order to protect Pokémon. Virizion attacks its opponents by first darting around them with whirlwind-like speed, before using its horns to swiftly cut them down. The horns are as sharp as blades. In Generation V, Sacred Sword was its signature move.
~ADVANTAGES~
It's a LEGENDARY POKEMON. I'm always going to start with that when we get a legendary featured here on Pokémon of the Week. Not only is there only one of Virizion in each game you find it in, but all it's base states are ridiculously high.
It's best base stat is Special Defense. In fact, it has the highest special defense out of all of the Swords of Justice. Field Virizion against Pokémon that know heavy hitting special moves.
It's Grass/Fighting-typing is very rare; there aren't many Pokémon that have that type combo. Use Virizion against Water, Rock, Ground, and Dark-types. It is also highly resistant to Electric and other Grass-type.
It's base Speed, true to the lore, it also very high. If you are needing to outspeed your opponent to win a match, use Virizion. Odds are you'll win that race.
It's signature ability that is shares with the other Swords, "Justified", makes it so that if it is hit by a Dark-type attack, it's attack shoots up by 1 stage each time. That's a huge advantage over Dark-types; a deadly combo with any Fighting-types moves, like Sacred Sword, against Dark-types.
~DISADVANTAGES~
Legendary Pokémon are hard to capture and even more difficult to train once obtain...but you all know that by now (hopefully). They level up slower than normal Pokémon and are harder to befriend.
It may be fast and able to take special attacks well, but it's base Defense is it's lowest stat. If it gets hit by a hard-hitting physical move, it will go down just as fast as it can move.
DO NOT use against the deadly BIRB. Do NOT field against Flying-types. It's Grass and Fighting-type combo makes it QUADRUPLY WEAK to Flying moves.
Tumblr media
Also avoid fielding Virizion against Fire, Poison, Psychic, Ice, and and Fairy-types.
~HOW TO OBTAIN~
As our first legendary Pokémon here on PotW, I would advise you to go mass-buy some Ultra Ball and Quick Balls...
Where can Virizion be found in each of the games it appears in? Well...as cool as Virizion is...it takes some tracking down.
Make sure to hit SAVE before battling this thing...as there is only one per game, as stated above!
Let's dive in.
In it's debut games Black & White, it can be found in the very depths of the Pinwheel Forest; a place called Rumination Field. You must battle and catch it.
Tumblr media
In Black 2 & White 2, it appears later in the game on Route 11, where (in a small cutscene) it jumps off of a cliff to battle you.
Tumblr media
In X & Y, it can only be obtained by trade from another game.
In the Gen 3 remakes Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Virizion (as well as Cobalion and Terrakion) can be found post-game while soaring on the Pathless Plain. If you want Virizion, it needs to be on a Monday or a Thursday...which is...oddly specific...
Tumblr media
In Sun & Moon, it can only be obtained by trade from another game.
In Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Virizion can potentially be found post-game in the Ultra Space Wilds on a Rocky World.
Tumblr media
Virizion is unobtainable in Let's Go! Pikachu & Let's Go! Eevee.
Originally, Virizion was yet another #dexitvictim when Sword & Shield were initially released. However, upon the release of the Crown Tundra expansion, you can find a Virizion (and the other Swords) via an event where you must track down 50 of it's footprints around the Tundra. Once you have done that, it will appear in the Giant's bed area.
Tumblr media
Virizion is unobtainable in the Gen 4 remakes Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.
Virizion is unobtainable in Legends: Arceus.
~COOL VIRIZION FANART~
Does a legendary Pokemon have cool fanart?
UM YES
Not even a question.
Tumblr media
Takin' a well- deserved human-slaying break, I guess.
Tumblr media
THE 3 POKETEERS! WITH HATS!
Tumblr media
Well, ain't that a snarky grin. Channeling her inner Aramis, I suppose!
Tumblr media
stabby stabby
Tumblr media
A cool marker-esque piece; she gettin' ready to Razor Leaf ya!
~CONCLUSION~
I've always thought the Swords of Justice were cool! Though, Virizion has been my favorite...
Mostly because the others become ROAMING annoyances to capture...
Nah, her design is neat, and Aramis has always been my favorite 3 Musketeers character.
What are your thoughts on Virizion? Let me know!
Join me next week for...ANOTHER LEGENDARY! The goodest boy with the shield, Zamazenta!

what are your inspirations?
Well depending on what exactly you mean, this answer gets really long.
Many of the video games and shows of my Very Young Life, one specific older family member, and every time I see a piece of art that is strange in execution and/or in concept and go WOAH!!! Also the TRS-80 Model IV my favorite device ever.
