any recommended stim toys? i need some new ones, especially ones that would be discreet at school
Glad you asked this when I was in the mood to organize my stuff! Here are some suggestions I have after careful listening as I used them!
Good fidget/stim toys for school:
1. Sugar balls
Tumblr media
There are big, small, and average types of sugar balls. Basically, they're balls filled with clear glue/thick gel and when squished they rise slowly. Also, they're usually soft when squished slowly, and resistant when squished hard. (Definitely the case with nee doh nice cubes and gumdrops. Regular sugar balls are easier to squish in general, in my opinion.)
There can be sounds when your fingers stick to them slightly and are pulled away (honestly not noticable with the slightest background noise so not a big deal probably), but if you put one in your pocket, not only is it hidden, but it's still the same level of satisfying from squishing it!
2: small foam squishies
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A classic! Squishies come in all kinds of sizes, including small enough to go on keychains and fit into a pocket with no issue! Super quiet, and if you see them in store, more than likely you can test their firmness and pick which one suits your taste the best!
3: worry stones and the like
Tumblr media
A worry stone is basically any object with a smooth surface for sliding your thumb against. For me, a piece of jewelry I found on my grandmas floor has legit no resistance and is super calming to slide my thumb around on. Fidget cubes also have a worry stone side, and sometimes even erasers give the same effect! (To me anyway. Any surface that's calming and small and easy to feel fits, as they show)
OH and fidget cubes have two silent buttons to press, if you enjoy that!
4: silly putty/thinking putty
Tumblr media
Depending on how its played with, putty can be super quiet and also not a big distraction as long as there isnt tons of it. (maybe more dull colors are better for class?) But, if you play with it with enough energy to cause bubbles, those bubbles will pop when its pinched or squished in a certain way. A good alternative though: KNEADED ERASERS. They're like putty but a slightly different texture and should be more fine for class.
5: hedge balls
Tumblr media
Hedge balls (this one very firm with a good thick, solid center) when squeezed, apply pressure to your skin with their little prickles. This pressure can help people, and I do believe people can also pick at the prickles! They arent for everyone, but who knows? If someone didnt know what they were, maybe they now think they need one!
If you want me to try suggesting more, lemme know! Also, anyone can reblog this with more suggestions as well! Helping people with class stims seems IMPORTANT!!
EDIT: I LEFT OUT MARBLE MESH FIDGETS:
Tumblr media
Small enough for most pockets, and moving the marble back and forth makes no noise!

Read ur tag and... time to ask....
"Anything?"
I'll see myself out
when i was a child i lived in a neighborhood with jacaranda trees. the soft, purple flowers would fall and decorate the floor like snow. when the sun would set, the orange glow upon me and the flowers would feel like something in a daydream. i fell in love with the colors of the sunset. i would intentionally take my time walking home, just to walk through the neighborhood a little slower. when the sun would begin to set, it felt like time itself was paused for me and only me.
but even as time passed, i would pick up the jacarandas and put them in my room, in my hair, in my pockets and clothes. it complemented and reminded myself of who i was, even when i did not know the answer to that question at the time. the colors of the sunset became the colors of my childhood. my synesthesia made it taste like something out of a dream. i needed more. i wanted more. my room was painted with lavender walls. colors of purple with warmth became my paradise.
but then, tragedy struck.
my indulgence for the colors became more evident, i began to express myself, visually, vocally, loudly, with the colors of the flame. bright. bold. fire. i became what i endeared the most - i became warm. and warmer. bright. and brighter. dangerously alive. i was a flame that could not be extinguished. until - my mother would tell me, 'you are like a flame. it is bright now, but it will die out.'
'you will grow up to be alone.'
'miserable.'
little did she know. fire that has been extinguished, can be ignited once again. the tragedy is not what my mother had told me, but the tragedy of her failing to realize who i was. who i am.
so, who am i, my dear reader? i am the fire. the ash. and the breath of the flame. i am everything. i am anything.
anything? you ask.
yes. anything.

