yes i'm rooting for m*leven breakup because byler is neat but mostly? i'm rooting for m*leven breakup for the sake of el and mike.
to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!
i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.
also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.
they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.
they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.
i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.

what if Joker Out is an all virgin band. Because they got obsessed with music and school and forgot everything else and never really dated and never knew where to start from. So all those hotline promos were just them fantasizing that they know what they're doing. Maybe only Nace a proper adult joining from outside, looking at the horny but totally inexperienced bunch of guys and thinking "ufff 😳 do I... do I help?..."
Anyways where were I? oh right, Joker Out are all actually virgins conspiracy
kwjekewkjwj nonny wdym "what if" this is real, they're all music nerds and no one in the band had sex til nace joined, this is fact
i like to imagine the others all lying to each other that they've had sex but one by one nace gradually finds out they're all virgins and slowly goes insane with this knowledge – one day they're all joking about sex but it's just so obvious they have no idea what they're talking about and nace just stands up and goes "you all sound like TEENAGERS, if any of you want to ACTUALLY know what sex is like i will be in my HOTEL ROOM goodnight" and leaves

I keep turning this concept in my head but I can't manage to write it satisfactorily so here I am, setting it out in the wild:
Tim Drake being alerted that Batman INC is something that is in the planning stages of it happening (maybe by Lucius, maybe by Tam, who even knows, look he was CEO for a while and someone is worried about Bruce Wayne about to go public with Batman INC and they get in touch with him) and going to Bruce and refusing to let him do this.
Because Bruce is needed in Gotham and Batman is needed in Gotham, and while Dick is doing a great job and no one will convince Tim of the contrary, that's not Dick's job. It's Bruce's.
(Who also has a son who just got his father back and if anyone knows what it would mean for a son who lost their father to get that father back when you know it's not going to happen... well lets say Tim has Opinions about this [and while he might not get along with Damian all that well yet, they are in that neutral state where Damian is like a cat observing things and studying dynamics and Tim has always been able to work with people he doesn't like or even trust much, so he's not going to punish the kid over whatever's went down between them.])
And besides, let's be real here Bruce, if you want a Batman that can go around the world and pull together teams and make them cohesive and knows what it's needed to be a successful team of young / upcoming young heroes, that's way more Dick than you yourself. Would be preferrable if he was allowed to do it as Nightwing, but the point still stands.
Just ... Tim pow-wowing with Bruce over the whole sitch and convicing him to back down. Not abandon the project, Tim knows that will not happen no matter what Tim does, but trusting it to Dick, who is way better with both younger people and people skills in general than Bruce.
(Which actually is not meant to separate Damian from Dick, Dick can come in from one assignment to the next and check on Damian and this is not the time it was when Tim was growing up, they have communications all over the globe now, Dick can phonecall and videocall Damian as many times as he wants and check on him as often as he wishes, but if Batman INC is happening, and it will happen because Bruce has decided it will, then Tim can only do damage control over this)
And possibly Bruce leveraging Tim staying in Gotham (which, joke's on Bruce, Tim was going to do that anyway, but sure he'll "concede") and possibly "asking" (ordering, let's be real here) Tim to help train Damian (which Tim isn't enthusiastic about but fine, he'll make it work as long as Bruce has his back), for multiple reasons.
A bit because Bruce sort of feels guilty that Tim was kicked out of the Robin role (Bruce HAD promised it would be Tim's until Tim decided otherwise, [which I don't think Dick knew about and even if he had, the situation still had been what it was, to be fair to Dick]) but also Bruce doesn't quite know what to do with Damian (and it wouldn't be the first time he's trusted Tim to teach young heroes / guide someone in a vigilante role) and also he both wants Tim to be there with him (he's missed him) and needs him there with himself (Tim the emotional regulation parentified wonder!).
And then shenanigans from there.

i need to mutter into the void so i’m going to post under the cut the trials and tribs of my current clegan fic writing experience so no one including (especially) me has to make eye contact with it. it’s basically a diary entry. god bless anyone that reads it lol. love and light 🫶
goddamn writing this fic is kicking my ass. it was just meant to be an angsty gale introspective. then i started another and that was meant to be them just fucking absolute nasty style. now i fear they have combined, morphed, metamorphosed, and it’s becoming a monster. goddamn. what does one do in this situation? it would be my first time posting in this fandom and my second time posting fic at all. i’m shaking in my boots about it. there is so much wonderful fic being posted for this pairing and so many approaches and styles. i would love to get mine out and see it amongst those works. i’m just not sure how to go about constructing this fic and how to post about it. i’d like to post some bits and pieces and maybe someone will see it and tell me it’s worth it to finish it but first and foremost i’m really writing this for myself, because it’s the type of fic i love to read and also i feel like i need to be writing it so my mind is creating something. and it would feel like a waste to me and a let down for myself if i never post it. also i’m projecting very hard onto it and onto gale as a character, so it feels kind of personal in some parts? which can’t totally be avoided but because of that and because the way i write is also very personal to me it’s making something that should be fun to post about feel quite daunting. but i want to push myself so badly because it’s been years since i’ve done that, maybe i’ve never done that. and Of Course it’s wwii yaoi that’s gotten me to this point.
anyway, y’all ever think about gale identifying as a more feminine being than is expected for a man like him in the time he’s in, thus manifesting itself into years of repression he’s not entirely aware of until he meets and grows closer to bucky, and how he comes to terms with being awakened in such a way that has laid dormant until he’s in the literal u.s. military, and eventually in one of the least survivable theatres of the war, and in suffocating proximity day in and day out with one john bucky egan? and how he navigates his bond with marge, now in contrast to how he feels for john? and how even his childhood and the lives of his parents is being pushed forwards in his consciousness in relation to his sense of self and his place in the lives of others? oh and also how absolutely Biblically he wants john, in the most unconventional and all encompassing ways? all while he has no context for queerness and sexuality as it relates to himself? i dunno what freak would be into writing or reading that 👀 🚬💀