Here is the shortest general list I can come up with off the top of my head. It is not at all comprehensive, but it includes many of the works that were influential to my personality and creative style:
Psychonauts
Okage Shadow King (experienced only through letsplays)
LittleBig Planet series
Gregory Horror Show
Destroy All Humans for the ps2 (too young to be playing this and was bad at it so an older family member finished it for me)
Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Wii Port (same as above)
All cartoons I watched at age 6 (Invader ZiM, Powerpuff Girls, Felix the Cat, the original Transformers cartoon on VHS but I thought it was boring, classic Scooby Doo, and classic Tom and Jerry)
Princess Tutu (Princess Tutu made me crazy insane + Was young enough to still play pretend when I watched it and thus would reenact every seen with Rue in it as Rue)
Source Engine (constant and early exposure to GMod, HL1+2, Portal 1+2, TF2, and various SFMs and YTPs. This made me normal.) (Watched older family member play these)
The Stanley Parable may also count as Source Engine stuff but I had all of the Narrator lines memorized when I was like, 8 or 9. I was insane about this one in a special way.
DOS games such as Princess Maker 2 and Star Control II
Spore the best video game ever (Watched older family member play this and extensively cheated when I played it myself)
Sid Meier's Civilization IV (Watched older family member play this)
I used to roleplay Flowey extensively on Shamchat during middle school.
2001: A Space Odyssey. I first read the book in middle school and then watched the movie years later and my brain blew up.
Fallout New Vegas (Watched older family member play this)
Older family member also taught me how to program at age 11 using QBasic on a TRS-80 Model 4. This TRS-80 later survived a flood.
As for various concepts that I like. I have been autistic about robots and AI since I was 5, and have been equating the mechanical and the divine since 2018 (looks nostalgically at Omega one of my favorite OCs ever) and so you know. The inherent transgenderism/autismism and various things wrong with my brain and personality of being designed for a singular purpose but because you were designed poorly you are unable to fulfill the role that you were built for.
If you have something more specific, let me know! I am also inspired by every time I see someone on here who posts a drawing and it looks cool.
Tumblr media
This is the TRS-80 Model IV by the way isn't she awesome? She's an older sister to me. I miss her every day of my life.

I’m not too familiar with your OC’s to suggest Head Canons atm, but I do have some QnA questions from discord instead if you’re up for that instead? 👀 also your art is amazing I love it sm
1. What’s your characters biggest fear?
2. What’s something that will make them give up?
3. What’s your favorite detail about their design?
4. Does your character have a special ability?
5. What’s your characters favorite movie?
6. An important object they own?
7. What’s their type (romantic interest)?
8. AND FINALLY- their hobby?
I didn’t realize it would be this long sorry 💀
I don't mind that it's long, and I'd be happy to answer these for you! Since you didn't specify an OC I'll go with Karma because I love talking about them :>
(Also sorry for the late reply, I got distracted and forgot that you sent this in 💀💀)
Karma has a plethora of fears, but by far his biggest is forgetting things. It can be something small, or something big, but either way it makes his head buzz and spark pulse way to fast for it to be healthy. It gets worse if he forgets people, places, or things that he normally considers to be close to him.
I am struggling to understand this question because it's kind of broad? But, if we're referring to giving up in fights or something it would be him realizing what he's doing. Sometimes he starts fights without realizing what he's doing (memory lapses are generally the cause) and then he snaps back to reality and stops as soon as he does. It's honestly pretty hard on him.
My favorite detail about Karma's design has always been his helm! It's been the most consistent thing in each iteration of his design and has always been a staple of his design!
Karma doesn't really have a special ability per se, but he can take his small wings, detach them, and turn them into swords if he ever has to. The cones on his shoulderpads can also open up and fire lasers, though he basically never uses them.
If he had a favorite movie it would probably be Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole or something, but honestly I am blanking hardcore on movies right now so I don't know if he'd like it much or not
I mentioned this object on this post, but an object he cares a lot about is a necklace that he got back when he was still under his mentor's wing on their colony world. The mentor didn't give it to him though. It's a necklace with a cluster of Ametrine crystals on it. It's very pretty :>
What he looks for in a partner is a little hard to pin down, but he likes when a bot is compassionate about what they love and generally pretty caring. Even if he doesn't exactly believe that he deserves any of it, he still appreciates it in his own way. Oh! He also appreciates when they aren't to chaotic or loud, but it's not necessarily a deciding factor when it comes to a partner
Even though it's also part of what he does as a job, he's always loved astronomy and learning about space in any way he can. Travelling to new planets, taking samples from said planets, looking into the stars- all of it is an outlet for him. He's calmest when talking about the stars or studying space as a whole
Whew that was long, but I really did love talking about this! Talking about my OCs is something I will never get old of, and asks like this really make my day! Thanks for sending this in (again!).