Some things I have learned a lil before or in my 30's that may be helpful for some people:
-you can and should save the most amount of compassion in your heart for yourself first. You DO deserve that
-if you have a hard time loving yourself baby your brain. Talk to yourself like you would a friend, I cannot express how much this has helped me in the past (and even now)
-EFT tapping and positive affirmations can change your life for the better. Somatics too.
-your illnesses whether chronic or mental do not define you and neither does your past. You are greater than any of them combined no matter how life altering they are.
-your mindset will make or break you but don't pressure yourself to stick to a positive one just because you feel like you HAVE to. Do it only if it feels right to you and helps you. Also, unlearn the idea that you have to pull yourself up by your bootstraps.
-sit with your emotions and feelings instead of covering them up. I promise it's harder to hang onto them than it is to let them go.
-if you want something from someone or need support you HAVE to talk about it and ask for it. The people that love you won't think you're burdening them by doing this and they will only appreciate it. If you can't express what you need immediately it's okay to say that.
-manifesting is real

Twitter users, Redditors, new accounts one and all, lend me your eyes; I come with advice and some links.
This post has been made many times, but after blocking another follower who had a real enough username but no icon or layout or any posts, it needs to be said again. When you join this site, please change your icon, your blog theme, and reblog something. If you want to keep the basic tumblr blog theme, go ahead—but at least have a few reblogs to it. You know that awesome username you've created? The one you're proud of? Yeah, that's going to mean jack nothin' if your icon and your blog remains the default and empty. You will be blocked and/or reported as a bot which is bad and also sad because you're probably an awesome person and having someone like you following someone like me would be super awesome. Here are some links to some cool theme makers: Shudesigns - Their themes + their theme rec tag
Octomoosey - Their themes + the themes they've relogged
Theme Hunter - Here Seyche - Their rec list Glenthemes - Their Themes There are more sites, obviously, and free themes in the tumblr theme section, but these are the ones I most visit when I'm thinking of getting a new theme. I hope this helps everyone be they old tumblrs or new ^_^

idk how or why i have this image saved but im glad i did
shes one of my favorite celebrities in the entire world and when i read this i couldnt help but laugh at the negative comments
fran radiates 'be cringe be free' energy and i love her for it. im sure out of everyone, she knows some of her outfits are seen as bizarre, strange, 'too vampy', or giving off a 'brain on drugs'. will that stop her though? no. she embraces it, smiles with it, and stands proud in it. good. dont suppress yourself for the wrong people.
im so glad she continued to be her.

ive literally created more art in the time i started using this account than i have in like my entire twitter/facebook time
its so fun seeing people doing art for the sake of art.
the WIPs, 'incompletes', drafts, messy sketches, loud and proud, humble and quiet, vibrant, uneven, 'weird', repetitive, offtune, silly, 'taboo', 'im'perfect, unhinged, vulnerable, art. artists who notice typos, drawing errors, having imposter syndrome, or not feeling 100%, and they still decide to share it. because we trust each other enough to share something personal, vulnerable, intimate, passionate, and/or delicate. because we invite and celebrate others who do the same.
i feel so blessed and honored to be able to see so many creations and works. for FREE. while also hyping and helping each other up to never let this love flicker away.
the motivation and appreciation of beauty and community.
it's a very lovely and magical feeling.

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
New Part: 10 Lethal Injury Ideas
If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas:
1. Sprained Ankle
A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.
2. Rib Contusion
A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.
3. Concussions
This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character’s judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.
I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.
4. Fractured Finger
A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.
5. Road Rash
Road rash is an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.
6. Shoulder Dislocation
This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.
7. Deep Laceration
A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.
This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.
8. Burns
Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.
If you want to explore writing burns, read here.
9. Pulled Muscle
This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.
10. Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)

collection of useful things tumblr has taught me:
even if you can't fall asleep, laying down with your eyes closed will still rest your body
you don't have to brush your teeth standing up
you don't have to do any chore standing up, from dishes to showering
you don't have to shower with the lights on
if you can't brush your teeth, flossing and a tongue scraper gets rid of plaque and bad breath
if you can't do that, mouthwash kills a lot of bacteria
eating "unhealthy" food is better than eating no food
you can make the same meal everyday for however long you still want it
some pills come in syrups or chewables if you can't swallow them
kids nutritional shakes can be a quick way to get fuel if you can't eat/don't have time
if walking hurts/exhausts you on a regular basis, canes and rollers are for you, no matter how young you are
we have free will—if doing something "out of the ordinary" makes life easier for you, do it
if you have even a dollar to spare, please consider donating to Alaikum's family.
they're a large family at only 10% of their goal to evacuate, and could use any help you can give!!