Final results
So, I went and used my imagination and got 2 Sherliam stories and 1 Hualian 'cuz why not. The only thing I need to do is pick the best one of these three, so again, I ask for your help. Oh right, on a side note, Sherlock's name was changed to Samuel, and Xie Lian and Hua Cheng were changed to Xinquan and San Lang respectively.
Story One
Once upon a time, two souls met their fateful end. William and Samuel, they were called—or so the legends say. Some say they leapt from the bridge's edge, their bodies swallowed by the dark embrace of the river below. Others claim they got pushed into the Thames, around the time of 1885.
But it's not the manner of their death that sends shivers down the spine. It's what they do in the hours of the night. They say William's spirit, restless and vengeful, seeks out the bodies of evil men, who use their power for a bad cause, killing, for example. Some say they've seen him, drifting through the halls of large estates, his eyes burning red as he whispers curses to those who dare to cross his path.
And Samuel, they say, walks the streets with purposeful intent, his ghostly presence a silent guardian for those walking down the streets of London. They say he appears when least expected, his ghostly form a reminder that even in death, love has no bounds.
So beware, of the bridge that spans the Thames and the shadows that lurk in the corners of the night. For you never know when you might catch a glimpse of William and Samuel, the restless ghosts who haunt the hearts of men with a vengeance born of their love.
Story Two
It was a moonless night in 1885 when William and Samuel, as the old tales tell, stood upon London Bridge, their hearts heavy with the weight of untold secrets. Some say they were star-crossed lovers, torn apart by the cruel whims of society, while others whisper of a bond forged in the fires of rivalry and hatred.
They say William and Samuel made a silent pact, a final act of defiance against a place that had failed to understand them. Hand in hand, they stepped off the edge of the bridge, their bodies plunging into the Thames below. William’s brother, Albert, ordered a search party, without luck, as their bodies were never recovered.
But their spirits, they did not find peace in death. They lingered still, their souls bound to the mortal realm by the bonds of unfinished business.
Some say William's restless spirit seeks out the bodies of evil men, who use their power like a weapon, for a bad cause, killing, for example. They say he haunts the large estates and mansions of the aristocrats, his eyes burning red as he whispers curse of vengeance to those who dare to cross his path.
And Samuel, they say, walks the streets of London with purposeful intent, his ghostly presence a silent guardian for those who seek justice. They say he appears when least expected, his ghostly form a reminder that even in death, the power of love knows no bounds.
Story Three (Hualian version)
Once upon a time, in a land where gods and spirits walked among mortals, there lived two souls whose love defied life and death. Xinquan and San Lang, they were known, a fallen god and a vengeful spirit, their bond forged in the fires of destiny.
Legend has it that Xinquan, a revered deity, had been cast down from the heavens, his divine powers stripped away by the hand of fate. San Lang, a ghost hidden in shadows and sorrow, haunted the mortal realm with longing and regret.
Their paths crossed in the depths of an ancient temple, where Xinquan, encountered the vengeful spirit of San Lang. Bound by fate, they went on a journey that would challenge the very foundation of existence.
But fate is unpredictable. It is said that Xinquan and San Lang, burdened by the weight of their forbidden love, made a vow, a pact sealed in the middle of the night.
Hand in hand, they walked the path of no return.
However their souls still lingered, their ethereal presence an oath made of the power of love.
Some say Xinquan's gentle spirit wanders the ancient temples, his presence a comfort to those who seek solace. They say he appears when the moon is full, his celestial form a beacon of hope.
And San Lang, they say, roams the forgotten corners of the mortal realm, his ghostly form a guardian to those who defy the fate. They say he walks the earth with purposeful intent, his eyes burning red as he watches over the ones he loves from afar.
Listen to these words, and remember the tale of Xinquan and San Lang, the lovers whose spirits still linger in the corners of the world, their love eternal and solid, which flows through the heart of time.