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them?Thanks....
Sure thing! Narrowing it down will be tough though, so buckle up lmao
**Spoiler warning for Persona 5, Your Turn To Die, Percy Jackson (and related series), My Hero Academia, and Danganronpa 2**
Here are my top ten (in no particular order, with explanation):
1. Sakamoto Ryuji (Persona 5)
I can still remember my slow dissent into absolutely loving Ryuji. I related to him a lot personally and I really admire how he takes care of his friends throughout the game. Even if he's loud, he really cares about everyone to the point that it riles(?) him up (relatable content lmao) and I just generally really appreciate him within the game and the arc he goes through with his injury. He's also one of the characters within the Phantom Thieves that is totally one-on-one friends with all of them? You have the obvious, with Ann, Morgana (even if he and Morgana fight), and Yusuke, but he checks up on Makoto a decent amount throughout the game and the spinoffs - he admires her, in a way, and I can't really explain it without a powerpoint lmao. He's one of the few that got along with Futaba pretty immediately, him and Ann doing really good at talking with her, and even with Haru he cared about her and was pretty immediate wanting to take down Okumura with the awful situation she's in (though all the Phantom Thieves pretty much were). Anyway, he's just pretty awesome, and my only problem is Atlus' bitchass need to have the best friend character want to perv on women and the need for "comic relief", and that shit comes up mostly random and honestly contradictory to his character, but that deserves its own post. Also also, the gender envy this man gives - I don't wanna be a guy, I just wanna have Ryuji vibes.
2. Egokoro Nao (Your Turn To Die)
Almost every character in YTTD is absolutely amazing and so truly believable that it honestly takes my breath away, but Nao just did so much and overcame so much. The way she tricked that evil AI? Fucking flawless - I am floored to this day. She appeared weak, but she was actually one of the strongest there, overcoming shit and taking burdens when she knew Sara had shouldered too much (like pushing doll Reko so Sara wouldn't have to). I was so upset when she had the sacrfice card, like that was so goddamn rude. Her connection with Reko was really sweet, her flashbacks with Mishima made me tear up, and her newfound closeness with Alice (if he lives instead of Reko) is just amazing. She was one of the best of us and I'm still mad she's gone. There was no saving her, and honestly I wanna cry.
3. Tazuna Joe (Your Turn To Die)
Joe!!!! My beautiful boy! You also couldn't save him, but in that one chapter he's here he was DOING it. He is the definition of a best friend and he would literally go to hell and back for Sara. I loved the element of him not trusting the group because of the chance of a traitor, but then coming around and holding his head high for his own death. Like I literally have nothing to say except that he's amazing and deserves the world over and over again like-
4. Nico di Angelo (Percy Jackson Series)
Okat I literally can't get into why I love him because I will fucking spiral and none of y'all would ever see me again because I would be forever writing this post to explain how awesome he is. Nico di Angelo is iconic - he is a legend, and he is the moment. Kinda off topic, but I had known he was attracted to Percy since the first series, and I only had one friend who had read the series too and when I told her that she was flabbergasted. Like you could not convince me it wasn't straightup written in words - I fully believed that the first series mentionned that he had a crush on Percy, and when I reread it to read HOO, they never say it????? And then in HOO, Annabeth starts talking about how Nico had been crushing on her and I was so lost (but that was just Annabeth misunderstanding). Anyway, always thought that was funny, but seriously, he deserves the world. He is the strongest and most caring demigod in that series, and I will throw hands if needed. I want only good things for him, cause y'all only know the bullshit life put him through. And yet after everything, he still wants to do the right thing and will save everyone's asses again and again.
5. Piper McLean (Percy Jackson Series)
Now SHE is the MOMENT. The Lost Trio is my absolute favorite grouping of characters cause their friendship is so real, but Piper is just amazing. Her development from trying so deliberately not be girly into using emotion (which girls are always called to emotional) as a strangth and playing around more with setreotypical girly things while being no less of a badass? Give this girl a metal. I hear any hate for her and I start seeing red - she isn't just the not-like-other-girls trope, she grew from that - that was part of her development and y'all completely missed it. Y'all judge her for that as if you didn't also have a phase where you thought you were cooler than girly shit. I know y'all said you were one of the boys, or aren't into One Direction or something and thought that made you cooler. She is so incredibly strong and you could see the changes in her self-confidence in each and every book - and she was pretty much the only one of the seven that was deadass friends with everyone on the ArgoII (save for Nico, which is a crime that basically all characters commit). Ugh, she's just amazing!
