Hey I’m new to the LMK fandom, why do so many people ship Sun Wukong and Macaque??

A lot of people like the hurt/comfort potential because of their backstory and because they’re just really good counterparts lol. Macaque even makes a whole play about their past relationship, which is where a lot of that fuel for the ship comes from and the whole “the hero and the warrior were like the sun and the moon” spiel that people love using for shits and giggles. There’s also a really strong enemies to lovers sentiment and i think it’s kinda sweet

Personally, I just really like riffing off the divorced energy. To me, these idiots would rather beat the shit out of each other than make up and I really really eat that up. Not just as a joke, maybe as a way to cope with their feelings like “I want things to go back the way they were but this is all I can do”

Ok I have a very specific vision here. Two rich queer friends that have an insane amount of pressure and expectation and kind of a weird way of looking at life- to me they're like, always one step of shy of actually flirting, but it's a game for them and they have fun with it, and also have a bit of a brother-sister vibe (these are not mutually exclusive when your relationships are crazy complex and no one is related). Their parents would be like oooh are our little royalties getting lovey and they indulge it and then sneak off to drink or something. Sonia appreciates dark things and Fuyuhiko likes how sneaky she can be. Not quite frenemies but a lot of respect and ribbing that they know they can handle. Do you see my vision. Chuck and Blair kind of bitches. Dancing at fancy parties that they both hate. do you see it

I can't imagine what it's like for Armie to sit next to that bitch... even for the sake of kids. And after all, he has to communicate with her, resolve issues, keep a face and be nice when the children are around. But essentially, she wanted to kill him, put him in jail, take away his reputation, the children and all the money. Terrible, I wish her the very worst

It occurred to me very recently that there might be some serious mental health concerns that factor into Armie’s willingness to co-parent with someone who did something so clearly reprehensible to him.

He said he would do ANYTHING to keep his kids safe. Sad to say it, but keeping a close eye on their mother might fall into that category.

This recent story in her IG looks like a flex but it’s actually a neon sign highlighting her lack of understanding about the fundamental basics of parenting, imho. The goal of parenting is to raise our kids to need us less and less as they grow. She seems to conflate neediness and insecure attachment with love. Our kids can love us without telling us constantly in lunchbox love note replies written our own handwriting or humblebrag text messages about being “missed” on an ordinary school day in IG stories*.

*this could also indicate that she sees them less than she wants people to think in her IG stories.

This is not a sign of a healthy attachment. She seems not to understand this.

While Armie might have every right to cut her out of his life, they share two children and that’s simply not an option at this time. He accepts that she will have to be a constant presence in his life while the kids are still young, but in their case, I get the sense that it’s more about ensuring their kids’ safety around her. She’s already proven to be vindictive and ruthless, capable of the worst acts of revenge.

He is, above all else, a loving father who can put his kids’ needs above his own, for their health, safety, and well-being. The same cannot be said for their mother. There are many examples of this fact on her IG account to prove it.

What choice does he have but to do what he must do, especially if she is unable to care for the children in a healthy way but not (yet) deemed unhealthy enough to deny her that right?

Armie most likely views this unfortunate situation through the lens of compassion, due to her mental instability, for the sake of their children. His love and devotion to them as their father and protector gives him the strength to co-parent as well as he does with someone who probably wanted him dead, and tried everything she could to push him in that direction.

I'm am so fucking tired of people not understanding tropes. No, it's not an enemies to lovers if the characters just kinda dislike each other. No, it's not enemies to lovers if the characters merely view each other as annoying. No, it's not enemies to lovers just because A is an asshole to B. Stop tagging your crappy book as enemies to lovers when it isn't I am so tired of getting excited for shit I think I'll enjoy only to be slapped with "lol they're in love 40 pages into this enemies business" shut up shut up shut up

Misunderstanding: A Hello Neighbor Fanfic

Summary: Delroy and Nicky get to revisit the reason why they hate each other so much.

This is for @mystycalypso 's @return-to-ravenbrooks blog.

P.S., there are some references to my "When We Were Once Happy" fanfic.

Delroy sat on the living room couch, staring up at the ceiling while Nicky sat on the opposite end, drinking Bud Light. He turned to look at his red face, and he looked back.

"Thirsty? I bought enough for two.", said his frenemy. Delroy shook his head and stared back up at the ceiling.

"Fine, more for me.", mumbled Nicky.

The two sat in silence for a while, before Delroy spoke up.

"Why do we hate each other?"

Nicky turned to look at him, confused. "Hm?"

"I asked why we hate each other. We've been at each other's throats since middle school, and I kind of forgot the reason why.", replied Delroy.

If you're wondering, Delroy doesn't really care about why they hated each other. He was just bored, and Aaron said he wouldn't be back for another hour or so, and Nicky seemed to be the only one around.

Nicky stared at the ceiling for a moment, trying to think back to when they had their first fight. "Uhh...", he said, but then he shrugged. "I don't remember."

"Neither do I, man.", another moment of silence.

"This is stupid. Why do we hate each other if we can't even remember the reason why?", he asked himself.

"Let's just think back to the day we first met.", said Nicky, putting down his drink.

Another moment of silence, then Nicky finally remembered.

"Now I remember!", he said. "It was my first day of Raven Brooks middle school, and it was lunch time. I was looking for a place to sit, and after the first table rejected me, I tried sitting with you. I asked if I could sit with you, but you had headphones in your ears. I asked again, and you told me "Step off, loser. This seat's taken."."

Now Delroy remembered, and fuck, did he feel guilty about it.

"Like damn, all I wanted was a place to sit. You didn't have to be so rude about it.", Nicky took another swing of Bud Light.

Another moment of awkward silence before Delroy said something else.

"Look, Nick. I think there's been a huge misunderstanding."

Nicky turned to look at him again.

"I wasn't much of a people person in middle school, and I was having an off day that day. I didn't know you were the new kid, and I only heard about it when I heard kids murmuring about you behind your back. I wanted to apologize the next day, but I had a doctor's appointment. So I tried apologizing the day after, but when I saw you hanging out with Aaron, I just kept my distance."

Nicky rolled his eyes.

"Of course, because everyone thought Aaron was cursed. Yeah, right, I almost forgot.", he slurred, trying to form coherent sentences, but it was getting hard with all the alcohol running through his system.

"Why were you even hanging out with Aaron anyway?", asked Delroy.

"You really wanna know? You really really wanna know?", Delroy nodded. "Because Aaron was the only one in Raven Brooks who didn't treat me like dirt. From the moment I got to that school, everyone seemed to hate me, and I never understood why. Aaron, Mya, and Lucy were the only ones who actually gave me a chance. They were some of the bestest friends I've ever had."

Another moment of silence, and another swing of Bud Light. Delroy said something else that would shock the entire world.

"I'm sorry, Nick."

Nicky nearly dropped his Bud Light, but he tried to keep a firm grip on it. It was just so surprising to him to hear one of his long-time enemies apologize to him.

"I guess everything we've been through together has been just a big misunderstanding.", he said.

Nicky sat in silence for a while. "I'm sorry too.", he said. "I guess I thought that Aaron was the only one who wanted to be my friend, and when he went missing, I lost my mind trying to find him, and I ended up turning everyone against me."

It was at that moment, Delroy felt bad for Nicky. He put a hand on his shoulder, and smiled awkwardly.

"So...we cool?"

Nicky nodded so hard. "Come here you son of a bitch!", he said before wrapping his arms around Delroy.

The man stilled for a moment, but then slowly hugged back.