6. Jason Grace (Percy Jackson Series)
Now this is the one I see people deadass sleeping on. The amount of bullshit I see about Jason is insane, and almost every post I've seen hating on him contradicts itself or other posts as to why he sucks. His arc is pretty damn clear to me when it comes to his whole thing about choosing which camp to belong to. I really appareciated that it wasn't just a clear switch into being Greek - he chooses Greek in HoH, but in the last book his loyalties are still in question, because it's not that clear cut, and he finally chooses both - he will go between both camps. And honestly, the seperation of Greek and Roman was part of the problem as a whole, making the two camps enemies instead of comrades, and Jason's a big part in helping that rift, becuase it's a rift he feels inside himself too. Being part of the Lost Trio (aka team low self-esteem) he has problems with making decisions and actually seeing himself as being a good fighter, especially compared to other people. He never gives himself enough credit for the achievements he has, and struggles with not wanting to be a leader but also needing to be since it's all he's ever been told to be. He cares about other people and (despite what some say) is pretty emitionally aware of others. He knows immediately that something is wrong when Leo comes back from Calypso's island, he knows that Reyna kind of has feelings for him (even if he doesn't do anything about it, but I'm sorry, if I have a hunch that someone is into me, I'm not saying shit unless they say something, and I think it's bullshit that y'all say he's stringing her along when he literally never shows reciprocation, and even then he feels bad and aknowledges that he should have done something), and then there's Nico. He is one of the only people that actually make an effort (if I see another post about how Frank should've been the friend to reach out I'll foam at the mouth - he only made a half-assed effort because Nico was Hazel's brother, try me) and he pretty quickly understands that Nico is attracted to Percy, and he handles it the best way you can. He keeps it to himself while still making sure Nico knows that he supports him 100%. My favorite thing though? He gives bear hugs. Jason is a really friendly guy and he hugs his friends excitedly without a second thought (except no actually, because he respects boundaries and stopped himself until Nico gave him the go ahead) and I love that so fucking much. Also, just like everyone in the Lost Trio, he is bisexual - I don't make the rules.
7. Bakugou Katsuki (My Hero Academia)
Another character that I straightup can't explain because a) I'll be here forever and ever, but also b) I am nowhere near good enough with words to explain some of the nuisances. That sounds pretentious but baBY there is complexity here. Just know that he is a character that fundamentally changed me, and he deserves a longer explination then this.
8. Kirishima Eijirou (My Hero Academia)
Kirishima can be hard to explain for me because I heavily relate to him (like kinning shit in the modern sense of the word). He cares so much, his definition for what is manly is absolutely correct no one is doing it like he is, and his insecurities make sense. Even though he comes on strong and seems unwavering, inside he doubts himself constantly and doesn't think he does enough when he really does so much (uh oh, I'm seeing myself in this fictional character). One thing that is key that I have to mention is his dynamic with Bakugou and the way he thinks Bakugou is cool even though (on paper) Bakugou seems like the type of asshole he wouldn't like. I just really appreciate that and what it says about Bakugou as much as what it says about Kirishima. Tangent, but one day I was thinking about how I would totally definitely dislike Bakugou irl, but then remembered that there was once a person (let's call them Olive) in my class, and Olive didn't give a shit about getting along with everyone, only doing what they needed to do. They had amazing grades and were all-around talented, and the rest of the class thought they were rude/an asshole. Me though? I looked at them and admired them, deciding that I was going to be their friend. So I talked to Olive, and just kept doing it and eventually they were one of my best friends, and they admired me in return...... I deadass went through the Kirishima/Bakugou friendship arc. Like I don't know what to do with that.
9. Tanaka Gundham (Danganronpa Series)
He deserves a standing ovation. The way he sees himself as evil/cursed when he was saving all our asses? I can't. He had one of the best trials/motives of the entire series, let alone game. Him and Nekomaru did what needed to be done, because he was absolutely right - even if it's a nice sentiment to not kill each other no matter what, what's the point if we all die? There was mutual agreement within the fight and eventual murder, and Gundham still tried in the trial because you don't give up on life. No matter the outcome of that trial, he could be content knowing he fought for life (be that his own or the lives of everyone else) and honeslty that's just so cool of him. He was such a fun character to have, and that fourth trial just cemented everything.
10. Kuzuryu Fuyuhiko (Danganronpa Series)
The character development baBY. Entering the second game I was so scared he was going to be Byakuya 2: Electric-Boogaloo (yes I hated Byakuya with a burning passion - even if I mellowed by the very very end of the game, I will forever be mad about him stringing up Chihiro like a bitchass). When trial two hit I was straight sobbing - and the execution? I was pleading that he hadn't died too. And after that he did his very best to help everyone. He became one of the most helpful people of our group and was a really good friend. After him catching Hajime and Mikan, I had a running joke of calling him Abstinence Police during my playthrough, cause he really does object to sexual shit other characters say and it's a great bit. What really stuck with me was Peko knowing that Fuyuhiko would probably not be able to forsake everyone else, because his tough-guy act really was just that - an act. Tying in with my Abstinence Police thing, he literally threatened to sell someone to a whore house (which, even though I'm laughing, is fucked up) but he would literally never do that - he's out here saying that you're in high school! You can't have sex! after that threat, like babe. All this to say, I appreciated him and that similar need he had to come across as tough that Mondo had in the first game.
Honourable mentions:
Takamaki Ann (P5), Akechi Goro (P5), Yabusame Reko (YTTD), Shinogi Keiji (YTTD), Mioda Ibuki (DR), Chabashira Tenko (DR), Souda Kazuichi (DR)
Thanks for the ask! This was a lot of fun (even though I'm pretty shitty at explaining, and even picking honourable mentions was tough cause there are still characters I wanna add lmaoo)

End of the Year Questionnaire!
Saw some End of the Year questionnaire thing going around and wanted to do it. If anything for myself as a way to review this year.
1. Song of the year? Alestorm ~ P.A.R.T.Y.
No brainer here. This song has been living rent free in my head for the last 7 months since its release. 🤘🏻
youtube
2. Album of the year? Dragon Ball Z: Movie 8 - Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan
Not new by any means, but dang watching this movie again this year and hearing that early 2000's American metal soundtrack. Ingredients for an EPIC childhood right there. 🤘🏻😝🤘🏻
youtube
3. Favorite musical artist / group you started listening to this year? Alestorm ~ The pirate power metal band
Pirate Metal is the genre I didn't realize I needed in my life until I heard them.
4. Movie of the year? Dragon Ball Z: Movie 8 - Broly The Legendary Super Saiyan
Again, not new, but I rewatched it for the first time in YEARS and it was just as glorious, if not more so, than the last time I watched it. That 1993 animation and again, the English dub metal soundtrack hit me HARD! Broly's still my favorite DBZ villain even if he's non-canon. The idea of an bloodthristy evil Saiyan, let alone an incredibly powerful Legendary Super Saiyan, is such an interesting concept.
Tumblr media
5. TV show of the year?
I rarely watch TV outside of anime... might have to go with the new My Hero Academia season. The non-stop action and fight scenes has been very welcome.
6. Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you?
Nothing stands out at this moment... but to go along with the previous answer, there was that one episode where Mirko kicks the ever living daylights outta those disgusting freakazoid Nomus in MHA was pretty dang cool! Go, bunny! 🐇
Tumblr media
7. Favorite actor of the year? Nobody!
I don't idolize people. That way I can't be disappointed when they inevitably let me down. 🙃
8. Game of the year? The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (PC PORT)
Technically an unofficial re-release, BUT without a doubt this is my GOTY. Absolutely freakin' phenomenal. It's objectively the BEST video game ever created finally freed from it's console shackles on PC Master Race. Seriously, 60 fps, true widescreen, gyro support, restorations, gameplay enhancements, built-in randomizer, mod support, RESHADE, you name it. Fans always treat Nintendo's games better than Nintendo and this clearly shows it. Bless the team behind the Ship of Harkinian port. They made a lot of dreams come true this year.
Tumblr media
9. Best month for you this year?
Every month I draw breath is a good one!
10. Something that made you cry this year?
HA! I don't cry, but no seriously I feel like there was something I watched this year that made me teary-eyed, but I can't remember... Oh, well, must've not been that important then!
11. Something you want to do again next year?
Play more old games. 🎮
12. Talk about a new friend you made this year.
I don't make new friends, BUT my best friend I haven't seen since 9th grade of high school visited me in person for the first time in nearly 13 YEARS! Let me tell you something, best friends are the ones that will never fade over time and will always be there. That's amazing and I'm lucky to have 'em! 🤗
13. How was your birthday this year?
I aged. Another reminder of my fleeting mortality. 💀
14. Favorite book you read this year?
I don't read books. 🚫📚
15. What’s a bad habit you picked up this year?
I don't do bad habits.
16. Post a picture from the beginning of the year.
Jan 13th, 2022. My first Sims screenshot of the year. Deadpool staring at the camera while lightsaber dueling one of my Miqo'te OCs.
Tumblr media
17. Post a picture from the end of the year.
Dec 6th, 2022. Aaand my last screenshot of the year... is a smug shirtless Sasuke. Well okay.
Tumblr media
18. A memorable meal this year?
Pizza 🍕 (probably the one I shared with my long time friend if I'm going to be sappy about it.)
19. What’re you excited about for next year?
Playing more video games.
20. What’s something you learned this year?
By far the biggest lesson I learned is new things suck! Nothing is better than the old stuff. Games, shows, all of it. Too many remakes/ reboot cash grabs that are shameful in comparison to the classics.
21. What’s something new about your place of residence (room, home, or general location) now vs the start of the year?
Nothing. It's exactly the same. Just the way I want it. WELL I might have a few more anime figures and a Monokuma plush that I didn't have before...
23. Favorite place you visited this year?
Wait... did I leave my house this year?
24. If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be?
"I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise."
Tumblr media
25. Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions?
Play more old games. 🌟 Yeah, I did and I want to play MORE! 🕹️
26. Did you create any characters (in games, art, or writing) this year?
I assume this means OC's... Well uhh, I made a lot of sims recreations, not many OC's. I guess I just don't have a lot of "original" creativity! Oh, but there was that werewolf girl I designed. She's cool!

Fred Saberhagen’s Dracula
I realize I’ve been posting a lot about vampires lately.  This is partly because of how much I disliked the new Interview with the vampire AMC+ series (Though the actors and acting are good. It’s the writing and showrunning I dislike).   And partly because I genuinely loved The Invitation as the best new Dracula movie I’ve seen in years.
In a comment in my Sandman Facebook group someone mentioned the book An Old Friend of The Family and did not seem aware that this was actually the third book of an on-going book series.
As everyone has been talking about Anne Rice lately I would like to draw attention to an underrated vampire book series.   This is a book series that comes very close to being my favorite book series.   It might even be my favorite book series.  It’s nearly tied with Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman.
Fantasy author Fred Saberhagen passed away in 2007.  My favorite books of his are a book series sometimes called “The New Dracula” or “The Dracula Sequence.”  Mostly today they’re just called Fred Saberhagen’s Dracula books.  And I love them.  I frankly think of them as the best vampire book series I’ve ever read.
1,   The Dracula Tape - The first book in the series was published BEFORE Interview with the vampire and features Dracula telling his side of the novel Dracula into a tape recorder.  It’s interesting and has some funny moments.  If you pay attention you can tell you’re dealing with an unreliable narrator.
 2.  The Holmes-Dracula File.  This was a Sherlock Holmes story that was supposed to have a surprise reveal about half-way through that the “Old man” character was actually Dracula however Fred Saberhagen’s publisher insisted on the title that gave away this plot twist.
3.   An Old Friend of the family.  The Southerlands (Direct descendants of Mina Harker) are in trouble.  After a murder and kidnapping the family is forced to use a magical invocation to call upon someone for help.  Someone that calls himself “An old friend of the family.”  Think of it as being like Taken but with Count Dracula as Liam Neeson.  This is my favorite of the series.  When I met Fred Saberhagen’s widow online she sent me a rare signed copy of this book which I use as the banner at the top of my Facebook page.
4.   Thorn.  This one is not so great.  It’s one of those stories (like in The Sandman) to reveal that Dracula isn’t always nice and, in fact, was even abusive to one of his wives (He had two wives in his mortal life).  It’s partly set in the fifteenth century and partly set in the “present” (late seventies / early 80s).  You can skip it if you want.
5.  Dominion.  This one is one of the two in the series I do not like.  The only interesting thing about it is the interaction between Dracula and a homeless man that turns out to be THE Merlin from Arthurian legend.  Merlin doesn’t like him and that makes things a little fun.
6.  A Matter of Taste.  This is a return to form as it is has the same good qualities of An Old Friend of the Family.  This one is one of my favorites.  Johnny Southerland (who was rescued in An Old Friend of The Family) is getting married. And he feels his fiancé has the right to know that his family is protected / stalked by Count Dracula.  “Uncle Matt” (Drac) quips “Why? I’m not marrying her.”   Someone tricks Dracula into drinking poisoned blood. It won’t kill him but it will temporarily incapacitate him. So Johnny and the Southerlands must now protect their old friend from his enemies. There are two things I really like about this one.  1. Dracula’s work-around about not casting a reflection in mirrors. He won’t cast a reflection in a mirror but he DOES show up on camera so he replaced his home’s mirrors with flat screen televisions (this was 1990 so the technology was very new) and a hidden camera so he essentially invented what we today call Smart Mirrors. (Again, this was 1990.)
I also really liked the origin Dracula is given in this novel. It’s sort of a non-origin.  As the historic Vlad the Impaler he was assassinated and his head was delivered to the Ottoman Sultan.  Well, in this version it was a look-a-like’s head given to the Sultan and loyalists took Dracula’s head and body for burial.  While preparing him the candles kept going out and the head appeared to be re-attaching to the neck as the wounds healed. This spooked the loyalists so they hastily buried him at a crossroads where he woke as a vampire some time later.  Dracula calls it a transition of will that he refused to die but in reality he doesn’t know how he became a vampire.  Most vampires in these books are made via a blood exchange. He is NOT the first vampire but he does eventually proclaim himself king of the vampires and (mostly) everyone just goes along with it.
7.  A question of time. This is the only book in the series I actually hate.  Dracula is barely in it. It deals with time travel and the grand canyon and it effects nothing if you skip it.
8.  Séance for a vampire. We go back to the Victorian era for another Dracula / Sherlock crossover. Watson is forced to call on Dracula for help. He doesn’t like or trust Dracula. There’s a daring rescue from a carriage and some other great scenes.
9.  A Sharpness on the neck.  There are a few minor homophobic overtones in this one but I chock it up to the fact that Dracula is really an old man from the fifteenth century and this was written by an old man.  A headcanon excuse I have for it is Dracula hasn’t come to terms with his own sexuality.  If you read the earlier books he got REALLY attached to Joe Keogh, who married into the Southerland family.  And Drac stalks him in very much the same way he does the women of the family.  Yeah, I think he’s bi.
Anyway, in this book Dracula’s mortal-life brother Radu (also now a vampire) is holding a grudge against a family dating back to the French Revolution.  So Dracula (dragging the Southerland family along) uses this couple as bait to lure out his brother.
10.  A Coldness in the Blood.  This one is set in 2003.  Tensions are high between Dracula and The Southerlands who seem a little annoyed at all the chaos he’s brought into their lives.  In example- one of the younger members of the family was setting up “Uncle Matt’s” computer for The Internet when he may or may not have been psychically attacked by an Egyptian Crocodile God.   How do you get used to things like that?
There’s actually sweet reveal near the end where a very young member of the family reveals his middle name is “Vlad.”  (Aww, they do love him). There are also three short stories which can be found in the Saberhagen Vampire tales collection available on Amazon.  I wrote the introduction for it in 2019 but the link on the site credits the wrong Amanda Pike. Oh, well.
The stories entail  Box Number 50 - My personal favorite short story.  It deals with two orphan children who protect Dracula during the events of the original Dracula novel and how he repays them for the favor. From the Tree of Time - This is another Sherlock crossover. A drop of something special in the blood - About Bram Stoker encountering actual vampires.

Dam! - Film Review: Hundreds Of Beavers ★★★★
Tumblr media
Tired of watching the world circling the drain? Would you like to smile for 108 minutes? Then trust me, drop everything and watch Hundreds Of Beavers now! This low-budget indie instant classic marks the feature directorial debut of Mike Cheslik who spent 4 years making it, including over 1500 effects shots in freezing temperatures in Wisconsin and Michigan. Remember that name.
But wait! There’s more! The story of Jean Kayak (co-writer and producer Ryland Brickson Cole Tews), a drunken Applejack salesman who goes on an epic journey across the frozen tundra to hunt and kill the aforementioned beavers in order to win over a strong-willed Furrier (Olivia Graves), is told in black and white with almost no dialogue. Although such influences as Looney Tunes, Buster Keaton, and the surreal films of Canadian legend Guy Madden shine through, this live action/animated hybrid remains in a class of its own.
Tews invites comparisons to the client era greats such as Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd and holds his own with his bumbling, idiotic, yet crafty hunter. Despite facing one obstacle after another, much in the style of an anvil dropping on the Coyote as he chases down the Roadrunner, he always bounces back and stays true to his mission. The beavers, along with assorted rabbits, wolves and raccoons, all appear as actors in mascot costumes. It looks like the world’s largest furry convention as we watch the animals build dams, evade traps, and ultimately concoct a hilariously unexplained science fiction project.
At first, I thought this could have easily been a ten minute short, but the grand scale of it all won me over as the filmmakers consistently raisied the stakes and the mayhem factor. Every time Jean gets his tongue stuck on an object, a hook plunged through his hand, or an sudden icicle formed when he exhales, I had a terrible case of the tee-hees. You’ll witness literally dozens of whiz-bang scene with every single shot having something interesting and unexpected happening somewhere in the frame.
As Jean kills various creatures, he frequently takes them to a Trading Post headed up by a Merchant (Doug Mancheski) who hilariously chews tobacco and fails to land it in a cup. This recurring motif, just like the rest in the film, finds a hilarious payoff by the end. His daughter, the previously mentioned Furrier, takes a liking to Jean even while slicing apart his dead animals. Their relationship becomes the beating heart of the film. You root for this pair as Jean trades his pelts for hunting tools which often lead to disastrous consequences. His stabs at building fires, fishing, and creating traps feel operatic with this film’s extended run time.
If you’re a fan of shirtless bearded hunks, you’ve also come to the right place. In the real world, Jean would have succumbed to frostbite, but here, his lovely exposed bod feels more feature than bug. Sure, it’s titillating, but it also enhances the comedy. By the time he’s completely naked with his private parts strategically blocked by assorted objects, you’ve entered Austin Powers territory.
I can’t say enough about the creative work on display. Cheslik expertly layers practical shots with all manner of animated work, perfectly supported by a wonderful score by Chris Ryan. Everything zips along breathlessly thanks to Cheslik’s sense of pacing as he acts as his own Editor. Quinn Hester’s cinematography at first seems quite classic and simple, but as the mayhem intensifies, my jaw dropped. You just can’t believe what you’re seeing here.
Sure, all told, we’re cheering on as one man tries to slaughter literally hundreds of woodland critters, but it’s hard to be too put out when his prey all have zippers! I might have suggested cutting out 10-15 minutes, but when you have a movie titled Hundreds Of Beavers, size matters! So take a break from the real world and let the brilliant Cheslik and Tews transport you to your happy place.

my relationship with food (part 2)
Right know I’m doing better than in those phases. And if I had the money, I could eat out every single day. But deep down I know that it’s still not good enough yet with me easily skipping a meal a day and when I make myself some lunch its not as much as it should be. And like mentioned before- dinner is also not that enjoyable. Ironically, when I went to the two therapists that went to (only for one session each) I didn’t really mentioned it because I guess in my head it is not really real- or I just don’t want to worry about another problem, you know?
Oh my, this is again much longer than I expected. I hope it was not too confusing. But there are so many things to talk about and I constantly fear that I am forgetting important things. I guess I could just write it in my next post if I forgot something and mark it with [edit for last post]
[edit for last post] my hobbies
Alright, I totally forgot to mention my hobbies in my “that’s me” post. So I’m gonna talk a little bit about that now. I feel like generally I like everything and nothing at the same time. I am always jealous of the people that have like one distinctive hobby that they love so much, they spent every time they have on it. I don’t really think I have that. But before I start to write an essay again. I am going to try and sum it up a bit:
I like to…
… read (favourite book: the secret history by Donna Tart)
… learn languages (I am learning Swedish right now)
… film and edit YouTube videos (but since I am anonymous here I can not say what my channel is called)
… watch TV Shows and movies (I’m currently watching the show ‘criminal minds’ recommended by a friend and I absolutely love it! Especially Reid of course ;) I just started season 4. Movies are a bit hard to generalize but some of my favourite movies are: ‘bohemian rhapsody’, ‘the greatest show’, ‘dead poets society’, ‘call me by your name’ and probably much more that just don’t come to my mind right now)
… play video games (mostly something for the Nintendo switch. I wish I had money to buy the new Zelda and Mario game. But I also sometimes ‘play league of legends’ with my brother)
… cook and bake (ironic I know, concerning the topic of this post)
… make music (I play a little bit of piano and the guitar, and I make wannabe songs with lame lyrics and always the same easy chords. Also, they are mostly really depressed or really depending on my mood. And sometimes there are other songs in-between)
… make friendship bracelets (I know, it sound kind of lame but it is actually quite calming. Especially when you listen to an audiobook or a podcast while you make the bracelet)
… explore things that interest me- but never enough to actually remember things (like Greek mythology. That shit is crazy)
… say good-bye now (wow, what a creative transition!) I hope once again I didn’t forget anything, but this is it for now. See you later!
